I have been suffering since last January. All of a sudden, if I drink coffee I have diarrhea and really harsh burning and itching of the butt. (I have been drinking coffee since I was a child). I stopped coffee and started drinking tea. That was OK for a few months now I can't have more than 2 cups of tea or it starts hurting. Now, tomato sauce, veggie burgers, a glass of wine - anything with high fiber! I went to a gastrointerologist who suggested I get a colonoscopy. Afterwards he said there was nothing wrong except that I had some diverticulitis in my upper left colon. I stopped all the foods that irritate me. Last night I had a veggie burder (I haven't had one in about six months so I thought I'd give it a try). My butt itched all morning and when I went into the bathroom, my butt had "leaked" and there was a mess in my pants. I need to tell you that I am in very good physical condition. I eat healthy food, exercise, never smoked or drank (an occasional glass of wine) - I am mortified writing this message. has anyone else had a similar thing happen and what was diagnosis. Thanks for your help.

My husband had anal itching for years, and years. Finally I cracked down and told him he was taking acidophilis. He was amazed! He couldn't believe that I knew what he needed when he explained the problem well enough and I put him on a good probiotic. He found after that, just wiping w/tissue fixed the problem instead of his having to leave a wet washcloth in the floor for me to wash every day. But, he'd always had to wash well w/water to keep from itching terribly. Sure smoothed out a rough spot in our marriage! Lol

All the remedies, salves, and other solutions on this site for everything from itchy butt to racing stripes can be answered with one thing. Washing!! If you search "bidet bottle", you will find information. Read all about the centuries old culture of water and all the good things about water hygiene starting with being clean as can be and also to detect early signs of colorectal issues or digestive issues. See how it improves your life and your relationships. It is a great and environmentally good alternative to wiping with paper. Remember, colorectal cancer is the #1 killer among non smokers. No fanfair or pink ribbons for this cancer, spread the word.

I went to dr a few times on this issue, ive tried prep h which helped temporarily, but it only came back, when I went to doc first time he gave me some kind of antifungal sumthincazole was the antifungal I cant remeber it helped but the itch returned. my last trip to doc he gave me this big tub of salve. I used it for like a couple days and the itch never returned again I mean rarely like its been two years now. The doc gave me like four refills on this stuff but I barely used a few days of it, it comes in a 1lb jar 453. 6 grams all I know is the itch has never came back if it does just put a little cream on it and its gone instantly. anyways the cream was "Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream USP, 0. 1%" This stuff worked I think the stuff only costs me like 4 dollars at most so its cheap and it works. Good luck it cured my itch. GOOD LUCK ask you doc for this stuff as it worked for me after all the failed attempts prior

You haven't been taking probiotics by any chance, have you? I'm asking because I had that problem when I started them and when I went off of them.
The best remedy ever is to take a warm sitz bath after bowel movements. Adding a little Witch Hazel to the water - even better. It's soothing, healing and I'll bet you even find it 'curing'. Good luck. I feel for you. It's no fun.

Back in 2008 I had a bad itch not only on my Butt but also on my anus, upper thighs between the legs, both tesicles and the tip of the penis. From what I now believe it was most likely a male yeast infection or some type of severe jock itch. Even though I used tea tree oil and aloe it came back with a vengeance. I then found using 91% Isoproply Alcohol on cotton rounds or on cotton pads applied to the areas that itched took care of ALL of the itch problems. It will burn like Heck and you will question if this should be happening but it is killing either the yeast, fungus or fungi. How if I could just get rid of the white tonuge... But no more burning down below and that was a couple of years ago. It was driving me crazy... G/l

I bought a natural cream from England that contains tea tree oil along with beeswax, coconut oil and loads of other stuff. This is the only thing that has worked for me and I would strongly recommend it. I used to wake up three to 4 times a night with an itch and it drove me mad. Of course scratching it caused bleeding and soreness. I apply it morning and night and for the past six months I've been great.

Once you've ruled out thread worms you have probably got Ani puritus, which is really common in adults. Unfortunately there isn't a definite cure, you will remain susceptible to problems, unless you manage your diet, health and hygiene. Rubbing too hard with toilet paper or not cleaning properly are both culprits. There's now help on the market that lubricates and aids cleansing. Hope you get happy relief.

The most common cause of anal itch (Pruritus Ani) is the continual rubbing and irritation of the sensitive skin with toilet paper. The simple solution is to clean with water, not soap, and the most efficient way to do that is with a Hand Bidet Sprayer. It will go away and stay away. See

Nuts definitely cause it. I just started a workout program that advised nuts for protein. I've been eating almonds like crazy. Then I started getting the itch! I can stop taking them and the problem goes away. I think I can also get used to it after eating them for awhile?
I thought maybe there were little undigested pieces of the almonds causing the problem, but who knows maybe there is some kind of reaction.

This guy is correct! I tried the same experiment months ago and problem gone in two days; and not returning. Doctors should know this. There must be so many medications and concoctions prescribed for peanut lovers exit pipes. I still eat peanuts, but about 1/4 as many. Easy!
Olive Oil

★★★☆☆WORKED TEMPORARILY
Suffering from anal itch. For the past four months I have been suffering from this nagging itch that I can't get rid of no matter what I try. I have made significant changes in my diet (no more sugar, very little caffeine), tried every medication, it even got to the point where I used a suppository because my rectum was itching. I no longer wipe the area, instead I use alcohol free wipes and pat the area. Nothing has worked. I have been to my physician twice and he prescribed two different topical creams that haven't worked. I find myself going on the internet on a daily basis to get rid of this, and had to leave work early this week b/c of the itch. My doctor and I have ruled out pinworms, anal fissures and hemoroids. I personally think its just broken skin that has been irritated further from all the creams and medicine i have been putting on it. The past few days I have been applying refrigerated extra virgin olive oil to the area. It has a soothing feel to it and the itch goes away for a little while. The olive oil seems to absorb very quickly so it doesn't feel greasy. We shall see what happens, but I refuse to get back on medications for this because they only seemed to make it worse.

Hi there- glad to see that you have overcome candida, my question to you is next:
What kind of doctor did you go see? What kind of medications/doses were you prescribed? I am struggling with candida and have tried numerous natural products. Please let me know asap. I would appreciate your response.
