Apple Cider Vinegar
I love this website - full of amazing information.
I want to throw a question out there. I've been dealing with IBS most of my life. I get narrow, sticky and incomplete stools (often yellow in colour) with bloating, lack of appetite and insomnia. I eat only whole foods, including lots of healthy vegetables. Strangely the healthiest I ever felt was when I worked for my aunt, staying at her house a few days.
I'd have oatmeal and coffee in the morning and tofu stir-fry for dinner. This contained frozen vegetables (not organic) yet I had 2 healthy BMs a day.
Currently, I eat 3 healthy organic meals a day and I experience these symptoms. I eat homemade muesli for breakfast and I track my nutrition. I tried ACV, borax and bentonite clay to no avail. (ACV does make me feel energized/healthy though). Do any of you have any suggestions? Thank you so much for your time.

I was in Canberra doing a workplace assessment and could feel a bad cold coming on. Ended up having lunch at 4.30pm ... McDonald's Fillet of Fish, chips and a chocolate thick shake were woofed down. Long drive to get home around 9pm. Feeling sick. Sweats, aches and pains. Went straight to bed.
But I couldn't sleep. Lay there with indigestion. That Fillet 'o fish was stuck in my gullet and I couldn't lie down. Had to sit up. But I was so sick I couldn't sit up. I was a mess.
Had a really bad night. The next day still with indigestion... I came to this website. Saw about Apple Cider Vinegar.
I made up 2Tbsp of ACV with some honey and warm water. I only took 2 sips because I didn't want my gullet to be burnt out with ACV! Only 2 sips. Within a minute things felt better. Wasn't long and I could lie down again without the awful indigestion. I was so pleased. I then swallowed down the rest of the ACV and honey.
I've still got the rotten cold but NO INDIGESTION.
Apple Cider Vinegar
I have recently been getting acute epigastric (top of stomach between ribs) pain about 1 hour after eating fried food. My stomach bloats right there and the pain is excruciating! The first time it happened I went to the ER because I thought for sure I must be having a heart attack; I was told it was gas. I tried taking anti-gas medicine and it does work but takes too long to kick in. I tried baking soda and water...not sure how much cuz I just poured it in, but probably at, least 1 "T"ablespoon, and it did work; I threw up within a couple of minutes. This is all before I knew the pain was grease induced. Tonight I ate fish and chips and sure enough it happened again. I grabbed the apple cider vinegar and poured about 2 Tablespoons in with about 1 cup of water and downed it. Within 2 minutes the bubble burst and all better. It does taste bad, but it does work!
Now I need to find the underlying cause; I hardly ever eat fried food, but I want to get to the bottom of the problem.
Dear Beth, I often have exactly the same problem and I believe it's a gallbladder attack, not a gastointestinal issue. If I eat too much fat in one meal, I get severe pain and nausea just under my right rib, indicating a gallbladder attack (gallbladder is embedded in the liver under your right ribs, which is why the lower ribs can get sore.) Apple cider vinegar is my go to remedy, but I have started to do gallbladder cleanses several times a year as well.

I started taking 2 Tbsp. ACV in 1 cup of warm water first thing in A.M. before breakfast, hoping it wd help my diabetes. I have been taking this for 4 days now and my abdomen has shrunk remarkably! This may sound gross, but from the start I began belching up gas all day long. Obviously my stomach has been swollen for a few years due to trapped gas that just swelled my belly. Otherwise, I was not overweight. No amount of exersize helped. I am just elated and now hope that it will help my diabetes as well.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Wow..... .....after 7 days of of feeling like I was going to digest my guts!!! I finally found this website i took 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in 8 oz of water and within an half hour I feel much better. So far very good.
Empty in Montana.
Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey
I tried a teaspoon of Apple cider vinegar and tsp. of good honey in a cup of water, and it cured my indigestion. Drink it slowly (sip for 2 hours).
Cure for indigestion, nausea
After reading all the cures for flu! Using bicarbonate of soda, I wanted to add, that whenever I have bad indigestion or feeling nauseous, I take 1/4tspn bicarbonate soda dry on tongue, and swallow with cold water....cures these things within 20 mins....my dad told me of this years ago! Great cure!
An aunt of mine years ago suggested using 1 or 2 bay leaves in a hot cup of water for indigestion. Give it a try when there seems to be a lump in your upper abdomen especially after eating a heavy meal and you think you need one of those over-the counter anti-acid pills that are not so good for you. Bay leaf has worked for me countless times.
Betaine HCl for indigestion/upset stomach/steatorrhea [loose stools that left greasy tracks in the toilet:( ]
Mustard (plain yellow prepared) for heartburn.
Both wonderful, thank you God.
I occasionally have acid indigestion from not eating enough high-fiber fruits and vegetables, which really do more good than those over the counter fiber powders. I have found that eating a couple of bananas a day when I get this not only puts an end to the excessive acid, because it keeps my stomach busy. I also feel better physically because bananas contain potassium, which is a vital trace element that is easily washed out of the body by drinking commercial soft drinks. The pectin in apples and other fruit will reduce your cholesterol count, especially the bad cholesterol, and using extra virgin olive oil in a salad dressing, instead of a bottled dressing, will do the same thing.
Here is my salad dressing for a salad of mixed greens and cut up vegetables like zucchini, yellow squash, radishes, cucumbers, tomatoes, celery (I'm getting hungry!!)
Sprinkle freeze-dried mixed Italian herbs (you can mix them yourself) on the salad after all the vegetables and lettuce are in the bowl. This includes marjoram, thyme, rosemary, savory, sage, oregano and basil. There is also the popular salt-free brand which has been around for decades, and I use that a lot in cooking. Add some fresh or freeze-dried dill. Add garlic salt to taste and coarsely ground black pepper. Drizzle the juice of half to one full lemon - stick to your taste level on this -- over the salad and herbs, then drizzle about one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil over that, and toss the whole salad thoroughly, to coat all the lettuce and vegetables. Taste it before you finish it. Be conservative with the lemon juice, it can be bitter if too much is used.
My mother showed me how to make salad this way many long years ago, and it is the best thing you can eat. It is filling and will keep your digestive system regular if you eat this kind of salad every day.
Normally, apple cider vinegar works great for my indigestion. But it wasn't quite enough this time. So I decided to gnaw on a little bit of ginger, and that seems to be doing the trick.
Side note - since I began adding magnesium chloride (the main ingredient in a concentration of liquid trace minerals) to my water, my digestion (and therefore lack of indigestion) has improved drastically. Although tonight was different, I rarely need anything more than just this water to digest food properly.
Hydrate 30 Minutes Before Eating
I read a lot and Dr. Batmanghelidj wrote in his books that if you drank water half an hour before you ate, your stomach would be coated so your organs could dump the acids and bile to digest the food. He said without the water it would harm your stomach to drop the acid in, because most of us are unaware of our level of dehydration. He taught that most digestion issues would begin with dehydration, which includes minerals in balance.
Dehydration is interesting and I am not one that has it figured out because cortisol plays into it. Many people were raised in fear, worry, stress, and anxiety all of which produce cortisol . You learn how to live by watching those who role model for you. My parents were not worriers and I don't tend to worry. I do fear though because they created an unpredictable stressful atmosphere around me.
I find that I have to unlearn those thought patterns even after years of being away from them. So cortisol is made when the body is getting ready to run from the bear and it is a steroid hormone that requires borrowing from different areas of the body hormones, minerals, and water to get it all going .( Your body does not plan to digest food when planning to run from the bear, it is preparing for the crisis only).
When you get low on something, your body makes choices for you. Like the heart needs to keep beating but you could live without magnesium for other functions. Blood test usually don't pick up magnesium shortages until your heart is stopped. So there are like 300 enzyme systems using magnesium in the body and producing stress hormone, cortisol affects that.
So magnesium is what calms you down and helps you rest, sleep .
If you produce a lot of cortisol your body is probably not making any bile in the liver to drop into the gallbladder and you have a lot problems with the whole digestive system. You can take ox bile to prime your bile pumps in your liver if you are living on cortisol.
You can take hydrochloric acid to aid in digestion but it would be better to learn and overcome the root issues. Acid affects bacteria and enzymes in your gut. Too low on acid will make bad microbes flourish and infections can set in.
There are things you can do to lower cortisol, but if your adrenal glands are working overtime you can get adrenal failure and that will affect your life. It's called addison's disease. Baths and swimming take water from you and your skin wrinkles . Sweating removes water and minerals . Coffee and diuretics remove water and minerals. Lack of minerals or an imbalance of them can make water flow right through you and not stop to hydrate you. Well, this section needed this light from our friend Batman. Blessings, Charity

hey ….everyone ….I pasted …..wahooooooo : )
Charity, I agree with all you just said. I have NEVER been a good sleeper and have, for as long as I can remember, had IBS-D. Taking a look back, I don't remember EVER being without fear. My mother had ptsd from WWII (immigrated in 1952) and was a terror. For some reason, I was the target for all her animus. As an adult, I am still afraid much of the time. Never had enough money or adequate housing/food until recently. I wouldn't know how to relax if I had the chance. Now my husband is very ill and I'm having to deal with that, so there has never been a stretch of time for me to get myself in order. So, how do I get out of this? I try to care for myself, but that only goes so far. I cannot take magnesium except topically because of the ibs. The only time I really sleep well is when I'm drugged (just had surgery and have tramadol, sleeping great! Until it runs out). It's not so easy as do this, that and the other. How do I get my psyche under control? I really think that is the key to all my issues, just don't know what to do.
Stay calm and you produce less cortisol. Self talk ; I am well and I am taking the right course of action and I don't second guess/question my choices when I make them . I journal and give myself time to learn new things. I am taking daily short walks to refresh myself and take in nature. I am focusing on things I am so thankful for in my life and the world I get to be a part of. I am wonderfully made and my body was created to self heal. I am thankful even for those areas that helped me survive that don't make sense to me yet . I look forward to more self awareness so I can let go of brokenness and walk in the victory of wholeness and health . I am not afraid when I trust in my creator who loves me more than I can fathom. I rest in storms because he is awake and angels are with me . I can do all the things that need done today in Christ and I take no care about tomorrow, he cares for the birds and feeds his creatures. I am loved and cherished . He watches over me and sings love songs. I can see me dancing with my savoir on streets of gold. He is not subject to time so he says well done my good an faithful servant, I am so proud of you . Don't measure yourself against adversity you feel too hard. Measure yourself in my eyes...I am so pleased with you my daughter …...
Eric Berg on diarrhea information, I tried to paste that but you can go to youtube and get insights from Eric on gut issues . You may need to buy greens or grow them with magnesium salts so the plant can turn it into a form you can eat without issues . I watched Doug and Stacy homesteaders talk about putting mag salt in soil of plants, so you eat the plant to get the mag that agrees with you processed by the plant.
Hydrogen Peroxide in Water for Nausea, Excess stomach acid (dyspepsia) & gnawing, empty stomach feeling (not relieved by eating)
For the past few days, I'd felt increasingly worse. I'd wake up STARVING - feeling as if I needed to eat EVERYTHING in sight, but eating didn't stop it, and I felt quite nauseous at the same time. I had taken ginger capsules and wintergreen mints, but neither helped. I couldn't take it anymore, so came to EarthClinic. I have ACV, but was hesitant to use it. I had a bottle of 3% food grade HP in the fridge, so I decided to try it. Poured 1/8ish tsp into a small glass of water, stirred, and drank it down. Within 10 minutes I felt almost entirely normal again! Just amazing! I'll be using this again, right away if it comes back!
I just turned 41 and started getting horrible indigestion, as painful as the worst freezer brain ever, but in the center of my chest. After trying Prilosec for a month, what a joke. I called my nurse after an 8 agonizing hour bout of indigestion, she prescribed Prevacid @ $178 for a 30 day supply, this was also crap! I was laying on my floor in agony and could hardly breathe it hurt so bad after taking 2 doses. 3-4 hours later I felt no improvement. I don't know why, but I got up and decided out of desparation to try drinking a few drops of regular bathroom peroxide, 4-5 looking drops worth from the cap, into a half full water bottle, less than 1 minute later, no exagerration, try for yourself, there wasn't even the faintest bit of pain! I went to bed and laid there waiting for it to return, it never came back, I was asleep within minutes! Everybody should give this a try, its amazing! This stuff is some kind of miracle concoction, I don't know what else to say, just try it!
