HI! Re: Hot Garlic Water and soaking feet in this!

My husband and I have been suffering for weeks with coughing and sore throat and my husband believes he has bronchitis as it's really going around here as everyone I talk to knows someone that has the problem. At Walmart the cold and flu aisle is packed. Well I read the post from 2007 about Hot Garlic Water and soaking my feet in it and covering up with a blanket and breathing the vapor in.

Posted by Hillary (Jonesboro, Georga) on 09/27/2007

After years of suffering with horrible bouts of bronchitis, a lady, claiming to be a "witch" told me to soak my feet in hot garlic water, blanket over myself and the bucket, to inhale steam. She told me to do this for at least 6 hrs. I did not have bronchitis for 5 years. It is time to do it again (and I will), but was wondering, has anyone else heard of this "method" and what is is called?

I figured what do I have to lose? I didn't try it for 6 hours as directed but I tried it until the water became cool. After I stopped using this solution my entire body became very warm! I had to take my pajama bottoms off and put on shorts I was so warm!

Then my husband tried the hot garlic water until it became cold. He was really coughing badly and spitting up mucus.

Well we both slept though the night without coughing! I woke up well! No sore throat. My husband has been sleeping sitting up for days due to coughing! He hardly coughed after soaking his feet in this and is currently sleeping (still sitting up)!

I didn't know how to make garlic water so I placed a handful of garlic cloves in hot water and boiled it and then placed this in the blender put it in a pail and added very hot water to it. (next time I'm going to crush the garlic and boil it) see what works best.

Anyway I can't believe this solution worked so well! Thank for posting it! Thanks Earthclinic!

I diagnosed myself with viral bronchitis picked up while in public. Actually, it may be bacterial because of the symptoms. I probably picked up a virus or bacterium that invaded mu Upper respiratory tract and led to the bronchitis. Please do not go in public when you're sick. 7 miserable days later I now feel much better. I did not go to the doctor, as I treated myself at home. It was rough going but I am almost back to normal. 1 more day should do it, other than still having some bronchial secretions.

Highly recommend a pot of water heated to steam with 4 drops peppermint and 6 drops eucalyptus oils in it. Add 2 drops clove oil for sore throats. Do this 3 or 4 times/day about 15 mins or longer each time. Drink an organic non caffeine tea every 6 hrs. I used ginger pear tea with chamomile and lemon. I added more organic lemon juice to taste and 2 tablespoons of RAW organic honey. I added a few drops of clove oil and 2 drops of mountain oregano oil. Do not use more oregano as it is powerful and will burn your mouth, but two drops is fine. Add 2 drops of peppermint oil too. Get plenty of rest and sunshine For your immune system. Take some vitamin d too. Try not to eat too much as the blood digesting the food could be used to fight the inflammation. I should be ready to go to church tomorrow. 7-8 days to fix what can easily take up to a month to improve with traditional medical advice. hopes this helps someone.

Had bronchitis and felt like I was on the verge of pneumonia 2 weeks ago.... very, very sick with lots of phlegm in my lungs. Taking OTC meds and nothing was working very well. Was on verge of going to a Dr, but wanted to make a last ditch effort. A friend recommended that I try Oil of Oregano. I bought the capsules. 460mg. took it in the evening and the NEXT MORNING I felt 80% better! Couldn't believe it!! I then took 2 per day for 7 days (1 am and 1 pm) and I am 100% cured. This is truly a miracle supplement! xoxo Chloe

Missy, 1st congrats for quitting smoking. It is a hard thing to do! You may want to get a check up to rule out COPD or Emphysema. Stick to natural cures if you can at all costs. If you decide to do the hydrogen peroxide therapy please be aware that the mixture MUST be 3% food grade. You can find 35% food grade peroxide at some health food stores. You will then need to dilute down to 3%. There should be paperwork at the health food store how to dilute down to 3% or call the manufacture up. Never take 3% hydrogen peroxide from the drug store and inhale that. There are stablizers in there that I personally would not inhale into my lungs. Best of luck. And good old apple cider vinegar is a good cure all for most health issues.

Actually, while Oil of Oregano is very much the way you describe (it needs dilution. ) What I've done quite successfully (including treating a life threatening illness ) is put it in capsules.

But NOT all essential oils need diluting. That is not true, so I wanted to clarify. I have used plenty without any dilution quite effectively (and I am pretty sensitive actually). You just have to know which ones are safe to do so.

I forgot to add....you should not use hot water when you use the lemon and vinegar with honey. The hot water destroys the enzymes thus rendering the mixture ineffective to help you.

I have been using an ultrasonic humidifier for $30 at Walmart for over a year now and I am amazed at the results of using 3% H2O2 + distilled water together.

I've always had lung problems and get bronchitis 2-4 times a year as well as sinus infections perhaps more. For the last year+ now I have had NO bronchitis and sinus infections are minimal.

I do about a 50/50 mix of water + peroxide most nights when I sleep. It has lightened my hair significantly, but I can't complain about the results. I am amazed at how much healthier I have been.

I believe that this may also help with general energy levels and perhaps helps prevent other illnesses. Frankly I have not been seriously sick one time even with sick kids coming into the house! Everyone's pretty shocked by these results.

I went to a local health food store and the guy behind the counter gave me something called "fire in the hole, " which I've been Googling ever since. I guess I'll just go back there and get some more because I still have bronchitis but the doctor gave me an inhaler and some antibiotics. But the holistic remedy, the fire in the hole, consisted of cayenne pepper, ginger, ginseng and some other vitamins I'm not too certain of. But the second I took it, at first I felt nauseous and dizzy, and then he told me to drink water with lemon right away, and I instantly felt better. No more coughing and wheezing. I was then told to take Vitamin C tablets every day until it went away, but I went to the doctor and was prescribed with what I was given.

Missy: All the conventional treatments should help in the short term but offer no lasting remedy, so finish the course of them and then adopt a more natural remedy.

Lung conditions like asthma tend to deplete the body's natural stores of the master antioxidant Glutathione. As one ages, Glutathione deficiency starts reeking havoc on the body. The sensitivity or reaction to the glue is evidence of this deficiency. To boost Glutathione, supplement NAC 1 grm every morning, Selenium 200 mcs w/ evening meal (or eat Brazil Nuts daily), and 3 mg Melatonin before retiring. Hawthorn herb will improve lung function.

You can also purchase Reduced Glutathione powder and nebulize daily to restore the lung GTH levels. Many physicians recommend this treatment and some have demonstrations on YouTube.

Quercetin

Quercetin is a compound found in onions and some other fruits and veggies and it is anti-inflammatory and great for helping clear out mucous that is starting to accumulate in the chest. My son and I are both prone to getting bronchitis out of a cold, and he has issues with mucous gradually traveling down toward his chest during allergy season too because he sniffles a lot and everything drains down his throat and eventually finds its way into his bronchial tubes. Take a quercetin capsule 2 to 3 times a day. They are usually ~ 250 mg and you should notice an improvement in your symptoms the same day you start taking them, but it may take a few days or even a couple weeks of this regimen to eliminate the problem, depending on how bad it was when you started. You can find it at just about any health food store and online. The powder in the capsules is yellow, and quercetin is often packaged as a complex with bromelain, a compound in pineapples, with similar anti-inflammatory properties, and also with vitamin C.

Dear Missy,

You are making some great positive steps in helping your asthma. Apple Cider Vinegar is a great thing to try! Is that THE THING that will solve it for you? I don't know. We were able to heal my son of asthma on the first try (nettles and quercetin.) With my daughter it took a lot more trial and error, but she is doing great now!

So, start with the ACV. And keep reading and studying.

I know you don't like using the nebulizer with albuterol. But you may find nebulizing very diluted hydrogen peroxide (or something else natural) to be very helpful to your healing. We use a nebulizer at our house a lot (with natural stuff in it) and I LOVE it. It is a great way to deliver a natural medicine right to the place it is needed the most.

You might also look into Bill Munroe's Hydrogen Peroxide Inhalation Therapy on this site. It has helped so many people.

Keep us posted!

I am 57 yrs old, have had asthma since I was little, but it never required me to get meds for it. The past 2 yrs I did notice a little that I would wheeze when I went out in the cold, or got upset, so I started using my grand-daughters puffer when I needed it...(I know..I should never do that) Anyway, the end of Aug. I went to my Dr., my chest was tight, and I was wheezing. She gave me a puffer for it, 4 days of presidone, and Abuterol for a Nebulizer. It got better for 10 days, then it got worse, so she gave me another 4 days of Presidone, plus an antibiotic for 4 days, and I quit smoking that day, Sept. 29th..(I had told her when I cough the AIR that came up tasted funny, like metal, which I think is infection..isent it?) and she changed my Nebulizer med. to ipratropium bromide and albuterol sulfate..

Anyway, it got better..alot better, I was wanting to be off the Nebulizer, but Dr. said 4 more wks, . The very next day I took a tour of a factory, I immediately could not breathe, due to glue there, and left the building wheezing. Two days (Oct 13) later I was worse, & had to go to the ER. They wrote Asthma/Acute Bronchitis, gave me steroid shot, another wk of antibiotic, and the 21 tablet presidon..I am much better, BUT I am coughing up alot of clear mucus, and every 4 hrs when its time for my Nebulizer, I try and wait, but become wheezy, and out of breathe. I also have allergies and clear mucus flows from my nose when I have coughing fits, so I am using a nasal wash, which helps...Its been 1 month since I quit smoking, coughing at nite a lot, and at 2am I wake wheezing..can the Apple Cider Vinegar HELP me at all???? I am doing Lung exersizes as well, and I exer. 45 min a day and ride a bike 2-3 miles a day. I have 2 more wks on Nebulizer..then what??? Will this go away???. sincerely Missy

You should all be using the Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide which is 35% and must be diluted to 3% for use. It is a ratio of 1 part H202 and 11 parts distilled water. The other store brand which you seem to be using has stabilizers and chemicals in it.

I had pneumonia in the first week of May 2014, took 1 round of antibiotics and the fever and pneumonia was gone, but I had a bad dry cough which started with a tickle in my throat and swelling and tightness uncontrollable coughing lasting about 30 seconds. The tickle/uncontrollable coughing fits were asthma attacks per the doc. Doc said I had bronchial inflammation (bronchitis) and treated me with a nebulizer to inhale 2 rounds of prescription drugs while I was there. Said it would open up my bronchial tubes and bring the phlegm out. Prescribed me $300 (even after insurance) powder inhaler and asthma inhaler and gave me prednisone. The same night I started having a productive cough and it was a pale yellow color. Kind of like the color of french fries. For 2 weeks I had this heavy productive cough and it didnâ€TMt get any better. The asthma attacks got worse as if my body got used to the inhalers. I called the doc and they wanted me to go for more testing. I was tired of paying for prescriptions. I googled and found that colloidal silver worked for many. I didnâ€TMt have a nebulizer but had a Vicks personal steam inhaler. I put 10ppm (had in cabinet) into the inhaler and turned it on and inhaled. It gave me a slight headache so I stopped after about 30 seconds of inhaling. Then the next 3 days I did it when I awoke and before sleeping (no more headache). Then did it only before I slept, instantly, my symptoms improved. Chest heaviness gone. After the second day that tickle/cough went away. I would only feel a slight tickle and cough up phlegm. I would cough it onto a Kleenex to keep track of the color and thickness. Daily I noticed it got thinner and then became mixed some parts thick some parts clear. Since I started colloidal silver 7 days ago, I no longer use the asthma inhalers. Asthma is totally gone. The only symptom I have is a cough here and there and each time it brought up phlegm. Today I spat into a Kleenex and saw that the phlegm was completely clear, no color at all. The colloidal silver got rid of the infection and allowed my lung to clear up the rest of the phlegm. After 4 months of coughing and misery, I am finally recovering. I will continue to use it for another 7 days for good measure. After that, I will start to take it under my tongue for detox of any pathogens I may have that I do not know of ;) Magical stuff!

I LOVE this site! Ever since two yrs ago when I too, stumbled upon its remedy of ACV w honey for an upper respiratory & sinus infection- very sick. The illness was working its way through all my students and faculty. Day one - I made the tea sipped and breathed in the steam from cup as prescribed. Throughout the day, I continued to drink ACV w water to thin the mucus. Day two- my symptoms were GONE!

Unfortunately, this time I waited too long to take ACV w water(also did not do it often enough) so it would not fight it off.

We are in LA for two weeks w our first grand child's birth. So I broke down and went to doctor to be prescribed augmentin - did not phase my bronchitis ( I think I contracted it on my flight to LA bc I am rarely sick anymore). Doctor prescribed augmentin. By day three no improvement. Doctor then prescribes biactin, now day three you would think I would feel better - woke up w a coughing fit.

So back to Earth Clinic - just drank the recipe here - which cleared most of the phlegm and cough has subsided. Now I can go back to bed and get some rest. I will continue to drink this remedy and pray I have eliminated the cough for the remainder of my stay.

Thank you again Earth Clinic and it's many followers for your feedback.

I was diagnoised with bronchitis the other day and given antibiotics that worked some but I continued with a lot of pain in my chest. I read the other posts and can confirm they work.

Since I had most of the remedy ingredients, I used them all. And this morning at 8 am I feel I am on the road to recovery. Pain is down by 80% and I am starting to feel like doing things.

i took the following at 10 pm last night and again at 5 am this morning. After 1 hour of the first dose I was able to go to sleep and make it through the night. 3 hours after the second dose and I am now feeling a whole lot better.

I took:1 tablespoon ACV

1 tablespoon of Honey that I get at a drugstore---truly pure

5 1000 mg pure garlic pearls

1 teaspoon of Propoleo extract

Heat a glass of water--400 ml-- mix all ingredients and drink. I took the garlic pearls while drinking the Acv honey tea. I will continue this plus my antibiotcs until the antibiotcs run out on Monday.

BELIVE ME IT WORKS. IF IT DID NOT I WOULD SAY THE REMDIES WERE BUNK. THEY WORK. I TRUST EARTH CLINIC

I've had problems with bronchitis for several years. One time it got so bad and I looked for cures in a natural health book. It mentioned oregano would heal it. I went to a health food store and got some oregano pills called oregasyn. It worked very well, almost too well. The phlegm came out very quickly. I found oregamax works more gently. When I can't get them, I tried McCorrmick ground oregano in water and it works pretty well but you have to drink a cup every few hours. In the Philippines, oregano leaves are boiled in water and the leaves are squeezed for the juice and one cup is drunk once a day for three days. That has sometimes been enough for me.

Hello, wanted to share my bronchitis remedy

I month ago I had a terrible pain in my chest, it felt like a very sharp pain, I knew I had bronchitis. After couple days my symptoms got worse and my mom recommended to use cabbage leaf with little bit of honey. Each night I would put cabbage and tiny bit of honey on my chest covered with parchment thin paper (compress) and went to bed. As I woke up I felt such a relief!!! I stopped coughing, the pain was gone and all the bad stuff was coming out of me, I would ran to bathroom and spit out some greenish mucus :( I did that remedy for about 4 days and I was so happy for my cure! Cabbage is such a great vegetable! If you have sensitive skin put very tiny bit of honey, not too much! Make sure to avoid the heart area to put honey.

I'm glad I didnt take any antibiotics!

Vitamin C

I got a virus a couple weeks ago and unfortunately had to turn to a 5 day dose of antibiotics to help me when it turned into acute bronchitis. No supplements or home remedies helped me as I tried to battle the bronchitis. I took oregano oil, apple cider vinegar, colloidal silver, vitamin e and a few other supplements.

What's been helping the lingering cough and constant sinus drip is high doses of vitamin c. I am taking 1,000mg 4 times a day, with about 4 hours in between. What amazes me is how much vitamin c my body needs right now. Normally anything over 1,000 mg a day causes diarrhea. Now I'm up to 4,000 a day without any problems. It's rapidly healing the bronchitis cough and constant sinus drip. Amazing.

Next time I start to get a cough, I am going to go the high dose vitamin c route first and hopefully won't have to take antibiotics.

ACV does not flare up fungus overgrowth. It's recommended to help with it. Regular apple cider vinegar or white vinegar is not to be used if you have yeast/fungus overgrowth. You must use pure ACV. It has lots of natural healing properties that come from the "mother" vinegar found.

Dear Dave,

I thought I would second this method of dealing with a bronchial infection. This week some of my children started with a cough. One of my sons, who is generally pretty healthy, gets the most awful sounding cough, and when he does, it lasts for a long time. This week I heard that cough of his start. I thought of your colloidal silver in the nebulizer recommendation. I started him on it right away. (I was only doing this 3-4 times a day; next time I may try more.) I used 10ppm colloidal silver, about 3ml worth. I did the same thing for my smaller children who were starting to cough (I may have only done about 2ml for small ones. Even my two year old can use the nebulizer.). I am thrilled with how well this worked. Usually a cough in a big family means a good bit of missed sleep for mama. My son noticed an immediate improvement in his breathing after using the nebulizer. This week, whenever I realized anyone was coughing, I would use the nebulizer on them. I do think catching it early makes a difference. They could tell it helped. Some were asking to use it!

I did pick back up on giving homemade Elderberry syrup to everyone. (I had gotten lax about dosing over the holidays.)

So, thanks for making this method known to me! It works for us, too.

Colloidal Silver

Just to report a sudden infection in bronchial/and maybe lungs and how I'm treating. (OR .... will my favorite remedy work?)

Yesterday afternoon, about 2:00 pm was suddenly aware of a tickle in throat...really bronchial area. Hoped it was just too much "creamy" foods which can sometimes produce a lactose problem. I knew it was either that or an infection and I was fearing a possible infection since two people in my office had come down with bad bronchial infections in past week.

Worse as evening progressed until I was experiencing deep coughing. Finally, I admit to myself.... I'm infected. And I know what's coming; very intense spasmodic coughing, five days of recovery; no sleep; blood in mucus and possibly spread to lungs.

Immediately, I get nebulizer and pour in my good old standby ... colloidal silver into the "pan"...I am deep breathing in five minutes the soothing warm mist. Deep breathing....repeat four times before bedtime. To my relief I actually get four hours of sleep before being awakened by more spasmodic coughing. (Actually, being awakened is good as I am reminded to get more CS into bronchial and lungs.)

Now two hours later I've inhaled CS three times and as I was doing it both last night and this AM could actually FEEL the tickling relieved and could feel the congestion mucus letting go in back of throat. That was interesting because when the infection really hit, I did not have any nasal/sinus or ear problems. That's one reason I thought the bronchial issue was food related.

I can tell the breathing is much alleviated.. But it is still there. I'll re apply six or seven times again today and will report back.

In my pre Colloidal Silver days (when I knew not of CS) this kind of infection would usually lay me low for an agonizing five days to a week. I've knocked it out at least six times in the last eight years (I'm guessing) when it gets into bronchial. Did not discover the use of nebulizer for vaporizing the CS to kill an internal infection until about 8 years ago.

I'll report back in 24 hours on progress just to let anyone who might be interested know how effective the treatment is (or is not)...at least on me.

Be sure to use FOOD GRADE H202 to inhale. The drug store H202 is stabilized with heavy metals. You can use drug store H202 to Kill the mold and for cleaning non food areas like the bathroom or for laundry instead of bleach.- it works far better than anything else for mold.

I just tried the essential oils you listed after making sure I ordered the purest available and after breathing in the stream or hot vapor I feel better, calm, my breathing is less labored. I used a few drops of each with only a cup and a half of water and I'm breathing better immediately and I only inhaled it for about 10 minutes too. Thanks again.

I had acute bronchitis for almost 5 months. I suffered quite a bit. I was given several doses of antibiotics nothing seemed to work. I tried ayurvedic medicines, and I found some relief but the cough was still there. That is when I tried the raw garlic few pods and chewed and ate it, followed by some water. I did it twice that day and the next day I was feeling so much better. I continued for 2 more days and stopped for a day and continued for 3 more days. so in a week my cough was completely gone. I thank earthclinic and all the users for their remedies. Thanks

ACV for Bronchitis. YEA.

LINGERING MOSTLY-UNPRODUCTIVE COUGH? I typically get this cough that lasts for 2-4 MONTHS shortly after getting over a seasonal cold/flu. Otherwise reasonably healthy (no asthma, young, non-smoker). I wind up getting prescribed an albuterol and/or prednisone based inhaler to help treat (but not cure) the symptoms. This has happened several years in a row now. Same routine. Coughing all day and night sucks. This year, after a significantly longer bout with this hanger-on cough (4+ months, coughing daily - and nightly), I finally got sick of it and remembered Earthclinc and the nice YAY/NAY format... and happened upon ACV+Lemon+Honey in a tea as a suggestion.

So here's what I did:

- Juice of 1/2 a fresh lemon
- 2 or 3 cap fulls of Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 1 low tablespoon (or big teaspoon) of Manuka Honey*
- Filled the rest of the cup with boiling water

*Note: I used Manuka New Zealand honey because that's what I had here. Manuka honey supposedly has it's own "special" benefits over regular honey. Perhaps the Manuka honey played a role here, but I bought it because it was on sale :)

And the results? After MONTHS of coughing nearly all day and well into the night, it took just 3 nights of this concoction and it's done. Over. Quiet. My wife (who attempts to sleep next to me) is very happy. I continued to make the drink for 2 more nights.

I just wanted to give a big thanks to EarthClinic & the users who've posted this "cure".

I tried inhalation, and it seemed to make things better for a few hours, but after a day of spraying hydrogen peroxide into my lungs (5 sprays 3x a day for one day) my throat got really sore. I don't think it's worth it to be burning the back of my throat. Am I doing something wrong?
