The baking soda and water works. My chest was burning and I couldn't sleep, so I mixed a lil bit of baking soda in a cup of water and it instanly made me feel better. My chest actually felt cool afterwards. This works great.

I have had acid reflux for about 7 years now mine is chronic so it'll never go away, but I found that if you have really bad heartburn drink a COLD glass of milk and it'll sooth the pain. If it doesn't go away after one glass get another and keep doing this process until your heartburn dies down.

Combine these 2 and it will work like a dream!

For heartburn, try cold milk, two sips at a time.
Probiotics

I bought a 120 capsule bottle of Nutrition Now Probiotics PB8, and started taking 2 morning and night. Within days my stomach was feeling "normal". Hurrah....no more heartburn. I've even tested it, by eating something that would normally have caused a problem and it was not a problem at all! I would recommend giving this a try for heartburn and acid reflux.
Carbonated Beverages

HI U DON, , , , , , , , sit down and let me tell you a story. The reason Coca-Cola bottles were originally designed the way they were was because of the pressure the carbonation built up in the bottle. The pH of a coke in the 40's and 50's was 2.4 and that's quite acidic. If you had an upset stomach then your mom gave you a coke to drink. As kids, we had contests to see who could drink a 6 oz coke without stopping. No one could because the CO2 came out your nose, ears, eyes and everywhere.
Soda's today have very little carbonation and will not settle your tummy. They contain corn syrup and will only give you a butt. Get a kick out of today's young folks who think history began when they were born. We had an advantage because we had parents that told us stories of the the past.
Time is neigh and our culture is changing and passing me by.

Hi Carole, What I have found to be very effective for heartburn is squeezing 3 to 5 lemons & drink it undiluted & within 15 mins your heartburn is gone, but to address the cause, do not eat when you are upset because it shuts down the digestive juices & the food just lies in your stomach & rots & causes acid & the lemon juice gets things going again.

Many thanks for this website. I had heartburn like 4-5 times a day before I started using ACV. After two months of taking it, I may only have very very minor heartburn once a week. I took a tbsp of ACV with honey and warm water. Once I took 4-5 tbsp for my flu a few days. But now my teeth can't stand for it. I felt like they were going to crack even though I was not eating. So I switched to less than 1 tbsp and added molasses for my grey hair this morning. I also made the homemade toothpaste to remineralize my teeth. I just tried last night and I don't feel like they are going crack now. I also did the coconut oil pulling. Lets see the result later.

I find that it helps to drink the ACV water through a straw--that way it bypasses the teeth.

My hubby was having issues with heartburn and acid reflux, he thought he was having a heart attack at one point. He went to a doc in Canada and after she checked him over she asked if he drank a lot of coffee and he said yes. She told him to try not drinking coffee for a week and if that didn't help come back and see her. Well, as it turns out it did help. Kick the coffee and see how you feel in a week ;o}

I had chronic heartburn too (like 6-8 Tums Ultra a day chronic) and was not about to start monkeying with my acid pumps. I went gluten free and have not had heartburn since. If I cheat, I get horrific heartburn and feel generally colicky

Be sure that you rinse your mouth out after you take the ACV though. PProlonged contact with teeth enamel can cause sensitivity.
Mustard, Pickle Juice

I almost never have heartburn but had a terrible episode last night. Decided to check Earth Clinic for ideas and the mustard seemed like something I could keep down. The heartburn was so bad I thought I was going to start throwing up, so had to be careful what I ingested. Didn't think I could handle undiluted ACV, as many people apparently have used with success. I used about a teaspoon of mustard. No problem getting it down. As I was putting the mustard away I saw the pickle jar so thought I try that, too. I downed about a shot glass full of pickle juice. I guess the pickle juice and mustard work because they're made with vinegar, but far tastier than straight ACV. By the time I walked to my bedroom to go to sleep the heartburn was gone!

Watch out for mustard packets from restaurants etc.. They are usually full of preservatives & sugar & low quality! All things that contribute to acid accumlation (heartburn)

Hi, I stumbled across this site at work today and have been reading all the great remedies on it. However, I see ACV works for a number of things mainly heartburn. I just thought that I should also comment on how Lemon juice is great for AR/Heartburn. I heard about this as an old folk storie from my Grandmother.
What you do is take a small glass, and just fill the bottom of the glass with Lemon Juice, then dilute it with about a half or a quarter full with water. Then gulp it down in one go. It works like a charm for me, and I must admit I have tried almost every other remedy out there, most of which only gave temporary relief.

I read somewhere here on earthclinic that if you take too much ACV, your stomach makes less of it's own acid. I've used the water cure with good success (using unrefined sea salt or celtic salt). A lot of people seem to have success with the mustard method, too. I'm going to try that, as I've been slacking off on the salt lately & the burn is returning!

I tried a remedy for heartburn or gerd that I read on another website. Take 1 tsp. of yellow mustard followed by about a half glass of water and to my surprise.......immediate relief. I,ve been doing this for about 3 days now and I haven't had any heartburn. I really get it bad, too. I've gotten heartburn from a glass of water. I've been taking Prevacid for at least 10 years. I had to stop taking it because it interfered with a more important medication that I take. Doctor gave me Zantac instead. It does nothing so I decided to try mustard.

I can't believe it! I had the worst heart burn today. Tonight it was making my chest ache and I didn't think it would go away. But then I found this website and ate a stick of celery, which was hard for me to believe, but now my chest is COMPLETELY painless after about 5 min!!! And the burning in my belly has almost completely subsided. I'm so happy, now I can sleep well :]
