Combination Vaccines

I got 2 miniature dachsunds 3 weeks ago. I took them in for their first shots, Distemper Parvo DAPP, Giardia Vaccine, & Canine Bordetella Vaccine. They were both given Benadryl for side affects. The male weighed 1.9 pounds and the female was 2.2 at 8 weeks. The female is the hyper one and always wanted to play while the male ate about 1/2 as much and doesn't really play at all. I took them in today for their second round. The male had pale gums and was still 1.9 pounds so the said to wait for shots, he was given nutri-cal & hivite drops and put on prescription dog food to gain weight. The female weighed 2.6 pounds and very healty and active. She was given Distemper Parvo DAPP, Giardia Vaccine & Leptospirosis 4-way vaccine. I brought them home and after an hour and a half the female who was given the second round of shots started to vomit so i took her outside where she vomited up some food and started to go to the bathroom(she was playing and was totally normal until this point) then suddenly she basically collapsed on the ground and was very weak, i picked her up and she attempted to walk around and go the the bathroom again but collapsed and laid on the ground, i ran inside and got some benadryl and gave her 1 mL. She was basically dead weight, shallow breathing in a matter of 30 seconds. I got in the car and called the vet to let them know i was coming. I got to the vet 10 min. later. They were working on her for about 30 minutes or so and one of them came out and said she was going into Anaphylactic Shock and that they were performing cpr on her. Then the vet came out and brought me into the room and i already knew what she was going to say. I just wanted to see her and after about 15 minutes in the room i wrapped her up in a towel and brought her home. I'm sitting on the couch with her and my other puppy who's been sleeping since we got home. Right now i'm unsure what do to with her and don't know if i want to take the male in for his shots in a couple weeks because i'm afraid something might happen to him. The vet said it's very rare for even a high risk small dog like this to die from vaccinations. She said it's kind of like a lightning strike for humans. Anyways i'd like to know what you think i should do.

Lightning strike. How ridiculous! Just looking here, you can see how many people's pets are adversely affected. The site recommends activated charcoal and Thujo for adverse reactions. I hope that your pup is okay. I would not get the vax for the second dog, if I were you. Especially since they are related! Vaccine sensitivity seems to be somewhat genetic in nature.

You guys are being ridiculous. While it's a true tragedy that a puppy passed away, it really is quite rare. Matter of fact, humans can also get an anaphylactic reaction to a drug or a vaccine - does that mean that we should let our kids die from polio instead? and CHARCOAL???? Are you kidding me? What do you think would be the action for such a drug? Well, where does it go? The STOMACH, that's right. So, since the vaccine is not given orally (but is instead injected IM or SC) charcoal will do absolutely NOTHING. It's only action is to slow the absorption of an ingested substance, so that it may be excreted faster and hopefully have less of an effect on the animal/human. Come on, people, get your medical facts straight before you tell other people to put their pets at such a risk. Perhaps there is a doggie or a cat dying right now because somebody listened to you and didn't vaccinate their pet against things like rabies or FCV. My cat almost died from FCV - don't think for a moment that I didn't wish that he had a vaccine instead! To this day he has side effects from the DISEASE, not the vaccine. People resist modern medicine so much - never mind that we live twice as long, and cure 100 times more diseases for both humans and animals. Yes, there will be isolated cases of tragedy. But for every one of those, there are thousands of lives saved that would have been otherwise lost. Can't you see that? If your pet is highly allergic, then let your vet know. I don't think they are out to kill them. Kind of a bad business, you know.

Hi,
I have a 3year female chihuahua. She was born in May 2009, her first jabs were in July that year and she had a mild reaction ... swelling of face and eyes. A year later, the same booster had a very severe reaction - withi the hour her whole body had huge bumps, het face was almost twice the size, and she could hardly open her eyes. I rushed her back to the vet and he injected het with ananti-inflammatory injection.
I am so worried, now its been 2 years since the last jab. The vet recommended she can miss a year.
I dont want to take any risks and wonddered if there are any altenatives to protect her against distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis and parvovirus. OR is it possible to give half dose ?? Also, I am not sure if the pet insurance is still valid if she has not had the booster.
Please advice.
Thanks
Kiran

We took our 6 month old Beagle mix puppy in for his shots, including heartworm vaccine. I had a bad feeling going in and actually asked the vet how often an animal has a reaction to thes shots, and he pretty much laughed it off. As I was waiting in line to pay the bill the puppy suddenly lost his bowels, vomited several times and collapsed limp on the floor. The nurse rushed him into the back room and did not let me follow. They were shaving spots all over him, frantically looking for a vein that would allow them to inject antihistamine and fluids but he had almost completely lost all blood pressure. The doctor's were able to save his life through heroic efforts and did not charge us. The puppy had another reaction a week later but pulled through. He is now 6 years old and doing fine but has frequent stomach aches even with food for sensitive stomachs and an intermittent limp in the leg that was injected.

Allergic Skin reaction as a result of C4 vaccine in dogs :
I have recently got a puppy at 8 weeks old, wo had his first combination vaccine at age 7 weeks, distemper, parvo and hepatitis. As someone who didn't want to expose my puppy to unneccesary vaccines, I chose to only give 1 more vaccine at 12 weeks. 10 days later my puppy broke out in a rash with his hair sticking up causing little bumps all over his back. He is on a fully natural raw diet, has had no contact to any new plants or allergens that I can think of, and I believe the vaccine has caused his immune system to weaken. I gave him a remedy of Thuja, as well as Apis to relieve the itching, which seemed to help. The following day I also gave an activated charcoal tablet and sprayed ACV on his skin. Within 5 days I saw a noticable improvement. I continued the same diet, also adding in ACV, flaxseed oil, garlic and kelp. 2 weeks later he had another itchy rash come up, this time starting on his belly and sides, seemingly effecting the parts of his skin where it had previously not been. I have succesfully treated the very red raw rash on his belly with the same treatments as above, but am still battling the remaining parts on his sides which he keeps itching. I am convinced this is a result of the vaccine and I hope to build his immune system to overcome these reactions and never vaccinate him again. Just in case this may help anyone with similar problems.

I have the same problem with my little t cup yorkie. He received vacines because we travel between the US and Canada. After receiving his rabies vacine both my yorkies develped big time allergies. I have tried everything. The only thing that will work is Atopica (Drug) of course. I'm so bummed that everything I ever tried never worked on the itching. The doctor freaked out on me telling me I was mean to let him get so red and itchy. Well I was trying to not use Big Pharma and destroy his liver. Does anyone out there have an answer to detox the vaccine out of his body? I will never vaccinate a dog ever again and I bet I will never have another skin problem again.

Change diet to raw feeding. Give DE (Food grade only) in probiotic yogurt. Give a tiny amount of raw garlic daily. Bath in baby shampoo. After last rinse. Mix half white vinegar/half water. Soak every area and leave to dry. Once a week. Put same mixture in a spray bottle and spray on hot spots twice daily.

I took my Bichon Frise in for his yearly vaccinations 2 days ago and now he is crying all the time and acts like he can barely walk. He has eaten very little and has not been to the bathroom. How many days should this last? I do not recall this reaction in the past. He is 3 years old.

Feline Vaccine reaction:
My Ragdoll cat received the last in a series of kitten vaccines (others were given by breeder as she was now 4 months old), we stopped by a friends house on the way home and I left the Rebekah in her crate in the garage. When I returned to check on her 10 minutes later she had vomit all over the floor of the crate and her eyes were dialated and she seemed dioriented. We rushed back to the vet who was now closed, so on to emergency. The vet there really could not see anything wrong with Rebekah. Less than 90 seconds later, Rebekah projectial vomited across the room and his comment was "OH I guess there is something wrong!" DAH He administered a shot to counteract the last one. She has NEVER had another vaccine (she is strickly an inside cat). She is now 10 years old and PERFECTLY healthy. She has only been back to the vet ONE time in her life and that was for a UTI-urinary tract infection-my fault for not cleaning water bowls often enough.

My dog is having side effects from the Lyme Booster Shot.. anyone else experiance this?
I took my 4year old MIN PIN (7pds and very active) Diamond, for her LYME BOOSTER SHOT yesterday. After her shot she was tired, but i thought that was normal. Around 6pm that night I noticed a golf sized bump on her lower back, where thet gave the shot. Also she was acting very lazy. This was strange and i called the vet. i was told to give her 1 "81mg" asprin and call the next day. My dog has this shot last year, and i didn't notice any side effects. All night she was extreemly tired, and lazy. Acting sick. The next day i saw the bump still, also she was not acting like herself. she wast excied for food, treats and she laided in bed all day. when i tried to take her outside she collapsed and ran back in to lay down. she will not sit near anyone and is acting hurt. i gave her another asprin and called the vet. i went in for a visit and they said she was having a bad reaction to the lyme booster. they gave me a liquid medican to give her once a day for 4 days and they said she will get better. now im homw with her and she is still acting so strange, im scared. she is sitting in her bed with her eyes shut facing the wall. she wont play or sit with me on the couch. let me know if you have experinced this.. i need hope that she will get better.. thank you
Advice for Vaccination Side Effects

Adult dogs do not need corona virus and are only given it when they are pups and get their first shots in the series of 3. After this point, Corona is no longer given unless the animal is going to be used for breeding purposes.

As requested, I'm emailing regarding vaccination affects we've had in our pets.
In 2004, we had a 5 year old female husky to die within 2 hours of receiving her vaccination. She'd had shots every year (DA2PP) without any problems. This year the vet added the Corona Vaccine which is what we think killed her.
We took her for an necropsy immediately to UGA Vet School. Receiving vet said there was no doubt she died from vax reaction. The vet doing the necropsy had the cell phone number to my vet (they knew each other), made personal calls to each other. I think to protect my vet from a law suit or what-not, the vet doing the necropsy reported her death inconclusive, died from swelling in brain (encyphelytis). Thus, this tragedy could not be reported to the vaccine companies!!!!
The same day, a 3 year old Shih Tzu had what I call neurological effects. He was despondent and screamed if we touched him for 3 days. Its like all his nerves were very sensitive. For an addl 7 days he was distant and a touch-me-not and whimpered if we touched him. He had never had any reactions to a vaccine before. I also contribute this to the corona that was added to the vaccine.
The vet REFUSED to believe that his vaccine caused either of these. Yet, on the same day I had 2 dogs severely affected.
I have since learned that corona only affects puppies; thus, no need to ever be given to an adult dog. Yet, most vets include this in the vaccine protocol. I now buy my own vaccinations and give the shots myself on a more conservative protocol due to the new findings of how we are way over vaccinating our pets.
I encourage all to learn about the vaccines their pets are getting and do not accept a vets word that all are safe. He's in business to make money. When adding the corona vax in 2004, the vet charged an addl $30 per vaccine!!!!!
Sincerely,
CShep3

side effects after booster dhpp shot
even though the vet knew about my dog being allergic she said it would been ok to give him the booster. She did give him another shot first to prevent him from swelling like he did last year. Still he got the shot at 10 am. By 6 pm that night he swell on and had a skin rash. of curse the vet was closed and i didn't received a call from the emergency number until 9:30 pm. The shot was friday. now it's sunday and the dog still has a skin rash what i treat with benadryl.
The dog is a chewweenie, 3 years old and 17 pounds heavy.

We recently adopted a puppy from the Humane Society. We visted with him several times before choosing him as the one. He was healthy, happy, energetic, playful, eager to please. He was simply a joy to be around. Of course, when you adopt from a shelter, the pets have to be spayed or nuetered and receive vaccinations. This was done on Tuesday. We picked him up on Thursday. He was a completely different puppy! He was very lethargic and coughing. The clinic tech said he was tired because he had just woke him up. He had no idea that he was very ill. We took him to our vet that evening. He was diagnosed with kennel cough and given antibiotics (an injection & pills). I treated him with aromatherapy as well. He seemed to improve slightly over the next two days. By Monday he was relapsing. Tuesday I called our vet. Since he couldn't be seen until Wednesday morning, we called the Humane Society and they had us bring him in. They administered a shot of penicillin and gave us different antibiotics. My husband didn't like the look the vet and tech shared when they listened to his chest. That was at 3:00 pm. At 5:00am, we had to rush him to the emergency clinic. He was stumbling, bumping into things and urinating uncontrollably. The clinic put him on oxygen for an hour (they close at 7:00 am). Then we went back to our vet. They administered IV antibiotics & fluids. He passed away that evening. I feel western veterinary medicine killed this wonderful creature.
EC: Dear Susan, so sorry to hear about your puppy. How sad.

Allergic Reaction to Vaccination of Corona First Vaccine for Puppies:
I rescued a male, yellow labrador retriever, 8 months old, and took him to our veterinarian of 20+ years. He was examined and given a Corona First Vaccine. On our way home, his "lips" began to swell up and he looked fat cheeked. So I immediately called back to the vet and returned to get it taken care of. He was given a shot to reduce the swelling and his medical record was to indicate his allergic reaction to the Corona.
