Pineapple

Pineapple helped to get rid of my white tongue. I'm not sure why, I think it has an enzyme or chemical in it that causes the tongue coating to dissolve. Eat at least a couple of bites once or twice a day. This helps, but is not enough alone. The proper oral routine is necessary too. I found that brushing twice a day with a sls-free toothpaste allowed my tongue to shed normally and remain pink and healthy, which wouldn't happen with regular toothpaste. And don't use mouthwash or brush or scrape your tongue. Oil pulling once a day will help as well.

I brush my teeth 7 times a day, by the way I never have cavities. This amount of brushing still never stops the film --- however, when i was drinking 3/4 gal of water a day (there was about 3 months of my life that I did this) the film totally disappeared! it's true.

Find these posts really interesting. I have an ongoing issue with stomach which I am waiting to be seen by a consultant for. Either gastritis, ulcer or whatever. But I noticed that when I took some antibiotics my carpet coated tongue disappeared for a few days and then a week later it was worse than ever.

So it must be to do with the balance of the flora. Having read these posts I have brushed the contents of a biotic capsule on my yellow very carpety tongue and am keeping my fingers crossed and wonder if there is a connection between the tongue and how my stomach plays up.

A yellow coating on the tongue is usually stomach acid. It sounds like a case of reflux.

To Manish:

The white coating is related to fungal/viral/or bacterial buildup.

So I use anti pathogens; H202 sprayed onto tongue; or gargle with colloidal silver; or coat with any of the anti viral oils, like tea tree oil once a week.

White Tongue Remedies

I use tea tree oil twice daily on my tongue & also brush my teeth with it as well. What I do is take a metal spoon & scrape off gently the white coating. I've been doing this for close to 2 years now. My tongue is looking so much better than it was. This trick works wonders in getting rid of the white coating but we have to get rid of what's causing it though.

Most of the white coating is gone but still some left. Keep in mind, our tongues indicate what our digestive health is like. I have a candida, bacterial, & viral overgrowth. I'm using the protocol from Bill to get rid of this awful condition. Good Luck & God Bless!

Yes, you are dehydrated. Visit the watercure online and you will find out. Celtic sea salt is needed to keep your body hydrated. Otherwise you allow your body to be leached of vitamins and minerals. That is the beginning of many diseases. Our medical system profits from it.

White-coated tongue is a common problem seen in many people and it can lead to symptoms like bad breath or bitter taste in the mouth. Most likely, white-coated tongue is a sign of dehydration. Drink water, natural fruit juices or other healthy fluids throughout the day. Once you drink all these watery foods, you can notice that your tongue turns into pink. There are some natural remedies to treat white-coated tongue.

Salt is the best remedy to treat white-colored tongue. Sprionkle some salt on your tongue and scrub it with a toothbrush for a minute.

Oil pulling is another effective practice that tretas white-coated tongue. Before brushing your teeth in the morning, put 1 tablespoon of extra-virgin coconut oil in your mouth. Swish it around in your mouth between your teeth and under the tongue. Do this for 15 minutes until you see the oil turns milky in color. Spit out the oil and rinse your mouth with warm water. Do this once in a day for overall oral health.

Put 1 tablespoon of aloe-vera juice in your mouth and swish it around for a few minutes and spit it out. Then drink 1 tablespoon of aloe-vera juice and repeat this remedy for few times daily. Continue this for 2 weeks and you will find amazing changes in your tongue.

A while ago I read a comment here where someone said that the coated tongue had got better after cleaning the teeth with a more natural tooth paste. As I have had this problem all my life and nothing seemed to make it better today I decided to go looking for one and guess what? After doing it just once my tongue was pink and has stayed that way for the rest of the day. Let's see whether it won't get coated again but so far so good. This is a tooth paste without flouride or other additives and it has salt made by a well known brand of health products.

tongue tastes horrid and feels like ive burnt it, rear teeth coated, tried everything:
oral medicine from doctor (mild response but made stomach sore)
water drinking increase
mouthwash
now trying rock salt, which cleans it better, but it still keeps coming back

its driving me insane, waking to it every morn (i brush tongue with salt and gargle) then by afternoon its back.

I had a white coated tongue for most of my life (52 years old). Yesterday I decided to follow some advice I read here and bought natural tooth paste with salt. It is more expensive than normal tooth pastes but well, it did the trick right away. My tongue was clean from the first time I brushed my teeth with it and it is still clean today. I think that all that stuff in tooth pastes is not good for you.

It might be something in your diet causing the issue. I get a white tongue when I drink milk or soy milk and a brown tongue when I eat honey! Goat milk and rice milk is okay for me, no white tongue. Experiment by removing one food after another to find out what the culprit is. It could also be a sign of candida overgrowth.Good luck to you!

Hi, have had a coated tongue for years (33 yo) and don't know why. Brush it every night gargled, use salt, have a healthy diet blah blah blah.

I've recently (2 months ago), having read of the dangers of parabens and Sodium Laurel Sulphate, stopped using all cleansing products apart from a little, food grade shower gel on armpits, groin and bum. I extended this to toothpaste 2 days ago, I now use one with aloevera and teatree oil in. My tongue has gone clean!

Also, in this time, my very mild but persistent 'bacne' has cleared up, my forehead bumps have gone down, and I'm regrowing little hairs on my, sadly, thinning pate.

I think I was allergic to the chemicals.

There is a pink herbal gum and toothpaste you get here in Ireland and UK - which used to be, and still is, sold under one brandname [not common] - but also seems to be copied or taken over by another well-known mainstream mouth hygeine brand. Its salty and has various herbs including echinacea and myrrh and sage - it does wonders for my mouth health, along with probiotic lozenges. After getting used to this toothpaste it is revolting to use those standard frothy ones that make my mouth and tongue feel disgusting. These things definitely keep BB and white tongue in check - they don't completely cure my BB, but am going to try other things mentioned on this site.

Strangely also try rice milk as an instant neutraliser of BB - [I am lucky enough to have a saintly being who doesn't mind checking my BB before and after trying these things.]

I have always had a thick white coating on my tongue. While drinking a few glasses of red wine (i think very cheap and bad quality as the taste was very sour and it came from China) i felt some tinkling on my tongue and a bit burning. The tinkling was as if small blisters burst open. The next day the white coating was dark purple from the wine, and after brushing the colour was still here. One or two days later i looked at my tongue and it was pink! Never seen this in my life before, and not justa little pink. But fresh, smooth, clean, the best and nicest tongue i have ever seen. Like photoshopped!

Now after 9 weeks it is coming back a little but, not too much. I wish i could find that wine again!

Anybody here has an idea about what in this red wine might have caused this amazing result?

I didn't really measure..just made a paste for my toothbrush..kept in on for 4 minutes then brushed a few more times. I'm so embarrassed that I have been blasting people with my nasty breath for so many years when such an easy cure was available. I'm going to try Lactobacillus supplements to prevent reoccurence.

Strangely, I have a white coating on the walls of my mouth, especially where the teeth join. I also have a white tongue and sometimes even the roof of my mouth turns white. I also have little red dots on my tongue and sometimes my tongue looks almost hairy. I recently found out that if I go through a whole pack of Lofthouse's Fisherman's Friend Lozenges, by the end of the day the white coating is gone and all that is left is the little red dots. I just bough two more packs and am going to go through them both over the next two days to see if I can get rid of this for good. I'm also going to rinse with salt water in the hopes of getting rid of bacteria.

Hi All! I've had BB for about 7 years(brush and it's smells bad again in 15 minutes) so thinking it was tonsil stones (had lots of throat infections & strep) I got my tonsils removed in early Oct. This didn't help the BB issue at all or stop the dry mouth and white tongue.

After looking at EC ... This morning I brushed my teeth and tongue with gylcerin and then with baking soda and 3% hydrogen peroxide. It took the white away immediately and my mouth has had a fresh feeling since.. Even after eating. I'll continue this and let you guys know how it turns out. I'm excited to possibly be able to talk to ppl with out adverse reactions.

Why don't you give hydrogen peroxide a try. Go on that page and read the feedback about swishing it in your mouth. You can use 3% full strength. When I do it, I do it while I'm showering and hold it in my mouth for probably about a minute. It whitens the teeth, cleans the breath, kills bacteria and your tongue becomes nice and pink. Check it out. Lisa

I've experimented with the white tongue for 6 months. Tried:
Failures:
1. Honey. No success.
2. Salt - strong effect, but no success.
3. Oregano Oil - stings, but no success.
4. Peppermint Oil - failure.
5. Listerine(Eucalptus oil) - failure.
6. Baking Soda - success for 1 day, failure afterwards.
7. Borax - success for 1 day, failure afterwards.
8. Diluted Bleach - turns tounge white, failure.
9. Acidified Bleach - 1/2 cap of bleach plus 2 TBSP ACV. This should create Hypochlorite. Turns toungue whiter. No success. This is supposed to have 10x the killing power of bleach.
10. Olive Oil - this started to turn my teeth yellow. Bad Failure. Candida may feed on the Oleic acid in Olive Oil. I dunno, but I ended this experiment early.
*****
Successes"
11. Turmeric - partial improvement. Temporary. Turns tounge yellow.
12. Mega-Garlic - partial improvement. Temporary. Tongue turns brown. I got some bloodblisters on the "cheek-gums" where white blisters previously existed. Took a few days. But these multi-month whit cheek blisters actually healed. This one probably works if you're willing to follow it through for a month.
13. Coconut Oil. Partial Success. Assuming it's candida, I will say that this kills the Aeorbic form, and not the Anerobic form. Some of the white stuff instantly disappears, and some doesn't. Coconut oil definitely does something.
14. Vinnegar and Borax mix. This is at least as good as the coconut oil. Two anti-infectives mixed. Success is temporary, but you can prevent any infection from getting worse... at least hold it to a stalemate. There is a commercial drug that uses this (Dermapet). I don't mention the brand name to promote it, but instead to say there is science behind it, and clinical studies, which are listed on the website. On a side note... I have tried three different ACV's, Heinz, Publix, and _____s. I suspect the organic one, braggs, to have live acidophilus whereas the others which were pasteurized don't... as the braggs aftertaste lasted for 24 hours. Most of the white stuff disappears, some of it doesn't.
15. Potassium Iodide(KI) - placed a 64 mg ki pill on the white area of the gum, that wasn't cured by the ACV/Borax mix... cured that area... I'm thinking that's the anerobic form of candida.
16. Providone - once per day - does something. Also turns toungue brown.
************
In progress:
17. Providone/Borax mix. The comparable drug is by Frio Technologies. This has clinical trials ongoing, with success on Gingivitis, and ongoing testing for Thrush. Whereas Providone turns your tongue brown, this mix doesn't.
18. Providone - 6x per day. Started this a week ago. I've seen zero yeast in my mouth for a week. Got the blood-blister effect like the garlic (without being smellY). Seen no yeast in my mouth for a week. 1/2 of the top of my tongue turned dark brown. Seems to be scabbing up and healing. No need for the tongue scraper any more. I think I have a cure, but need more time (wait for the scabs to heal).
*****
A healthy mouth has 600 different bacteria plus fungus's, virus's, protozoa. Perhaps the definition of healthy mouth is flawed. Something is broken in mine. We'll see if I can fix it. Current Regimin is Coconut oil plus Providone(Iodine).

Iodine supposedly kills 90% of bacteria, disolves starches(yeast), and metals. If you are iodine deficient, which I may be(2 billion people are (WHO), this may help. Bacteria and yeast may reproduce quick so doseage may be small, but frequent(ie every couple hours).
****
I believe I have a cure, but need more time. Will re-post in 1 week or 2.

Multiple Remedies

I tried other stuff too, listerine, peroxide, etc...

However, I suspect 4 things... Chloride deficiency, Iodine Deficiency, Potassium Deficiency, Candida/Yeast overgrowth as the root cause. With a high potassium diet, I can turn the tongue red again for a few hours. With a teaspoon of KI, I can do the same thing.

As a high salt diet is the Merck Veterinary Cure for Candida in chickens, I suspect a chloride deficiency may cause gut problems, and yeast overgrowth, and poor digestion.

I've got premature greying, which I suspect may be Iodine deficiency(since I don't eat fish). Iodine kills yeast(and more bacteria than Chlorine).

Potassium deficiency in animals causes the intestines to turn white. I suspect the tongue as well. I suspect it just neutralizes the acids of Bacteria, and without it, they damage you, and stuff turns white do to damage.
*********
With the providone experiment, things are going great. A little slower than I wanted. No yeast in the mouth. Receding Gumlines unreceding. Strange 6 month pimples on the forehead near the hairline, healing. I would recommend this.

However, 1% providone is the minimum concentration to kill alot of bad stuff. Providone usually comes in 10% bottles. Saliva will dilute it. Providone from CVS is different from Providone in Walgreens(other ingredients).

Warning: Too much providone for too long is bad; molecular iodine like molecular chlorine can damage cells at a specific concentration for specific duration... I don't know what this number is though. The iodine is less toxic than chlorine though (both msds and experimentation).

Have any of the people reporting here with white tongue been exposed to raccoon, or mouse droppings, or have a dog that has been exposed to the droppings? I am thinking that there might be a connection from the intestional issues, Candida, and Baylisascaris procyonis.
