Natural Remedies to Prevent Kidney Disease

Nephrotic Syndrome Remedies
Posted by Taurusmum (Melbourne, Australia) on 09/17/2013

I have been doing some research for natural cures for Nephrotic Syndrome for kids. I saw in the website of Dr. Andrew Saul about the use of vitamin C in kidney problems. It says and I quote:

"Nephrotic Syndrome. This condition results from tissue damage and impaired nephron function. Its association with collagen diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, etc. ) is hardly accidental, for chronic deficiencies of vitamin C (and vitamin C's helpers, the bioflavinoids) cause the very event described by Williams on page 851: "The primary degenerative lesion is in the capillary basement membrane of the glomerulus which permits the escape of large amounts of protein into the filtrate." This is because capillaries, those tiniest and most numerous of all the blood vessels, get leaky in the absence of ample vitamin C."

I want to know if anyone has had any good outcome from this. A lot of cases I've read mentioned that they usually have attacks or relapses after a cold or flu, which meant they did not have enough Vitamin C.

Could it be that vitamin C can help? Has anyone known of any real life case?
Thanks for your help.

L- Arginine
Posted by Faith (Colerain, Ohio) on 07/13/2012

Please look into an amino acid called L-Arginine... You can also take it with Ornithine and Licine, these are help boost immunity and L-Arginine increases T3 which helps the thyroid. It greatly helps the liver and kidneys, specifically the kidneys suddenly OPEN UP and start making more water than you are used to... It flushes your body so go slow... You can take Arginine at night to help sleep.... Ornithine in the day with Licine for infection control. These are great amino acids, but do your own research!

Aloe Vera, Dandelion Root

For kidney infections, has anyone tried Aloe Vera Juice? This works wonders for me. I had a lot of inflammation due to backed up kidneys. I drink 4oz three times daily and in just 1 month I lost 30 pounds and several inches all around the body. Also take 1 Dandelion root capsule twice daily. This really help get rid of the excess water. Drink plenty of water, at least 1 gallon daily. If you are having pains, that may not be fibro, but it could possibly your lymphatic system. Get a lymphatic massage. It's not too expensive and you'll feel much better after. Hope this helps.

Eliminate Carbonated Beverages
Posted by Joyce (Joelton, TN) on 03/15/2009 510 posts

Did you mean protein in the urine? Your husband would be in trouble if he didn't have protein in his blood. If protein in the urine is what you meant, the answer is probably that he is drinking a lot of carbonated beverages and that is causing swelling in his kidneys and letting the protein leak from his blood into the urine.

This is why I recommend that all people do not drink them and especially not let their kids drink them. While doing ambulatory care I ran across 4 children running from trace to 4+ proteinuria (protein in the urine). Trace is the least amount measured and at 4+ you look for big time kidney problems. Changing nothing but leaving off carbonated beverages on all 4 of them, 1 week later 3 of them were negative for protein in the urine and the 4th one who had the 4+ was down to trace. Her mother had let her drink one on the way to the clinic. None of these children had a UTI at the time of testing, but as I told their mothers, "If you want your children to keep the kidneys they were born with, keep them away from carbonated beverages". Even if you are lucky enough to get a match for a transplant, you will be needing about $l0,000 in medicine to keep from rejecting that transplant, and that medicine affects your immune system making your more susceptible to everything including cancer.

Stage III Kidney Failure
Posted by Gail (Kingston, Ny) on 05/19/2017 10 posts

Thank you very much for referral to Ted's remedies. To be honest, there are some complications which may make this more difficult

One is the fact that I have Barrets Syndrome; I tried to control it with cold pressed aloe vera gel, but it gave me severe diarrhea which increased my irritable bowel syndrome I believe caused by internal hemmorhoids since childbirth. So, I had to take Nexium, yes, I know bad, but when I stop the Nexium I can feel burning in my esophagus.

I BP has been controlled after 2 aortic valve replacements with one pharma pill and an herbal remedy for 2 years. And I have just found out I also have osteoporosis.

Does anyone know if mineral water which is alkaline is OK for the kidneys. I drink it for alkalinity but have heard the minerals may be hard on the kidneys.

I did take sodium bicarb for a while but found it burning my esophagus and stomach, same with apple cider vinegar.

As well, I am prediabetic and have always had high genetic cholesterol; but, I am boiling a soup of Leeks, parsnips, turnips, 2 potatoes, carrots and celery and my HDL is now fabulous my MD says. Thank you Janet for your reply. My my, it's soooo complicated. Gail

I just got my blood results back and I am concerned. My Creatinine Serum is high at 1.04, Sodium Serum is 142, my glucose serum is 99. All my levels are located right at the high end of reference interval or acceptable levels. I drink water, but something is not right.

If I start the ACV and Baking soda, how much water should I use at night? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Nephrotic Syndrome Remedies

Dear Taurusmum: concerning your question about your son's kidney problem... Nephrotic syndrome; you make the argument for supplementation of Vitamin C splendidly yourself!

Remember it was Dr Linus Pauling who wrote and researched the effects of Vitamin C. And the quote from the book on the subject is quite convincing.

So what do you have to lose? Vitamin C can't hurt him. Just a few observations: if you take a lot of ascorbic acid (C) at once that is not time released the result will be a case of diarrhea. So give him a time released. And also if you give him large doses, remember ascorbic acid is acidic. Some prefer buffered C. You could experiment with what works best for him. If this were me, I'd try a time released in the AM and PM AFTER meals.

On the subject of Apple Cider Vinegar for kidney infections...

ACV is awesome and should be used sparingly to treat acid indigestion. Too much ACV will cause loss of potassium... I think I am I consuming a lot of ACV... Maybe 1 Tablespoon to 16oz... Maybe way too much.

I had a bladder infection in May.. Anitbiotics cleared it up. Then I started to increase my ACV. Then a routine blood test detected abnormal proteins. The Dx is MGUS (monoclonal gammopathy undertemined signifigance. ) Probably NOT a big deal, many older people can get this and it is related to inflammation in the body (I have Fibro.. )

HOWEVER.. One of the ratios they look at is BUN:CREATININE. My ratios are high.. And have been since bladder infection. I take NO MEDS of any kind. My potassium levels are low, but low normal. At this time, I can only assume that I am drinking TOO MUCH of the ACV, flushing TOO MUCH of the POTASSIUM out of my body. That said, I do NOT want to stress out the kidneys and the filtration. MGUS has a 50/50 possiblity of progressing to Multiple Myeloma in 20 years.... AND... M. M. Causes stress on the kidneys... Who knew??

So is ACV awesome? Yes! Does it help short term? Yes! But anything in moderation.

Ironically, only moments prior to reading this post, I had been smelling a DMSO odor in my bed but I only use DMSO in the bath (and not so much as to cause body odor). When I closely investigated the situation, I found a large spot on my bed-sheet where the odor was emanating. I had (some time prior) accidentally dropped a Garlic Oil soft-gel in the bed and it burst. Which brings the conversation to this.

In his research for cancer cure, David W. Gregg, Ph. D. Found an erry resemblance of Garlic to DMSO (the odor is remarkably similar). "I find it very interesting to note the similarity between Diallyl Sulfide (Garlic ingredient) and Dimethylsulfide (DMSO)."

So, for those who find the DMSO route a little out-of-the-way or inconvenient, I would recommend triple strength Garlic Oil soft-gels. Gavin of New Zealand expressed the blood-thinning properties of Garlic, which coincides with the same reported for DMSO.

Also, do supplement MSM with the DMSO as they are redox partners (they interchange from one back to the other). As a side-note, I find Alpha Lipoic Acid also potentates the DMSO/MSM.

Kidney beans pods is one of the most effective food for curing kidney and bladder trouble. It is also effective for dropsy caused by heart disease and other ailments. Kidney blockage of long duration were also total cured and bleeding from any parts of the urinary system was quickly stopped.Stones and gravel were rapidly dissolved and did not return. Diseases of the bladder and ureter were cured.Rheumatism and acute gout were also cured. For some lucky people their diabetes were cured for good. Patients with inflammation of kidneys and bladder with pus in their urine were also cured.T otal swelling all over the body were also solved with only kidney bean pods water.

Kidney beans pods water must be freshly made and consumed within 24 hours otherwise it will cause diarrhea. Only the pods of the kidney bean were used as the kidney bean were not useful for kidney and bladder problem.

To prepare the kidney pod, boil 2 ounces of the pods slowly in 4 quarts of hot water for 4 hours. When the pods is ready, filter the solution through a fine muslin slowly and carefully and leave it in a cool place for 8 hours. After 8 hours filter the solution through muslin slowly and carefully again as too much fibers in the solution can cause intestinal upset. The solution is ready now.

Other foods that are useful for kidney, bladder and urinary problems are asparagus, beet roots, black eyed peas hulls, carrots, cherry juice, cornsilk teas, cranberries, garlic, onions, parsley, radishes, sage tea and water melon.

Baking Soda

Normally, you take baking soda as follows: 1/4 teaspoon or up to 1/2 teaspoon in cup of water. Stir until liquid is clear and drink over a few minutes. Best on empty stomach if you are trying to alkalize your body versus just dealing with digestive issues.

Also can be taken with Apple Cider Vinegar. One tablespoon of ACV in half glass of water and then 1/4 to 1/2 in the water... Big fizz... after fizzing stops drink.

I have never had a problem with my kidneys, so I am hopefully thinking this is due to my using the Castor Oil packs! However, I use to treat a woman in Houston and she was going to dialysis, I did a few different treatments on her, and one of them was Castor Oil packs. Her numbers were dramatically decreased. I had her change her diet, use the Castor oil packs and I did Body Alignment Technique. Her numbers decreased by the third time.

Stage III Kidney Failure

Thank you very much for your answers. I am sorry to hear about Ted. I am a nurse and unsure of the reason for the sudden kidney problems. I did have very high pressure before an aortic valve replacement; but it has been OK since then, I take one BP pill, and an herbal collection of remedy and it has been stable; my blood sugar results have been prediabetic, with a sudden spike. So, I am not sure of which direction to begin a natural healing; the obvious will be complete rejection of dialysis. MY other question is about mineral water. I knew I had acidity years ago, many UTI's and a kidney stone; led me, not ten doctors, to realize the stone was acid based. I did herbal and mineral water alkalinization; since I learned that mineral are very alkaline. But now I read that mineral may be hard to process in kidneys under stress. I am taking a supposedly herbal formula for kidney health, but it is not at all helping. I will try the Sodium barcobonate, should I stop the mineral water? Thanks again. Gail

Dear Kelly,

For someone with multiple health problems, no one may be comfortable to say for sure if coconut oil is "safe." It is a food that has helped many people with many things, so unless certain fats are restricted by your friend's doctor, it does seem a reasonable thing to try. But do get a high quality (cold-pressed) coconut oil that smells like coconut. Start with a small amount and increase as desired. A small amount being a teaspoon once or twice a day. The maximum daily recommendation for coconut oil is 3 Tablespoons a day, I believe.

I hope you will find some good solutions for your friend!

Can you recommend glandular therapy for kidney disease?

Glandular Therapy
Posted by Oscar (Syracuse, New York) on 06/27/2014

Dear Eckhard from Toronto, There are many causes of or for kidney disorders. Kidney disease is too vague to provide specific advise. As far as gland health goes: Avoid foods that have the element BROMINE. Certain breads and dough products along with certain soft drinks contain bromine. Bromine displaces the necessary IODINE in endocrine processes. Taking one standard multivitamin and mineral supplement daily should ensure the required IODINE.

Also I recommend drinking distilled water along with one cup of pure cranberry juice a day to avoid bacterial kidney infections and to promote kidney health in general. For some specific kidney disorder you need to state exactly what is wrong with your kidneys....Oscar

Hey there Cindy;

Re: Your question in reference to my post to Robert Henry..

First, thank you for the nice compliment. I am such a believer in natural E to ward off cardio and circulation related issues.

Now your question was, I think, what 40 pills do I take and then you asked about the 80/10/10 diet with the 80 being raw.

Well, I am a patient of Dr Nick Gonzales of Manhattan, and he did want me on a more raw diet but classified my metabolic type as "meat eater."

But I don't follow the 80/10/10 even though I should and could even under Dr Gonzales' classification.

I am a terrible sinner. I eat bad things and this is a major fault of mine. Very little exercise (I adhere to the HIIT method...High Intensity Interval Training.) I practice flexibility movements and shadow boxing from the "old days" to keep up agility and speed (or a semblance of it). I practice elementary karate kicks.

And, as mentioned, I take a lot of nutrients. Were, you asking for a list of what I take? Sorry, I wasn't following exactly but just listed my list of what I do and what I shouldn't do.

If you want the list I'll be glad to do so.

Cindy: Dave takes supplements. I follow the 80/10/10 program. The idea behind the program is that raw organic fruit is going to have more energy than in regular food because of the enzymes, humic fulvic acids, xeronines, and trace minerals. We believe this is the best food program. People can eat as much raw organic fruit as they want whenever they want. The only two technical aspects are soaking nuts and seeds for protein and oil and getting the proper ratio of carbs to oil. I would encourage you to try the program.

How do you take gum Arabic? Thanks

All you do is take a few pieces of arabic gum and chew them. Nothing else is needed. The gum from Greece is best. The powder is not as good either.

Hi Rani from Pune, In my opinion if you read Ted/Bill 's thought on this subject, it is the acidosis which creates the inflamation in the kidney and since one is diabetic also it confirms the possibility. Therefore to start with you can put him on sodium bi carbonate alone and watch the improvement. I am sure it cannot do any harm. So you can start with 1/4 teaspoon in water after 1/2 hr. of the meal three times a day and see as to how he responds. Baldev 09322887066.

Hello Puni, Ask your friend if he/she also has high blood pressure. If so, Bicarbonate of Soda does serious harm. Do one of Ted's Alkalizing Formulas instead. Many/most diabetics also struggle with high blood pressure over time. You can find his formulas online.

Has anybody tried this tea for kidneys? This tea was recommended by Edgar Cayce.

That's a possible remedy for Kidney Stones. I think Hulda Clark has information on it also.

Hi Hanimela,

I hope your well. I read your amazing story. I wanted to know how to get someone off dialysis. What things did you do that are the most useful? I agree the nurses have a fixed mindset.

Thanks

Hi Melanie,

After reading your blog, I am further inspired to continue researching different methods of healing. I have always been a big believer of herbal remedies and will continue to find alternatives, rather then the medicine and foods the docters want me to take.

I am a patient on Dialysis and feel great apart from the toxins building up in my body. I will try to pursue a healthier lifestyle here on.

Many thanks!

Hope all goes well for the future!!

Nephritis Remedy Summary
Posted by Lis (Ny, Ny, Usa) on 10/29/2010

Nephritis (high protein in urine) - Summary of Remedies from Ted and the Earth Clinic Community

Often bacterial in origin or the body has an infection.

1. Alkalize (raise immunity and reduce bacteria): Drink two tablespoons of Apple cider vinegar plus 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 a cup of water twice a day (morning and night) on an empty stomach for four to five days a week. Or two to eight teaspoons lime or lemon juice plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 cup of water twice a day. You can alternate between these two formulas.

2. Zinc: Take 50 mg of zinc gluconate per week.

3. Magnesium: Take 250 mg of magnesium citrate five days out of the week -- increases the body's defenses against bacteria, thus reducing the high protein in the kidneys.

4. Sea Salt: Add 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt in one liter of water and drink throughout the day -- will raise the salinity of the urine somewhat and the antibiotic effect of the salt will reduce the bacteria thus reducing the protein buildup in the urine.

5. Oil Pulling: See here https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/oil_pulling.html

6. Lecithin Granules: One tablespoon lecithin in a cup of water one to three times a day, 30 minutes before eating -- reduces excess fatty liver and reduces the liver's congestion.

7. Clove Oil: Mix one drop of clove oil in one liter of water and drink through the day - kills the bacterium in the liver, thus reducing the high protein in the kidneys.

*For cloudy urine, taking a vitamin B complex for a couple of days may help clear it up and reduce the protein buildup.

*Also discontinue drinking carbonated beverages

Nephritis Remedy Summary
Posted by Ted (Bangkok, Thailand) on 11/01/2010 383 posts

Nephritis Summary Revised...

Excess protein may be linked to taking too much protein and lack of digestive enzyme that digests the protein, such as protease, and may be supplemented with pancreatic enzymes, bromelain enzymes and to some extent papain. The total protease should be 50 to 100 mg taken before meals 3 times a day, bromelain 2500 GDU, and papain roughly 250 to 500 mg also three times a day. There was a case where a doctor gave patients 10 white eggs a day plus steroids as a way to reduce urine protein but that actually made it worse. Milk powder also worsened. An excess urine protein can also be lack of amino balance such as arginine or glutamine, for example.

A simple test is possible. A protein free diet or caloric restriction for 3 days to see if there is improvement.

Hello, I am a twice a week dialysis patient due to Iga-Nephropathy. I've read articles about bicarbonate or baking soda being used for renal failure. I desperately need to know exactly how this works, and how it could help me. I still urinate, but I also retain fluids. I (do not)want a transplant and all its damaging medicines. I want to cure or at least improve myself dramatically. please let me know how to take the bicarbonate, or any other herb or treatment to improve my kidneys. Ill await your responce, thank you.

I've had Diabetes since 1999. I was controlling it with meds in 2012. I had 2 strokes. I went into Rehab for 6 months. Christmas 2013, I had an unexpected Heart Attack, Coded, had Open Heart Surgery, 3-way Bypass. I had 2 more strokes and severe reaction to all the meds, especially from Anesthesia. I had severe Dementia for months. I have not been well since that time. I am in End Stage Renal Failure, functioning at 10%. My Doctor is forcing me into Dialysis. I had Dialysis after my surgery because they used contrast, which I am allergic to. My kidneys failed then. But 2/3 the way into 2014, my kidneys came back at 30% and I stopped Dialysis. I was in Rehab for a year this time. I got Pancreatitis May 2015 and found out my kidneys were failing.

I am looking to get off most or all my meds, avoiding Dialysis and finally getting well, after being ill since 2012. I would like any help you can give me. I see my Doctor soon and I hope what I am doing will change my lab results enough that my Doctor will waive Dialysis. Thank you.
