I was sooo elated, to find out that ACV is great for natural weight loss. I started taking it about 1 week ago. I actually love the taste of it and have been taking 1 tablespoon full, straight, undiluted, 2 -3 times per day. I normally drink some water after each "serving" of ACV, rather than make the drink with Black Strap Molasses or Grade B Maple syrup. I haven't taken any measurements yet, to see if I've lost inches yet, but am hoping to rid myself of a very, bloated belly. Is this harmful?

I just wanted to let people know that they may be able to find the "Popular" brand of ACV in their local supermarket if it has a "organic/healthy" area... that's where I get mine at my local Fry's/Kroger. You probably won't find it with the regular vinegars, but check in the area that offers organic foods (like organic baby foods, and other natural foods) you may be surprised what they have there!

Hi everyone, Have you tried raw honey and cinnamon for weight loss? My partner is having 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon in a cup of boiling water ( 250 MLS ) allow to cool 1/2 hour before adding 1 teaspoon of raw honey, drink half the cup before bed and the rest in the morning. Apparently it just as effective on toast.

He is not a regular exerciser and likes a few beers, will keep you updated. Honey and cinnamon have plenty of health benefits too. I am trying the ACV I would like to loose a few kilo's, was having it after meals without loosing kilo's ( LOST CM's .) Will now try before meals.

We haven't been on these for long, close to a month so far.

interesting... Dr. Weil in earlier notes dismissed the apple cider vinegar fad... today, he posted this...A reminder to all who know something is helping but are discouraged by the experts..keep your strength. (but what I do like about him, ..he is quick to admit he was wrong)

Vinegar May Combat Fat

Maybe the vinegar effect isn't just an old-wives tale. New research from Japan is lending credence to the age-old notion that vinegar can help reduce fat. Investigators put laboratory mice on a high-fat diet and fed them acetic acid, the main component of vinegar. They put another group of mice on the same diet but gave them water. The mice in both groups gained weight but those on the vinegar "diet" put on significantly less body fat (up to 10 percent less) than the other mice. The acetic acid may work by turning on genes for fatty acid oxidation enzymes. These genes produce proteins that can break down fats and therefore suppress body fat accumulation. Research elsewhere indicates that acetic acid also may help control blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Does this mean a vinegar diet will help humans lose weight or prevent them from gaining? That's for another study to determine, but you could try dressing your salads with vinegar and olive oil to see if it helps. The Japanese study was published in the July 8, 2009, issue of the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.

I have been drinking it throughout the day, 1 tablespoon and honey with 16 oz of water. I need to lose abouth 30lbs. I know I have to be patient. But already after 2 months, without any lb lost. Anybody has a different result? Your respond is appreciate.

In response to Manjit from Toronto, sounds more like kidney stones, the blood in urine is good that means you are passing them. It sounds like the ACV is detoxing your system, all the bad stuff in your body will end up in your kidneys are your body tries to expell it, this turns into to kidney stones sometimes. They are not really stones but calcium and mineral build up. When you pass them, it's like a small round gellied ball that comes out, if they are small you won't even notice them. I'd recommend adding a little more water into your diet, this should help keep your kidneys cleaned out a little better. I've been drinking 2 tspns of ACV for years, per I heard it helped give you a better skin complexion, people tell me all the time I don't look my age and that I haven't aged at all since high school. I'm 30 now. Also, works great as skin toner.

Five days ago, I found earthclinic.com in a random search for uses of vinegar. The very first thing I saw was "ACV for Weight Loss." I sort of scoffed at the theory, but decided to read a few testimonials anyway.

Well, I ended up reading ALL of the testimonials (haha, which took an entire day, between chasing kids and changing diapers), and they had me convinced. Those who did not have success appear to not be terribly over weight, or have used processed ACV instead of raw organic unfiltered ACV.

Anyway, on day one, I only drank 1/2 a glass of ACV water. It was too gross. Sorry, I can't remember exactly how much of what I used. Honey didn't even help. On day 2, I tried it again. Not much better. So, that night I decided to just drink a teaspoon of it, straight (since I like the taste of it, anyway). Boy, was that a mistake! It BURNED. So, since then I've been putting about 2 teaspoons of ACV in 1/2 liter of sweet tea with lemon. The ACV just makes the lemon a bit tangier, and it's actually quite good! I also have been drinking extra water, because I believe that is important to successful weight loss. As for the ACV tea, I try to make it last the whole day, and if I do drink it all, I just make another bottle. So, some days I have more than 2 teaspoons, but never more than 3 or 4.

This morning I weighed myself, and I have lost 5 pounds! I've got about 95 to go, but now I am quite optimistic about it. The greatest thing is that this stuff really curbs your appetite! I only eat when I am hungry now, and am careful to have small portions.

Thank you so much, Earth Clinic, for pointing this out to me. If it weren't for you, I would never be a believer!

I'll post again later with further results!

Ive just started taking 2 teaspoons in a glass of water, every morning & evening. The benefit to me for an arthritic toe and to assist with weight loss. My husband has also just started taking it for a heitus hernia(similar symptons to acid reflux). Neither of us are in a position where we can sip the drink throughout the day so we just drink in down. Is this ok? The next comment would be that we then have a drink,we finish our tea or have a drink of gratefruit or coke. Are these taking away the benefits or is it ok to continue along these lines?

Thanks

I notice that many of the naysayers are drinking their ACV with HONEY and I'm wondering if this SUGAR is keeping them from losing the weight due to SUGAR'S deleterious affect on glucose utilization for some people. Most people think sugars such as honey and even pure maple syrup are okay because they're natural sugars. The first time I tried the acv with 1 tsp of honey I got extremely dizzy - way too much sugar. I would suggust that those who use honey with ACV, and show no weight loss, stop using it.

Hi I have a quick question.. Hopefully some one will have an answer. :o)

Today I bought Organic ACV, I had no idea what the mother was... I thought it was a specific brand of ACV. However at the store there was only one brand, so I picked it up.. When I got home I actually read the label of the ACV I bought. "The mother" is the microrganisim living inside the Vinegar itself. It looks like a little string of snot in side the bottle. Which to me is very amusing.. This snot string will some how make my hair grow thicker, cure a yeast infection, help me loose weight, help dissovle kidney stones, and if applied to a wart remove it..LOL I dont have all those ailments just most of them..LOL

So here is my question, I want to keep my Mother alive, Should I refridgerate my vinegar??

Thanx,
Lara

EC: ACV, organic or not, with the mother or not, should not be refrigerated!

To All you Nays, I think most of you women are too critical and are obsessing on what the scale is saying to you. A 3 lb weight gain is usually due to water and not actual fat gain. Also if you are working out consistently you may not notice weight loss right away as muscle is heavier than fat, stay off the scale and start measuring yourself on a weekly basis. I think the results will be more gratifying and please don't give too much concern with the scale, try weighing in once a month, if you must. I hope this helps and remember, beauty comes from the inside.

One quart for $2.99. To me that was a bargain. Make sure you check out your local health food stores. Don't just assume that they are more expensive You might have a pleasant surprise. Be Blessed.

Just to clarify on Gloria's comment - fat does not convert to muscle, nor vice-versa. Fat is fat and muscle is muscle. Muscle gain increases fat loss but one does not CHANGE into the other!! Yes muscle weighs more than fat and is sometimes the reason people who have recently started working out do not see much actual weight loss at first since they are probably, initially, gaining muscle before the fat loss can catch up, of course everyone is different so keep that in mind. But I could not allow that post to sit there without someone correcting it. Thanks :)

Hey, ACV did not work on me either. I tried it for about 3 weeks and I gained about 3 lbs! So then I stopped. One thing that does work is drinking warm water with added lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of honey. Drink it the first thing in the morning after your wake up. It will help you maintain your weight or even loose it. I am not that big, so it does not help me loose my weight, but helps me maintain my weight.

Hi Chris, I am having the same issues you are! love drinking apple vinegar, but it doesn't help me loose weight. The one time I successfully lost weight is when I did a low fat, low sugar, low carb diet. Basically I only ate easily digestible food like salad, grilled chicken, fish, hummus. I lost about 10 pounds in 2 months. I am trying to get back to that same diet again, but the wheat products kill it for me. One sandwich on whole wheat bread and I have put on an instant 2 pounds. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

I have not lost any weight, and am wondering if I'm doing something wrong. I quit smoking 1 1/2 years ago, and gained about 30 pounds. I am tracking what I eat, and not over-eating. I'm 45, female, and always been thin. It's almost like my metabolism is gone, never to return. I also exercise, at least 2-3 hours per week on average. Any thoughts for me??

Im still consuming 2 Teaspoons of AVC in 16 ounces(2 cups) of water everyday. No more, no less. I sip this throughout the day in a water bottle and try to finish the bottle right before I go to bed.I take a gulp before and after every meal. May will be my 5th consecutive month taking that ACV.I don't know what else to say, but ITS WORKING FOR ME!!Good Luck all!

Apple Cider Vinegar and Blood Types
Posted by Naturallyme (Reno, NV) on 04/29/2009

After reading all the other posts about weight loss success, I decided to try ACV. My first experience was after coming off my first trial of a lemonade detox diet about 4 months ago. Once I started eating normally again, I drank 1 tablespoon ACV mixed with 8 ounces of water 2-3 times per day before meals. This went on for 2-3 weeks. Alarmingly, I seemed to be gaining weight instead of losing it. I went from 115 llbs to 125! To be fair, my weight before the 9-day juice fast was 121, so I wasn't sure if the gain was from coming off of the detox juice-fast or from the ACV, so I stopped taking the ACV. It was probably a mix of both.

As I never lost the 4 extra pounds that I gained, I decided to try the vinegar again. I tried it for 2 days, this time with only 1 teaspoon with 8oz. of water and gained exactly one pound each day (up to 127 lbs)! I've been off it now for two days and my weight has returned to 125 again. I would have gone longer just to make sure, but I feared not being to lose the weight again. I am a 27 year-old female who makes healthy food choices most of the time and exercises 3-5x per week. I know that I do not consume enough calories to be gaining a pound per day from what I eat. I believe that the ACV must be interfering with my hormones somehow. Another reason I think this is because my menstrual cycle was affected (I started bleeding moderately, even though my period officially ended a week ago).

Interestingly, yesterday a friend directed me to some literature about blood type diets. My type is AB. In a book that I read, it said that people with this type should avoid all vinegar and pickled foods. It also said that AB's are predisposed to menstrual problems and migraines...conditions that I'm chronically plagued with. I'm going to take some time look to into this information and test out their eating plan. Hopefully it works. Either way, I won't be turning to ACV again for help with weight loss.
