[YEA] 12/01/2008: Kjell from Los Angeles, CA writes: "Diarrhea Remedies: Use of calcium montmorillonite clay, especially with silver nitrate can be a very good way to resolve the bacteria, and bowel irritation and help absorb extra fluids to form a more consistent stool. Use a premium, food-grade product that is made in the USA."
[YEA] 10/19/2009: Siafulinux from Savannah, Georgia replies: "Just wanted to agree with using clay for diarrhea. After getting a severe case of gastroenteritis one year that kept me on a couch for a week, I vowed never to get it again. After doing some research clay, activated charcoal and olive leaf extract became my line of defense.
I always keep Bentonite Clay on hand, along with some pills containing a mix of clay and charcoal from our local health food store."
10/19/2009: Robert Henry from Ten Mile, Tn Usa replies: "I agree, and have found that a once a day shake containing 2 teaspoons of Psyllium, 1 teaspoon of flax meal, 1/2 teaspoon of Bentonite Clay,1 teaspoon of Inulin and 1/8 teaspoon of cayenne pepper is enough fiber to keep my stool firm and my bowels regular. Two things we need to take care of is our bowels and our liver. Those are priority # 1.
The inulin feeds your good bowel flora. The cayenne make it all work more better. The clay is an electrolyte which cause it all to flock as it passes through, giving you bulk. It you are a wine maker, you know this is the way you clarify your wine.
I am also in the process of making a green walnut tincture and a poke berry tincture here in East Tn. This is my first attempt at this chore. Naturally, I'm using white lightening from a moonshine friend of mine. That's the way we are here in the ridges. Just glad the auto was invented before my time least I would have had to marry a cousin up the hollar."

[YEA] 05/19/2008: Joyce from Chippewa Lake, Ohio writes: "I have had diarrhea every morning for a year and a half. Then I remembered that my mother use to give my brother diarrhea whenever he got it. I started to eat it at night before bed time, and it works. No more diarrhea in the morning. Cream of Wheat takes up water, and that is no doubt why it works. If you have it all day, eat it as often as necessary."

CREAM OF WHEAT CEREAL, CINNAMON
[YEA] 03/27/2009: Elaine Garcia from Chicago, IL USA writes: "Searching Earth Clinic for something to halt my diarrhea this guy said his mom recommended Cream of Wheat. It would absorb the extra moisture. Then I read about cinnamon as a cure and read about various ways to use it. I decided to combine the two remedies and I make a serving of cream of wheat and I covered it in cinnamon; I probably used 2-3 tsp. I love cream of wheat, so it was painless to scoff this down. It has been 25 minutes. Before I took the remedy I was in the bathroom every 15 minutes or so and my stomach was rumbling so loudly; I never heard it sound so awful!! Now, 25 minutes later there is an occasional low sounding rumble and so far I have not run to the bathroom...no urgency!!
This remedy makes sense; absorbing the excess water causing the diarrhea, and the cinnamon has amazing healing qualities. It was used in the "old days" as a diarrhea/upset stomach remedy, an anti viral/fungal and it helps to treat UTI. I can not contest to these as I have not proven the results. But as for the UTI, that is how I got the diarrhea in the first place. My doctor put on one antibiotic that I was allergic to and then changed the medicine. My stomach was all out of wack and UTI is not gone~! I will keep taking the cinnamon and report that back later. My stomach is calmed down, I do not have cramping and rumbling. No bathroom trips in more than an hour. I am going to bed to get some sleep. And bravo to earth clinic for being there ONCE AGAIN in a middle of the night emergency. I love this website; advice you can rely on (take what you want and leave the rest). Sweet Dreams...Elaine in Chicago."

[YEA] 08/25/2008: Suzanne from Abbotsford, BC writes: "Curing diarrhea is so simple! Just do a clear liquid diet for 24 hours and you'll be fine again. No weird ingredients, no doses to take, just drink clear juices or broths and NO FOOD for 24 hours. My mother used to recommend sipping a rehydration solution of 1 pint water to 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 teaspoon salt, stirred, but I can't say that I have noticed anything wonderful about that."
08/25/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hi Suzanne, Agree with you on the treatment but suggest sticking with clear juices and water or tea. Can't recommend anyone to drink broths because most all the broths or bulloin used to make your own are laden with that neurotoxin or excitotoxin monosodium glutmate. Also advise staying away from any diet drinks because of another neurotoxin (aspartame) in them."

ELECTROLYTE DRINK FOR DIARRHEA AND CHOLERA
[YEA] 01/26/2008: Sherie from TN writes: "I have tried over and again to send you info for curing diarrhea, cholera, but can't get it to go. It just comes back and wants me to re-enter the code. In gist if you'd like to check this out yourself. Cure for diarrhea/cholera is maintaining osmotic pressure/electrolytes. In 1 quart of water add I tablespoon of sugar (any sweet would do, maple syrup, honey, etc.,) and 1 teaspoon of salt. Drink continually until the infection has passed. This will save lives. Love your website. Great info! Sherie in TN"

[YEA] 12/19/2008: Pam from Huntsville, AL writes: "When I was growing up my mom had a great way to stop diarrhea. Mix a teaspoon or two of flour in a glass of water until smooth and drink it down. It will be about the consistancy of Maalox so don't gulp. Chase it with a glass of water. You can take a second dose after about 3 hours if needed, but usually only takes one dose."

IODINE FOR DIARRHEA -- BULGARIAN REMEDY
[YEA] 12/13/2007: Anna from Beijing, CN writes: "I am Bulgarian, living in China at present. As a child, whenever I had diarrhoea, my grandma would give me a few drops of iodine in half a glass of water to drink. It would halt the problem within hours. When my son was 10 months old, he had a severe diarrhoea and after trying a few medicines, the elderly doctor suggested the same remedy for him - 2 drops in some water. The next day he was healthy again. As a school administrator in Beijing I got almost sued by a Finnish mother for administering the remedy to her 8 year old daughter on a trip. There was a bus, full of kids, going to another city 5 hours away and, even though I knew in many countries it was forbidden to take iodine orally, I didn't have a choice. The bus didn't have to stop anywhere on the road and the girl was fine. I have talked with doctors about it and they said that if taken rarely, it's not doing harm. In Bulgaria generations have been treated in this way and I never travel (especially to another country) without my little black bottle. For chool children the dose is 4-5 drops in water and for adults - 5 to 8. Sometimes adults need to repeat on the next day, if the problem persists."

[YEA] 09/01/2009: Amanda from Osburn, Idaho writes: "I learned this from my great grandmother who used it all the time.
If you have problems with diarrhea take two cups of whole milk (IT HAS TO BE WHOLE MILK) and boil it to a rolling boil. (It takes a long time to get to boil, but once it does...it will boil over so watch it close). Let the milk cool and as it cools it forms a skim over the top of the milk, peel it off and drink it.
It works guaranteed. But as always if you continue to have problems see a dr."

My family has been using this remedy for years and years. It really works!!! This remedy is used when you have a bad case of diarrhea. Just take at least 3Tbsp. of pickle juice (from the regular plain Dill Pickles jar) and right away you'll start to feel better and you won't have to worry about running to the bathroom. It really works wonders!!! Good Luck!!!"

Stopping the medication didn't help and eating a simpler diet didn't help. I started taking a teaspoon of psyllium husk in a glass of water every day. Within 48 hours the diarrhea and most of the gas were gone. I plan to continue with the psyllium for a while. Thank goodness for small miracles!"

[YEA] 03/04/2008: Jacob from Bartlett, IL writes: "Hi One remedy I have used consistently since childhood is one I learnt from my mother. Its a simple South-Indian remedy.
Heat 1 teaspoon of sesame seeds in a pan till it starts popping. Once it starts popping nicely and starts giving out smoke, add half glass of water and let it boil for a few minutes. Cool and filter the liquid. Drinking this pale yellow liquid has been the most effective cure for diarhhea that I have seen. You can repeat it once more."

Bananas
Rice
Applesauce
Toast
Tea
Obviously as plain as you can tolerate... I found the best meal (tolerable) was plain rice (obviously cooked), plain toast, and chamomile tee... bananas for "snacks"
Within 24 hours my daughter's (then 2yo) and mine had stopped. We were also nauseated and within 2 days, or 24 hours after the "runs" stopped, we were able to tolerate soup... then other things"

[YEA] 03/03/2008: John Sebastian from Chicago, IL writes: "Free (though bizarre) Remedy for Diarrhea. I have discovered that the best immediate cure for diarrhea is masturbation. I'd rather not go into detail about how I found this out, but it works. I think it has something to do with the contraction of the sphincter upon ejaculation. I can only imagine that no one else has discovered this, because it's probably the last thing anyone would think to do when they have indigestion. I have no proof that it works with females, as my wife has been reluctant to try it. But for guys like myself, you'll never need to drink Pepto again."

02/24/2009: Yvonne from Brownsville, TX, USA writes: "Question: I have read several of the suggested remedies for diarrhea, which is 1 teaspoon of turmeric spice powder in a hot cup of water once a day. Some of the people noticed a difference within two to three days. My question is along with the turmeric tea once a day, I noticed that no one has mentioned what type of diet they followed? Could Ted or some of the people that have used this method answer as to what they ate? Do you drink the turmeric tea on the first day and follow a liquid diet for one to three days or what did everyone do or eat? I have a friend that has had diarrhea for two weeks and none of the over the counter products have worked. Could someone please answer?
I stumbled onto this site today and I think that it is wonderful that so many people have been helped. I am hoping to be able to help my friend. Thank you, Yvonne from Brownsville, TX."

[YEA] 01/19/2009: Ben from Austin, TX writes: "Diarrhea with Turmeric Powder: I had just gotten back from a 2 week trip in New Mexico and without thinking, I immediately ate two greasy Tex-Mex meals back to back. Needless to say, I had diarrhea that followed me for almost a week. I might have carried a bug back with me from MEX, I'm not sure of the source. I tried 1 tsp of Turmeric powder with a glass of water one night, and the following day I was already improving. Just for safe measures I went ahead and took another tsp the next day, and it was completely gone the following day, after only taking 2 doses!"

10/03/2008: Michele from Melbourne, Florida writes: "This will probably stump everyone, but I have had bad 'rhea for over 20 years. It has hindered my life, in a way, that I won't date or travel with anyone. I've been to the doctor and a few days ago given a prescription for a stomache infection because I was cramping. Medication is done and I still have the rhea and the cramping. I have not eaten or drank a thing today and it started out semi-solid and within 4 trips to the bathroom, it slowly went right back to the 'rhea. I can't even tell you how this has taken over my life. I am afraid to go places and when I do, I know where the bathrooms are on my route. PLUS, I have now gotten as low as buying adult diapers and bringing extra clothes with me even when traveling within my own town. I am going to try the Tumeric but I'd like to know, is it good for just a day or will it keep it away?"
10/03/2008: Crystal from New York, NY replies: "It sounds like Crohn's disease. My sister suffers from this, so I am somewhat familiar with what you're going through. Unfortunately, my sister hasn't found any natural treatment for it and is on medication. I guess it's not the best thing for your body, but it stops the diarrhea and at least she can eat a normal diet. I wish you the best."
10/07/2008: Sandy from Bangalore, India replies: "I had a stomach problem similar to yours some years ago (most things I ate gave me a terrible stomach ache and diarrhea.). I suffered from this condition for more than an year, and did not find relief with allopathic treatment. Finally what cured me completely is Ayurvedic treatment. It was a simple treatment and gave me complete relief in a few weeks.
The ayurvedic treatment just comprised of having a couple of medicines (one kashayam(potion) and 1 leham(a paste)) couple of times a day for around 3 months. The kashayam was to clear out infections and soothe the stomach, whereas the leham was to aid digestion. After 3 months, I was given another leham to strengthen the stomach.I found relief right from the first few weeks. The treatment was very simple. The brand of Ayurvedic medicine that I used was 'Kotakkal Arya Vaidya Shala'.
Apart from trying ayurvedic medicine, you could do yoga pranayam also, particularly Kapalbhati pranayam (start by doing for 2 mins, then increase gradually according to comfort and do daily for 20 minutes.) Here is the video link to see how it is done:
http://knowyoga.org/tiki-index.php?page=Kapal Bhati Pranayam
Good luck! Do post back on what cured you."
06/15/2009: Sarah from Los Angeles, CA replies: "WEll- I think the first response about Crohn's disease sounds right- know people that have it and basically they can't eat anything with fat or oil in it... various things with this disease you can't digest, so it goes straight through. Also- I had a boyfriend once who had this problem and turns out his was b/c of food allergies and also lactose intolerance. Try playing with your diet to see if anything specifically triggers it... also- you should try to up your potassium intake. Good luck!"
06/17/2009: MissLady007 from Gary, IN replies: "This post is in response to the person who has suffered with bad diarrhea and cramps for 20 years. I saw a program about mystery illnesses on TLC and the woman suffered from bad cramps and diarrhea since she began puberty. Her body was missing a protein and when she began puberty, her hormones triggered edema in various parts of her body. The inflammation in her body caused severe cramps and diarrhea for years. I hope I gave you enough to perhaps google it or find the show..Your case sounds eerily similar. She received some type of simple treatment that has held the illness at bay. It is also hereditary."
06/18/2009: Shabier from Pietersburg, South Africa replies: "Dear Michele
Sorry to read about your problem. I had a similar problem for many months. Doc's meds didn't work. I started taking one tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar in half cup water every moring before breakfast. It works like a bomb. Excellent remedy. Try it. you may need it before each meal. Start, and put your trust in God! It must work! Good luck!"
06/20/2009: Candy from Fort Madison, Iowa replies: "i had the same thing, lasted for a couple years. i lost weight like crazy and my family finally forced me to go to the doctor. He wanted to put me on hormone therapy and anti-depressants!! The only thing I was depressed about was having diarrhea 24/7. !!! SOOO, I came home, got on the internet, and read every thing i could find about bowel problems. I discovered probiotics was one thing that helped me. Of course I asked God to help me in my search, and He did. Suggest you do the same. Believe me, I know what you are going through. Hope this helps."
11/19/2009: Shackelmom from Cagayan De Oro, Philippines replies: "In response to Michele from Melbourne, Florida, It does sounds like Crohn's, and there is a natural way to keep these symptoms completely under contol. It is called the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. My niece has this and has been living a normal life for six years, and has given birth to two healthy babies. Go to her website: http://nomorecrohns.com/default.aspx for plenty of excellent information. This diet is good for anyone with gut problems."

[YEA] 09/23/2008: James from Summit, NJ writes: "Recently I went to India. When I returned I started to have diarrhea. I thought it would go away in a day or two but it did not. After five days of misery I went to the CVS and bought keopectate. Didn't work. I tried a vegetable diet, sea salt, apple cider vinegar, nothing worked. Now it's ten days and I'm fifteen pounds lighter, weak, and finding it hard to keep hydrated not to mention that going to the bathroom was now agony. I was ready to go to my doctor/hospital.
My wife who was still in India told me to take Tumeric. There was a big container of it so I mixed a heaping teaspoon in a glass of water and drank it down. Slightly bitter but I liked the taste. The next morning I took another dose and that was it. My stomach settled right down and a day later it was gone. Really amazing."
