I had a tendonitis in my shoulder. I went to physiotherapy and was not be able to work for 7 months ( I had an Acro Balancing act ) until I went to another physio. He prescribed me a thee spoons of vodka or another spirit on a sheet ( or cut it in half ) of kitchen paper on the tendon then wrap it with cling film during the night.
Every night for a week until the inflammation is gone. Continue another week replacing the spirit with plain water. I was back to working in the circus after that.
After reading the many positive comments about alfalfa and tendonitis, I ordered some to try it. I'm happy for the people who found relief with the stuff, but it made my tendonitis ache and hurt more than it ever had. After a few days of taking it, the flare up calmed down for the most part. Tried taking one tablet a week later and the flare up started again.
I'm truly happy for anyone finding relief with alf, but for me its def a no go....
I'm an athlete with mild but chronic tendentious in both of my achilles tendons. I've been self-treating them for about a year after dumping thousands of dollars into doctor prescribed physical therapy and prescription topical anti-inflammatory medications. So far my results have been just as good or better that the doctor prescribed therapy.
After seeing these posts on using alfalfa supplements I decided to try it myself. Amazingly the pain and soreness was significantly reduced by taking 18 supplements a day (9 supplements, 3 times a day). With that success I started to consider other, fresh sources of alfalfa that might work even better. Since I already sprout seeds on a semi-regular basis I decided to try sprouting alfalfa. Turns out that fresh sprouts are even more effective than the dried supplements! I've been eating a large hand-full of sprouts 3 times a day on top of stretching and rolling and have been virtually pain-free! Thank you so much for the advice on this website!
Alfalfa cured my tendonitis: I took 24 tablets a day, 8 at each meal for 2 weeks then tapered off to about 10 or so a day. I took the heavy dose for 2 weeks to saturate my body then I took 10 a day for about a year. It's been 10 years and I usually have no pain or swelling. If I type alot or write alot I do have some discomfort but nothing like before!
As a side note I had some testing done and was told that I now have carpal tunnel in both arms but I had no idea because I have no pain!

I've been trying to self-diagnose since we don't have health insurance and, as always, came to earthclinic. I'm assuming that I have either tendonitis or bursitis in my shoulders. I had injured my right shoulder several years ago and it took a while to heal on its own, but wasn't painful after that. I broke my right wrist the beginning of this year and was in a cast for about 5 weeks. I believe that was the turning point. Between immobilizing the right arm and overusing the left, I've been in pretty much constant pain in both shoulders... Neither one of them move very freely, so it could also be frozen shoulders. The ache and burning have been very difficult to bare. I started taking the 2 T. ACV and 1 T. honey (raw... very important... and local if you can) twice daily as was recommended by James... What a difference! I've only been taking it for 3 days, but I noticed the difference after the first dose. Just wanted to wait to write about it for fear that it was all in my head! Mind you, I'm nowhere near cured yet, but its been like taking a pain reliever and the burning is completely gone!! I need to search to find some exercises that will help me strengthen both arms without injuring them further, but I feel like that's possible now!! I will continue to take this morning and night! Since I store my ACV in the fridge I warm it slightly in the microwave (hope that doesn't alter it! ) and then put the honey in it to dissolve it, then I add ice water. I tried drinking it as a warm tea-like drink, but just didn't like it as much. The cool drink goes down very easy for me. Thank you earthclinic and everyone who takes the time to let us know what we can do to help ourselves naturally!

Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple Cider Vinegar has cured: varicose veins, weight lose, tendonitis, wrinkles. In April of 2005, I came across a booklet for ACV, at the time I was 50 years old I played sports in high school, a construction worker for 20 years and a mover for the last 15, so I have done a number on my body over the years. My daughter convinced me to start taking ACV... I have taken it everyday since! The health benefits have been many. The first thing I noticed was my hair and nail growth, doesn't seem like much but my hair was white and had no color, but was growing back in blonde! I thought that was amazing! Over all the years of abuse on my feet and ankles I had purple feet from the varicose veins, it really was a severe case, after two months of use my feet started to look clearer to me, but I wasn't sure so I started taking pictures....I now have NO varicose veins on my feet, legs or anything. In April of 2005 I was a size 38 pants, today I am a 32 pants. I have not done any extra exercise to achieve this, It simply melted the pounds away (I also have a six pack again). The ACV has given me a facelift, I do NOT look like I am 51! My wrinkles around my eyes have literally disappeared. My skin is tighter, firmer every where. I feel like a new man. Over the years while abusing my body in my everyday life (working) I developed new and painful body movements, aches where I never had before and eventually the Doc diagnosed me with tendonitis (really painful) in both of my shoulders, being a mover this isn't good for business, it really started hurting my paycheck (then I started the ACV). I really had not realized I stopped taking the naproxen the Dr. had prescribed until I went to see him for my physical. He asked me if I needed a new script, that's when I realized I used to live on those pills everyday and hadn't needed them once since I started taking the ACV, so I told the Dr. about the ACV he was awed, seeing the results for himself he decided to start taking it, in fact my Barber, Boss, Coworkers, Kids, Brothers and sister all now take it with health benefits of there own. I tell you I LOVE ACV it has changed my life and made me a new healthier man. I actually believe I have a long healthy life ahead. The recipe I use everyday is: 2 table spoons of ACV and 1 Tablespoon of honey. Add water to taste. I do this two times a day, everyday. Good luck to all in your journey to a healthier you!
For anyone out there with tendon problems ie: tendinitis (tendonitis) please beware and search this out on the web. If you ever take the antibiotic Cipro, or anything in the same family, take note that Cipro, or members of the same family, can cause tendon inflammation and even tendon rupture! This is along with a long list of other side effects including death. I have just been on Cipro, having started taking it for a severe kidney infection. When I started to get back some old tendon pain issues, I looked Cipro up on the web and sure enough, it can be a killer for tendons - even long after you take the medication. I finished my Cipro a couple of weeks ago, and the tendon pain is increasing rather than decreasing. I also had many other painful symptoms (back pain, neck pain, headache etc... ) while on Cipro. And the darned infection has returned! I refused Cipro this time around and am on Bactrim. I am almost afraid to look up the side effects of this drug. If it wasn't for the sake of my kidneys............

Hi There Posters!
The article below just might be the best article I have yet read on the dietary treatment of TENDONITIS.
If you remember (did you remember?) I posted that the following might be useful knowledge (but this article below, below, goes much further):
Carrot juice, Celery juice, Celery seed tea, Celery, also: Water, Lemon juice and Honey + a tablespoon of ACV+ a pinch of dried Celtic Sea Salt.

Soreness in leg tendons from bike riding. DMSO rubbed on to back of leg twice in 3 hours made everything right as rain.
A few years ago, I started to suffer from both tendonitis and tennis elbow. At the same time, I was working in my profession of accounting clerk/data entry and thought that this combined with getting into a regular exercise routine had caused the pain. Boy was I ever wrong. I tried anti-inflammatories, physiotherapy, acupuncture, whatever I thought might help. Improvement was noted, but the pain was still there.
Last December (2009), I couldn't sleep because my arms ached so badly. I got up in the middle of the night and started searching on the internet. I found some anecdotal experiences with cutting out aspartame helping with many health issues. In my attempts to lose/maintain my weight, I had switched from drinking regular "brown pop" to diet. Some days, especially while I was enjoying the holiday foods, I would drink two or more cans of diet pop or beverages a day. That night, I decided to cut out foods and drinks with aspartame as much as I could. Within THREE DAYS, I felt no pain in my arms at all. I have tried to return to drinking the odd aspartame infused beverage, but by the next day, I am nearly in tears and can hardly work on any of my projects, whether at work or home doing my crafty stuff. Why the FDA and Canada's counterpart still allow this nasty chemical to be put into the food supply, I'll never know, but at least I know that I can live a nearly pain free existence thanks to my own little experiment.
Am a professional masseur. Had had tendonitis of especially the right thumb a few years back, but somehow it went again. Have not had any problems for the last few years. Recently the problem came back. Thinking about it I realized that for about 2 months prior, I have been usuing different massage oils. Finished those and am now usuing grapeseed oil again -> thumb much better. Read that grapeseed oil has anti-inflamatory properties, so the two might well be related...
Two posts in the same day might be considered excessive but I will be out of character and keep it brief! Went to the Good Doctor and she sympathized with my knee having tendonitis in an unusual place for a couple of weeks prior. Apparently this normally occurs on the inside but I have to be different and have it on the outside! Typical! This knee never complained before! Doc gave me a sleeve of material to support the knee which helped quite a bit. Sometimes wore it covering knee-cap and sometimes had the thing just below knee-cap. Still not completely happy. Tried some creams I have on hand but still little progress. THEN tried alternate treatments with Grape Seed Oil and then Castor Oil rubbed into the sore spots for a few minutes each time. "Ouch" ..no pain = no gain. Tried to do this a few times each day and have to say I am impressed. Only took two days to show a difference but then everyone on this Site knows I am a Spring Chicken!
For tendonitis, perform physical therapy to include stretching (Achilles tendon and calf muscles), strengthening, and use of anti-inflammatory methods, including ice, ultrasound, or iontophoresis. Iontophoresis is a treatment that uses an electric current to deliver dexamethasone to the affected area to reduce inflammation.
About 3 yrs ago I sprained my left thumb I worked 365 days a year in my janitorial business and though it hurt I kept using my thumb thinking it would take a little longer to heal but so what. I don't know when the tendonitis set in but I remember I couldn't use the thumb. I did research and no one had a cure. I am no novice with vitamins and supplements as I was taking quite a few at the time.
I did some research and the following are what I attribute to curing the tendonitis. Oh, I ran into some financial problems and stopped taking them it took about 9 months(I guess) for it to come back. Rescue 1250 10 pills a day, GLC 2000 per instructions, hyaluronic acid 50mg 2x a day, MSM 6,000mg a day(start slow), MSM cream 3x or more a day, serrapeptast 80,000IU's, calcium/magnesium 3,000mg a day. ACV 1teaspoon with meals and Ultra Source of Life liquid per instructions. I was already taking some of this anyway I simply added a few and increased dosages. I think the GLC 2000 was the key but its just a guess. I don't know how long it took to go away I just noticed one day it was gone. My guess is 3-4 months. U can experiment after the pain is gone and cut back on a lot of this it is pricey. I cut back on everything by easily 1/2. Good luck!
-BCAA (branch chain amino acids, use as directed) -muscle milk (protein drink, use as directed) I mixed BCAA into the protein drink.
-work out (exercise w/ dumbells, etc. ) 5 times a week
-stretch the tendon many times in the day, massaging the tendon (bring it to the surface) -after work out, ice tendon for 15 minutes, no more than that.
-Take Glucosamine Chondroitin W/ Msm triple strength 2 times a day
-the Glucosomin, stretching, exercise, and ice do it, don't leave anything out. After two weeks, take a day or two off doing absolutly nothing with that tendon.. then start back... You should feel it healing in about 5 days.. will be able to tell a huge difference in about 3 weeks.
