I had a rash on my face that I thought might have come from a gnat bite. It started out as a tiny spot on the front of my neck that itched. I didn't think anything of it, figured it'd go away, but it kept spreading up towards my face. I ended up with the rash on my neck, chin and both sides of my mouth and it kept spreading upwards. I tried many of the remedies listed here on EC but none worked. Some would work one time and the next time I'd put some on again, it would sting. That's how I knew a remedy wasn't working, I'd put it on, wait about 5 minutes and it would start to sting and I'd have to wash it off. The areas with the rash were raised, red, and very dry. If I put any kind of oil on it, it would sting.

My dog injured his leg, came in the house limping, and someone on EC said they had used Traumeel on their dog and it had healed. Looked up Traumeel and found out that it was now called T-Relief. Bought some of the cream and put some on my dog. It healed him right away so while I was putting the cream on my dog, I thought to myself that I should try it on my face. The ingredients listed were wonderful healing herbs so maybe it would work on me even though it wasn't meant to heal a rash. Put some on my rash and it didn't sting so I knew I could use it but didn't know if it would heal the rash. Several hours later I could tell it was working. I put it on again that day and 2 more times the next day just to be sure it healed completely. It's all healed.

Olive Oil, Serrapeptase

I had a rash that burned like sun burn that started at my bra line. I think it has to do with diet, but I had tried everything also and the last thing I tried was olive oil. 2 teaspoons a day until it goes away then every once in a while as needed. I have now stopped the olive oil because I started to take Serrapeptase which has kind of kept it under control.

Could you tell me the name of it?

EC: Type "caprylic acid, pau d arco, grapefruit seed extract, tree tree oil" into an Amazon search box and you will see one particular supplement pop up.

Colostrum

Last year my eleven year old daughter came down with a severe histamine rash all over her body, but predominantly on her sweet, beautiful face. She was so tired all the time, falling asleep wherever she sat down for a minute.

We tried a low histamine diet along with about $1000 of supplements and creams, even a trip to the beach in February! A week at the beach helped a lot, but we couldn't stay there forever, and I was praying for a miracle.

Fast forward six months...Our miracle came in the form of colostrum. We ordered the expensive stuff off amazon and it started working very quickly. Within a week all the sores and rashes were starting to heal. She also got her energy back and I got my little girl back!

She can now survive off the cheaper colostrum, but for ease of use, we order a spray version and she takes it every morning. We went on vacation and forgot the colostrum. After three days, she started getting tired again, so for now, it's part of her life indefinitely.

Part of the long version of her story is how this reaction started.

She has fought eczema since birth (elbows, knees), but after discovering fresh, grass fed cow milk, it all went away. She gained weight and her skin was so smooth. Years later, however, in my overmothering efforts, I started making fermented foods: sourdough bread, kefir, pickles, probiotics, and feeding the kids lots of grass fed beef gelatin. It's suppose to be really good for you right?! Well, it was great, for me and the rest of the kids! But it sent my eleven year old into histamine shock! The short list of what we tried involved most of the remedies here on earth clinic.

I didn't realize what was going on at first, but when I (out of desperation) gave her a Benadryl, she cleared up quickly. Researching further, I found histamine intolerance information and light bulbs started going off. Life is better now. And the colostrum has allowed her to enjoy her childhood again!

I pray this review truly helps another as this website has helped our family so much!

Aloe Vera

Been noticing that 3-4 hours after going to the bathroom, the skin on my bottom forms an uncomfortable red rash. Started researching and found a site where contributors said they experienced the same with the Mr. Wipple brand. Ours is Nxxxxxxx brand but something's in it that I must be allergic to as we have a bidet and use it daily. Scary to imagine what manufacturers are putting in these products. Time for TP research!

Parsley Juice

I unsuccessfully tried various remedies to get rid of a stubborn rash, including apple cider vinegar which has often helped me in the past. I decided to mash up some parsley with a mortar and pestle, drench a cotton pad with the juice, and put it on the rash. I left it on there for about an hour, and I have done this twice so far - the rash is now almost gone. I'm so relieved to have found something that works!

Nettle Tincture for Contact Rash

My son was in the woods building a fort with his friends. He came in and said his chin was stinging. He had not been bitten, but thought perhaps he had brushed against a stinging nettle plant. It must have been bad for him to come in; he is usually pretty tolerant. I couldn't see any issue on his skin.

I gave him 1/4 teaspoon nettle tincture in a little water. I had him hold it in his mouth for several seconds before swallowing. The relief came very quickly.

I don't know if it was nettle that he touched or something else. But Nettle tincture should work for its own sting, plus allergic reactions to all kinds of other plants and irritants. One son used nettles daily for a year for allergies. After that time his reactions to poison ivy were much less.

Hmm..I don't think I have used nettle tincture for poison ivy before. I will have to try it out. I am sure one of my children will get into some soon; they seem to be good at finding it even though I am the poison ivy police around here.

To make nettle tincture, I put the dry nettle leaf in a jar and cover with vodka. Let it sit for 2 weeks. Strain out the leaves with a coffee filter. The resulting tincture will last for years. It is wonderful to have on hand.

Neem Oil

I'd had a rash on 3 small areas on my leg and had tried many remedies but none seemed to help. I tried ACV, coconut oil and several other oils, colloidal silver and essential oils....none helped. I finally tried neem oil and in less than a week, the rash was gone. I used the oil undiluted, right from the bottle, and applied it about twice a day, morning and night, when I remembered.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Coconut Oil
Posted by Betty (Longmont) on 06/06/2017

So I had the same thing happening to me for months and would increase whenever I returned to work at a deli shop restaurant. I thought I was breaking out from the sanitation or some chemical I worked with. Come to find out it was water blister eczema also known as Dyshidrotic eczema and I started seeing a dermatologist and she was awesome. The liptoids in the skin were severely dried out and I had to continue a well thought out regemin my doctor prescribed me with medicated cream and moisturizer 2weeks on and 1 week just Vaseline and so forth. I tell you my hands never felt and looked better. Please consult a dermatologist if you can it is well worth it. Better then the itch and the embarrassment of patchy flakey red bubbly hands and some times oozing.

Oral remedy for candida rash and/or athlete's foot

I had developed a candida rash and the doctor's medicines weren't doing any good. So I went to the health food store and found a product to take by mouth containing caprylic acid, pau d'arco, grapefruit seed extract and tea tree oil. I only took half the recommended dosage every day and the rash was gone gone within a week. As a bonus, it also killed the athlete's foot on the tops of my feet and big toes I had been fighting for seven months.

Borax

I have been drinking borax, about 1/4 tsp in a glass of water in the morning for about a week. Haven't noticed much change yet.

Last night, I was in pain after two nights of a rash with welts and itching on my thigh. Maybe heat rash, but the weather has been cooler. I got up and took a hot shower and rubbed Borax on my skin and the rash on my leg and rinsed. I felt no more itching and pain afterwards and was able to sleep through the night and the welts have gone down to almost nothing. Today, there is no itching and minimal raised skin.

I will continue with a bit of borax in hand to scrub the skin if I feel the heat rash coming back.

I have dealt with heat rashes for the past 10 years and eliminating soap and skin products has had little effect. I bought the borax last week when I finally found a store that carried it.

I'll post updates if I have further problems.

Nettle Tea

I took my kids to play in the creek this afternoon. I was noticing the weeds growing near the creek and saw some nettles. I decided to touch the nettles to give myself a nettle rash so I could see what would get rid of it. I hit the plant with the top of my foot a couple of times. I thought I noticed a tiny tingle after a short while but nothing really happened. So I touched it more firmly with the back of my arm. Same thing. I thought I noticed a bit of a tingle but then NOTHING.

Well. I thought that perhaps I am immune to nettle. Or perhaps it wasn't nettle. I came home and checked pictures and am pretty sure it was nettle. It had the little thorny things and the right shaped leaves and flowers....

Then I remembered that I have been drinking nettle tea. I had a couple of cups yesterday and at least once cup so far today. Nettle tea is an antidote for the nettle rash. Maybe drinking it ahead prevented the rash. It is a natural anti-histamine. You do take anti-histamines to prevent reactions.

We have seen nettle help with seasonal allergies and hives. And now I think you can prevent a nettle rash by drinking it ahead of time.

Epsom Salt, Oregano Oil

Try to use castor oil.

Epsom Salt, Oregano Oil
Posted by Isis (Usa ) on 07/28/2016

Turmeric and a carrier oil like Coconut, Sesame, or Olive. Any will work. Make a paste apply and cover for as long as possible. It will pull all kinds of this out of the skin.

Warning- it will turn everything yellow. Wear gloves.

Also tea tree oil is a good anti viral-fungal-bacterial. Careful it can burn open wounds. Mix it with coconut oil. You can put it in a spray bottle so you don't have to rub it on. Good luck.

Internal parasite infections and the waste that they create can cause serious skin issues. Try going to a naturopath and get tested for parasites There are many good herbal formulas if that is the issue. Good luck.

For Bamagirl and teeg--I wonder if I know you from work? My entire dept has had a rash recently. All we can think is that they worked on our ac and maybe we got a dose of mold or dust or something. Mine & 1 colleague cleared quickly, probably because we eat clean and are aware of our health. The others are on all sorts of creams and pills. They are getting better, almost 2 weeks after it began. I agree with Mama-clay packs to draw out the moisture and dry it up. I feel it started at the foot and worked its way up to the knee due to something picked up off the floor. Hopefully yours will resolve as quickly as mine.

My dear husband has a rash. Can anyone tell me what to try? He has several places that have broken out. Behind his knee and on the top of his foot it looked like poison ivy at first. Blistery, then crusty. When he washes, the blisters open and look bloody (not bleeding out, but you can see blood on the skin surface below the blister). It's been several days now, and the area is looking bruised under the crusty blisters--like a real reddish bruised area. This rash came after the first spot I saw, which was on the bottom of his foot. (all are on the left side). He was taking off his socks and I saw a round, reddish spot. Took a look and it had several blisters in it, looked pussy.

So, I had him soak in epsom salts and then we applied oreganol to the bottom of his foot. He said, oh, put some on top because it itches. The bottom of his foot blisters opened up, looked like a regular blister, except that he had a new red spot with a pussy spot in it. Later, he got even more. No pain. The rash on the top of his foot and behind his knee itches and we thought it was shingles, but no pain.

The dr gave him a cortisone cream, but he hasn't opened it yet. Today, because the upper rashes look so inflamed, I had him just put on vit e oil. Anything else we should try?

Olive Oil, Essential Oils

I was cutting rhubarb yesterday afternoon and brushed my hand against something that stung, which I assumed was stinging nettle, because there's a lot of it right by the rhubarb. I thought nothing more of it until that evening when after washing dishes I felt a slight sting on the back of my hand again and looked at it. There where two small white patches on the knuckles of two fingers. I wondered if I'd touched bleach somehow. I tried to wash it off. I put hydrogen peroxide on it with a paper towel, which caused it to spread slightly to the backs of my fingers. Then I rubbed olive oil on it with frankensence and rosemarry essential oil in it, which I happened to have nearby. I rubbed it all over my hands. After a few minutes the sting and the white patches were gone. I looked online to see what might have caused the patches but couldn't find any picture that looked the same.

Stinging Nettles and Calamine Lotion

Thought I had Ring worm. NO!

I had skin irritations on my left hand and the irritation look just like Ringworm, the rash was in pink rings! So I thought it was ringworm. Even my elbow developed a perfect ring around the elbow itself. And since I feed stray cats and help or spay them if they need help I thought I may have gotten ring worm from one of the cats. (They didn't seem to have ringworm).

Well the irritation was frustrating (as usual) and I tried products at the pharmacy for Ringworm.

The nice Pharmacist recommended Tinactin.

The spray powder seemed to work best! But this treatment would only seem to help soothe not rid me of the rash. The rash only seemed to become dormant. And then it would return? And there were other new spots?

This only happened to one hand and limb. My right hand and limb was rash free. Then I thought maybe it was something other than Ringworm.

It also itched like crazy and when only Calamine lotion would stop the itching I then realized the rash might be something else and not ringworm. I have Stinging Nettle weed on my property (and I do weed) and I started putting Calamine lotion on the rash and noticed that I could pull little barbs out of my skin! Some of what I pulled out seemed like little wires on my elbow!

I was able to allow the Calamine lotion to dry and then I could pull little barbs out of my skin!

Prid salve for splinters also works. You place this or even Mentholatum or Vaseline on the rash, work it in and the barbs or stingers can be pulled out. I'm nearly free of the ring rash now. But it was not Ringworm.

Turmeric

You never mentioned how you used the turmeric for your daughter. Did you apply it externally or did she drink it with the water?

EC: Sounds like she drank the concoction.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Posted by Joseph (Abbotsford, Bc , Canada) on 04/20/2016

Heat rash: The stuff I'm reading hear sounds like what I have. Itchy as heck, bite like marks. When I picked them, the scab went really hard after a day. Strong scabs too.

So I'm trying the Apple Cider Vinegar now. Thank goodness for this site. I have been a fan of Earth Clinic for a couple years now.

Whoosh, I was thinking that this stuff was really bad. LOL

I used the same thing for my Seborrheic Dermatitis and it worked wonders!!!!

Just make sure that you dilute pure Sea Salt or Himalayan Rock (pink) Salt with warm distilled Water. If you are living by the Sea so much the better - that Ocean Water is actually the old Folks' medicine for any kind of skin rash :-)

I have wrestled with the same rash since I was 15. I am now, 45. In my late 20's I discovered through my derm that I had PMLE Polymorphic Light Erruption. Which is silly b/c I am olive skinned and spanish. Nonethess, she did a skin biopsy and it reacted. I suggest you ask for a biopsy and see.

If so, you have two choices: hardening or staying away from the sun. I chose to harden. against most people's opinion I tan just a bit all year long. This way, my skin keeps just enough melatonin close to the surface and can protect me from the rash. I also use 30 sunscreen when I am in the beach and my recent favorite is Beach Bum.

Good luck. I hope my notes give you early relief. Believe me, my struggle has been horrible. Too many ruined vacations and a honeymoon.

Hi R. The sad truth of the matter is that the medical industry is just that. It has become an industry for SOME. Not ALL. The fact that they don't know the simple solutions and cures is of no surprise. MOST medical doctors do not know anything about nutrition because it is an elective while they are in school, so they don't bother. They only know what the so called nutritional guidelines (designed by lobbyists and lawyers a.k.a. the food pyramid), says to do. Not the destroying effects of the sugars and grains.

Hi Notadrbuthasbrain, I too suffered from periodontal disease for years and was supposed to be toothless by now and about 7 or 8 years ago started oil pulling with a cheap cold pressed Sunflower oil. After 2 weeks my teeth were tight in my gums again and white. Look up oilpulling.com and read the testimonials. Another benefit of OP was that my eye sight came back to normal after having to wear bifocals for 3 years, I was able to read like normal. I hope that this will help someone else. Thank you for your post.

I recently had a problem with chaffing that turned into a painful rash, (for lack of a better term), down yonder. I think it may have been due to a new additive in my laundry process and heat at work. I had used powder on it for several days with some temporary relief. So after having a conversation with my mother about how honey and coconut oil rarely, if ever, goes bad (because of it's antibacterial properties) I decided to rub coconut oil, directly onto the affected area. Immediate and instant relief. I used it again the next day and the rash is totally gone. Thank you Earth Clinic for letting us share our remedies with the world. I hope this helps someone who may be suffering and needs not the embarrassment or cost of going to the doctor or pharmacist, seeking a cure.
