Colloidal gold is a suspension of gold nanoparticles in distilled water, known for its potential health benefits and unique properties. This guide provides a step-by-step method to make 250 ml of 40 ppm colloidal gold at home using a proven chemical reduction method. This guide consolidates information originally developed by Kephra, the owner and expert of the
CGCS Forum, a leading resource for colloidal gold production.
Over the past four years, we have produced over 1,000 bottles ranging from 4 oz to 16 oz, using this process for consistency and quality. Whether for personal use or resale, this method ensures a stable, high-quality product with minimal equipment.
Ingredients
- 250 ml distilled water (note: do not use tap or mineral water. Water must be distilled)
- 1 ml Gold Chloride solution (containing 10 mg pure gold, from SaltLakeMetals.com. See this link for exact product to buy).
- 0.5 ml Sodium Carbonate solution (recipe below) - this is your electrolyte solution
- 1/2 teaspoon Maltodextrin - this is your reducing agent
Colloidal Gold Equipment & Items
Sodium Carbonate Solution Equipment
Step-by-Step Instructions
Method 1: Traditional Boiling Method
- Boil 250 ml of distilled water.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of maltodextrin while stirring continuously until fully dissolved.
- Slowly add 1 ml of Gold Chloride solution, continuing to stir.
- Add 0.5 ml of Sodium Carbonate solution while stirring constantly.
- Allow the solution to cool to room temperature.
- Store in a glass bottle away from direct light.
- The color of your 40 ppm colloidal gold should be ruby red.
Method 2: Quick Microwave Method
- Pour 250 ml of cold distilled water into a glass beaker.
- Mix 1 ml of Sodium Carbonate solution.
- Add 1 ml of Gold Chloride solution and stir well.
- Mix 1/2 teaspoon of maltodextrin.
- Heat in a microwave until the solution just begins to boil (about 2 minutes)
- Allow it to cool before transferring to your storage bottle.
- The color of your 40 ppm colloidal gold should be ruby red.
Sodium Carbonate Electrolyte Solution (Using Arm & Hammer Washing Soda)
Ingredients
- 12.4 grams (approximately 2.3) teaspoons of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda (sodium carbonate anhydrous)
- Distilled water to make 100 ml
Instructions
- Measure 12,4 grams (2.3 teaspoons) of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda.
- Dissolve into a 100 ml beaker of hot distilled water, stirring until fully dissolved.
- Use 05. ml (10 drops) per 250 ml Colloidal Gold solution.
Tip: Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) can be converted to sodium carbonate anhydrous by baking at 300°F (150°C) for 1 hour.
Storage & Usage Tips
- Do not use metal utensils when handling colloidal gold.
- Store in the fridge if not consumed within a few weeks.
