I have had acid reflux for about 7 years now mine is chronic so it'll never go away, but I found that if you have really bad heartburn drink a COLD glass of milk and it'll sooth the pain. If it doesn't go away after one glass get another and keep doing this process until your heartburn dies down.

For heartburn, try cold milk, two sips at a time.
Probiotics
Posted by Natnmargie (Spokane, Wa) on 02/02/2015
I bought a 120 capsule bottle of Nutrition Now Probiotics PB8, and started taking 2 morning and night. Within days my stomach was feeling "normal". Hurrah....no more heartburn. I've even tested it, by eating something that would normally have caused a problem and it was not a problem at all! I would recommend giving this a try for heartburn and acid reflux.
Carbonated Beverages

I had heartburn once and treated it quickly with ginger ale. It only took less than half a mouthful and worked as soon as I swallowed it. I believe the carbonation was the reason it worked and not the ginger. If this is so then other carbonated beverages like cola and carbonated water should also work. I would be interested if someone could try these out and get back to me. Thanks and hope this works.

Hi Carole, What I have found to be very effective for heartburn is squeezing 3 to 5 lemons & drink it undiluted & within 15 mins your heartburn is gone, but to address the cause, do not eat when you are upset because it shuts down the digestive juices & the food just lies in your stomach & rots & causes acid & the lemon juice gets things going again.

THANK YOU for your advice. I have suffered with persistent heartburn problems for the last 2-3 months. My GP has prescribed increasingly higher doses of PPI's which did not appear to bring any significant benefit. A gastroscopy indicated upper tract inflammation but no other problems and I tested negative for H Pylori. 9 days ago I decided to ditch the drugs and try ACV ( 2 tblsp with honey in warm water) twice a day before meals - I also began taking Aloe vera juice. I felt much better within 2 days and have not looked back. I have been able to resume my yoga practice including inverted postures and have not had any disruption to my sleep. I am still taking care with my diet and am not fully back to normal, but it has only been just over a week. I am due to go travelling in china in @ 5 weeks - do you think I will need to take the ACV with me?

I had chronic heartburn too (like 6-8 Tums Ultra a day chronic) and was not about to start monkeying with my acid pumps. I went gluten free and have not had heartburn since. If I cheat, I get horrific heartburn and feel generally colicky
Mustard, Pickle Juice

I almost never have heartburn but had a terrible episode last night. Decided to check Earth Clinic for ideas and the mustard seemed like something I could keep down. The heartburn was so bad I thought I was going to start throwing up, so had to be careful what I ingested. Didn't think I could handle undiluted ACV, as many people apparently have used with success. I used about a teaspoon of mustard. No problem getting it down. As I was putting the mustard away I saw the pickle jar so thought I try that, too. I downed about a shot glass full of pickle juice. I guess the pickle juice and mustard work because they're made with vinegar, but far tastier than straight ACV. By the time I walked to my bedroom to go to sleep the heartburn was gone!

Apples is also what I use for heartburn. They stamp heartburn out almost instantly for me. I also found that eating a pear can do just as well.

Hi, I stumbled across this site at work today and have been reading all the great remedies on it. However, I see ACV works for a number of things mainly heartburn. I just thought that I should also comment on how Lemon juice is great for AR/Heartburn. I heard about this as an old folk storie from my Grandmother.
What you do is take a small glass, and just fill the bottom of the glass with Lemon Juice, then dilute it with about a half or a quarter full with water. Then gulp it down in one go. It works like a charm for me, and I must admit I have tried almost every other remedy out there, most of which only gave temporary relief.

I've suffered chronic heartburn for 8 years and finally got myself down to one OTC PPI every other day but that really was not enough.I had heard that PPI's are bad for the bones. I am a 54 y/o woman, so I just had to get off this stupid pill. I have tried and tried to get off the proton pump inhibitor but always had to go back. Well I am so glad I found this info! I got the organic made in USA apple cider vinegar. 2 TEAspoons in 8 oz. 3 times a day.A little honey makes it quite refreshing on a hot day. I have it first thing in the morning, around midday and before dinner. No heartburn and I can even enjoy my cup of coffee and a before dinner beer. wow! It's only day 3 but usually by this time I am chewing antacids like crazy. have not even had one! I told my gastro guy I was going to do this and he said go ahead, it won't hurt you. I can't wait to tell him i am cured!! (fingers crossed)

I tried a remedy for heartburn or gerd that I read on another website. Take 1 tsp. of yellow mustard followed by about a half glass of water and to my surprise.......immediate relief. I,ve been doing this for about 3 days now and I haven't had any heartburn. I really get it bad, too. I've gotten heartburn from a glass of water. I've been taking Prevacid for at least 10 years. I had to stop taking it because it interfered with a more important medication that I take. Doctor gave me Zantac instead. It does nothing so I decided to try mustard.

So, every once in a while, I get some bad heartburn. My diet was horrible, Wendies and McDonalds because its cheap. I have since started eating better and cut back on the caffeine and that has been what has cured the heartburn. I even eat spicy foods with no problem. Before, though, when I did get the heartburn so badly that I couldn't sleep, I told my dad about it and he suggested pickle juice. My friends scoff, but it really does the trick. We always have pickles in the fridge so I tried it. Never fails. Everytime I get heartburn, I use it and it works everytime. Milk doesn't work or water. sometimes bread does the trick but fills you up and then its back with in an hour or so. Just a couple of swallows of pickle juice and its gone. I promise.

Aloha, thanks for the great suggestions on here for heartburn. I tried the mustard and it worked really well.
I suspect the reason the mustard, ACV and baking soda are the ones that work well for people is this: When I attended Natural Med.School - we were told that when someone has heartburn it is not because they have too much acid - but not enough. So taking mustard or apple cider vinegar or baking soda (all acidic) for the stomach and calm it down which stops the feeling of acid in the ribs and up. Thanks.
