Hi - I love this site! Once again, you guys rock!

I decided to give Blackstrap Molasses a try after reading all the posts and researching BSM a bit.

My periods have changed over the last couple of years. I feel like they are heavier and cramping is more noticeable. However, they are still fairly regular. I'm 37 now.

Two days into my period and right before bed, I mixed one heaping spoonful of BSM with about a quarter cup of water. I downed it but I didn't care for the taste. I tend to try out these remedies right before bed because I like to think that I am letting my body heal itself while I sleep.

Anyway, I woke up and I could tell the cramping was less severe and my energy level was up. I also noticed the flow was less heavy.

I had a second glass when I woke up, but this time I mixed a heaping spoonful with some soy milk. This was very yummy! All my cramping is gone, my energy level is up and the flow has lessened significantly.

l'm not sure if I'll continue this as a daily regimen (I do have concerns about mineral and Calcium build-up), but I will definitely add this to my arsenal of health remedies.

Thanks again, to everyone!

Hello I am AKM from Atlanta, Ga. I have been bleeding like crazy during my cycle for like 5 year. I tried the molasses this go round and was shocked to find a normal period though it lasted 7 day on the nose. My question is does anyone know why this stuff works? I am asking because I feel little strange. I have some cramps here and Im a little tired. I do suffer from anemia also. But I want to know what happened to all the blood and clots, are they still in there or did the molasses cause it to be reabsorbed or what. Because I started it just a few days before so im sure all that store of stuff was built up and ready to go. So where did it go?

This remedy does really work for balancing hormones, headaches, cramping and heavy bleeding during menstruation especially when peri menopause, I am 48 yrs old. It does take a couple of months to get results. I take 2 tsp daily either on toast or on a cracker. Usually once in the morning and once in the afternoon. It's truly amazing how it has changed these symptoms. Be patient and do it every day.

After reading about Blackstrap Molasses for this I decided to give it a try. I do use natural progesterone cream but may stop using it if this works. (Yes, I have heard it can cause fibroids to grow, but it helped me with night sweats etc. ) I have had terrible periods for years where I am actually down for at least two days. Cannot work etc. Forget any functions with family. I had to miss my Grandson's 6th birthday last year because I couldn't leave the house! Miserable non stop bleeding and clotting. Very draining. Kind of feel like I am outside of myself due to all the pain and blood loss.

I tried Blackstrap Molasses one tbs a day prior to this last period and I have to say I am totally shocked. By the second day of my period I am out of it, but not this time. I actually was up and about, able to go to the store without having to turn around and leave right away due to "flooding", and even did some chores! I was in tears. Hardly any cramping at all except for a little the second day. I am going to continue this. I also take two tbs Apple Cider Vinegar a day and just starting taking iodine as I know I am probably low. Anyone who has this problem must try the Blackstrap Molasses as I know adding this to my regular regimen is what helped since I was already taking the Apple Cider Vinegar prior to the bsm. (unsulfphered) Makes me want to cry right now out of sheer relief! Good luck to all.

I had a child almost 2 years ago, along with many bad pap results. After many doctors appointments and tests nothing could be found on why I was having vaginal bleeding. I have bled for almost 2 years straight. After 9 months of continuos bleeding I was sent to a specialist who put me on a birth control pill. This did stop the bleeding sometimes, but never had a scheduled period either. I saw this page and read what the molasses did for other woman I have took 1 tablespoon in the am and 1 in the pm this is my 3rd day and I have stopped bleeding... It is truely a miracle!!! Thank you so much for this information!!

I got to admit, I really didnt think it would work, but after having an extremely heavy period for 23 days I was ready to try anything. I started taking the molasses on Tuesday, 1 tb. in the morning and another at night, by Friday, my period had stopped. It is now Monday, and I am still period-free!! My only negative side-effect is a pimple on my face. After having a 3 week period with super-heavy flow with severe cramps and clots... It is hard to explain how happy I am!!! My boyfriend is happy!!! I can have an active sex life again!! There were days that I couldnt even leave the house because I was bleeding so badly. I thank God that I came across this website!! And all this only cost around $3.00. I bought the 'Brer Rabbit' brand of unsulfured molasses from my local supermarket. Thanks you so much for the help!!! I'm telling all my friends!!

MIRACLE!!!!! I have suffered from heavy menstrual cycle for nearly 4 years. After having normal. Very light 3 day periods my entire life, living the last 4 years, basically hemorrhaging every month was hell. I was diagnosed with anemia and told that I need a hysterectomy. Not a fan of doctors or surgery, I was desperate to find a natural cure. The day I found this site, I went to the health store and purchased Organic unsulfered Blackstrap Molasses. My bleeding slowed withing 24 hours and completely stopped within 48 hours!! I did not have a bleed for another 28 days. My first period after starting my BSM regime (1tbsp in am & pm) only consisted of one heavy day and a total of 4 days and NO blood clots!!!

Prior to this, I would go sometimes 3months without stopping. In addition to that, I would horrible embarrassing accidents and often could not leave my house. This is a miracle cure for me. I have recently started taking Apple Cider Vinegar and between the two, I haven't felt better in years. Thank you all for your testimonies...... You saved my life!!!

I was like clock-work until I got birth control when I was 19 (I'm now 37). Since then, I've had menstruation issues - either have extra heavy periods for up to 3 weeks or nothing at all. Depending on the method and how long my periods were, I have been in and out of anemia. (Believe me, I've tried every birth control known to mankind, I think, and none of them worked. ) Anyway, I'm never been big into homeopathic treatments, but thought I'd give it a shot when I found this website. I started taking 1 tbs blackstrap molasses twice a day about a week ago Monday (when I was expecting my period on Wed). Just when I thought I was going to be off again, I got my period on Thursday and it stopped this morning (4 days)! I couldn't believe it!

I'm still not 100% convinced since this is my 1st time, but if this happens a month from now, you can be assured that I will be shouting its praises from the tops of every mountain I climb. For this month, I sincerely thank this website and everyone on it who had recommended blackstrap molasses. Will let you know how it goes next month.

I was diagnosed with fibroids about 6 or 7 years ago. I am now 44. About 18 months ago, my periods started to become irregular. In about the last 6 months, they have become really heavy and longer. With 3-4 heavy days and lasting as long as 10 days with the flow tapering off to med and light, then finally ending. Let's just say, it has been hell trying to plan anything. Travel, especially. Anyway I found this site about a month ago, was going thru tests with my doc and she was talking surgery (i am also anemic) and I wanted to find something natural to try. I started taking BSM on April 3rd (1 T/day). I am in the middle of (day #4) my first period since starting it.

1. My period started on the exact day that it was suppose to.
2. I have had 2 heavy days (with only 1 heavy night) so far.

I see this as a good sign.

I had super heavy periods. I had to change my pad 3 times in 1 hour. I tried the blackstrap molasses. It worked almost immediately. Stopped the heavy bleeding. My periods use to last 12-16 days, now they last 3 days. I take a tablespoon every morning from a spoon. I chase it with a tablespoon of yogurt. When I am having a period I take it twice a day, 12 hours apart. Just curious, does anyone have an odor with their period and how do you cure that??

I really wanted to thank this site for sharing a herbal remedy to all health problems. I've been looking for an alternative remedy about abnormal menstruation and I end up in this site which is really amazing. I always have a normal period which lasted 3 days, but this last 2 years its getting longer that it even lasted for almost a month then just 2 or 3 days rest and here it goes again and with a very big clot as well. I end up anemic.. I tried so many herbal things like ACV but I cannot take it, maybe I am too acidic that when I took it I felt pain in my tummy...body can tell if it is not for you. Then I tried Blackstrap Molasses bought it for just £1.70 in a health shop in MK. At first I thought it will not work, though I like the taste bec. it is sweet. I took 1 tablespoon in the morning and again before bedtime..first 3 days nothing happen but I continued drinking it..little by little my period getting lesser and lesser..blood clot gone and at exactly one week my bleeding stopped!!! But of course it always comes with prayer. So why not try it, it really happened to me.. I thought people from this site is just exaggerating things. But I am a real and my experience is TRUE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!

I had started to have irregular longer periods and shorter cycles; eg. 23 day cycle instead of 28 days and my periods were lasting a full week instead of the usual 4-5 days. I got on this site and read about the blackstrap molasses which I purchased from a health food store. By the end of the first month my period regulated itself back to a 28-29 days cycle and my periods last 3-5 days with much less bleeding then before. Not only did it put my cycle back to normal(I'm 38) but my hair grew 6 inches in the last year and my fingernails are beautiful and hard! I tell everyone about it! At first I took a tablespoon a day, first thing in the morning, then had my coffee, but now I take just a teaspoon a day for the same results!

I purchased Organic Molasses manufactured by Wholesome Sweeteners from The Food Co-op in Cleveland(on sale $3.98/31 oz. bottle). This version is unsulphured. I have only been taking it for one week, but the first day I used it was 2 days before the start of my menses. I noticed that the flow decreased in duration from 6 days to 4 days. I am 47 years old, do not have fibroids or any other complaint other than some gray hair and ocassional stiff knees. I am in general good health. I swallow two tablespoons in the mornings straight down. I will take note of the duration of my cycle next month as well. I am not expecting to see any changes in my hair color for at least 4 months. Will keep you posted. Thanks to all who have shared their input. Peace, health, abundance & wealth to all!

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that you should look into Ted's remedy for white hair. He recommends vitamin C in alkaline form, that is, Sodium Ascorbate in crystalline powder form. I take one teaspoon in the morning and one at night. Look up Ted's entry on white hair and read how he got rid of his white hair! Thank you for your Black Strap Molasses entry! Good luck!

At the end of August my menstrual cycle lasted 3 weeks and the flow was three times as heavyas normal. The Dr. said I had "huge" fibroids and an ovarian cyst on my right ovary. They said some of my options were a hysterectomy or trying birth control pills. I found earthclinic instead.

Thanks to the advice on earthclinic, I decided to try the molasses trick. Our grocery store didn't carry the blackstrap--so I thought I'd wait until I got somewhere that did. After only 1 week off--I got my cycle again. On the 2nd day it was abnormally heavy again--I thought --shoot, I'll try the regular stuff, and bought the regular molasses-mild and unsulphered. I took 1 TBSP.

Was it coincidence that it worked instantly? Was it conincidence that the cramping dissapeared? Was it conincidence that my next 2 cycles were right on schedule and back to normal? More importantly, was it coincidence that my follow up ultra-sound showed that the cyst had dissolved and the fibroids were now classified as large-rather than huge? I don't know--but for $2.50 per month (the cost of the bottle and how long it lasted) I will definately continue with taking 1 TBSP per day coincidence or not!!

I haven't tried the molasses remedy yet but I found it odd that for some reason I bought some Blackstrap Molasses at the store the other day without ever reading this site! I decided to use it in my baked beans last night. I wasn't sure that I liked it but it was a taste I could probably get used to. This evening I Googled a cure to slow down menstral bleeding and came upon this site. I was immediately drawn to the blackstrap molasses feedbacks. What a coincidence that I just happen to have some. I think the body must tell us what it needs if we listen to it. For some reason I bought ginger root too. When my mother was dying from cancer she kept asking for blueberries. One of the last things we did before she got sick was make blueberry jam. I know the body sometimes craves sugar and fat and things that are not good for it but if we listen to it, it will tell us the good things it needs as well. It was too late for my mom but her body was looking for something to fight the cancer with so she craved the blueberries. I believe there is something to learn from this in preventive measures to assist the body. I am going to try this blackstrap molasses and the ginger root and I will report back. I am so glad that I found all of these testimonies. It is very encouraging. Thank you!!!

I tried blackstrap molasses (the Brer' Rabbit brand) to try and lighten and shorten my periods. I took one tablespoon daily (in the morning), dissolved it in a little warm water, and topped off with 8 oz. of milk. I actually enjoy the taste, so keeping up with it was not a problem. When my period started, I took the aforementioned concoction twice a day (once in the morning and once at night). The first thing I noticed was that I began spotting. Not a lot, but faintly at least once each week between my periods. When my period started, it was heavier than normal. What is really strange is around the second day, all flow stopped, and I believed that the blackstrap was working. Then, a whole day passed without any flow, but by the next day, my period had returned with heavy flow again. I was really hoping that blackstrap would work for me. It seems that the other posters here had almost instantaneous results.

Sometimes, milk (and other dairy) can complicate menstrual and hormonal issues. Of course, the molasses might have just not been the 'cure' for you and your body, but the milk component might be something to keep in mind.

Dairy was found to make menstrual flow heavier. I can only imagine how the Blackstrap Molasses and dairy are fighting doing two opposite jobs while you're taking more of the dairy than the bsm

I've read that blackstrap molasses helps with menstrual cycle. I need to knew if it will help my 13 year old. She skipped Aug & no signs for Sept. other than pinching in sides . This problem started last year. Dr gave her med that helped but side effects troubled me. Also, I cann't find BLACKSTRAP, but did find UNSULPHURED. Is it the same?

I think it's very normal for a 13 year old to skip periods. I have an older teen, and although she began menstruating at the age of 12, it was about 2 or 3 years before it became a "regular cycle." I, too, was concerned since I run just about like clockwork myself. But I did some reading on the subject, and it's very common, in fact, more normal than not. Really, I had forgotten that I, too, as a young teen didn't have a predictable cycle. Other than that, blackstrap molasses certainly shouldn't hurt your daughter, but it may not "regulate" her either-- just a growing thing, I think.

I have been taking unsulphured blackstrap molasses since the first week of June. I have fibroids and bleed very heavily and my cycles last 10 days. I take a spoonful in hot water twice a day. For this July cycle, I did notice a decrease in the severity of the cramps I experience. But my flow is heavy as usual-nothing has changed there. I noticed another lady posted that her acne seemed to get worse on the molasses. It seems that is also the case with me. I am going to finish the bottle that I have and maybe decrease to only one spoonful a day to see if my acne gets better. I haven't been taking it that long, but I'm disappointed still the same...

Hi Vee - What really helped my heavy (and I do mean HEAVY) flow was drinking apple cider vinegar throughout the day on the "bad" days. I put two tablespoons of ACV, a pinch (1/4 tsp) baking soda - add water and top it off with a little orange juice to taste. I drink it slowly, all day long. It really does work for me. I also have fibroids, and have had doctors offer more than once over the years to operate on me. I am so glad to have found this site, and the cures here! Best of luck to you. . . Carly

I have been taking Apple Cider Vinegar pills since May, and I didn't notice a change at all and I am almost done with the bottle of pills. I didn't like the taste of just the Apple Cider Vinegar. I guess I'll try your suggestion, and decrease the amount of the blackstrap molasses I take. I really don't have anything to lose. My condition has worsened over the years & if this doesn't work, I've already decided to go ahead & have surgery.

I too have, or I should say HAD, extremely heavy flow caused by a large fibroid. Severe cramps, multiple large clots, period on more than off, seemed like I was always 'on'. I even had an ablation (burn and scrape the lining of the uterus), was fine for about 4 months, which was also the healing period so my personal life was still disrupted and then the heavy periods came back, the huge clots, hours spent in the bathroom because the flow is so heavy you cant even leave the toilet. I was becoming anemic and my immune system droppped. I kept getting annoying illnesses because of this and finally a really bad staph infection and thats when I found earthclinic, Thank all the powers that be!!! I searched for staph infection cures and found turmeric (another miracle) That stuff WORKS! For the past month I have been looking up everything on this site and reading just random posts too, I wanted to respond to you because my next step was surgery too and I did not want to be cut on! I found out that Black Cohosh supports womens health so I added it to my morning supplements and since I have been taking it my periods have been less each month virtually no cramps and not one clot. I was on my cycle last month and missed taking it one morning and I passed a clot that afternoon, I have not missed a dose since and I have had excellent results. I bought the blackstrap for other health benefits and have not been taking it on a schedule so can't give any feedback on that except it tastes better than ACV! Oh and regarding the acne from the blackstrap, from all I am learning on this site and many others, acne is caused by bacteria and it seems a good body cleanse in addition to this and the other main remedies would balance things out. Maybe if you added just Ted's alkalyzing concotion of 1/4 tsp baking soda to 4 oz water, I think there are several formulas but bacteria cannot live in an alkaline environment and I cant swallow that nasty ACV hardly either. I have tried all the 'recipes' on here and it is still disgusting to me but I choke it down when I can because I know its good for me. I have heard applying it topically helps clear acne and vericose veins. I cleared my severe blackheads with a combination of coconut and pure viamin E oil. I also drink almond milk every day and it cleared up the bumps on my back and made my skin super soft all over, even my husband noticed! I guess I am just saying don't give up so fast, the answer could be on the next page and it would be so much better than going under the knife! Peace and health to you! Thanks to all the contributors, this site is more help than I have ever had to improve my health and I tell everyone about it (even strangers in the grocery store)!

Chasteberry Extract, 100mg, 2capsules, 3 times per day. I started having heavy menstrual flow shortly after the birth of my first child. Mind you not, I use to flow 3 or 4 times per year which I was very happy with. I was flowing heavily with globs non stop for about 3&1/2 months wearing 6-7 overnight pads per day. I kept going to my doctor and all he would script was different hormone pill, that kept making me gain weight. I prayed a lot and God answered my prayers. I went to my local health food store and explained to a female worker my non stop bleeding menstrual problem. I asked if she can recommend something for me to take. She said, yeah a customer told me that she tried this herb and it worked for her. I was DESPERATE and I bought it, the cheapest brand available in the store (nothing fancy). The directions said to take 2 pills 2 times a day (morning & night), I added an extra dose in the afternoon & took it 3 times a day. Upon the third day of taking this herb, my period stopped completely. I was praising God with joy and excitement. So a week before I'm about to have my cycle, I would start taking it following the directions on the bottle 2 pills 2 times/day. It would lessen my flow to 3 days(non heavy flow). In my opinion you don't have to buy the standardized one because it cost a lot more. Just buy the regular one, it will do the job just fine.

Thanks for the tip, this site is truly heaven sent. I'll try taking it before my period starts on my next cycle, to see if it helps lessen my flow. It spared me from surgery. I Googled chasteberry and found out that it is in charge of normalizing the pituitary gland, which regulates the balance of estrogen and progesterone in the body. From Heavy flow to rarely having a period, almost All of the symptoms associated with MENSTRUAL cycle can be treated with this plant.

To Lawana:

09/20/2007: lawana from grayson, ga writes: "I was reading the comment from Rosemary regarding the use of ibuprofen and its side effect of acid reflux. I am a 27 year old woman and I have been taking ibuprofen since I was about 15 for period cramps. I believe that you are right in that ibuprofen has something to do with my acid reflux. When I first started taking it I was younger and my body was a lot more youthful. But as I have gotten older the attack that ibuprofen has had on my body over the years has started to weaken its defenses. I am going to stop taking it but does anyone have any suggestions as what I can take for painful period cramps that won't irritate my acid reflux or cause another sympton to come up?"

Hey, if you want my opinion, and want to see what others have said too, look up the wonders of molasses on this site. It seems to be helping lots of people including myself with very painful menstral cramps. (1-2 T. full a day is what I've read.) Much as I'm sure the birth control pills would probably work, they too are a drug! They mess with the delacate hormone balance and tend to cause estrogen dominance, leading to mood and other physical problems. Not to mention, if you're like me and want more "blessings from above", that is a really bad suggestion. No offense to the person who said it, but it just may not be for everyone.

I had excruciating cramps with cold sweats (lifeless for the first two days) for 25 years, and relied on muscle relaxants and painkillers (could not remember the names). I only know that I could not use Ponstan because it stopped my flow on the same day.

Five years ago, I decided to do away with synthetic painkillers (strain the kidneys), and go for natural remedies and tried to bear up to my pain tolerant level. One massage of clove Franch oil or Tea tree oil on my lower abdomen twice a day helps about 20%.

Swedish bitters was my best natural painkiller until I ran out of supply. It's expensive and not easily available here.

I tried black molasses with either ginger powder, cinnamon powder, turmeric or a combination of all. Didn't work for me. 30ml Dom liqour (for mothers after births) every 3-4 hourly kept my body warm.

Just last September, I discovered that black ground coffee (Aik Cheong - a local brand here) by accident, which did wonders for me. [I only take coffee when I feel lethargic or unwell during travels. ] No pain, no chills except in air conditioned places and I was lively. Heavy flow for the first two days to light ones over the next two days.

I use 1 satchet to make a cup after breakfast. Then, reuse it to make another cup after lunch when I am home. Normally, I would take fish oil, nutritional yeast (Vit B) and Calcium/Magnesium tablet. For some reason, I had lots of blood clots last month. Incidentally, I started 2tbsp ground flaxseed with cereal drink for breakfast. [Ted mentioned in Cancer Diet that Calcium causes blood clots. ] Let's see what happens if I omit Calcium/Magnesium for this coming one.
