BORAX for THRUSH

From the book: Borax the Magic Crystal, p. 17,1915

Borax for the Nursery –

Every infant's mouth should be washed twice a day. Mouth with a piece of clean sterilized linen dipped in a solution of Borax in the proportion of one tablespoonful of Borax to a quart of water. The breath will be kept sweet and the gums perfectly healthy. This will prevent thrush.

Mouth and Throat Affections Such as Thrush –

To one ounce of honey add a teaspoonful of powdered Borax, and apply to the affected part frequently.

Sore Throat –

Add two even tablespoonfuls of granulated Boric to a pint of hot water, gargle the throat thoroughly with this solution three or four times a day, or allow a small crystal of Borax to dissolve slowly in the mouth three or four times each day ; this will tend to allay the irritation. Or to a pint of water add a teaspoonful each of salt and Boric, and use as a gargle two or three times a day.

NOTES:

Borax (i.e. Boric acid) was commonly used as a disinfectant for wounds and cuts before the modern antibiotic era 1940. Its ability to prevent infections made it a popular choice for treating minor injuries. People would sprinkle boric acid powder on wounds or boric acid salves 10% to promote healing and keep infections at bay.

Boric acid is still used as a natural remedy for fungal infections, particularly athlete's foot, toenail fungus, and yeast infections. Its antibacterial properties also make it effective in treating minor cuts and abrasions. Healthcare professionals widely recommend boric acid suppositories for women suffering from chronic yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis. The suppositories help restore the natural pH balance of the vagina, preventing the growth of harmful bacteria and fungi
