06/08/2012: Ryan from Philadelphia, Pa: "I just found out today that my 8 year old cat Tilt may have mammory cancer. Tilt just had a tumor removed on Wednesday and unfortunately we found out today that it was malignant and it may have already spread to her lymphs(however, I haven't gotten all the info yet). The vet estimated roughly 21 months and already suggested a oncologist I could take her to start the chemo process. I'm not sure about the chemo though.
After my initial breakdown, I jumped online to seek some answers and options. ES Clear and Essiac were the two products I came across most frequently. I am encouraged by the hundreds of overwhemingly positive reviews I read, so I am ordering both. This is still very raw, so I apologize for this messy post. I will post the process. Thanks"Replies
06/18/2012: Julie from St. Louis, Missouri replies: "Hello, My cat, Einstein is a 14 year old diabetic. We have found out now he has cancer. Tumor on shoulder. Vet said pre-blood work, some kidney numbers were not good for surgery, so we didnt proceed. I am starting him off with Essiac Tea and raw diet........ Anything else that can help him?? Please let me know. He is eating good, but only way I can give him tea is with baby food along with raw diet food. Is there something I can give him to help with stomach upset?
Thanks you, Julie"
06/18/2012: Nh Gardener from Sanbornton, Nh replies: "To Julie from St. Louis re. Diabetic cat Einstein--Please give cat 1/2 to 1 tsp. Gently melted coconut oil in his food, along with 1 tsp. Diatomaceous earth (DE). Both are said to help diabetes for people and animals. DE absorbs and eliminates toxins from body. I'd also give him the Budwig flax oil/cottage cheese mix 2 X/day. Follow instructions on internet re. Mixing it. Best of luck."
06/18/2012: Nh Gardener from Sanbornton, Nh, Usa replies: "For Julie in St. Louis for cat Einstein--I forgot to mention in previous post that diatomaceous earth (DE) also helps stomach upset/nausea."
01/16/2012: Rachel from San Francisco, Ca: "Hello, Does anyone have any testimonials to whether the Essiac has worked in later stages of cancer that spread to lungs? I have had my dog on the tea for a week now but her breathing is very labored, heavy and shallow. Feel free to email me at suiteevents(at)gmail.com.
02/20/2012: Tc from Omaha, Usa replies: "I'm here looking for something to help my dog with cancer and I thought this article on the history of Essiac Tea was interesting and rather sad. Maybe people have mentioned this before. In any case, they do give the 4 herbs used in the tea as well as a link to a you tube video on how to make it. It might save people some money. Nothing I feel is worse than businesses taking advantage of desperate people wanting to help their beloved pets by making their product so expensive everyone needing it couldn't buy it.

03/13/2012: Shankari47 from Yelm, Wa, Usa replies: "I took my cat to the Vet about seven months ago and they removed a large mass. She had a very aggressive cancer. Unfortunately, it came back. I really cannot afford to slam down nearly a thousand dollars for another surgery or chemo which is more expensive. I began giving my cat the 8 herb Essaic tea remedy. After four months most of the cancer was liquefied, but as it began to drain I was worried about infection. I put a saline compress on the open area. One teaspoon salt and one cup of warm water. Now I have begun giving my cat turmeric milk. One sixteen teaspoon of turmeric with one fourth cup of milk or half and half and a sprinkle of black pepper (helps with absorption). She seems better today. The fluid pouch is down, but her appetite is still bad."
[YEA] 07/02/2010: Susan from Ontario, Canada: "Our cat, Jacob, was diagnosed with osteocarcoma (bone cancer) in 2000, and was given 3 months to live. We were told the cancer would metasticize and spread to his lungs very quickly, as this was the most aggressive kind of cancer. We started giving him Essiac tea, one teaspoonful in his wet food twice a day, and the cancer did not metasticize. Jacob in fact lived a happy life until November 2005, when he passed from cardiac arrest at age 15. I have always wanted to share this information, but until I found Earth Clinic, I was never sure how to get the message out there! This is an amazing resource tool - thank you for being there!"Replies
01/14/2011: Debbie from Nj, Basking Ridge replies: "Thank you so much for sharing about the tea. I have my cat on The capcules that I mix in a teaspoon of water and use a ear dropper to give it to him. I use catsclaw and astragalus alcohol-free a few drops each liquid estract and salmon oil. I was told he had bone cancer a month ago and I started him on this right away. If there is any advise I would love to know. Thank you"
01/16/2011: Rxbach from Youngstown, Ny replies: "I really feel for you. My husband and I had a three year old female with osteosarcoma. We lost Hedwig in September 2010, but she lived a decent life, and far longer, than we dared hope after we started giving her LDN (low-dose naltrexone). In addition to what you're already doing, it could very well help. Hedwig took .4 mg (a human top dose is 4.5 mg). We have another cat on LDN for pancreatitis -- extremely effective -- who takes .25 mg. )
There's an LDN for Pets list at Yahoo where you could ask questions about it, and you can also contact Skip (or one of his pharmacists) at Skip's Pharmacy (in Florida, but they mail RX's all over the place), who has a lot of experience compounding it for animals as well as people (it has to be compounded in specific doses). What it does is increase the body's endorphin levels so that the immune system is regulated -- and many, many diseases, including cancers have a dysfunctioning immune system component. (I take LDN successfully for Crohn's disease, and it works for a host of issues. ) I would urge you to check out Skip's (Google the name) and/or sign up for the LDN for Pets list. Chances are good your vet won't have heard about LDN, but he/she should (presumably) be willing to let you/your cat try it in the absence of better/other treatments. I wish you well."

Hello, you can buy essiac from www.mountainroseherbs.com. this is a very reputable herb place, I buy almost all my herbs from them."
[YEA] 12/31/2006: Gayle from Tulsa, OK: "Over 3 years ago, our cat, Flora, developed a mass (tumour) in her abdomen and lost a significant amount of weight. She was about 12 years old at the time. I started giving her a dropper of concentrated essiac tea once a day and mixing about 1/2 teaspoon of the powdered herbs in her food. The tumor went away and she put weight back on. She is now 15 years old and doesn't look or act like a 15 year old cat. I've continued to give her the dropper of concentrate at least once a week up to every other day. I've also given the powdered essiac herbs to our dog for allergy eye drainage that would easily get infected. Since we started the dog on this, her allergy eye problem has been gone for over a year now. Again, about 1/2 tsp once a day."Replies

01/20/2009: Beatrice from Raleigh, North Carolina replies: "Hello there. My name is Beatrice and I have a 14 year old cat named Papa. He is everything to me and just yesterday I was informed by by vet that he has a tumor the size of a small ball in his intestine area. I am devistated to say the least a have cried a river. My vet feels that hospice maybe my best direction because of Papa's age and the cost of surgery is high with no promises. I do feel hopeful however now that I have read these articles. Thank you Gayle from Tulsa and thank you Maria from Los Angeles! I am going to get Papa started on the essiac tea as well incorporating the other supplements mentioned. I hope to get back to you all with good news in a few weeks!! Thanks again for your all your help! -Papa's mommy....."
06/25/2010: Brenda from San Antonio, Texas replies: "this is not about essiac tea. it is about the tumors in animals. i have seen at least 6 animals get over cancer tumors by taking a weight loss product containg brown seaweed Undaria Pinnatifida, Laminaria Japonica, and Pomegranate seed oil. its called fuco somthing. the dose for small animals is 3 daily and for larger animals 4 a day. i was shocked that it worked so fast. 3 wks. at the most. sorry to say it does not seem to work as well on humans."
10/22/2011: Natalie from Sausalito, Ca replies: "I saw your comment about Fuco Thin for tumors in animals. You mentioned that you have seen 6 animals cured from this treatment. Were they cats or dogs or both? My cat has fibrosarcoma and I am interested in trying this treament. Has anyone else heard about this?"
03/05/2012: Catdogmom from Clovis, Nm replies: "YES PLEASE... Any more/new info on fucothin?????? Please share your experiences!!"
[YEA] 05/25/2006: Ran from Charlotte, NC: "I cooked brown rice, green beans and fresh white fish every day. All was low salt. He ate 6 very small meals instead of one as most dogs eat. I also added Milk Thistle and SAM-E200 from GNC. He took Urdosal (Spelling??) for the gallbladder. This was the only prescription he took. I kept a Scottie alive 10 months longer than the vet ever thought possible. He had liver cancer. His stomach stopped swelling after he ate when he was put on this diet. This lowered his pain. He was still interested in the girl dog next door just 1 day before he passed away. He died with dignity."
Essiac Tea, Diet
06/10/2012: Ryan from Oaklyn, Nj, United States: "After receiving the devastating news on Friday that our 8 year old rescue cat "Tilt" has lymphoma, my wife and I began researching our options. Chemo was immediately suggested by the vet, although we won't get the final numbers until we see the oncologist. Personally, I'm not too keen on putting Tilt through the agony of compromising her immune system. According to the vet Tilt has 2 years to live if we don't do anything, I would like to try the holistic route.
I ordered ES Clear(which is basically the same as Essiac) and did further research on Essiac Tea. On Saturday we began the process of changing Tilts diet. We went to a local, all natural pet store and one the managers gave us some helpful information. He suggested we switch Tilts diet from canned food to raw food. We bought a 3lb pack called Balance. Balance is raw chicken with vegetables in the shape of individual patties. Since cats are true carnivores, it is only natural for them to eat raw foods. Because Tilt is so used to crap canned food, we had to mix it with the raw chicken. As we go along we'll mix less and less. The pet health food manager also gave us HomeoPet Cleanz-Detox for the removal of unwanted toxins from organs. Since our vet just removed a tumor on Wednesday, we can't start the detox until Tilt is finished with the antibiotics.
Again, I'm not used to writing all this health jargon but I will continue posting Tilts progress. Hopefully it will help others."Replies
09/13/2012: Ryan from Oaklyn, Nj replies: "So it has been been 4 months since my last post. My wife and I decided to do a mix of homeopathy and tradtional treatments. The thought was to take out the intitial tumour and do chemo with the essiac(ES clear, now called life gold) to keep her balanced. We completely changed her diet to a low carb, non grain, all organic canned food and some freeze dried raw food.
Because it is mammory cancer, our vet gave Tilt a year with chemo. The vet was also concerned that the cancer would spread to the lymphs. Which it did.
We were told there would be a strong possibilty that Tilt would be lethargic, lose her appetite, vomit, lose weight and her immune system would be compromised. Since we started her on the essiaic, Tilt showed little signs of the chemo. As a matter of fact, the vets have commented on how good she looks. She did lose her whiskers. Her blood work is fine. She dropped a little weight intially, mostly because we were feeding her friskies before the switch, and the operation that removed the tumour. She has since gained back some weight. Her appetite is as strong as ever and she is zipping around the house full of energy.
Last week our vet had discovered that the cancer had spread to her lymphs. And they wanted to start another round of chemo. There are little crusty pimples on her body the vet could not explain. Also a little thickenining of her skin on her belly. The vet wanted to biospy the skin thickening to make sure the cancer hadn't spread there too.
But honestly, I thought all this poking around was getting to be too much. I want to stop the chemo and biopsies so we can fully concentrate building her immune system. My feeling is the ES clear has been working and if given the chance fully go to work, without the toxic chemo, she could have a chance to live longer than the projected year."
Essiac Tea, Flaxseed and Cottage Cheese
[YEA] 03/07/2009: Kathie from Mesa, AZ: "Cancer and Essiac Tea and FOCC (Flaxseed Oil and Cottage Cheese):
My boxer pit bull mix was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of his right shoulder last September. This is extremely metastastic and spreads to the lungs quickly, and in 95% of the cases, by the time of diagnosis it is already in the lungs. I initially did not amputate because he was 12-1/2 years and the vet said the prognosis was so poor. I immediately started him on 1 cup total a day of essiac tea (made by Resperin company, as research on internet said you should buy from the original company) and 1 cup total of cottage cheese a day mixed with 4 - 6 tbsp of fresh cold flaxseed oil a day, divided in 2 doses. He was still alive 5 months later which is almost impossible, but the bone tumor did not disappear and was causing him pain. I decided to amputate but docs wanted x-rays first to see if his lungs were full of cancer. There was NONE. He is a 3 legged, cancer free 13 year old happy dog today. The vets can't even explain it, and will not acknowledge it had anything to do with holistic treatments, only to say it is a fluke that it did not spread. They said he will at this point die of some other old age related dog disorder. :)"Replies
05/15/2009: Kathy from Fair Play, South Carolina replies: "I also have a golden retreiver 11 years old with osteosarcoma, I have her on essiac, 1/2 c per day plus 1 tbls wheat germ oil, beet juice powder, clorophyll, and sandthorn berry. All of the liquid is difficult to give to her, what did you do to give your dog essiac? thanks for your reply"
[NAY] 05/15/2010: Karrie from Los Angeles, Ca replies: "I wished this had worked for my Chihuahua with lung cancer. I had her on this for 3 months and had her chest xray again and was told the mass was twice the size when it was first diagnosed back in October."
06/25/2011: Debbie from Winchester, Hampshire, Uk replies: "Hi I found out about the essaic tea, flaxseed oil and cottage cheese mix for humans and nowI see it here for dogs. I have a 14-year-old cat with liver cancer. He's already on steroids, liver tablets and has diabetes. I have read about the toxic effect some drugs can have on humans and am suspicious about why the liver tumour appeared. However he's happy in himself and leads a happy life so I'm starting him on this mix as soon as I get the essaic tea. I wasn't keen on having the scan; they talk about internal bleeding and wanted to give chemotherapy. I told them that we weren't going to put him through that. Thanks for all the advice. Really appreciated. I never realised that I would become so attached to him. He's loved by all of us."
Essiac Tea, Supplements, Grinded Apricot Kernel
[YEA] 11/28/2008: Maria from Los Angeles, California: "About four months ago, my 14-year-old cat was diagnosed with mammary cancer. Although her prognosis was poor, I declined any conventional treatment, and instead chose to try the natural remedies from this wonderful web site. First, I started giving her Essiac 4-herb supplements: capsules mixed in with food (1/2 cap. 3x day) and the Essiac concentrate diluted with a bit of boiling water (3:1) to evaporate the alcohol level. Both were purchased at herbal-healer.com and I am infinitely grateful to Gayle from Tulsa for sharing this remedy with all of us. I administered the Essiac concentrate, approx. 1/2 to 1 eye dropper full, once per day. Within a week, I observed a significant improvement in my cat's overall health. She has gained weight, became more energetic and playful. The most exciting change I have noticed happened within the past 2 weeks: my cat's tumor began to shrink in size! It was the size of a walnut and now I can barely feel it. However, I should point out that Essiac is not the only supplement I gave to my kitty (although I feel it was the most influential). Some of the other things I started giving her daily are: fish oil, astragalus capsules, beta glucans, milk thistle capsules... all approx. 1 capsule/day in several feedings. I also give her about 1/2 of a grinded apricot kernel per day- it should be initiated with an even smaller amount to avoid toxicity, and then gradually increased...(please research this remedy for yourself and administer very carefully to avoid possible side effects!) I want to also mention the importance of changing your cat's diet to a low-carb, high protein type. Two of my cat's favorites are EVO and Wellness. Lastly, to help my kitty heal, I've switched her from tap water to spring water (to which I regularly add a few drops of liquid stabilized oxygen) and her cat litter is now also the less toxic kind, called Swheat Scoop. The amount of all these vitamins, supplements, and herbs may seem overwhelming to you at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's actually quite doable... especially when it's your beloved pet's life that we are talking about!"Replies
07/10/2009: Anon from UK replies: "DO NOT repeat DO NOT give cats alchohol in any form whatsoever if u do this they might appear to be getting better from the herbal remedie but they will also get irreversable painful liver damage which may not become apparent for many months instead u can get essaic tea in water or make ur own"
07/25/2009: Maria from Los Angeles, CA replies: "I'd like to post an update on my cat's progress. It has been 11 months since she's been diagnosed with mammary gland cancer and she is doing great based solely on my homeopathic therapy. Her tumor has decreased significantly and at some point I could barely feel it, though it is worth mentioning that there was a time when I regrettably had to pause her supplement treatment, and the lump became somewhat more pronounced. Nevertheless, the supplement regime was soon resumed and she is now once again an energetic, playful kitty. Based upon my observation of her reaction to various supplements, I adjusted her vitamin intake as follows:
She now takes, on a daily basis:
1. 1 capsule of Essiac 4-herb capsules mixed in with food (1/2 cap. 2xday). PLEASE NOTE ******I have stopped giving my cat the concentrated form of Essiac a while ago because despite the fact that I diluted the concentrate extensively, as Anon from UK pointed out, alcohol in any amount may cause liver damage and thus should not be given to animals****** Not to mention, she hated the fact that it had to be fed through the eyedropper, although the above-mentioned rationale still stands as far more critical.
2. Instead of fish oil, I now give her Shark Cartilage (also from herbalhealer.com - __ capsule per day, which I believe have done wonders since she was started on it (as far as vitality and energy level).
3. I continue to give her Astragalus capsules and Beta Glucans approx. 1 capsule/day in several feedings.
4. I've actually decreased the dosage of grinded apricot to a tiny __th kernel per day and I give it to her with intermittent breaks- approx once in every 2 days.
5. A few months ago I started her on ___ (crushed) Vit. D tablets (400 IU) once every 2 days, and she seems to respond well to it. I've researched its effects widely in theory and in practice, and so far feel that Vit.D has been beneficial.
6. She continues to eat a low-carb, high protein diet (Innova EVO dry food and Wellness canned food). Sometimes I feed her tiny amounts of home-cooked salmon and other fish just because she loves it, but I always make sure to add all of her supplements into it.
Last but not least, I want to emphasize the importance of researching the potential harmful effects of a vitamin or herb before administering it tp your pet!!! I mention this because I recently tried adding a tiny amount of Flax seed oil to the list above, but noticed an immediate negative reaction as in a radical drop in my cat's energy level, and so I discontinued it right away. If anyone has ideas or suggestions as to why this might have occurred, please do share. I am wondering whether flax should not be given to cats by and large, or more likely, whether some adverse interaction with other supplements that I am administering to her has taken place. I'll appreciate any comments in regards to this and will keep you posted on my kitty's healing process..."
EC: Thanks so much for the update, Maria.
Unfortunately our database does not read fractions and changed yours into funny characters. Could you please re-send the dosage amounts again by typing the measurements like this: 1/2, 1/4, 1/8. Thank you!
07/26/2009: Maria from Los Angeles, CA replies: "Sorry about that. The dosage amounts are as follows:
Essiac 4-herb -- 1/2 capsule 2 x day
Astragalus -- 1/2 capsule 2 x day
Beta Glucans -- 1/2 capsule 2 x day
Shark Cartilage -- 1/2 capsule 2 x day
Vit. D tablets (400 IU) -- 1/2 tablet every 2 days
Grinded apricot -- 1/4th of a kernel every 2 days"
EC: Thank you so much!
01/04/2012: Susan from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada replies: "Hi Maria, From what I understand, Flaxseed oil cannot be metabolized by cats. The only essential fatty acid should be fish based I.E. Alaskan Salmon Oil. This is what I feed to my cats. Hope this helps.

Hi, Alina, I feel very much for your kitty. Have you seen any unusual things in her eyes? Usually, the nervous system is affected as well as the immune system, and severely. Please, do not use Essiac capsules. Best is the herb that you brew according to instructions in the package. Then you can brew just half a package and have for a few days in the fridge, morning and evening.
This will address the toxic load, improve liver and other organ loads. The taste is pleasant and my dogs take it by syringe quite readily. Place the syringe just behind the canine tooth so it does not point directly down the gullet. The bump will most likely disappear. Give it three months or so. And never vaccinate again. OMG this is in my experience with many rescue animals next to commercial food, a killer. But be positive and also give probiotics for babies once a day on the tongue.
Vaccinations are very lucrative for the pharma industry. Except for distemper shot, Nothing! Especially the four way shots are killers. God has given the immune system for what? Good food, Love and a warm place in sunshine are free from the heart. Love, Om"

12/30/2013: Theresa from Mpls., Mn replies: "Hey Alina!
I am sorry to hear about fibrosarcoma in your senior kitty :(
As your vet likely informed you, surgery for this type of cancer involves removing large portions of the tissue surrounding the cancer, and the cancer is very likely to return after the surgery. If this were my 14 year old cat I would not put him through surgery, and would consider hospice care at home with the support of my vet to manage symptoms and pain. You need to decide what is right for your situation. I sent you an e-mail listing the holistic vets I was able to locate in your area; it would be a good idea to consult one, to see what your options are, to see what sort of treatment you feel is right to pursue.
Do read up on Earth Clinic's pages for home remedies for tumors:
Ted has sage advice:
Read up on the EC page on pet tumors:
Check out the section on Castor Oil - several EC contributors have used castor oil alone, or mixed with tumeric topically on tumors to shrink them; bleeding was controlled by applying cayenne pepper to the wound.
I'm sorry I cannot simply say *DO THIS*: you need to read the pages to see what resonates with you, taking stock of what remedies you may have on hand in your home or those you can access and aquire."
12/30/2013: Theresa from Mpls., Mn replies: "Hey Alina!
Ted is unable to respond at this time.
If this were my cat I do everything TED advised.
1. Alkalize your cat. Take a tablespoon of POTASSIUM citrate in his drinking water per liter of water. Add one tablespoon of potassium bicarbonate. Citrate and bicarbonate are necessary in 1:1 portions - you can buy them at most any health food or vitamin shop. Add a big pinch of sea salt.
2. Take about 1 teaspoon of a 5-10% fulvic acid solution [buy at health food store] to the 1 liter of water. Your cat will have some diarrhea on the first 1-2 days trying to expel the toxin, and he will be in much better shape.
3. ALWAYS USE DECHLORINATED water. If you cannot get distilled, pure water use the dechlor drops they sell in petshops, used for the aquarium fish tanks. Add about 10 drops per liter. The chlorinated water is one cause of cancer in pets.
4. Get castor oil (mix with some aloe vera oil to aid skin absorption) and apply thickly to the area of tumor. Apply this after taking a bath. Do this daily. Also apply castor oil around the neck areas of the cat. It will raise the cat's immune system. Once a month, you may apply some iodine in the tumor area also. It seems to help.
5. If your cat is old, which means over 10 years, old. Give the cat a cheap vitamin D2, at 20, 000 I.U. every other day for about a week or a month as you see fit. It will raise his immunity. If you feed it for a month, don't be surprise, that the cat will develop large muscles.
6. Try mixing his food with some FRESH olive leaves. Fresh olive leaves are anti-tumor.
7. Bloodroot - the powdered form mixed with pure water and made into a paste maybe good for the cat's tumor.
8. Turmeric - herbal or the kind you get from the grocery spice aisle, 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon mixed well into wet, canned cat food fed am and pm will help combat the cancer.
9. Essiac -brew the Essiac tea and administer as OM advised."

01/03/2014: Theresa from Mpls., Mn replies: "Hey Alina!
I feel your stress and am so sorry for your burden.
My feelings on your naturopath's recommendation: you are paying this professional for their advice. If you are not comfortable with their advice, discuss your concerns with your naturopath why you are not comfortable -and if you are still not satisfied, take your business elsewhere.
I cannot comment on the artemisin as I have no direct experience with it, however check out the links for more info about atremisinin - you may be able to contact a veterinarian who routinely uses this remedy and pose questions directly, and there is also a support forum for those are in your very same shoes:
This is an anti cat cancer regime that worked for one person's cat:
This is a modification for that approach for a cat in remission:
Neoplasene sounds like it is very promising and something to discuss with your naturopath if you have not done so already:
Bloodroot powder, turmeric, castol oil - or a poultice or paste of any of these combined: my feeling is yes, apply to the skin, but since you are working with a naturopath ask them also as they may be aware of contra indications with any remedies they may have prescribed.
Continuing to send healing prayers for your kitty."
01/18/2014: Alina from Ajax, canada replies: "Two days ago I finally met the holistic vet from Newmarket, Ontario.I am more confused than before. Here is the treatment :
a mix:traumeelamp, nux vomica homaccord1 amp, pulsatilla comp:64cad
21 Naltrexone 4mg capsule :86cad
Lypospheric Vit C:51cad
HMF POWDER(PROBIOTIC):39 cad
0.70 biopuncture and autosanguis :86 cad
and the visit :190 cad.Why the prices..maybe it will help choosing your vet.
Why I am confused, the vit c contains:corn. The naltrexone it will help the immune system but what about the tumor.I didn t ask the right questions becouse I thought he knows what is better.T he next visit in 3 weeks...but I don t feel I DID GOOD..THE TUMOUR SEEMS BIGGER.WhAT SHOULD I DO ?I did ask him about cannabis oil..he promised me he will look into it..I hope he will keep his word.Should I ask him about Artemisinin. It is complicated with this vets to tell them what to do and in the same time I am afraid he will not give me the best becouse he wants to sell stuff.Any opinion , any advises, please. The cat started vomiting in the morning ..the 2nd morning the same. I will still give him one more time , if he will vomit again ..I don t know.."
01/19/2014: Theresa from Mpls., Mn replies: "Hey Alina!
The tumor may appear bigger because time has passed and - if I am reading this right- you only began treatment 2 days ago. 2 days isn't a lot of time for a treatment to make a visual difference IMHO.
I know corn = bad in pet foods, but trace amounts of corn in a vitamin C tab prescribed by your holistic vet is not something I would sweat. Again, JMHO.
And heck yes, ask your vet about Artemisinin and anything else that crosses your mind; you are paying him for his educated and experienced opinion - get your money's worth.
And if your cat continues vomiting, call your vet. Your cat is his patient now, and you should keep him informed of any apparent side effects of the prescribed treatment. So tomorrow if your cat vomits again, get on the phone and tell the receptionist that you saw the doc three days ago and the cat has vomited three mornings in a row and that you would like to speak to the doctor because you are concerned. The doctor will call you, or relay messages through the receptionist. This is part and parcel of what you pay your vet for, and if you found a good vet [sounds like you did] then they will want to be kept updated on your cat in case they want to alter the therapy as prescribed.
Read about low dose Naltrexone here: http://www.lowdosenaltrexone.org/
The therapy prescribed by your vet sounds reasonable - again JMHO."
01/25/2014: Alina from Ajax, canada replies: "Thank you Theresa.I am still giving the treatment but is harder and harder to hide the powders in his food.Definitly he doesn t like it and his appetite is decreasing and I am worried about that.I am using again commercial food to hide the powders ..I hope I am not doing any harm with those (stella &chewys, Nature's variety Instinct, Orijen).I did read about Avemar, a product from Hungary (immunity4pets?). Did anyone use it? THANK YOU."
01/26/2014: Theresa from Mpls., Mn replies: "Hey Alina!
I think you are doing more good than harm by feeding the commercial caned foods that you are feeding. I've fed a few of my seniors canned Whiskas when I knew we were on a one way downward spiral; its not like the food was going to kill them at that point, and it did serve to get them to eat and keep quality of life there until the very end. So no preaching about feeding commercial foods for an ailing senior from this choir!
Some advice for Dee and senior beagle Maki may apply for your senior kitty; consider using a syringe to get honey/vinegar water or electrolyte solution laced with the turmeric into your kitty. Maybe delivering the powders in that fashion will allow your kitty to eat his food without the supplements that are making him turn up his nose."
02/03/2014: Alina from Ajax, canada replies: "Hi, here is an update: no visible improvment on my cat. I still have to improvise in order to feed him. He seems hungry but doesn't like the real food very much any more. I mix dry orijen with grilled chicken, liver ..weruva wet food...I contacted the holistic vet concern about the tumor being bigger and he recommended a diff clinic for I THERM therapy. I called the clinic and they couldn't tell me about good stories in their practice becouse the treatment is new in Canada. The cost:200 cad first time+ 3 meetings for treatment 550cad +taxes or 5 meetings=990+taxes.They don't guarantee anything....I am concerned because on I thermal site it is a cat with fibrosarcoma and in the end still needs surgery. I can not find testimonials.. just what is on their website and that it is not encouraging.Tomorow I booked a meeting with an oncologist. All the best to all of you."
Flaxseed Oil and Cottage Cheese
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 04/30/2008: Neil from Bourbonnais, IL: "I have read that 1 Tbsp. of Flaxseed Oil and 1/2 cup of Cottage Cheese 3 times a day for 10 weeks can help cure cancer in dogs. Has anyone else tried this remedy before?"Replies
05/04/2008: Samantha from Grosse Point, Michigan replies: "I had heard of this recipe (cottage cheese and flax seed oil) for cancer treatment. I think is made of one part flax seed oil and two parts cottage cheese. This is also known as the Budwig Diet/Protocol. Here is a link to a video that explains in detail how to prepare the mix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSoddptWL0s You can also do a search on the web. I hope this helps."
10/25/2011: Kerstin from Emeryville, Ca, Usa replies: "Yes the Budwig Protocol works! Check out my earlier post 10/24/11 My Great Dane was given 2 months max to live, that was 7-8 months ago! And he is doing GREAT!
[YEA] 12/29/2006: Diane from Burbank, CA: "Frankenscense helped slow cancer down. We were told our dog had 9 months to live, and to give her radiation treatments. I had heard of Frankenscense given internally for cancer, so we started her on capsules with a few drops of Frankenscense mixed with olive oil and skipped the radiation, since it would have stressed her out too much. That was 17 months ago, and she is still with us. The frankenscense is very high quality that can be taken internally, not the aromatherapy kind."Replies

07/25/2012: Claudia from Klamath Falls, Oregon: "I stumbled across your website while researching some remedies for cancerous conditions in dogs. My 13 year old Aussie mix just got diagnosed with a tumor or abcess of some sort in her abdomen. Her abdomen is very swollen and firm, and the vet extracted a protein-rich fluid from the abdomen. She also has very elevated temperature, WBC as well as amylace count. I don't want to put her through a surgery at this point, but thinking that if I can get her stable enough, surgery may be an option. I am just not ready to lose my little girl at this point! This all happened with 2 days! She also cannot raise her back end to stand unassisted. So I researched your site and found some options, that I ran by my wonderful vet. I will be giving these a try.
Thank you! Claudia"
Ginger and Lymphatic Leukemia
[YEA] 08/26/2013: Scott from Pen Argyl, Pa: "My dog contracted lymphatic leukemia. I went to the vet and she put him on a course of 4 rotating treatments with one week off for 4 months. He wasn't getting any better.
Right from the start I researched alternative cures to supplement his treatments but I'll get to those specifics later. I ran across information that ginger reactivates the mitochondria which shuts down in many forms of cancer. This controls the life cycle of the cell. When they're reactivated the infected cells that were supposed to have died off had they been healthy essentially commit suicide. This only affects the cancerous cells.
I was familiar with this from DiChloroAcetate, a generic drug now being researched at the University of Alberta with significant results on a variety of cancers. The problem with this was it's fatal to dogs.
I started grating ginger into his food twice a day, about an inch of fresh ginger at a time. Within 3 weeks he was clear of cancer. The vet was amazed. Previously she had not been into alternative treatments. Now she uses this and has included others that have been effective on this and other cancers.
Along the way I was giving him a variety of anti oxidants, mostly amino acids. Dylan never appeared sick. The only reason I found out were the lumps on this throat. Amino acids are the building blocks of the body so they helped keep him strong. The anti oxidants in them helped restrain the spread of the cancer.
The doctor said Dylan should have died 4 times and considered him a miracle dog. I credit the antioxidants for having kept him alive until I found the ginger.
Dylan's picture is now displayed prominantly on the wall of the veterinarians office and he's become something of a legend but he was always that way. He was a celebrity back when I lived in NYC. I couldn't walk him a block without someone asking about this big gorgeous giant schnauzer. Soon people were coming up to me asking if this was Dylan. He was known by name throughout the neighborhood by people who'd never met him. He was just a wonderful dog.
Unfortunately, I didn't keep him on the regimen. It seems theres often a reaction to chemo where after the cancer goes away it will come back later as a super cancer. It came on too fast and too strong.
The lesson is, even after you beat the cancer, keep treating it for at least several more months, particularly after chemotherapy."
[YEA] 07/19/2013: Brutus from Niagara Falls, Ontario: "I want to thank everybody for their helpful advice for Brutus.
I would like to share some vital information that I have stumbled upon in my search for answers. Brutus was neutered before he was 1 yr. old. When our animals are spayed and neutered they are stripped of their natural hormones that affect everything from bone marrow to bladder control. When humans have surgeries that diminish hormones, we are given necessary hormone treatments. Animals are not. All of the problems that Brutus is facing can be directly related to having no testosterone in his body for 12 years. Rimadyl is a hormone that stopped his pain but caused his incontinence. If Brutus was given testosterone at this stage he would be in extreme pain but the incontinence would stop. If you neuter your large, male dog when he's young, he will be over 50% more likely to develop osteosarcoma (deadly bone cancer) than male dogs that are not neutered! We put our animals through the torture of these operations because we've been convinced this is the best thing we can do for our beloved pets but these accepted, "standard" procedures strip them of the hormones they need. If you're thinking of getting your pet spayed or neutered, ask your vet about hormone treatments. I've never heard of any but maybe, if we're all aware, we will one day be able to change this barbaric treatment of our loved ones.
I would also like to let everybody know that since May 29, I have tried over 30 different supplements and remedies and I am finally seeing his cancerous forearm shrinking! Brutus now gets 1/4 tsp. Himalayan salt (unprocessed sea salt) in his water twice a day and a little sprinkle of it on 2 meals. His first salt water was given to him on Sun. July 14. His forearm looked like a baseball bat. It was huge, hard and no definition. Today, July 19, it has shrunk to less than half the size it was and you can see the definition again. I went to watercure2 that was referenced from earthclinic and I believe it's saving Brutus's life! It is also known to help arthritis and many other ailments. It's the least inexpensive thing and so easy! Brutus is walking better, his appetite is back and he's acting like himself again.
Thanks to earthclinic and all the caring people that tried to help Brutus."
