Hi! I am a 40 year old woman with PCOS.
I have severely thinning hair, irregular periods and a 50 lb weight gain. I have read the ACV cure on this site and wanted to know from people who have tried it how long it took before they saw results with stopping the hair loss and regrowing hair? Also, did you take ACV 2 times a day or what is the recommended dosage?
I have heard that ACV causes constipation. Any way of countering that side-effect?
I also take a daily multi-vitamin, Saw Palmetto capsule, fish oil and Biotin ( for hair) every day.
Appreciate your time and advice!

You can also use apple cider vinegar on your hair too. I use it and let it sit for bout 5 mins prior to shampooing my hair. You can add some after conditioning. Leave it in your hair and either put leave I'm conditioner or put oil ( I recommend mixing tea tree oil and lavender oil which helps regrow hair.

Thinning hair in women with PCOS is not due to hypothyroidism. It's due to excess androgens, hence the male-patterned baldness. I've had numerous tests done on my thyroid even after telling doctors that I have pCos. many doctors still don't understand the condition. The only thing that helped regrow my hair was eliminating all sugar and following an insulin resistant diet BUT also avoiding wheat and dairy. This stabilized my insulin levels and simultaneously my androgen levels as well. Insulin drives the release of free testosterone. so much so that its expelled through the scalp. That's why women with too much free testosterone will have greasy hair, falling hair, a deeper voice, excess hair on the chin, upper lip and even Lower abdomen. Once hormones are balanced noticeable changes occur. Trust me I'm a victim and witness of this unfortunate disorder. I was able to control my symptoms enough to have two Healthy babies! Now after my second I haven't been able to loose the weight and the symptoms are all back.

HI Pam,
My 14yo daughter has all symptoms you described (lower abdomen hair, excessive hair on face, deeper voice, her menstrual period stopped for a whole year only once). All kinds of tests and ultrasound, she has multiple cysts and high testosterone. Doctor wants to put her on progesterone challenge. I do believe it has to do with insuline, she loves sugary staff and I think she overdid it. How did you control your pcos and periods? Did you take idodoral tablets or isonitol d-chiro and myo? What is insuline resistance diet? THANK YOU!! Karine

Iwas diagnosed with pcos. My main problem is infertility. I am trying so hard to get pregnant through lot of teatments. Everything left with pain. One day I came across the this site. please let me know whether ACV works for pcos.

Hi, I don't know about Apple Cider Vinegar for pcos but I was diagnosed with pcos some 7 years ago. Thank God I have two kids now. First one on clomid and the second one three years later on mega vitamins. This is my recommendation - remove all sugar from your diet at least for the period you are trying for baby (refined sugar, sodas, bread, cakes, rice, potatoes etc) you will notice your periods becoming regular, also take mega doses of vitamin C (up to 1000mg daily) also take magnesium. After ovulation add Vitamin B6 to help prevent miscarriage. Good luck.

Hi Lara... Perhaps the easiest way to cure PCOS is to take lugol's iodine orally. Here is a broadcast by Dr Flechas from the Iodine Project which describes the many successful outcomes in people who have had this problem
http://curezone.com/ig/i.asp?i=21730
This is a one hour audio broadcast where Dr Flechas also describes and covers how he has cured hypothyroidism, PCOS, Fibrocystic breast disease, diabetes, varicose veins, obesity etc using lugol's iodine.
And here is another extract from another research article by Dr Flechas on the use of oral lugol's iodine to help cure PCOS:
Iodine deficiency may cause the ovaries to develop cysts , nodules and scar tissue. At its worse this ovarian pathology is very similar to that of polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). As of the writing of this article I have five PCOS patients. The patients have successfully been brought under control with the use of 50 mg of iodine per day. Control with these patients meaning cysts are gone, periods every 28 days and type 2 diabetes mellitus under control.
Source: http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/IOD-10/IOD_10.htm
So the dosage of iodine needed per day would be 50 mgs (8 drops of 5% lugols iodine) per day in a glass of water in split doses. According to Dr Flechas, this normally heals the PCOS problem within about 6 months.

I drink Kombucha Tea which I use Apple Cider Vinegar with to balance it.
Also there are many other supplements that are popular like D-Chiro-Inositol.
I also take ______Insulite's PCOS supplement system.
Vitex is a well-known herb for helping and/or black cohosh and crampbark tea. Also a good dose of Advil usually helps :)
Taking the right supplements combined with daily exercise and a low sugar diet will help you loose weight and be able to have children in the future.
So all in all I take ______ PCOS supplement series and D-Chlor-Inositol and Fish Oil. These have helped me loose 40 pounds and get my periods back.
I cannot stress enough, you need to avoid sugar and processed carbs such as bread, potatos, and sweet breads entirely.
Treating your insulin resistance will stop the symptoms you have from growing worse. And if you your doctor doesn't agree, find one who is up to date with the current PCOS research and is not so egotisical to think they know it all.

Hi Bill, I have decided that I am going to start the Lugol's Solution for my PCOS and have done some research and have read on other blogs and sites that supplements should be taken with the iodine. But when I listened to the 2 hour interview the Dr. Didn't say anything about his patients taking both and just want to know if Bill or anyone else has info. If so please post b/c I have been dealing with PCOS since 2007 and am ready to try anything to get rid of it or control it! So if anyone has any helpful info can you please email me or post it. Thanks in advance!!

Hi Ashley... The reason that the videos you saw didn't mention companion nutrients for iodine is because iodine has such widespread and beneficial effects on the body and is therefore a highly complex biochemical subject in itself. Simply put, the lugols iodine companion nutrients like magnesium, selenium, zinc, B3 etc are all there in the protocol to remove other possible problems arising, which might also cause malabsorption of iodine/iodide in the body -- the much needed companion nutrients act effectively as essential body detoxifiers, immune boosters, powerful antioxidants and are also necessary for the production of body enzymes and coenzymes support involving the thyroid and whole-body iodine storage processes, which necessarily helps to prevent problems like auto-antibody reactions caused by excessive production of free-radicals when thyroid hormone production is suddenly increased in the thyroid gland.
Here are the companion nutrients which, at a minimum, should normally be taken along with lugol's iodine on a daily basis:
50 mg Iodoral or lugol's iodine minimum (may start with 12.5 mg).
Vitamin C - 3,000 mg per day (more may be necessary to detox bromide).
300-600 mg magnesium oxide (Iodine Investigation Project participants prefer magnesium glycinate or magnesium citrate.)
200 mcg selenium. The selenomethionine version is preferred by many.
500 mg niacin (B3) twice a day (NOT niacinamide). Start lower to avoid flush. *See update in left margin on the ATP Cofactors as an alternative.
100 mg Vitamin B2 three times a day. *See update in left margin on the ATP Cofactor as an alternative.
A comprehensive vitamin and nutrition program.
(Feb 2008) Dr. Guy Abraham cautions that "excess calcium supplementation (2,000- 3,000 md/day) has been the most common cause of poor response to iodine supplementation." Vitamin Research News Vol. 22. Number 2.
Source: http://www.breastcancerchoices.org/iprotocol.html
My own further advice and recommendations, which are optional, are as follows:
Avoid multivitamin tablets like the plague. For all the reasons, see the Vitamin C article that I wrote in a past EC Newsletter -- near the end of the article.
Use Magnesium Chloride or Magnesium Oil -- Mag Oil can easily be used transdermally and is the best magnesium form to take. For more info see Mark Sircus's book called Transdermal Magnesium Therapy.
Avoid Calcium in your diet - so avoid dairy. Excess calcium inhibits iodine absorption in the body.
Take L-Tyrosine -- 500 mgs per day. Tyrosine is needed to assist conversion of iodide to iodine for storage in the thyroid and other iodine storage sites in the body.
Take Chanca Piedra herb as a tea or as capsules(1000 mgs 3 times a day at meals). CP helps to protect and assist the liver and is also hypolipidemic, hypotensive, hypoglycemic and is a mild, cleansing diuretic for the blood. CP also acts as a calcium channel blocker.
Include zinc in you protocol.
Using Ted's alkalizing protocols will also beneifit you and help cure any malabsorption or pH issues.

Bill and Lisa I have one last question before I start with the Lugol's Solution and the supplements... Am I suppose to take everything together or should I take Iodine first then the supplements hours later? Not really sure but just want to be sure so that I don't having any reactions from everything being mixed together. And is it best to Lugol's in juice or water?
(San Fernando, Philippines)
08/03/2012
Hi Ashley... In answer to you questions:
Am I suppose to take everything together or should I take Iodine first then the supplements hours later?
Take the lugol's iodine drops alone in a glass of water outside mealtimes. Start small and go slow with the dosage.
5% Lugols Iodine contains 6.25 mgs per drop
2% Lugols Iodine contains 2.50 mgs per drop
So to reach a 50 mgs daily dose with 5% Lugols Iodine will take 8 drops (8 X 6.25) and will take 20 drops with a 2% lugols solution(20 X 2.5).
Split the lugols dosage into four smaller dosages per day -- early morning, late morning, early afternoon and late afternoon. Avoid taking the lugols in the evening -- it tends to energize the body so you might have difficulty sleeping if you take it at night.
Use the magnesium(Mag Oil) transdermally whenever you like. You can also use and supplement the Mag Oil in a glass of water -- ten drops a day.
Alkalize outside mealtimes.
Take Vitamin C as Sodium Ascorbate(avoid calcium ascorbate) on its own or at mealtimes.
Take the zinc, magnesium(as a pill supplement), selenium, niacin, B Vitamins and Chanca Piedra at mealtimes.

Bill: Reading your excellent response has me wondering if I am doing something wrong regarding my Lugol's. When I was initially taking it at 8 drops of 5% Lugol's I took the supplements you suggested for the 3 months I was using Lugol's at this higher dose. After that 3 months period I slowly reduced my Lugol's intake to just my present 2 drops per day as my maintenance dose.
I thought the supplements were only necessary during the heavier detox period when I was taking 8 drops daily. I never experienced any detox side effects so assumed I was one of the lucky ones during those months or perhaps the supplements were responsible for the easy 3 months I experienced.
Either way, once I was down to the 2 drops daily maintenance dose, I stopped all the supplements. Was I supposed to continue taking these supplements for the rest of my life while taking Lugol's 5% ?
If so, I will start but I need an answer to this first. Thank you.

Hi Linda... What you did in your iodine protocol was the correct thing to do. As regards needing to take the companion nutrients continuously, you should only continue taking the nutrients that you are lacking in your diet. So, if you are worried about this, then just get a hair analysis done to show you what minerals are lacking in your own body and you will find out what's missing in your diet or you can supplement accordingly.
So my view is that if you are sufficient in a nutrient like selenium in your body -- then there is no real reason to take it as a supplement.
Generally, it is also mostly true that nutrients like iodine, magnesium, selenium, Vit c, B vits etc are the biggest culprits missing from our diets. I thnk that many of the iodine companion nutrients are advised simply because most are actually the favourites missing from our western diets on a daily basis (thereby causing other problems). Of course this lack of food nutrients can vary from region to region because of differences in soil health too.
The main reason, when you start supplementing higher dose lugol's iodine, why you must take the iodine companion nutrients is to assure that there are no other reasons which contribute to iodine malabsorption or other problems in the body.
You are pretty lucky not to have had a Herx die-off or a detox effect while supplementing higher dose lugols iodine. In America, the food is grown on poor soils which are greatly lacking in essential nutrients and this problem is further compounded because of all the food additives -- heavy metals, bad halides, pesticides, fungicides and GMO that are eaten every day. 10, 000 years ago humans moved from being hunter-gatherers to having an agricultural diet existence. Then, from the 1800s onwards, with the birth of the Industrial Revolution were born the modern farming methods and drugs that we use today. Later, chemically processed foods were touted as the cheaper and healthier alternative for an overpopulated world. Trouble is that our bodies adjust very slowly to major diet changes -- and it is a fact that our bodies still haven't really adjusted yet to our original move to an agriculturally based diet 10,000 years ago. Meanwhile the FDA and USDA continues to tell Americans what is good for them to eat. And we just get sicker and sicker as a result, while the agricultural and drugs cartels get richer and richer. You don't really need a double blind placebo trial costing millions of dollars to know that this is so obviously true...

Thank you Bill for putting my mind at rest. I was beginning to think I was in error when I stopped the additional supplements once my maintaence dose of 5% Lugols began. I was only taking a multivitamin along with some Vitamin C (1000 mg) and Vitamin D (4000 IU) each day. I have just recently read your thoughts about multivitamins so am currently reevaluating my options. There is so much info here on Earth Clinic it can get a bit overwhelming at time. The suggestion for a hair analysis is an excellant one. Now I just need to find a good lab!
Apple Cider Vinegar
Hi I am 22. I have an illness called PCOS and it causes me to have a lot of trouble with everyday life. One really bad part about it is my acne, its on my back and face. I've tried everything. Over the counter acne meds and doctor's have given me things to use, all making it worse, and really dry. Then I heard about apple cider Vinegar. I was told to poor 1 cup of the ACV in my bath water and lay in it and take a cotton ball and dab the ACV on my face. I did. The VERY next morning my face looked so much better and my back to! I am convinced so now I am also drinking a small bit of it! I feel a lot better and look a lot better.
Also, This is personal but it may help someone so its worth it. When I was 21 I suffered from a miscarriage and Due to that, I suffered (for 9 Months) from a bacterial infection. I took all meds, pills and creams, for that to, then one day I cried to my doctor telling her nothing was giving me relief and my doctor told me just to use the ACV, After a week of bathing in it, I've not had one since.
Apple Cider Vinegar

I am 43 years old, and years ago had been diagnosed PCOS. I have never been able to ovulate on my own, or have periods without the use of hormones. I started taking ACV for my mild to moderate reflux/heartburn and it has worked great for that. I take about a teaspooon of ____ ACV with a cup of water 1 (rarely 2) times per day. A side effect has been a decrease in stomach bloat, and suddenly, after all those years of fertility treatments, I am ovulating and getting a period regularly. In addition, I see a difference in my hair loss. I absolutely recommend it!!

I just have a question for you. First of all I thank you so much for your post, I have pcos and I've tried what seems like everything over the past 5-7 years and nothing has helped it. So now I tried your acv remedy, and now (about a week and a half later) my period comes!!! Im soooo excited, I need to get a ovulation test to see if im ovulating also. Anyway, my question to you is, while on your period do you continue to take the acv or not? Also what is an update to your routine now, or is everything normal?
Thanks in advance for your information.

Hello Simplyred,
I bought "organic" apple cider vinegar and began taking it (about 1-2 teaspoons a day) with water. A little over a week later, MY PERIOD CAME!!! I have taken 2 ovulation predictor tests, and unfortunately Im NOT ovulating. Im not sure if its just that my timing is off, but Im just hoping that I begin to ovulate, and that my period comes next month and the months thereon an continue to come regularly like they are supposed to. Let me know how it works for U!! Good Luck!!!

Hi everyone, I'm 40 and was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 27 which was the time my cycles started going haywire. About 2 months ago I began taking ACV with the mother by using empty gel capsules 2 times daily which totaled to be 4 tablespoons. I was so amazed because my monthly cycles started... lightly but I was still having one which was huge!! Also I have had so much more energy (I currently am 100lbs overweight) and the bloating in my stomach has diminished greatly, oh and my blood pressure has gone from 140/92 to 122/78. I will not ever stop taking ACV and hopefully as I continue my cycles will continue to normalize. Blessings... Take your ACV!!

Apple Cider Vinegar

re: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (remedy). Apple Cider Vinegar helped my PCOS! In the morning: 1-2 teaspoonfuls of ACV in an 8 ounce glass of water. Sometimes I add a little more water if I think the taste is too strong. I did it every day at first. Now that my menstrual cycle is regular, I begin ACV treatment about 2 weeks before my cycle should start. I sometimes drink ACV to help with cramps, heavy bleeding or bloating. ACV helps me with my weight loss and flush toxins from my body. It really works and I feel so much better! There are many articles online about how ACV helps women diagnosed with PCOS. Thanks and Hope to you!

Hey. 2 years ago I gave birth to my beautiful little boy. Within about 3 months of having him, I rapidly gained a lot of weight. It was close to 40 kgs! I have also noticed that my hair just wont grow, I have really really terrible acne, and so much body hair! Its so depressing. I am 22 and used to be thin and attractive and get honked at everywhere I went, I havent had a single man even look twice at me in almost 2 years, not even my husband (who has looked elsewhere).
I recently had an ultra-sound as I suspected that I had cystic ovaries, and it turns out I do... Praise the lord! So I went back to my doctor who told me that there is no cure whatsoever besides weight loss, but that PCOS stops you losing weight!!! I pretty much wanted to jump off a cliff. She said I may want to consider lap band surgery to lose the weight, so I decided to search good ole earth clinic instead! Im sitting here with my disgusting cup of Apple Cider Vinegar in the hopes of curing me of my ugliness soon! Will keep you all posted on my progress.
Thanks for the suggestions people, please keep them coming. Its my only hope!

Hello,
Good luck with your weight loss. Below are some things that helped me tremendously with loosing about 80 lbs.
Green veggie juice every morning, made fresh from celery, cucmber, parsley, ginger and lemon.
Increased consumption of sea veggies like kelp, dulce, etc.
Coconut butter and coconut oil in cooking, as well as 2 tablespoons every morning.
Elimination of sugar, white and starchy substances.
Increase of good fats like avocado, raw nuts as well as coconut products.
45 mins of brisk walk.

Just a little something I've found. I drink my ACV in orange juice, you can still smell it but you can't taste it. I also take it for PCOS and acne. After about a week, I had a period finally and it wasn't horrible like they usually are. Still waiting to see if it helps with the acne my PCOS causes as some ladies have said it has. Good luck everyone! After trying all the things the doctor gave me and spending a ton of money on prescriptions, etc... Who knew a $5 bottle of ACV was just what I needed?!

I am also taking Dong Quai @ 6 capsules per day as well.
I am also going to the store today to start the ACV.
Staying prayed up and encoraged by so many testimonies on here. Can't wait to start periods again, ovulate and have my first of many babies;) Thanks everyone for sharing.

I have a myriad of health problems.... Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Adrenal Fatigue, Thyroid Issues and PCOS... ugh!! Anyway, I started taking ACV twice a day to help alkaline the body since I had come to find that I am extremely acidic, even after changing my diet.
I noticed that my PCOS improved almost immediately. I got my period every 28 days (which has never happened)! I tried testing the ACV theory since I do end up doing lots of various things for my various ailments, so I stopped taking ACV regularly and lo and behold... My period did not come every 28 days. Once I started it up again, I am like clock work. I take 2T ACV w/ 1/4t of baking soda twice a day. I also eat gluten free, sugar free, limit my grains to 1 a day, eat lots of protein, have lots of healthy fats and limit my fruit intake. I have insulin resistence like with most others with PCOS, so limiting sugars, even natural sugars and eliminating most grains is very helpful.

Hi there, I've read that some people have been taking a few teaspons of Apple Cider Vinegar in a bit of water to regulate their period , as I believe you have. Anyway, it's been two weeks today since I started && no period :( Most people got it a week and a half later, should I keep at it?? Also, it's not 'organic' Apple Cider Vinegar as it is impossible to find it, it is unpasterized and free from preservatives, however I am now concerned it will not work because it is not organic... :( x

Ally-To find organic ACV try your local farm stores, like Farm and Fleet, Big R, Tractor Supply etc. In our stores organic ACV is located with the canning supplies as it is used in canning. Or try finding a local organic market, though it will be more expensive at the organic market then the farm stores.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Blackstrap Molasses
I just want to thank Earthclinic and everyone who shared their stories because your stories really helped me. I was bleeding continuously since late January 2012 and as of yesterday it stopped all together. I really believe Spirit lead me to this website. I figured out, via symptom list, 1 month ago that I was deficient in magnesium and iodine. I was diagnosed hypothyroid about 3 years ago. I was also briefly diagnosed with being Vit D deficient and was prescribed 5000IU of D3 for 2 weeks until the doctor ruled my levels to be back to normal.
I think with me being allergic to fish, since birth, and with having to take a short sale on the selling of my home, money loss, that I was unable to eat as much seafood and nuts that I usually wood to make up for it. To make a long story short I bought J. Crows liquid iodine and started supplementation a month and 2 weeks ago, I also suspected that I may have had calcified uterine fibroids so on top of taking geritol pills once a day and 3000mg of Inositol with folic acid, and B-complex I also added 400mg of magnesium citrate 2x per day, and so not only did this save my hair and instead of me going through 2-3 overnight maxi pads per 24 hrs per day I was now down to just 1 overnight maxi pad per day. I have to admit I read this website before around early 2011, when I should have been seeing the signs that my body was in distress, and I thought I would not have to resort to molasses or apple cider vinegar well I'm glad I did.
I made myself a coffee mug full of tea which included water, 2 capfulls of ACV(apple cider vinegar with mother), 1 squeeze of real lemon juice, and 1-2 teaspoonfuls of unsulphured blackstrap molasses. I drank this 2x per day, morning and evening. I know everyone's body is different. I thought due to me being obese that it would take a week or month for me to see results but in my case it took really just the first 2 days by the 3rd day I just drank 1 cup and by the 4th day I decided to only drink it if I saw spotting and I have not. I want to also add that I do suffer with PCOS and a week before I added the J. Crows iodine I also added extra b-6(1 capsule) and zinc supplements(1 25mg tablet) to help my body create progesterone to get me balanced again. For me all of this helped to gradually get my body balanced but the kill shot was definately the BSM, and I was able to do my 40min workouts again. I did research and I had no idea BSM had iodine, iron, potassium and so many other vitamins and minerals our bodies need. *For anyone reading this please listen to your body. Not listening to mine, inspite of genetics, definately was a factor in me becoming hypothyroid and PCOS. * I hope to share again in a few months with news of BFP. Wish me luck.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Honey

I am 30 years old and diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome when 21. Never on pills but had cycles every three months. I started taking apple cider vinegar last year for cold and sore throat. I realised that my periods had come fairly regularly compared to my history. So I started taking it regularly. After adjusting the qty and dosage for a few months I found that taking a half tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar with half tbsp honey in warm water just before bed suited me the best. I am very glad that I have had 10 cycles in 10 months. My suggestion is natural route does work. We need to be patient and find what works as a few herbs or supplements may not work for all. It's a great feeling to finally be normal with regular cycle.

Chaste Tree Berry

I've was diagnosed with PCOS in 2011. Prior to knowing about my PCOS, I stopped taking birth control (on BC 10 years from 18-26) and I didn't get my period for 6 months. My face broke out completely and my facial hair darkened like crazy. I went to my gyno and he did an ultrasound where he checks your ovaries. I had cysts all over them and he told me I had PCOS. Since then, I have completely changed my diet (organic meats and leafy greens, cut out processed crap and added great multivitamins to my daily regimen). On top of my daily supplements, for the past year I have been taking Vitex Berry (mainly Chaste Berry extract: 2 pills in the AM) and my periods are now more regular than they have ever been off BC. My cycle now ranges from 27-33 days. Now that I believe I have my PCOS more in control, I have a bacterial infection down there that my gyno said was because of husband's sperm's PH balance and that will never go away. I am desperate to clear this infection up as the odor is not the best and the color is off (greyish/green tint). I have tried many things that make it better but none yet that have made it disappear. I am taking a regular women's probiotic, put teetree oil on tampons to mask the odor, tried tee tree suppositories, etc. I am skeptical about douching bc I've read its pretty bad but am interested in an ACV douche, thoughts? I am also looking for a great gynocologist (a doc with PCOS knowledge as well that is more into holistic treatments versus antibiotics) in the SF Bay Area... Anyone have a suggestion??
Thank you :)

I cured a bacterial infection that was supposedly incurable AND HPV - I have been HPV free now for 2 years- by getting colloidal silver and aloe gel (it also has tea trea oil) and putting a little oregano oil in as well (about 5-10 drops - mix it in so it is not a concentrated and inserting it using a vagina applicator (you can use a tampon applicator, just remove the tampon and fill the tube. Do it at night and lay down immediately or when you insert it. The burning will stop in a few minutes. There was some shedding afterwards, but it stopped all issues I had down there. I also eat an extremely clean organic diet with no sugar, starches etc and did a juice cleanse but I feel this is really what cured everything as far as this issue was concerned. If you want to systemically also help - drink green drinks with 1-3 cloves of garlic juiced in them (start witn one clove if you aren't used to it and follow with water). I hope this helps - or helps someone out there.

I will try the chaste tree berry. I would try the ACV douche, it can't hurt you since it is natural vs chemical/fragrance ones from stores. Also have you thought to have your husband drink ACV/water mixture to help balance ph in sperm. Not sure it if will work, just a idea I am throwing out there to avoid future infections.

Hi,
I was in the same boat but I did the Apple Cider Vinegar diluted with distiller Water. One part Apple Cider Vinegar to 2 parts water. I used a turkey baster from the dollar store. Then I got a tampon and dipped it in coconut oil with oregano oil. I used the organic wild oregano oil about 15 drops per tablespoon of coconut oil. It burned for about a minute but then I felt relief. My odor was gone and all was great. A month later after having sex with my husband a few times the symptoms came again. I did the same regimen and it went away. The doctor blamed it on my husband too, but since he can't do much about it at least now I know I can.

Pam, hopefully you've already found a solution to your vaginal infection, but I'd try treating your husband with the antibiotics at the same time you are treated. That happened with me. Once we were both treated everything was okay. if you do that and it doesn't work, buy a parasite cleanse from the health food store. That has been known to cure chronic BV

I have PCOS as well, and I have issues with bacteria from my husbands sperm PH. It's obviously from that because within hours after sex, my smell has drastically changed and that's even with urinating and bathing right after sex. In learning my problem, a friend suggested douching with equal parts water and hydrogen peroxide. Although I had always been adamantly against douching, I tried it out of desperation. It worked so well! I also noticed that it also helps me to start a delayed period. Just thought I would share my experience! I want to try the chaste tree berry!
Chaste Tree Berry

In 2010, I was having cystic cramps and did not know it. Cramps all the time, very painful for months. After going to the doctor and trying a few medicines they gave me (which only made my emotions worse - like bi polar extremes worse - and nothing helped the pain), I decided to try chaste tree berry. It got rid of the cramps almost immediately. I also did not have my cycle for nearly a year due to undiagnosed PCOS. I began taking this and after about 2 months I got my cycle. Then I've had it regular ever since. I haven't been taking it as regularly now, but I haven't had any pain return and if my menstrual doesn't come I take it again for a few weeks and it comes back.
Also, I noticed that when I have too much soy products the cramps begin to return- if I keep taking my vitex, they aren't nearly as severe as they were.
I am so happy with the results of this herb. Now if only I could find a good cure for the hirsutism which seems to just be getting worse.
Chaste Tree Berry

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was eighteen. I hadn't had my period in seven months by the time I went to the doctor. He put me on birthcontrol so that I would get my period. It worked, I did get my period. Three years later when I decided to go off...my period disappeared too. After a year of barely having periods again, I talked to a nutritionalist who recommended chaste tree berry (VITEX). I got my period three weeks after starting it and my period started coming regularly at 31 days. I went off of it after ten months and my cycle has shortened to 29 days. I have only missed it twice since then. Once was about six months after going off of it. My nutritionist said that I went off too soon and that I should stay on it for eighteen months to make sure my hormones were completely balanced. The second time, about three and a half months ago was way better. I missed my period because I am pregnant. Chaste tree berry also helps treat infertility :) which affects most women with PCOS!

Chaste Tree Berry

I have read everyone's comments and I would also like to add another natural form of attempting to regulate your period. My doctor recommends chasteberry extract - liquid form - add 23 drops to tea or room temperature water and this should be taken for 3 months before you can see any changes. I'm on my first month and I'm supposed to get my period soon. So I'll let you know how that turns out.
Dietary Changes

I was diagnosed with PCOS 2/2019.
I've always had irregular periods since puberty at 11. I grew up on junk food (90s kid) and continued to eat that way throughout early adulthood (fast food and junk food). I developed psoriasis when I was 12 and it gradually got worse over the years.
In 2010ish I had an episode where I bled very heavily. Massive blood clots, could not make it to the bathroom without my vision turning white, head pounding, heart palpitations. I eventually recovered but never tried to figure out what happened. The same episodes happened again in 2015 and 2017. In 2017, I was hospitalized twice and the second time I was sent to ICU because my hemoglobin dropped to 2.4. They put me on birth control for the first time (high dose estrogen) and my bleeding stopped.
I continued to eat bad (chips, cookies, fast food, etc.) even though I am vegan. I never ate healthy. In 2019, I went to the RE (reproductive endocrinologist) because me and my husband could not get pregnant. She diagnosed me with PCOS after running tests. Since then, I still ate bad.
Starting this year 2020, I made the change to eliminate all inflammatory foods and get my life back. I was tired of going back and forth of being anemic. I cut out gluten, artificial and all sugars, refined oils.
I have lost 48lbs! PCOS is a low grade consistent inflammation disease and symptoms get worse from insulin spikes. Unfortunately, I am still dealing with irregular periods but that just tells me that I have a long ways to go.
My journey does not end here just because I lost 48lbs. I'm going to keep going until I get my symptoms under control.
My daily routine consists of: Intermittent Fasting Hot Green Tea (I can feel a huge difference when taking this daily on my testosterone levels)
11am-VERY LOW INTENSITY Indoor Cycling
11:30am- VERY LOW INTENSITY Weights >10lbs (push, pull, legs 5x a week)
12pm- Eat My Heaviest Meal (consists of whole foods; choice of beans or pulse, big bag of steamed veggies and choice of vinegar based sauce, choice of spices), extra virgin olive oil, cooked in cast iron pan. 2-3 squares of 90% dark chocolate lemon water throughout the day drink as much water as possible 5pm-Berry Smoothie with Myo-Inositol (blueberries, almond milk, chia seeds, vanilla pea protein, banana or dates) Gingerbread Smoothie with Myo-Inositol(blackstrap molasses, ginger powder, cinnamon powder, almond milk, chia seeds)
My period schedule: Prenatal with applesauce with breakfast and inositol with lemon water 23g Chelated Iron with lunch Blackstrap Molasses shake for dinner. Ibuprofen when I'm really desperate. I don't exercise during this time. My periods are extremely heavy and prolonged.
Massive clots then drop every time I go to the bathroom and flooding of bright red blood for 3 days then I spot the rest of the month.
Focusing on anti-inflammatory foods, healthy carbs, fiber, and loads of iron rich foods really helps me! P.S. I forgot to mention above that I had to have 10 blood transfusions and platelet transfusions. That's how much I bleed! Also I drink red raspberry leaf tea in the mornings in place of green tea if I feel like it, I feel it lightens up my period a bit.

Hi Monica
I commend you for all you are doing to control your PCOS. It takes a lot of perseverance and the right mindset which isn't always easy.
I would suggest you add Chasteberry (Vitex Agnes Castus), a few drops of tincture in water first thing in the morning. It should reduce the heavy blood flow and help to regulate your periods.
Good luck and hope you keep getting better.

Dietary Changes

Diet Change to help PCOS
To give a little backstory to indicate my history and symptoms. I'm 32 and I haven't had a period consistently without medication since I was in high school. I've always been overweight, minus when I was born, which I was underweight. In recent years, I have had dark hair growth on my chin and upper lip. I would occasionally get pangs of pain around my ovary area.I didn't know why I didn't have a period, and I didn't have insurance, a job or means of transportation to get to a doctor, so, it went untreated for years. When I finally did get a job with insurance I was 24. I was put on birth control and other things, and that made me have a period, but without it, I went back to the same situation I had before. I looked it up what it could be causing this, and figured it was PCOS. My doctor said, "The tests are weird. We could give it to you and you test positive when your negative and you could test negative when your positive." Basically hinting that it was a waste of his time, and seeing as how I had never had insurance before that, I had so many questions and probably seemed like a hypochondriac to him. I told him that sometimes I would get sharp pains in my ovaries, and he said, "You can't feel your ovaries." I quit that job to relocate and lost insurance. I managed to get to the health department a few times and they just gave me some generic birth control and it didn't treat it, it just made me have a period. Now on to current events.
Recently, I had had enough of being overweight and generally unhealthy. I had done the Atkins diet previously and stopped because my dog died and it made me not think of dieting anymore. That was in 2012. In April 2016, I decided to do a fruit and veggie detox that my two friends had done, and had lost weight from it, and I figured, why not? The detox is essentially 3 servings of fruit a day, no more. Select veggies you can eat as many as you want. No oil, no carbs, no dairy, no caffeine, no sugar, etc. only fruits and vegetables, no vegetables/fruits that have natural oils such as coconuts or avocados. I stuck to this somewhat for over a week, because I felt I hadn't done 100%, so I was going to go at it longer. I finally reached a point of being lightheaded alot and craved a steak. I went out to eat with friends and ate a steak and salad, which I ended up getting sick on. I don't know if this was due to my detox or the food was bad, or what. After I got over that, I went on the Atkins diet. Except I tried to not eat the full fatty meats, I tried a lower fat meat. As of a month after I began, I lost 14 pounds. I've gone down a shirt size and down a bra band size. Yesterday I began spotting. I was so relieved to finally see some semblance of a period.
While I'm dieting, I'm also on this 'get all the toxins/toxic things away from me' kick. I use conditioner that's made of 18 silk amino acids (search it online, you may find the one I use) and it leaves my hair SO soft. I'm trying to not use my name brand deodorant, because of aluminum and other chemicals/toxins in it. I saw a video about using coconut oil as a deodorant and instead of shaving cream. I tried it last night. I shaved with the coconut oil in all the normal places I shave and it was nice, it was different, but I was careful in case of razor burn, but I didn't get any of that. Of course, you're left with the coconut oil on your skin, but I didn't try to wash it off or anything. I kept the coconut oil on my armpits and as of almost 7 pm the next day, I don't smell. Maybe slightly, but you'd have to actually get your nose in my armpit to really notice. I haven't majorly sweated yet, but I will report back on that if anything changes or to just keep y'all updated. I also wash my face with my shampoo, as it's a seboregulating shampoo. I then tone my face with a 50:50 mixture of Apple Cider Vinegar and water, then I moisturize my face afterwards with coconut oil.
I do have a question: I have redness on my cheeks, chin and under my jaw. It's constant and I feel it may be broken capillaries. Is there a way to fix this? I'm trying to remedy a lot of things, and generally make myself healthier all around.
