Discovering the Health Benefits of BHT: New Research and Findings

BHT Vs Monolaurin
Posted by Oscar (Syracuse, New York) on 07/04/2015

Monolaurin - a Safer Treatment Than BHT for Lipid Coated Viruses?

I am giving this monolaurin my attention. I just recently posted a discussion about how I think [ do NOT know with certainty ] BHT works to destroy the lipid coatings of lipid coated viruses.

If I am right about that [ a BIG if ], it does follow that the same forces I discussed would be at work with the monolaurin.

Think of it this way: BHT and its metabolites are like a granular shaped molecule rapidly spinning about rapidly and grinding through lipid coatings.

Monolaurin is a rod like molecular entity rapidly teeter tottering and spinning about in these same lipid coatings. A different shape doing the same thing. Tearing apart said lipid coatings.

Both BHT and monolaurin are lipid seekers and for the same reasons. Relatively [ compared to water ] nonpolar entities. Whereas water is VERY dipolar. Everything is relative.

What is so very different about monolaurin compared to other lipids? It is a zig zagged but straight line overall. A rod like shape. Most lipids have a head group that is dipolar and two or three so called tail groups.

Also and importantly monolaurin`s dipolar head group is 6 atoms long. significantly longer than most lipids with two [ O-H ] hydroxy groups. As I explained in my earlier posting: When an oxygen atom is bonded to a hydrogen atom the [ O-H ] group has partial electric charges that compel it to move about very rapidly.

And monolaurin is a component of human mother`s milk.

I do NOT know about dosages of monolaurin. Some feedback from those who do would be appreciated by me.

Jay, are you out there ? Any who knows about monolaurin dosages please reply. Oscar

BHT Vs Monolaurin

Hi Oscar,

I don't know if this is what you are asking, but my capsules of monolaurin contain 600mg of monolaurin and 7.5mg of inosine. The directions say to take one or two capsules with meals or as directed by a physician.

Who else but you could figure out this inter-relationship between these two supplements and save so many lives? I know you like to downplay your education, but your brilliant mind speaks for itself. If the medical community doesn't recognize your contributions, at least take comfort in knowing the Earth Clinic family DOES, and we know the importance and healing power of your research and appreciate all your efforts! Take care and may God bless you for all you do for others.

Viral Diseases

BHT has proven itself to be an effective treatment for many lipid coated viruses including: ALL herpes viruses and ALL liver viruses. This does include all hepatitis VIRUSES. Most especially the hepatitis C and B viruses in their many forms. This BHT treatment does NOT work for EVERYONE. You have to try it to find out if it works for you or does not work.

The recommended dosage is: 200mg to 500mg of BHT per day with water only on an empty stomach. Large or heavy people [ those who weigh more than 200 pounds ] might require larger amounts or doses of BHT per day. That is the BHT treatment that worked very well for me and many other people.

It did CURE me and others of hepatitis C and B and also herpes. You HAVE to keep taking BHT on a daily basis for at LEAST 2 years to achieve a true CURE.

There are blood tests that do determine a TRUE CURE. A true cure is when you test NEGATIVE with the different ANTIBODIES tests for the different viruses. And like I said that takes at least 2 years to get to or achieve with daily dosing with BHT as discussed.

Generally, usually: This BHT treatment works best when NOT mixed or combined with other treatments. Surprisingly this BHT treatment worked very well with the ANTI AIDS drugs called " Complera " or something like that for one person. Taken as discussed his HCV viral load was cut in half in ONE WEEK using BHT as discussed.

From the feedback available: BHT works well with a standard vitamin and mineral supplement. And importantly does NOT work well with vitamin B12 supplements.

So give the BHT a try as discussed and report your results here at THE EARTH CLINIC if you wish to. Feedback is important for all the obvious reasons.

Also start with small doses of BHT to make sure it causes no problems. If it does: decrease the dosage used or stop using BHT. BHT does cause problems for some people as discussed here in this forum....Oscar

That's fantastic, Deirdre! I can definitely use more energy. I'm so glad you shared with me how you've been using it. I wish I had some BHT on hand right now because my daughter and I both woke up today with a sore throat, which usually means a cold is starting. I actually feel it at the back on the roof of my mouth. I ordered the 4oz pouch of BHT crystals from the EarthClinic store on Amazon just now. It will be here in 2 days. Why didn't I get this stuff sooner!?

What an outstanding article on an even more outstanding substance! I have now classified BHT in my mind as a panacea with all of its benefits and uses. Wow! I had always thought of it for herpes and hepatitis, which I don't have. But now that I am aware of its other benefits, I am excited to begin using it. I plan on reading through all the comments posted under the BHT section as well :)

BHT and Coconut Oil
Posted by Jnanasutra (Jacksonville, Fl) on 09/24/2014

Has anyone that has tried a combination of coconut oil and bht? The coconut oil dissolves the lipid coating of viruses. Then the bht may be more effective. I have read about a study done in the Philippines in which coconut oil got rid of hiv virus.

Do you know of anyone that has used dmso on the liver area and had positive results in healing? Thank you

Dear Art, I have never forgotten you. As far as treating hepatitis C goes: Keeping the treatment simple is what works best. But you have two other serious conditions that cannot be ignored: neuropathy and diabetes type 2. You can`t go wrong with drinking distilled water and doing moderate exercise. Both are important along with a healthy diet.

Is there some sport such as fishing you enjoy? Hiking and bicycle riding are really good for you. Bike riding is actually kind of exciting and hiking enjoyable. As corny as it sounds: Bird photography can add to both as far as enjoyment goes. Just bring a decent camera along with you.

We are about the same age. We both have to find real things that make our lives enjoyable. Sitting around and feeling pain is not good. Finding activities that keep us physically active that we enjoy is vitally important. It is all too easy to fall into self destructive depression at our age. I see it happen to so many people, myself included....Oscar

Let me reiterate that there are old versions of The BHT Book all over the Internet. The so-far foolproof way to get the latest version is to go to the Steve page at the Project Wellbeing website and download it. This post on Earth Clinic is being made in 2022, and the latest version is 2021. But keep in mind that the book has been updated every 2-3 years since the paleozoic era [insert chuckle here], and you might be reading this in 2032, or 2132.

A few other altering factors are (1) that SARS-CoV-2 has been added to the list of lipid-enveloped viruses, (2) that C@v! D includes at-least-occasional neurological symptoms, and (3) that HPV, a non-enveloped virus, has had positive reports of benefit. So new information may be even more important than in past editions.

For Cold Sores, try BHT.. butyl hydroxy toluene..... Has to be mixed with a fat of some kind to break it down and have it stored in the lymphs it worked for me at the first signs and in less than a day, next day I had the slightest of a skin scab where the blister was then gone my dose was 1/8 teaspoon on a piece of buttered toast twice a day the tingling cold sore stopped tingling within a few hours... BTH is used for the preservation of food stuffs and other more exotic things. Let me know if you try it and if it works for you please.

Dear Wayseeker, Please have Marv join the DAV. These people are VERY good at looking out for veterans. It is what they do. They are VERY familiar with all the crap some people in the VA system do to thwart veterans and know the best ways to deal with said crap.

Also that shot I discussed earlier is a blood product. Much of the blood being used to make those injections was infected with hepatitis C.

But, this BHT treatment has worked very well for many people when NOTHING else did. So called non-responders to the conventional treatments. At this time the best results are with a dosage of between 200mg to 350mg of BHT taken on an empty stomach twice a day. Also, best results are reported by those who do NOT take milk thistle or any of it`s extracts. Do NOT mix the BHT treatment with anything other than moderate doses of vitamins. Also, I do recommend joining the BHT CURES group here: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/BHTcures/

Many people have achieved dramatic improvement in a few weeks to a few months. I do think it is at least worth trying. I want to see Marv get well like I did and so many others also. Sincerely, ...Oscar

Dear, dear Oscar-- Marv is on his third day with BHT, and being a large man, is already on 350mg 2x per day, and feeling better than he has in a long time, as well as quite hopeful. We see you as a very important person (VIP) and speak your name often! He insists on doing just the bare minimum of Vit C, plus BHT. He's not being good about doing a tspn of oil at all. As a large man, is this neccesary? And can it be organic coconut oil?

VA is $180.00 to join, and right now, I have spent several small fortunes on various healing protocols, and can't swing it. He is, however, trying a different angle with the VA, but is told it will take 12 months at least to get any money or aid, and must begin from scratch. Can this org. help make that wait more brief? Appears all they could do is give some minimal financial support, as they claim not combat related. I smell a lawsuit with that tainted blood issue.

I will try to navigate this site better, and go to the group you mentioned. I feel like I am writing too much here, but like you, my desire to share experience of what works is very strong. Thank you. --T.

Dear Wayfarer, I am happy to learn that Marv tolerates the BHT well and is already feeling better after only a few days. That is NOT unusual. Many people respond very well to this BHT treatment and very quickly.

Now it is important that he be seeing a medical doctor for test monitoring purposes. He is a veteran and is eligible for such services. All veterans are. There is NO requirement that he have been in combat or even served in a time of war. If Marv is a Vietnam war veteran and he got that shot I think he did he may very well be elidgible for a substantial disability claim. He needs to get in contact with a DAV [ Disabled American Veterans ] officer. These DAV people are devoted to America`s veterans and absolutely know how to deal with the VA. He may very well have a substantial disability claim if he seved in Vietnam and has hepatitis C.

Also, you did say Marv is a large man. For that reason I know of no reason for him to be concerned about taking that tablespoon of vegetable oil. That is a concern for thin or very lean people only.

From what you have told me it seems to me that Marv is responding well to the BHT treatment. But it is important that he be having liver function tests and viral load count tests done on a regular basis. So, again: Please have Marv get in touch with the DAV. They WILL walk him through any problems the VA comes up with. I can not help but think the VA is worried because he may very well be eligeable for a substantial disability claim. The DAV will know what to do to help you people. Sadly, many veterans have to fight for their rights with the VA and the DAV knows how to do that....Oscar

Good for you. Back in the early 80s when I was getting regular reports from people about BHT and herpes, and in 1983 when John Mann and I were writing Wipe Out Herpes with BHT, we were very concerned about possible negative reactions for people with liver-centric lipid-enveloped viruses taking BHT. So we warned people not to do it without liver monitoring. But over the following decades, we had zero confirmation that people with liver viral infections had any problems with BHT, and many reports that their livers seemed to thrive on BHT, which was frankly unbelievable to me. I now suspect that the lipid-stabilizing effects of BHT on membrane antioxidants like vitamin E, beta-carotene and vitamin A is the reason--but have no expectation that this will be scientifically investigated in my lifetime. Many natural nutrients also have anti-viral activities and might synergize with your BHT program. You can read about this in the latest rewrite of the BHT Book [free PDF download from the "steve" page at Project Wellbeing (dot com), which contains all the information that was in the original Wipe Out herpes with BHT (1983) and the multiply updated BHT Toxicology Report (1984-2001)].

There have also been close to ten reports of BHT being found naturally in plants. I added this to The BHT Book just for its shock value. But I have my doubts. Tertiary-butyl groups are extremely rare in biological systems and the potential for environmental and laboratory contamination needs to be considered. For example, BHT could be found on plants from the spraying of pesticide or herbicide on agriculture fields miles away. Packaging materials (like the cardboard and plastic liners used for corn flakes) might be used by scientists to collect samples without realizing the contamination. Regarding olive oil, if the samples were collected from olive-orchard containers that previously held oil preserved with BHT, it would show up the next year or two as a trace contaminant despite any fungal contribution. BTW, thanks for the citation! I had not seen it before.

Dear Ugo, I am NOT a doctor and I have NO colleges. From what you said: The " HARVONI " treatment cured you of hepatitis C.

But you now have liver cancer and edema. Have you seen a heart doctor regarding the edema? There are many causes for edema and heart problems is one of them, especially when swelling of the lower legs is a symptom.

The ONLY reason I know of for thinking BHT may help you is some studies Dr. Denham Harman did with mice that were prone to dying of cancer. By treating them with BHT he managed to extend their average lifespans about 45%.

His reasoning was that BHT is a very powerful so called anti-oxident and free radical scavenger. This ability of BHT to deactivate free radicals is not in doubt. It is used as such to treat foodstuffs, fuels such as gasoline, rubber, plastics and more and has been since the 1950`s.

And free radicals play an important role in cancer. So the BHT used in the moderate dosages I have discussed might help.

I have NO knowledge or opinion on the many other compounds or substances you discussed. Trying to help, ...Oscar

Jock Itch Spray

So here is the way I use BHT. It is the 2nd ingredient in an aerosol can of jock itch spray. I have used it directly on a cold sore and watched the cold sore heal within hours if reapplied several times within a few hours and not drinking lots of liquids so as to dry it up. I have used it systematically by applying it on the inside of both wrists and it works this way too. I also spray it on my little finger of my left hand and this also promotes all over body healing.

If I spray it on my feet for athletes feet, the fungus and or virus whichever is at the time starting the itching and soreness and I do have both, MOVES up to the mouth area and I am stuck with a cold sore. If I get this stuff as I have on the fronts of my lower legs, I can use it there and it works to kill it there but also does not cause the infection to move to other areas. It dries out my lips to a degree and literally stops the reaction from my body.

I know you may think this is all ridiculous but it is the truth. The active ingredient in this is Tolnaftate 1% then alcohol, then BHT so I guess it may be the 3rd ingredient. All I know is this combo works so well at detoxing me and clearing viruses and fungus that I wanted to tell you about it. It does work to put it on the skin rather than take it internally for me. I assume the alcohol is a great carrier of it and of course has benefits of killing surface germs as well. So I will continue to use this the way I do because it doesn't harm me at all and clearly works throughout my entire body without the risk of taking too much. I only use it when I need to. I always find it to work.

Hello JR, I'm glad to hear that you are currently asymptomatic and able to temporarily bring down your viral load so that your antibodies can ease up. Funny thing about HSV-2 is that outward symptoms can go away but as it can't be eradicated from the spinal ganglia, we will continue to shed the virus and symptoms may come back and our IgG score will rise; we are never truly free from being shedding carriers of it but can only hope to eliminate active outbreaks. An IgG score of 0.00 will show when it has been truly eradicated.

I also took the Synergy protocol for 9mos and my IgG score stayed in the teens but it did greatly reduce my outbreaks.

Be careful with the Lysine as long term usage can lead to gallstones. Watch the Arginine in your diet of which alcohol is high because Arginine will feed/increase your viral load and thus your IgG antibodies score will climb.

BHT Works Best Taken With Water Only on Empty Stomach:

This is in response to a number of different posters. I have discussed this issue many times now. In my opinion mixing BHT with any oil very much degrades the treatment. For best results BHT should be taken with a gulp of water only. Do NOT mix BHT with any oil at the time it is ingested or anything other than a gulp of water.

My opinion is based on the results posted in this and other forums....Oscar

Neuropathies of all kinds can have common underlying mechanisms. Lack of neurotrophic factors like pregnenolone and progesterone are common. But viruses and oxidative stress are also common. BHT is an antioxidant and an antiviral agent, so it is worth trying. It is also extremely inexpensive, so the down side is mainly your time and trouble. Since your neuropathic pain is close to the surface, I suggest that transdermal delivery will be the most effective way to test your response to BHT. Dissolve BHT crystals or powder in refined coconut oil (NOT raw coconut oil) at roughly 10% by weight. You can go as high as 15% by weight if you live in a warm climate. If you do use more and see BHT crystals growing in your BHT-oil solution, it is in no way dangerous. As you apply it, you will feel a bit of abrasion from the BHT crystals, but they will quickly dissolve as the oil warms up on your skin. The only other down side is that you may end up with BHT residue on your skin that cannot absorb as thoroughly as the oil. To test, I suggest that you start on only one side. If the pain reduces more on the BHT-treated side, you will have some evidence that it is not a random change or a placebo response. As an antioxidant, BHT "preserves" the vitamin A and E levels in neurons, which can seriously stabilize the neural membranes, through which the pain signals travel. Good luck, and please post your results here.

Dear Wayseeker, I don`t know where to start. So Marv has PTSD. I do also. I got shot in the guts really badly in 1968 and was sent back to a front line unit in Vietnam 6 months later. There was no mercy back then for servicemen. I had a friend who got shot three times, had all his teeth blown away and on an on. Still they kept sending him and me back into action. And yes you can only remember fragments of what happened at the time.

The DAV will know how to deal with all this. And his SS disability claim will have NO bearing on his VA claim. From what I know he is eligible for both. If anything the eligibilty for SS disability would help with the VA claim. Get in touch with the DAV. You will get the help you need. My father, who was a WWII veteran did not even know he was elidgable for VA health care until he I made him aware of it. The VA does not advertise all this.

Now, as to your concerns about you being infectected with HCV: There is an inexpensive test that can answer that question. Get that test and find out. It is called the HCV antibodies test. Look, do not get all freaked out. This BHT stuff really does work if taken as discussed for a very many people. There is a very good chance you are NOT infected also. Stay in touch in this forum and do join the BHT CURES GROUP. I am the primary monitor there and am on your side so to speak. BHT CURES GROUP here: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/BHTcures/

Dear Lana [ Raleigh ], The good news I have for you is: There are NEW treatments available for hepatitis C right NOW. These new treatments are both safe and very effective. Surely your doctor has discussed this with you. Is that true or not?

You have tried the BHT for 2 years now and it is NOT working for you based on what your test results are showing.

It is possible the " valacylovir " and or the s-acetyl glutathione supplements are degrading the BHT treatment. I have no way of knowing about that.

You should be eligible for government assistance to pay for these newly available treatments.

If the BHT is working the way it is supposed to there would be no need for a herpes drug or that other supplement.

The BHT treatment does NOT work well with MANY drugs and supplements.

So it`s up to you. You can try the BHT without the two compounds discussed and see if you get a dramatic improvement in two months or less. If not go with the newly available drugs as prescribed. Or go with the new treatments right now. I want to see you get well with or without the BHT treatment....Oscar

Mouth Ulcers Gone :-D

I used to have a lot of trouble with mouth ulcers, this was an ongoing issue for 10years or more. Anytime I bit my lip or cheek, or even just a minor abrasion to the lining of my mouth, and I would be guaranteed to get a mouth ulcer. Tried the usual antibacterial type remedies such as topical peroxide, iodine, bicarb, salt, rinsing with alcohol. That stuff didn't work for me though. In the end my ulcers turned out to be caused by a virus (maybe a strain of HSV), and a potent anti viral called BHT worked for me - from what I read it only works for lipid-coated viruses (fortunately the majority of viruses are lipid coated! ). I took about 500mg of BHT twice a day and that fixed it. And by fixed I mean I'm practically cured, as I don't need to take a maintenance dose of BHT to keep the ulcers away. 500mg worked, but maybe 250mg would be fine too, but I know that taking 1000mg in one dose was too much for me to handle as I would get some pains in my tummy (possibly liver struggling to metabolise it).. That only lasted an hour or so.

Here are my recent results from 06.04.2013 followed by the prior results:

Viral load: 491.000 UI/l
AST34
ALT38
GGT 41

Remember: 10th January 2012 I was:

Viral load: 2,3 million UI/l
AST 65,
ALT 55

In addition to the special treatment with BHT, for 10 years already I inject myself with mistletoe of the oak as a 20mg injection 3 times a week.

And now in addition to all the stuff below

I try high doses of vitamin B12 B12 (5000micrograms) injections for a month.
I'm doing the injection subcutaneously in the thigh twice a week.

Other preparations ( daily medication )
Vitamin C 1000mg
Vitamin B-6 100mg
Omega 3 1000mg
Milkthistle 1000mg
Solanum Lycopersicum D2
Hepatodoron

Today I am not worried about my future. Because your persistence and the responses of some of you who are also trying this treatment.

The herpes virus has never upset my wife " Karin" again

I started, and I urge anyone who is on the fence about BHT to follow the wellknown- advise too. I will post an upgrade of my new results on my viral load, AST, ALT, GGT andAP in 6 month or so and wish all of you all the best.

I've been doing 2 x 250 mg daily of BHT with a splash of water on an empty stomach since Feb 1, 2012 and after 1 month all my symptoms of chronic Hep C had completely disappeared. I've just ordered 3 x 350 mg bottles from Vitamin Research Products and plan to up my dosage to 2 x 350 a day as soon as I recieve my BHT order.

I can't believe how good I feel these days and I have to thank Oscar for sharing this invaluable information with everybody that will listen and I'm sure BHT is the answer for many. I failed tx with Ribiviron daily and Peginterferon 1 injection per week back in 2008 and was a non responder after 4 months. I have genotype 1a which is very resistant to conventional therapies and had all the classic symtoms, like brain fog, joint aches and low energy, but after 4 weeks of BHT, "I feel like kid again".

I just had a blood test (5 vials taken) and they're measuring my viral load as well as all the other measures they do. I will post the results in late June after I see my MD and get the results. To all the na sayers and crap talkers that give Oscar a hard time about the validity of this treatment, "get a life and stop with the B. S. Posts that are accusing Oscar of spreading false information about this very effective treatment". I can tell it's working Oscar because all my symptoms disappeared and it's been 4 months now and I feel great!! I'm out golfing everyday (which I thought I'd never get to do again) and I'm playing very well!

Thanks again to Oscar from the bottom of my big old heart for discovering and sharing with us all this treatment that seems to be helping very many folks that have either failed conventional tx or not wanted to do this because of the catastrophic side effects. I'm going to keep posting here about my recovery from this chronic disorder and provide my medical test results as well.

BHT Safe for Dogs
Posted by Art (California) on 03/24/2023 2154 posts

Clyde,

BHT is used in dog food to prevent the oils and fats from becoming bad or rancid as described in the following article :

https://wagwalking.com/wellness/is-bht-necessary-in-your-dogs-food

Here are two relevant quotes :

'Butylated hydroxytoluene is an additive often used in dog food to prevent the oils and the fats within the food from going bad. Spoiled dog food could potentially make your dog sick. So BHT is added to extend the life of the dog food as it sits on store shelves. BHT added to food preserves the shelf life of a manufactured dog food. Some dog owners ask themselves just how long they would like their dog's food to be preserved. '

'BHT is a known carcinogen and has been linked to cancer in lab animals.

As a responsible dog owner, reading labels and providing an affordable yet quality food for your dog is not difficult to do. Look for synthetic or chemical-sounding ingredients on dog food packaging. These ingredients will typically be low on the ingredient list because they are added only to preserve to food, giving it the ability to sit on a grocery store or pet store shelf longer. '

On the other hand, the following article says BHT is dangerous also :

https://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/red-flag-ingredients/bht-in-dog-food/

Here is a relevant quote :

' It seems the same chemical qualities which make BHT an effective preservative can also make it a suspect for causing cancerous tumors.

Some evidence has suggested certain individuals may have difficulty breaking down the chemical in the liver — which is capable of causing notable behavioral changes.

BHT has been banned as a preservative in food in the countries of Japan, Romania, Sweden and Australia.

Perhaps it is worth asking your vet in order to get more perspective on the use of BHT for your dog.

Ex wife took this for a couple years for herpes simplex 1 on my advice, having read Pearson and Shaw. She used to get the "cold sores" all the time. Never had a single one while taking this. The health food store where we were getting it shut down, we couldn't find anyone else local, so we let it go. A month later she was in full bloom. This was in the mid 80s. My non-professional opinion is why pay for high $ anti-retro-virals when this cheap solution really works? If I had it I'd try this first and only go to the doc if this failed. By all accounts, low-dose BHT suppresses herpes simplex. I'm a believer, based on close secondary personal experience. It really works for the herp.

Quoting your article, "Some may be concerned because BHT is man-made. Not everything that is man made is dangerous. Indeed, plenty of “natural” substances can be highly toxic." Apparently, BHT has been found to be created by fungi that grow on olives. See: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/ejlt.201600343 So... its a natural compound, humans found a way to synthesize it, just like the fungis did.

BHT Brands to Avoid
Posted by Swfowkes (Cupertino, California) on 02/15/2018 46 posts

The purest BHT is food grade bulk BHT, which several online vendors sell. No binders, fillers or excipients at all. However, food-grade BHT can have a half-percent impurity, which when taking gram quantities amounts to milligrams of non-BHT compounds. There is a relatively simple way to make these trace impurities less absorbable: add activated charcoal to your BHT. It makes the BHT taste like charcoal briquettes, so you might want to crush it up and put it into gelatin capsules. Use food-grade or pharmaceutical charcoal. The charcoal has a high surface area which will equally attract the impurities AND the BHT. But since BHT is plentiful and the impurities not, the impurities are more likely to be bound to the charcoal. It's a bit messy, but nothing that you cannot do in your kitchen.

Thank You S.W. Fowkes [ BHT MAN ] for joining this very important forum. I just perused your updated free and online "The BHT Book" here:

http://www.projectwellbeing.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/BHTbook-StevenWmFowkes-1410161.pdf

This is a " MUST READ " for EVERYONE involved in the ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS community. Steve discusses BHT and MUCH more in his updated FREE book. The politics and such that prevent BHT and OTHER low cost treatments from ever getting the attention they deserve and so much more. There is helpful information there for ALL of us. Mr. Fowkes has devoted his life to all this.

And, unlike me, Mr. Fowkes IS a highly educated man. More than that he is obviously more intelligent than I am. He in every way lives up to the ideals set forth by TED.

I only wish to find this one WHO toxicology report statement about the metabolism of BHT that details how BHT is altered and then " readily absorbed ". A tremendous amount of research has been done on BHT. To establish how BHT is altered in the digestive processes was a very difficult task. Very few people seem to be aware of that research. I will find that report and post that portion of these VERY long WHO BHT toxicology reports or report. There are many such WHO reports to dig through. I will find it and post it if I can. Keep the faith. Earth Clinic is a beacon of HOPE in our troubled world....Oscar

E: Unfortunately Oscar is currently unable to participate here on E.C. Do read his past post on BHT for further info. Also, read E.C. pages for your condition at the top of web page under section "Ailments".

Old school naturalpaths have long recommended Povidone Iodine administered as an enema, douche, or wash for topical treatment of pathogens. Colloidal Silver could be used this way in place of, or rotated with Iodine.

Also, chronic infections are a sign of immune suppression, which is a result of internal or external stressors or aging in general. Parasite infestation is a common internal stressor responsible for chronic infections. Zinc & Vit-A&D deficiency is also a common cause of immune dysfunction. Other nutrients specific for defeating viral infections include Lysine, Echinacea, St John'sWort. Iodine deficiency is also a leading cause of immune suppression.

Hope this helps reduce your fears by way of increasing knowledge.

BHT as Anti-Viral

Hi Oscar,

I cannot tolerate ML or LC [monolaurin and lauricidin]. When I first went on ML, it improved my mental clarity in a major way, but later on it began to mess up my GI tract and cause me to have to avoid certain high carb foods. I talked to at least one other person that said "ML causes yeast" to form in the GI tract. They claim it doesn't, but it surely did with me. I would never take ML or LC again.

So there are two brands that seem reliable from all I have heard....Oscar

Hepatitis C
Posted by Oscar (Syracuse, New York) on 06/05/2015

Dear Lana [ Raleigh, NC ]: Gee, I do not the rules as to getting government help for treating hepatitis C. So you are telling me you have to have cirrhosis of the liver to get such help. That is a shame and makes no sense, but is NOT a big surprise. It does at times seem to me that some not very bright people are in control of our NATION`S so called health care system.

Why wait until people are seriously ill or sick with hepatitis C before help is available ? The sicker people are the harder hepatitis C is to treat. Everything gets more complicated as this disease progresses. Hopefully that will change in the near future.

But I will focus on you as things are NOW. So you are infected with hepatitis C genotype 3. That is a somewhat rare form of hepatitis C. Most of the people I have worked with were TYPE 1s, both subtype A and B. There were some hepatitis genotype 2s in that group I worked with. I do NOT recall even one genotype 3.

But theoretically there is NO reason why the BHT treatment should NOT work for hepatitis C genotype 3. It is a lipid coated virus very much structurally the same as the type 1s and 2s. A discussion of all that is here at wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hepatitis_C_virus#Structure

So why are you not getting the desired results after 2 years of trying this BHT treatment ?

The theory myself and others have discussed is that: BHT is the right size a shape to penetrate the bi-layered lipid coatings the virons are coated with. It is more complex than that because: It is the metabolites of BHT [ altered BHT molecules ] that actually enter the bloodstream as discussed in the different WHO [ World Health Organization ] toxicology reports. Said reports state: A carboxyl group often occurs at the methyl group and hydroxyl groups occur in those two tert-butyl groups during digestion of BHT.

Also that carboxyl group readily combines with the amino acid glycine. It has been my proposal that: Metabolized [ altered ] BHT readily combines with MANY compounds by way of peptide bonds making the combined structures TOO LARGE to penetrate those lipid coatings on those virons. Those two compounds you said you are taking are both large and also have amino groups. It is when amino groups combine with a carboxyl group that these peptide bonds occur.

That is the reason why I suggested you stop taking those two supplements and lets see if that is what is degrading the BHT treatment for you. If I am right about this you should see a rapid decline in that viral load count. I mean rapid. No more than two months. If I am wrong then for reasons unknown to me the BHT treatment is NOT working. There are some other alternative treatments for hepatitis C discussed in this forum. I had very much hoped you could get the NEW treatments right now but you have told me you can not at this time.

I very much HOPE my suggestions work [ stop taking those two compounds discussed ]. If that does not show a rapid decline in that viral load count it seems to me it is time to look into some other treatment....Oscar

Hepatic Cirrhosis
Posted by Bill (San Fernando, Philippines) on 05/03/2015

Hi Ugo...The BHT therapy that Oscar recommends is not compatible with the therapy that you have devised for yourself. The reason for this is because BHT is a xenobiotic.

Your own therapy, as well as being highly beneficial for the liver, also contains nutrients that will actively remove xenobiotics like BHT. A xenobiotic is a substance or chemical that the human body does not recognize. So nutrients such as ALA will also actively remove BHT from the body, thus neutralizing any beneficial effects of both the BHT and ALA -- not what you want!!

Your own protocol seems to be very loosely based on Dr Burt Berkson's Triple Anti-oxidant Therapy which, from the research, has been highly successful against Hepatitis C, Liver Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer and Cirrhosis.

In a nutshell, Dr Berkson's therapy consists of :

* Oral ALA (300 mgs twice a day with meals)

* Milk Thistle -- 450 mgs twice a day with meals.

* Selenium -- 200 mcgs twice a day with meals.

* Low dose naltrexone -- up to 4.5 mgs taken in the evening with water.

* ALA by IV or injection -- very important.

* B Complex Vitamins -- Taken daily because ALA depletes thiamin, niacin and riboflavin.

* Clean diet

See Dr Berkson's research here, here and here.

The other thing that I must emphasize in your own protocol is that to have a greater measure of success against your cirrhosis and cancer -- you must also take the ALA periodically and regularly by injection or by IV. And since you are a doctor -- this should not really be a problem for you.

So the gist of the above message is -- No, you should not combine your own therapy with BHT. If you decide to take the BHT protocol that Oscar recommends then its best to take it on its own with no other nutrients for best effect.

Now I mixed about 350mg of BHT in about 1/16th of a cup of isopropanol with very good results for jock itch. I applied this mixture with a Kleenex type of tissue. I still have a lot left to use because that one application is still working after 5 or more days. I just swabbed the infected area thoroughly and the jock itch infection is still gone after said 5 day with one application only....Oscar

BHT and Coconut Oil
Posted by Daniela (California) on 10/04/2015

I have been using BHT at high doses of 2,000mg/day. At lower doses it was supportive but not nearly as effective for my herpes and other immune related symptoms as higher doses. It's been like a miracle. Unfortunately however, I am getting side effects at this high dosage - a constant rash on my face and diarrhea.

From the BHT book, it sounds like I may either be reacting to possible impurities, or I need to bypass the digestive track. So I am going to try and make the topical oil using refined coconut oil.

How exactly do you do this?? What does the 10-15% by weight mean? Am I to weight the coconut oil and then weight out 10-15% of BHT to oil ratio?

Also, what brand are you using? I am using the Whole Sale Nutrition brand, but am concerned given my side effects that it contains impurities. I know I could try the activated charcoal, but that seems a bit tricky given that I will have no idea how much BHT I end up taking since the charcoal will absorb some amount of the BHT, if not all of it.

Thanks!!!

BHT and Coconut Oil
Posted by Daniela (California) on 10/05/2015

Hi Oscar,

Thanks for replying. Yes, I have already tried the lower doses of BHT. I tried doses of 250mg-1000mg for 2 months. It did help, but I was still getting some amount of tingling, burning and itching consistently even at 1,000 mg. And, yes I take it on an empty stomach with only water.

Lower doses were preventing a larger outbreak, but I was always on alert since I still had symptoms, and if the symptoms got a little worse then I would feel forced to resort to using the Acyclovir ointment (which I had to use with some regularity).

As per my doctors suggestion, I entered in St. John's Wort and Lauricidin in July and that helped to lessen symptoms even more (along with the lower dosages of BHT), but I wasn't "cured". Then in mid-August, after a very stressful event and symptoms worsening, I decided to up the dosage to 2,000 mg (which is what the BHT Book says is the very maximum safe dosage). I am getting my liver enzymes checked regularly by my doctor - all is OK so far. That's when my herpes symptoms went away completely! That high dosage actually worked, and despite major grief and loss, I was feeling more energetic and healthier over-all on this dose. But I also developed the side effects (rash and diarrhea).

After 6 weeks of feeling a lot better, but also dealing with these side effects, I lowered my dose to 1,000mg per day again and within several days I got a canker sore (not sure if this is related, but the haven't had a canker sore since childhood), plus a tiny amount of tingling came back. Sigh.

Because of my side effects, I'm keeping my dose lower anyway, but I am not clear this will work well enough for my viral issues, since symptoms are re-appearing already. My oral herpes symptoms are much more extreme than most. I am one of those more sensitive people. And I have chronic immune-related issues in general. What works for some people, does not work for all people. So, I need to try something else. I am already working with many of the nutritional protocols that the BHT book discusses, but will keep experimenting.

Steve - I'd love to understand what "10-15% by weight" means when making the oil mixture?? I don't understand this. How do you take it once dissolved in oil? Topically or orally? And what dosage does this Oil Mixture end up being both topically or orally? I know you say in the book that dosage is uncertain when applying topically, but any ideas at least?? I don't know where to start with this.

And does anyone know what brands are more "pure"? Has anyone tried using the activated charcoal as described in the BHT book to remove impurities?

Thanks!

BHT and Peripheral Neuropathy

Dear Jennifer from, Albany New york. You do not state what disease you are or are considering treating with BHT. I have never claimed BHT is a treatment for peripheral Neuropathy.

I am going to assume you are considering or using BHT for one of the viral hepatitis diseases because is mostly what I discuss. Hepatitis often leads to some degree of peripheral neuropathy. We have had at least a few members in our group discuss it.

I recall an " Art from Vancouver " discussing BHT and PN at length in this forum. He had hepatitis C and had undergone the peg-interferon + ribavron treatments without success and much damage to his body including PN. For him the BHT seemed to help a lot with PN. Now you need to start with the lower dosages of BHT and find a dosage you are comfortable with. We have had many success stories from people using 250mg to 500mg of BHT per day. Lightweight and thin people seem to do best at about 250mg of BHT per day.

Oscar's BHT Recommendations
Posted by Oscar (Syracuse, New York) on 11/24/2013

I am no longer available regarding BHT. But this need not be a problem. For those interested in the BHT treatment there is the REMEDIES TAB HERE:

https://www.earthclinic.com/remedies/BHT.html

So, if you are interested in the BHT treatment for Hepatitis C and B and other viral diseases the information is available for you. I will post MY recommendations regarding BHT here once again:

Weight is an important factor in determining dosage. Fat content of a person`s body is another. Generally the more you weigh and the higher the fat content of your body the more BHT you need to effectively treat a viral infection. Many average size men have done very well with 250mg of BHT taken twice a day. If adverse side effects occur and persist, LOWER the dosage of BHT used. That is the treatment.

Supplements that have been shown to work well with the BHT treatment are:

1. A regular type multi-vitamin and mineral pill once a day.
2. A regular type vitamin B complex pill.once a day.
3. Vitamin B12 in a dosage of 1mg [ milligrams ] per day. 1mg is the same as 1, 000mcg { micrograms ].
4. Vitamin C in a daily dosage of between 500mg and 1, 000mg per day.
5. The lipid monolaurin. Unsure about dosage.
6. The herb chianca piedra seems especially helpful in treating hepatitis B. Unsure of dosage.
7. Sodium selenite in a daily dosage of 50mcg [ micrograms ].

Also, and importantly: Continue taking any doctor prescribed medicines or drugs. Very many of the people who have had dramatic improvement with this BHT treatment are taking a doctor prescribed medicine of one type or another.

SUPPLEMENTS TO AVOID. Do not take:

1. Milk Thistle and it`s extracts. Degrades the treatment to the point that it no longer works.
2. Grapefruit juice. Degrades the treatment to the point it no longer works.
3. Colloidal silver
4. Hydrogen peroxide taken internally. Hydrogen peroxide is a REACTIVE OXYGEN SPECIES. It will make the BHT treatment NOT work.
5. MMS [ Miracle Mineral Supplement ]. MMS is chlorine bleach, a very powerful oxidizer that will react with BHT in such a way as to make the treatment not work.
6. Vitamin E supplements. Yes, you NEED some vitamin E. But a normal diet provides plenty. Vitamin E supplements have been shown to enhance lipid coated viruses ability to replicate and should be avoided for that reason.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For best results, stick with those supplements I listed that have been shown to work well with the BHT treatment. Vitamin B12 is an especially good one.

That treatment works consistently well based on the substantial feedback available....

My VERY BEST to all forum members and especially the dedicated staff here at THE EARTH CLINIC....Oscar

BHT Overview
Posted by Jimster (Thailand) on 10/25/2015

I am responding to Oscar's request 25.10.2013 in the thread at earthclinic.com/remedies/BHT.html for details of treatments with BHT.
I have been suffering with chronic HSV1 in the pelvic region for several years, the result of which is that it has lead to worsening and debilitating symptoms of constant daily nerve pain, prostatitis, burning, itching, hip-pain, lack of balance, paraesthesia, bladder difficulties, back ache and many others. The list of symptoms I have recorded over time, almost seems incredible, even when I now review it myself. In addition, there has also been male-dysfunction due to its effect on the autonomic nervous system and also neuromuscular control. I have been self-treating with valacyclovir and acyclovir, which mediates almost all of the symptoms, at least those which have not suffered long-term damage and this has enabled me to prove to myself that HSV has been causative in these symptoms.

None of the doctors I have seen in Thailand have been helpful and as is usual here, unwilling to do any research or go out of their way to help. So I have spent the last three years at least, carrying out my own research using herbal remedies, energy medicine, Rife-therapy, ozone therapy, cold-laser, Bob Beck protocol and some others. In doing so, I have made several overseas trips in order to obtain treatment in other countries, which isn't available in Thailand. I have learned a great deal and feel that I have gained a sufficient amount of information to be able to help others (at least to a limited extent) but most of the treatment, with the possible exception of ozone therapy, has not helped me very much, although it has often at first responded to the treatments.

My condition is slightly unusual in that there never was very much in terms of classic herpes lesions - instead the skin remained erythmatous and sore for several years - but the virus's effect on my nerves has been enormous and quite shocking. I have read many other posters' comments online (on Medhelp for example), suggesting that I am by no means alone and also suggesting that HSV1, in contrast to HSV2, may contribute to more chronic symptoms in the pelvic region. Many others for example have indicated that HSV1 has not always caused open lesions, but nevertheless has caused considerable ongoing nerve pain.

The condition has sometimes caused me great distress and depression, to the extent that I have been unable to face life sometimes. It has also caused me to become reclusive and almost stop work completely. Not only has there been the inconvenience of the condition itself, but the fact that it never goes into remission, as it is reported to do and that it has caused so much damage physiologically. I can never get the problem out of my mind, unfortunately. The impact it has had on my life for the past seven years has been almost implausible.

Whenever I attempt to treat the condition, whether it may be using L-lysine, high-dose vitamin C, St. John's Wort, coconut oil, intravenous ozone, Rife-therapy or others, the symptoms usually improve for a day or two, then return to normal. This has been the hallmark of my condition. It appears that my case is unusual and the level of virulence is such that treatment is largely ineffective. I now have a supply of BHT here at home (after a very long wait) and began treatment three days ago, injesting it with heated olive oil. During the following morning after the first dose of 180mg, my pain had reduced to almost zero. This follows a recent claim from a neurologist at Samitivej Hospital in Bangkok, claiming that the virus had probably caused permanent lesions in my nerves and that recovery could not therefore be expected - and that he could do nothing for me. He refuted the idea that the virus is permanently active but was rather fond of telling me "what was indicated for treatment and what was not". Yet after taking BHT, the nerves were quietened. I have not been completely pain-free since beginning this therapy last week, but it appears to have contributed very well. I am still taking daily acyclovir - I do not know whether to stop it. But since using BHT three days ago, I have been able to reduce acyclovir from 400mg x 4 per day, to only x 2 per day, without suffering the usual worsening pain some 4 hours after dosage.

I am however somewhat confused by the advice given in some of the posts by Oscar and others, relating to BHT - they suggest taking BHT with water only, on an empty stomach, while Steven Fowkes seems to highly recommend taking it with oil, given that it is oil-soluable. In other posts, the use of vitamin B12 is suggested, while in another Oscar mentions that it may not be good to do so. Similarly, vitamin E is suggested in Steven Fowkes' book, while in other places, vitamin E is discouraged.

This is what I am taking at the moment, per day, although I'm cognisant that Oscar suggests taking as little supplementation as possible, in order to help BHT do its work.

Acyclovir 400mg x 3Vitamin C powdered form, several grams x 2 times per day
Zinc 50mg
Alpha R-Lipoic acid, 400mg - nerve repair
Folic acid, 50 mg
Selenium 200mcg x 2 times per day
Bee Propolis 500g x 2 times per day
Omega 3 fish oil, 2 grams x 2 times per day
Hypericum (St. John's Wort), regularly chewed
L-Carnitine Fumarate, 3.42 grams - nerve repair
BHT 720mg
Vitamin A, 10,000 IU (with each BHT dose)
Vitamin D3,5,000 IU (with each BHT dose)
Q10,29mg (a poor quality Thai product unfortunately)

I also inject intramuscularly, the following, once per day.

Vitamin B6,100mgVitamin B12,2000mcg

Naturally, I would of course like to reduce this preposterous amount of supplementation. I will post further on results, but appreciate likewise any suggestions for refining this treatment.

M: Whenever there is such a poor response from otherwise effective natural remedies, then one needs to back up a few steps and consider the likely possibility of a chronic depleted immune system. There are many items in our toxic modern times that drain immunity. It is very important to go to lengths in air, water, and food purification (clean organic foods w/ no additive etc). Next one must turn to cleaning the inner environment. It is recommended by many natural docs and chiro's to do annual gallbladder, colon, heavy metal, and parasite cleanse as so many diseases are directly linked to these toxic environments, particularly infections. Lots of good info on the cleanses at top page under "remedies" or "ailments" section.

Where to Buy
Posted by Swfowkes (Cupertino, California) on 03/10/2017 46 posts

Oscar is 100% right. I have known two health food stores which reliably carried BHT for more than a decade, but neither one is now still in business. It's just too heretical to have a FDA-approved food preservative in a store that features no-preservative choices. It is also a very slow seller; not that many people have discovered its anti-viral effects. So you will have to buy it mail order. Use "BHT powder" or "BHT crystals" or "bulk BHT" (in quotes) if you want to avoid getting links to encapsulated BHT.

Thanks to a nice and caring gentleman named Oscar, I have been treating my hepatitis c genotype 1 (not sure if it is a or b) with BHT for approximately one year. I started taking 375 mg twice daily for the 1st 9 months. Lately I have been taking 250 mg along with a monolaurin. When I started taking BHT my viral load was 450,000 and my last was 147 and my salt was 173. Yesterday I reviewed my recent results with my Dr. and my viral load was 7,500. My ast and salt are still high at 100 and 127, but having this disease since probably the early 70's takes its toll. My albumin and bilirubin are still within normal limits which tells me that although my liver is working hard, it is still functioning at a decent level. Luke, I also have chronic hbv. I am doing the bht therapy currently. a year or two ago I did bht + chanca piedra tea, and my viral load went from 500 million to 14 million. I did blood tests every 4-5 months or so, and sometimes I would only take chanca piedra and other times only bht, my viral load kept decreasing. That was a SIGNIFICANT decrease that happened over a year of on and off supplementation, and showed me that that both of those work.

Unfortunately, due to having such a high viral load, and due to being infected since very very young age (6 months), I seem to be developing cirrhosis, as my platelet count is low (platelet sequestration) and I have some spleen enlargement due to portal hypertension. Because of this, I feel that it is a good idea for me to also take serrapeptase (a proteolytic enzyme).

I am currently taking bht, chanca piedra, serrapeptase for my liver fibrosis, and also, to increase immune system and guard myself from developing liver cancer (very possible due to this god forsaken virus), I am taking AHCC (I trust the brand quality of life). I read some great testimonials about AHCC clearing infections as well (like hep b, and it's also very much anti-cancer).

I am going to do these therapies, and for my low platelet dangerous condition, also going to be taking many green smoothies (for their vit k content). During dental work and menstruation I take vit k2 supplement because I want to avoid heavy bleeding by increasing my platelets even more so.

I will update this post every month or so. I found this website very useful, and I will be posting here about bht, and the treatments that I am using. I feel pretty good about these, as I already feel better after a few days of supplementing myself with the above-mentioned treatment plan.

I really hope this is useful to anyone else who was as desperate as I. I am barely 25 and have goals in life, I am not going to let this virus screw up my life.

Oscar- To answer your questions: The VA has not done very extensive bloodwork, and won't do a ferrous iron test, nor are they doing anything else but giving up on Marv. They have not even bothered to help get him on a transplant list. I have cautioned him about that anyway, having read up on it.

Perhaps the best thing to do, as this lovely site does, is to simply jump to the solution, and skip the problem alltogether. I am all about throwing enough crud against the wall and seeing what sticks, giving each trial more than a fair shake.

I love solutions, and loathe fighting "the powers that be. " Marv remembers everyone getting shots from the same needle gun enroute to 'Nam. Grounds for disability, but it sits on the judges desk, and is called "a non-combat" related health issue. --T.

Dear Oscar, I had to tell you! Marvin's scores were finally obtained, and despite doing BHT not at all well-- not consistentaly, only a small dose 1x/ day, mixed with food and his medicines (5), he still has seen his scores drop from ALT 248 and AST 303, to ALT 98 and AST 59. These are from the Veterans, so aren't listed in millions. I trust you understand them anyway. His recent bloodwork they said he hadn't had ALT/AST tests in 6 months, when he has had two tests, 3 & 5 months ago. Oddly, they didn't include these, and though they drew many vials of blood last week, have "no ALT/AST tests for 6 mths" for this visit.

He has been, during the past 3 months, doing it right, by itself, 2x/ day, w/o food, by itself. Pity they didn't give us those scores, because I'm sure they're even better. But perhaps they didn't test him at all this time.

All in all, very hopeful news. Thank you. He did have to go back on meds, as has terrible ascites and they came back.

I have one question about drinking distilled water while using BHT, and if you have any remarks on that, please reply. --The Wayseeker.

Dennis, cancer is not something to fear. Cancer can only survive in an acidic environment and an environment deprived of oxygen. Cancer can not survive in an alkaline environment. If your pH is alkaline, cancer will not survive. If your diet consists of lots of vegetables (green vegetables) and you regularly drink ACV (1-2 tblespns in 8oz water) and even lemon juice they are alkalising. If your diet consists of lots of processed foods, sodas, chocolate, junk food, then you are more likely to have something to worry about. Cancer is not something to fear once you realise it is preventable and even curable. You can buy pH strips and test your pH to ensure it is in an alkaline range.

Dear Oscar, I wish I were posting something other than what I am going to say here but I think I need to let people know what my experience has been thus far with BHT. As you will recall, I was diagnosed with HEP C last May. My liver enzymes were elevated and had been for quite awhile and my viral load was at 3,000,000. I immediately started dosing with milk thistle, turmeric, various vitamins and 200mg bht on an empty stomach. Within one month, my liver enzymes were normal but my viral load went up 1 million to 4,000,000. I upped my dosage to 350mg of BHT and included 600mg of R-alpha lipoic acid (real important to state this is "real" r-alpha lipoic acid) not the stuff off the shelf. I continued this therapy for the past 8 months and decided to test myself around the 9th month. I increased the BHT to 700 mg for approximately one month before I tested. My liver enzymes continue to be normal but my viral load is now at 12,000,000. Needless to say, I am very disappointed and bummed out because I truly believed this was going to work. I have genotype 2 and now feel the next step is to go through the treatment, if they'll do it instead of waiting until I have liver damage. Wish me luck and for the rest of you, given the circumstances, I would still give the bht a try if I had to do it all over again.

Yes, doc, BHT enemas are a great way to get BHT into the body and avoid liver metabolism of the BHT from the first-pass effect. Several people in the San Francisco HIV community have done this for months and years, but I can warn you that this is messy. The BHT does not dissolve rapidly enough to be administrate-able as crystals, so dissolving it in oil is necessary. Holding oil in the bowel is difficult; both people used a diaper as the easiest compensation. This works great if only a few days of few weeks are needed. Hopefully, once a crisis is averted, transdermal or oral administration can be used for maintenance.

I cured a friend's herpes with lysine.

I don't know of any, but I'm pretty sure that some were using lysine for herpes reasons. Most lipid-encapsulated viruses are not as lysine responsive as herpes.

You might want to try looking into a book called Never an Outbreak. It's about curing your herpes permanently. It's not easy to find but uses products such as DMSO, hydrogen peroxide, Red Marine Algae and Lysine. I've personally used this protocol and it has been a lifesaver. I also started using BHT and it just might be the most powerful product you can use for your overall health. Up there with MSM/DMSO, tumeric, garlic, ginger, cayenne pepper, methylene blue, essiac tea, castor oil, Siberian pine nut oil, black seed oil, spirulina, Braggs apple cider vinegar, beta Glucan, colloidal silver, MMS, EDTA chelationTherapy, humic/fulvic acid, LifeOne Immune support. Among others.

Where to Buy

BHT is not generally hard to buy. It is a relatively cheap chemical and can be purchased for non-medical reasons, like, for example, making candles from fat. But there are a couple of things to know.

First, BHT comes in different purities. The technical grades are intended for use as preservatives in gasoline, oils and biofuels. They can be 96-98% pure, which translates as 2-4% impurity. You do not want this grade of BHT.

What you want is food-grade BHT. Or better. The certificate of analysis will show a purity above 99%. So if the vendor does not state FCC (food chemical codex) or equivalent certification, either look at the purity numbers or don't buy it there.

In some countries, Customs agents have an agenda to prevent their citizens from accessing nutrients, pharmaceuticals and cures of which they disapprove. If you have a shipment of BHT that is seized and you cannot negotiate its release, consider a stealth approach. Order the BHT and have it shipped to a friend where it is OK, then have your friend repackage it in a birthday card, or a T-shirt, or a paperback book. Powder can be transferred from a bottle (bulky and conspicuous) into a plastic bag (or nested plastic bags with a layer of clean paper between to minimize sound and the possibility of a puncture). Capsules can be placed in a plastic bag, adjusted into a single layer, and the sir squeezed out to make a one-capsule-thick slab, which will fit in a Christmas card.

Your friend in another country can they send it to you as correspondence, or as a gift.

If you are going to dissolve the BHT in oil after you get it, for ingestion or for topical use, the BHT can be easily melted in a double boiler on a stove and cast in a mold as a bird, donut, candle, paper weight or other "innoccuous" or artistic shape.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

Good luck.

I found the report I was looking for. There are others with more complex and confusing statements available at " inchem ". I will post the desired statement with a link to the full report:

Biological Data

Biochemical aspects

BHT is readily absorbed. Some deposition in adipose tissue bee been described following high dosage in the rat, and this may cause increased stability of the extracted perineal fat.1 The metabolism of BHT is complicated by the presence of the butyl groups on each side of the hydroxyl. Preliminary modification is necessary before conjugation can occur. This takes the form of either oxidation of one of the butyl groups to a 2-hydroxy-2:2-dimethyl-2-ethyl group, or oxidation of the methyl group to a carboxy acid. The former yields glucuronide conjugates, while the latter becomes conjugated with glucuronic acid or glycine. Some of the oxidized material is also excreted unconjugated.2,3

Link to full report: http://www.inchem.org/documents/jecfa/jecmono/v38aje02.htm

I hope this works. The importance is that: This statement is very clear about BHT being readily absorbed as is. There is NO need to dissolve BHT in ANYTHING. Many people seem confused about that. Also, like I said: oxidation occurs in those tert-butyl groups and a carboxy acid groupforms at the methyl group. And a carboxy aacid can combine with a [ NH2 ] group in a dehydration reaction to form a peptide bond. Or am I wrong about that? Also: would this reaction require an enzyme or not? ...Oscar

Oscar states that BHT does not need to be dissolved in oil to work. This is true for the majority of people. However, a small minority of people report that they got better results when they did dissolve BHT in oil. I suspect that those people (1) had problems with their bile, or (2) had surgery to remove their gall bladders, or (3) were on a low-fat diet, or (4) were consuming a high-fiber diet and had extremely short bowel transit time, or (5) were consuming BHT as coarse crystals (poor surface area for dissolving). Each of these problems is easily remedied by alternatives to dissolving BHT in oil. But dissolving BHT in refined coconut oil (10-15% by weight) may be easier on a lifestyle basis, assuming that you do not have to put it into capsules to "get it down."

Anybody having personal experience with this topic, please post it here or send me an email at steve at projectwellbeing dot com. BTW, my BHT Book is a free download from the steve page at the Project Wellbeing website. I update it every 2-3 years, so be sure to download the latest version. or update the version you already downloaded.

Dear Elle from Chicago, I am not sure what to tell you. The BHT did work very well for some people for HPV caused warts as discussed here in this forum back in 2012:

https://www.earthclinic.com/cures/genital_warts_hpv22.html#bht_73294

Please scroll through the above link to read what Fatchabrute, Larry, and Teru from Paris have to say about the use of BHT to treat genital warts.

I wish to conclude this posting by thanking the many people who have expressed their concern for me. I am living in a motel at this time and hoping for some help from the VA in getting some metal sutures removed that are causing me pain.

My very best to the many wonderful people here at The Earth Clinic.

I am sorry that I am no longer able to respond very much at this time....Oscar

Thanks so much, Oscar.

Genital Herpes

Hello Anon from MO, My opinion based on my experience with using BHT and that of many others is: BHT taken internally in a dosage of 250mg to 500mg per day with a gulp of water on an empty stomach is VERY effective as a treatment for ALL the herpes viruses [ both oral and genital herpes viruses. There ARE many variants ].

So there is the internal route that in my opinion eventually leads to a true CURE as opposed to treating symptoms.

But this in NO way rules out BHT as a topical treatment also. In fact one or more of the original researchers who discovered that BHT is an effective treatment for theoretically ALL lipid coated viruses filed for a patent for BHT mixed in an alcohol as a TOPICAL treatment for herpes viruses. There are many so called alcohols. My experience with using ISOPROPANOL as the solvent is that: BHT readily dissolves in isopropanol and that said isopropanol is a good and relatively safe choice as a solvent for BHT as a TOPICAL treatment. NEVER drink isopropanol. Isopropanol is often called " rubbing alcohol " . It evaporates very rapidly. This causes a drying effect that rapidly kills a very many microbes of all types. That is why it is used to sterilize wounds. It can also be used to reduce a person`s temperature in emergency situations by swabbing the chest with isopropanol. So as a topical treatment it is considered safe to use.

So when you combine the effects of both BHT and isopropanol you have a very powerful TOPICAL treatment for those open sores that occur with both genital and oral herpes.

If BHT is mixed in ANY oil you will NOT get that important drying effect. Everything I know about the use of BHT tells me ISOPROPANOL is or makes for the best solvent when using BHT as a topical treatment for herpes sores and also FUNGAL infections. A final note: There is NO need to heat this mixture. Please: Do NOT complicate this simple but effective treatment....Oscar

Genital Herpes

Oscar,

Thank you so much for the detailed explanation. I will start with 250mg/day and work up to 500mg/day internally on empty stomach with a gulp of water in 2 divided doses. Simultaneously, I will also apply isopropanol + BHT topically on a daily basis in the effected areas, even when no break outs.

Thanks for your wisdom and willingness to help other sufferers.

Genital Herpes

Yeyyy, thank you Oscar!

I did not take any extra dosage orally but I did apply the alcohol mix topically a couple of nights ago (only two days apart from my previous application, not 4 to 5 days like I had been doing). By next morning, it was almost gone. Not completely gone but the burn is gone. I might still be shedding the virus though.

From now on, if I feel like coming down with it next time, I will alternate an extra 250mg orally and do a topical the next day if I still feel the burn/itch.

And onward and upward I go with my daily 2x oral dosage routine with an occasional topical :-) My ultimate goal is to completely get rid of this from my system so I won't pass it on to my partner.

Thanks again for the encouraging response.

I just ordered the EC crystal form of BHT and wonder if I can mix it with the MSM and diatomaceous earth mixture I drink at night?

EC: Hi Alize,

No, taking BHT on an empty stomach first thing in the morning works best. You can read Oscar's posts on the BHT page for guidance as he started taking it in 1997 for Hepatitis C. We've attached your post to one of his threads, but there are many more.
