Molluscum Contagiosum Remedies

Updated: 05/14/2012

"Molluscum contagiosum is a relatively common viral infection of the skin that most often affects children. It results in firm bumps (papules) that are painless and usually disappear within a year without treatment. If the papules are scratched or injured, the infection can spread to surrounding skin.

Though common in children, molluscum may affect adults as well. In adults, molluscum contagiosum involving the genitals is considered a sexually transmitted disease (STD). The disorder may also be seen in adults with an altered immune system.

Molluscum contagiosum spreads through direct person-to-person contact and through contact with contaminated objects. Because it spreads easily, doctors often recommend medical treatment, especially for adults." The Mayo Clinic

05/13/2012: Marx from Manchester, Uk: "I applied ACV to MCs and got it out. But again they have appeared on my face this time. The one on shoulder, after applying acv, they died and left circular marks. Now this is gonna happen to my face as well. How can I remove these marks of dead MCs ? Please help."

[YEA]  05/14/2012: Beth from Atlanta, Ga replies: "My 4 year old daughter had 3 wart-like bumps- 2 in her armpit and 1 just under on her rib age. I took her to the dr to see what it was. It was diagnosed as Mollescum Contagiosum. He said it would take 9 months to over a year for it to go away. I read about ACV, we tried it... I used a makeup remover pad, cut a piece the size of her bump, dipped it in ACV and put on the bump. I covered it with a waterproof bandage (sticks on all 4 sides, keeps the ACV pad in place) overnight.

After 3 nights of treatment, the MC bumps were scabbed over, the ACV also damages the healthy skin around the MC so I was going to take a break from applying the ACV and 2 days later the scabs came off by themselves and the MC was completely gone! I am thrilled that it didn't take months to take care of this!"

04/14/2012: Jennifer from New York City, Ny: "Question: Two weeks ago I noticed two bumps on my left crotch. 1 week later, it became 10. I was panic so I went to the dermatolist... he froze the 8 bumps wihtout saying it would spread.

Two days later. 10 bumps became 40. It went to my vagina and left butt cheek.

Desperately searching the internet for cure, I decided to try Apple Cider Vinegar .. and keep a journal here for your all.

Day 1: Soaked cotton balls with ACV and sealed with waterproof tap. From 9pm till 12pm the next day. Areas show no bumps now surfaced 20 small white puz filled ones ( does that mean it is working? ). The others are just read and round.

Day 2: Saturday so I am spreading it with ACV all over my body, and tape all the enlarged areas the whole afternoon. Nothing changed - no black/brown- only white and red.

Question: does spreading ACV all over my body preventing the spreading of virus?

I don't know where I got it from. I went to the Korean Sauna a month ago. Went into the Jacuzzi - could it be where I got it?"

04/15/2012: Jennifer from New York City, Ny, Usa replies: "Sunday day 3: Last night I taped all over the buttcheek and crotch, the bumps are either

  • white with brown head;
  • Red and enlarged;
  • flat but more areas are red and irritated.

One benefit I found about about ACV is that it cured my eczema on the face - for two months I suffered from red, itchy eczema all over my face to the point that I could not sleep at night - waking up scratching and the skin was all shredding . I could not put any cream on as any single drop irritate it more. I look like a freak.

The dermetoligist did nothing. He suggested to do allegy test but it it be in another two weeks. Since Friday I started rinking ACV three times a day with diluted water - my face is all cleared up!!! No more itchy, it is healthy and beautiful skin. Yea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I decided to let my crotch and buttcheek airdry by taking a shower then stay naked for the whole afternoon. I want to see how it becomse. As most of the skin is now very irritated and I start to feel them. maybe too much stress from ACV for the good skin."

04/15/2012: Paul from Nw, Uk replies: "Ok I'm a 29 year old guy, so about 4 months ago during male grooming I noticed some bumps. Went to the docs who told me it was Molluscum and gave me cream, did nothing. Went to see another doctor who told me it was a heat rash, gave me cream, did nothing. Went to see a third who told me it was Genital Warts and gave me penicillin and told me to get myself to the GUM [doctor of genito-urinary medicine].

My G/F of 8 months who's been great about this came with me and we both got a full check up, no STIs but the GUM expert said it was MC.

Having seen this site I am giving the ACV (or just CV here in the UK) a try. My crotch is pretty sore after 3 days but things do seem to be changing. They're bigger, yellow and some of the larger ones have gotten a little black dot in the middle which is what people seem to be indicating meaning they're dying. I am showering twice daily and using teatree oil body wash on the areas infected too.

My skin is V sore though so might give it a rest for a day or so if I can't bare it anymore but trying to perservere. The 3 on my penis shaft are the worse and look awful but it's moving the right way I hope.

I have no idea where I got it from, neither me or my gf have played away and she hasn't even got it (luckily! So far) but before we went out I was a bit promiscuous (but always wore condoms) but I have contacted them all to advise them, none of them admitted having it (well you wouldn't would you! )

I will keep you updated."

04/16/2012: Jennifer from New York City, Ny, Usa replies: "Day 3: Monday. After last night's full sleep, I only spray ACV for 1. 5 hour as the adjacent skin is swallow and red. Feared of further damage to healthy skin, I took a shower and apply anti-biotics ( Neosporin) on affected area.

98% of the bumps are either a) red; b) scabbed over and disappeard; c) white head with red round bump. My crotch looks like a war zone. maybe I was able to catch all of them by spraying instead of taping, which realy damaged my skin.

Question: how long does the discoloration / damaged skin come back to normal?"

04/16/2012: Jennifer from New York City replies: "Day 3: Most of the Bumps ( 20 on the right buttcheek, 20 on the left buttcheek, 40 around crotch / vagina) are all turned brown head or scabbed over, except for three one staying white.

People said no need to keep applying ACV on those ones and it should fall off. My skin looks aweful now so I will stop doing ACV treatment tomorrow.. Will update

Question: does MC grow/ spread inside Vagina?"

04/24/2012: Jamie from Raleigh, Nc replies: "First of all, I'm sorry if you have this! I'm 22 and I had MC starting several months ago. It was just one large skin-colored bump on my pubic area and after it stayed there for several weeks to about a month I popped it like you would a pimple. Big mistake! I got the white core and it bled quite a lot. I had no idea what MC was until several more of these bumps showed up a bit later. Went to the doc because I was freaking out about an STD but she said it could be MC but it definitely wasn't an STD (even though it's caracterized as such above).

I read all about treatments and such and I went to a dermatologist who did nothing for me so I turned to the forums on this topic. ACV was the best option and I used the band aids with a soaked cotton ball on each one. It worked eventually but I was sloppy with how I applied the ACV and bandaids and I also couldn't resist the urge to pop some of them, which only makes it worse.

My advice is to:

1. Don't touch them! And if you do, wash your hands thoroughly.

2. Go to the store and get ACV, latex/vinyl gloves, cotton pads or gauze, Q tips, Neosporin, iodine, tea tree oil soap (Trader Joe's has this for cheap), and lastly bandaids. Don't skimp on the bandaids as I did. I recommend Nexcare waterproof bandaids - the adhesive is clear surrounding all the way around the pad.

3. Take a shower with tea tree oil soap, rub iodine with a Q tip all around the affected area(s), put the gloves on one or both hands (it's easier to apply the bandaids without a glove), cut small precise and correctly sized pieces of cotton that is smaller than the pad of the bandaids, and finally soak the cotton in ACV and carefully place it on the area and cover with the bandaid so that all of the ACV stays in.

4. Wash your hands thoroughly and leave them on for about 24 hours.

5. The next day, remove the bandaids and take a shower with tea tree oil. The MC should look white or black in the middle of each bump. Black means the virus is dead, and white is at least a sign of progress.

Continue monitoring the bumps, you can put some neosporin on them to help heal and reduce scarring, or continually dab them with ACV. I would use the tea tree oil for a while until you're sure there are no more bumps. ACV baths also may help. I don't recommend popping them because it's pretty risky and you could spread it.

Damaged skin may be a problem. I have scarring from most of the bumps I had so try to be very careful with applying the ACV cotton pieces and bandaids.

Good luck!"

04/28/2012: Jennifer from New York replies: "I am happy to report that after two weeks of painful treatment and a little bit of doc's help, no new ones are in sight anymore.

Don't abuse the ACV treatment - I burned my skin so bad that the skin fell off and bleed. fortunately I am a healthy person so one day later the wound healed and two days later the skin came back - with white bumps inside.

The doc squeezed it out, without nitrogen as I requested.. it is looking good now.

However, I am still scared of the virus might be still there so every other day I wrapped myself with ACV or spray my whole body with ACV before shower.

The thing is, it is not sexual transmitted disease - I seriously believe that I got it from the Jazzuzi/sauna/gym. Just so from now on I will never use towels provided by hotels/vendors."

05/09/2012: Kris from Houston, Tx replies: "When my son was 3 years old, he had 6 of these MC bumps show up on his stomach. I took him to the doctor who diagnosed it as molluscum and said it will just run it's course and should be gone within 3 - 6 months. Well, 6 months later they had multiplied to over 200 all over his stomach, legs, arms, face... Everywhere. The only options the doctor gave me were to burn them off or apply a cream. I opted to do neither, and went home and started searching for natural remedies. I tried the apple cider vinegar for a short while, but he had eczema in addition to the mc and the Apple Cider Vinegar just made it more painful.

My aunt, who works at a health food store, recommended elderberry. I bought [an immunity booster] which is made from elderberry and gave him 1 tablet a day for 2 months. Within 2 weeks, you could see those disgusting little bumps start drying out. Within a month, they had all disappeared, but I continued giving him an additional months dose just to make sure the virus was eradicated. It's been 3 years now and he hasn't had anymore show up."

05/12/2012: Jennifer from New York City replies: "Just some updates: after 6 weeks treating with ACV and Tea Tree Oil, Molluscum are pretty much gone from my crotch, legs , arms, and chest. They really spread all over my body but the doctor said that those bumps on my arms, chest and waists are only allergy to molluscum.

it now spread to my face - eyelids and chin and forehead. small white pops up and I applied ACV a couple of nights every day and they were gone.

However, new ones today on my neck. Use ACV now to cover them up for 3 hours. I don't want to burn them.

The point is, Molluscum spreads all over the body - fast!!! The only way to kill them is to use ACV as soon as you spot them.

and now it is itchy like hell... Even though they are invisible. I could not sleep because overnight I would scratch myself waking up to wash my face with Tea Tree Oil ( that stops the itchness). And during the day I use ACV to clean up my face.. Of course, the skin peels for 3 days.. hopefully I killed thoes bastards by doing so.. still itchy like hell!!!!!!"

[YEA]  04/02/2012: Carina from Cochranville, Pennsylvania: "My daughter had molluscum bumps on her knee and elbow. Each site had only about 10 bumps, but at 7 years old she was uncomfortable with how they looked and didn't like her friends asking what they were. I asked the pediatrician about them and she said it was mollescum and that it was a virus that just had to run its course, sometimes getting much worse than better.

I turned to EarthClinic, as I do for everything(! ), and once again ACV seemed to be the trick. We put it on by dabbing with a cotton ball about 3 times a week and within a month they were gone. I think with an even more regular treatment they would have been gone even faster! Love love love what ACV has done for us!!"

02/07/2012: Helpseeker from Psl, Fl: "I just wanted to say, "thank you all for commenting". I have had two of these for two years and finally got up the courage to ask my gynecologist for help. He says he can treat them, but that they may come back. I am married, and while my husband is completely understanding, the body image issues that I have had to work through have prevented me from being close to him. I am going forward with the ACV prior to my appointment in 4 weeks. I have never commented on anything before this, but am truly grateful for the advice and support as I no longer feel alone and abnormal. May we all find relief."

03/09/2012: Huyy2 from San Diego, Ca replies: "Hi, I have has MC for 4 months, and tried aldara and zymaderm. These don't work in the short term, although they may work in the long term. The best thing to do is to do an intensive treatment of AVC for about a week or so. To Buy: rubbing alcohol 91%, needles, medical tape, and medical pads to soak the ACV. You want to soak your needle and fingers in the rubbing alcahol and pop all the bumps. Then you need to soak some pads in ACV and tape them down to your skin. If in the pub region, lay on your bed flat for a few hours. Then shower and apply some baby powder if desired. Then repeat every day for a weekish. You see them start to turn white or black. After all of them turned black. You can stop and apply anitbacterial ointment. If you see any individudal bumps ride. Repeat the popping, and just soak a cotton ball in Apple Cider Vinegar and tape it on teh bump, u dont want it to spread again.

This is the fastest way to treat MC, aldara makes your immune system react to the area where you apply the cream, so may work in the long term, but may take months or years, and they just keep spreading."

03/09/2012: Elizabeth from Orlando, Fl replies: "Helpseeker, you may have already gone to the doctor, but if not, ask him if he can treat the bumps with TCA (tricholoroacetic acid). I noticed that I had about 6 bumps on my thigh area last year and when I went to the doctor, that's what she used and it worked for most of them; the bumps scabbed over and disappeared in less than a week, I believe. I think there were 2 that remained, whether because she didn't see them or because they resisted the TCA, I don't know. But anyway, for these remaining bumps I used the ACV-soaked cotton ball method for about 24 hours, give or take, until the bumps looked white and the core was somewhat visible. I then sterilized a needle with rubbing alcohol, wiped the skin with Betadine, and popped the bumps making SURE to remove the cores. I then wiped the skin with Betadine again and taped on another ACV-soaked cotton ball, making sure to sterilize/wash any area that the virus may have come in contact with (I even wore latex gloves during the process). I am pretty sure I did not leave the cotton ball on for very long this second time, maybe a few hours, before taking it off and letting the area air out. The area healed within a few days for me. I had one random bump pop up several months later and took care of it the same way (not even bothering to go to the doctor). So, in short, ACV worked very well for me even though I was a skeptic. Best of luck."

11/29/2011: Molluscum Hell from Davis, Ca: "I had molluscum contagiosum for about 6 years on my penis and pubic are and thought it had left. I contracted it I believe from my daughter who had it for about 4 months on her arm pit from sharing a towel with her. She had it only on her arm and it was gone in no time from doing nothing. At the time I had no idea how contagious it was. I went to the doctors office and had it frozen off so many times that I lost count at least every other week I would go. The pain is nothing anymore. I have only one scar just a white spot but you can't really see it. It would go away for a few weeks or months it would seem and then its back. It has really been hell. It has now been gone for about 2 years so I thought. I had two spots that the doctor said lets keep an eye on. Then recently it seemed to come back or I got it again. I can't believe this bleeping thing. I'm about ready to cut off all my skin I am going crazy. I don't have Aids or any health conditions and I'm perfectly healthy. I don't know why I have had it so long. Recently I have had it now again for 3 months. I went to the doctor once and said forget it never again. I recently purchased Dr. Scholl's Wart remover to do it myself. I have shaved the area not with a razor but an electric one with a guard to remove as much hair as possible as not to spread it. I get about 8 to 10 hour sleep a day. Eat healthy lots of fruits and vegetables and even juice 4 carrots 1 apple 1 cucumber and 2 stocks of celery a day. I eat only home cooked meals with lots of veggies and no fast food or soda. I have always eaten like this anyways. I'm in very good shape athletic and healthy.

Recently now I have tried the ACV because with freezing them off as soon as I see a new one another would pop up. It started with 3 then soon I was at 30 all below and OMG it looks horrible. On top of freezing them I have used the ACV soaking paper towel in it then applying it to the entire area. It would actually burn my nut sack but I forced my way through it and ignored the pain. After leaving it on for an hour I removed it and had a couple black spots. I did it again and again for an hour to 3 hours for three nights in a row. Each time it got more sensitive to the point all my skin is super dry. Before and after each time I shower and use a separate towel to not spread it. Then I always put baby powder on when I am done. After doing all the research possible I think creating an internment it won't want to live in is the way to remove it. Baby powder to keep the area dry all day and then ACV for an hour or two to kill the virus and dry my skin. At this point its been two week with not a new one showing up. Im keeping my fingers crossed this time that it wont come back. I will update you all on my progress.

So in short. Eat healthy and use paper towel soaked in vinegar to cover the whole area and then baby powder to keep it dry. Use fresh new towels each time and change underwear at least twice a day and I shower at least 2 to three times a day. WHen I had it over 6 years before it wa snot that bad just 3 to 6 at a time I freeze them off and then gone for awhile. But this time its exploded and I'm going nuts so I'm doing much more than ever before to try and beat this thing. Pray you don't get it. Its so hard being a single guy to have to say no to a hot girl that wants to be sexual. My sex life has been hell. I have a wonderful girlfriend now that I did tell about this problem and she is very supportive. It so hard that I can't even get to close to her out of fear of giving it to her. I really hope that ACV, baby powder and keeping super clean and not spreading it will finally kill this mother trucker!"

[YEA]  01/08/2012: Grateful Father from Melbourne, Australia replies: "I can't thank you all enough. Our two year old was diagnosed with mc when she had maybe 5 spots. Stupid doctor prescribed some cream and we were told it would go eventually but that there was really nothing we could do but wait. Chemist sold us some drinking concoction for another $160. Two months later our daughter had maybe 30 spots and they were really starting to spread and multiply faster. They were spreading from chest to tummy, arms and leg. Then we hit the Internet and found Apple Cider Vinegar and Dr Wheatgrass cream. Within 30 minutes we had bought both. And I can't begin to explain how happy we are now just a week after the purchases. We used the Apple Cider Vinegar on the body spots and within 2 days they were scabbing over. We soaked a make up pad in the Apple Cider Vinegar and secured it with macuracrome. You will need to check the spelling. It is white medical tape that can be removed easily. Less painful than bandaids. We applied the Acv in this way each morning and night, leaving it on the white spots all day and night. We sometimes gave the scabbed over spots a dab of Apple Cider Vinegar if they didn't look like they were damaged enough. One week on the scabs are starting to drop off but we still need to see if the spots have actually gone. New little ones pop up every day or so and we immediately hit them with Apple Cider Vinegar for a day or two. These were obviously on the way up before we began treatment. As for the Dr Wheatgrass, we bought the most powerful and and after a week it does not seem to have done much. In fairness the company claims it takes a few weeks to work but we have now started with Apple Cider Vinegar on the arm spots and stopped the Dr W cream because Apple Cider Vinegar works and works fast. So we figures it is silly to let the other spots linger. We also want this to be over for our daughter. The vinegar does sting on raw spots but we always have a wet facewasher to immediately remove the Acv when it causes pain on an individual spot. I think our daughter actually looks forward to her treatments because she can see it working. There is a difference in 12 hours. I would not have believed it unless I had seen it. How can vinegar fix something in a week that our idiot doctor allowed to spread and told us it would last for months. She should be ashamed for allowing a child to slowly be covered in spots when she must surely have been aware of this amazing and simple cure. Our daughter was excited the spots were going red, then a scab the next day, then the scabs getting ready to fall off. She put up with a little discomfort because she could see it working. Please try Apple Cider Vinegar if your children have this disgusting virus. Don't hesitate because the spots will multiply and you will regret it."
[YEA]  01/16/2012: Derek from Anywhere, Oregon, Usa replies: "ACV is the way to go!! I contracted MC from a sexual partner and was terrified, enraged and devastated. After reading MANY different websites, I found the ACV definitely works - but there's a lot more to your war on MC. Read about my experience and maybe it will help you.

Many will tell you that a visit to the derm is a waste of money, but I set up the appointment once I discovered what I had. Of course, the app't wasn't for THREE MONTHS, so I waged war on these little bastards in the inerim.

My topical & internal battle against MC:

For reference, I'm a 45-year old male in fairly good health. These first appeared on my stomach, at my belt-line in October 2011. Three weeks after ignoring them (I was on vacation and had no idea what they were), my doctor prescribed Podofilox (sp?), which burned the skin around the pox (as I was warned it would do) and was much more damaging and took longer to work than ACV. Plus it was crazy expensive at $58/teeny bottle. They did appear to "die", but I'm still treating the affected areas with Vitamin E oil weeks later, as they're quite red and the size of a nickel.

So I began treating them with Tea Tree Oil twice a day, with a cotton ball. Be careful, though - this stuff will also burn your skin, and some people don't like the smell but I don't mind it. Don't leave it on for prolonged periods, just dab a bit and give it some time to soak in.

Then, I cut a few myself with either a razor or a needle. It's best to "pop" them, I found out later. Tweezers help a lot. Be sure to disinfect the tweezers and the area before and after, as the core/goo in the middle does contain "seeds" that will spread more of these. Popping is a matter of choice; you risk infection and spreading the pox.

You can get the "core" to rise up and show it's pimply head either with a 10-minute hot shower, or soaking a cotton ball in ACV and applying with a band-aid for at least 12 hours. That's when you pop it. After popping, treat with Neosporin (or other option if you're allergic) and bandage. Then apply pure Vitamin E oil (or pure Aloe) regularly.

You know they're dead when they scab, turn black, or disappear.

As mentioned, these started out as six on my stomach, but three spread to my leg, four to my trunk & belly button, three to the base of my penis and one final horrific day when a pimple appeared on the head of my penis. Life was NOT good.

I work from home, and mid-day every day would give myself a "treatment": Soak gauze pads in ACV, and cover the bumps on my body, including wrapping my entire penis, and lying in bed for about 40 minutes while the ACV did its thing. I did the same thing before bed. Some report that the ACV burns sensitive skin but I didn't have that issue. And here's a funny image for you, but I was doing everything I could think of: at night I would put my entire penis in a sock to keep it from touching any other part of me (cock in a sock). I would also treat my entire groin area, butt and back in baby powder to keep it dry, and slept naked.

Change your bedding regularly! Use a different towel & washcloth each time! Wash your hands often, especially after treating yourself!

I finally had my derm appointment and he dug out three of them - including two on my trunk and the one on my penis (yes, it was awful) and they're healing well.

Now - for the internal treatment - VERY IMPORTANT:

As you have probably read, these things thrive in a weakened immune system. So, I became Mr. Healthy Guy. I quit coffee & alcohol, ate foods high in Lysine (low-fat yogurt, milk, cheese, broccoli, etc. ), and began walking regularly. I drank ACV cocktails (a shot glass of ACV, fill with juice and soda water to taste in a pint glass). The initial flavor is a bit sour, but I personally got used to it and found that I actually liked it. I drank this mixture 2-3 times a day, over the period of an hour or two each time. I took many supplements: Emergen-C, L-Lysine, Vitamin B & D, Zinc, Thuja, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Saw Palmetto and Whole Lifecycle Activated Mushrooms. The latter are like Ninja Warriors fighting for your immune system. It's expensive - $33 a bottle, but for me, worth every penny. I also drank lots of Yogi "Skin Detox" tea.

I can't really report that any one thing was the fix here, but a combination of the supplements and change in lifestyle were all to play in my success. It has only been about a week but no new ones and I feel positive about it. Also - I feel great! Detoxing is so healthy and I think my skin has responded like a trooper.

I hope these details weren't entirely sordid and mostly helpful :) Try to not get depressed (I went through some real panic attacks); there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Good Luck to you in fighting this horrible, embarrasing and enraging virus."

01/26/2012: Jill from Broome, Australia replies: "My 7 year old was diagnosed about 12 months with MC by our local doctor. Yep the same story as most of you, he said leave them alone they will go away within a few months, not very contagious. The couple that started on her arm have now turned into about 100 all over her arms, top of her legs and on her tummy. So happy I found this website and started on the ACV. Been applying it for about a week now, they haven't disappeared but are going red and some have a scab on them so we are hopeful that before school starts they may be On the way out. I dab on the ACV with a cotton wool ball then wrap her arms, legs and tummy with cling wrap then tape it with medical tape. This is more practical than band aides as she has so many. I do this at night and leave the cling wrap on for about and hour or so, any longer and it gets to hot and sweaty for her as currently wet season here very hot, humid and wet perfect conditions for MC and is quite common here with the kids. Once again thanks for all the great info and tips on this site!"
02/05/2012: Dale from Springfield, Va replies: "My MC first appeared on my pubic area and spread to my scrotum and the top of the penis. Two different doctors diagnosed it as folliculitis. Treated for 2 months with no results and it started spreading. After researching this I concluded it was not folliculitis but MC. I started the ACV treatment two days ago. Most show no change but a few have turned black. Sounds like that is a good sign. I also purchased ____ and am going to give it a shot also. ACV at night and Z_____ during the day. I'll provide updates as they happen."
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  02/07/2012: Dale from Springfield, Va replies: "Have now been using ACV for three days. Several of the bumps black/dark red and look like scabs. I hope that is good news. I have been either taping cotton balls soaked in ACV over the afflicted areas or using small bandages with a little bit of cotton underneath them on the spots. While not all spots have shown signs of improvement most look different.

I have also been using Zymaderm in the morning since I don't want to smell like vinegar at work. Not sure if the Zymaderm is doing anything but the label says it may take 4 weeks for the Zymaderm to work. Also the Zymaderm smells like dry cleaning solution. I have found that if you put it on and then let it dry the smell decreases significantly, but it takes a while to dry."

[YEA]  02/12/2012: Dale from Springfield, Va replies: "How now been using ACV for a week. It works GREAT. I usually see results after keeping it all night. The bumps will either

1. turn white, enlarge, and then turn into a dark red scab,

2. Get a black dot in the middle of them and then start to subside, or appear to open up and then scab over. I have gone from probably 30-50 bumps to 15 to 20 in a week. Some of these are new ones just like others have said. I've been hitting hard as soon as I see them. I'm also using Zym----x once or twice a day. Not sure if it is doing any good but it's easier to apply then the ACV. I also soak in the tube with a cup of ACV every morning. I think this is also helping."

02/29/2012: Jr from Peninsula, California, United States replies: "Please you guys that are calling this an std/sti IT IS NOT! Please do your homework not trying to be mean. It is a poxvirus, no matter which way you have become infected. I went to a profession facility to confirm this & even wikipedia defines it as a poxvirus. I'm not sure how I contracted molluscum contagiosum(mcv) because there are so many ways. I started to notice bumps around december 2011. I thought that they were razor bumps(ALWAYS GO TO THE DOCTOR THE MOMENT YOU NOTICE ANYTHING YOU'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE ON YOUR BODY) , big mistake. Over time the bumps began spreading from my crotch region all the way to the sides of my male genitalia. I would say in total I have 30 to 40 bumps from 3-10 bumps right now. If I had applied apple cider vinegar(acv) to cure mcv it probably would have went away by now.

For me ACV has only gotten rid of maybe about 5-7 bumps. In other words it helped but it didn't cure this condition. Its true the 5-7 bumps went white or scab after the Apple Cider Vinegar then I put hydrogen peroxide(hp) on the open bumps that went away but I'm hoping that the hp bubbles didnt make the mcv multiply. I used bandaids but since some of the mcv couldn't be completely covered by bandaids I used some gauze pads. If you don't ring the gauze enough it BURNS the sensitive areas. I had seen someone say they used makeup pads. You can get 60-80 pack at any big grocery chain for around $2-3. So I would soak 5-6 pads in Apple Cider Vinegar and cover all of the crotch mcv. I feared it might burn on the genital area so I just cover it manually. Starting March 1st, I will try to use soaked pads overnight to see if it will start to make a difference.

I wanted to know for the people that have gotten rid of mcv with Apple Cider Vinegar alone, what supplies specifically did you use & how long did it take? I'm trying to get rid of these bumps with acv(the most natural way I could think of) without popping them & risking spreading them over again. Please help.

Below are sanitary tips for mcv:

1- Try not to re-use or share towels

2 - Strongly advise not to swim or engage in aquatic activities for that can possibly spread them, if you must soak in a shared bath, I STRONGLY recommend washing the tub before the next person uses it to prevent it from spreading to them.

3 - Do not engage in any sexual activities if its around your crotch area.

4 - Wash clothes in strong germ fighting solvent to prevent spreading.

5 - Wash hands/take showers after working out or vigorous activities or if you ever touch or open mcv bumps."

11/18/2011: Worriedmom from Las Vegas, Nv: "My 7 year old has been diagnosed with Molluscum on his neck. The dermatologist without fully informing me on what this virus was etc... Immediately gave him a CPS (beetlejuice) treatment that blistered badly scabbed and now new bumps/warts have appeared. I took him back in yesterday and was informed to do another treatment. I declined so they gave me a Curad Mediplast bandage to put on.

What are your thoughts regarding Apple Cider Vinegar that I am reading about? How do you apply? How bad will it scar? It is in such a obvious place being on his neck and I am just sooo confused please help!"

[YEA]  11/19/2011: Happy Girl from New Brunswick, Nj replies: "IT WORKS!!! I'm 20 years old and I've had molloscum for about 6 months now. I've never been really bothered by it, but I met someone really special about 3 months ago. In order to further my relationship with him without having to tell him about my molloscum, I NEED to get rid of it. My doctor prescribed me Zyclara, which cost me over $300 and after 2 separate treatments it did not work. I've recently been prescribed Veregen, which would have also cost me $300 but I decided to try Apple Cider Vinegar instead. I first applied it on Wednesday night. I poured it onto a gauze pad and taped it onto the bumps on my thighs and genital area. I kept it on for a couple of hours then took it off and showered. The next night, I dipped a q-tip in ACV and rubbed it on each individual bump before taping the ACV soaked gauze pad on. I kept the gauze pad on all night while I slept. In the morning, I checked my progress and every single bump is white and two are completely black and scabbed! I'm going to continue the ACV treatment. IT REALLY WORKS!!! After months and months of worrying and wasting money, I've finally found a cure! Thank you for this thread! :)"
11/21/2011: Worriedmom from Las Vegas, Nv replies: "Thank you so much. Sorry for tardy reply, just have been away.

So after drilling the GP and Dermatologist.. They only came up with the Curad Mediplast bandage and said best to do the CPS(beetlejuice) treatment. Not wanting my son to suffer at school with unsightly blisters protruding from his neck... I tried the ACV by first soaking a q-tip and dabbing on each bump. I then covered in a ACV soaked non-stick bandage and put on neck then held down with a muslim wrap found in my first aid kit. He said it stung but slept with it on. Next morning the bandage was dry(?) I removed and notice some of the bumps scabbed but still a few bumps.... With an added few(?! ). I put some presciption 2.5 hydrocortisone cream and vaseline on it. My son complained of smell the next night but I put it on anyway. Not being sure of what I was really doing, I put it on all over side of neck again, even scabbed areas I think. Hard to not get them when there are bad bumps mixed with good! He could only stand about an hour and remembering the person in this board that mentioned "cruel to a child" I took off and dabbed with more ACV, then covered with non-stick pad and wrapped with self adhering tape. Today he has a light scab over all of the bumps! I put the hydrocortisone cream on this morning with vaseline over it... Looking at it this evening, it still looks scabbed over!

Now I wonder do I treat again or just cream it? Will dab ACV on with cotton swabs and cover with non-stick one more time I think?! This is honestly working pretty quickly for us. It is so much easier on the eye. Better to look like a light dried scab/scatches than the gorey mess that I was seeing from the beetlejuice!"

It cleared them completely after about 1 month - painlessly - they just appeared to shrink away - I highly recommend this product. I also use it for my eczema as well and it is great."
11/24/2011: Worriedmom from Las Vegas, Nv replies: "Whats the name of the product and is it available and USA? So the bumps seemed to have primarily gone down. I see a few bumps around and have soaked more pads in ACV and put on his neck... Much to my sons dismay. He hates the smell. I noticed 1 small bump on his outer thigh. I dont know if its the Molluscum or not?! I also notice a few little bumps on my chest.. how can you really tell Mollescum from just a bump now? His never had a wart look to them.

My true question is how long should treatment last? Think we have only been at it a week but have to get a better routine down to knock this out! How do you transition out? What is best creme to put on during day? How contagious is this really, the docs told me I was probably immune but I read quite a few adults on here."

Since I did not want to face having my doctor tell me I had Genital Warts I decided to ignore the bumps.. When I realized they were not going away in august I decided to face the doctor. She, to my relief, informed me I did not have GW and told me this was MC. I was prescribed some acid solution I was told to apply every night before bed and every morning. November is nearing & I am still struggling with the freaking' bumps!! I've even tried to claw them off and have woke to new bumps the next morning :'( this has seriously affected my confidence and to make matters worse I have some scarring :'( I've been feeling so helpless especially now since I'm running out of y prescription.. Thank god I came across this site.. I know now that I am not alone & I have hope now that I feel like I came across a cure. I will begin to apply ACV to the bumps tomorrow and I will be posting to report any progress.. Wish me luck.. For my scarring I'm thinking of applying some aloe Vera residue? I'm really hoping both the aloe & ACV work since the scars alone are a give away of a disease!! Ugh I want my life back."

10/16/2011: Chelseaaaaa from Puyallup, Washington: "I have molluscum all over my legs. They spread because of shaving. I did try the apple cider vinegar treatment by leaving it on for 24 hrs. Some have scabed some are red and some have not changed at all! But my question is I know you cant shave when you have this but can you wax your legs? I cant stand not shaving them. Ive had molluscum for over 4 months now. Ive been getting them frozen off. A couple weeks ago they were finally all gone so I started to shave again and then they came back and multiplied! How long after they r gone can you shave? I hope apple cider vinegar works! Its all been day 2 since my treatment. PLEASE HELP! "

10/16/2011: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "It depends on whether you want to clear the problem up or you want to spread it. You have only been using ACV for 24 hours. There may still be some virus in the skin. If you open the pustules up by pulling the skin off with wax they will certainly spread. Be patient... it may take 7 days for the skin to be clear or more..."
[YEA]  10/17/2011: Bill from Chicago, Il replies: "When I initially started using ACV to clear up this problem, I killed like 50 of them within the first 24 hours. But they kept coming back 2 - 3 at a time over the course of about 6 weeks. I had to keep applying ACV to the new ones until the virus had died off. Any skin that was infected takes about 6 weeks (average according to online research) to manifest into a bump. So skin that looks normal, but has the virus, might take awhile to show up. I would say that if you are vigilant in applying ACV to new bumps as the appear - they should clear out after about 6 weeks (give or take).

I know that I was frustrated that new ones kept coming - but after like 6 weeks they finally stopped."

10/17/2011: Chelsea from Puyallup, Washington replies: "Okay I will just be patient and not wax them either. How often did you put the Apple Cider Vinegar on your molluscum after the 24 hr treatment? Do I need to do another 24 hr treatment or just apply it on them a couple times a day until they are gone?

Thanks so much for your help!"

[YEA]  10/17/2011: Bill from Chicago, Il replies: "I had to use the ACV for about 7 hours on any bumps... (usually left on while sleeping or while working during the day). I applied a waterproof bandage with cotton soaked in ACV - this prevented the ACV from drying out and maximizing the exposure. The bump should flatten out and turn black or brown (smaller ones seem to just go white, though). But if it is still a bump (i. e. you can feel it raised on the skin) be sure that it is still active and apply more ACV. This is how I did it- but others have used other methods such as makeup pads and whatnot.

Also try to minimize anything that might make them spread such as cutting them open or breaking the bump open.

Eventually it should go away if you treat the bumps as quickly as you detect them. Check for new ones every day until you are certain the virus has been destroyed."

10/18/2011: Chelsea from Puyallup, Washington replies: "I have noticed everyone saying there molluscum has scabbed over after they apply apple cider vinegar. Mine have not yet. I did do another treatment since my first one except I only did it over night and not 24 hrs like I had done before. All mine are red or have not changed :( its now 4 days since I first started doing the apple cider vinegar. Do they have to scab over for this to work? Only a few have disappeared. My bumps are also pretty new- about a couple weeks old and are very small."
10/21/2011: Aila from Sault Ste. Marie, On, Canada replies: "I have found by squeezing or pinching them out gets rid of molluscum very fast. It hurts a bit and then it will bleed. I had tons of them on the back part of my leg, and one by one I squeeze them out, and they never came back. I have also squeezed them out of my babies, as soon as I saw them. It leaves no marks or scars."
10/21/2011: It's Rough from Sault Ste Marie, Ontario replies: "I noticed mine back in August, a lot of them, and left them until September to do anything about them. I have been killing them off slowly for the past 5 weeks or so with the ACV, applying it 2 times a day, but it's still taking a while and more are showing up. But I'd imagine that after the 6 week mark as somebody said in another post they will stop appearing. It's rough, and being at college, the weekends are pretty lame. :(

Thanks to all your posts, they've been giving me some good ideas on how to gain advantages in this chemical warfare below."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  10/26/2011: Chelsea from Puyallup, Washington replies: "Well I'm not sure if its the Apple Cider Vinegar but my molluscum is just multiplying. I have stopped shaving my legs and I'm a girl so it's embarassing and they are still multiplying! Since freezing is the only thing that works for me I made a appointment for today to get them frozen. After that I will continue to apply Apple Cider Vinegar to the bumps I'm getting frozen today since it did get rid of some of my bumps. Maybe it will prevent spreading it? Let's hope so! I dislike the scarring of getting them frozen though. But over time the scar fades and is not very noticable so I am glad it's fall. And by summer the scars will not be very noticeable."

[YEA]  09/27/2011: Mcfree from South, Georgia: "Let me start off by saying this stuff is a miracle! I had bumps pop up on my bikini line for the first time about 2 and a half weeks ago and since I had never heard of Molluscum my first thought was of course herpes. I went to an emergency clinic and they told me I had Molluscum. After doing much research online I came across this site. I never once read anything but freezing and cutting does NOT work. I decided this was worth a shot. I went to the organic food store and apple cider vinegar. The first two nights I soaked make up pads in the vinegar and held them down with a large band aid. I did not poke the molluscums or try to squeeze out the center. After two days half of the spots scabbed over the rest were open and it became very painful to leave the vinegar on for a long time so I started swabbing the remaining spots about 3 times a day. After about 7 days of total treatment the spots were gone. Don't waste your time at the Doctor, this stuff works!!!"

It started on the back of her left leg and then spread to her bottom and now her right leg. I searched the internet so many times but found no known cure. I decided to try APPLE CIDER VINEGAR.... So far so good. I have only been putting it on my daughter's legs about once a week just before she goes to bed but they are definitely clearing up. I have been putting clean pyjama bottoms on her every night after dabbing the cider vinegar on with cotton wool.

Hope this works for others. Best of luck x"

10/13/2011: Holly from Dallas, Texas replies: "We have been battling molluscum for almost a year now. My 5 year old has had it since last December and it spread all over his body. We had most of them go away with the dermotologist using beetlejuice but that does not prevent new ones from popping up. He started with 50 and now were down to 7. This is after 3 trips to the doctor with them applying beetlejuice each time. Well, my second son is now getting them and I had to get an answer.

We started ACV 3 days ago. My question is, the new molluscum that are TINY, do we treat the same way as the more mature ones? I put ACV in a spray bottle and have been spraying the new TINY ones down twice a day, hoping to prevent them from growing at all.

Also, when they have a little black spot in the middle, does that mean I don't have to apply the ACV to those anymore?

Thanks for any responses. I'm going crazy trying to clear this up because I have a baby due soon and I don't want her to come in contact with this horrible stuff."

[YEA]  10/16/2011: Debs from Kelowna, Bc Canada replies: "I'd like to pass on my 'success' so far with the ACV treatments I have used on my 5 year old from this site. Like all of you, extreme frustration with a virus that has not 'disappeared on it's own' since I noticed the 1st few bumps almost 1 year ago. Not willing to try any of the brutal doctors suggestions, my daughter has tolerated this modified treatment extremely well. I began applying ACV nightly before bedtime on Oct. 3rd, 'dabbing' onto the 40 MC that covered one armpit/arm/side area. I used straight ACV dabbed on with a Qtip, then covered with bandaids and wrapped the larger cluster areas with non-stick guaze for the night. Only applying at night, the MC has looked 'red and angry'.. Slowly drying out, and now I can only see 2 MC that have any pus inside.!! Yes!

Once they began really drying and scabbing out, I have begun to apply Vitamin E ointmant to those MC as I fear some scarring. It also seems to speed up healing. ?? I have dabbed on some Tea Tree oil for good measure as well. Seems milder, but couldn't hurt. I have not noticed 1 new MC since we began treatment. :-)) Fingers crossed! I will definately be passing this info onto our GP. Btw.... Naturally, I have not dabbed ACV onto 'open' MC as they erupted... that would be cruel to a 5 y/old. I just wanted to pass this along to other parents ... That it IS WORKING for us!! Even if it's taking longer.... It is working!! Thanks for everyone's input... We are finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! Note... I launder her jammie top every day.. And have stopped the nightly hot baths as it also feeds the spread. Who'd of thunk it?? Just wish I'd known this stuff a year ago! :-))"

10/20/2011: Lyndz from Manitowoc, Wi replies: "My 5 year old son also had molluscum. Every month for about 6months we were going to the dermatologist for 'beetle juice' treatments which were overall painful once the treated area would blister.

One day at my job I met a woman who was Native American and practiced natural remedies. We discussed the process my son had been going through. She did some research for me and made a tincture to apply to the affected area every night. In addition to the tincture she had made she also recommended that he take a vitamin with Echinacea.

Long story short-he put the paste on once and decided he didn't like it so we discontinued that but he has been taking L'il Critters Immune C Plus Zinc and Echinacea Gummy Bears vitamins daily and his molluscum has disappeared completely. These gummy vitamins taste good, easy for children to take, inexpensive and can be found at general retailers like: CVS, Walgreens & Target.

Unfortunately this past week our pediatrician confirmed that my 1yr old son has molluscum. We do not want him to be treated by the dermatologist with 'beetle juice' so I have been researching liquid toddlers vitamins with Echinacea before we try other aggressive treatments. Maybe I will try ACV for him. Wish us luck!"

10/23/2011: Debs from Kelowna, Bc replies: "Just to update on my daughter's plight... After 2 weeks of a mild ACV treatment, she is now more than 60% healed! Mostly now, just red areas remain... You can tell they are well on the path to healing. I wanted to add that I also boosted her immune system with added multi vitamins and vitamin c tabs. We have not noted 1 new MC since we began this treatment on Oct. 3rd. I now feel confident to say ''Success''!! Can't wait to show the doctor. Hope you all have the same measure of success!"
11/27/2011: Shelley from Plano, Tx replies: "Hello, First off..... Hello Debs from Kelowna BC. I used to live there!

MY son has been dealing with this since April. We have tried zyclara for two months now. The bumps (on torso, upper arms, and few on neck) are seeming to get red and angry. My hubby and I are now starting with this ACV treatments like gang busters now. It sure is bring the core to the surface more. Sometimes we pop them but mostly we keep putting the cotton and bandaid to the area until it gets black and scabs over. They are everywhere on his torso so it's hard to do one at a time. We are putting big gauze pieces soaked in the ACV and have him sit while watching a show. Then we take it off. We will do this twice a day. We have terrasil cream and aquaphor healing oinment to put on in between. Throughout the day I will swab down his body with ACV to get the little ones. I hope this works. It looks just terrible! We would love for this to go away before spring! Crossing our fingers. I'm glad I found this website."

12/29/2011: Sara from Ocean Springs, Ms replies: "A few months back my then 15 month old daughter developed MC. I found this site and started using the ACV. I used q-tips soaked in ACV and held them on each bump for several seconds. I felt this would be a more humane treatement with a toddler. I did this 2-3 times a day. Some of the bumps were very tiny, some looked like typical pimples, and some looked like the typical MC bumps. The doctor did diagnose her with MC. The bigger ones turned black and/or scabbed and went away, and others just went away. I did this for about 3 weeks. New ones just kept popping up. I treated them until finally I felt like I was free of them.

Now, here I am about 2 months later, and she seems to have developed them again. They really don't look like the typical MC, more like a pimple or bug bite, but there are about 13 of them on her face, hands, legs, and feet. This would make sense because she is covered in the other areas. My question: Is it possible to get reinfected after a couple of months of clear skin? Can they be molluscum even if they are not the "typical" waxy, flesh-colored bumps? How can I prevent this from happening again? She doesn't bathe with siblings and I use a new towel every time she bathes. She is 17 months old, so I can't exactly tell her not to touch them plus there are 4 on her hands and she sucks her thumb!!! I am sooooo frustrated because I thought I had vanquished these irritating little bumps. The ACV definitely worked; they disappeared in a matter of 3 weeks, but I don't know if I can keep this up every few months. Any suggestions?"

Some of the bumps are turning black and clearing up others have a white like scab on them at this point do I keep applying the ACV or let it try and heal up? (SIDENOTE: DO NOT POP Molluscum LIKE A PIMPLE - ALL IT DOES IS SPREAD THE VIRUS. ) Also it's a cheap way to secure yourself, go purchase some alcohol and after each time ur hands come in contact with the area of treatment make sure you use the alcohol on ur hands. This will ensure you don't spread Molluscum to other parts of your body! Good God I hope this is over soon!"

I've done this a few nights now. I can't seem to keep the bandaid on all night in the bikini line area. It seems to be working. They appear to have shrunk and they're not painful (filled with pus). It was taking over our lives and spread to her 6 year old sister. When the dr finally diagnosed and gave us a prescription ( of what I dont even remember, it was totally useless! ).

I then started researching home remedies and came accross this site and thought I would share some tips. Like I said, the bumps were just everywhere and taking over my 4 year old. For 3 days I dipped makeup remover pads in the ACV and covered with bandaids... From the regular sized ones on individual bumps, to the super large bandages on her clusters. After the 2-3 days most had responded, but not all.

But now, we had a new problem. She had sooooo many bumps and areas that needed treatment, I was going thru an entire plus box of bandaids each treatment/day. The next mornings, when time to remove bandages, it was torture on her!! I dont know if she just has very sensitive skin ( not something I'd noticed before in her) or because of the number of bandages we required or if I had gorilla glue adhesive bandages lol! I knew we had to continue treatment, but now she had scabs/rips in good skin from removing bandaids. She was in horrible pain and screaming whenever she knew it was time to switch or remove them. I felt awful, but was determined to see this thru till we killed this HATEFUL virus.

My best suggestion on large clusters in areas like behind the knees or in armpit, ect.... is to get the whole makeup pad remover soaked with ACV, then cover/wrap with "secure flex wrap" stuff. Its the roll of crinkle-y looking stuff that sticks to itself. Looks like a big tape roll. You tear it into any length you need and while it sticks to itself, it won't on skin. Now hopefully, we can finish these bumps off for once and all! Good luck. I truly understand your pain, suffering and frustration. Hang in there!"

It is so bad I am thinking of bathing him every night in ACV! I am not kidding. This is the most horrible virus:("

Your post caught my attention as I have 2 little ones battling this stubborn virus :( Our son is 5 and had three on his stomach for about 6 months that never evolved until we moved to a damper climate and then all h-e-l-l broke loose. He has been to a dermatologist twice now for beetle juice treatments and it was looking promising, only 10 or so bumps, healing and no new ones until this last treatment. He woke up earlier in the week with large crops all over his knees, all over his legs, arms even top of his hands and ears... Impossible for me to treat individually, so what do I do? I want to try the ACV but he is so ridden with them can I just rub it on his body with a make up pad? I feel so bad for him and am worried kids will start to notice and tease him or not want to play with him. Our little girl is 3.5 and she has a few on her lower trunk/groin area but they seem to have responded well to the beetle juice as I haven't noticed any new ones anywhere else on her body. I am desperate for advice and reassurance this too shal pass, so hard to see them go through this."

09/10/2011: Tori from Nj, Nj : "After a very emotional battle with molluscum contagiosum, and then a lot of Internet research, and rentless treatment w/ Aldara, I decided to give organic apple cider vinegar a try. I have been drinking it daily with water. On Wednesday night, I soaked cotton balls in it and taped them to new molluscum spots (they were so tiny that I was not even sure it was still molluscum). Within 2 days, they scabbed up ("over"). I have little scabs in my genital area where the molluscum was. The scabs remind me of what happened after I scraped a knee or an elbow as a kid.

It is now Saturday, so the scabs are fresh.

What happens to these scabs? Do they disappear? Fall off? I'm refraning from picking at them. Will anything like Vaseline or Neosporin help them recover sooner?"

I soaked those round makeup pads with ACV and put a large bandaid over it and kept it on overnight and took it off about 12 hours later. The MC looked white like it scabbed over so I just wiped the area again with ACV and let it air dry. Now I wait to see. I believe once it scabs, we're almost home free. Though one of MC turned black and now it's completely healed, so not sure about the white scabbing. Will probably keep applying the ACV at night though. It can't hurt since it's supposed to kill the virus. Post again if you see change and so will I. I'd like to know how you made out. Good luck!"

Mine have scabbed over along the bikini line about 6 of them and I've been rubbing ACV on it every time I go to the bathroom when I'm home. Yes, they are sore and I tried leaving it on at night but it burned too much, so I took it off; but do we have to continue dabbing it with ACV when it scabs over or just leave it alone and let it dry up? I hope someone answers this. I had a few that turned black and it's completely healed but these turned white and scabbed over, so I don't know if I should keep dabbing it with ACV or just leave it alone to dry out?"
09/19/2011: Lolabell from Waretown, Nj Usa replies: "Yeah, when they turn white that means the virus has been burned off and they scab up. When they scab, you don't need to apply the ACV just leave it alone to dry out. They're supposed to turn red or black and fall off but mine haven't yet. They're still white and it burns if I put ACV on them so I'm leaving it alone for now and let the surrounding skin heal a bit, it's a bit irritated from the ACV and the bandaid. Hope this info helps and hope this clears up for good."
09/23/2011: Concerned Guest from Northwest, Ga replies: "I know how you feel! It is depressing and annoying. I have some on my genital area as well. I found that if you poke it with a sterilized needle they tend to go away faster. I am absolutly paranoid about them... My Dr. really didn't seem concerened about them. I hope this helps, I know how you feel."
09/23/2011: Concerned Guest from Northwest, Ga replies: "So you just dabbed it on and it went away, You didn't to 24 hours with bandaid or taped cotton ball?"
09/23/2011: Lola from Waretown, New Jersey Usa replies: "Help please someone. I have about 8 bumps right in my bikini line. I've been trying to apply ACV with bandaids at night but after a few hours, it soaks through and the bandaid is slipping off. I did initially leave it on all night and when I took bandaid off in morning, they looked white. I left it alone during the day and at night, the white was gone but they looked like raised mounds, like there is pus inside, almost skin color. I try to apply the ACV on at night but it's in such a precarious part of the body, it's hard to apply the bandaid and keep it on.

I know ACV is the answer. I had one on my lower stomach and that turned black and it's completely gone. However, this cluster on my bikini line is not turning black. When they turn white, should I stop the ACV and let it heal? When do they turn black since that's when I know the virus is done for. The white also looks like scabs but they don't turn black and they're still there. Also, after the initial overnight treatment, do I have to continue leaving pads on each night if they're white?

Help, any suggestions? I've been doing this on and off for 3 weeks and they have not disappeared.

Thanks."

09/25/2011: Lolabell from Waretown, Nj Usa replies: "To Concerned Guest from GA

Well, it's been 2 days since my last post. the bumps have gone down, some have flattened with some scabbing, one is a bright white. They're no longer puffy and sore and no longer tend to burn when I apply the ACV on them. I've given up trying to tape the bandaid on my bikini line area. It doesn't stay on well and it really irritates the unaffected skin around the bumps. Now, the past 2 nights, I've just placed ACV soaked makeup pads on the area and left them on for up to 1 hour then remove and let air dry. I'll keep doing this each night until they are gone. It certainly can't hurt since the ACV kills the virus. If anyone out there has other suggestions, I'd love to hear them. One bump turned black and is completely gone; these bumps along the bikini line either turn white or scab and flatten out, they don't turn black, but I suppose the ACV is working. What a nightmare."

09/28/2011: Mcfree from Valdosta, Georgia replies: "I just got rid of this disease, but I too was confused with the white scabbing. I didn't know if it meant the bump was no longer contagious and healing so I kept applying ACV. The spots just looked the same for about 5 days.. I finally decided to quit applying the ACV to see if they were really dead and two days later they were all gone. My bumps never turned black, they just turned white and then disappeared!"
09/29/2011: Lolabell from Waretown, Nj/ Usa replies: "Thanks for the feedback. Mine are staying white and/or shrinking. No more pain when I put ACV on at night. Leave soaked pads on for about 45 minutes then take them off to air out. May just leave them alone the next few nights and see if they just dry out and finally disappear. Glad yours have cleared up. Hope to be rid of this soon."
[YEA]  10/07/2011: Lolabell from Waretown, Nj/usa replies: "Just wanted to say that my MC is completely cleared. After the initial application of the makeup pad soaked in the ACV, covered with a bandaid (difficult in the bikini line area) and leaving it on for about 8 - 10 hours, I soaked the makeup pads with the ACV and left them on the bumps, which turned white/scabbed over, for 30 to 45 minutes at night. I took them off and let them air out. I soaked them for about a week for 30-45 minutes each night and finally decided to leave them alone and just let them dry up and they Finally Are All Gone. I'm cured! After months of having these bumps they are gone. Now, if they recur, I'll know what to do.

I wish everyone here the best and thanks for this site. You saved me from months and months of embarrasment and discomfort and who knows hundreds of dollars of medication since I have no health insurance at the moment, so ACV will always be a staple in my kitchen/bathroom! Good luck and yes, it works and it takes time and patience but eventually, it does work."

[YEA]  08/30/2011: William from Chicago, Il: "I'm 40, and contracted MC about 2 months ago from my gf. The infection was in the pubic region. Being rather aware of things, after about a month I realized that the bumps were not just pimples, but something else. I did a lot of online research and came across Zymaderm as a possible treatment. I tried Zymaderm for about 4 weeks (twice a day) and unfortunately, no real progress was made using this treatment. In fact, I think it might have spread worse. I do think zymaderm worked better on the smaller "new" MC bumps. But the larger older "clusters" were not going away. After a few weeks the more infected area would itch pretty bad, but I resisted in scratching, knowing this would only spread the infection.

So in frustration I went back online to check for other home remedies and found Apple Cider Vinegar and in particular this page. I do remember ACV working for me about 3 years ago on a wart I had on my thumb that persisted for 8 months. The ACV killed it in about 4 days after all other treatments failed. Since MC is basically a variation of warts, I thought this might be a plausible treatment. Boy was I right!

I acquired some waterproof bandages from Walgreens that were large enough to cover the worst part of the infection (about 90% of the 30- 35 bumps that I had). I also purchased some cotton pads and cut them to fit into the bandage – so it could hold more ACV. I poured ACV into the bandages and then affixed them to my problem area. I reinforced it with some cloth medical tape. It was approximately noon in the day when I started treatment using ACV. The ACV did sting a bit, but was tolerable. I left it like this till I got home later that day and removed the bandages about 7 hours later. To my surprise the bumps had started turning black!!! Most that were under the bandage were already dead. I decided to prepare another new fresh bandage and applied it for the rest of the night and while I slept. I must say the stinging of the ACV was a bit intense at this point, as the good skin was getting red (like a sunburn). I took some advil and went to bed.

By morning the bumps had all turned black with a white part around it. I think the MC core (the white part that is the actual virus) had turned black and died. The good skin was red and irritated from the ACV like a sunburn really. NO big deal.

I plan to get the rest of them tonight. From what I read when they turn black, they are destroyed. I'm glad this is finally over with."

I am 20 years old and it all started with one growing on my inner thigh. It gradually started to spread around my lady bits area. Some even appeared on my neck(dnt knw how). I was getting extremely frustrated with waiting for me to see the dermatologist to remove them, so I found this website and it helped me sooo much. It worked beautifully for me. I bought the apple cider vinegar with makeup pads remover & some tape (good tape). I would soak the pads & place it over the MC in the morning, remove and did the same at night. They soon began to dry up and some got white and the big ones got black. Now they are healing & I havnt spotted any new ones. I have been praying for this to end, its ruining my social life. For others with molluscum try this & pray & have patience.. It'l work out"

You say you soaked makeup pads with ACV and placed them on the area in the morning and then again at night. How long did you leave them on in the morning and at night and did you tape them in place? Someone just used a Q-tip dipped in ACV and just dabbed the bumps twice a day; if so, do you still have to cover them with a bandaid? Hope to hear from you soon. I am anxious to try this as soon as possible.

09/01/2011: Lolabell60 from Waretown, New Jersey replies: "Thanks for your feedback. I placed the soaked makeup pads with sticky bandage on my inner thighs over night. I woke up and two of the larger ones turned black and the other few I had turned white. When I went to rub some more ACV on, the black ones broke and bled but read here that once they're black, the virus is dead and can't recontaminate you. I'll put pads back on tonight since it smells strong during the day and see what happens in the morning; yes, you're right. It does work and it does take a little time but this is so much better than the expensive cream my doctor recommended. I must say ripping the sticky bandage off hurt and irritated my thighs more than ACV. Either way, I believe I'll be cleared of this in a week or so!"

i went to 2 doctors and they told me the same thing--Molluscum Contagiousum. After a bit of research I decided to use ACV. here is what I did:

--got a needle and sterilized it with soap and water, 91% alcohol and then running through a flame.

--poked each bump with the needle till I could see a teeny bit of blood (confirmation that I had gone through the skin of the bump)

--soak q-tip/cotton ball with Bragg ACV UNDILUTED and apply/rub on each bump for about 30 secs. Do this several times a day. (upon waking up, before bed, each time using the restroom when at home)

bumps scabbed up and were gone in less than 10 days. had no irriation, burning, etc, but that is because I didn't leave the cotton on my skin for a prolonged period of time (i see that others are taping the ACV soaked cotton onto their skin and getting irritation/burning).

i didn't wear gloves or anything, but I did make sure that I washed my hands thoroughly and even poured some alcohol on them and let it dry.

i also got another cotton ball soaked in ACV and swiped that over all the surrounding areas of skin. I did this to possibly "prevent" the spread of it and to also "treat" what others may have not yet popped up yet.

i think poking/piercing the bump allows the ACV to work with just a quick application as opposed to not piercing and leaving the cotton on for several hours.

if you are paranoid you can swipe down the area after the bumps/scabs have gone away. do this for about a week after ALL bumps have cleared (when you wake up and before bed)."

It would disappear then show right back up again, not to mention I think I had this over a year now, it sucks. So like everyone else I try to come up with a better solution bcuz the medication wasnt working plus lost my insurance, so I cant afford to go to my derm to get treated. So I have tried the acv, but not to sure if im doing it right? I bought the bragg organic Apple Cider Vinegar and I think I been doing it for about two weeks now. The first time I did it I popped couple then wiped it down with acv, but then the blood turn brown and I have a couple scars now, so I stop popping them and have been rubbing the Apple Cider Vinegar on the mc about three times a day. Once when I wake up in the morning, once when I come home from work, and then once at night. I also have some benezol wash stuff that I been washing it off once a day only. So to clear it up the mc looks alot smaller and getting a little clear but hasnt left yet, kinda like when I was using my own medication for it so just wondering if im doing something wrong or if there is something else I can do. I know Apple Cider Vinegar kills the 1st layer of your skin so I dont want to keep using to much acv. So if there is any suggestions you have, it would be much appreciated. Just really want to get rid of this stuff! Thank you."

I have no personal experience with molluscum contagiosum but it appears to be caused by a virus and therefore using any antiviral treatments should help. The easiest example I can think of is virgin organic coconut oil which is antimicrobial, antioxidant, antifungal, and antibacterial and is very good for both skin and hair. You should probably take some internally as well as applying externally."

[YEA]  06/04/2011: Anonymous from USA: "I was diagnosed with molluscum about a month ago, and now I am almost entirely clear. I went to the health clinic on my college campus, and they froze off the visible one with liquid nitrogen. However, the bumps were still present and just made my skin red. I started investigating and I first tried Zymaderm. It wasn't working as fast as I wanted it to, so I did more research and came across apple cider vinegar, which was a huge blessing! I went to Whole Foods and purchased Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar (Whole Foods' brand works as well). I had two clusters of these bumps between my thighs, very close to my panty line. I took circular cotton makeup pads and poured ACV on them, placing them over the bumps on each side. I then used big bandaids to cover them, but duct tape will also work. As for the individual ones that spread up both sides of my butt cheeks, I took cotton balls and broke them off into smaller balls, dipped them in the apple cider vinegar (which I poured into the cap) and took either duct tape or waterproof tape to cover the bumps. Within 24 hours, the bumps either turned white or scab. I went to the doctor and he told me what I was doing was working and said that they were most likely no longer contagious when they were scabbed, which makes sense because chicken pox are no longer contagious when they are scabbed over and molluscum is part of the same family of virus. I'm keeping an eye on the area but ACV and prayer really works, so please give it a try. Good luck!"

I am a 20 yr old male and as you can imagine it is doing some serious damage on my social life. I have been using Retin-A since I was first diagnosed about 8 days ago. It did not seem to be doing too much although I understand it works slow. I read yesterday that apple cider vinegar will help fight the mollscum. I bought some cotton make up pads and soaked them in apple cider vinegar and taped them right onto the bumps with some medical tape, although that tape did not stick too too well (I heard duct tape would be stickier). Although there was too much mollscum to cover all of them, I put it on the cluster on my chin and the ones on my lower stomach/pubic area. I put them on in the morning and by the time I took them off at night, almost all of the bumps on my chin had scabbed over, and several of the ones on my abdomen (the biggest ones) had also scabbed and flattened. AMAZING!

I will keep trying this, but I am also going to have them removed by my Dermatologist in a few days. Hopefully he can get most of them, but it seems like I have a hundred. I will update on my progress, but I would DEFINITELY reccomend putting the apple cider vinegar on them. (I used regular stop and shop brand acv.)"

[YEA]  11/15/2010: Nate from Nw Suburbs Of Chicago, Illinois Usa: "Hands down yes this works if you do it correctly. I used podofilox which is a topical solution given to me by a doctor and it only managed to clear one but it left it very large and scabbed. ALl the other ones that I used apple cider vinegar on went away, peacefully. First you must take a pin or needle and sterilize it with a flame then once its cool pick at the little buggers until they are open and remove the white hard part if you can. Then (this may burn) wipe the buggers with ACV. If you wet some cotton balls with Acv and bandaid them to the effected area over night this helps too although can be a little uncomfortable. Also it is possible to burn yourself with the acid overnight if it sits on sensitive skin so make sure it is taped down securely. Do this for maybe three days it will look more red but then dont wipe them for a couple days and make sure you rinse off the Apple Cider Vinegar every morning. Once they are not irritated Then just wipe them everyday once and they should clear and go down relatively fast. I treated my infection in about a week and a half with this stuff. ITS A MIRACLE! "

There is so many conditions out there that this could be. I would go to a different Dr. And get a second opinion. It could be chicken pox - if someone in your house just got inoculated for chicken pox, then they could have made it spread to anyone! It could be warts, it could be an allergy to wheat - Celiac disease, etc. When you know exactly what he has, then you will know which way to go from there. If he already has eczema then it may just be that. If you could send some pictures then I would try to do that."

I taped on the Apple Cider Vinegar soaked cotton balls, woke up they were white, went to work and two hours later they were dark red and black... Yeah!!!!! I treated smaller and more remote ones over next two days... And now all I have left is black scabs... Which are beginning to fall away leaving no scars or any sign of mc. Thank you everyone for your taking the time to post and share your knowledge. This is the simplest, most effective, shortest, least invasive or damaging remedy there is... And your doctor will not treat you this way.... Shame shame shame. I wish you all luck, and my god.... this really works and has changed my life."

02/27/2011: Mj from Philadelphia, Pa replies: "Hi,
I have had bumps for at least 7 months now. They began around my anus on the sides of my cheeks. then a couple on my right thigh, and 5 more on the left side of my stomach. My doctor and gyno identified them both as mulluscum.

I read about the ACV, just tried it 3 nights ago, and have done so each night with a saturated cotton ball and bandaid. The bump got much bigger and turned black in the center!! It hurts a bit when it is on, and when I remove it in the morning the bump feels very raw, open, and sore (where as before they never hurt or itched) Is this normal? Is it good? how long is the process?

I would like to add the Thuja as well.... what is the dosage?

Has anyone tried multi-treating (combining ACV with teatree, iodine, etc???)

Thank you for any advice."
02/27/2011: Frog513 from Swansboro, Nc, Us replies: "Hi MJ form Philly. My son suffered from this about 2 years ago when he was 10. He had them all over his torso, mostly on the side of his rib cage. The doctor said the medicine had too many side effects and told us to wait it out. We decided to do the Organic ACV and the next day they were almost dried up. We continued doing this every evening for about 5 days and they disappeared completely and now he is almost 12 and we haven't seen one surface. I am not sure if what you are seeing is normal but I don't think it will hurt to continue on. I do recall the bump being filled with some kind of white discharge if he squeezed them so maybe that is what you are seeing in yours only yours has turned black from the ACV? Just a guess. I would recommend organic ACV with the mother. Not sure about combining with the other things you mentioned but I wanted to share an ACV success story. One more thing, we did not leave the cottonball on his skin, we just saturated the area and covered him with those HUGE bandaids. Hope you find relief soon!

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  04/18/2011: Rocketgirl from Houston, Tx, Usa replies: "I've been dealing with MC for what feels like forever now. For the longest time, I honestly didn't know what it was. I was terrified that I had contracted herpes or hpv, the usual fears. Went to the gyno for the standard check-up and she didn't mention anything about this. Waited for all of the STD tests to come back and they all came up clean, so I went back in to talk to her about what was going on with my lady business.

She then told me I had something called MC and failed to explain what it even was, but told me how to treat it; my options were cryotherpay or the aldera cream, which, if we're being honest, is just way too expensive, especially considering I haven't found much positive feedback on it. So, I call her up and schedule an appointment for the cryo. I go in on Friday and she tells me that she thinks we should wait a little while because MC will usually clear on it own, mind you I've been dealing with this for AT LEAST 6 months, if not longer. I tell her I'll think about it, so I leave and I'm panicking because let's face it, nobody feels very awesome with little, itchy bumps all over their lady parts. So I use my resources that I started out with in the beginning.

I found this lovely little gem of a website and I figured, apple cider vinegar, what the hell, it can't hurt anything, right? Right, I was. I've been doing the ACV every night for around probably 12 hours, I originally did this as a test run and planned on maybe doing it once, figuring it wouldn't work. I was definitely wrong. I've done it three nights in a row and the size and number of my MC has gone down substantially. The areas that I'm treating seems to be a little irritated and the ACV burns like hell, but my body is in survival mode at this point and I can handle a little burning if it means I can get rid of these pesky bumps that have been driving me crazy so long. I'm actually going in today to get some cryo done on the areas that are harder to cover and take care of, but the areas that I've been treating are looking better each day. So hey guys, thanks for sharing the secret wonder cure. I don't think I would wish MC on my worst enemy."

04/20/2011: Lynn from Dallas, Tx replies: "I had MC a few years ago, and basically what I did was squeeze the middle out of the bump. I would use my thumbs and squeeze/wiggle the white part out. That is the part that has the virus. Once that comes out, it will bleed profusely. I then sterilized the area w/alcohol or iodine, and washed my hands thoroughly. Once that white part is out, it will completely heal up. You just want to make sure you get it out, so you don't spread it. I would bet rid of any new bumps this way, and eventually it went away."
08/06/2011: Tired Of Dealing With This from Little Rock, Ar replies: "My five year-old was diagnosed with Mollescum Contagiosum in November 2010. We have gone through the treatments of burning them off (in the beginning when it was just on his inner elbow) and since April when it spread to his left side of his torso with aldara cream (way too expensive-$400 for 36 packets) for three days then retin-A on the fourth day to get them red and irritated. Then for the next four to five days we apply triamcinalon cream to get his irritated area back to normal only to look like we haven't treated the mollescum at all! Now we are trying the Bragg's ACV per my sister's advice after reading this cite. We have done this for two nights (soaked gauze pad in ACV, put in on inner elbow, put papertowel on it so it won't soak through shirt, then wrap with medical wrap, and put a plastic bag over it because he can't stand the smell)! It is not looking that much better and it is somewhat red and irritated (the skin under and around the bumps but not the bumps themselves). He said last night when I put it on that it burned him. I am wondering if the wetness of the pad all night long (although this is what yall say to do) is making the area too moist and maybe I should just wipe it several times a day with the ACV and at night and not leave the most ACV pad on him all night long. We are trying to get this cleared up prior to him starting school in two weeks because we are afraid the school will freak if they see this and call to have us come pick him up. What are your suggestions now?"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  10/14/2010: Worried Mom from Birmingham, Uk: "My 4 year old daughter has been suffering from MC for around 2 months now at first they didn't bother her but they have started to spread they first appeared on her lower abdomen and now her torso is covered and I have noticed some appearing on the pelvic area. Every time she gets hot she complains they itch. Doctors have told me they cannot do anything for them and they will clear up in 6 months or so! I have since discovered they can take upto 5 years to go! So thank you everyone who has posted on here with their stories. 2 days ago I started the apple cider vinegar putting some on cotton wool and then taping over the mc and omg what a result the following morning just as I read the mc's had turned black and scabby. She has soo many of them and also suffers from ezcema so the ACV doesn't help that. But I'm doing a few spots each night now hopefully they will all clear soon. Thankyou everyone for the advise on this site. I AM TEMPTED TO TRY THE CLEAR NAIL VARNISH ON A COUPLE JUST SIMPLY BECAUSE ITS LESS HASSLE THAN THE TAPING OF COTTON WOOL AND THE SMELL OF VINEGAR. I WILL UPDATE ON HERE."

I have noticed it on my son now for a few months with new spots occuring here and there, most recently a small one just above his lip. We have done the Apple Cider Vinegar for two nights now and all I can say is it's amazing. Each morning we have taken the cotton balls off, you can see the difference in the areas he has the spots. It is killing the papules. They are shrunk in size each day and have a white appearance which is the skin dying, therefore killing the virus. I'm very happy with this treatment and our Dr. gave us her full approval as it's a more natural approach."

[YEA]  06/14/2010: Mary Jane from Ireland: "All 3 of my young children contracted molluscum contagiosum between the ages of 2 and 6 (at different times) - presumably at the swimming pool. The youngest child got it the worst and having been told by our gp that it was harmless and would go in due course (all very well but it was irritating her and spreading quite fast from her arms to her body) I read about apple cider vinegar on the net. What I did was prick a few of the wart like things with a sterile needle, remove the white gunk, clean the site and then apply the (double strength - neat) vinegar on a cotton wool pad for about 10 seconds each place, and then put a plaster (band-aid)on it. It did sting but didn't last long or upset them too much. In all 3 cases the little warts went away - not just the few I treated but all of them - within a few weeks. I probably did 2 treatments with the vinegar per child about 1 week apart. I am so thankful that I did treat it myself rather than let it run it's course over many months or years, which can happen."

[YEA]  05/21/2011: Kendra from Richland, Wa replies: "Hi,

I just wanted to vote YES for apple cider vinegar treating molluscum contagiosum. My 3 year old daughter had two flesh colored bumps on her left buttock that no cream I applied to would help. Unfortunately, we were busy with moving and Christmas, so it wasn't until 2 months later that it was diagnosed. The doctor made no big deal about it, and said it would go away on its own in months to years. Unfortunately, my daughter had itched open the bumps and my son and I had taken baths with her beforehand. We all ended up with molluscum, but I was able to treat all of my bumps and my 7 year old son's bumps with soaking in apple cider vinegar for 1-2 days. I would cut out a small piece of a cotton makeup remover pad and soak it in apple cider vinegar, remove the excess liquid and put it on the bumps under a waterproof band-aid. I do have to say that I still have scars from this treatment, but it has only been a month or so.

My daughter's case has been much more difficult. Unfortunately, the dermatologist's receptionist recommended salicilic acid, so I tried that on my daughter which was very painful for her and turned her skin purple. I do not recommend this! Of course, her skin was too sensitive after that for apple cider vinegar, so I bought some colloidal silver water and salve that I am applying to her. I do give her baths with apple cider vinegar, tea tree oil, ravintasara oil, and lavendar oil. Every now and then I try to treat one of her bumps with apple cider vinegar, and the treatment works. My daughter sometimes cries and complains that it stings her, however, in which case I will take off the band-aid. We have also treated the bumps by popping them like a pimple, and then washing thoroughly with alcohol. She cries for this, too, because it hurts. Needless to say, it is taking longer for her bumps to go away, but things are much better and are mostly confined to her left buttock, although she did have bumps on her legs, stomach, back, and chest. It has been 6 months since I initially saw the original bumps on her butt.

I should also mention that we do not share towels or clothes now. We do not bathe together anymore. We use a towel or wash cloth once and then it is laundered. The same goes for clothes. Everything is laundered using the "sanitary" cycle (hot water) in my wash machine. I have removed all hand towels in the bathrooms and replaced them with paper towels. I am using tea tree oil soap, colloidal silver shampoo, colloidal silver water spray, colloidal silver lotion and salve when needed. I also mix olive oil with tea tree oil, raventasara oil, and lavendar oil as a moisturizer. My husband has not contracted this virus (thank God).

I read a pediatric journal study using Tagamet to succesfully treat molluscum, but this did not work for my children. Apparently this treatment may only work for atopic children.

We also took thuja occidentalis, but I did not notice any improvement afterwards.

My bumps were very itchy, so I would use a Q-tip dipped in silver salve to "itch" the bumps - especially those I thought I had on my scalp and ears. Of course I threw it away once I had used both sides of the Q-tip.

I appreciate this website so very much. I use it now all the time!

Thanks, Kendra"

02/17/2010: C from Anonymousville, USA: "I got molluscum around my vagina and didn't know it so my boyfriend and I continued to have sex. One day we realized there was a lot on both of us. So we went to the doctor and they zapped us with liquid nitrogen. I went home and it spread. The zapped ones didn't look very different, so I went online and found out about apple cider vinegar. We got Heinz 5% and left it on overnight with cotton. The small ones look about the same, some spread, and the big ones turned really dark. The skin around the entire area has been really red and itchy. The ones on my boyfriend's shaft turned into huge black patches and it irritated areas around it. Is all of this normal? And since a lot of them don't seem to be going away, should we keep using ACV or should we try something else, like tea tree oil?

Thanks!"

I thought that they were bumps from shaving the bikini area (all of my bumps were only in the bikini line area, with a few just near the outside folds of the vulva), but after a yearly pap I was told that they were molusscum. The nurse told me that I didnt need to worry about them, that they would go away on their own. However, as I continued to shave, I was getting more. I went to my doctor and he burned them off, weekly as more would show up, for about a month. Then I moved, and I still had some showing up. I looked a little online and read about silver solutions and various silver devices killing it, but the sites (at that time) wanted me to spend nearly a $100 or more on the solution and/or equipment that would get rid of it. So instead, I found some silver bandaids and covered the few remaining ones. Amazingly, they disappeared not long after, I think it was within a few weeks. But its been over six years now and I have not had a reoccurence with them. So I would suggest to others to give silver bandaids a try. I didn't try ACV for it so I cannot give an opinion on it."

They are still quite small and he doesn't show any sign of discomfort. We took him to the Dermatologist, and they sent him home with Retinol treatment, but the truth is that it hasn't helped at all. The Dermatologist says she will remove them when she sees him next time if the MCs hadn't disappear. I would much rather use a home remedy before putting my son through the pain of freezing the MCs. My pediatrician, at some point recommended to use clear nail polish, but since he had one MC at the time I didn't really pay much attention to it. Seeing the post about the use of clear nail polish to treat MCs, I would like to know how the clear nail polish needs to be applied on the MCs in order for it to be successfull? Any help is appreciated, I am pretty desperate to get him cured without putting him through any pain."

[YEA]  08/23/2009: Gnomelover from Houston, Tx replies: "Hi Everyone. I just wanted to say two things about my experience with ACV. I've had MC for about 5 months now. It started with one lesion on my thigh that turned into about 10 autoinnoculated spots on my privates. Thanks to my Dr that told me it was a *YEAST* infection on my skin!!!!! This is why I kept shaving. Note: do NOT NOT NOT shave when you have MC. It *will* spread like wildfire! :(

To the poster that asked if the MC got worse before it was better using ACV, I am thinking you might have just had some bumps that hadn't surfaced yet and the ACV made them more visible.

I have been using Heinz diluted to 5% ACV since last night. I soaked a cotton ball in it and then covered the area with one of those huge bandaids and left it on about 12 hours. I woke up this morning. My MC is WHITE with black in the middle!!! Even with the diluted version this is already working. I discovered about 10 bumps on my buttocks last night :( Had no idea that they were there. I am going to be doing this method to them all day today and all night to help them on their way OUT the door.

I have popped my other MC but I gave this a try and this is great. Everyone says it burns but my ACV does not burn (probably due to dilution) and is still seemingly effective.

I am also trying DRINKING this horrible stuff. I mean it's really awful tasting to me but I figure drinking and topically applying will be better than just one or the other.

Bless you all and speedy healing!"
08/23/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hello Gnomelover, Question: You stated you are starting with Heinz ACV and diluting it to 5%. What percentage is it to begin with? Most grocery stores carry the most common dilution which is 4.5 or 5% acetic acid. However I did once run upon (and purchased) a 1/2 gallon container of ACV 10% solution. If you have purchased a 10 percent solution and using it without dilution, it would be horrible tasting to get down. If so please dilute it with 1/2 ACV & 1/2 water before measuring your oral dosage to take."

05/05/2010: J Mom from Massapequa, Ny replies: "Bumpy and Dinks - the itching is eczema. I did read somewhere there is something you can put on it to make it stop itching, so I'm sure a derm can tell you.

Also, the ACV dries out your skin and causes the eczema. Different dots. See the derm for a med. In the future, if you put desitin (baby rash lotion/aka zink oxide) around the pock before you put ACV, it will get less irritated."

Rather than going to a dermatologist who would possibly burn them and leave scars, I instead bought a $4 bottle of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar. I would tape small cotton balls to the infected area. I researched cures and found that Doctors in other countries use apple cider vinegar to cure this ailment along with vitamin E. We wore gloves and saturated cotton balls with apple cider vinegar. We taped pieces of the saturated cotton balls on each wart. We put this on every night at bed time and also gave him vitamin E twice daily. This took two weeks. The warts blister and the core comes to the surface. We removed the core and continued the treatment. He is completely healed and has no scars. The vinegar does sting a little bit at first. Thank God for apple cider vinegar."

It's not considered an STD but I no doubt contracted it from God-knows-who during a one night stand. So anyway, I couldn't stop itching it and the stuff was spreading like mad. My gyno reccomended that I have it burned off with acid. Ouch! No thanks! So, having heard of the healing properties of ACV, I gave it a shot. I applied a little bit to the affected area twice a day with a q-tip. In 2 weeks it was completely gone! Just dried right up. Totally easy and painless.
