[YEA] Eric from Charleston, WV: "Since avoiding "all" foods that have "high-fructose corn syrup" or fructose/sucralose, I have had no breakouts. I also avoid milk and opt for USDA organic yogurt. High fructose corn syrup is in everything. I strongly believe that eliminating it along with milk and chocolate/sweets will help."
[YEA] 11/14/2012: Glamcat from Austin, Tx: "I am prone to hormonal acne. It started in my 30's. I absolutely CANNOT live without taking the DIM. I recently ran out of the DIM and my skin broke-out TERRIBLY - all sorts of zits including cystic - it was very depressing. As soon as I started back on the DIM my skin started to calm down - and within about 3 weeks it was totally clear again. I will not ever let myself run out of DIM ever again!!! Google this supplement to see if you think it will help you.
I can tell you now, that most acne, especially the hormonal type is definitely caused by what's going on INSIDE the body - and applying stuff topically is not going to do a whole lot - you need to treat from the inside.
I would not recommend Accutane/Roaccutane -- it's especially hard on the liver - a clean liver is ABSOLUTELY necessary for hormonal balance - the liver helps to detoxify hormones and eliminate them."
[YEA] 11/05/2012: Glamcat from San Francisco, Ca: "I've been taking DIM for about 1 year and I had become complacent, thinking it wasnt really doing anything for me anymore (probably because all of my other symptoms/issues had disappeared) - so when I ran out I didnt rush to replace it... OMG! What a mistake! That's when my skin reverted to the same state it was at 1 year ago! It only took 2 weeks without the stuff for my skin to start breaking out like crazy! As soon as I started taking it again, like the very next day my skin started to calm down, the inflammation really started to settle, the redness and anger of the zits really subsided, and each day they started fading - by 3 weeks back on it my skin was totally clear again. This reall showed me how DIM is essential to my clear skin since it seems to be due to estrogen dominance."
[NAY] 01/06/2008: Jen from Atlanta, GA: "I have found that i have a large amount of heavy metals which i believe is causing my acne. I found a natural way to detox this on www.mgoldmandds.com/detox1.htm. It starts with Glutathione which is in every cell in the body and we are often deficient of. So if it works I'll let you know. I found too many side effect of DMPS Chelation which is not FDA certified but is a chemical not natural. Thanks"Replies
03/02/2011: Kelly from Denton, Texas replies: "If you had side effects from DMPS:
1) make sure you have no amalgams before chelating
2) take plenty of antioxidants before, during and after chelation
3) Read Andrew Cutlers books on chelating (dosing every 3-4 hours)
4) Understand that symptoms on DMPS mostly prove that you have a problem
Any other method of chelating besides DMPS, DMSA, EDTA, or Alpha Lipoic Acid is mostly worthless. You can prove this to yourself through testing if you want to spend the money to do so."
[YEA] 01/03/2008: Kelly from Denton, Texas: "Having had moderate to slightly severe acne since puberty , I have tried it all short of Accutane. I became COMPLETELY acne free at age 40 when I started DMPS chelation for mercury poisoning. The treatments were a week apart and each time would worsen the acne right after the treatment but would then look great until my next treatment. Each treatment would make it worse then better until about the 5th or 6th treatment completely cleared it. That was 9 years ago. The doctor had no idea the Dmps would do this and I have not seen where it is mentioned to cure acne anywhere. Not sure if it is the sulphur in the medicine that did the job or the clearing of mercury from the gut. Either way this was a complete cure and the answer to many prayers."
[BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS] 12/06/2011: Jessi from Murrieta, Ca: "I have been using DMSO for acne and it's the only thing that has seemed to help reduce the inflammation and really help with my severe acne. It does make my skin very dry and flaky, but if I use an oil free moisturizer it seems ok.
I have been using the DMSO morning and night and I just roll it over my face before my other skin care products. There is a slight/mild tingle and stinging for about 5 mins. I am also using on top of the DMSO the Jan Marnin Bioglycolic Bioclear Lotion which I think is working well together with the DMSO. I'm not able to use Benzyol Peroxide because I am allergic to it, so the DMSO has been an amazing cure for my acne. I truly can't live with out it. If you are suffering from acne I would definitely recommend trying the DMSO. I use the roll on 70% DMSO 30% aloe or the 70% DMSO 30% distilled water. It's $10.00 on Amazon .:)"
[YEA] 10/02/2007: Jasmine from Tampa, Florida: "Everytime i feel like Im getting a blemish my mom tells me to put earwax on it and it seems to make it smaller and it doesnt hurt as much as it used to.It worked with me so it wont hurt for you guys to try it. :]"
[YEA] Franci from the UK: "Try whisking an egg in a glass bowl and smear onto your face using sliced raw potatoes. This is guaranteed to work for healthy, cleaner, spotless, softer skin. I tried it and gave it to all my friends who suffered acne and pimple problems and their skin looks great ! Go on, give it a go... suitable for all skin types."Replies
09/27/2008: Volene from Toronto, Ontario replies: "Hello, I am willing to try just about anything right about now.. The egg treatment for acne doesn't seem too hard to do. Would you be willing to share the exact procedure of how to do it and how long it should be left on the face .. should I do it once daily? Anything would help. I appreciate your time. Volene"
05/29/2009: Al from Long Island City, NY: "I can't vouch for this, but have heard anecdotally that raw egg whites applied on affected areas every day 10 minutes for week will cure acne. I don't have it but does anyone know about this? Just curious to know if it works and wanted to share it if it does."
[YEA] 12/02/2010: Susan from Saginaw, Mi: "I have been dealing with very bad acne for quite some time and nothing worked to get rid of it. The doctor wanted to put me on birth control, antibiotics and if that didn't work then accutane!! Anyways, I did not want to take any medication for it. My friend had heard that an allergy to dairy products could cause acne and she gave up dairy and her acne disappeared. I thought I would give it a try.. Ever since my last day drinking a glass of milk, I have not gotten any new zits. It's been a week and a half and my face is almost completely clear!! It is amazing!! I am 30 yrs old and have been dealing with this since I was a teenager. So it is definitely worth giving a try before trying antibiotics and stuff."Replies
[YEA] 12/15/2013: Ava from Los Angeles, California replies: "Yes! Totally! Eliminating dairy (for me anything from a cow - goat cheese and milk is ok) was the most important step I made towards clearing my acne. Try eliminating dairy and sugars - soft drinks (not good for you anyway! ), honey, candy, etc and watch your acne clear right up! Oh, and chocolate is a biggie, too! Chocolate makes me break out practically the second after I eat it!"
[YEA] 01/25/2012: Cindy from Torc, Nm: "I have been battling acne break outs for the last couple of years. I purchased ProActive and found that it only worked for a while and had to keep using it to keep clear skin. I broke out yesterday (1/25/12) and in desperation I grabbed the bag of Epsom Salt. I mixed 2 tsp of Epsom Salt to 3oz warm water and mixed it. I also took a few crystals on my index finger and applied them to the boils on my forehead. It is now (1/26/12) and the swelling and inflamation is almost gone. The area is no longer red, it is more pink and is almost gone!!!! I found this link in researching Epsom Salt and I thought I'd share my wonderful inexpensive remedy. Everyone is different, this worked for me!"
[YEA] 06/23/2011: Maxine from Polokwane, Limpopo, South Africa: "Thank you so much for giving me the oppurtunity to learn more about Epsom salts and its uses. My grandmother told me to put a pinch of Epsom salts in my tea every morning- that was about two monthes ago. As a young adult I struggle with acne terribly, and I hoped the Epsom salts would help. I now religiously drink every two cups of tea in the morning with epsom salts. My body has been detoxing since- Its interesting to know that when I do struggle with pimples, I find that they go away in a few days, not like previously, when they would last for months!"
10/17/2009: Anne from Thunder Bay, Ontario: "Epsom Salt baths for acne treatment
Hello : ) I am 31 years old and have been dealing with moderate acne since puberty. I have tried everything from popular name brand acne cleansers, hydrogen peroxide, tea tree oil, prescription acne cream, not wearing make-up, cutting sweets out of my diet, cutting junk food out of my diet, steam bathing the face, exfoliating facial cleansers, overnight acne treatment creams and birth control. Among all of those treatments, only staying on birth control seemed to make any real difference, however, it did not make the acne disappear entirely during menstruation.
I am now 20 weeks pregnant and the hormones have been wrecking even more havoc with the skin on my face since pregnancy. I also developed a rash on my tummy. As a result of reading many different solutions on the internet, I decided to give an Epsom Salt bath a try. I have been taking these baths each night for the last 4 nights and have seen remarkable improvements, such as:
- The little white bumps (that have been on the back of my upper arms since puberty) have almost disappeared altogether
- The rash on my tummy has disappeared entirely
- The few hard "under-skin" bumps/cysts on my face (which have stubbornly been there for a couple of months) have virtually disappeared
From my readings on the internet, bacteria (that causes acne) cannot be live in a salty environment; therefore, washing with the salt water kills the bacteria.
I have simply poured 1 to 2 cups of Epsom Salts into a full bath tub of warm/hot water and stirred the salt around in order to dissolve them into the water. I bathed for 10 to 15 minutes and rinsed my face a few times. I highly recommend this treatment to anyone with acne problems."
01/25/2012: Barbicristi from Desert Hot Springs, Ca replies: "Hey I would like to know where do you get the epsom salt?"
Essential Fatty Acids Oil
[YEA] 08/21/2011: Tammy from Fort Knox, Ky: "I've had terrible acne for 40 years. Everyone said it would go away after I got out of my teen years, but it never did. My face is just a mess of scars at this point, but I've learned to live with that. I've tried everything imaginable, from so many doctors, in so many states. I can't even begin to list all the things I did to treat my face.
Anyway, I want to say two things. I have developed halitosis from 25 years of being on antibiotics. It has destroyed my personal life. Antibiotics kill off your good bacteria, and I am suffering from an overabundance of resistent bad bacteria, that I can't see seem to recolonize. What makes matters worse is all those pills didn't even make my acne go away, but I took it anyway since I had to do something. Please don't make the same mistake...
After almost 40 years, I discovered something that finally works. It is Essential Fatty Acids Oil. Taken daily, at one tablespoon for every 50 pounds of body weight, mixed in juice is what is needed. It's expensive, at $38 a bottle, and has to be refrigerated. (Buy it early in the summer so it doesn't get exposed to high temps while shipping). It took about a month for the results to show up, and I went off once for a few months, and began looking older and breaking out again. This time, I'm on it to stay. Won't need another round of accutane again, like my doctor was suggesting."Replies
08/21/2011: Courtney from Granite Bay, Ca replies: "Have you tried probiotics? They will get rid of the bad bacteria, and bring good bacteria. There are over-the-counter brands sold at all of the big chain pharmacies. (That's not where I get mine, but it's a place for you to start.)
I bet it would work! :)"
09/09/2011: Finley from Leawood, Ks replies: "I also had a face full of scars, but have been using derma roller for about one year with amazing improvement. I purchase rollers from OWNDOC web site where they are very fairly priced."
[YEA] 05/17/2008: Elisabeth from Sommerset, Colorado: "Lavender, tea tree and rosemary essential oils: I had mild cases of acne as a teenager but as an adult nearing 35, I broke out into terrible cystic acne all of the sudden. I tried everything but accutane, nothing would get rid of it and some things made it worse (like retin-a). A friend finally suggested this remedy and I was completely clear within two weeks-no kidding. The recipe is two to three drops each of Lavender, tea tree and rosemary essential oils in a small spray bottle of distilled water(such as a trial size hairspray bottle. Be sure to wash it out well first). Shake it up each time you use it. Spray it on a clean, dry face every morning and night. Let it air dry on your face. Keep the oils and the spray bottle in a cool dark place like a drawer or medicine cabinet, away from light and heat or the oils won't stay "true" for very long. I have been doing this for over ten years- I have added other oils as I have gotten older that are good for aging skin, like frankinsense and geranium-but I look fresh and young still and my skin is like a babie's soft pink bottom. This was my little miracle and there are absolutely no side effects from this. My family all use this remedy, I have given it to our teenage daughters and thier girlfriends who have breakouts and everyone is amazed at how such simplicity works such wonders! This is also great for anyone at any age who just wants to have softer and much more radiant skin."
