Hi everybody. I have chronic bronchitis for 3 years. Decided I had to stop with inhalers (bad side effects) and test natural options. What has helped me the most is mullein leaf herb. I take 3 (500 mg) capsules per day (1 with each meal). The herb shop lady told me to try it and very glad I did. Highly recommend for mucus conditions in lungs.

Apple Cider Vinegar, Cayenne and Ginger
Posted by Miss M (New York ) on 06/25/2020

I forgot to add, if your blender is not strong enough to pulverize the ginger as it is very fibrous, you can strain in with a coffee filter before taking it. I have a Vitamix and blend on the highest so the ginger is not really noticeable.

This really helps, I was coughing for four months straight and got immediate relief which antibiotics two rounds of doxy, a z pack could not do.

Ginger powder should not be used, only fresh ginger! If you read any Chinese herbal remedies for lungs fresh ginger is always included.

Had Covid then became lucky recipient of chronic bronchitis. I have an inhaler and hate it, so I tried this and wow it really helps fast.

Ingredients

Large knob of fresh ginger, cayenne pepper, apple cider vinegar and water.

Instructions

Shake a big shake of the cayenne pepper in blender jar, add ginger, two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 16 ounces or two cups of water. Blend and drink swiftly.

It's a fireball going down and the ginger is a bit gritty but works like a charm. I was amazed at the relief I got and steroid free!

If you need a sweetener, add honey! Good for throat.

Oil Pulling

I didn't know what "Oil-pulling" was, found a pretty good resource, but basically it works indirectly by improving oral health - which does make a difference for many systems, especially including infections and inflammatory diseases caused by (you guessed it) lack of oral health. So, if you don't know where that bronchitis came from... :-)

My 87 year old Mother had bronchitis for a year and a half. I tried everything for her. We cut about an inch of raw ginger off and added it to about one cup water and blended it in the Vitamixer. We did this twice per day...morning and night! She is fine now....amazing! She still takes ginger every night before bed and has not been sick since. Just wanted to share!

If you mix the ACV and lemon juice with a shot of hot water, first, it will heat/activate the goodies in the vinegar and THEN you can add the honey as it will be cool enough not to destroy the goodies in it.

I use the "small" function on my Keurig for the hot water. Straight into the lemon and ACV, stir, then add the honey. Sometimes with a pinch of cayenne - just because it's yummy.

Apple Cider Vinegar cured chest phlegm and helped me breathe:

Every morning I woke up at 5am struggling to breath as phlegm loosened in my chest overnight and literally did not let me breath. For an hour every morning I drank loads of water (which helped a lot) and tried to cough and release phlegm. Then I read on this site about Apple Cider Vinegar so I started taking 1-2 tablespoons a day in a cup of water. After 2 days I did not wake up gasping for breath, I slept normally! I kept on taking it and was fine, when I stopped taking Apple Cider Vinegar I struggled a bit again in the mornings. I did this for a few weeks.

I have not taken Apple Cider Vinegar now for a good few days and am still fine in the mornings. I just about remember how I use to struggle every morning to breath! I actually can't believe it! I do have some minor phlegm over the day but it is solid and comes up easily, not loose and choking my lungs.

So Apple Cider Vinegar really gave me a lot of relief, and helped me breathe again.

Maybe now I will try it for weight loss!

Apple Cider Vinegar, Baking Soda and Olive Oil
Posted by Sally A (Mid Missouri) on 02/23/2018

I don't know about ACV and pregnancy, but I use olive oil when I have the deep bronchitis cough. It seems to thin the mucous and allow me to cough it up. I started out with 2 TBSP which kept me cough-free for 8-12 hours. Then I realized 1 TBSP did just as well and didn't give me diarrhea with it. I can't tolerate the taste well so I put it in a small cup with about 2 TBSP A&W rootbeer (anything strong flavored would work) and knocked it back in one gulp. Increase fiber if it gives you diarrhea, but this stuff WORKS! Especially helpful for someone like me with high blood pressure and unable to take cough medicine.

Organic cold pressed Coconut oil saves the day again! I started taking a heaping teaspoon of it a day for bronchitis that had no productive coughs. By day two I had productive coughs after months of just dry coughing! By day 8 my bronchitis was completely gone!! Stuff is a miracle worker, love, love, love it!!

Bronchitis and Strep

Red pepper sauce will also help. I currently have these terrible coughing jags and it seems a good swig of pepper sauce stops the cough for a good while. I keep the bottle on the kitchen table with a whiskey shot jigger...just pour some in and down the hatch. It doesn't burn and what a relief. It's better than any of the high price stuff that advertises your cough will be gone in so many hours.

For Colds and Bronchitis:

Take 1 onion (any kind works well, red has a milder taste) cut up with one clove of garlic cut up and cover it in honey and let sit at least 4 hours, but 8 hours is better. I also add lime or lemon juice and cayenne and take two teaspoons every couple of hours until the symptoms subside. It almost eliminates the need for OTC cough medicines and antibiotics.

YES, it works. After pneumonia, prednisone, antibiotics & all the inhalers + 5 days in hospital, followed the next 2 years with winter bronchial infections, I got sick again and using a "shot glass" of raw and natural ACV 2 X per day (pretend it's whisky & just do it): knocked out infection fast. The following summer I got serious and consulted with homeopathic sales specialist at Whole Foods. Went on REFRIGERATED probiotics specifically geared to strengthen respiratory. All's WELL since. If I do feel sick again with bronchial issues, I plan to have a "shot" glass am & pm of ACV!!!

I had a severe bronchitis with severe cough at night for 5 days. I went to my aunt one night and she gave me a solution she tried.

Mix one tablespoon of FRESH ginger and one tablespoon salted fermented butter.

I live in Morocco so it's pretty easy to find it here. The moment I took this mix the cough I was able to sleep again.

Hello,

Well I have continued using the Hot Garlic Water

Every night and using a sheet like a tent over the solution to breath in the fumes. This seems to have gotten rid of my ear pain and throat pain!

I woke up the first day I tried it and felt wonderful. As did my husband. But later in the day the ear and throat pain still came on but not as bad as it was. It is like the ear and throat pain goes dormant and then sneaks up on me again. I have used this Hot Garlic Water for 3 nights before bed. This morning again the feel great and so far the throat and ear pain have not cropped up on me!

My husband is better only his issue seems to be asthma? He has had problem ever since the new neighbors moved in and started having BBQ parties on their patio and starting a bon-fire in a trash can! (their kids were throwing tumbleweed in the fire) The smoke entered out home and my husband seems to have been affected by this! We read that the smoke is like Creosote. I guess toxic!

Luckily they stopped using the bon-fire after my husband politely asked them if they could stop due to his coughing.

I'm going to have him use the Hot Garlic Water to see if it helps him like it did me!

My daughter had a laughing fit over the "witch" that suggested it!

Hi Blanche,

I only soaked my feet until the water cooled.

I am so much better for it though. Right now I feel totally well.

Sounds like a lot of work to do this for 6 hours?

But if it cures Pneumonia I would try it for 6 hours.

That's so strange. I can't image someone suggesting soaking their feet for 6 hours.

I made more of the Garlic and hot water solution this morning and this time I squashed the garlic first and then boiled it and this method was better! The water even is more silky and the vapor of the garlic is stronger! My husband and I are way better! We could not get over it.

HI! Re: Hot Garlic Water and soaking feet in this!

My husband and I have been suffering for weeks with coughing and sore throat and my husband believes he has bronchitis as it's really going around here as everyone I talk to knows someone that has the problem. At Walmart the cold and flu aisle is packed. Well I read the post from 2007 about Hot Garlic Water and soaking my feet in it and covering up with a blanket and breathing the vapor in.

Posted by Hillary (Jonesboro, Georga) on 09/27/2007

After years of suffering with horrible bouts of bronchitis, a lady, claiming to be a "witch" told me to soak my feet in hot garlic water, blanket over myself and the bucket, to inhale steam. She told me to do this for at least 6 hrs. I did not have bronchitis for 5 years. It is time to do it again (and I will), but was wondering, has anyone else heard of this "method" and what is is called?

I figured what do I have to lose? I didn't try it for 6 hours as directed but I tried it until the water became cool. After I stopped using this solution my entire body became very warm! I had to take my pajama bottoms off and put on shorts I was so warm!

Then my husband tried the hot garlic water until it became cold. He was really coughing badly and spitting up mucus.

Well we both slept though the night without coughing! I woke up well! No sore throat. My husband has been sleeping sitting up for days due to coughing! He hardly coughed after soaking his feet in this and is currently sleeping (still sitting up)!

I didn't know how to make garlic water so I placed a handful of garlic cloves in hot water and boiled it and then placed this in the blender put it in a pail and added very hot water to it. (next time I'm going to crush the garlic and boil it) see what works best.

Anyway I can't believe this solution worked so well! Thank for posting it! Thanks Earthclinic!

I diagnosed myself with viral bronchitis picked up while in public. Actually, it may be bacterial because of the symptoms. I probably picked up a virus or bacterium that invaded mu Upper respiratory tract and led to the bronchitis. Please do not go in public when you're sick. 7 miserable days later I now feel much better. I did not go to the doctor, as I treated myself at home. It was rough going but I am almost back to normal. 1 more day should do it, other than still having some bronchial secretions.

Highly recommend a pot of water heated to steam with 4 drops peppermint and 6 drops eucalyptus oils in it. Add 2 drops clove oil for sore throats. Do this 3 or 4 times/day about 15 mins or longer each time. Drink an organic non caffeine tea every 6 hrs. I used ginger pear tea with chamomile and lemon. I added more organic lemon juice to taste and 2 tablespoons of RAW organic honey. I added a few drops of clove oil and 2 drops of mountain oregano oil. Do not use more oregano as it is powerful and will burn your mouth, but two drops is fine. Add 2 drops of peppermint oil too. Get plenty of rest and sunshine For your immune system. Take some vitamin d too. Try not to eat too much as the blood digesting the food could be used to fight the inflammation. I should be ready to go to church tomorrow. 7-8 days to fix what can easily take up to a month to improve with traditional medical advice. hopes this helps someone.

Had bronchitis and felt like I was on the verge of pneumonia 2 weeks ago.... very, very sick with lots of phlegm in my lungs. Taking OTC meds and nothing was working very well. Was on verge of going to a Dr, but wanted to make a last ditch effort. A friend recommended that I try Oil of Oregano. I bought the capsules. 460mg. took it in the evening and the NEXT MORNING I felt 80% better! Couldn't believe it!! I then took 2 per day for 7 days (1 am and 1 pm) and I am 100% cured. This is truly a miracle supplement! xoxo Chloe

Missy, 1st congrats for quitting smoking. It is a hard thing to do! You may want to get a check up to rule out COPD or Emphysema. Stick to natural cures if you can at all costs. If you decide to do the hydrogen peroxide therapy please be aware that the mixture MUST be 3% food grade. You can find 35% food grade peroxide at some health food stores. You will then need to dilute down to 3%. There should be paperwork at the health food store how to dilute down to 3% or call the manufacture up. Never take 3% hydrogen peroxide from the drug store and inhale that. There are stablizers in there that I personally would not inhale into my lungs. Best of luck. And good old apple cider vinegar is a good cure all for most health issues.

Cinnamon, Clove, and Oregano Oils

Actually, while Oil of Oregano is very much the way you describe (it needs dilution. ) What I've done quite successfully (including treating a life threatening illness ) is put it in capsules.

But NOT all essential oils need diluting. That is not true, so I wanted to clarify. I have used plenty without any dilution quite effectively (and I am pretty sensitive actually). You just have to know which ones are safe to do so.

I forgot to add....you should not use hot water when you use the lemon and vinegar with honey. The hot water destroys the enzymes thus rendering the mixture ineffective to help you.

Hydrogen Peroxide Inhalation Method

I have been using an ultrasonic humidifier for $30 at Walmart for over a year now and I am amazed at the results of using 3% H2O2 + distilled water together.

I've always had lung problems and get bronchitis 2-4 times a year as well as sinus infections perhaps more. For the last year+ now I have had NO bronchitis and sinus infections are minimal.

I do about a 50/50 mix of water + peroxide most nights when I sleep. It has lightened my hair significantly, but I can't complain about the results. I am amazed at how much healthier I have been.

I believe that this may also help with general energy levels and perhaps helps prevent other illnesses. Frankly I have not been seriously sick one time even with sick kids coming into the house! Everyone's pretty shocked by these results.

I went to a local health food store and the guy behind the counter gave me something called "fire in the hole, " which I've been Googling ever since. I guess I'll just go back there and get some more because I still have bronchitis but the doctor gave me an inhaler and some antibiotics. But the holistic remedy, the fire in the hole, consisted of cayenne pepper, ginger, ginseng and some other vitamins I'm not too certain of. But the second I took it, at first I felt nauseous and dizzy, and then he told me to drink water with lemon right away, and I instantly felt better. No more coughing and wheezing. I was then told to take Vitamin C tablets every day until it went away, but I went to the doctor and was prescribed with what I was given.

Missy: All the conventional treatments should help in the short term but offer no lasting remedy, so finish the course of them and then adopt a more natural remedy.

Lung conditions like asthma tend to deplete the body's natural stores of the master antioxidant Glutathione. As one ages, Glutathione deficiency starts reeking havoc on the body. The sensitivity or reaction to the glue is evidence of this deficiency. To boost Glutathione, supplement NAC 1 grm every morning, Selenium 200 mcs w/ evening meal (or eat Brazil Nuts daily), and 3 mg Melatonin before retiring. Hawthorn herb will improve lung function.

You can also purchase Reduced Glutathione powder and nebulize daily to restore the lung GTH levels. Many physicians recommend this treatment and some have demonstrations on YouTube.
