Natural Remedies for Burning Mouth Syndrome

Vitamin B12, ALA

Have had bms for over a year and a half now and it wasn't until a couple months ago I knew the symptoms even had a name. Raw tongue throughout the day. Anything salty tasted like it was solid salt. Any oil in cooking made meals taste like they were covered in motor oil.

Started mega doses of subliminal B12 and alpha lipoic acid. Probably over 2400mgs a day. Got maybe 50% better. Then read where there are 2 versions of ala. An E type and S type. Most supplements have both forms but your body can only assimilate the R version. Have been on that version for almost a week now. 2400mg a day. Also super b complex.

I traced my beginning issues back to when I was put on gabapentin for anxiety. Have been on 1600mg a day for almost a year. Have backed that off to night time only at 400mg and will watch for withdrawal symptoms and discuss with my doctor in two weeks. Some sites say GABA helps bms other sites say it makes the symptoms worse.

I'm at my wits end with this hanging over my head from morning till night.

Alpha Lipoic Acid

After suffering for almost 2 years, going to multiple doctors and even a homeopathic practitioner, I made a list of possible remedies that I found in different forums online, and started to work my way down the list. Thank goodness, Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) was at the top. 200mg 3 x per day for 4-6 weeks, then dropped the dose to 200mg per day. - always on an empty stomach. It works pretty well - not 100%, but pretty well - and it's cheap. I started the ALA in April of 2013. It is now August of 2017. I am 53 yrs old. This all started when I was 47. I have very well controlled diabetes - no meds and am entering menopause - those were two of the factors that seem to be most represented in the studies I found. I am hoping that once I get through menopause this will just go away. By the way, I do have flair ups on the ALA that last for a few days but they are manageable.

Connection to Shingles or Herpes Virus

I few months ago I woke up with my tongue swollen and painful. I was on a cruise ship, so I chalked it up to too many mimosas/bloodies and maybe the acid got me. Well, it didn't really go away. Here's the chain of events leading up to this: 1. I had a cold sore outbreak about 2 weeks before I left on my trip. Then, I had some allergy issues from pollen in the air and used some Afrin nose spray. What I didn't realize was that the Afrin EXPIRED like 3 years ago!!! It was an old bottle. Well, I left the next day and came down with a TERRIBLE sinus infection...TERRIBLE!!! Obviously, I infected myself with something from old medication (that had been snuffed up my nose! ). The day after the nose thing cleared up, I woke up with my tongue swollen and on fire. Again, I thought it was too many acidy drinks on the ship. After I got home, about a week later, It sort of went down a bit and I thought I was on the mend. Then, I got my teeth cleaned at the dentist. Dentist ruled out Thrush..... She gave me these new tooth whitening trays to try out and see if my sensitive teeth could handle them. So, I picked a day and tried them out. Later that night, my teeth started aching, so no more whitening for me! Then, maybe 2 days later, my tongue was swollen and on fire AGAIN! It would kind of be better in the AM, then progressively get worse by evening. I read a bunch of stuff on the internet to figure out what this could possible be.

First things up were: Thyroid, Hormones or vitamin deficiency. I went for blood work, and it all came back fine. In the meantime, I started taking vitamin supplements anyway....Time passes.....I have used all kinds of things to get the pain down, really to no avail........Then............I remembered that in 2005 I had Shingles/Herpes in my right EYE!!! I know, weird, right? SO I looked up exactly which nerve Chicken Pox hangs out in and what it does. Well guess what? It's the same nerve that it lives in when it gets in your eye!!! And the symptoms I have been having match SHINGLES in my MOUTH!

I did a search for BMS and Herpes Shingles etc and all KINDS of stuff came up! SO, I called my dentist and started on Valtrex yesterday. Call me crazy, but I think it may be helping. It has only been a day, and it's early yet, so we will see. Apparently, you can get it in your mouth without having blisters. I'll update in a few days on how this is working! Oh, and I am a 49 year old female in good health, on no meds, not overweight, BP nice and low. I hope this helps someone!!!

I eliminated gluten and my burning mouth completely subsided after less than 2 weeks. I am convinced I am gluten intolerant, because of the many digestive issues that have also subsided. I would rather never eat those things again than have that constant burning in my mouth. after 5 years, relief finally!

I have been suffering from BMS for almost eight years now and have been reading up every article or item I can get my hands on to help educate myself on any possible cures out there. The medical profession seems to be either ignorant of its existence as an ailment or powerless to help. I also suffer from food allergies which I have now read are possibly related and which means I have Type 3 BMS (there are 3 types according to the website medscape). Anyway, have tried everything, every diet, every pill, every alternative therapy... Nothing has helped. I suppose I will end my days with the horrible ailment, I would not wish on my worst enemy. My mother also suffered from it, but not my three sisters, so far. Am trying the coconut oil, solid from the refridgerator which does ease the pain for a short time. Also doing the baking soda and water twice a day combined with lemon juice in water. Somethimes I get some relief, other times no relief.

I am 58 now and although am almost resigned to having this curse forever, I would be most grateful for any help, suggestions anyone out there may have. Thanking you in advance.

After one year of suffering from BMS, I was prescribed Clonazepam. It started helping within a few hours, and I've been taking it once a day (late evening before going to bed) for about 1 year. I don't suffer any side effects and the mouth pain is reduced about 80% from where it was when I started. And the pain seems to slowly be diminishing. It was quite bad at first.

Clonazepam is pretty cheap, but requires a prescription. My doctor has also asked me to replace coffee with green tea and avoid carbonated beverages. Also, no alcohol based mouthwash. The symptoms seem to be slowly going away, but there's still a bit of discomfort at all times. It's tolerable and sometimes I don't even notice it. Quite a bit better than two years ago when it started. Better in the morning, hurts more in the afternoon, and better in the late evening.

My doctor described BMS as a little bit like tinnitus (ringing of the ears), where there really isn't a ringing sound, but the brain thinks there is, and the Clonazepam stops the brain from thinking that there is burning in the mouth. So far, we have had to change the dosage and it's working for me. Plus, the stuff helps me sleep better at night.

That's my experience. Dave

I have been suffering with BMS for 10 years now. Recently about two months back I found Earth Clinic and I decided to do what TED said. He said to try baking soda 1/4 teaspoon in a half glass of water for two weeks that will get rid of burning mouth or burning toungue. It is burning because of acid in mouth (most of are too much acidic) but you need to avoid dairy, sugar ( all even honey and substitues sugars)and white bread and white grains (like white rice) Take any thing that is brown, like wheat bread, brown rice, oatmeal, corn bread is ok. ( unless you are allergic to gluten) because the gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley and oats. Then you can eat only corn and rye and ofcourse gluten free stuff which is really hard to find. Drink lemon (1/2 sqeezed)with one glass of water ( 8 ounce)atleast two times a day when you are taking Soda bicarb in water.

Good luck!

I really got rid of burning mouth but I still have weird taste in the mouth that I think will go away with time. Sugars are eliminated for at least 6 months for these conditions to go away. I even got rid of Migraines since I got rid of sugars.

I had my gallbladder removed 18 years ago and I was getting bloating and uneasiness in my stomach also for that I have been taking "Lecithin" just once a day with food. (It helps to break your fats and helps in digestion if you need to take it two times a day with your main meals it is ok too)

Good luck every one. It is not easy to leave all sugar, dairy and white bleached flour ( every food we consume has either suger, dairy or white flour) I am satisfied with this remedy but I also have leg cramps ( heavy legs) I am taking Vitamin E and doing some yogas that are helping me a little but not very much. May be it will take sometime before I can say anything since I just started this yoga a week ago.

My boyfriend had burning lip syndrome several times in his life. So miserable for him. We tried everything, brushing only with baking soda, peroxide rinse in mouth, and only relief he got was from ice cube. Finally went to doctor. He had a huge overgrowth of Candida. He took anti-fungal medicine and we went on basic no carb diet for two months. We drank lots of water. He detoxed hard. He hated giving up bread, beer, candy, chips, junk food and so after two months he quit. It stopped the burning on his lips. He never went back to toothpaste, just baking soda. We kept toothbrushes in peroxide and replaced them every two weeks. Candida once gets in your blood, systemic, is hard to get rid of. We also took pills, [email protected], has an amazing set. he's on YouTube Eric Bakker.

Saffron and Goldenseal

I have recently been diagnosed with BMS by an oral medicine specialist and prescribed clonozepam rinse. It made me feel awful, detached from my body even though I wasn't swallowing it.

Through trial and error and consuming all the usual supplements for this condition (Alfa lipoic acid, zinc, vitamin B's, soda, clove etc - to very little effect) I have found most relief in the last few days from saffron tea (20 strands per glass of hot water, steeped for 10 min) I sip it throughout the morning and hold it in my mouth before swallowing it.

Also at the same time I started taking Goldenseal - dissolve a capsule in half a glass of water and hold in my mouth for about 3 min then swallow it. Don't know what works better.

There is a lot of studies recently about saffron treating depression, BMS and other conditions. I'm not out of the woods yet as my mouth is still not back to normal but this is the first little sign of improvement I've experienced in the last two months. To be continued...

Jules, you may be onto something! I do know that L-lysine is a "cure" for herpes. Shingles is herpes zoster, another of the nine types herpes types. I got type 2 which will appear once every couple years. My wife has type 1 which shows up very rarely these days. Anyway, for both of us, L-lysine, a couple grams a day will quickly make the outbreaks vanish. Thus, I will try the L-lysine for my BMS. I try to avoid all prescription/OTC drugs; L-lysine is a natural amino acid. For every health problem, there are natural remedies. The precaution for the L-lysine is to make sure it wasn't derived from genetically modified corn. By the way, a huge portion of the population has at least one type of herpes aboard. Symptoms will appear under times of duress, whatever the cause of the upset is.

Mary, definitely try the ALA. If you look online, you will see several studies for ALA and BMS. That's how I took it, after enduring BMS for over a year.

At first, I was in despair, because I thought nothing was happening. I had determined to follow the study's way of doing it exactly, so I hung in there and kept going. It wasn't until the very end, when I started tapering off the dose that I finally got some relief. It cleared up entirely, and I've been free from that awful burn for nearly a year now. So, do give it a try!

Here is an article for you. Http://www.livescience.com/50455-burning-mouth-syndrome-herpes.html

Burning mouth can be caused by infectious organisms and certain drugs but you definitely do not have an antidepressant deficiency so that wont cure it but may create additional problems.

Some types of virus are controlled by dmso so that would be a cheap easy way to start and see if it will work for you.

A more severe organism that can be the cause of trouble like this is mycoplasma infection. If doctor prescribed antivirals don't work, if dmso fails to work then try colloidal silver or a big gun virus / mycoplasma killer called gallium nitrate. Certain types of nerve infection are horribly painful until gallium nitrate comes along and nukes the germs responsible. Have a great day.

Approximately 2 months ago I changed to a whitening toothpaste for a chance at whiter teeth. Succesfully the toothpaste worked right away (I mean the first time I used it), which of course left me suspicious. With no apparent health decline I continued to use this product with much happiness until just a few weeks ago. The initial suspicion about the toothpaste left my thoughts by this time. At first I thought that I was getting a cold because of the mouth irritation. So I took all of the preventative measures I knew, to rid my body of any other cold symptoms. A few days later I still had no signs of a cold. However the mouth burning continued to worsen reaching to my tongue and making it unbearable to brush my teeth. About a week into the intense burning, my mouth started to secrete a foul taste whenever I drank or ate anything. The day I started tasting this metallic/chalky/bitter taste in my mouth, I typed it into google and found a forum full of people with the exact symptoms I had. They claimed that it was 'burning mouth syndrome'. I did a little research and found that a stressor or change is what experts are thinking causes this 'syndrome'. For me I found that within 1 day my symptoms lessened by immediately switching from whitening toothpaste to 'Pro namel'! I believe that some of the things that people are putting in their mouths happen to be toxic to the cells and taste glands. In my case it happened to be a tooth whitening product. However there are many toxins hiding in our bathrooms and kitchens that we don't even realize are there.

Are you thinking that bananas make burning mouth symptoms worse? I love bananas but have been thinking I should eliminate them from my diet for a while too. I'm running out of fruits to eat; I've already eliminated mangos, oranges, melons, berries and others. I'm definitely going to try the cold coconut oil pieces to see if that can relieve the burning. I do have acid reflux and take omeprazole daily. I also take Levothyroxine for a thyroid condition. I'm a 65 year old female. It helps to read that I'm not alone and my symptoms are not "in my mind" and are real.

I get a burning sensation on the roof of my mouth in the rear twards the enterance of my throat when ever I eat starchy, flowery, foods, like Bisquick, Mrs. Butterworth, or pretty much any pancake mixes.

I have spent my adult life avoiding starchy carbohydrates as I might just as well attatch them to my waistline as that is where they go. I love the taste of breads and potatoes but dropping them from my diet also dropped my weight and waistline.

What causes the burning on the roof of my mouth? I think I remember reading that your mouth is the fastest way for starchy carbs to get into your bloodstream and mess with your sugar. Any input?

I tried taking ALA. It made my liver enzymes elevate. After 5 years of suffering from BMS, I also had some digestive issues. I had begun to address the digestive issues through research and elimination of certain foods. I came to the conclusion, I was gluten intolerant. After eliminating gluten from my diet, the burning in my mouth completely stopped. After 5 years. And the digestive issues have also ceased. I had gas, bloating, indigestion and just complete discomfort after eating. I was diagnosed with acid reflux and took those treatments. Turns out the gluten allergy was causing it all. Please try this, just to see. I can't tell you how relieved I am!

I have suffered from BMS now for ten years and find that after trying all the natural remedies posted online, the only thing that helps me is clonazepam. While I hate taking this drug it is better than suffering the pain of BMS. Unfortunately the body gets used to it after a certain time and you have to keep increasing the dose.

I also tried the ALA treatment which seemed to help initially but then the BMS came back again, so I went back to the clonazepam. The down side is the drug is highly addictive and the side effects when coming of it are horrendous, which I found out when I stopped using it while trying the ALA treatment. Much as I hate taking this drug it is better than suffering the BMS, I understand how this disease can drive people to suicide. Only people suffering from BMS can understand how bad it can get.

Burning Gums

I suffered with gums that were on fire for over 2 years. I tried everything - and came here a lot for inspiration.

Nothing worked. Then I discovered red light therapy. I was hopeful that could work & it did! I ordered the Handheld Red Light Therapy Device Pro from U----e. This red light has an attachment tip you can put in your mouth. I saw something similar also on Amazon.

The day I received it, I used it for 20-25 minutes on my entire gums. That night, I observed that the pain had turned to a tingling sensation that lasted all night.

When I woke up the next morning, I was pain free! I still use it occasionally on my gums, but for the most part, I have remained pain free. Praise God!

I had burning mouth syndrome for about a year. It was very painful at first but I found a doctor in Ithaca, Dr Richard Cohen. He is a doctor of homeopathic medicine and he is very knowledgeable regarding burning mouth. He prescribed supplements that did make it go away, unfortunately I had a skin reaction to the supplements. But by following his diet (no grains, they fuel the inflammation) it gradually decreased. I now know which foods I have to avoid ( raw strawberries, orange juice) and I have found foods that help (weirdly, hot pepperoni and chamomile tea.) So hang in there and keep working at it until you figure out what makes it worse and what helps. Keeping a food journal was very helpful.

Thank you so much for posting - I have been suffering with BMS now for about 2 years. It seemed to have started during a tooth implant procedure but I was also going through my life changes. As I was reading your post I started relaxing my tongue and I can't believe that it actually started to make a difference. Looking back on the past couple of years, I realize now that I too unconsciously move my tongue around a lot as it seems I just can't get it into a comfortable place; and my mouth and jaw have been very tense. In trying to consciously relax my tongue and letting it bathe as you suggested, I almost can't feel the annoying sensations while in this relaxed state. I will be consciously trying to relax a few times a day now in hopes that it will get me into the habit - I am hopeful that this will work. I am very excited, as this is something I NEVER thought about. The funny thing is when I first started reading your post, I thought to myself, Nah, that's never going to work, but as I kept reading and started to relax my tongue, I was amazed as how almost immediately I felt a difference. The irritation is still there, but a lot more tolerable and it's only been about 10 mins. It makes sense now as to why BMS reportedly gets progressively worse through out the day as stress levels grow. Now it makes perfect sense as to why relaxation can work! I'm hoping that by relaxing, it will give my mouth a chance to heal and maybe this thing will finally go away. The mind is a very powerful thing! Thanks so much again and God Bless!

Carol, thank you so much for your reply! I hope you can find some relief from this little relaxation technique. In my case, things got better slowly. After the first week I could go hours without thinking about it. After that, it could be days without thinking about it. Now it comes and goes, mostly around supper time. But I know it will go away in a few hours.

I remember the Burning tongue feeling getting a little better after a teeth cleaning. I was worried all this playing around in there would make it worse, but no. I remember going to the grocery store after the appointment, running my tongue over my teeth and feeling: oh! It feels really clean. I KNOW it is clean so I don't need to check 50 times an hour!! I didn't make the connection then, but looking back and knowing what I know now, this was a big clue!

With your burnt coffee syndrome, do you have tiny little red bumps that go with it? I do, and also my husband says my tongue, gums and the roof of my mouth look orange. Anyone have this. I feel sorry for anyone that has this, it is very uncomfortable to say the least. My God help us all, so many people sick now days, because of all the junk they are adding to our foods, water, and the air we breathe. :( I try and eat as much organic and non GMO as possible, but it is kinda impossible to be 100% free of it. If you don't get relief from all-the-above suggestions you will definitely need to do a colon cleanse and a parasite cleanse, as these conditions cause chronic infections that do not remedy by either pharmaceutical or natural medicines.

Try an elimination diet of all food allergens - I'm in the process of doing a 10 day one for Hashimotos autoimmune disease (Dr Ks diet). I went gluten and coffee free a few weeks back and already my burning mouth syndrome has gone. With the elimination diet you completely clean up your body and then introduce things back in slowly to see what triggers your body - you'll be amazed at other little ailments just dissappearing - my back ache (which I've suffered with for 9 months) has also gone - what's that all about!!! I would recommend elimination diet to anyone suffering with this - it's hard going but well worth it.

I am 46 years old and have had burning tongue/mouth syndrome for 2 years and 7 months and yes, have spent literally thousands of dollars on doctor/dentist/specialists, lab work, more lab work, etc and am currently on Dr. #11. My chiropractor/nutritionist is helping the most. My story is similar in that the burning mouth and neck pain started together. Sometimes things seem to help and then the burning comes back and progressively gets worse. I have tried every remedy out there and then some. I have cleaned my body of yeast, have lost 15 pounds on an already very slim frame, avoid sugars (except red wine in evening. It numbs my mouth and is my only source of relief), breads, found I am very allergic to all dairy and eggs and have slight to moderate allergies of many foods. I eat extremely healthy and am scared of literally everything I consume. I am perimenopausal and the burning tongue/mouth and neck pain started in the midst of my mother's decline in her long battle with COPD. Some doctors thought it was stress related and the burning would subside after she passed. She died 15 months ago and it has not left. I have not had a single day without burning in my mouth in 2 years and 7 months. I am going to try the Zegrid starting tonight. My chiropractor ran tests that show I am significantly lacking in progesterone and when I started the natural oil 2 weeks ago, it made a tremendous improvement in the burning sensation. 2 weeks on progesterone, then 2 weeks off. I just started the 2 weeks off, 2 days ago, and they burning returned with a vengeance. This is a horrible affliction. I can sympathize with those that end their lives over this. This is all consuming and prior to this affliction, I rarely visited doctors. There is so much more I could write but I will stop for now and check back in once I have gone through a few rounds of progesterone and a month of Zegrid. Wish me luck please. And luck to everyone out there who suffers from this devastating affliction. Thank you for sharing Ashley.

I eliminated gluten 6 years ago and rarely, if ever, ingest it now (I get a reaction, so I usually know), yet have developed a burning tongue in the last three to four months.

Removing gluten may help because it removes wheat which turns to glucose in the body. There is evidence that this issue is linked to higher levels of sugar in the bloodstream (and parasites in the body, but that's another subject), so eliminating at least some sugar, or form of, must help.

Mine gets progressively worse throughout the day. I am going to try the baking soda remedy to see if that helps. I have long wondered whether enough bicarbonate is getting through to my intestines....

Burning Mouth Syndrome Triggers

Hi,

I have burning mouth syndrome from time to time (I do right now) and I find that stress is a contributor but not a cause, but when I am not eating well (too much carbs or sugar) and am stressed as well, I have to cut coffee or my mouth will start to burn. Coffee seems to be the thing that is the ultimate trigger and I like my coffee STRONG!

I, like many of you, have digestive issues, allergies including one to nickel, food intolerances and even a sorbitol intolerance. Food intolerances often cause acidity as a reaction so I am not surprised that food intolerances or allergies may cause or contribute to BMS. Also, stress causes acidity as does sugars and refined carbs. I think the main culprit here is acidity in the mouth, whatever the cause.

Good luck to all!

Try Endep it is a prescription medication. I had BMS really bad 7 years ago, due to wrong medication supplied. The ENT specialist prescribed it, and with in a short time the pain went away. I still get it sometimes, but nothing like I had before.

Hope this helps.

Hi Judy, I have had this burning mouth and throat for about 4 weeks after a few months of stress worrying about my health. I went to my GP today and she had never heard of BMS. I have been using natural remedies baking soda/honey etc. She gave me endep to take so will see how it goes. Also decided to take Alpha Lipoic Acid 600 mg daily. Will let you know what happens.

Hi Kokear, Sorry I haven't been on the site for a while.

I asked my doctor about Alpha Lipoic Acid, he said he didn't know anything about it. BMS has come back due to the stress of losing my husband a few months ago.

I am taking 10mg of Endep twice a day, but I still get some burning in my mouth. I feel I should try the APA and see what happens.

My BMS came on as I was diagnosed with periodontal disease. I initially thought the pain was related to that but was given BMS diagnosis by periodontist. Had antibiotics, antiseptic mouthwash, various toothpastes and more antibiotics and mouthwashes. Hard to pinpoint cause but feel that it may have been a combination of the gum disease and the shock of learning how advanced it was. Since both the gum disease and pain came out of the blue think there is a relationship there. Anyone else got any ideas as to cause?

Hi Maureen, My BMS started in 2000, right after a dentist visit for cleaning and regular check up nothing extra ordinary. I told my dentist but He denied of any thing happening with the cleaning teeth or medication he gave me to take for pain after the cleaning, has to do any thing with BMS. And I was disappointed but has suffered with insomnia, anxiety and depression at the time but then I researched and found the same things to do that you mentioned. I stopped taking any sugar even fruits for few months, took a lot of green veges and changed my toothpaste to a herbal toothpaste and drank bicarbonate soda in water for few weeks. I also quit wheat, white rice and spices for six months and took natural anti biotics, alternating every week, like grapefruit seed extract, oregano oil, lugal's iodine, garlic, borax and Hydrogen peroxide ect. And all the symptoms were gone and I started to enjoy regular food, spices and meats. I was free of symptoms for 5 years and BMS came back again, last year. This episode was worse and aggressive than the last one. I tried to do the same regime, to get rid of it but it is still there. It is 80% gone but keep coming back with the little things like bananas and even berries. I am not in a lot of pain now like I was before but still in stress. I am trying to relax the tongue now and hoping to have a miracle.

I am so happy to find your post that is quite similar to mine when I posted it first from Miami, Florida ( I was visiting my daughter at that time, she is in Chicago now)

I am hopeful again with the green smoothies and Ayurvedic herbs Triphala for gut problems, milk thistle and vitamins that I need for Graves' disease.

I hope we all get cure soon. Amen!

I have had BMS for 3.5 years, and I've talked with my dentist, my GP, and I have seen an allergist. No one has a clue what to tell me. I notice that it is worse some days that others, and just this week, I linked eating banana to increased pain. After eating a banana, my mouth felt like it had slivers of glass in it, prickly and painful. I stopped eating a banana at breakfast and it is better, but of course, not gone. I think that the solution is different for everyone. I am exploring eliminating as much acid from my diet as possible. Amazingly, banana has a pH of 5.6, which puts it in the acidic range. I am examining the water I drink and just bought some with pH of 7.7 and one at 9.4. A friend told me her dentist told her that her bottled water was too acidic and was causing her to have cavities for the first time in her life. I am also taking a Prilosec every day for a while to see if I need to calm my digestive system. I do tend to have acid reflux, so at least I'm getting relief from that. Citrus fruits like lemon and lime cause problems for me, too. I read that watermelon is a good fruit, more alkaline. I'll try that. Just sharing what I'm learning, but I really don't have relief yet, so maybe none of this will work.

Hi Pat,

Start to chew dry Sage leaves all day long in nonstop regime - avoid stems - of course interrupt when food intake - do it few days or as needed - hope you'll feel a great improvement and, finally, get rid of any complaints.

Wish you the best.

Multiple Remedies

Hi Denise...My thoughts on your problems are that when you went on your crash diet, your body suffered perhaps through a weakened immune system due to this diet, which left the door open to your burning mouth yeast infection as well as helping to cause acid reflux. Your body appears to be too acid for the following reasons:

The drug Clotrimazole is used as an anti-yeast and anti-fungal that your doctor advised for your burning mouth problems. Clotrimrazole is also used in a topical creams against yeast/fungus. Here are the possible side-effects from Clotrimazole when taken orally as Mycelex Troches:

"Itching; nausea; unpleasant mouth sensations; vomiting."

"Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue)."
Taken from Drugs.com

Your use of Clotrimazole might also be aggravating your your mouth yeast condition. Best talk with your doctor about this.

You also seem to be taking very high doses of Calcium with Vit D (1800 mgs). Since most western foods -- from milk to corn flakes to most processed grains -- now contain so much fortified calcium, I would avoid taking calcium supplements altogether unless you have a particular reason for supplementing large doses of calcium as excess calcium tends to cause considerable problems in the body -- causing acidosis as well as other problems like muscular aches, cramps and muscular pains, tremors and heart arrythmia.

In order to help cure your acid condition, the following protocol would be very beneficial:

*Continue to alkalize your body two or three times a day using Ted's Lemon and Baking Soda remedy.

*If you do take calcium, its very to important balance this intake with at least a 1:2 or 1:1 ratio of Magnesium to Calcium. Supplementing Magnesium will help to regulate the calcium in your body and clear the excess, normalizing the calcium levels.

*The best way to find out what minerals you actually need or what excess heavy metals are in your body is to get a simple hair analysis done. Heavy metals can be removed from your body by drinking green tea as well as eating cilantro in your salad 3 times a week.

*Stop taking calcium supplements completely for a month and see if this helps(take magnesium supplements instead).

*Supplement twice a day with 300 mgs Magnesium Chloride or Mag Citrate or Mag Gluconate. This will help balance your hormones and help remove and balance calcium excess.

*You are taking 2 X B-100 complex every day, which is a high daily dose and excessive. If there is no particular reason for this high dosage, try cutting down to one B-100 or B-50 tablet every 2 or 3 days. Excessive levels of Vitamin B-100 complex can cause problems that irritate - such as insomnia, high blood, fatigue, palpitations, etc.

*Take boron tablets, 3 - 6 mgs a day. You can also use 20 mule team borax which is the same but cheaper and just as good(I use it). Just add 1/8 teaspoon of borax to a litre of bottled water and drink this in cups throughout the day. Boron/borax is the ultimate yeast/fungal killer, helps balance the hormones and gets rid of fluoride from your body as well. See this link for dosage - Borax Cures.

*Use the Oral Detox that Ted recommends for your mouth and tongue problems -- which is the 1% Hydrogen peroxide with Borax(anti-yeast, anti-fungal). See Ted's Oral Detox Remedies here.

*Supplement lugol's iodine 2 drops once a day in a glass of water. This is also an anti-fungal and very beneficial for your body. You can also dissolve 1000 mgs Vitamin C in water and add 2 drops of lugols. This will convert the iodine to iodide and there will be no horrible iodine taste.

*Rather than using multivitamins, try using dessicated liver tablets -- these contain every vitamin, mineral and amino acid that you will ever need -- and in its most bio-available form. You can buy these tablets at any weight training shop. See this link.

I had intestinal candida for about 8 years and finally cured this fungal problem using many of these simple remedies above - which will also work well against your mouth yeast problems. But I'm just a little worried, because if you have other symptoms such as psoriasis, eczma, continual bloated feeling, insomnia, continual constipation or loose stools, irregular bowel movement, low appetite, sugar cravings, low energy, athletes foot, recurring UTI -- then these are all symptoms of intestinal candida as far as I'm concerned -- I had most of these symptoms for many years when I had intestinal candida.

Hello Patricia;

Re; burning mouth syndrome

If you google "burning mouth syndrome virus caused" you will get five or six articles on HSV-I being the cause. And I believe that colloidal silver can kill viruses. I'd at least take this to your MD and see what harm it would do to swish out mouth three times daily with CS...and gargle with it. If me, I'd do a complete irrigation...that is sinus and ears as well as holding in mouth for thirty seconds and spitting out. I'd try that for a few days to see if I got any relief. Just an educated guess based on the articles under the google search.

Baking Soda, Dietary Changes

Hello my Dear friends, all who suffer from BMS, I had been suffering with BMS on and off, for more than a year now. ALA was not helping much to but some other things are so I do have few days of BMS free and the burning is Subsidised, but some weird sensation is still there in the mouth even salt bothers. I am taking green smoothies, slippery elm, absorbable calcium, and some trace minerals like celenium, magnesium l- acetal carnatine and lugal's iodine with L-tyrosine ( amino acid). I don't have my gall bladder so I am also taking Triphala ( an Ayurvedic herbal supplement that has three different herbs in it) It has all the vitamin Bs and C in it. I read somewhere that we need to take bitter green like neem which is bitter too, for good digestion I thought gut is very important to repair and may be it will help me cure all my ailments. It did help a lot and also improved my insomnia. I have taken Triphala for 3 months now. My digestion has improved a lot and my skin is clear of blemishes. I love this herbal supplement. I was also taking alkaline water for few months. Some thing is sure helping. Just wanted update my condition andlet you know, after one years that I am doing much better. I thank God for it every day. I pray for every one else to have some relief from BMS. Amen!

EC: We really appreciate your faithful updates!
