Apple Cider Vinegar   45  3

Posted by Peggy (Young Harris, GA) on 03/09/2009

[YEA]  Just to let you know this is a GREAT site. I have recommended it to lots of people who are having ailments which I believe can be helped by natural remedies.

I work in a long term care facility and am exposed to a lot of germs. I drink a TBS of ACV & Honey in water daily and believe this keeps my immune system up. While a horrid stomach & diarrea bug had the place quarantined, (Knock on wood) I escaped this bug which I give credit to the ACV/Honey.

My co-workers tease me about my attention to "natural" eating, etc, but I try to avoid processed foods, drink lots lots of water. Thanks so much for this site.

[YEA]  Thanks for the website. I have used apple cider vinegar since the 70's but somehow (maybe good health) it went off my radar. I just caught a nasty flu and going into day #3 was not cheering me up. I looked on your site and my lights went back on. I did my 3 T. acv + 3T.honey and 1/2 t. cinnamon in 6 oz. water and within 2 hours felt like I just might shake this today. 4 hours later (now) I am feeling really much better and even the cough is almost gone.

[YEA]  ACV Works to Prevent Stomach Flu! Two weeks ago my four-year old contracted the stomach flu and one by one my other three children and wife fell victim to it. I thought ACV might help me stay well so twice a day I took two tablespoons of unpasteurized apple cider vinegar mixed with about 4 oz. of water and never got sick! Now, after finding your site I know for sure that it was the ACV that helped me. Next time we are exposed to a virus like this I will mix some honey with it to make it more palatable for my kids.

[YEA]  There has been a bad virus going around laying people up with diarrhea for two, three day straight. I got hit hard and fast last night. Couldn't sleep, of course, and found this site. Tried the ACV (two tablespoons in a coffee mug of warm water). Tossed and turned for twenty more minutes and then fell fast asleep and sleep good all night. Haven't had any since and today was Thanksgiving and I really over did it. So that is a testament to how well this works! Note: is very nasty going down the hatch, however. Great site, saved my holiday.

[YEA]  After 3 extremely painful days of carrying a stomach flu that has been going around the metro area I finally had enough energy to go on-line and look up natural remedies. I went to the doctor and she said to just ride out the storm. My upper abdomen is so sore and feels like acid is stuck in my small intestines. I found this website and made myself a 6 oz. cup of hot water with 2 tablespoons of AVC and 2 tablespoons of honey and literally within 5 minutes my stomach ache began to subside!! This is the most relief I have had in 3 days. Thank you everyone for your suggestions and just one more question: how many times of day should I continue to drink this? is too much a bad thing?

[YEA]  Since I can remember, I have had one or two bouts a year with sore throat and cold/flu that turns into bronchitis. An elderly gentleman who remembered taking acv mixed with honey as recommended by his doctor when he was a child told me try it for my ailments. It has worked like nothing before! Mixed 50/50 with honey in a shot glass(for sore throat), as a straight shot(this burns the tummy a little), or 2 tablespoons with a cup of warm water for respiratory/sinus problems. I have not been sick since I started taking ACV at the first sign of illness. My children have used it as well. They aren't real happy with the taste and smell but I am happy with the results! Hard for doctors to get rich recommending this home remedy!

[YEA]  My husband of 81 yrs recently was very sick with a bad cold (or flu?) and had a sore throat, and I (61 yrs old) felt I was also just catching it (just beginning to notice a scratchy throat, and have some congestion). We don't have any "extra" money, and I hate the idea of giving it all to the big pharmaceutical companies for the "privilege" of taking potentially toxic concoctions, so I'm always looking for cheap and natural ways to do things, and I looked online for cold remedies, and found EarthClinic. That first evening I read about Apple Cider Vinegar for flu/colds/congestion, and both my husband and I immediately started using it (1 Tablespoon in a glass of water, 3 times per day). It didn't taste wonderful, but wasn't TOO bad, and, after all, we were using it as "medicine"...and it did cure both my husband's and my sore throats (Mine within minutes, my husbands within 3 doses). The next day, while continuing the ACV 3/day, I also tried Jean's Tomato Tea because we were both still so congested. My husband usually likes slightly spice-hot foods, and I usually don't, but with the Tomato Tea he didn't like the "hot" sensation of the spiciness, and refused to drink any more after that first try---while I was instantly aware of it clearing my sinuses and soothing my throat, so I continued to use it over the next 3 days. It worked well for me as a decongestant, but my cold was still very much "there", and I began gaining weight (controlling my weight has been a life-long problem for me), so I stopped using the Tomato Tea, but continued the ACV 3/day. It has now been about a week, and my husband is completely healthy, and this morning I am feeling much better and much less congested.

On the second morning after my husband and I began using ACV, we both lost weight. He has continued with a loss each day, and has now lost 7 pounds in 7 days. I had lost 3 pounds, then gained part of it back while I was using Tomato Tea, but now I am slowly losing again, so long as I don't eat anything with sugar and/or processed wheat flour.

[YEA]  Thank you for your site.
My son had an awful flu that laid him off work for a week. I started to get the same symptons that he started with. I have used the H2O2 in my ears before and fortunately was able to stop it with that and bed rest for a day and also staying away from sugary foods. However, I am doing a pretty stressful job at the moment and finishing a Project at my volunteer organisation. This morning I woke up with my ears very sore and a sore throat. I used the H2O2 in my ears again a couple of times until the fizzing stopped which eased the soreness alot except for one spot in my right ear. I came to work and grabbed some immune boosters from the Health Shop but my throat was still sore. I found your site when I was looking up the info about H2O2 and colds and flu as I hadn't read it for a couple of years and I had been telling the owner of the Health Shop about it. I saw ACV mentioned in the testimonials about using H2O2 orally so had a look at the ACV testimonials as well.
I've just come Back from the supermarket with ACV and measured a couple of tablespoons [by eye] with a teaspoon of honey into a mug of warm water. The relief to my throat was almost instant and I'm really enjoying sipping on it. I'm even starting to pick up a bit of energy too. Thanks for reminding me about something so effective that I had used in the past and had forgot.
Best wishes and keep up the good work.

[YEA]  Apple cider vinegar cures the flu....When I had the flu growing up my Mother always had me drink a tea she made from 2 Tblsp ACV 2 Tblsp Honey and 6oz hot water. It would immediately stop vomitting and help with diarreah and also helped with a fever... The honey also relaxes stomach muscles and helps with your digestive track along with all the wonderfull things the ACV does.... As a child I didn't really appreciate the taste of this tea my Mother made, but as an adult it tastes pretty good. I swear by it now!!

[YEA]  Two days ago, I came down with a nasty flu, and had a fever of 102. Luckily, that's gone down considerably, but a lot of symptoms remain. I googled flu cures, and this site popped up. I actually found a bunch of remedies here that seemed plausible, but the sheer amount of positive feedback for apple cider vinegar really caught my eye. I had some already, and decided to try it out. This morning, I heated about 10 oz. of water, then added 1 tbsp of apple cider vinegar and a splash of lemon juice. I hated the taste, so for lunch I tried something different (new, not found here).

I heated about 8 oz of orange juice, then 2 tsp of acv. As an addition, and because I'd read about its benefits here, aw well, I added a couple of shakes of ground cinnamon (probably 1/2 tsp or so). I can't taste the vinegar, and I feel better already! Aches are easing, my stomach and intestines are settled, and I don't feel nearly as "bleh" as just half an hour ago. I'll keep it up for a couple of days, here's hoping it continues working! I'm thinking of trying oil pulling next if this keeps up, I'm definitely a believer now.

[YEA]  I have been drinking ACV in hot vegetable broth for a couple of years now, every time I feel virus-y or like I'm coming down with a virus. I usually feel it in my stomach first, and I get exhausted and lethargic, and sleepy. Food is the last thing on my mind! But for some reason, when I feel bad like this, I'll crave ACV in something hot and salty like broth. I usually heat up some water and add the vegetable cubes or broth mix, about 1-3 tbsp of ACV, a tbsp of lemon, and about 1-2 tbsp of fresh ginger (I get it pre-minced in a glass jar). I don't know what it is, but within a few minutes of drinking this, I always feel so much better. It's like my body is craving this concoction, and it's the only thing that will make it feel better. Of course, you should adjust the measurements of ACV, ginger, etc to what you think your body will need...I usually try it out while its heating to check it for potency. I would love to know if this has worked for anyone else!

Just reading this after a friend I visited told me of the stomach bug floating in her household today. I drove her to do some shopping, she shared my drinks bottle and within three hours I was feeling bad. Light-headedness, stomach pains, nausea. I read this thread and tried some pear cider vinegar that I make myself, with honey , ginger and hot water.

Within two swigs I was rushing for a bucket, brought up a litre of orange yuckies, and feel great!! This stuff is working alright and I thank you guys for your input, so here's mine too.

[YEA]  I have been using ACV now since relegiously reading article on your site almost a year now. My whole family recently came down with stomach flu and myself, and my son age 5 who loves vinegar drank a spoonfull of ACV every few hours and overcame the illness within 24 hours. I did not vomit. my son only vomited once, that was before he took the ACV then he made an instant recovery. My husband and daughter who refused to take it and thought I was mad suffered for days with crippling stomach pains and unable to keep any food down...

Thank god for your site wish I knew about it along time ago It could have saved me so much illness.

[YEA]  I read Dr. D.C. Jarvis's book about folk medicine around 1960 and began to give my children apple cider vinegar whenever they got the stomach flu. It always worked. I believe he was the one who said that the vinegar changed the ph balance in the intestinal tract so that the virus couldn't live and reproduce.

[YEA]  i've been decked by a really nasty flu for the last 3 days. After taking all the usual over the counter remedies for it to no avail, i decided to look on the net to see if there was any natural cure. Ran across this page on ACV, decided what the hell and tried it out. That was maybe about an hour ago and, no joke, i swear i'm starting to feel better already. I took two straight tablespoons and if my symptoms don't clear up i'll take another 2 tomorrow. Thanks for putting this up.

[YEA]  About four months ago, my boyfriend and I used ACV to fight against a bug that had been going around. We had been looking at ACV as a possible addition to our diet because of all its reported benefits, so we had a bottle in the cabinet already and thought we might as well give it a try. My boyfriend got a sore throat first, so we both decided to use ACV (diluted in hot water) to gargle and drinking a little bit (pure) for about three days straight. All of our friends went through weeks of a painful sore throat, coughing, and feeling terrible...but thanks to ACV, my boyfriend and I barely even felt sick for a day, and I have not had a cold since.

Also, one night I came home and I had a familiar feeling of feverishness, nauseousness and intestinal discomfort. I had felt the same way twice before when I had gotten the stomach flu, and I knew what was coming. I was shivering and miserable, but I felt like there was nothing that I could do to help myself and that I would just have to go through the hours and hours of sleeplessness, vomiting and exhaustion. My boyfriend went online and searched for a home cure for the stomach flu. ACV came up on Earthclinic, and I was willing to try it again because of how well it worked on my sore throat. I took two tablespoons directly. It wasn't hard at all, and I actually like the taste. Afterwards I experienced approximately 20 minutes of (very very mild) heartburn. About 10 minutes later, I started feeling better, and about 30-45 minutes later, I felt entirely fine. A little bit of the nauseousness returned the next night, but two more table spoons of ACV fixed that. A couple weeks later (I have bad luck) I got food poisoning from some korean food. Two tablespoons of ACV cured that too.

I'm convinced that ACV can cure a lot of things and really improve your health. I would drink it three times a day if I wasn't afraid of possible degenerative effects it might have on my teeth enamel.
