Ted: My husband has a large bone spur on top of his foot and runs to the side of his foot. He acquired this through a trauma to his foot, years ago. He has started soaking his foot in Borax and a bit of chlorox. How long will it take the bone spur to go away? Also, when he soaks, he notices his bone spurs hurts. Is this a good sign? Please let me know. Thank you.

If ACV is too hard on your feet, try castor oil, just rub in at night for a week or less. That works very well for me.

Castor Oil

Heel Spurs: Extreme pain in my heels started suddenly and I didn't know what was happening. My boss said that she had had them and had been given very, very painful cortisone injections. She said this may help for 5 years. I hate needles, so remembering that castor oil was very good for many things, massaged it into my feet along with Vicks vapo rub or any similar product and within 2 weeks, no more pain. I then was able to go overseas and walk 5 miles and no pain except I had a huge water pouch on the bottom of my feet when I returned. Rested feet 2 days, water reabsorbed into body and have had no reoccurance for 10 years.

Also, just came home from Thailand with aching, dragging leg and sore knees. I read the blogs on black strap molasses and ACV and have been taking daily and muscle ache in leg has gone, knees much better, so am a happy camper. Just have to try not to overdo my walking and climbing steep steps at 75 years of age. Also used the castor oil and Vicks massage on knees. Don't know why this worked, but no harm in trying it to get relief.

I have had a heel spur for about 4 years. Buying high quality shoes - a well known jogger brand but the black office type helped immensely but didn't get rid of the problem. The other day I went for a 9 KM run and the ankle flared up. I tried the wrap and it is working. Two days later there is almost no sign of it. I highly recommend the ACV wrap.

Water Therapy

Hello,

After Reading the comments of Anonymous' and Allen from Cincinnati about the Ice water treatment for the heel spur, I decided to give it a try.

BTW, I have the heel spur and the pain for more than 7 months now. I have taken anti-inflammatory drugs, Cortisone injections and also Shock Wave Therapy for 3 times to get the heel spur cured, but all this did not cure the pain. All these treatments led to somewhat decrease in the pain but did not cure completely. Finally, I decided to try something else and fortunately I found this forum and the feedback from the users about the Ice water therapy.

Yesterday, I decided to try it out. I just took ICE cold water in a tub and immersed my feet in the water for 30 minutes . Already today iIfind great relief and most of the pain from the heel is gone, since I have done this only once the pain is not gone 100% but around 80% reduction I would say. I plan to continue this regime for few more days. I thought that this feedback might help some one in great pain caused by heel spur . I would suggest you to just try the Ice water therapy, which works wonders.

I've been using ACV since 8/24/23 to treat heel spur. I've had this problem since May 2023. I've been to the Chiropractor for treatment which helped somewhat. Next, I proceeded to the Podiatrist who suggested that I get the special insole for my sneakers, also took an injection which provided some relief. In addition, I bought the orthopedic sandals. The sandals also provided my foot with great relief. However, finding the website was the “big deal” as I have been reading about the best natural remedies for heel spur. Therefore, I started using the ACV since 7/24/23. I have been soaking my foot twice per day with ACV in warm water twice per day aggressively. At nights, I use a waterproof band aid soaked with ACV and apply it to the area and wear a sock to bed. I even have a little hardened area below my ankle which has softened and is disappearing. Though the intervention is tedious, I can attest to the fact that it works.

I am also going to the physiotherapist twice per week - I do exercise, which also helps along with the physio massaging and icing the area. I am thankful for this website and ACV. I know that not all remedies works for everyone, but ACV REALLY, REALLY works for me.

NB I've also had to reduce my physical activity such as Zumba and walking. Glad I'm on break as my foot needed to rest.

Better But With Side Effects

After about 2 weeks of suffering from heel pain in my right foot, making it very difficult to walk- I made the ACV, blackstrap molasses and baking soda drink this morning - the difference is amazing. The pain has largely subsided compared to just a day ago, after just 1 glass. I plan to make another one and continue with 2 glasses a day until the pain has completely gone. I did experience diarrhea this morning but it did not last long.

Thanks, Art. I did stumble across this listing and messaged the seller to ask if it comes packaged in original 20 Team Mule packaging. Apparently, if I purchase a 25KG bag it will be, but if I purchase anything less than 25KG it will be shipped in a clear polybag as they split the 25KG bags down into to smaller sizes. I'm a bit nervous about ordering white powder in a polybag from the internet, but I think I might be willing to risk it!

Magnesium with Calcium, Vitamin D3

Magnesium with Calcium and vitamin D3 supplement works for me. I have been a type two diabetic for 20 years now. I recently developed heel pain in my left foot. I had a MRI done and it is a heel spur. I take two pills once a day and in two weeks I am noticing less pain and more comfort when walking. I do not drink milk and I am on insulin therapy with metformin. I am 52 and bike daily and play softball twice a week. I hope this helps someone. I also tried Magnesium Oil and it made it worse for me.

I went to a foot doctor. Had heel spur. He put infraredheat on my heal two or three times and it was cured. Nothing else. Thank God he was not into doing surgery as it seems that was the normal.

Apple Cider Vinegar Soak

Try 1/2 water plus 1/2 apple cider vinegar.

Soak 20 minutes twice daily.

Or soak a cloth in apple cider vinegar and put it on your heel spur and cover with plastic wrap and an ace bandage overnight.

White Vinegar

Ok so I didn't have any apple cider vinegar on hand and used plain old white. I wrapped only the hurting foot From where toes are joined to foot up and around my ankle, as ankle has swelling too.

What I observed is that the white vinegar must work too. all the pain is gone but do have some soreness. Didn't hurt to walk on my foot either.

It appears that the vinegar must reduce the inflammation. it is obvious that the foot that was wrapped is smaller than the other foot now. Haven't tried plain old water wrap. If you don't have vinegar on hand you might try just plain cold water. since I used vinegar that was room temp I'm going to put it in the fridge. That might even work better.

I have suffered with bottom heel spurs in both feet that is in the arch area over the past 30 years. The problem comes and goes. the worst was having it in both feet at same time. Left lasted approximately 9 months and right approximately 18 months. That was up until about 3 weeks ago I jumped out of a boat in shallow water. I thought I had broke my foot. First time I've seen on X-ray what these nasty little critters look like.

160 bucks for the office visit and X-rays and left with no prescriptions, no shots, just dr saying take anti inflammatory over the counter for it. I Thought I broke my foot! Thankfully daughter n law is a RN and she helped me with dosages and when to take ibuprofen and Motrin. Motrin seems to work the best and when in severe pain take ibuprofen in between. Don't take anything if I can tolerate the pain. Yes I need my liver. LOL

HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEBODY.

Vitamin B6

L: I started taking extra B-6 & P5P recently for improved metabolism & detox but noticed little in that way; BUT, perchance, taking B-6 w/ Zinc was significant improvement. After reading up on B-6 it is known to readily bond w/ Zinc or Magnesium for added benefits compared to either alone.

Dear Becky,

I think the honey would not be harmful, but you may lose some of the benefit of this remedy by substituting. If you use Blackstrap Molasses, you get many additional nutrient benefits. (Honey has great benefits, too, just suited to different situations.) In particular, I think the magnesium content in the Blackstrap may be what helps with the bone spurs.

Calcium
Posted by Debbie (Melbourne, Australia ) on 05/30/2012

I also wanted to mention that heel spurs are in fact caused by a calcium deficiency. Unless you supplement your diet with "organic" calcium you will have more problems later down the track including arthritis and osteoporisis.

Calcium
Posted by Jeannette (Ohio ) on 12/18/2021

Calcium needs an acidic environment in the stomach to be absorbed. Use calcium citrate as it does not need an acid environment to be absorbed and to this you must add D3 vitamin to aid in calcium absorption and vitamin K to move calcium into bones, but ultimate diet should be the primary source of nutrients.

This sounds farfetched but it works. It is an old remedy handed down many generation. I've had both feet operated on and had many problems including heel spurs. I don't know why this works it just does. Eat a small handful of golden raisins twice a day and you will see a difference in just a matter of a few days. It must be golden raisins not the dark ones.

Thanks,
Carolyn

I had heel spur for 2 or 3 years and I was looking at Surgery on my heels, I was telling my boss I might be out of work for 3-4 months. Then one day I went to a health store with my dad and a lady ask me if I need help and I said do you have any thing for heel spurs, She said yes Acid-A-Cal took it for 2-3 weeks and felt big big difference.so I kept taking it 3-4 bottles later Heel spur are all gone.

4 years later, no problems.

Calcium

When it comes to heel spurs, there is only one good cure. As we age, we require more and more Calcium because our absorption drops to about 25%. What does this mean? It means that when we don't get enough calcium, our body tries to compensate by getting it from elsewhere in the body. In other words, it takes calcium out of the bones. That is what causes a heel spur, and by taking calcium pills, as well as some other basic vitamins and supplements, you can reverse a heel spur.

Apple Cider Vinegar Wrap

Apple Cider Vinegar cures heel spurs.

Instructions: Soak apple cider vinegar with a cloth and applied on your heel for 6-8 hrs. You can wrap it with a plastic bag around your heel while you sleep. You might need to repeat the process for several days.

Depending on how bad the heel spur, the process will take longer. If the pain is not relieved after doing this process for long period of time, then you might have a different problem and advised to see your doctor.

My son had a painful heel spur. The doctors offered little help. He used magnesium, potassium and vitamin C, in capsules. In three days the pain subsided, and in 2 weeks it was all gone. He is a big man, so he used a pill of each, twice a day. I don't know the mg of each, but it pretty standard. Hope this will help someone. Thank you.

Thanks, Sue. I've had a spur on the back of my heel since 2014. It has gotten smaller but still causes pain, especially when I run. I'm sipping on this concoction as I write this. How often should one take this? Here's hoping it works
