Blackstrap Molasses helped with my menstrual cramps. I took 1-2 tablespoons during each day of my period. It did not take away all the cramping but it has drastically reduced them to the point where I am taking a Midol occasionally during my period instead of eating Advil like candy. I think if I take 2 tablespoons each day the cramps may go away completely. I am also noticing that the Molasses in conjunction with another homeopathic seems to be lightening my flow. This is great news as I was contemplating going back on the pill just to get a lighter period again. I tried taking the Molasses everyday but it seemed to increase my acne so I am only taking it during my period. 2 months down and I am singing its praises!! Thanks to all on Earth Clinic who posted remedies and comments, it is extremely helpful.

Omega 3

I have suffered from extreme menstrual cramps for years. I started taking Omega 3 Fish Oil capsules for 1 week before my period started (the recommended dose on the label). The fish oil reduced my PMS symptoms, and my cramps were reduced by approx 80%. I didn't even have to take painkillers and I slept better too. NB - you need to start taking the pills 1 week before your period starts. It may be too late to start taking them when the cramps start.

Research on fish oil and menstrual cramps can be found here: http://www.oilofpisces.com/menstrualcramps.html

Ginger for Menstural Cramps

I used to take Motrin Ibuprofrin for menstural cramps, and now I am so happy to have discovered a natural cure.
I boil 8 cups of water add about 2 inches of fresh ginger root that has been cut into 1/8" disks. You can mash up the ginger if desired. Boil the ginger for three minutes, then simmer for ten minutes. You can drink as ginger water, or add a tea bag (i like to add two green tea bags). Two cups of ginger water should relieve the cramps. I usally save the rest in my fridge and drink as needed.

I read on your site that ACV was great for bloating, PMS, and menstrual cramps. So, in the morning and at night I began drinking 1 tablespoon ACV in 8 oz. water with honey or agave nectar to sweeten. Bloating was gone within 1 day. A couple of weeks later, I had no cramps with my period, and the bleeding only lasted 3 days. Usually, I have to take ibuprofen for one day b/c of cramping and general pelvic pain.

The next month, I forgot to keep up with the ACV (it's not something I crave!), and it was one of the most painful 3 days of a period I've had in a very long time. So, I remembered the ACV treatment the next month. My period sneaked up on me again. No pain at all. I only use the natural ACV with the "Mother". It helps to mix up a couple of quarts at a time and keep it in the refrigerator.

I tried Blackstrap Molasses after reading about it on this site. I was so amazed that it worked so quickly. I was only taking a teaspoon once a day for a couple of days before my period started and I didn't have any cramps. And I ALWAYS get cramps. Thanks Earth Clinic and all the people who write about their experiences!

Glad your pickle juice worked to stop your cramps. However, if menstrual cramps is always a problem, you might remember that a magnesium supplement goes along way in elliminating these cramps. Magnesium deficiency is one of our major deficiencies now.

re: BSM for cramps. I used 1-2 TBS in tea or coffee at the start of cramps and throughout my period and only had to pop one Aleve this cycle instead of 4-5. Takes effect in about 30 minutes. I've also been oil pulling and drinking acv (2 TBS) and baking soda (1/4tsp) 6 out of 7 days since thanksgiving 2007 so this may have helped also. Thanks Earth Clinic!

I tried using blackstrap molasses for a extremely heavy period with clots and severe cramps. I have been having the problem for over two years and have been to the doctor a few times to see what could be done about this problem. The doctor advised me to go on birth control pills which I did not want to do. I found this website and thought there is no way this could work but I'm going to try it. I started using the BSM about two weeks ago. I have definitely noticed with this period that it is lighter and I can't believe I'm hardly have any clots and no "flooding" this time. Also cramping is minimal this time. I'm going to keep up the treatment and I will let you all know my progress. I'm ecstatic! Thank You EC!

Oil Pulling

I have been doing Oil pulling for one month. I read that it helps hormonal problems, but i didnt think it would erradicate my cramps. But after pulling for 1 month, my menstrual cramps and other pms associated problems are almost non existant. For the first time in years i was able to spend the first day of my course like any other normal day, not bent over in agonizing pain. And my skin has cleared up as well. My sister started OP and after a week she had the same outcome!! No Cramps. I will continue to OP and wait to see all the benefits from "pulling" the toxins out of my body. I also find that it is VERY!!! important that you brush your teeth and drink a large glass of water after pulling because you are releasing these poisonous toxins and you want to get them out.

I tried the blackstrap molasses remedy last month for menstrual cramps and heavy bleeding. I started taking it right about when my period started. It helped a little bit, but I did still have some cramping. But I have been taking it every day for the past month and a half, and when I had my period this month, I had ABSOLUTELY NO CRAMPING! How wonderful! I think the bleeding was a normal level as well. Thanks for much for the info! I take 2 tablespoons of blackstrap molasses every morning in a glass of water along with 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar.

Dear everybody, Thank you for your inspiring info about molasses. I have had fibroids for the last 3 years and all my life suffered from horrible period cramps. I was encouraged to drink 1' tsp of molasses daily with a cup of hot water day and night for the last 1 month and much to my amazement for the first time in my life i experienced no cramps whatsoever. I'm confident my fibroids will be a thing of the past soon...Keep up the good work guys. Ill keep you posted.

I had the most terrible cramps, I wasnt sure whether this was from overdosing on coconut oil (as it has done this to me previously) or just menstrual cramps (I only get them sometimes)

I put a thick slice of ginger, honey and sprinkle of cinnamon in hot water and sipped it. About an hour later, the cramps had completely gone. Will have to experiment again as I am a little sceptic and could well have been coincidence. Just wish I could heal my piriformis syndrome next lol

Love this site!!!!!

Evening Primrose Oil for Menstrual Cramps:

It works!!!!!!! Ok I have only tried this once so I will update later. I took one the day my period started then I took another later that day. The soft gels I used were 1000mgs each. I took them for 3 days two a day. (My period is 3 days). I know this is going to only get better as I DID NOT HAVE TO TAKE ANY ACETAMINOPHEN/TYNENOL not one!!!!! And I always have, even when tying other remedies that I want to be strong but cant and end up taking the tynenol due to me not being able to stand my cramps. For my upcoming period I will try to take more as to not have any cramps at all. As I did have cramps but they were very light, not like the ones I have previosly gotten. Maybe I'll start a couple days/ week earlier like the other person suggested. Like I said ill update, but wow what a difference. Thank you father for creating such beautiful nautural working products like this <3. I bought it at Walmart, but any kind will do, I suggest cold pressed if you can get it.

Also know that the evening primrose oil is good for pain in general. Try for heaches too!

Pass the love forward- Sunny

Mrs.kennedy0711, have you tried Blackstrap Molasses?

Hi, Quite a few of us can sympathise- this is all too common but not normal. If you have been bleeding for over a month you should ask your doctor or nurse to check your blood count for anemia - sometimes anemia makes the bleeding worse. As a desperate measure to stop or lighten the flow you can do either or all of the following- drink 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a half glass of water- whilst the flow is heavy drink this 3 times a day- it may well stop the flow altogether. The other cure is 1 tablespoon of black strap molasses 3 times a day- you will need to drink plenty of water with this. In England our doctors merrily prescribe a drug called transemic acid for this which also works well but there are side effects eg headaches so natural is better. Heavy periods are a sign of oestrogen dominance, this is a precancerous condition and should be taken seriously. You need to look at your diet.

You drink only one cup per day? I tried two cups a day for quite a while and had some results but not nearly as outstanding as yours. Really, only one cup?

I started out with 2 cups per day but now I just drink 1 cup every day and it works fine.

I have been having menstrual cramps to a varying degree for the past few years and thought that I just had to live with them for the rest of my life. Fortunately I found this website and tried red raspberry tea. Wow, I could not believe that it worked. It seemed too easy. I drank one cup of tea in the morning and one in the evening 2 days before my period started until 2 days after it started and I had no cramps at all. I highly recommend giving this a try. I will keep doing this for the next few months and if anything changes I will let you know.
