[YEA] 08/11/2009: Junglegirl from Haiku, Hawaii writes: "Shingles treatment: My mother used a high quality pure castor oil slathered on the worst spots. She applied it most heavily at night and wore old pajamas because it's messy, but it worked immediately for her. We found the remedy somewhere online, years ago, so I can't reference it. But it worked."

[QUESTION] 01/12/2009: Lynne from Sedona, Arizona, USA writes: "skin cancer of the lip: Has anyone ever heard of using Castor Oil Packs on skin cancer???"
Replies[YEA] 01/13/2009: Carolyn from Northwest, OH replies: "Yes, use castor oil on your lips! It was a major ingredient in lipsticks for years and years and is perfectly safe. As for it's effect on skin cancers, one case was specifically mentioned in the book, "The Oil that Heals" where a man had a tumor on his ear which disappeared after using castor oil topically daily. I always keep a bottle on hand and never ingest it--just use it topically."
08/08/2010: Matt from Springfield, Il replies: "I read somewhere Iodine tincture as a good remedy for skin cancers."
10/23/2010: Jules from Denver, Colorado, Usa replies: "I've used a bloodroot paste twice successfully on abnormal moles. I've also seen it used on animals and other people with success. The product I use is actually sold only to vets and it's made locally in Colorado. Bloodroot is fairly well studied and a web search will probably bring up several sources."

SPINAL ISSUES

[YEA] 12/09/2008: Shelley from St Jean sur Richilieu, Quebec, Canada writes: "I have suffered with Spine of Lenoir for 2 years now. A friend of mine told me to use caster oil a year ago. It sounded a little far fetched to me so I ignored her. Two weeks ago she brought it up again so I decided to give it a try. I massaged some in and used one of those foot massegers. I also used the hot packs. I was shocked that it worked. It is now a staple in my house. I am trying out other uses that I have read on here and other sites."
RepliesEC: Thanks, Shelley. Is there another translation for Spine of Lenoir? We can't find the condition on Google search, just the following on Wikipedia:
"If spelled Lenoir, Lenoire (sometimes LeNoir in the US) it is pronounced "Luh-nwar". It is French in origin and means "The Black"." Wikipedia
10/19/2010: Gem from Brisbane, Queensland Australia replies: "Reply to "Spine of Lenoir". Could it be - "pine de lenoir and plantar fasciitis?
It's a bone spur caused by an excessive tension on the attachment of the plantar fascia at the heel level. This tension can be related to a previous trauma to the ankle creating stiffness or by the shrinkage of the calf muscles. The spine may be painless or very painful. You will feel the pain in the morning following the first steps of the day. The plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of the skin layer tissues of the foot sole all the way to the heel and toe phalanx helping the foot muscles support the plantar arch."

Replies03/15/2011: D from Minneapolis, Mn replies: "I also used castor oil for my sons sprain, he could not put any pressure on the foot without it hurting badly. I put a castor oil wrap on it for the night and he woke up walking. It started hurting later in the day and I did the same thing and he never complained again. That all no tylonol or pain med, just castor oil on flannel with saran wrap to keep it on. I thought of this because I had tried it with my 5 yr old who had a hyperextended knee. She could not use it for a week so I finally tried a castor oil wrap. Left it on for 24hrs. And when I took it off she still wouldn't try use it, I bribed her with a trip to the store and within 20 min. She was walking. So I'm not sure if it was the castor oil or the trip to the store, up until then she would only crawl or scoot. "

STY REMEDY

[YEA] 09/26/2009: Bee from Mo, Usa writes: "I just wanted to share my success with using castor oil for stys. I frequently get little bumps around my eyes that look like whiteheads, had some particularly irritating ones just on the edge of the eyelid that rubbed the eye. Ouch! I tried the baby shampoo which got rid of most, but some stubborn ones remained so I tried castor oil. First of all it's very soothing and didn't bother my eyes like the shampoo, especially since it was unavoidable to get in the eye bc of location. I just used a qtip and smoothed it over both lash lines and around the eyelid and let it sit overnight. My stys cleared up around 24-48 hours. I kept at it a little longer, it feels nice and hopefully will prevent anymore."

SWOLLEN LYMPH NODES
Ratings:

[YEA] 05/06/2008: Moorea from Santa Fe, New Mexico writes: "I am so grateful for this site! Last night I woke with a swollen lymph the size of a tennis ball and was terrified. I'm 24 and have never had something like this happen before. But, did a google search and found your site and Castor Oil recommendation. It REALLY works! I placed castor oil on the area and placed a flannel rag over it and a heat pad. This morning my lymph was still slightly swollen, but after a bath of epson salts, baking soda, and apple cider vinegar as well as eating miso soup (a very alkalizing food) I feel 100% better. I had been sick with a cold for about two weeks and these remedies seemed to cure that as well. I think it is also important to note that these remedies work really well when you have a frame of mind that supports curing yourself, by re-focusing on the things that give you joy and the things that you love, can only help you be more grateful and less focused on the thoughts that created this illness to begin with. Thank you so much!"

[YEA] 01/11/2008: Bianang from Sarasota, FL writes: "I tried the ACV orally plus the ACV, H202 & epsom salt bath to help reduce my son's swollen lymph nodes. I did this for 5 days and it did seem to help soften it a bit but the most improvement I've noticed was after I massaged the swollen nodes with CASTOR OIL. After applying the castor oil, I applied a piece of cloth (should be flannel), then a plastic bag then a heating pad. I also applied did the CASTOR OIL PACKS in the stomach area. This is supposedly outlined in the Edgar Cayce's readings (he was a healing psychic). There was a significant reduction in swelling (flattening) within 2 days after I started with the castor oil. If you do an internet search on castor oil for swollen lymph nodes it will give you the detailed procedure."
Replies12/10/2010: Inno from Abuja, Nigeria replies: "What's ACV, does any one have an idea if Coconut Oil works on freckles?"
12/10/2010: Self from Ny replies: "ACV = apple cider vinegar (a very poular remedy for various ailments)
I used fresh squeezed lemon juice on mine when I was a child with success. Be careful of going in the sun when using the lemon juice remedy, the lemon juice skin can be more sensitive to the sun so protect it. Sun tends to create freckles in some too. Some have also used castor oil with success. I have not found coconut oil to be effective in removing freckles.

SYRINGOMAS

[YEA] 05/05/2011: Alicia from Orlando, Fl writes: "I have been struggling with syringomas (tiny, skin colored bumps/tumors) under my eyes for quite a few years ago. I have had them removed by a dermatologist, but they not only eventually came back, but are multiplying! I decided to try castor oil after reading about the good results some people on EC have achieved on skin tags, warts, etc. I've been using it for one week twice a day, and they are almost gone! I have also started applying it to my entire face before going to bed each night. Castor oil is amazing! I plan to try liver packs next for congestion."

12/15/2011: Miranda from Berne, Switzerland replies: "Could you please give some more information about how exactly you used it for syringomas? If you have any other remedies, please tell. I have been suffering from syringomas for more than 10 years and I don't know how to get rid of them. I put castor oil on them every night (for nearly 2 weeks) but to no avail so far... What am I doing wrong? Thanks for helping me..."

TOENAIL FUNGUS

[YEA] 08/02/2009: Patricia from Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands writes: "I noticed a question about using caster oil with nail fungus. I have a story you might find interesting. I had read about its anti-fungal action, and when I began to notice some nail damage, I began applying caster oil twice a day. As I was about to travel and I worried about getting more damage, I went to my podiatrist. He looked at my nail and said that he was sure it was a fungal infection but that he would take a sample for testing. When I returned a month later, he checked back on the test, and was shocked to note that there was no fungus there at all. He wanted to know if I were sure that I had damaged my nail --in other words, he began to look for another reason for the nail problem. There was no other problem and no fungus! caster oil works for nail fungus prevention and most likely treatment."

[YEA] 04/17/2008: Ann from Algonquin, IL writes: "I have successfully used castor oil to treat toenail fungus. My baby toenail was completely taken over by fungus. It had a black line running through it as well (another sign of fungus). I did this treatment twice per day until the nail grew out: First, I put two drops of vinegar on the nail. Then I placed a bit of cotton soaked in castor oil directly on the nail and kept it in place with a bandage. The nail is completely healthy. It's been almost two years since the treatment."

WARTS

[YEA] 08/21/2009: Elaine from Edmond, Oklahoma writes: "As a teenager I had five "seed" warts on my right middle finger. They drove me nuts for a about three years until my mother suggested I use castor oil. I would soak small pieces of of a cotton ball in the castor and then place it on the wart held on with surgical tape. After about three weeks of this all of my warts had disolved. There was no scar and the surrounding skin was not effected. I hear that castor oil is also good for longer, thicker eye lashes."
Replies09/14/2009: Anna from Joliet, Il replies: "IS CASTOR OIL REALLY GOOD FOR THICKENING EYELASHES? HOW DO YOU APPLY IT? PLEASE GIVE ME MORE INFO"
01/16/2010: Thelady from Port Of Spain, Trinidad replies: "Re: Castor Oil for eyelashes
Tried and true. i used an old mascara brush (cleansed properly) and i apply some castor oil to the brush. Right before bedtime i apply it like you would apply mascara from root to tip of lashes. Be consistent and it works. I saw a minor change/improvement in about 2 weeks and i kept doing it for more results."
[YEA] 12/18/2010: Becky From Ohio from Ashtabula, Ohio, Usa replies: "I had great success with castor oil and baking soda. I believe it is an old Edgar Cayce remedy? You add enough castor oil to baking soda so that it makes a thick paste (to where you can roll it into a little ball like gum) and put it on the wart. Cover with bandaid. It took me probably a month or so for it to work, but I was not religious about appplying it every day. Sometimes I would forget for a few days.About the last week (when I could see that it seemed to be dying) I got serious and applied it every day. I think if I had applied it around the clock (instead of just for 8 or 12 hours) it would have disappeared much quicker. I had had that wart for about 10 years (between my toes). I had tried just about everything- over the counter and a foot doctor. I thought that wart and I were going to grow old and die together! After 10 years I was so thrilled to finally be rid of it!"

WOUNDS

[YEA] 03/13/2008: Gita from Pune, India writes: "After reading about Edgar Cayce and castor oil I tried it on my mother's feet. She has been having a burning sensation on her feet which the doctor's medicine could not cure. I massaged her feet with castor oil and washed it off after half an hour. You can imagine my delight when she said the next morning that the burning was completely gone! I also told our maid to rub castor oil on a wound on her foot. She says it is better but since she went to the doctor after she started using the castor oil and the doc cleaned her wound with hydrogen peroxide I do not know to whom or what the credit should go."
Replies11/20/2011: Kathy from Brisbane, Qld Australia replies: "Have been using castor oil on serious wounds on horses for over 12 years, we are talking wounds where you can put your whole fist into, horses that vets have suggested be put down immediatly due to stripped tendons. We had one horse who staked herself on a metal star picket and since she was in a paddock of 1280 acres we hadn't seen her for a couple of days the wound was not able to be stitched. Vet recommended put the horse down. But as she was walking and eating and drinking normally we thought we would give it a go with the castor oil, we poured the castor oil into it and wrapped it up, making sure it was clean first. Put it on everyday for 5 days then every 2nd day for another week then every 3rd day without bandages for 2 weeks, it healed without a scar and the vet was amazed. Since then have used it for every wound with success everytime, keeps flies off too, but does go yucky for the first 3 days and you question your self every time, but it has never let me down yet and minimal scarring everytime. it heats up and the beautiful thing is that I don't have to touch the wound which makes it great when you have unhandled horses and cuts on their back legs, just pour it in the wound and get out of the way."

YEAST INFECTIONS

[YEA] 09/25/2008: Eleny from Graham, WA writes: "My son recently had a horrible yeast infection on his bottom. I did not notice it right away because it was right on the outside of his anus. The reason I did not notice it right away is because he had not been passing regular bowel movements and I had no need to wipe him there. I was giving him his bath and wiping him when I first noticed it. At first I thought it was feces but it would not come off and when I looked he had what looked like a horrible case of acne that was about to pop. Initially I thought it was a diaper rash but soon realized it was not. I took him to the doctors office the following morning and the doctor said that he had a yeast infection and prescribed some ointment. I was honest and told the doctor that I would not try the ointment until I tried a natural alternative first. I then went home and applied diluted Bragg's Organic ACV on a cotton square and wiped him and also put some H202 on another cotton square and applied that to the infected area. I then decided to use Castor oil because of the many health benefits it has when applied to the skin onto the yeast and I kid you not within a 24 hour period the infection was COMPLETELY gone! And believe it or not since I have used the Castor Oil on his bottom he has been passing bowel movements regularly. Check out this great article on the wonderful benefits of Castor Oil when applied to the skin
