Garlic Steam Inhalation for Respiratory Illness

Years ago, I was speaking with an elderly Croatian woman whose family lives in my town about how they treated respiratory illnesses back in her native country. Growing up as a child in a communist eastern block nation, they were very poor and their government controlled access to medicines. So, folk remedies were very popular throughout the communist nations.

She taught me how to use garlic as a steam inhalant. She said, by steaming the garlic cloves in a pot of boiling water and funneling the steam with aluminum foil over the pot or similar device so the steam is channeled and comes out as a stream, the sick person can stand over the boiling pot and inhale the steam deep into the lungs for 10 minutes (take a 1-2 minute break if you need too but continue for a full 10 minutes) and thereby place the medical properties of the garlic (allicin) into the lungs where the disease is located. Repeat several times daily.

I have used this remedy several times in the past when all other remedies have failed. Alot of people don't like this remedy simply because it's garlic and people don't like the smell (including myself), but I guarantee you it is a sure fire remedy that gets results.

Here is an old saying: Garlic will make you lose your friends but re-gain your health…

Garlic Tea Steam Inhalation – (Croatian Folk Remedy) Mix 3 to 5 crushed garlic cloves (I prefer Chinese white garlic) in a pot of boiling water and cover your head along with the pot with a large beach towel (steam should not escape from it).

Another method I've used is to use a tea kettle or large sauce pot and as the steam comes out, place your head at a safe distances so you can inhale the steam but not burn your face.

WARNING: Use Caution When Using Hot Steam! If you happen to burn yourself, immediately place burn under cold water for 5 minutes. Also wrap it with a washcloth soaked in apple cider vinegar for 30 minutes and it won't leave a mark or blister.

Inhale the steam deeply and slowly to get relief from sinusitis, lung infection or cough. Do it at night to thin the mucus and clear the infection. Garlic steam inhalation process will also work well for treating sinus infection in children.

Nebulizer Method – Add 1ml (20 drops) Tincture of Garlic to medicine cup and top off cup with Saline water. Nebulize several times daily til better. This method works better for the elderly and very young.

In the medical text, Charaka Samhitha (written somewhere between 400-200 BC), the Greeks, Romains and Egyptians, all prescribed garlic has been used as medicine to treat asthmatics and other respiratory ailments, to thin mucus and relieve coughing, chronic rhinitis, tuberculosis. Native Americans used garlic in the tea to treat flu-like symptoms. Louis Pasteur, the well known microbiologist, reported that 1 mm of raw garlic juice was as effective as 60 mg. of penicillin in killing bacteria (1858).

In the 19th century, garlic was considered as one of the important drugs and used as a stimulant, expectorant, and tonic. The therapeutic properties of garlic were also accepted by a large group of the population (Miyers 1996). The book ‘The home book of health ‘, written by John Gunn in the year 1878, described many therapeutic values of garlic. It has been recommended as a diuretic, as a general tonic, for the treatment of infections and in the treatment of pulmonary diseases. (Moyers 1996).

Garlic for Coronavirus: Australian garlic kills COVID and flu with ‘99.9 percent efficacy, ' new study finds (Watch Video)

Could this type of garlic help fight against COVID-19? | 9 News Australia

Garlic is known to be good for killing bacteria, fungus and viruses. It has long been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. A world-first study reportedly shows certain garlic varieties can kill COVID-19 and the common flu with “99.9 percent efficacy.” The new research was released by The Peter Doherty Institute, reported The Australian Financial Review.

Scientists at Doherty have been researching garlic properties over the past 18 months. They found that a certain Australian grown garlic variety has antiviral properties with up to 99.9 percent efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 and Influenza type A viruses.

The research involved in-vitro testing against the SARS-CoV-2 and Influenza type A viruses using garlic ingredients extracted from exclusive Australian grown garlic varieties.

“We wanted to know if these strains had the possibility of killing COVID-19, ” Dr. Julie McAuley, manager of the Doherty's high containment facility COVID-19 research lab, told The Australian Financial Review. “I thought it might fail miserably. We blindly tested over 20 varieties. We found one of AGP's products could reduce the infectious titre of SARS-CoV-2 and influenza by 3-log-fold (99.9 per cent). We barely detected any remaining virus genome, indicating nearly complete virucidal activity.”

Dr McAuley said the variety was tested across different sites to ensure the results were not related to the environment, nutrients, water or any other factors.

Allicin was shown to inhibit clinical isolates of lung pathogenic bacteria from the genera Pseudomonas, Streptococcus, and Staphylococcus, including multi-drug resistant (MDR) strains, was demonstrated.

Antimicrobial activity

Garlic has been shown to have broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against many genera of bacteria, viruses, worms, and fungi. Numerous published in the US National Library of Medicine
National Institutes of Health studies (28,454 to be exact), as far back as 1944 and as recently as 2023, have demonstrated that fresh and vacuum-dried powdered garlic preparations are effective antibiotic agents against a wide range of organisms including, a few examples are:

  • Citrobacter sp.

  • Escherichia coli

  • Klebsiella pneumoniae

  • Mycobacteria

Grapefruit Seed Extract

Recently I had a surprising elimination of a post nasal drip. I've dealt with them for 20+ yrs. I take serrapeptase intermittently but had not taken it for months. Then a few weeks ago I had a bad bout. Was miserable. I had just bought Zinc & elderberry lozenges and that night, after waking up coughing, reached for them and popped one in my mouth and went back to sleep. When I woke, it was the strangest feeling in my throat/sinus area; dry like the Sahara feeling. The drip was gone. The strange feeling remained for 2-3 days but it was almost miraculous how it stopped the PND. Maybe bc I was laying down it was able to directly affect the area, as opposed to being upright. I don't know other than it was an extremely surprising & welcomed effect!

For chronic cases (which I no longer have) I highly recommend Grapefruit Seed Extract (aka 'GSE'). The root cause of sinus infections and PND is mold and fungus. A recent study of chronic sinusitis and fungus done by the mayo clinic found that a whopping 97% of people tested had an average of 2.7 types of fungus growing in their sinus cavities. And they were successfully treated for chronic sinus infections using antifungal medications treatments. But what was found to be the most effective antifungal agent, by far, was the natural remedy of grapefruit seed extract (GSE)! ... Same goes for most respiratory infections.

I got home from the hospital from pneumonia and was not OK. Started immediately, I got empty capsules and filled them up 15-20 drops of extract fit in each cap (30 drops, twice daily). Amazing remedy! I've read ppl opening nasal spray bottles of saline solution and adding a 3 drops of GSE and spraying that into their sinuses every 3-4 times daily. Our medicine cabinet won't be without this. Research it for yourself. And lastly, buy the GSE that's been around forever (red label & cap), not the newer ones that I hear are not as potent.

I am a researcher, thus I can suggest this curement, since currently it had amazing results on bronchitis.

For coronavirus curement, simple cough, severe bronchitis or pneumonia I can suggest you try using these ingredients. This curement was developed by me.

I suggest using this:

a) 30,000IU vitamin D per day (notice here the dosage is 30,000IU and not 3000IU) for three days (in case symptoms persist, take for another two days).

b) 600mg Magnesium Citrate per day

Probably you will see amazing results, since already in two different occasions, it eliminated cough in 2 days and on another occasion it eliminated cough in three days.

Use this curement completely on your own responsibility or inform your doctor as to supervise supplementation.

Great news to share! I came down with a nasty bug that turned into pneumonia (thanks to my doc who didn't do anything after a week and I was too out of it to think or come here). Since when the lungs start feeling odd, I nebulize with colloidal silver and also Bill Munro's HP Therapy. Knocks it right out. Bought a travel nebulizer and don't leave home without it.

Hello, I have a question, My 15 month old son was sick with a lot of cough, some fever and after taking him to the doctor, he said he had a virus. We had a hard time giving him his medicine because he wouldn't swallow it and the next day the cough got a little worse and you could tell he was weaker. So we took him to the Emergency Room. After putting him the mask, you know, the nebulizer he got better. After doing an Xray the doctor said my son had pneumonia so we were told to really give him all his medicine, antibiotics and stuff (which we did).

Then at home 4 hours later he was coughing a lot again, almost as bad as before. So I read somewhere here that you can help your body fight a virus by spraying hydrogen peroxide. I was scared first because my son is so young (15 months), but I was desperate. So I took the regular 3% hydrogen peroxide that they sell in the stores and put a small amount (enough to make it wet) in a piece of cloth and wiped his feet, legs, hands, belly, chest, back and a little of his arms and you know I watched him carefully. Shortly after I would say like 15 or 20 minutes afterwards his cough diminished a lot. It wasn't completely gone but I could tell he felt a little better.

After 3 or 4 hours, the cough started again and I did the same thing and again it helped him diminish the cough and was able to sleep for some hours. Then 3 hours later I repeated again and it helped. The next day and following days I didn't think it was neccesary to use the peroxide because his cough had diminished considerably.

Now my question is: what did the Peroxide do exactly? or was it just coincidence, because they gave him antibiotics and other medicines at the ER and also the next 5 days we were able to give him his antibiotics and medicines. I am pretty sure the Hydrogen peroxide helped but I can't say exactly how. I don't know if I would recommend this because, everybody is different and children are more sensitive and fragile, but I am sure that the peroxide helped him with his cough. Do you think maybe the peroxide made him sleepy? I doubt it but I am looking forward to your reply. Thank you in advance and I think this site is great. It helps a lot.

Sarah, I'm not a chemist or a doctor, but I've also heard that hydrogen peroxide is very effective against viruses (virii?). However, I would not discount the healing energy of your touch with the swabs. The cooling effect, probably in a nice, calm home enivronment (not a clinical doctor's office or hospital) in which to receive his 'medication. ' I'm certain there was a physical effect, but I feel quite strongly that the touch was just as important. You soothed your baby. Your baby was able to sleep, and sleep is critical to healing. I say "all the above. " :)

Hi Sarah from Newark, New Jersey: Hydrogen Peroxide creates an oxygen rich environment where viruses can't live and good bacteria thrive. See Earth Clinic's "Remedies"; Hydrogen Peroxide Cures & Hydrogen Peroxide Inhalation Method. I think you did exactly the right thing rubbing it on your infant - skin absorbs what you put on it. Brilliant, great job! Now that your son has had antibiotics, research also Earth Clinic's "Remedies"; Acidophilus Cures and "Ailments"; Antibiotics Side Effects.

Yes, Thanks so much for your comments, Melissa and Lisa, you know? about a month after all that happened I noticed my son was getting something, like a cold or the flu, because he had a little fever, he was a little less energetic, etc. So again I rubbed him with peroxide and it helped again. The peroxide helps to stop whatever virus or other thing from spreading or continuing to harm your body. I also agree about the importance of the soothing touch, and even when I wasn't in favor of the antibiotics, (specially since it seems this was a virus) I was too scared to risk not obeying the doctor. I never thought something so simple as Hydrogen Peroxide could help so much. Thank you guys for your explanations and information and thanks to Earth Clinic, I am learning a lot.

It gets absorbed through the skin. I read on a cancer blog that this is standard procedure for cancer suffers being treated in their care. You must be careful as it kills all bacteria both the good and bad, so a probiotic is in order when using it, milk kefir is the best and easy to make at home. CDS water the aqueous form of MMS is easy to make and does the same thing but will not kill off the good bacteria. You don't get the common side effects of MMS with CDS Water. You can just put it in some water and drink it or just put it in a jar and leave open by the baby or whoever it will diffuse on its own but will need to be replaced in 2-3 days, so this can get expensive. You can also use this in a vape pen or a small cold nebulizer, no need for any mask, just get the mist in his face, so he can inhale it.

I want to join this discussion because my 3.5 year old is currently suffering from Pneumonia. He had a miserable spell during the sleepless feverish night, so after reading up on this site, I tested the HP we have at home with water using the recommended methods on this site, and it looked clear. So I sprayed about 3-4 times in the back of his throat (he didn't mind it at all! ). I helped him blow his nose minute later and a lot of snoots came out. Then I witnessed his cough completely stip, his face relaxed, and he fell back asleep.

A few hour later, he woke up again feeling pretty lousy and very warm bodied. He was having a coughing fit for ten minutes and was exhausting him.. I gave him a few more squirts of hydrogen peroxide. The cough almost immediately stopped again and minutes later he got a spark of energy and said he wanted to get up. We blew out snoots as before, then he walked around a little bit, and snuggled on the couch and fell asleep peacefully.

I started a topic on HP in the humidifier just now. What do you all think?

I'm pretty sure I've got a spot of pneumonia, as I did have it a few years ago for the first time. So, I'm reading here what to do, and I've got a list going: garlic, H202, vitamin c, probiotics, sea salt, etc. Because I am a huge believer in this website (tried and true). BUT, should I go for doing ALL of these things at once? Or will that overwhelm my body? Maybe each of them in small doses? Not sure which one I need? Or if all will be great??

Hello Holly,

There's nothing wrong with taking the full set of items you list to deal with the infection... Garlic, H2O2, sea salt etc. While you're at it, why don't you add the one thing that would, in my opinion, really kill the pneumonia? Colloidal Silver. You need a vaporizer... Which turns the liquid into a steam and when I feel something in my respiratory, I make sure to breathe deeply for a few minutes Mine has a "cup" that I breathe into. I do this three times daily for a week. Always knocks out my infection that fast. I see from your post you live close to my office and if you email me at david (at) I'd be happy to have a bottle of CS for you. I give away bottles to friends and family... And have for decades. Free.

My advice the quickest way without all that complicated whooey - take antibiotic with a concentrated amount of green tea. Had pnemonia for 3 days, almost died becuse the bactera became resistant. Take 4 bags of green, tea steep in water, do not boil but get it hot enough to leech out tea; let it cool. Now you might get lit off the caffine but I survived by takeing the antibiotic and tea at the same time. What you"ll notice in less than five minutes is your infection will break. This is because the tea will kill bacteria, viral and fungal forms of pnemonia. Antibiotics will be boosted by 300%; don"t say it won't work it will! And repeat a smaller dose tommorow of the tea along with antibiotic or medication given.

In reply to Julie (Greenville, Sc),

If by, "steam", you mean that you are going to put colloidal silver in a pot and and boil it to get steam, no, that will not work. If you boil colloidal silver, the silver will remain in the pot while the water vapor escapes. You will notice that the remaining colloidal silver in the pot will start to darken from the natural light to medium yellow color to a darker golden color and if you boil it long enough it may turn brown as the silver particles become more concentrated.

A cold vapor ultrasonic humidifier will deliver plenty of colloidal silver in a relatively short period of time compared to a nebulizer which delivers a much smaller amount in a given period of time. This is an important point when you consider that the interior surface area of the lungs is approximately half of a tennis court.

How much and what strength of CS to use in a cold vapor ultrasonic humidifier?

2173 posts

Hello Cindy,

When I use colloidal silver for coughs and lung congestion, I have a very small cool mist vaporizer that only requires about 2 ounces of CS for one treatment, but most cool mist vaporizers require more ounces in my experience in order to work, usually about 4 or 5 ounces. So I breathe in from the outlet port of the vaporizer at a distance of a couple of inches and I alternate between breathing through my nose and breathing through my mouth in order to get the vapor into as many areas as possible.

I use 20 ppm colloidal silver and I do the breathing for 7 to 10 minutes per session. If I do 7 minute sessions, I will do 4 sessions per day and if I do 10 minute sessions I will do 3 sessions per day.

I never reuse any remaining silver that is left in my cool mist vaporizer, because the sonication process of the vaporizer can knock the silver out of suspension, so I put new colloidal silver for each use.

Whenever I am having a cough or lung congestion, I also use melatonin at high dose as Dr. Neel does for his Covid-19 patients at 1 mg per kilogram of body weight. I weigh about 180 lbs. which is approximately 82 kilograms so I will take at least 82 mg of melatonin in divided doses spread throughout the night and day. Not everyone can tolerate melatonin, but I do so I use it and for me it is very helpful.

I am not a doctor so I can not recommend that anyone do what I am doing, I am just describing what I do and everyone else should see their doctor to make sure that what they are doing for them is safe for them to do.

When you see your doctor, you might show him this study that discusses the use of melatonin for lungs during flu and possibly pneumonia:

Good luck and keep us updated.

Francisca, I don't breathe it up my nose! Just plain breathing the air in my mouth that has the diluted HP in it! I open my mouth, taking care the diluted HP doesn't drip out, and just take a couple of good breaths. Then spit it out and rinse my mouth. I do it a few times a day as needed.

I have not seen a General Recipe to follow for Nebulizing Hydrogen Peroxide so here is one I use.

This “general recipe” is for internal use. You can use 3% brown bottle hydrogen peroxide. I load this into my medicine cup on my nebulizer.

-As a preventative to keep infections at bay / promote healing – add 0.5 ml (cc)(or ~12 drops if using a dropper) to a nebulizer filled with 5 ml (cc) distilled saline water. Use once a day or as often as you feel the need.

–To fight a lung, bronchial or sinus infection or to get hydrogen peroxide into the body for a systemic treatment – add an amount (see below) of 3% hydrogen peroxide to a nebulizer filled with 5ml (cc) distilled saline water. Use several times. Repeat this process 4 -6 times a day and more often when fighting a virus.

✔The lowest effective dose is ~0.5 ml (cc) or ~ 12 drops (if using a dropper) in 5 ml (cc) distilled water for about 3 minutes. (As a guideline: 1 ml usually contains about 25 drops, but obviously varies with different droppers). If this is your first time using this therapy, use this dose (or even less) to test your reaction. Use this treatment every 2-4 hours.

✔Increase dose as tolerated up to a maximum ½ tsp = 2.0 ml (cc) in Nebulized 3% H2O2 will not only contact the lungs, it will also enter the bloodstream, where it will oxidize pathogens and toxins. For a maximum of 10 minutes per breathing session. Use this treatment every 2-4 hours.

Caution must be exercised by smokers and individuals who have used prescription and nonprescription drugs in their lungs, and those who are very sick. If H2O2 solution is too strong, the H2O2 reaction with a heavy contaminant or microbial presence could promote tissue-damaging inflammation in the lungs and a potentially dangerous systemic “die-off” effect, called the Herxheimer Reaction.

Warning: The following symptoms after nebulizing indicate that you are using too strong a solution - flu-like symptoms, headache, fever, diarrhea, fatigue. Consult your physician before using peroxide in a nebulizer.

Food grade peroxide should be used for anything internally because of the stabilizers in brown bottle store peroxide. It may be safe in a nebulizer, but I wouldn't use it internally for anything else, but if it does get absorbed into the blood stream, I probably would only use food grade peroxide.

I came down with pneumonia Jan 2007. Doctors at the urgent care gave me Factive and it cleared up the pneumonia at first. Then around summertime (same year) I developed a chronic cough which I felt was from the initial pneumonia. Around Novemeber I came down with full blown bronchitis, or some kind of a lung obstruction. Iran into Bill's HP treatment protocol and everything is fine now. What a rough year I had in 2007 regarding my health. This was especially difficult for a guy that has never been sick in his life. I will never stop using HP again. HI U GOOD PEOPLE, , , , , , , , SJS, I just remembered a story, so I may owe Brad an apology. I had a hunting buddy in Arkansas in the 70's who had lung cancer and 90% of one lung was removed. Years later he would relate that this piece of a lung put him in the hospital for weeks at a time with pneumonia. This happened about three times a year.

I related how we were doing Bill Munro's H202 inhalation and he should try it. A few months later he called me mad as a wet hen, saying that I was trying to kill him. He was coughing up bad stuff. Later that year he called to thank me because he had not gotten pneumonia . He never got pneumonia again for 3 years . He was a smoker and I think that was a factor for his initial problems.

Maybe Brad was a smoker and that caused his problem. Sometimes we get ahead of ourselves. Different strokes for different folks. Live and learn.

I am so angry at my doctor right now. He does blood tests all the time because I take a muscle relaxant baclofen. Why didn't he check my magnesium? He would rather have me take ropinirole that makes me sick. That's just crazy. Thank you Earth Clinic for the help with my rls. It's crazy, but the soap worked last night and I went to sleep in 10 minutes! I put the soap in my slippers for 10 minutes and it worked with the rls. I'm bedridden because of the cancer twice and they had to take my whole lung and 18 lymph nodes. I wish that i knew about this sight before, maybe my lung could've been saved. But the other lung has asthma and copd. I almost died last year! Earth Clinic saved my life!!! I had pneumonia 7 times in a row!! My caregiver and my friend that stays with me now also had to call an ambulance. I didn't want to go to the hospital with my pneumonia because I knew they would keep me and iI have 3 cats and 3 dogs that have to eat. So my friend moved in to help so I had someone else to feed my pets.

I was hospitalized for my pneumonia 5 times for a week at a time. I had to leave the last time against the doctors permission because I have conjestive heart failure and he wanted to treat my kidneys first. I tried to tell him that if he flooded my kidneys with me having chf and pneumonia I would die for sure. He wouldn't listen and he tried to force me into taking the iv. I had to get out of there fast! I went home and looked up Earth Clinic. That's when I found out that all the steroids and antibiotics were what was causing me to get pneumonia multiple times! I immediately started to lower my steroids. I was taking 160 milligrams of steroids a day just to keep me breathing! i kept taking my antibiotics.

To keep my infection at bay. I had to lower my steroids slowly but surely. I started the cure of h2o2 drops in water and the apple cider vinegar and baking soda! lo an behold, in a couple of days I had some relief from the pneumonia and my kidneys! I also bought vitamin supplements and immune support. I also started the coconut oil and dmso on my lung and doing the oil pulling with coconut oil. I also started using the sea salt for the minerals, although sparingly until my kidneys got better.

Now I'm going to need to get help with my terrible pain, cuz I went off my morphine of 90 milligrams per day! help, I'm in alot of pain but I won't take the morphine any more! .

On an upnote, I was on the highest level of oxygen and now I'm back to 2! Sometimes I can have it on 1 1/2! but I'm not going to push it! I'm taking it slowly but surely. But 2 is great news for me! I'm now able to go to my regular bathroom most of the time, and I can do some light housework! I'm gonna be able to drive soon, when I get my handicap sticker! I am so psyched to get to do some things on my own! I never thought I'd be happy to do the dishes, crazy right? but I am! I'm fighting this with everything i got. If someone else has any suggestions for me, I would appreciate any help with this! and any idea's for the pain, of course I would appreciate it.

Again Earth Clinic, you literally just saved my life! thank you, thank you, thank you for being the only thing that saved my life! I would literally be dead!

P.S. I forgot to tell you that because of the steroids i've been taking for a year, my front teeth are rotten! and I lost 2 of them! hows that for anti steroid use!.

Look into BOSWELLIA SERATTA - cheap. It's anti-inflammatory: arthritis, gut issues, etc.

Pneuomonia Protocol

Last year, traveling to Central America, I contracted Pneumonia. Because this condition is so serious being an asthmatic, I went into action with a tool chest of researched information. Since my last pneumonia episode was over 10 years ago, I pretty much have been able to keep my asthma and infections at bay through research and knowledge.....and I was better prepared to deal with this episode myself. I was not scared - I just took action! Here is what worked for me....the point is - be empowered to take action early when the need arises as it relates to your health.

1. Crush 4 cloves of garlic, let sit for 10 minutes to allow the allicin to activate. This is an important step. Then, I threw the garlic into my mouth, chased it down with an available natural juice. I did this three times a day for 3 days...then tapered to two times a day for 2 days, then one time a day for a week.

2. Downed 2Tbl of organic coconut oil for 5 days, once a day.

3. Used my albuterol inhaler every 4 hours.

4. Drank Airborne product to boost immune system 2X a day. These are easy to travel with. I used the packets that are for hot beverages.

5. Ate very, very healthy foods for 2 days.

6. Epsom salt warm bath, once a day for 3 days. 20 minutes. This helps with the smell of the garlic but also, allows you to relax your airways.

7. Drank the following tonic 2X a day - 1 Tablespoon ACV, cup of water, Tablespoon of honey - all warmed, not hot!

In case I needed it, I had a Medrol dose pack I keep that I got from my MDs office prior to leaving the United States. This was a last resort - just in case. I didn't need it but, it's great to be prepared for a trip.

During this episode of pneumonia, I learned a lot. I still traveled around but was not able to do any real hiking ect. I did not have to go to the hospital because I caught it early enough. The only thing I wish I had done earlier was put a capful of H202 (hydrogen peroxide 3%) in each ear for five minutes. My ears were not infected so, I could have used this as well to beat down the infection and perhaps the infection would have been resolved earlier. H202 cannot be put into infected ear or ruptured ear drum.

Lastly, if you travel by airplane and have a propensity to getting respiratory infections, I would suggest using Bill Munroe's H202 inhalation method on the days you are travelling on an aircraft as a preventative for infection. Just keep the bottle in your carry-on or purse. I do!

I hope this information helps fellow travelers! When we are away from our homes - having our arsenal of information and products with us makes the trips more enjoyable....Good luck!

...Just doing my part! :D

Sea Salt

Sea Salt for Pneumonia

I have (usually) mild asthma. I visited a dusty wildflower area and contracted fungal pneumonia. The doctor did not apply effective antibiotics, because the infection was fungal, and he initially misdiagnosed it. The infection continued for weeks, and hardened into chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Over the next year I tried many remedies. Then I found an interesting fact. The ocean has millions of antibacterial virions per liter. This is why there are so few bacteria there: predation. I live in an oceanside city, and have no problem getting clean, fresh seawater. I spat some infected sputum into a bottle of seawater and diluted it to invisibility. The idea was that any virus would rapidly multiply by killing and eating the bacteria of my infection. Then over a week, I sprayed the water and inhaled it. My coughing got worse, but then air began to penetrate past the blockages and I began to cough them up; some looked like french fries. I'm now healthy.

I think a similar effort might work with artificial seawater made from organic sea salt. The idea is that it must be organic so that the antibacterial virions would need to be preserved in the salt.

SEA SALT is probably good, however the part about bacteria not being in seawater is not actually true, there are times when there are a lot of bacteria in the Gulf, and there are warnings to be careful swimming or walking in it if you have any cuts.

LOL!! Too funny!! Sea water is very healing to infections, rashes, cuts etc. Why do you think Ponce De Leon when finding FL called it the fountain of youth? I had cellulitis on my leg for several years that no doctor could heal, and it kept getting bigger. Visited Mobile and waded in the sea at Dauphin Island. Looked down the next week and it was gone. Your statement is very much untrue.

We have a small beach here that is closed on occasions due to bacteria levels, so I can see truth in that but have also had a very large bad burn and was really surprised to see how well it had healed after going in salt water.

My mom had pneumonia for over two weeks, all drugs FAILED. I put pharmaceutical grade Tea Tree oil (antimicrobial) in a diffuser and her lungs cleared up IN 1 HOUR! I'm here to take notes on the Angina. Thank you everyone for sharing your stories! ALSO another thing to help Lung infections or Congestion is Mullein! It's a flower. I bought tinctures and a few drops under the tongue work almost immediately!!

Tea Tree Oil nanoemulsions for Inhalation Therapies of Bacterial and Fungal Pneumonia

DOI: 10.1016/j.colsurfb.2016.02.017

Tea tree oil (TTO) is a natural essential oil with strong antimicrobial efficacy and little drug resistance. However, the biomedical applications of TTO are limited due to its hydrophobicity and formulation problems. Here, we prepared an inhalable TTO nanoemulsion (nanoTTO) for local therapies of bacterial and fungal pneumonia. The optimal formulation of nanoTTOs consisted of TTO/Cremophor EL/water with a mean size of 12.5nm. The nanoTTOs showed strong in vitro antimicrobial activities on Escherichia coli, Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans. After inhalation to the lung, the nanoTTOs had higher anti-fungal effect than fluconazole on the fungal pneumonia rat models with reduced lung injury, highly microbial clearance, blocking of leukocyte recruitment, and decrease of pro-inflammatory mediators. In the case of rat bacterial pneumonia, the nanoTTOs showed slightly lower therapeutic efficacy than penicillin though at a much lower dose. Taken together, our results show that the inhalable nanoTTOs are promising nanomedicines for local therapies of fungal and bacterial pneumonia with no obvious adverse events.

Note: Cremophor EL is a popular castor oil derivative. Cremophor EL has a slightly lower degree of ethoxylation and is not hydrogenated.

Turmeric and Garlic

Around a year ago, my husband got where he could not raise his left arm above the shoulder. He did not think too much about it as he has an old injury of the shoulder blade. Then about 8 months ago he noticed swelling at the top of his left leg where it meets the groin that has gotten progressively worse. We don't have insurance and he refused to address the issue medically.

Then about 2 weeks ago he was unable to pull in a sufficient amount of air, so i took him up to our medical center because I was thinking pneumonia, which they agreed was the problem. They put him on a strong antibiotic, and water pills. It immediately began to improve, we also asked for and received medication to use in a nebulizer.

He lost over 8lbs in fluids from the water pills in about 9 days and his breathing was good. During follow up, we had the leg issue checked as well, and they sent him for a ultra sound-also for a ct scan of his lungs as they had some questions about what his x rays at the time we initially went in showed. they think but are not sure that the leg issue may be swollen lymph nodes. We have not gotten test results back on those yet [ct scan or ultra sound]. He was told he could try discontinuing the water pills and see if his breathing is still good without them.

He was off them 2 days but today was noticing a small amount of issues, so took one. Also today, he noticed that he can raise his arm up above his shoulder again. Because of the lymph node issue I have been giving him turmeric tincture and 1000mg of garlic [capsules] a day - hoping the turmeric would help with the inflammation and the garlic because it is a blood purifier.

At the time of this post, he has been coughing up really yellow phlegm today. He wasn't coughing up anything when the pneumonia started or b4 last night. The other thing we have noticed is when he does not take the water pills, his urine is much much darker yellow whereas with them, it is a clearer yellow.

Before he first started the water pills, the urine was a cloudy dark yellow, but when he was off them the 2 days it was just darker not cloudy. I'm not sure if there are several individual issues going on here or if its more of a chain reaction of causes. Can anybody give me their thoughts on which it might be? Or help in any way with possible treatments or avenues to pursue? He turned 60 this year and has a history of letting old physical injuries [many] heal on there own, neither of us have a lot of faith in mainstream medical care even if we could afford it.

Hi! I'm not a doctor but i have done a bit of reading. You might consider aluminum (or other toxic metal) poisoning as aluminum is thought to cause swelling. Mustard seed is said to reduce swelling. It happens to contain a bit of selenium which is needed for thyroid function but which also is said to remove toxic metals. If his thyroid is not functioning well such as from iodine deficiency he could be more succeptible to an infection such as pneumonia. You might look at the iodine protocol. Mustard powder is perhaps easiest to take mixed with coconut oil, chilled till somewhat firm, and cut into pill size portions. It can also be mixed with mashed potatoes or coleslaw. Mixed with ginger powder it makes a tolerable tea. Olive leaf and/or goldenseal would probably give him more immediate relief from infection. Echinacea taken long term can boost the body's natural immunity, too. Best wishes.

Turpentine and Castor Oil

My young son had repeated bouts of pneumonia so I decided to try a natural cure and used the remedy in the Folk Medicine book by Dr. Jarvis which used turpentine and castor oil.

The oil is warmed and a few drops of turpentine are added. I rubbed this on his chest and covered it with a warm cloth at bedtime. In the morning his cough had loosened and he continued to get better. It worked every time.

Vitamin C

I swear by using Vit C.

Having had asthmatic bronchitus for many years, I was prescribed inhaler #4 when I decided "enough is too much! ". I threw out the inhalers and started using Vit C as per the directions of Linus Pauling and Adelle Davis.

The rule of thumb is to start slowly and get the body used to it by taking 1000mg per day, increasing this every few days or every week until you hit your "body tolerance level". Pure and simple this means: until your bowels start to protest :-) Then cut back by 500 or 1000 mg until you're comfortable. And yes, in case of an illness like pneumonia (which I have had several bouts with) the tolerance level will greatly increase, as the body's own reserves of ascorbic acid are rapidly depleted.

In some cases when having penumonia, I have taken up to 15-20 grams of Vit C in one day and not had irritated bowels. It is a wonderful aid in recovering from illnesses.

However, be aware that there always needs to be an extra protein supplementation as well, as the body loses protein at a shocking rate during any (severe) illness! This will also protect any potential damage done to either body tissues or even the DNA.

A good way to make sure you get sufficient protein during any illness (and it goes down easier than, say, 6 eggs :-) is to make "Tiger's Milk" or "Pep-Up Drink", a recipe from Adelle Davis.

Finally, taking Vit C every day is a great method to protect yourself against any illness, and if an illness does grab hold of you, to make sure it goes away in a hurry. The same goes for ACV honey, which also goes a long way towards strengthening your immune system. Finally, staying away from artificial products and/or chemically polluted products is also a good way to protect your system.
