OMG! I had an annoying eye twitch for three or four weeks and read about the tonic water. I had one small bottle one night and it was way better the next day. Had a second small bottle the next night and it is completely gone today. Thank you for the tip!

Tonic Water worked instantly for me. I have had eye twitches on my right eye for about two weeks and they seemed to be getting stronger. My ophthalmologist told me to drink 1oz. of Tonic water daily. He said it could take up to seven days to work. It worked instantly the same night. I actually took 2 oz. the first night. Today is day 3 and I have taken 1 oz. of tonic water daily(except for the 1st day when I drank 2oz.) and I have had no eye twitches since day one.

My eye had literally been twitching for about 4 months, very strongly and was causing me anxiety. I drank about 8 oz of tonic water, and it reduced the twitching about 75% in the intensity and the amount of times it was twitching initially, and the over the next couple of days it completely stopped. I haven't experienced anymore twitching since the 8 oz....yay! This works...

Calcium and Magnesium Supplements
Posted by P B (Cape Breton) on 03/19/2016

Just a note re: the comments about magnesium/calcium and potassium for eyelid twitching.

Magnesium and calcium are regulated by a cellular "pump" and your body needs them at a 2:1 (calcium to magnesium) ratio. If you over-supplement with one or the other, your body will try to correct the imbalance (calcium is also related to iron absorption; if you take too much calcium you can give yourself anemia!). So those reporting cures are perhaps taking them in the correct ratio, or they are taking in adequate amounts of one or the other in their diet to offset the supplement.

Potassium levels are also regulated by a cellular pump that takes in potassium and removes sodium (or vice versa). Magnesium deficiency can affect the function of this pump. That's why only taking potassium may not help with eyelid twitch or other muscle spasm problems.

Acupressure on Eyebrow

My left eye has been twitching for many months now and I ignored it hoping it would cure itself, but it didn't. So I found this site discussing cures.

This is what worked for me. I closed my eyes and used the my back of my left index finger to apply heavy pressure over the middle and last part of the left eyebrow for a few minutes. After a minute or so of applying pressure, the left eyelid stopped twitching. I continued applying pressure for 5 minutes more or so. I fell asleep and when I woke up the twitching had gone completely. Let's hope it does not return.

Any supermarket, liquor store, it may also be called Quinine but is usually a generic product labeled "tonic water".

Castor oil cured my eye twitch.

I applied a drop of castor oil in my eye before bed. It itched a little at the site of the twitching. It took about 3-4 days before the twitching stopped completely.

Calcium and Magnesium Supplements

Linda,

Eye twitching means the body is lacking magnesium. Mag. chloride rubbed onto the skin is what is suggested. Also you can use about 6 to 10 drops of mag chloride in a glass of water daily or whatever your body can stand.

Let me tell you now, tonic water ABSOLUETELY works! After about 2 weeks of my left eye twitching about 8 times every 1-2 I minutes (I promise you, I am not exaggerating. It was terrible! ) I was seriously - not really, but almost - thinking it would be better to gouge my eye out rather than deal with the excessive twitching. I am soooo happy to have found this website when I did. I rushed out of the office to the nearest store and packed my shopping cart with 9 bottles of diet tonic water. I drank about 3 to 4 liters a day for 3 days an it's FINALLY GONE! Thank you all for you tonic water suggestion. I feel like I'm sane once again :-)

Filtered end of cigarette? This sounds like nonsense and isn't even worth considering. Try anything else. Calcium and magnesium are not bizarre solutions.

I came to this site desperately trying to cure my twitching eye that had gone on for almost a month. The twitching was constant and I was feeling horrible. I was looking at the mirror a thousand times a day hoping it would have stopped. I tried taking tonic water and other remedies without success.. I then decided to start taking magnesium and calcium tablets....pap, it's gone, within two days of administering the multivitamins. Am so happy and thankful to God for using all the good people in this site. I will keep my diet on good check and never again take health for granted. Thanks to all you who share the knowledge.

Hi. My eye used to twitch maybe once every few weeks/months but not enough to be a bother. Then a few months ago I noticed it started twitching every few minutes and would not stop. This went on for about two weeks. I looked up causes for it and read that stress could cause it. Honestly, I did not have much money so I was looking for a low-costing remedy. I started "worrying less". When my kids started to be a bit much, I would go in the other room. I focused more on thoughts that made me happy. I attend school online. I took two days to catch up and get ahead on my school work. I even took a day off from work while the kids were in school. I was careful not too stay up too late (12am). I'm not exactly sure which day the twitch went away. All I know is that my twitch was so bad that everyone, even kids, that talked to me noticed it. After about 1-2 weeks my friends and family were like, hey, your eye isn't jumping!

Tonic water for eye twitch... Absolutely works! This definitely got rid of my eye twitch. You do have to drink a lot of it though. I drank a liter a day for a few weeks. I stopped drinking it about 5 weeks ago and haven't had a problem since. Try to get the diet if you are concerned about calories. Also, the active ingredient (quinine) can cause you to get a false positive on a drug test for heroine, so keep that in mind if you need to get screened for some reason.

I've had a persistent eye twitch in my right eye for about 3 months now that's driving me crazy! Yesterday, I drank a glass of tonic water. I was going to have a gin and tonic, but I didn't want to be buzzed, so I just had a glass of tonic water and noticed that night (and this morning) the twitch had dramatically stopped by about 80%. I took a bottle of tonic water with me to work and have drank about about 16oz and the twitching has almost stopped completely. I have some of that powdered calcium/magnesium stuff at home. Might give that a try, but it seems like tonic water is the magic bullet.

I tried the tonic water after reading these posts and experiencing over two weeks of constant twitching in my right eye. My condition improved so much with just under a liter of tonic water in 24 hours that I almost forgot to write in to thank you for the suggestion. I am grateful for a simple and effective remedy, and for the generosity of the poster to share the info. (also glad to hear cigarettes have a potentially useful purpose, and that I didn't have to go that route).

YES! Magnesium works for Eye Twitches! Magnesium citrate is the best magnesium, the stuff from the pharmacy does not work well.

I had an eye twitch that would happen many times throughout the day for about a month. I went to the eye doctor and he also suggested tonic water with quinine. I went right to the store and bought a bottle. Had only a few sips that night, as the tonic water is very bitter. The next day the twitch was completely gone. It was amazing!
