POVIDONE IODINE

[YEA] 12/19/2007: Patricia from Laguna Niguel, CA writes: "I love this website! Lots of wonderful home remedies. I read about Iodine and went on ebay- I bought Povidone- Iodine first to try, and painted myself with it over every problem area of my skin- the colors were disappearing in 15 minutes or so. The bottle says for external use only and do not apply it over large areas of the skin. Well, I have not tried take it internally yet, but as I understand it, Povidone is used for prep surgeries, which means it is in contact with blood and internal organs. After my first application on small areas, I noticed that the morning after I could see significant improvement on my skin where there used to be acne-like pumps that I had for several years- some shrank and some went away. I then started using it on all scars and it seems to make them more smooth and heal better. Upon seeing that, I asked my husband to paint me all over my back- dry, flaky skin with red irritable spots- and over night, they became more smooth. So I started to use it more and more, sometimes it stains my clothes, but my skin seemed to be healing. Don't know if that is also indication of my iodine deficiency. I wonder if it works any differently from Lugol's. I do have signs of low thyroid function, like cold intolerance, poor circulation. Can you tell me if I can take the Povidone internally? How is it different from Lugol's?"

[YEA] 07/19/2008: Yvonne Vefik from Rocklin, CA writes: "After 10 years of suffering from food allergies.. and many prayers to God, I discovered Acidolphilus quite by accident. I broke out in large boil like bumps all over my face when ever I ate any dairy products. Milk, ice cream, cheese and yogart was elimnated from my diet. I constantly had antibiotic prescriptions from doctors for whenever I broke out.I was looking for an allergy cure and started taking acidolphilus. It cured my food allergies and now I enjoy ice cream and milk again! It took about 30 days to completely clear my face and then I kept taking it for a year. And it's cheap! You can buy it at Walmart. What I discovered after doing research is that when you take too many antibiotics, it kills all of your bad and GOOD BACTERIA. SO the acidolphilus restored my good bacteria to fight infections!!! HOPE THIS HELPS EVERYONE! Oh! I sugggested this to my young teenager daughter-in-law who had pimples and she said her face cleared up right away and now she is also using it regularly!! MAY GOD BLESS ALL WHO READ THIS!"

[YEA] 07/08/2007: Emily from Pearland, TX writes: "I have been through so many acne treatments (including 2 rounds of accutane) yet I was still getting cysts and spots everyday. I was also having recurrent yeast infections every month. I got off birth control which helped for a while. THEN i started using apple cider vinegar 3x a day, and an antifungal with oregano oil, pau d'arco, caprylic oil etc. Those helped a lot , but I was still getting very hard and painful bumps. What I believed helped me to get rid of my acne was adding probiotics of very meal. I make my own kombucha, kefir and kimchi and they have done wonders for my whole body including the yeast problem. They are also very cheap!"

[YEA] Bill from Fremont, CA writes: "Something that works great for my skin is to open one capsule of Bifido Factor by Natren in a small amount of lukewarm filtered (non-chlorine) water and drink it down. Do this 3x/day preferably before meals. This friendly bacteria helps to heal the digestive system which in turn has an amazing effect on the skin. This remedy is a little more expensive but it better addresses the underlying problem."

03/02/2011: Suzanna from New York, Ny writes: "Please help! I am a 31 year old woman that has been struggling with severe cystic, acne vulgars, and dermatitis for as long as I can possibly remember. A few days ago I noticed what seems like a rash covering my enrtire face. The pimples are small and few of them have pus inside, non of them look like cysts but they are ALL over my face. There doesnt seem to be a spot that they missed (my forhead, cheeks, nose, chin EVERYWHERE).
I have tried every single over the counter medication humanly possible. My dermatologist is on my speed dial. I have seen, over 10 different dermatologists in my teens and adult life who prescribed every antibiotic and cream on the market. Unfortunatly I didnt know any better and took accutane as well. NOTHING is helping, it clears up for a while but somehow always retuns and with a vengence.
I am now realizing that antibiotics and creams are not the right approach and im trying to fight this naturally because I only now understand that it is probably something inside my body that is causing these horrible break outs. I have tried taking a hair and skin multi vitamin that has 1000IU vitamin A, Biotin 3200 mcg, MSM 800 mg and Silicon 10mg (so far not really helping), tonight I tried Manuka Honey 20 as an acne mask for 45 min, I bought apple cider vinger to use as a toner. If anyone would please help me with a regiment. I do not want to take any more pills (although every doctor that I see wont let me walk out of their office without a prescription of some sort in hand).
I know that fighting acne is a tough battle, it often makes me really upset to the point where I feel embarrased walking out of my house. I dont know what else to do. So I am asking for your help.
If someone here could give me a treatment to try for a few weeks (step by step would be fantastic) I would truly be greatful. Any help, daily vitamins, what to wash my face with, what to moisturize with, what masks to use, would help me more than I can express. So please if anything worked for you, please share it with me. Thank you so much!!!!!"
03/03/2011: Elizabeth from Nashville, Tn replies: "Hi! I posted a response to someone else a couple days ago and I think it could help you as well. I started breaking out in PD around my nose and mouth and had cystic acne pop up on my cheeks. I started this protocal and it's improved greatly. I hope it helps you too! God Bless!
First I would start with an all natural lye soap or pine tar soap to deeply cleanse and wash the oil away. Get a cottonball and dip it in a solution of one half ACV and one half H202. Rub this into the skin in a circular motion, making sure to saturate the whole face. Let air dry and then apply oil free moisturizer with a couple drops of tea tree oil. Lastly, use a sulfur acne mask, like end-zit or proactive, and dab this on every pimple and zit you see. Leave on all night.
Also, I would invest in some Salicyclic Acid peels. You can buy it online.. Just google under "skin labratories" and it should bring the site up. I use the 20% strength peel once a week for a couple weeks and than take a break for a month or so, and then do it again, and so on and so on. I think I pay $18 and the bottle lasts about 3-4 months or so.
I still break out slightly but it's not nearly as bad, and it's much more managable. An added bonus is that the scars are fading nicely and I have much smoother skin."
03/04/2011: Llfiles from West Linn, Oregon replies: "Help for severe acne:
I do have a suggestion. Years ago I was diagnosed with acne on my back. Never could wear strappy clothes.
Do a colon cleanse along with a anti-parasite program. There are many out there but I recommend Colonix. I have no affiliation, it is simply the easiest and most effective.
You really do not have to change your diet much(of course, you would want to eliminate sugar, refined carbs and chemically laden foods, eat lots of fresh organic fruits and vegetables, lean meats). Drink lots of water and green tea.
Keep us posted. Good luck, I know what a burden it is to have skin problems."
03/05/2011: Granny Laura from Waco, Tx Usa replies: "This may not be all that much help, depending on where you live. My oldest son bad acne on his back during high school. Then one spring the choir he belonged to went to the coast for contests. He spent as much time in 2-3 days in the salt water as he could as he loves water sports, wearing a white tee shirt to keep his back from burning. When he got home his back peeled some (though not burned) and he never had acne on his back again, his face was much improved. That was cheap and effective!"

02/25/2011: Kelsey from Toronto, Ontario, Canada writes: "Hi. I have severe acne on my face and on my back. My parent also has acne which makes sense that I have them. I was wondering if there are any home remedies or products at the drug store without the need of prescripion to use to get rid of the acne and their scars. I also want a product that is easy to use because I don't have time to fuss around my face. The acne leaves a scar without the help of picking at it. My skin is very poor at clearing up the scars. Some of my scars even take more than a year to clear up. So, I hope you can help me. Please and thank you."
Replies02/26/2011: Sue M. from Worden, Il. Usa replies: "If you get virgin coconut oil (purchased at your local health food store) and after washing your face, pat dry and while slightly moist, rub in a small amount of VCO. My mom had a place on the top of her nose, in the middle that would not heal and I gave her some VCO to use. Within 2 weeks, it had healed and the scar is barely visable. I used to suffer from large pores and blackheads with the breakouts. This is a cooling oil and therefore, is drying. So it is a healing oil. Just type in "beautiful skin remedies" on this website and read what everyone has to say about VCO."

11/21/2009: Maeryn from Calgary, Ab writes: "A friend of mine has terrible (TERRIBLE) acne all across his face, neck, shoulders, and back. Its not worms. He cannot take any sort of med because it will mess up the growth plates where his arm was operated on a few years ago. I am currently in the process of compiling a treatment for him based on organic and alternative medicines (cleansing him from the inside out. )Do you have any advice for a facial / skin mask? I'm getting into nutritional therapy, so this stuff fascinates me."
Replies11/21/2009: Lisa from Thousand Oaks, Ca, USA replies: "Maeryn, If alternative and nutritional therapy are of interest to you, I would highly recommend watching David Wolfe, Daniel Vitalis, Gabriel Cousens on youtube which will lead you to other amazing people pioneering this field. There are internet shows you can subscribe too as well that are incredibly informative as well. This is info that wasn't easy to find before. I love, love, love it! Hope this helps. Lisa"
11/21/2009: Maeryn from Calgary, Ab replies: "Hi Dj,
His parents gave him over-active oil glads, and huge pores. He does cardio regularly, but he also showers often. I am certainly looking into organic cleansers. epsom salts...I will find a soft bristle brush for his skin while he's bathing. I'd rather a brush because its more direct vs a loofah or a sponge.
I will also be setting up an ideal cleansing diet for him, all over... for the colon and liver, kidneys, digestive trackt...everything. so that should help since he doesn't eat properly.based around fruits and veggies. complex carbs. regarding meats: organic eggs, soy milk (maybe), fish, chicken. (id rather not the red meats for him..lets cut out the chemicals!!!)
with more research, I'm going to conjure up an ideal skin mask with charcoal he can use every night. (until the acne is controllable, or disappeared, he will only have to use it once or twice a week)
magnesium and potassium supplements sound great! Although having him on lots of vitamins is ideal, I'm a little iffy in case he may react to a certain vitamin or mineral...so, yes...use only a few supplements at a time for recording measures sounds excellent :)
What is Oil pulling and ACV?
Definetly on the Castor Oil. I've been hearing nothing but good reviews about it. if its not covered in acne, its scarred.
He also has gigantic cysts under his skin too...any ideas for those?
I'm also looking at Borax instead of soap, and mixing some of the Borax into some organic shampoo or homemade shampoo recipe.
did some quick research on your acidophilus and it sounds great :) I will keep that in mind...
I think these ideas are slowly forming :D thanks for your ideas ^_^"
EC: Oil Pulling: http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/oil_pulling.html
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV): http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/acvinegar.html
11/22/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hello Maeryn from Calgary, Ab,
First may I suggest that you research potassium iodide and pull up the reference from Tahoma Clinic which is written by Dr. Jonathan Wright, which you can print out to keep handy for reference to it. According to everything I have read on this about the only contraindication I have seen for potassium iodide is an allergy to iodine or to shellfish. Since iodine is required for your thyroid to function (along with other parts of our anatomy), I don't classify this as a medicine, but rather a necessity for health the same as sodium, calcium, potassium, selenium and all the vitamins and minerals. Let's not forget another very important mineral that most of us are said to be low on these days - magnesium. Read about the transdermal method in EC (and read Deirdre's personal experience and the source she found for magnesium chloride). IMVA also has some interesting reading on this. If you have Dollar Tree's or Deal's where you live, a 2 lb box of Epsom Salts (magnesium sulfate) is $l and I love the way putting about a pound of it in my bath water makes me feel after a day of working outside.
Next, I have a question. Did he develop this severe acne before or after all the antibiotics before and/or after the surgery? If the answer is before, but much more severe after the surgery or developed after the surgery, then the alternative doctor mentioned above has the theory that we should look to our digestive trace when we develop skin problems such as acne and rosacea. This seems to make sense, thus if the problem is decrease in producing hydrochloric acid in the stomach, then a couple of drops of SSKI (saturated solution of potassium iodide) or Lugol's solution, which is pretty much the same formula aids the stomach in producing the needed HCl acid. Another consideration is the lack of the good guys in the colon being killed off by antibiotics, which calls for Probiotics to replace them. You can either purchase Probiotics or make your own by pulling recipes for cultured cabbage or the Asian's Kimchi off the internet. The cultured cabbage isn't the best tasting stuff in the world but it is supposed to be great for replacing the good guys in the gut. Also suggest Vitamin D3 5000 IU's daily.
As for the topical stuff, there are all kinds of things to try mixing for a facial or ointment beginning with bentonite clay, ACV, olive oil, mineral oil, castor oil, coconut oil, honey, cucumbers, buttermilk, etc. but you can also put a few drops of SSKI/Lugol's solution in your concoction. You might try one mixture for 2 weeks and if no sign of improvement vary your formula a little bit and give it a 2 week trial and please keep your trials/formulas written down so you can share with EC on which ones worked the best.
Another thought, too. Have you heard about the "Chicago Face Lift"? Several years back folks with hemorrhoids couldn't find Preparation H ointment because it seems someone in Chicago started a fad of using it for their face. Funny, but after all they advertise that it shrinks swollen membranes and smooths. The next time you go to the pharmacy look at the ingredients - it's been awhile since I did but I think it listed shark oil among other things which should be an excellent source of vitamin A and vitamins A & D are two very healing ones. In fact the best hemorrhoidal suppositories I ever found was A&D Hemorrhoid Suppositories which disappeared from the market 15 or more years ago (probably because they were so effective that orthodox medicine was losing a lot of money). If you find nothing obnoxious (drugs) in the current Prep H, you might take a shortcut and use it for a base for your concoctions."
11/23/2009: Merryanne from Orange City, Florida, USA replies: "To Joyce in TN,,I really liked your suggestion for the face creams with the preparation h,,I plan on using it with some cocunut oil,,I was reading on here that a little VCO under the eyes takes away the shadows,,I have used it three times and it is lighter,,but a little green pea size just melts and runs every where,,so i'm going to mix the two,,,we'll see what happens,,,Merryanne in FL"
11/23/2009: Merryanne from Orange City, Florida, USA replies: "Sounds like your doing some good things,,,For cyst you might want to use turmeric,,,or eat a lot of garlic, both help heal and clear up internal infection,,there is good information listed in EC files. When I use Borax powder I run it threw my coffee grinder and make it powder,,it mixes and melts great, and I use it all over with my shower gel about three times a week. Be sure and read the files on boils, and files on garlic, and turmeric these are very good and I eat some every day. if you have never cooked with turmeric you are in for a treat,,I plan some surprises this coming holidays with it. [QUESTION] 09/08/2009: T from Chicago, Il writes: "I have a question for anybody that might know. You know when you squeeze your nose up and all that stuff comes up? Well I seem to have that all over my face. What is that called, is it considered acne? They never go away so I squeeze them (seems like the only way to get rid of them) and something always come out but then I get holes and spots. I also have pimples and just overall dull, bad, holey, spotted skin. Please email me if your willing to help me.
Creams, herbs, vitamins, techniques, good local doctor anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys."
Replies09/09/2009: Carmen from Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia replies: "in response to your posting, sounds like clogged pores (although there must be a reason for the extent of your condition) but all I know for certain STOP squeezing. I have had great success from the use of some products mentioned here. I wash regularly with borax (huge difference) often I use a cotton ball to apply H202 (huge difference) and ACV. When in need of a moisturizer I use organic coconut oil or (sometimes) caster oil. I avoid all scented products (soap, moisturizer, etc) these changes have helped my skin :) hope it helps for you."
09/09/2009: T from Chicago, IL replies: "Thanks alot Carmen. Will definitely try the borax. But do I mix the peroxide and acv? I'm not on any meds if that comment was to me. I just take a multivitamin because it just looks like my skin is missing something. Thanks again and more suggestions is always welcome."
09/10/2009: Carmen from Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia replies: "Hey there, I do not mix the ACV & H2O2 together. The way I see it application takes no time at all and each product is doing a different job all on its own. Just another hint, I wear make-up and borax is NOT a good eye make up remover but the organic coconut oil is fantastic!!! After applying the CO I take a tissue to remove the oil and the make-up goes with it.:)"

[QUESTION] 05/19/2009: KT from Irvine, CA writes: "Please consider making a 3rd Acne category called Acne Scars, it's a whole different problem in itself and Acne fighting suggestions may or may not heal the old scars. I am sure many people will benefit from this category who are dealing with the scars of Old Acne. Thanks Earth Clinic."
Replies05/21/2009: Anonymous from Anonymous, USA replies: "From the acne message board:
"28 year old female here who has been using MSM pills/cream on and off for almost 4 years now. And let me tell you how fantastic it is! The cream can help things like eczema and psoriasis like nothing I've ever seen, it's great for using all over your body and your face and if you live in Canada, can be picked up at any local W_____. I recommend N____ Health Products MSM cream. It's about $12 for a 125 mL bottle, will last you forever because it can be taken sparingly and even if your local W_____ doesn't carry it, they will order it for you! Or you can call their toll-free # to get i. I don't work for N____, but I think I'm their biggest cheerleader LOL.
As for the pills, I can tell you this: I had moderate cystic acne in my early 20's and a lot of blackheads, so I decided to start taking the pills. I went to G__ and bought the 1000mg pills and started off at 3 grams per day. Keep in mind I researched up and down before doing so and understood that up to 4 grams is perfectly healthy and apparently the only side-effect past 10 grams/day was diarrhea. Because your body naturally produces it, you're just giving it a super boost, it has never harmed me in any way. In addition to helping my skin clear up (not perfectly, but what a vast improvement), my hair and nails are also healthier and grow a lot faster.
What I would recommend as a whole regimen to start is 2 grams of MSM pills per day, 2 grams of D'Pantothenic Acid per day (vitamin B5), and using the cream as often as possible. I started seeing results on 3 grams of each (though if you're gun-shy, do 2 grams) within 2 weeks. And when I added the cream to the mix, I was like a new person!
The only thing I can't say it did was reduce my pore size or get rid of the annoying deeply embedded blackheads, so I do a Vitalize peel every 18 months now for those, but that's a WHOLE other thread LOL. Hope this helps, I'd stick with it, it's worth it!"

[YEA] 01/25/2007: Jennifer from Foley, AL writes: "Fill your sink up, about 1/4, with warm water. Then pour some salt in it. Soak cotton ball in it for 30 minutes and swish it around, making sure its all salty. Squeeze out the cooton ball and apply on the pimple. If your face doesnt start to tingle, add more salt to the cotton ball. When your face does start tingling, push down for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, DON'T WASH THE SALT OFF YOUR FACE. Apply honey on your face and leave on for 15 minutes. When 15 minutes is up, rinse off and apply a dab of toothpaste and leave on overnight."

SANDALWOOD AND ROSE WATER

[YEA] 03/07/2009: Jackie from Miami, Florida, US writes: "Sandalwood, Rose Water and Warm Water: I have very oily skin and big pores which leads to blackheads. My mom told me about this remedy. Take a spoon of sandalwood powder, add a little rose water to it, making it pasty and apply it to your face. Once the mask dries up, wash it with warm water. Do this once a week. Each day, get a small clean white towel, soak it with warm water and place the towel on your face. This will soften both the skin and the material blocking the pores. Wipe gently. This has help brighten my face and my pores look smaller. I also make sure to change my pillow case often (using cotton pillow cases) and I keep my hair away from my face to prevent them from coming back. I hope this can help everyone else as it did for me. Good luck!"

SHALINI'S ACNE REMEDIES

[YEA] 09/12/2009: Shalini from Petaling Jaya, Malaysia writes: "First of all, thanks very much to Earthclinic for all your help!
I've been struggling with acne for a long time, and after trying out some remedies from EC have found a combination that made a dramatic improvement in my skin. I was quite astonished at how fast it healed, compared to the turtle speed of most acne meds.
I've eliminated all soaps and medications, and am using only natural products. In the morning, I apply a baking soda mask for 5 minutes. It stings a lot, and be careful not to scrub, just leave it on. This disinfects your skin and gradually shrinks acne. At night, I apply a turmeric mask for an hour. Be careful with turmeric because it will stain - on my tanned skin it just blends in. To moisturise, I use coconut oil, less in the day and more at night.
I also take coconut oil internally, one tablespoon morning and night. I also take two tablespoons of granulated lecithin, and 3000mg of high quality fish oil. The fish oil showed me an overnight improvement, and even helped me sleep better.
Here's what didn't work: ACV is not my friend, unfortunately. Evening primrose oil did not work at all. Blackstrap molasses is incredibly helpful for my menstrual cycle, but again no difference in skin.
Hopefully this will help any acne sufferers out there, good luck!"

SILVER WATER, ZAPPER, HOT WATER

[YEA] 11/15/2007: Gabi from Czestochowa, Poland writes: "The best thing to kill all those ugly and painful things on our skin is #1 Alkaloidal Silver Water, #2 Dr Hulda's Clark Zapper and #3 hot water (hot shower) Silver water helps also heal burns (even those infected). When you apply SW to affected area it looks like nothing is happening but after couple of hrs pain subsides (boil, burn) . On second day you see that the boil doesn't get worse. usually 3rd day you start noticing that boil starts getting smaller. I practiced SW on all my friends with skin problems. It works, is cheap. It is wonderful cure on all kind of infected abrasions (with pas). I would never use antibiotic ointments! All you need is just 1-2 drops or gentle tap with the tip of your finger. I keep my SW in hair spray bottle. It produces very fine mist."

[YEA] 03/29/2009: Nature Lover from Grand Rapids, Michigan writes: "Background: I had a problem of adult acne for several years. I used to have at least 2-3 active zits over my face. I tried everything: OTC Acne products, ACV, H2O2, and went to a dermatologist for creams and Zyrtec. Then I cam across steam bath at my apartment complex. Within a week my skin was great, no acne problems for months! And then the Steam bath was out for repairs and my problem slowly crept back. So I bought a 'Steam facial' on Amazon for about $30 and it works almost just as great.
Measurements that worked for me: Steam bath/ steam facial: 10--15 minutes, three times a week. I make sure my face about 5 drops of sweat trickles down on the towel. I saw dramatic improvements within a week. In steam bath, I make sure the heat is enough to accelerate my heart without any pain or discomfort.
My results: I haven't used ANY skin medicines for 5 months and going strong! It also helps get rid of any cold/ cough symptoms. My wife saw her back-ache vanish.
I have used many remedies from this site and I thought I should share this very natural, no-chemicals-involved remedy with you."
03/29/2009: Tee from Chicago, IL replies: "I got a good question for everyone about acne. Does anyone know how to diminish those holes in your face sometimes associated with acne? Are there any foods, supplements, or techniques that can help with this."
03/31/2009: Rosy from Orlando, Fl replies: "This is for Tee from Chicago, I use baking soda to scrub my face and it helps so much with acne scars. I have the red forever blotches and they faded to almost nothing after scrubing with baking soda every night. An added bonus is that it makes my face less oily too. You could try to use a mixture of apple cider vinager and porixide to cleanse your face after wards, but beware that the h202 will bleach your hair and eyebrows."

[YEA] Jade from Staffordshire, UK writes: "I mixed 2 large straberries and 1/2 a peeled orange together mashed up. I then put it in the freezer until it was a block (usually put it in overnight). The small block should be wrapped in a cloth or towel and put on the affected area. This should be repeated 2 or 3 times per week and then you should notice a difference."

[YEA] 01/28/2011: Rw from Tazewell, Virginia writes: "My teenage son has been using _______'s sulfur soap for moderate acne and his face is now clear. Also helpful is a crushed aspirin mixed with a little bit of water rubbed on the face and rinsed off after a few minutes. Also the sulfur soap is to be left on the face a few minutes (works well to leave it on your face while you take the rest of your shower). This has been a very inexpensive and very effective remedy."

[YEA] 04/25/2008: Vinny from Atlanta, GA writes: "Hi, Besides taking Triple Fish Oils, Vitamin E, & Vitamin C to cure and prevent acne, I have now started taking Selenium, which is a very powerful antioxidant, and my acne is nearly cleared in just one day!!! I take more than it states on the bottle only because I know my body is in need of lots of anti-oxidants (but just don't over do it) Just as Ted stated, anti- oxidants will help tremendously with acne. I usually get all my products from GNC."
Replies08/30/2008: Lori from Phoenix, AZ replies: "To the person who wrote about Selenium as an antioxidant: I am glad that Selenium works for you, but PLEASE be careful not to take too much! It can be toxic. Find out from your doctor what the max is. God bless!"

[YEA] 05/06/2007: Anna from Sacramento, CA writes: "My daughter had severe acne as a teenager and saw three different dermatologist giving her various medications that hardly made a difference. I read that often times acne is caused by a zinc deficiency. I took her off of all perscription meds and put her on zinc supplements 3x a day. Within a month all of her acne was gone. She had some redness and scarring but all acne was gone. I was amazed that something so simple, over the counter, could work so well. I'm not sure if I can mention this or not but if you need the exact amount it was in some book that is titled Foods that Heal."
Replies04/21/2009: Corrie from Baton Rouge, La replies: "I have just started taking Zinc, It is 50mg for 3 times a day. I didn't get if from a book, but found it on several websites.
I think you are supposed to decrease that amount after your face has achieved the desired results."
04/21/2009: RL from san antonio, TX replies: "i have been taking about 65 mg of zinc at night plus eating almonds in morning and befor bed for about three weeks & i haven't noticed a difference i hear it takes 4 weeks to work I have also been taking raw shea butter for the black marks.
I've taking 2 1/2 zinc pills before bed each of them 25 mg i guess I'll start taking 3 pills before bed 75mg
i mainly take it for BO and it hasnt changed yet."
04/21/2009: Tee from Chicago, Il replies: "What kind of zinc are yall using?"
04/22/2009: Selena from Chula, GA replies: "You shouldn't exceed 100 mgs of zinc daily through all sources, my book states 30-80mgs daily. Possible you have other mineral deficiencies as well if you also have BO issues. Try chlorophyll by drinking green drinks or eating lots of parsley and other leafy greens. Preferably raw. Be sure you are drinking lots of pure water (not tap). Most acne and other ailments will clear up from eating a mostly raw fruit and vegetable diet. Be sure your bowels are moving. Try a colon cleanse or adding lots of fiber to your diet. This should help with the BO and the acne. I never had acne as a teenager just an occasional bump here and there. I do go through phases where I will get an area that seems to keep pimples (the kind that you can feel coming 3 days before you can see it) and usually on my chin (where I tend to prop on my hands). When this happens I put oregano oil on that area and this usually puts a stop to them for a while. Oregano burns so you may want to dilute it some with olive oil and keep away from eyes. Apply it with a q-tip to keep from getting it on your fingers and later rubbing it into eyes. I don't dilute mine, but if you have never used it I suggest diluting one drop of oregano oil to 1 tsp. of olive oil, then work your way up to adding more drops if you can take it."

[YEA] 12/07/2006: Anna from Kansas City, MS writes: "I really never have had a problem with acne so when I developed a pimple on my chin it was somewhat of a big deal. I'm not used to something on my face hurting like it did. At first I popped it and pulled out that little yellow bullet shaped thing from the middle ( what is that, the infection or dried pus?) It bled a little then a bit more pus came out - still hurt of course. I decided to try ACV which hurt and made me develop immediately a fine rash of bumps all around the blemish. I think it is because my skin is very sensitive and it just burnt it a little - or because I had the opening in my skin for it spread faster... Then I thought of crushing half of a multi vitamin and making a paste. I did so, applied the paste to the blemish, put a bandaid over it ( it did hurt for a few minutes) and Voila! in about an hour the spot had dried up and was on its way to healing and not feeling tender! I would definitely do this again!"
