I recently sent you feedback about ginger. I have been taking it in capsule form daily now for approximately 2 months. It seems to act as a pain-killer. The relief I get is tremendous and most of the time i am completely pain-free from Arthritis and Osteoporosis of the spine. I recommended it to a friend in the US. Here are his replies in two e-mails.

Dear Suzanne: Thanks for tip. I'm going to the shopping centre where the health food store is this afternoon....and I'll get some ginger root. My ankle is in bad shape. If it were a knee or a hip....I'd have a replacement.....but they can't do that very well at this point with ankles. When we return from Viet Nam I'm looking at ankle-fusion surgery. It's not quite as bad as it sounds. One still has some movement where the leg meets the foot......and the pain stops!

Dear Suzanne: Can't thank you enough for the ginger recommendation!! I've only been taking the stuff for a few days....but the results are remarkable. I'm moving around just about pain-free. We leave tomorrow for Viet Nam and I hope to enjoy the walking.......which I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to do.

For example, some supplements I looked at said the capsules are 250 mg some say 500 mg. Also would you please recommend or share what brand you are using?

I found that eating gluten free stops osteoarthritis pain. The shooting, pin-like pains stop in the knuckles of my hands, shoulder and knees. It has been wonderful. In addition, when I walk too much, I use DMSO to stop the pain. Ice on my hips also stops the hip pain. It took about 3 weeks before the pain was gone. I am so thankful!! the gluten free diet also got rid of my 'wheat belly'!!

I have Osteoarthritis in my hands with Heberden's nodes on five of my fingers. I have read the older posts on this site, but was wondering if anyone out there is currently experiencing the same issue? It seems like they are getting bigger, or maybe it's just that I am so aware of them and look at them all the time! I am 41years old, and have days when the pain and swelling that is present in a few of my fingers is so bad that I have a hard time putting on my kids clothes and carrying them. I want to naturally get rid of these nodules!! Can anyone out there share their experience with me and if they have had any success in getting rid of them?

I just started taking the ACV, baking soda and honey concoction tonight. Thank you so much!

I also have Herbedens nodes on 4 of my fingers, have been taking ACV but not really noticed any difference. In fact, I have aquired another node over last few months. Have just ordered some Cherry juice as I have read it is excellent for gout and GP seems to think I could have gout in one very painful finger.

Vitamin B6 is excellent for the nodes on fingers. 50 to 100 mg per day for me reduced them quickly. I learned about it from a book called The Doctor's Guide to Vitamin B6. I think it is from the '70's and it is packed with information. Also take a complete B complex along with the separate B6.

Honey and Royal Jelly

Posted by Pc93 (Orlando, FL) on 04/07/2014

A friend of my mom got her fingers back to normal from being all crooked from having arthritis. What did she learn of to take care of this. You get royal jelly, the best is from the local beekeeper. It will be frozen in a jar. It is whitish. You take the portion that you bought and mix it with 3x honey. So a 1 to 3 ratio of royal jelly with honey. You then take one teaspoon a day.

Hungary Water

Hungary Water for Osteoarthritis of the Hands

I have found this formula to be helpful with pain and arthritis in my hands.

Hungary water (sometimes called "the Queen of Hungary's Water", Eau de la Reine de Hongary, or "spirits of rosemary") was one of the first alcohol-based perfumes/liniment/elixir in Europe, primarily made with rosemary. The oldest surviving recipes call for distilling fresh rosemary and thyme with brandy (vodka modern way), while later formulations contain wine, lavender, mint, sage, marjoram, costus (true ginger), orange blossom and lemon.

According to legend, it was formulated at the command of the Queen Elizabeth of Hungary, sometimes identified as Queen Isabella of Hungary or in one document "Saint Elisabeth, Queen of Hungary". Some sources say that a hermit, witch or monk-recluse first gave it to the Queen of Hungary, though most likely it was made by a monk-alchemist or a band of roaming gypsies. The water was given to the queen in order to help her headaches, and is a cure for rheumatism or gout which the queen suffered in her old age or as a rejuvenation treatment. These legends mostly date to the early to mid-17th century, so the details may have become confused in the intervening centuries.

Ingredients: (Original Recipe from 1370 A.D.)

  • 4 tablespoon rosemary
  • 4 tablespoon thyme
  • Vodka (750ml – 80 proof) to cover

1. Pour all the herbs into a one quart widemouthed glass mason jar

2. Add vodka to jar; close the jar tight and let it sit in a warm spot for 6 weeks or longer shaking occasionally (Hippocrates states both herbs must be steeped for a minimal of 6 weeks)

3. Strain out the herbs with a fine mesh – try and get all the bits out

4. Re-bottle the mixture and store in a cool, dry place

How to use:

I put this mixture into a spray bottle and spray topically on my hands at nite before bed. You will see a huge difference in your hands if repeated daily. The early recipes advise the user to also drink the tonic (though I would definitely say that you check with your doctor on that first! ).

I am treating my Osteoarthritis w. Diet, Exercise, Sun tanning and Hydrogen Peroxide. I made life style changes before I have found this site, but beside that this site gave me additional help how can I cure my condition. I am 51 years old female 6'6" and 126 lbs. I have an Osteoarthritis in my r. knee for three years. It turned really bad in July. The inflammation flared up in my knee and' I had crippling pain in my shoulders and tightness in the back muscles. The pain disturbed my sleep I slept only 3-4 hours at night and I couldn't walk. I remember I was tired since I have had this inflamed arthritis conditions, but I think I was fatigue lot's of times in my earlier life also. It was time to change my diet I thought. My new diet was eating lot's of raw vegetables and fruits and drinking fresh vegetable juices. That really worked, more vegetable juices less sourness! Spending time on the sun 2-3 times a week helped a lot also!!. People forgot about the Sun's healing power and it's FREE! My condition improved a lot within two months. As soon as I got better I started exercising.

I am inhaling 3% Hydrogen Peroxide 3-4 times a day for more than a month. It really helps before the exercise I can do more or if I overwork my knee the sourness and tiredness goes away in 10 minutes after the inhalation. I cannot live without it!

So what is my diet? Raw and some steamed vegetables, juices like fresh carrots, celery, broccoli .....eating baked fish ones or twice a week and maybe one slice of whole wheat bread (not preserved)ones a week and some gout milk yogurt. I am reading everything from Ted. I learned a lot about the vitamins and supplements also. I am drinking the apple cider/baking soda remedies for a couple of weeks since than I cannot kill my energies!! My husband said it's a miracle! The shoulder pain totally has gone my knee improved 50% at least. Four months ago I had trouble to stand up from the chair my leg was so week. Now I am able to walk fast or working out with weights (not heavy weights of course ). Thank you for these wonderful informations on your site. Regards,

Dear Sirs, I have Osteoarthritis, according to my doctor, thought it started in one hand, then wrist, then elbow, shoulder, pelvis and neck one week and moved to the same spots on my left side a week later, I am negative for the RH factor. Anyway, my skin over my knuckles used to be tight like stretched saran, and my fingers were swollen and couldn't make more than a slight "C" shape with them. I started taking juiced greens with red/black grapes with stems, celery, red apples, sometimes ginger root, carrots and red peppers, kale, spinach, cucumbers, cabbage and giving the pulp to my dog for her arthritis. She got well in about 2-3 weeks. I added turmeric with black pepper, boswella serrata pills, maca pills (a peruvian turnip) kelp pills (maca& cruciferous isothiocyanate (sulphoraphane)(active principle) interfere with iodine absorbtion in the thyroid), fish oil (3/da) vit.E(to stabilize),cat's claw pills, Chondroitin sulphate/Glucosamine sulfate pills.safflower blossom tea for IL-1(inflammatory cytokine that interfers with growth factor that maintains joint cartilage, and most recently horsetail tea (silicon) for stiffness which is since starting reduced by half and sage tea for TNF-alpha (promotes inflammation). Swelling and almost all pain and most stiffness and skin is normal, almost make a fist, still researching remaining factors to be addressed. Dog also gets boiled pigs feet for chondroitin sugars while I am seeking fresh turmeric to use because it has higher levels of volatile oils which block COX2 (inflammatory mediator)- also blocked by ginger root. I occassionaly take 1 tsp baking soda in 2 cups water. May start eating boiled beef feet broth for my chondroitins etc. I also had plantar fasciitis but it went away. I originally got the safflower tea for sore mouth from the IL-1 in my periodontal condition, then I found out it was involved in arthritis also.

Magnesium for Heberden's Nodes / Osteoarthritis

For the past few years, I've been developing bumps on the top bony joints of both index fingers. In my research I've discovered they appear to be Heberden's Nodes – they're bony swellings that form on your hands as a result of osteoarthritis. And they make using that finger or fingers incredibly painful. Starting earlier this spring the one on my left hand was really bothering me, couldn't use it, had to be conscious of not using it for anything or the pain would shoot through me. (ever try to function without your index fingers? it's very challenging).

In the last few months, I've also been getting foot cramps in the middle of the night. Wake-up-cry-out-loud-foot/toe-twisting foot cramps. (I know, I need to drink more water too).

For foot cramps, I use magnesium oil for almost immediate relief. I also use magnesium oil on my legs for my restless legs. In an effort to be proactive in the last few weeks I've been rubbing magnesium lotion on my feet and massaging them for a few minutes each night before bed. I found this great lotion that's cocoa butter with magnesium oil. Or I use my MSM lotion and mix it with my spray mag oil. Like a lightbulb going on the other day, I realized my finger hasn't hurt me in a few weeks. Hasn't hurt AT ALL. Magnesium to the rescue....

AGAIN. I use it for so many things, I don't know how people can live without it. I hope everyone tries it, it has so many uses. I wasn't even using it on purpose for my fingers, but I got results as a side effect of trying to fix my feet. Sweet!

Manipulative Therapy

Posted by Dr Bharti (Lucknow, Up, India) on 12/22/2010

Dear readers,
No other site can be better than earthclinic. Osteo-Arthritis is a disease where apart from pain relief a lot many factors should be considered. First of all it is a degenerative disorder where cartilage is damaged, spurs may be formed, space between the bones forming knee joints may be reduced. Patient suffers excruciating pain, stiffness and disability. As the diseases advances locking, unlocking and rotational movements are also lost. Structures which hold the knee joints also lose their competence. Tendons become less flexible, muscles harden. There are so many options which may temporarily reduce the knee pain. Until structural correction is achieved one cannot get permanent relief in knee joint Osteo-Arthritis.

Manipulative therapy aims at-
Release of chronic tension of muscles, ligaments and tendons forming knees, ankle joints and hip joints. Recalibration of muscles with their relationship, and
Realignment of bones. The following goals are achieved-
Relief in pain
Disability and
Stiffness. Patient may lead healthy life. After the structural correction patient is advised for exercises which may strengthen the muscles. During treatment patient may take pain relief support. In correction very simple tools like straps and ropes are used.

I suffered from osteoarthritis years ago. First only in Spring and Autumn and only on my right knee. The pain would go away with some supplements like shark's cartilage or berry supplements. After a few years nothing was helping and I had difficulty going down stairs, also up but less. Other than that I could walk normally and even run. The doctors all told me that there was nothing to be done, I would have to be on medication for a number of years and then have an operation.

I am 53 years old now and have been pain free for 5 1/2 years. How? Someone told me about a health store in Portugal which had a doctor. I went there and he advised me to use hot sand on my knee which was quite troublesome because I never went to the beach. Then he tried some electrodes and told me to go back a week later. Again he tried the same electrodes and after that another kind which hurt quite a bit. The next day I was almost pain free, left for France, spent quite a bit of time in the sun and the pain disappeared. Till today I have never had any knee complaints again! Maybe it comes back but well, I have gained quite a few years! By the way, I was never overweight and am an energetic person but never did too much exercise.

This is really interesting but could you please give more detail about what you did with the sand (sat on beach or heated it in oven, iron sand or silicious?). Also more about electrode treatment? I think other readers would appreciate more detail, even name of health store in Portugal.

Hi again Mesem, I never tried the sand but the doctor told me that I would have to warm it up in a pan and then put it in a cotton bag (he was going to bring me some from the beach but he never did because then he decided on the other treatment). I have no idea what electrodes he used but I know that he repeated the first ones on the second session and then used others, more painful ones. Here is the name and address of the shop: Alegria & Chaveiro Lda Avenida 25 de Abril 208c - Pontinha. Phone number: 00351 21 478 53 42. It is located near Lisbon, easy access by underground and the doctor did his studies in Cuba where he still goes from time to time.

Sir, For the past 3 months I have been on ACV, borax, baking soda, sea salt and occasionally mollasses for hip osteoarthritis. No luck. For the last 2 months I've taken nu-joint, several chicken collagen supplements, at the same time, also knox gellatin, magnesium, and a few others. Again no change. For the last month hyaluronic acid and colloidal silver. No change. Is there anything I should add or detract from the mix? I really do not want a total hip replacement but it is starting to look good for my quality of life. Help! I really need some ideas or help in this. Anyone with ideas? Mike

In reply to Mike from San Antonio: You mentioned that you tried hyaluronic acid, but you didn't say how much you used each day. I found that 300mg per day was a fairly effective dose for me. At 200 mg per day the positive effect was significantly less. I weigh 175 lbs. At 300 mgs per day I first noticed benefit within the first two weeks.

I take 1/4 teaspoon of borax in a liter of water 4 days per week. I use a good glucosamine combination supplement that has the following ingredients in it:

Supplement Facts:

  • Serving Size: 2 Caplets
  • Servings Per Container: 40
  • Amount Per Serving Daily Value
  • Vitamin C (as Ascorbic Acid) 60 mg 100%
  • Vitamin D (as D3 Cholecalciferol) 2,000 IU 500%
  • Manganese (as Manganese Sulfate) 2 mg 100%
  • Sodium 40 mg 2%
  • Glucosamine HCI 1,500 mg (1.5 g) **
  • Joint Shield
  • Proprietary Blend 1,350 mg (1. 35 g) **
  • Chondroitin/MSM Complex 1,250 mg (1.25 g) **(Chondroitin Sulfate, Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), Collagen (Hydrolyzed Gelatin),
  • Boswellia serrata (resin),
  • Vitamin C, Manganese, Hyaluronic Acid)
  • 5-LOXIN Advanced AKBA 100 mg **
  • Boswellia serrata Extract (resin)
  • Boron (as Sodium Tetraborate) 3 mg **

I also use Ted's topical arthritis remedy of castor oil and DMSO. I added aspirin, borax and niacinamide to the topical mix to try to improve the effect of his topical.

This combination is very helpful for me and has made a world of difference. I have degenerative disc disease, arthrits in my hips, back , neck, right knee and hands.

In reply to Cassey: I started with Ted's topical arthritis remedy and it worked after regular applications. I tried the following variation to see if I could get more relief.

I think Ted's remedy used 50% dmso and 50% castor oil. I used 60% dmso and 40% castor oil. For a small mix that last's me quite awhile I used 3 ounces of dmso mixed with 2 ounces of castor oil in a glass jar. To this mix I added 16 generic aspirin that are labeled as 325mg each. I then added a teaspoon of borax and 5 grams of niacinamide and let the mix sit overnight. The next day I shook the mix vigorously for several minutes and added spearmint essential oil to try and calm down the unpleasant odor of the mix as well as for its antibacterial properties. Shook the mix again and started using it. I'm not recomending or suggesting that anyone else try this, just mentioning what I did and how it worked for me. I also made a point of washing my hands as well as the application area before each application. I found that this mix seems to neutralize the fragrance of the spearmint oil over time so I would never make a larger mix than this and I think a mix half this size might be better so that it get's used up faster. When I first tried this mix, I applied a very small amount to a one square inch area on my inner forearm to test for hypersensitivity or allergic reaction before applying to my problem areas the next day.

I'm very glad I've found this site (Earth Clinic) and I want to thank Ted and everybody who have posted their experiences here for others to read.

Now it's my turn to report mine. I've got good news!

Last year (2009) in July I've built a fence around my yard all by my self. It was quite a hard job for one man show with all the digging, lifting, sawing, and hammering but the job was done in a week or so. That was the beginning of my osteoarthritis pain in my hands - I'm not gonna get into detail how the pain was because the ones who have it know how horrible it is.

Of course I had to wait almost 10 months for a booked appointment with a specialist (rheumathologist) to tell me what I've suspected from the beginning, and what was that for if he didn't have any solution for it.

Here is what I've been doing so far - I've started right after some search and research - and it seems to keep the pain away:

I've stopped consuming dairy products. No milk or cheese, thanks! Got soy! :-)

I've stopped consuming meat and fish. I'll pass thanks! Eat Tofu! It tastes like chicken. :-)

The reason I've stopped consuming the above is because these days these products are no longer safe due to man's mass production GMO everything. I guess I've become a vegetarian but you know what: I guess I like it and it's helping me.

Another thing is: everything I eat now is organic. No more GMO products. And according to my books I'm not spending more money because of that.

I've been using Wild Oregano Oil (10 -12 droplets) mixed with Olive Oil (1 Tablespoon) to rub and massage my hands. Wow what a great way to get rid of the pain. It works so well and almost instantly.

I've been taking the Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda on a glass of water 3 times a day like Ted says for the last 3 months.

I didn't notice much it's effects until a couple weeks ago I added a 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt to the mix and started warming up the water - I've got the idea from the water cure website and I decided to add it to the mix.

Boy, oh, boy... what a difference that made. I could feel in a few minutes it's power in action. It seems like magic. It works great for me!

I've been doing Oil Pulling too. I'm not so sure about this one but I still do it every morning - Where there's a will there's a way!

I'm not saying I'm cured. But for sure it's keeping the pain away! And maybe with the time. Who knows!

A year from now I'll be back here for an update! I hope with better news or if not these ones are still good for me.

Anyhow I hope this can help others too and if so I would be glad to see their experiences posted in this wonderful site.

A lot of my friends thanked me for this. They have been taking condroitin, glucosamine, pain killers but didn't work. I have been having osteoathritis for years on top of fibros dysplasia on the bone of my right thigh and my husband has been having backache and knee ache for so long. Thankfully, I met a very old Chinese doctor who told me to take 6 capsule (1000 mg) of Omega 3 for the first 3 months to get our system used to Omega 3. After the 3rd month, continue with just 2 or 3 (depending on how severe your aches are - I take 3 daily) for the rest of your life. It is probably not a cure but it definitely rid us of the horrible pain on our knees and back, wrist and ankles. And all my friends around my age (50 and above) tried it and they have now just depend on Omega 3 and got rid of their condroitin and glucosamine. Take them in one go. Omega 3 are harmless (they are more of EPO or fish oil) not drugs. Please do not replace Omega 3 with Fish Oil. Fish Oil does not give the same effect and may not work.

Approximately 12 years ago I was suffering with osteoarthritis in both of my knees. The Lord guided me to switch from eating regular broccoli to organic broccoli. I had been eating broccoli daily because I like it so much. After eating steamed organic broccoli daily for one month the arthritis in my knees vanished and has never returned. Praise The Lord!

Subsequently, the Lord has sent scores of individuals into my path who also had osteoarthritis and He had me give my testimony about this wonderful remedy and person after person has reported the same wonderful results by doing the organic broccoli. Some of those got rid of their arthritis in one or two weeks. Praise The Lord!

Can you please share the amount of organic broccoli you ate daily for the arthritis pain relief, and other foods like meat, fish, fowl and veggies and friuts? My right knee pain is chronic now, and I loose sleep a lot. Thank you.

Organic Broccoli
Posted by G. Michael (Reading, PA) on 12/05/2007

I am writing a book on natural cures that the Lord has guided me to write. About 4 years ago I was watching Gary Null on P.B.S. talk about the value of eating organic foods. It seemed reasonable to do since organic foods aren't sprayed with pesticides and also, the soil is richer becuase of the rotation of crops and not using chemicals in the soil. So, I decided to start eating organic broccoli every day. Also ,at that time I had osteoarthritis in both of my knees. I was already eating regular broccoli so it was easy for me to make the switch. A month later after eating the organic broccoli daily, my two sore knees were no longer sore. Praise The Lord! I started telling everyone who had sore joints about this marvelous treatment. It didn't matter what joints were involved, the broccoli would get rid of the pain. I have a friend who told me that she had two very sore ankles for about a year for which her doctor had prescribed pain medication but the pain medication didnt work. I told her about the broccoli and before she tried it she asked her doctor what he thought about eating organic broccoli to get rid of her pain. He rediculed the idea. She decided to ignore his reaction and do the broccoli. Three days later, the pain the gone. Praise The Lord! Also, her husband had two sore shoulders and he was skeptical about the broccoli getting rid of her pain. But after he saw the quick results for her he decided to do the broccoli. Within a short time his shoulers were pain-free.

Michael and since I had some organic brocilli at home I decided to give it a try. I had it raw, one small brocolli head per day and after 3 days the pain is gone!!!! And i have had these pains for years! They come every winter and get better in the summer... I am frankly quite shocked because I was pretty skeptical.

Thanks G. Michael ...may God bless you!

Hi, I have read two posts on this site from Trish from Dusseldorf, Germany on 16/02/10 and a previous one from G Michael of Reading, PA that say that eating raw organic broccoli can help osteoarthritis. Trish said she ate one small broccoli head per day. I am a bit confused what a brocolli head is? Is it a single stem (eg 2 inches across) or a bigger stem (that divides into lots of smaller stems eg 8 inches across)? Clearly it's a big difference between the two. It would be easier if someone could please tell me roughly how much would that be in grams? Thanking you in advance.
