I've had House of Herbs Black Strsp Molasses in my cabinet and have used it sparringly for cooking... Had no idea of its true health benefits. I found unsulphured BSM at the Carrefour Suntec City. Go to the organic section. Only one brand there and I forgot the brand name. Bought 2 bottles, brought back to China and deliver to a friend who has Fibroids.

Although I'm not sure, I think this brand of molasses, the only one made in Spain, is made from the first boil and is not blackstrap, which means that is made from the third boil of the sugar cane and though it has a high content of minerals but less sugar on it.

The only blackstrap that I found in Girona is from Biospirit, and is imported from Holland. I'm not sure if I can tell you the brand in this site but if you cannot find it I can tell you by mail.

Can anybody tell me if Miel de caña is the same as blackstrap molassses ? This is what they gave me here from a spanish brand called nuestra señora del carmen ..

Proper Blackstrap Molasses and ordinary Molasses are not the same. Blackstrap Molasses is the sticky residue left after the third boiling of the sugar cane or molasses.

Ordinary Molasses is only the first or second boiling of the sugar cane, and therefore contains much more sugar and less concentrated minerals than Blackstrap. Ordinary molasses therefore does not have the health benefits of Blackstrap Molasses.

Therefore, ensure that what you purchase is proper Blackstrap Molasses.

go to a local sugarcane factory and ask for molasses. this blackstrap molasses is also used in alcohol preparation, so it is usually not given unless the owner feels comfortable giving you bsm for your health benefits. good luck.

i wanna tell about blackstrap molasses that it is called RAB or ROO or kukoo in sarakie. and we can easily get it from the villages where sugarcane is processed. And one thing interesting to share with is that black sugar balls are used in our area for cows as it is said to be health caring and also resistance to cold according to our desi doctors.

I use Meridian Natural Molasses Pure Cane too which if you go onto the Meridian website (their website is on the jar) explains that it is Black Strap Molasses and is unsulphured too.

After reading about all the good things that this product does for women suffering with fibroids, i went out and brought unsulphured blackstrap molasses from Whole Foods which is a health food store. I brought a 740g jar for £1.99 which I though was a bargain! I'm hoping and praying that this will work, not just for me but all who use it.

The above information is wrong, it has been checked on all these places but blackstrap molasses unsulphered is found no where. Please do not waste your money and time.

I spent nearly 2 months in searching for BSM in every Health store, Organic food shop, medical shop, etc that I know. The cost of 600 ml is Rs 700. Since they sell only in Delhi, I had to send the DD along with the courier charges to get the BSM. I know it is expensive but I didn't have any other choice. Hi, I noticed that most people on this site do not know where to get molasses. Well molasses is found mostly in countries that grows sugar cane for sugar. Jamaica in the caribbean where i come from has molasses in wasted amounts. You could probably ask a friend/tourist or any one you know that comes to jamaica for vacation etc to get it for you. That's the best i can suggest.

I went to my local Holland & Barrets and they had "Meridian Natural Molasses Pure Cane". Is this "Blackstrap Molasses" because it didn't say Blackstrap anywhere.

Cant find black strap molasses in india especially from the state I come from (assam)...will gur or jaggery do as a substitue? I need for treatment of grey hairs.please advise....is it true that if you rub your finger nails against each other for 11-12 mins it stops hair greying and additionally turns the grey hair into black...

Gur is jaggery and not molasses. Molasses is not understood by farmers here in India. Akha Gur is also jaggery, only in a different form. Molasses can be made only after the jaggery part is done from the sugarcane.

Where to get Blackstrap Molasses? It's easier to get it these days at the organic shops. And I can see that more organic shops are available now compare to before. In PJ alone, you can get it at Cold Storage (in One Utama shopping center) organic section, or at any of the organic shops in PJ or KL area. I would think it's the same for other states in Malaysia. If you have any problem finding it, please leave a message here, and I'll try to find a shop near your area. No promises, just try my best.

I wonder where I can find BSM in hong kong. I tried to search from the major grocery stores here but couldn't find one. I am quite anemic & hv very low hemoglobin count. When it attacks, I could not get up because the world is spinning like hell. thanks for ur help!

If you are in Mumbai it will be hard to find Black Strap Mollasses. If you can visit any Sugarcane crusher or small farmers in Rural areas where they crush sugarcane to make jaggary you can easily get it. It's last residue of the process of making jaggery. Hope it helps.

1st, an alert: "Wholesome Sweeteners Organic Molasses," used in the 1/31/09 post comparing it to Blackstrap Molasses, is actually blackstrap! It doesn't say that on the front label, but on the side, in small print, it says "Ingredients: Blackstrap Molasses." That's why it's composition is so similar to the Blackstrap shown.

By comparison, the composition of Grandma's Molasses given in an earlier post makes a good example of regular molasses, a 1st boiling.
At the suggestion of an acupuncturist, I've been taking a tablespoon each day for leg cramps. I'd tried taking extra calcium and magnesium, but was still having leg cramps.
