Can anyone tell where we can get Blackstrap Molasses in India (if possible in Bangalore)....Plz

In India and most countries that have sugar cane plantations just visit a farm and ask them for the molasses. Molasses are not strictly gur but it is the residue produced while making it .Ask the farmers to save you some, they could bottle it and for them it would be an extra source of income. You could also take it piping hot when it is being made at the farms.

I have been like many other Malaysians looking impossibly for Blackstrap Molasses, which seemingly cannot be found in Malaysia. Lana from Cragieburn, Australia- You can find molasses, really you can! Go to Woolworths- in the section where you can buy honey/spreads/jams. Look for Pure Label, but there could be another brand as well. If you do not find it, go to the health food section of Woolworths or even Coles and look for it there. I buy my molasses at either shop and have had not problem. As a last resort, ask the manager at either shop if they can get it in for you- usually they are very helpful.

In the UK, molasses is also known as treacle. Maybe you can try asking for it as well?

For those in Australia that are looking for it, try Pure Label Molasses, bought in one of those oversized supermarket corporations. Packed for Conga foods. Says it does not have any sulphate which is in everything. They say on the label that it is Black Strap Molasses. The only ingredient on the bottle is Molasses. I thought it was an American thing, but it seems its universal. Bought a 550 gram jar for a few dollars.

Hello, I have been reading comments about blackstrap molasses and how it has tremendously helped many people. Blackstrap molasses can be a little expensive. I want to inform others that they can now purchase blackstrap molasses in tablet form at swanson vitamins. One bottle contains 180 tablet for less than $5.00 and one tablet contains 29mg of iron, which the daily requirement to build iron. I hope this info will help many of you. Gur can be made from date sap or from cane sap. Gur is simply an edible form of fruit sap. Molasses in Calcutta would be cane sugar sap (or akhi gur, in the local Bengali language). I am not sure which type of molasses you want, so I can't help you further than that!

Hi, as mentioned that Blackstrap molasses is available as GUR in India, but I don't thing that's true. Because GUR is nothing but Jaggery. And I thing Jaggery is not BlackStrapMolasses. Pls correct me if I am wrong.... So the hunt for BSM continues in India... Any luck ?
