Lately I've been noticing that I do not have that sharp of a memory well pretty much I have a horrible memory and I am only 21. I haven't done to much research on things that are good for memory but the other day I was told that Lemon Balm is good for your memory. So I randomly bought some at whole food yesterday and was just woundering if anyone else has tried this for brain fog and maybe knows a good dosage to take. The bottle says 30 drops equals one ml. So if you have any information that would be great. I feel like having a bad memory has stopped me from pursuing alot in my life and I think it is a big part of my nervousness and social anxiety.

Brain Fog Trigger: Canola Oil

I found out the cause of my brain fog. No, it wasn't my hypothyroid, nor my anemia. And ACV seems to have been totally innocent. IT WAS CANOLA OIL.

I have been very sensitive to not-so-good quality of oil from my childhood. As we couldn't find the regular vegetable oil I use at the supermarket around beginning of April, I bought Canola oil. As the container was leaking, I transferred it to the vegetable oil container I had at home which was empty and forgot all about canola oil. Shortly after I had started using it, I had trouble with my memory and concentration, but I had forgotten all about my sensitivity to oils and about canola oil as it was coming out from the vegetable oil container. Just 5 days ago I remembered my sensitivity and researched about canola oil on the internet and found others who have had similar problems. It was also mentioned that it effects the central nervous system and could cause blindness in the long run. I stopped using it right away and started feeling better the next day itself.

I am glad I am sensitive to not-so-good oils as I feel the effects immediately. My family members who are not sensitive, would have seen worse effects after a few years if we continued to use it.

While I was reading about oils, I also found that the vegetable oil (the container of which has pictures of vegetables on the front) is actually a soy bean oil. I never read the ingredients as the name says vegetable oil and it has has pictures of vegetables. I found that soy bean oil is not at all good for thyroid and generally.

I have been using olive oil for normal cooking and vegetable oil for deep frying (sometimes) since. But since the vegetable oil isn't good and olive oil is not suitable for deep frying - it leaves the question...which is the best oil to use?

I would appreciate input from others as to which oil to use - which will not be hard on thyroid and which will also not cause brain fog or any other health issues.

Hydrogen Peroxide Inhalation

To Pam from Pittsburgh, You used peroxide from the store? That is poison! When you read about 3% peroxide, that means food grade 35% diluted to 3%. The 3% solution sold in stores contains many ingredients you do NOT want to ingest. Hence the skull and crossbones on the label. I know you posted this quite a while ago, I hope you are ok and did not harm yourself.

Hey Cathy, Just read your post from Feb 2009 and thought I would mention something: I have been working on curing my thyroid as well, and went through much of the same things as you have. Please consider adding Lugol's solution to your current regimen. I bought mine from amazon. Does wonderful things for fibrocystic breasts too.

I tried ACV for UTI's with great success and have already written in about that. I am also loosing weight, and my arthritis symptoms have completely disappeared.

I also installed a reverse osmosis water filter to remove fluoride from my drinking water. I don't know if it is the ACV, or the fluoride free water that is making a difference, but I feel great. I have more energy and no more "brain fog"! My pain is gone! Maybe it is the combination, but it works!

After reading about inhaling into one nostril and exhaling via the other a few times I was very sceptical but my fear of the cause for my brain fog was bigger than my sceptism. It worked. I did it about four or five times before I felt better and then several more times just because it was working. I had tears behind my eyes and after two weeks of wondering if I was in the early stages of dementia, 20 minutes later I realized that it was my medication. That post was written in for me in 2014. Thank you so much and thank you also, Earthclinic. You have been my go site for a very long time.

Lately I have been having a hell of a time with digestive issues. Not sure what is going on -- it may be that I am eating way too much hormone injected chicken and turkey now that I moved in with my partner, who has to eat meat at least once a day or he gets sick. On the other hand, I ate a Trader Joe's garlic naan last week at home with a homemade curry and woke up to extreme abdominal pain and brain fog. Second time that happened with the naan, will have to check the ingredients next time I go. So perhaps I am allergic to wheat now. I don't know. At any rate, after a week of snail's pace recovery with Apple Cider Vinegar and Baking Soda, molasses, etc., I decided to a) eat vegetarian and b) do Bill Munro's h202 inhalation therapy. I started the peroxide therapy yesterday at about noon. By 8pm the brain fog that I have had for a week disappeared. This morning, exactly 24 hours later, my digestive tract finally feels back to normal. No more abdominal pain. I did 6 pumps of 3% h202 (drugstore brand) every 2- 3 hours. I think eating only rice and vegetables the last few days was helpful too. Yahoo!

Toourlady, thanks for these suggestions... I am trying the Magnesium Threonate as per your suggestion... so far I haven't noticed a memory increase... but it does give a strong noticeably mental relaxing effect. I have ordered the Huperzin and will report back... also am trying Vinpocetine... many report taking it with the Huperzin.

I've had brain fog for well over a year, so bad that I had a ct scan done. It gets better at times but always comes back, doctors told me it could be my allergies and cfs, I have trouble with memory concentration and always feel mentally drained. I've tried vitamin b complex with little success. Any ideas?

time for a new beginning. I got c-diff that ruined my intestines from an antibiotic. REALLY SUCKED THE LIFE OUT OF ME. I was never as successful as you, so my fall didn't hit me as hard as yours. I'm sorry for your great losses. Coconut oil heals the body -mouth to rectum- and also probiotics. Read the water cure site by Dr. Batmanghelidj to get autoimmune systems back under control. As long as you have breath, there is the possiblility for a full recovery. Nothing is impossible. Fecal transplants can heal the intestines. Try to forgive your fellow humans and it will heal your heart. I have had to forgive much, so I do not say this judgementally, but to help you recover your life. Release your captives and you will find that you are set free.

Help! I have been on most of those vitamins and have had no success. I not only suffer from brain fog but get vertigo spells that are even worse. I do certain head and eye exercises I learned at Physical therapy that help some. I am at this very moment experiencing so much dizzyness and fog and it has been going on for six days now. Saw Doctor and still no relief. I live alone, can not drive and I am running out of food.

Brain fog can also result from an unbalanced 'gut', hypothyroidism and allergies to certain foods like wheat and gluten. I have been suffering from very bad headaches and brain fog for close to a year now and suspect the long time use of allergic foods and an unbalanced gut. 7 days ago I started taking Probiotics, eliminated wheat/Gluten, added Aloe Vera juice 3x a day as a tonic and am blending lots of greens (spinach, kale, chard, cilantro, cucumber, green appleas and pear) into a smoothie 3 times a day to alkalize my body. Too early to tell yet, but noticed more energy, major improvement of my nails.

I will now add AVC daily. Appreciate everyone's input.

Hi Guys, I have gone through most of the feedbacks that you shared and seems some of you might can help me. I am not sure If I am suffering from Brain Fog or not but symtops are quite same. It started almost 45 days back when I suddenly had a severe fatigue attack. Dont know the reason, may be due to a bit stress or heat. After that I felt quite low for at least 3-4 days. After recovering I started going back to my work, suddenly in afternoon I have this brain foggy feeling. Unclear mind, Stiffness, missing major feelings and slight on creativity side and throughout its continous..... In short feeling some cloudiness in brain. But I am able to do rest of my works fine, talk fine, walk fine, work fine, but this wierd feeling of brain fog is killing me.

I consulted specialized neurologist, he said its a tension type headache and advised antidepressant clonozepam so as it can relax muscles. Also he said may be its some chemical imbalance due to defficiency in serotonin, but no firm tests are their to prove it. I took medicine for 3 weeks, but it hardly helped, instead when I left, I faced severe headache for 2 days. Right now, I am not taking any medication and foggy feeling is still constant, even I believe its not a stress headache as I do not have any stress other than to get rid of this thing. All my reports, MRI, EEG, Blood tests are normal. Only I am left with thyroid and Vitamin deficiency tests.

Please advise if ACV will be usefull in my case. In addition I am trying to but breathing exercizes in routine, but not much benifit yet. Dont know what to do next.

Hi Jas, I would venture to say, by what you are describing, that you are suffering from a severe case of candida. Candida can manifest in many ways and it is the root cause of many illnesses of which doctors don't really address or give credibility to what candida is capable of doing to the body. Many people have systemic candida and one of the big tell tale signs is severe brain fog. Medications exacerbate the problem.

There is so much information on Earth Clinic regarding this subject especially from Bill of San Fernando, Luzon, Philippines. It would be redundant for me to go back over it since he has covered this extensively and combated it in himself. I have not had it, only helped others to overcome this, eventually quite debilitating issue. Not long ago, he even addressed what I just said in my first paragraph. Anyway, check out his information here. Another leading authority regarding candida is Donna Gates and you can find her by googling Body Ecology in which her site has lots of info as well. Diet is the first place to start and detoxing.

Wishing you the best, Lisa

Many Americans have b-vitamin deficiencies, particularly Thiamin or B-1.

Many diseases can lead to brain fog. Candida, Staph, poor digestion problems. The first thing to test though, is a B-complex vitamin. Sometimes miraculous results can be produced in a day or two (if brainfog hasn't been a chronic condition).

Here is a discussion of sub-cortical dimensia:

This can be caused by b-1,b-12, folic acid deficiencies. Other b-vitamin deficiencies can also lead to brain fog. As a b-vitamin is water soluble, safe, and cheap($5)... if you have brain fog, it may be worth while picking up a bottle and testing this out. It might change your life, or at least buy you some time to figure out the underlying cause.

Hydrogen Peroxide Inhalation

Hi Jonna, don't give up on the wheat yet! If you are eating bleached flour bread, try going to l00% whole wheat bread. If the problem decreases, then work on eliminating all bleached flour products, and this takes some thought because a lot of noodles, pastas, thickening in soups, dressings, sauces, saltine crackers contain bleached flour. Also, before you give up on eating chicken and turkey, read the ingredients on the package (even on the raw chicken that you have to take home and cook). If it lists chicken broth, natural flavors or natural flavoring package contains monosodiumglutamate.

Your symptoms sound like wheat allergy. It's very important to get tested for celiac as it can do alot of damage. The biopsy is not necessary just a blood test.

I know it's been years since this post, but I'm in the same situation. I got sick with what I think was the flu, and not long after developed brain fog. It's been over a month and the flu has gone, but the brain fog has not subsided. Can this be from candida overgrowth, and does this have anything to do with the flu? I've just started drinking ACV with water yesterday after recommendations from a few sources on the internet, and I really hope this can finally alleviate this terrible condition, as I am a college student and I'm finding it extremely difficult to learn. Thank you.

Patrick brain fog could also be caused by Aspartame and MSG consumption. They are called "Excitotoxins" and can kill brain cells off (especially if you are magnesium deficient). If you are a student do you drink diet drinks or caffeine drinks? They are loaded with these. Google "Excitotoxins" to learn the dangers. Dr. Russell Blaylock has an excellent video on google video.

Me too. I think I have brain fog and this been 1 year and 3 months now. I think the cause of mine is my allergic rhinitis (sinus inflammation). I just have a question how you guys got certain that what you feel is brain fog? Just concerned coz maybe mine is not brain fog but I feel so dumb all the time like I have no brain, forgetfulness, not clear consciousness like I'm in a dream, focusing problems, learning problems, fatigue, depression and etc.

Other than gas, before that I had no headache or nausea and am positive it was the combo that did it. I don't have trouble with Apple Cider Vinegar alone. Yekara

I know there are cures and it will take a while for some to get the idea but I ask you the cost of this and the many people that are hurt medically from this . I would like to ask for help for this for love of everyone in and from this town that was affected by this.
