I have had kidney stones for 28 yrs. In June of 2016 my nephrologist told me that I only had 34% us of my kidneys. He had me on 6 tablets a day of potassium citrate for the last 6 yrs. It had gotten worse over the last 6 yrs. and I figured it was due to menopause. I produce calcium oxlate stones. The nephorlogist told me my kidneys were calcified. I had been passing stones every 2-3 mos. I was always told by doctors to increase my citrate level and limit foods that are high in oxlates. After the doctors appt in June, I started researching calcification on the body. WoW, I found out that in the american diet we are getting to much calcium.

Here's the important part of my little story. I found out that calcium is hard and it needs magnesium to soften it, so it can get to the right places in the body that it needs to be in. Calcium can stay in the soft tissues, like the joints, kidneys, arteries, etc. I started taking a liquid ionic form of magnesium. I was on it for 6 mos. and when I went to the nephrologist he said that the percent usage of my kidneys was 39. It went up 4%. I went to the nephrologist 6 mos after this and the percent use of my kidneys was now 44. It went up 5% this time. In that year and 3 mos, now. I have not passed any stones. I had not had to go to the hospital either.

Sorry so long, I just wanted to put it out for people with stones or kidney disease. I understand that when you get close to having 20% use of your kidneys, doctor want to get you on dialysis.

In reply to Gail (Kingston, Ny),

Melatonin may be of help for you as it is kidney protective, can help to restore circadian rythyms which are often disrupted in CKD, antioxidant boosting and it can help with GERD associated issues while having an excellent safety profile and very low probability for allergic reaction because it is naturally produced in the body. Melatonin has many health benefits in the human body and does much more than just act as a sleep aid.

Here is an article discussing melatonin and esophogeal injury:

https://www.karger.com/Article/FullText/369656

Another article discussing melatonin and the kidneys:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5411918/

This should be worth discussing with your doctor to see if it is something you can take. Given the seriousness of your illness, your doctor's approval is needed and important to make sure melatonin will be compatible with the drugs and supplements you are currently taking.

Gail, Ted's remedies seem complicated. I was very ill when I started. My husband was sick, it drove me. For myself it did not. It was his blood clot and the results of the remedy in the first 24 hours. Using baking soda reacted with lime. Not taken separately.

Truthfully it takes some studying. I had to reread and reread. My mind was not working my health was poor.

May I suggest that you do the first things to give your body an optimal platform to build your health.

Ted's remedies are information dense. In 5 years we have seen a pattern of things that work. Yet if I had begun with the basics I would have had quicker and better results.

Because I like you had multiple problems and diagnoses. I found it overwhelming. You can write a response, so your in good shape. I would have been unable. I had to have no light no sound and everyone in bed to come upstairs to use the computer, I wore sunglasses as the screen hurt my eyes, the whir of the fan hurt my pain addled brain. I wrote every word I read as I had no short or long term memory.

Here is the culmination of my experience with utilizing Teds information.

First and foremost....remove fluoride from your body. This also removes excess estrogen, from our environment. Which inturn gives your body the opportunity to heal.

4 days a week. For women 1/8 tsp of borax in 1 liter of spring water. Use this water, to add to or make beverages throughout the day.

Detox and heal soaks. This is ideal in the tub, foot soaks help too. 1 cup of borax, 2 cups epsom, 1/2 cup baking soda, 1 cup hydrogen peroxide. 1 capful fish tank dechlorinator. Chlorine steam is deadly to the heart. Your largest organ is your skin. It absorbs nutrients readily and effectively.

That 20 minute or more soak. Removes fluoride, adds non acidic boron, magnesium sulfate, oxygenates your blood, bicarbonate helps alkalinity.

Your information sounds like you are desperately low on magnesium and trace minerals. Buy magnesium flakes. In a mason jar, 60% flakes, 50% spring water, cap an leave sit 1/2 hour, shake it you have magnesium oil. I fill a 4oz spray bottle and a 2oz dropper bottle. This applied to skin stings if you are low so if it does, you can do a few things to stop it. Apply castor or almond oil first or after. Add some water to site. Or add more mag oil and wait it will stop. It is uncomfortable but doable. Magnesium is involved in every system in your body, organs, bones, connective tissue, muscle, elimination and absorption.

Take mag oil 4 to 5 drops in water 2x a day. Provides approx. 250mg of magnesium chloride per dose. Or mag malate for runny stool types or mag citrate for constipated types. At least 250mg 2x a day.

The benefits are endless. In your case, needed. The sphincters that open and close in esophagus and organs need to be supple and strong. To keep acid in your stomach. To optimize your gallbladder, liver, pancreatic action, correct elimination in kidney, bladder. It further adds supple action to arteries and veins. It optimizes your heart muscle. Improves heart and therefore kidney function.

Chlorine in water and environment must be reduced. Sodium thiosulfate crystals, purchase online. From photographers supply. Some take a crystal, like a pill, before showers. Some take it before bed to sleep better. I used to add a crystal to every gallon of water for kitchen use. This was how we take borax too. 6 of us. I keep a gallon of water on sink I add 1/4 tsp borax to it in the am. 4 or 5 days a week. Just the first am one. The rest just get s.t.

I suggest you read Teds chapters for, Barretts and you other issues. You will find a repetition of of the same things that Ted recommends for 1 it will repeat in the next. The beauty of it is often the writer of question to him often has your issues or problems. Sometimes asking the question of Ted as if he were able to himself, answer.

Trace minerals, my favorite is 1/4 tsp of sea salt in a glass of water. If you do not like that, then you can purchase trace minerals as a liquid online. You will find your efforts improve with these in place.

Elimination is important. 1/4 tsp cilantro 2x a week in food or off a spoon removes metals. 2 tbsp lecithin at the same time removes bad vegetable oils and fats if taken at the same time. S.T. for chlorine. Borax for fluoride and excess estrogen. Apple cider vinegar reacted with baking soda to emulsify stones and debris in g.b. and other organs. The baking soda is needed to raise levels the g.b. cannot, due to our poor diets. Which then helps create the amount of bile needed to digest properly. Stopping bile duct obstruction. Then the baking soda lime or Apple Cider Vinegar drink goes further to clean out bladder and kidney. All this without herxing.

There is more. But these are foundational to health.

I also recommend Teds and Bills book on alkalizing to really understand human health.

Dr. Michael Holicks you tube video about vitamin D3 it is the first and foremost depleted nutrient in the world today. It changed our lives.

No aspartame, no msg, no vegetable oils, sugar, avoid all aluminum, plastics, coated pans.

This may help. Janet

Stage III Kidney Failure
Posted by Gail (Kingston, Ny) on 05/19/2017 10 posts

Thank you very much for referral to Ted's remedies. To be honest, there are some complications which may make this more difficult

One is the fact that I have Barrets Syndrome; I tried to control it with cold pressed aloe vera gel, but it gave me severe diarrhea which increased my irritable bowel syndrome I believe caused by internal hemmorhoids since childbirth. So, I had to take Nexium, yes, I know bad, but when I stop the Nexium I can feel burning in my esophagus.

I BP has been controlled after 2 aortic valve replacements with one pharma pill and an herbal remedy for 2 years. And I have just found out I also have osteoporosis.

Does anyone know if mineral water which is alkaline is OK for the kidneys. I drink it for alkalinity but have heard the minerals may be hard on the kidneys.

I did take sodium bicarb for a while but found it burning my esophagus and stomach, same with apple cider vinegar.

As well, I am prediabetic and have always had high genetic cholesterol; but, I am boiling a soup of Leeks, parsnips, turnips, 2 potatoes, carrots and celery and my HDL is now fabulous my MD says. Thank you Janet for your reply. My my, it's soooo complicated. Gail

Thank you for this interesting information. Can you please give the amounts of Comfrey, Raw Kidney Glandular plus, and what you take as a growth hormone (and I must ask the point of the growth hormone for kidney disease). Gail (PS, do you also use Sodium Bicarbonate and ACV. I was unable to tolerate ACV which irritated GERD. I understand that mineral water is very alkaline, but that minerals my be difficult for the kidneys to process. Do you have an opinion on this. Thanks, Gail

Stage III Kidney Failure
Posted by Gail (Kingston, Ny) on 04/16/2017 10 posts

Thank you very much for your answers. I am sorry to hear about Ted. I am a nurse and unsure of the reason for the sudden kidney problems. I did have very high pressure before an aortic valve replacement; but it has been OK since then, I take one BP pill, and an herbal collection of remedy and it has been stable; my blood sugar results have been prediabetic, with a sudden spike. So, I am not sure of which direction to begin a natural healing; the obvious will be complete rejection of dialysis. MY other question is about mineral water. I knew I had acidity years ago, many UTI's and a kidney stone; led me, not ten doctors, to realize the stone was acid based. I did herbal and mineral water alkalinization; since I learned that mineral are very alkaline. But now I read that mineral may be hard to process in kidneys under stress. I am taking a supposedly herbal formula for kidney health, but it is not at all helping. I will try the Sodium barcobonate, should I stop the mineral water? Thanks again. Gail

N: When things get quite dire, try to block out all the possibly bad-case scenarios and focus on simple, practical remedies.

Start with supporting Kidneys. To reduce infection & inflammation, place a Magnetic Bed Pad in the low-back area of the K's while reclining in your living room and/or in your bed while sleeping. Next take Cranberry capsules or softgels to clear out infection. Next take Dr Christophers Kidney/Bladder herbal combination to strengthen K's.

For diabetes, take a good multivitamin/mineral supplement plus extra Chromium. Eat lots of Cinnamon or take capsules to improve glucose metabolism.

First, take Ashitaba powder/tea (Assitant root/leaves) at least 2 times per day on daily basis.

Second, take gold sea cucumber supplement on daily basis (Luxor brand is very good: Many cured of kidney disease/kidney failure).

Third, daily take beenzyme and papaya leaves containing papain (Optional: Can add on bromelain enzyme supplement) that break down protein in your body. Especially after every meal take beenzyme tablet to break down protein. Daily take papaya leaf supplement too.

R: It seems a miracle you are here and posting your condition. And yes, there are valuable natural remedies that can help you recover substantial instead of going near dead with palliative-at-best treatments.

Recently many folks have been cured of diabetes from eating Kefir daily, suggesting a pathological organism or infection as the cause of loss of pancreas beta cells. Going back a few years and the now renowned Hulda Clark discovered that many cases of diabetes were caused from parasite infestation, notably flukes.

In your case, I would not rule out any of the forgoing, as the level of involvement is extensive occurring also in the kidneys. Gallstones are also common in pancreas & kidney infections. So you will want to read on the "gallbladder flush" diet that removes gallstones.

First item in natural remedies is alkalizing (which is what the dialysis does). Read the E.C. pages under "remedies" for alkalizing.

Next, is to clean the kidneys by taking Cranberry softgels or D-Mannose, followed an hour or two later with Dr.Christopher's "Kidney/Bladder" herbal formula. After a week or two of this take Raw Bovine Kidney capsules to rebuild those organs.

Next is treating likely parasite infestation with a broad spectrum herbal formula specifically Kroger Herb "Wormwood Combination". In addition to this product I like to add Garlic Oil and Oregano Oil softgels for best effect. Dr. Christopher also developed an herbal formula specifically for the pancreas called P-14 which I have used with very good effect. There are many different manufactures of the Christopher formulas so there will be different names so if you want to try this you must research a little, but it may not be necessary as the Kidney/Bladder formula contains about half of what is found in the pancreas formula, plus the anti-parasite formula I suggested will likely be sufficient. After a few weeks of this treatment take Raw Bovine Pancreas to rebuild that organ.

Lastly, buy yourself some Kefir grains and make your own for daily use. And to help clean your colon take a spoon of Milled Flax Seed daily (can add to the Kefir).

Hope you can follow these suggestion and get better, but please feel free to come back for additional help or update your progress.

I've had Diabetes since 1999. I was controlling it with meds in 2012. I had 2 strokes. I went into Rehab for 6 months. Christmas 2013, I had an unexpected Heart Attack, Coded, had Open Heart Surgery, 3-way Bypass. I had 2 more strokes and severe reaction to all the meds, especially from Anesthesia. I had severe Dementia for months. I have not been well since that time. I am in End Stage Renal Failure, functioning at 10%. My Doctor is forcing me into Dialysis. I had Dialysis after my surgery because they used contrast, which I am allergic to. My kidneys failed then. But 2/3 the way into 2014, my kidneys came back at 30% and I stopped Dialysis. I was in Rehab for a year this time. I got Pancreatitis May 2015 and found out my kidneys were failing.

I am looking to get off most or all my meds, avoiding Dialysis and finally getting well, after being ill since 2012. I would like any help you can give me. I see my Doctor soon and I hope what I am doing will change my lab results enough that my Doctor will waive Dialysis. Thank you.

His kidney is working correctly. But if he stop taking baking soda tablets, his kidney is not functioning properly. Baking soda will keep the body alkaline. You may try this technique.

Hello Cyml:

You say your niece's kidneys are shrinking. My first guess when I see something that the doctors can't explain is to think "infection" either virus, bacteria or fungus....and don't forget parasite. I use colloidal silver which is atoms of silver in water. You have plenty of silver in India. Colloidal silver is a very small amount of silver derived from electrolysis diluted in water. If me having such symptoms I'd drink two tablespoons of colloidal silver three times a day for a month and retest. Her symptoms might also begin improving. Ask your niece to think back before the onset of her kidney problem...ask her if she had a serious infection. Many times the patient can recall a serious infection before another later onset of a "mystery" illness. No mystery: it's the infection (virus, bacteria etc) at work. If she improves, she likely will have to keep up the protocol for many months to make sure the infection is destroyed.

Hi Tina,

So sorry you are having the dreaded cramps, yes my daughter had this, it's very common, The problem is that with Nephrotic Syndrome when you lose the albumin through the kidneys it is carrying all sorts of valuable substances as its known as a molecular taxis. So you can lose all sorts minerals, hormones, fatty acids even drugs. So you can become depleted very quickly in many things. The best thing for the cramps is Magnesium, in fact its difficult to keep potassium in your cells with out it. Unfortunately with today's farming techniques ( artificial fertiliser, etc ) its difficult to replenish the lost minerals through food alone, I use a coloured sea salt that hasn't had the associated minerals removed, I also gave extra magnesium, zinc, copper and selenium as I felt that they were particularly lacking in modern foods. I also tried to give her the best diet possible. I had one mom tell me when her son is weaning off the nephrotic levels of steroids, that he has to use a wheel chair, because of the pain and muscle problems.

Re Apple Cider Vinegar for Nephrotic Syndrome

Hi Tina,

Yes my daughter was crippled with pain when reducing steroids, her doctors always seemed very surprised by this. I am a biochemist and through research, I came to the conclusion she was suffering from osteomalacia (sort of adult rickets) brought on by loss of vit D3, caused by the massive doses of steroids used for Nephrotic Syndrome, I gave her 5000 iu of vit D3 along with the necessary co factors, ( Magnesium Vit b2 and vit K2, and after 24 hrs she already felt relief, all pain was gone in 5 days. Tina I am so sorry you are suffering from this terrible illness, and because it is uncommon no one understands what you are going through, the treatment causes as much suffering as the disease. my daughters teachers seemed to think she had cystitis and that I was making a fuss over nothing. She still has her vit D3 as it is still too early to make much vit d3 from the sun. Shes had no side effects (actually her eczema and hay fever disappeared) but that's a good side effect. I am sort of embarrassed writing this because as a scientist this all seems too good to be true. I am currently reading every bit of research I can find on Vit D3 . I hope you can get into permanent remission soon.

Dear Kelly,

For someone with multiple health problems, no one may be comfortable to say for sure if coconut oil is "safe." It is a food that has helped many people with many things, so unless certain fats are restricted by your friend's doctor, it does seem a reasonable thing to try. But do get a high quality (cold-pressed) coconut oil that smells like coconut. Start with a small amount and increase as desired. A small amount being a teaspoon once or twice a day. The maximum daily recommendation for coconut oil is 3 Tablespoons a day, I believe.

You might also find this link interesting about using charcoal therapy for renal disease: Charcoal Therapy

I hope you will find some good solutions for your friend!

L: Two items that will help.

1. Take a bottle of Dr Christopher's "Kidney/Bladder" herbal complex in the recommended doses.

After two wks of the herbals, take a bottle of Raw Kidney Glandular supplement.

These two items will help clean & rebuild the kidneys.

Eating Watermelon is also good source of antioxidants and natural diuretics that are beneficial to kidney function.

This will help short term status but you need to determine the cause or underlying factors that are stressing your kidneys to such a degree.

Hi, I just noticed that a couple of people requested an update concerning my daughter's experience using apple cider vinegar for nephrotic syndrome MCD. Well I'm very happy to report that she has had no further relapses, she is still off all medication. We continued using the ACV gargle and swallow 3 times per day for 1 month. After that she did it once per day for 2 months then stopped.

While on vacation she came down with food poisoning and did not relapse, also after returning to school after the Summer holidays she came down with a sore throat, cough and cold but again without relapse, previously the most trivial infection would start a relapse.

Cornsilk is a miracle worker. If you catch a bladder infection early enough and use enough it will fix it, but not if you let it get a hold.. For kidneys its usefulness cannot be overstated. I have kidney pain from time to time - I think never having drunk enough water could be the cause, but my right kidney is sensitive and gives me pain at times. Cornsilk tincture, anything from a teaspoonful to 2 tablespoons, will stop it in anything from 10 mins to an hour. If it isn't better in half an hour I just take more.

My father had only one kidney, after cancer/chemo that one had 30 percent function. He took cornsilk tablets daily and never had a problem unless he skipped them for a couple of days. I can't buy the tablets any more because cranberry got fashionable and the compny that used to make them here ditched them in favour of cranberry (useless for kidneys) but I can get cornsilk tincture from a variety of homoeopathic/compounding chemists and on line. Never be without it! (I've never heard of contra-indications with it though my mother in law was a bit concerned about my using it during pregnancy)

Just a couple of notes on the flax seed discussion. A) Legumes are a family of plants (beans, peas, clover, etc.) Flax is not a legume. B) The omega-three-rich oils in flax seed become oxidized within 20 minutes of grinding them or if they are heated. Oxidized flax oil is detrimental, not beneficial.

Have been on dialysis for 4 years now. Last year I bought and saw the movie by Joe Cross called Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead. I began juicing once a day and eating all natural foods. The renal diet will kill you. My doctor took me off insulin in 2 months and my A1C went down to 5.2. (was insulin diabetic for over 30 years) I went from 245 to 167 lbs. I can walk for miles now and even run when playing with my grandson. My blood work is always great. Never any swelling and I have more energy t hen when I was 30. I will be 63 yrs young Friday the 24th of April. I am not cured yet but I will do all I can. Doctors only treat the symptoms. Good luck to you all and do all you can for yourself.

My daughter is 12, she has been suffering with Nephrotic Syndrome Mcd for 10 yrs. She had relapsed and we were waiting to go on the high dose steroids, her protein spill was +3. She had a very sore throat and I had the idea to get her to gargle with apple cider vinegar, 5mls (a capful) in a glass of water 3 times a day. I was very surprised to find the next day her protein was +2, the next day +1 and then neg. It's been 10 days now, I get her to drink a glass of Apple Cider Vinegar before bed, when she gargled she also swallowed it. I am still in shock this worked, no high dose steroids with all the horrible side effects.

Isn't it a direct conflict to take the ACV and the bicarbonate at the same time, or in the same time period? Are these not polar opposites on acidity? I have read about both being helpful. Are there any here who have been counseled or considered that one increases acidity and one reduces it? Bill

EC: Hi Bill,

Please read our ACV and Baking Soda page here.

Does Arabic Gum really help with kidney disease? Has anyone tried and has had success with it?

Wow, that sounds great but I too worry about the sodium in baking soda as I have hypertension. I do use the Apple Cider Vinegar and tried the baking soda once, but it shot my bp up..

My wife had been diagnosed by our DO with kidney disease. She has been diabetic for many years and doesn't take very good care of the condition. Her GFR was 38 and Doc was concerned. I personally felt that she was already on too many meds and looked for a more natural method to raise the GFR. I found on more than one website in the UK, that there have been extensive studies on the use of ACV with baking soda, with impressive results. You won't find these studies in the US because the drug companies won't make a nickel from the results. This treats the problem, not the symptom.

We consulted with Doc, to make sure the sodium wouldn't be a problem with her hypertension. Doc looked at the UK studies and said, "Give it a try."

More recent blood work has seen her GFR go from 38 to 45, and now up to 53. We are no longer waiting to be told that dialysis will be on the agenda. The combination also seems to have help bring her BP down a little bit.

Another positive note to this is that my wife had not been one who wanted to try 'natural' remedies. Now that she has seen very good positive results, she reminds me if I forget to mix up her acv/soda combo in the morning. She is now more willing to try some of my "crazy" ideas.

I would highly recommend checking out the UK studies. The reports showed that in more than one case, people had been able to stop dialysis after using the combination.

My wife takes 1 oz. of ACV with 2 oz. of water and 1/8 tsp. baking soda. We use raw ACV.

Glandular Therapy

Dear Eckhard from Toronto, There are many causes of or for kidney disorders. Kidney disease is too vague to provide specific advise. As far as gland health goes: Avoid foods that have the element BROMINE. Certain breads and dough products along with certain soft drinks contain bromine. Bromine displaces the necessary IODINE in endocrine processes. Taking one standard multivitamin and mineral supplement daily should ensure the required IODINE.

Also I recommend drinking distilled water along with one cup of pure cranberry juice a day to avoid bacterial kidney infections and to promote kidney health in general. For some specific kidney disorder you need to state exactly what is wrong with your kidneys....Oscar
