Colloidal Oatmeal, Mineral Oil

Colloidal Oatmeal & Mineral Oil (Remedy):
I had written a post about how olive oil temporarily relieved this nagging anal itch i've had for months. The olive oil didn't do anything long term but one day I decided to take a bath w/ all natural aveeno bath powder (can be bought at walmart, cvs, etc) and mineral oil (the laxative). This remedy is probably the most soothing for the itch. The Aveeno Bath powder has colloidal oatmeal which is great for skin irritation. The mineral oil works overtime as it stays on the skin after the bath. What I do is mix 4 table spoons of mineral oil w/ one packet of colloidal oatmeal powder into a warm bath. I usually let it soak for 1/2 hour. It takes a few days to truly feel the difference but I can say with confidence that my irritated tush is healed. On a side note, I no longer use regular toilet paper which was the culprit for causing the itch. I switched to moist wipes that contain no alcohol and has Aloe Vera and Vitamin E.

I had an awful anal itch around the age of 50 and at that same age I found out that I had colon polps. After I had a colonoscopy and had 2 polyps removed, I never had another anal itch. It may be just a coincidence or the polyps may have caused the itch somehow. Anyway, if you have reached age 50 or over or if colon polyps run in your family, you may need to get a colonoscopy at a younger age, if you are younger than 50.When I had the anal itch it was constant and I didn't have hemrhoids either. Good luck. I hope you can get the cause of the itch figured out.

You have to stick to a green diet. And stay away from sugar , sugar will kill you... There is a list of foods you can eat. Look them up in the internet.. Do the candida test... Good luck
Colloidal Silver

To bring the problem under control use colloidal silver (antibacterial properties) and apply 100% organic aloe vera gel
After a short time you will be able to discontinue the colloidal silver but you should continue with the aloe vera gel daily.
As noted in other comments washing in place of wiping will help, drying the area completely by patting the with toilet roll rather than rubbing.
If you suspect a flare up apply colloidal silver again for a day or two.
I know it's not a cure but it is complete relief for me. I say it's not a cure because I haven't tried going without the AV Gel but suspect if I did the problem would reoccur.
During the hot summer months of 2026 here in the UK, I haven't needed to apply any colloidal silver and from memory have only used it once this year so far when I suspected a recurrence.
Tried, tested and works for me.

Not sure if this will help, but eating too many peanuts or peanut-based items can cause this.
Others are certain spices, some citrus fruits, tomatoes...
Liquid MSM with Vitamin C

Liquid MSM with Vitamin C
I bought this formulation for my eyes. It is a liquid combo which can be used as eye drops. Well, it sure came in handy elsewhere on the body as well in my case. Due to repeated use of moist wipes after using toilet paper, I created a damp condition which worsened into what can best be likened to diaper rash. It was very painful, itchy and irritating. I tried ACV & paramicrocidin and got some relief. I tried olive oil and got some relief. I tried straight DMSO and got some relief [after some increased pain such as occurs when applying DMSO to the site of a burn.] However, the best, most long lasting relief I experienced was with the MSM & Vitamin C formula. I wonder how many crying babies wish they could ask for this? I'll tell you, it hurt enough that it made me want to cry like a baby, too ~ very annoying.

Probiotics can also help with itchy bum. I find it works very well for the duration that I am taking it. Different strains may work better - I use multi-strain probiotics, usually about 8 or more strains.
Should help if you have an underlying gut flora imbalance that is causing the itch, as seems to be frequent with people who have other inflammatory issues (asthma, dermatitis, eczema, allergies, etc).
Probiotics won't help, however, if your root cause is worms/parasites.

I found a great remedy for anal itch, mine is caused from a mold virus.
I cut up half an onion a few fresh garlic - I use lots of garlic, I then soak these two in apple cider vinegar over night, the next day take an enema with this solution and you will see great results. Do this as often as you feel the need to do so. Because I have a mold virus I saw an awful lot of puss or inflammation coming out onto the floor. What a big surprise but also a huge relief. The sad part is not one doctor can or could treat me. I ended up handicap because of the lack of. But the best results is I feel a whole lot better. God Bless.

Or you could get some Extra virgin Coconut oil and give the area a good paste after washing. If left untreated the anal itch can last for years. I don't see why you couldn't try a good antifungal cream, like the one used for athlete's foot.

If you haven't already, you could also try warm sitz baths with about 1/8 cup of Witch Hazel added to the water. Soak for approximately 15-20 minutes after each movement. It works! :)

I experienced this itching/irritation from excess acidity too; and I found that switching my coffee to a less acidic version (a milder or medium roast, and/or breakfast blend) helps greatly reduce/resolve this problem without having to give up my morning coffee entirely. I do love the strong dark coffees, so to quell my cravings, a few rimes a week I opt for creole coffee mixed with chickory, also known as Cafe Du Monde; or I add a cinnamon stick or (unsweetened) cocoa and/or carob power for that extra boost!

In most cases it's not the acid in the coffee causing the itching. It's been discovered that it's the caffeine causing the itching. So switching to a low acid coffee may not help. Switching to decaffeinated coffee might stop the itching but then it may cause withdrawal symptoms.

You could try cold pressed coffee - it's much lower in acidity (pH around 6.5, I think). Then you can still have the strong flavor without the acidity!

I have used ointment for this after showering. Just an amount the size of the end of your finger is all it takes. After drying real good with a towel I dry completly with a hair dryer then I apply a small amount of Ointment to the hemmoroid and anus area. Thats it. It's a very old remedy. I live in Michigan and can only find it at one Walgreen's store in town. Active ingredients: Camphor, 3.0%, anti itching. Phenol, 2.5%, anesthetic. Tannic acid, 6.6% astringent. Other ingredients: Petrolatum, Bees Wax, Lavender Oil The trademark is PBO and it's in a yellow container. could be in a tube or a small plastic jar of 3oz. My mother and Uncle used this preparation for years with success. Thats why I use it too.

Itchy but it's a sign of parasites in your organism, check that out! I remember reading an article about using natural remedies to deparasite the body wich said that we should use one remedy at a time for no longer than one week or ten days because the parasites develop resistence to it, always have them on an empty stomach, especially in the morning. There was a list of over a dozen of natural remedies, I remember only a few like bee products, garlic or pumpkin seeds, not salted or roasted, I think you can find more info. on this site or google if you are interested.

~Nystatin and Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream~ I know this goes against Earth Clinic natural remedies, but when you have an itch so serve and this was the only answer.... Wouldn't you want it?? I can not tell you how many other "unsafe" things I tried just to get a little relief. It was maddening. Keeping the stool firm, I used anti diarrhea medication as needed. I hope this helps. ~donna

I have a similar itch, a nagging problem, I have been dealing with for years. I had been washing with anti-bacterial hand soap with relatively good, but inconvenient, results. I picked up an old bottle of Watkins "Pain Relieving Liniment". It's mostly alcohol & watel, I think. But it's fine ingredients are Comphor, Capsicum, & Spruce oil. It presented me with a very warm glow down under for an hour. 4 hours later I'm cool as a cucumber, and a happy maggot, me.

I suffer with anal itching usually around my menstral cycle. When I gave birth to my daughter years ago, the hospital gave me a personal hygiene bottle. You fill the bottle with water and wash your rear with it. Ever since then I use it every time I go to the bathroom. I have ordered several bottles off of hospital supply websites and keep at least one bottle in every bathroom. I even take them with me when I travel. You can't beat them for cleansing. You don't have to further irritate the area by wiping to get clean. For severe cases I put castor oil on a cotton ball and keep it on the area for a while and it brings me relief.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Ahhha..so I think that must be true about too much probiotics causing an itchy butt. I have never had this problem, despite having IBS, irritation...yes...but itching like crazy like this..never!! It's so annoying. I haven't taken any probiotics today to see if it will help. I just recently started them and then upped the amount. I will definitely cut back. As far as trying to get rid of the itch...some improvement with the tea tree oil on a cotton ball. Kept it on there for about 5 mins. Felt cooling and soothing, minor sting, not bad at all, but only lessened the itch. So I put some zinc oxide ointment which kept it under control most of the day, but now it's itching again. I just put some VCO to see how that helps. No change yet. But hoping it will stop eventually with reducing the probiotics!!

Okay... It`s been few months that I am suffering from this itchying where I got to a point that I couldnt take anymore. Went to the doctor and did a full treatment for worms(6 X meza*&&^ can`t remember the medicine name)anyway it didnt work. Went back and collected a sample for scan and the result didnt show any kind of parasites. So I found this BRILIANT article about the Apple CIder Vinegar which made me scream in the toilet :) but it felt good!! Oh yahhh. I have to say that sorted me out, but what`s happening now its that becomes itchy after using the toilet( after a shit).. Where I have to use the ACV again! Im wondering that could be my diet as I am very much into weight training(carb cycling at the moment). Could it be too much protein? considering that I eat every 3-4 hours.. 7 meals /day. Also did reduce the amount of whey protein that I was taking since last year( isolated whey chocolate flavour-again could it be from cocoa powder.. ??!! ) Appreciate any suggestions! :) Thank you Christine!! Love ya!

itchy butt: I found your site while searching for alternative treatment for hbp. In only 3 days my results have been nothing short of miraculous. Thank you earth clinic and to all of the people who contribute to your website. I'd also like to contribute a remedy of my own to the itchy butt ailment category. My line of work requires that I am exposed to extreme heat both from the sun and 400 degree asphalt which irritates or chaps my and my co-workers butt regularly. The best and quickest cure for this is rubbing alcohol! Yes, it burns like heck for about 15 seconds, but as soon as the burning stops, healed! A fan blowing directly to the area helps alot. I've tried getting my girlfriend to blow until it stops burning, but she just laughs too hard to make any wind.
Rubbing Alcohol

The request by the boyfriend to have someone "blow on his butt" is not something you should do. If he has a pinworm infestation, the eggs are deposited by the females during the night on the exterior of the buttocks and will become airborne resulting in the person doing the "blowing" becoming infected. To see the pinworm go to Google and type into the search block "pinworm image" without the quotation marks.

Witch Hazel, Diaper Rash Cream
Posted by Heretohelp8 (London, Ontario, Canada) on 08/05/2012
I have had a problem with my anus being itchy for about two weeks now. I'm not completely sure as to the cause of this horrid and embarrassing problem but it does seem to occur when I have a loose, watery bowel movement. My mom believes it is due to the acidity in my diet, which burns the sensitive skin around the anus and causes irritation, but I can't be sure. I will work to actually curing my problem in the future, but for now, all I crave is a remedy. In the beginning my mother suggested icing the area. I agreed and felt relief soon enough. I lie on my back and wedge a half inch thick hard ice pack between my cheeks and it seems to do the trick within ten minutes. I make sure to keep a piece of clothing between ice and skin, and make sure not to ice for to long or you will get frostbitten. But who carries around a frozen icepack with them? So I needed something portable. And on top of that I am still horribly itchy for those ten minutes.
So I read online in multiple places about witch hazel, and asked my mom to pick me up some. She did and I began using it. It didn't work at first, but I don't believe I applied it properly. I just used it again, accompanied with an ice pack and it seemed to do the trick within five. When I applied it this time I soaked a thick piece of toilet paper in it, sat on the toilet and held it to the area. It did sting a tad in the beginning but it gets better. I still have doubts about witch hazel used on its own or as a cure, but it would certainly work in a pinch or coupled with ice. Hope this helped!
