[YEA]  06/16/2007: Fritz from Downers Grove, Illinois writes: "First, I want to say that ACV worked like a charm on my recurrent mouth cankers, and using a toothpaste w/out SLS keeps most from recurring. Second, I want to address Ted in Mt. Horeb, Wisc and his Nay vote on ACV: I too had what Ted talks about, but it turned out to be a tumor, which eventually turned cancerous. He may want to keep an eye on that mouth sore."

[YEA]  06/02/2007: Angie from colorado springs, co writes: "I am so glad I found this site! I had a terrible canker sore on the side of my tongue that kept hitting my molars, could barely eat or talk it hurt. I put Bragg's apple cider vinegar on a qtip and held it on the sore for about 1 minute and then repeated twice and then again before bed. I did this 2 days in a row and it is now gone. I felt immediate relief and I could see it healing right away - it only took 2 days to heal and it has taken over a week before. Thanks for this article!"

[YEA]  03/31/2007: Todd from Long Beach, CA writes: "I've been suffering from a tough and very painful sore for over a week. It made me irritable because I couldn't eat, sleep, talk or even smile. I tried Hydrogen Peroxide, Zilactin-B (made it worst to me), wet tea bag to no avail. What worked? Holding my head to let a tablespoon of ACV sit on the sore for about 30 seconds, spit then repeat. The healing began immediately. It is amazing and I'm a happy person again!"

Horeb, WI writes: "I don't know what you people are smoking, but Apple Cider Vinegar doesn't heal canker sores at all, it hurts to use it at first and the relief is only temporary. I actually started to get more Canker Sores from using it. Why do you think an acid is going to help when eating acidic foods is one of the causes?"

[YEA]  Tara from Tampa, FL writes: "For the quickest relief of canker sores (don't know about cold sores), take a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar and put in your mouth. Then push it to the side of the sore, or hold your head so the liquid sits on the sore. Keep it in your mouth for as long as you can stand it. Then spit it out and repeat once. You will have relief within a few minutes of doing this, and your mouth will feel clean and tingly. Don't eat anything for about 30 minutes afterward because this may affect the healing pH balance that the vinegar created. The irritation will be gone within the hour, and the damaged tissue will have begun to heal (you can feel it with your tongue!"

[YEA]  01/13/2010: Gloria from Santa Rosa, Ca writes: "Cayenne and ACV for Canker Sores

I recently had an awful canker sore and it was 4am and couldn't sleep because the pain bothered me. I remembered reading on Earthclinic about a canker sore remedy, but I couldn't remember if it was with ACV or Cayenne pepper (both are my go to ingredients when I'm sick/sore throat) so I decided to use both! I dipped a Q-tip in ACV then sprinkled cayenne pepper on it and applied it directly to the canker sore. It stung at first, but the cayenne helped relieve the pain, and both seemed to help the sore tremendously! I woke up, and the pain was gone and it is now evening and I forgot I even had it!"

ALMOST cant even eat... I took off the rubberlike coating of the aspirin and shook out the powder then set it directly on the canker sore. VERY painful for a moment.... But its a good way to stop the pain of the ulcer :)"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  08/01/2011: Jill67 from Youngsville, Nc, Us writes: "This does help immensely. I recently developed a mouth full of sores. Talk about pain. I'm still not sure what caused this because I never get them. I don't think it actually "cures" them, but it makes them feel better right away. I just let one dissolve in my mouth as close to the sore as possbile. No need to make a paste as aspirin dissolves very easily."

04/02/2010: Cynthia from Jacksonville, Alabama writes: "Thanks so much for this site! I wish I had it years ago and would have endured a lot less suffering!

I tried the aspirin on the canker and it worked beautifully! I had one between my gum and my lip. I stuck an aspirin on it as per the various ppl's posts and let it sit for about 30 mins. The surrounding skin felt a little funny for awhile but the canker itself seemed to be gone completely. It was definately worth it. It's like it just shriveled up and closed up. Boy what a miracle! This site is a Godsend- thank you everybody! "

I tried the ACV as it is quite a cure-all, but it only stung and the sore was still very tender an hour later. I decided to try the asprin remedy - I bit it in half and put the powder on the sore. Within 10 minutes the pain was gone. I am now eating and drinking and can not feel it anymore at all. WOW! I recommend the asprin remedy to cure canker sores!"

[YEA]  01/23/2010: Angie from Hambleton, Wv writes: "I was at work and within one hour I went from fine to unable to speak without a lisp, unable to swallow, unable to eat, and in severe pain from my tongue down through my throat. The culprit was what I call a canker sore on the side of my tongue. I looked up remedies on this site and had planned to use the apple cider vinegar, but could not find any. However, I did have some baby aspirin. I used one 81mg baby aspirin and held it on the sore for as long as it lasted. I felt much, much better, but still had some irritation. I used another baby aspirin on it before I went to bed and by morning, NO PAIN at all!"

[YEA]  09/26/2009: Marc from Surey, Bc, canada writes: "Cure for canker sore. Finally after 25 years of trying different products/natural remedies/prescription drugs, I have found the only things that has worked for me to take the pain away from canker sore. Last week, I had a very large sore on my inner lip which was causing me extreme pain to the point were I couldn't eat or talk. I decided to crush a baby Aspirin and put it on my sore for 10 minutes before eating dinner and 10 more minutes at bed time. Well, to my complete disbelief, the pain was gone and never came back. Right afer the application I looked at my sore and it was covered with a white film of skin like materiel. It was almost like if the Aspirin had cauterized my canker sore and burnt the nerves in and around it. The sore took a few more days to heal completely but the pain never came back. That is by far the most wonderful product that I have ever used for canker sore. I can't believe I have suffered for so many years before finding that treatment. Word of advice though. The acid in the Asprin could probably burn your gum, skin inside the mouth if you kept it in your mouth overnight. Don't use it longer than 10-15 minutes but please try it. It works big time."

[YEA]  05/28/2009: Misty from Lewistown, PA writes: "Aspirin is best remedy for soothing canker sores. I have been suffering from a canker sore for 2 days and just got so overwhelmed with the pain that I couldn't take it anymore. I used OTC medicines, but none really helped. I found this site and tried Alum first. It hurt a lot, but helped for about 20 minutes. The pain came back, but worse. After suffering for awhile I tried Apple Cider Vinegar. That hurt a lot too, and seemed to be helping, but again the pain returned. Finally I tried making the aspirin paste, and now my sore only hurts a little bit. The aspirin is definitely the best soothing agent for me. I hope this helps convince others to try it as well.

I crushed one aspirin tablet in a shot glass, added a few drops of water and let it sit for a few minutes. I then spread the paste on the sore, which is on the roof of my mouth. I tried to keep the area dry as possible, and so bit down on a wash cloth to soak up my saliva. After 10 minutes I noticed a definite change in the amount of pain I had, and 10 more minutes gave me complete relief."
