Thank God For Absorbine Jr. This is my first time having ring worm. I have a quarter size patch on my left arm, near my elbow. It was very itchy and red. I came across this website, went to CVS and purchased Absorbine Jr. On my break. I cleansed the area with a baby wipe and applied the Absorbine with a cotton ball. I then held it in place until the tingling subsided. I am now back at work, the itchiness has stopped and the redness has calmed to a pink. After one application I am confident that this will work. I thank God and can now finish work and know I'm on my way to healing. Thanks earth clinic!!!!

I promised I would do this if this site helped and it did. I was desperate because I had ringworm on my inner thigh that soon encroached on to my testicles, so I used a few methods from this site. Try and see what works for you, but this is what worked for me. 1) Shower (if in a less aggressive area forearm for instantce maybe you just wash your arm off in the tub or sink. 2) ACV(apple cider vinegar) - apply with cotton ball and rub in a circular motion until it bleeds. Do this for the first 1-3 days

3) Absortine Jr - apply with cotton ball (don't rub just dab and hold until the pain sensation is totally gone or until you reach your threshold)

4) Tea Tree Oil - apply with q-tip (don't rub just dab the area until you see the shine/wet look)

5) Gold Bond Triple Action Relief(extra strength) - apply after air or blow dry

Tips
-Shower or wash area if possible before every treatment. (if I couldn't shower I would use a baby wipe with a dash of ACV on it) four times a day. -Repeat all steps for first 1-3 days when your ready to discontinue ACV dose do so, but continue all other steps. Other Key Points
-You will feel discomfort
-This won't be fun
-The sooner you attack the easier it will be to kill this fungal rash
-Your skin will be discolored (dark/grey/black)
-Your skin will peel
-When healed be sure to moisturize the skin because if not it will be itchy. -KEEP EVERYTHING CLEAN & be honest with the people you live with to be careful you don't want to pass this on. I hope this helps someone else. Peace, Love, & Knowledge,
-aker

WARNING!

Do not use Bleach for ringworm. It will pop the pimples in the middle of the ringworm and irritate the ringworm to where it will grow to the size of a quarter. I know because my brother tried it with Bleach and also my wrestling coach told the whole team!

There are tons of remedies I for one currently have it... I have been studying the body for 5 years. This is horrible. Most common places to get ringworm a NEW animal... Cats, Rabbits, Puppies, Horses. Other places such as a public restroom with still water, dirty swimming pool, let's not forget a locker room. Ringworm is a tenia most common tinea is tinea pedis (athletes feet) if you have a new animal take them to your trusted vet just because you don't see it does not mean they do not have it. I bleached the entire house, got the medicine Ketoconazole it is in a tablet and a cream in the anti-parasite family (ringworm is a skin parasite), Hydroxyz for itching! The Itch Stopped There!! Get if in your case it's from an animal a LiME dip treatment bottle! DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON PRESCRIPTION PET MEDS!!!! Dip the pet use the cream and pills in just 2 days the infection starts to disappear! The meds are good ESP. If you are one allergic to a lot of medication this only side effect is drowsiness. And the line dip wear gloves, don't wear rings!!! I know this may be long but trust me more details the better.. Ifffff you are using at home remedies do NOT USE THE SAME FINGER TWICE ON DIFFERENT RINGS THAT HELPS THE INFECTION TO SPREAD!!!! USE DIFFERENT FINGERS THEN WASH HANDS THOROUGHLY!!!! I hope this helps!!!! Oh and lastly WASH BED CLOTHES IN HOOOOOT WATER!!!!

I had a spot of ringworm on my inner thigh in the groin area that I treated with CVS brand lamisil for a month. It went away and came back. I kept applying the cream twice a day for two months or more, and it never went away. Then I saw another spot on my left leg. When I switched to another cream, it got angry and more red and larger. Then I got desperate, imagining this nasty stuff spreading like wildfire.

I have been using absorbine Jr. four times a day for almost 2 weeks now. There was a lot of flaking and scaling within the first week, and the burning was fierce on the raw areas. But now on day 12, things are looking 70% better. I hope with another week of treatment it should be gone. In researching ringworm, I am making sure to cover it lightly with bandages so it can breathe but not spread. Also, I am only wearing pants one day and washing all of my bottoms separately from tops etc with Borax and clorox for colors, along with my regular detergent so this stuff doesn't infect me elsewhere. Yuck.

Tea Tree Oil

I noticed I had a red circle on my outer thigh but just thought it was dry skin, until about 2 weeks later when I researched it and found out it was ringworm. I don't know how I got it, but I bought some Lotrimin to put on twice a day (It's hard to wear jeans with it on because it will rub off, so I have to wear pajamas so the ringworm can breathe). I also have been putting on Melaleuca's tea tree oil on it as well (2-3 times a day). It's been one full week and the ringworm is already looking much lighter. I figure about a week or two more and it will be all the way gone, but the Lotrimin says to keep using it for 4 weeks.

Reptile Light

My son has had recurring ringworm in a couple spots (thigh and forearm). It always seems to flare up in the fall and get better when he can get sun on it (which is nearly impossible in a Michigan winter). We decided to try a reptile light bulb available at a pet store (it has UVA and heat). We put the bulb in a small lamp fixture and he held his arm above it for 10-15 minutes a day and it worked like a charm. He was also using the Absorbine for the week or so prior to this, and that helped somewhat, but the reptile light really made a difference. The skin was clear after 5 or 6 days.

Bar Soap
Posted by Ruth (Glendora, Ca) on 01/25/2012

Try patting milk of magnesia on the ringworm and letting it dry for 20 minutes then washing it off. This remedy worked for me when I had Cheilitis on my lips when steroids and anti fungal cream did not! Thanks to Ted and this site for this wonderful natural remedy!

Bar Soap
Posted by Laurie (Daejeon, South Korea) on 01/24/2012

I got ringworm from my cat, and I've gone through at least 2-3 cycles of infection now over a period of 2 months. I tried anti-fungal creams. Since it's in Korean and my doctor has limited English, I wasn't sure what the active ingredients were. But I tried 2-3 different types of creams and none helped, one even made it much worse. I even desperately tried bleach... Very bad idea. Wounds festered. I tried apple cider vinegar-much the same as the bleach.

What works: Use bar soap, lather well so that a thick white foam appears over all ringworm spots, let air dry for about 10-20 minutes, gently rinse. Repeat at least 2x/day. I'm doing this plus taking anti-fungal pills once a week. I've ordered Absorbine Jr. at the recommendation of this site. I intend to apply that as well, but it is not available in Korea and I've had to order it online.

Bleach

I adopted a kitten and I thought it had mange but the vet said it was ringworm. I wish I had found out sooner than I did because it spread to my other cat and me before I got it under control. I would not use bleach due to how toxic it is but I used Qtips and put food grade hydrogen peroxide on it. It hurt some but dried it up immediately. I then bought a flourescent black light and went into a dark room with both cats, they both had areas that glowed green and I had a couple of spots of it. My naturopathic doctor gave my allium (garlic) oil. It contains 40 mcg of allium per drop. It really worked on me. I rubbed 1 drop into the spots 3x a day for 2 days and mine are gone. I'm considering using it on my cats but since garlic is supposed to be bad for them I am hesitating to use it. The vet gave me a special shampoo and a bottle of liquid called pure oxygen and it has been somewhat effective. I will be taking them sunbathing to see if that helps.

Salt

I had a small outbreak of ringworm after working at a feral cat sanctuary after only 1 day, needless to say that the fungus is highly contagious.. Anyhow, the woman at the sanctuary told me she was applying coconut oil to the cats to treat the ringworm.

When I had it, I started to apply the coconut oil. Next day, it got bigger. Tried it again, and again it got bigger. My sister recommended putting iodine, it didn't make it go away, but also didn't make it get bigger. I started thinking to myself.. ok, fungi like moisture, no wonder the oil is making it spread, the iodine doesn't quite dry it out, so what dries things out...salt!

I took a bottle cap that was roughly the same size as the ringworm, filled it with salt, and put just enough warm water to melt it into a pasty liquid form, I then stuck the whole lid onto the ringworm and let the salt paste soak into it for 5-10 minues (can tape it on so it doesnt move). Then I took it off, let it dry, and reapplied it later, few times a day. The fungus dried up in 2-3 days and was completely gone, though the new skin needed a week or so to heal the pigmentation.

General Feedback

Ringworm is a fungus from hell. I first noticed what I thought was a bruise on my left hip area. Hmm, Few days later, I saw the horror and knew before going to doctor but wanted absolute confirmation and some antifungal. He put me on clotrimazone1%. Said should be gone in about 2-3 weeks. After three weeks, nothing other than seeing more red spots showing up. I kept using the clotrimazone but tried, ACV, Teatree oil, neem, oregano essential oils, mixed. No change after a week.

On 4th week and nothing has died out that I can tell. Tried Absorbine Jr and then today TKO, an orange oil cleaner. I'm desperate and afraid to have to go on prescription meds. I just bought some Terbinefine Hydrochloride 1% as someone suggested on a site. If this doesn't work, I will try the DMSO and Tannic acid if I can find it. There are some 3-day guaranteed products I've seen but expensive and I don't have that much faith because you have to use just as they say and with other products or they won't guarantee. I've read a lot about fungus, never had Candida in my life and now I'm battling this horror and am so health conscious.

It was likely the one time I had to use a public toilet with no protection. Was an emergency and I can't sit down to do... You know but can stand for the other. I have to be fanatic about changing clothes and don't want friends over unless I know clorox has been used on my toilet and I have to cover furniture with a special cloth to protect any contamination as this stuff is highly contagious. I could say where it came from on Public toilet but I won't. I'm so angry and wonder now if I will ever find a cure and if I can control the infection around my buttocks without it spreading onto more areas. OH BOY!!!!

Anti-Fungal Diet

I have to disagree with the diet method as a cure for ringworm.

Miconazole Nitrate 2% is the medicine needed for ringworm that treated it. No diet changes necessary. I have had ringworm 4 times in less than a year. I kept my pop, coffee, fruit, vegetables (yes, even potatos), meats, and occassionally junk food. Mine still healed using ketaconazole (sp?) from the doctor. My friend eats healthier than me (less pop and junk food), had ringworm, no diet changes, got medicine, and it healed. I've had other friends have ringworm and done nothing to their diets just medicine and it still healed. We all have a lot of varying diets also. (None of us knew about this site yet or was interested in natural cures) So I really don't believe a diet change done it.

Jas, 7 years? Is it reoccuring? Once you get it once then you have to be ringworm free (no outbreaks, not even a spot) for 18 months before you're completely cured from it. I was told this by a doctor but I'm not sure how right she is. This may be why. If you try another remedy on here say jock itch cream, after you put it on cover it with gauze so it doesn't rub off on something/someone else and is can get into the infected area. When you're awake you can take it off but absolutely no touching it, even if it is itching. Do this about 2 times a day and you should see improvement. Also sunlight! The very natural cure to ringworm! But sunlight alone can take longer.

The Absorbine is the arthritis rub. However, when you read the side of the box it does say it is for athletes foot/ringworm.

Borax

I thought I'd reply to this thread because when I was younger my sister brought home a kitten with ringworm. Right away I had one on my leg where the cat sat. It was about the size of a dime. So I took After Bite and applied it to the area. (After Bite contains ammonia. ) The ringworm spot puffed up and went back down before my eyes. A couple days later I looked and it was totally gone and never came back.

Hello Diane, I have been a ringworm sufferer for about 7 years. I just wanted to know how long did you have to stay on your anti-fungal diet before you completely got rid of your ringworm? I'm going to try it..... I desperately need something internally in order to completely rid this plague. Thanks so much for all of your help! jas

We have been dealing with a case of ringworm recently. I searched here on Earth Clinic to find remedies, which is what I do for all ailments we experience, human AND pet. The posts about the success had when using Absorbine, Jr prompted me to purchase a bottle, hoping it would bring relief. When I looked at the inactive ingredients, I realized why this product works so wonderfully for ringworm. Calendula, Echinacea, and Wormwood are three of the ingredients! Calendula is good for the skin and has healing properties, Echinacea is a natural antibiotic (externally and internally) and supports the immune system, and Wormwood is an anti-fungal (it's a very good vermifuge, or worm-expeller, for animals). I just thought I would share where I believe the secret of the success of this product. It sure has helped us!

Absorbine Jr. Worked for me when all other remedies failed. I was dealing with ringworm on my thigh for over a month. Tinactin, and all other OTC anti fungal cures proved totally ineffective.

My girlfriend got me started on lavendar oil, but that did not seem to work either. This website showed absorbine Jr. as a possible cure so I drove over to CVS and picked some up.

It took about 4 days to completely irradicate the ringworm. I am so thankful for this suggestion. Earthclinic rocks.

This thing worked in two days. I applied some on a Wed night and continued periodically applying until Thurs night. Friday morning, after my shower, the dark brown spots on my face pealed off, leaving a light pink skin underneath. I didn't apply on Fri. or Sat. because I didnt want it to get dark again and I had to go to a wedding. But by Sunday morning the pink area was gone and I had no flakes or itching. I can't say for sure if it was ringworm of psoriasis or something else but Absorbine cured it in less than 2 days. I love this site. I hope this helps others who find themselves desparate for a cure. God bless

I used Tea Tree Oil on my 13 yr old and wash everything in his room in hot water, I have no idea where he got it; it was on his forearm and was bothersome to him, after a few days he finally let me know. I'm glad that I found out before we had a family outbrake!

Clear Nail Polish

I'm going to be very clear. Clear nail polish is the only thing that works! I have had ring worm on and off for the past 12 years, and I've tried everything you can name from perscriptions, over the counter creams, home remedies, bleach, anything you can name. I just recently saw that people were recomending clear nail polish, and the next day it started to fade away, faster then anything I have tried before. Don't let ringworm be in your way!

Bleach

I have had a ringworm infection for about 4 months. I had big patches on either side of my waist and arm. I have used Absobine solution, Gris-peg as prescribed by a medical doctor (this made it worse) the Absobine solution was very painful the itch was relieved temporarily(I wouldn't advice this one because it just hurts for nothing). I even tried the antifungal cream which made it even worse. It looks like the strain I had was a very persist one so I decided to use bleach(straight) out of desperation! It was very painful! (I wouldn't advice you to use it this way either) the itch stopped and I stopped using it after a day or two. The itch and the ringworm patches ressurected with a vegence so I decided a different approach that has given me the best results which you can take to the bank!

I decided to dilute the bleach and it worked beautifully for me. I decided to take a disposable cup(medium) almost filled and put close to 2-3 Table spoons of bleach and used a wash cloth to apply and rub on the affected area. The itch was controlled and the ring worm dried out and the rough skin has been restored to smooth skin. I have been applying Vitamin E oil or cocnut oil or any kind of oil to keep the dry skin from itching after a series of application. I have also been using a brush to brush the area to help the skin heal faster by increasing circulation and it is very smooth and the scars are almost gone. Thanks to this Website and persistance. I have used the diluted bleach treatment like twice-three times a day for and two-3weeks and I can say I'm almost over this frightening attack. Hope you find this helpful. I can sleep with not problem of the annoying itch again! Thanks be to God!
