700 Club began their broadcast the other night with another installment of Coconut Oil for Alzheimer's. The medical editor says that researchers believe the medium chain fatty acids of C.O. are utilized by the brain as an energy source (something to do with ketones) where the standard source of energy (glucose) is somehow depleted or non-functional (causing the mental decline). The use of the lemons may also suggest that Alzheimer's is a metabolic disorder, as lemon stimulates digestion.
If this is true, supplementing a good multivitamin/mineral plus extra Chromium and Cinnamon should improve Alzheimer's, along with dietary changes like ACV or Lemons. I would also venture to assume supplementing DMG or/and Quercetin should make big improvements in all manner of age-related declining health conditions. Many researchers believe that Cancer is essentially a metabolic disorder of decreased cellular energy.
How does one convert 5 tsp (liquid) to milligrams? Too difficult for my ALZ brain. Thanks for any input.
Also, does anyone ever see comments by patients rather than relatives or caregivers. Is anyone you know with ALZ researching as much as I am? My problem is compiling (the nature of the disease, I guess). But doing the research has been good for my mind and attitude ... and maybe someday will help someone else. According to this converter,
5 teaspoons of coconut oil equals 23 grams and 23 grams equals 23,000 milligrams.
My husband and I take 2 TSP of coconut oil everyday. There is also growing evidence of its efficacy in treating Alzhemier's. Dr. Newport couldn't get her husband recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease into a clinical trial using the MCTs from coconut oil, she put him on 2 TSP/day about 2-3 years ago. She saw improvement almost immediately, and he continues to improve. If it can't be completely cured, I believe it's quite possible to at least manage it better using coconut oil.
My mom died from Alzheimer's Disease about 11 years ago, and if I'm one of those with a predisposition (APOE4 ), I plan to continue taking it.
I have just heard of the possible benifits of CO for Alzhiemers and only in reading more discovered thatn it seems to have a generally benifical effect on health in many aspects. As I do not frequent health stores I have yet to buy the oil. However as over the years I often use coconut water (milk) for cooking pseudo indian or Indonesian food I do consume this. I note that it contains 18% fats and wonder if this is a good source.
Aloha, coconut water comes out of the coconut and it is clear. Coconut milk is made from the white meat of the coconut. Whole coconut milk does contain coconut oil, however it is processed if you are cooking with it and it came from a can. It is far more beneficial to your body to eat organic virgin coconut oil

I recently came across something that seems to revive the brains of those suffering from this horrible affliction [Alzheimer's Disease]. Some of you may be familiar with Doctor Mercola, anyway he sent out an video link in his last email update about VCO & Alzeimers. I highly recommend that anyone dealing with this affliction on any level take the time to view it. I was SO impressed that I upped my personal intake of VCO as a preventive. Apparently the medium chain fatty acids are the perfect brain food. When combined with ALL the other good that VCO provides, its a no brainer (no pun intended).
Drinking coffee has been tipped as a possible way of delaying and even preventing Alzheimer's disease in previous research. However these studies have only ever involved a small number of people and were reliant on participants remembering how much tea and coffee they drank earlier in their lives.
This latest study showed that cognitive decline was significantly less among people who drank three cups of coffee every day. These findings add weight to the body of existing evidence suggesting long-term caffeine intake may have a protective effect against the onset of Alzheimer's disease.
It is too soon to say our morning coffee or afternoon cup of tea is anything more than a pleasant pick-me-up. It is important to now research further how caffeine consumption impacts on dementia risk.

Curcumin supplementation for Alzheimer's and Dementia. Heartily recommend (I give to my 86 yo mother). Start in your sixties if not before. Turmeric is anti-inflammatory, aids digestion and is a potent antioxidant. If you can't afford curcumin, just buy turmeric powder in bulk and take a teaspoon of the powder in a non-dairy beverage every day.
I found your site a few days ago after hearing about DMSO having the ability to do miraculous things. After reading all the information on here, I purchased the 99% pure liquid & 99% pure gel. In particular, I'm interested in using it orally for Alzheimer's & topically for chronic pain caused by a failed back & neck fusion. My father has Alzheimer's & my mom & myself have the chronic pain, but we are wanting to take it orally also. The dilution seems to be a subject that I'm not clear on, with so many using it differently & buying it in different strengths, to use both orally & topically. We used distilled water with the liquid for dilution to paint it on my mom's back & arms, but just winged it as to the strength. She felt unbearable burning on the places she DIDN'T hurt. We had to use a cold washcloth to wipe off the DMSO & then applied aloe vera gel. Strange though, the burning places didn't even turn red. We attempted to take it orally mixing 1 tsp in a glass of water. The taste was horrible! I poured some flavored Aloe Vera in with it, but could never get it palatable. We will have to get it to a palatable taste for my dad to drink it & us also!
My questions are:
1. To be most effective, what is the ratio of 99% pure DMSO/distilled water to apply topically & how should it be applied (cotton, spray, roller, etc...?)
2. What do I use to dilute the 99% pure DMSO gel & to what ratio?
3. What is the best way to mix the 99% pure DMSO liquid to take orally to make it palatable, especially for Alzheimer's patients?

Regarding diluting dmso for topical application, usually 50% dilution is good but everyone is different so just experiment.
To take dmso by mouth you can either put it in large cellulose capsules 1mL at a time and swallow them before they melt (in a minute), or you can just dilute it in enough water. 1mL in a liter of water is hard to taste. But you might want to use more, so in that case capsules and topical.
To avoid smelling bad, take extra magnesium and drink ( raw goat preferably) milk. Lots more info from the yummy.doctor website or in the book DMSO:Nature's Healer.
Put it into capsules, have water available to drink and take it quickly because the capsule will start to disintegrate within a few seconds
My father has early Alzheimer's. People with this disease often have problems with sun downing and getting to sleep. We have a little bottle of lavender oil he rolls on his wrists in the evening and before he goes to bed. I was pretty surprised, it really seems to help! Also, he can be a real cranky pants in the morning. For the heck of it, I had him use his lavender oil then, too. It helped tremendously! I've heard other aromas help, too, but have only just started with this. If anyone has any tips, please let me know! Anything to avoid his being over-medicated is a blessing!
Maybe a lavender sachet in his clothes drawer, or a lavender candle or room diffuser. I wonder if vanilla would work. I get depression, and eating bananas helps tremendously. It feels like morning all day. I have to stay away from gluten, if I have to eat it such as at a party, I have milk/kefir or psyllium before leaving for the party. A Chamomile/Lavender/Lemon balm tea is good, too. Things that help my liver and kidneys help my mood tremendously, too. You might try those things with your poor Dad. My heart goes out to you both. Try Kefir, goat milk, fresh fruit (lots of it oranges, strawberries, kiwi, cherries, blackberries, peaches), fresh green salads (spinach, romaine, red pepper, tomatoes, boiled egg, sardines, a little salt, no pepper, olive oil, amen. ), Cat's Claw, ginger, fresh garlic (no milk with or before it, only an hour or so later), basil/chamomile/catnip tea (no milk till hour later). Failing that chocolate and coffee work. And if all else fails, ice cream... Make a smoothie with frozen orange segments, frozen strawberries, and fresh baby spinach. These heal the body and thereby heal the mind.

Various essential oils have improved cognitive function in human beings in clinical trials. Jimbo and colleagues used a diffuser to deliver rosemary and lemon essential oils in the morning and lavender and orange essential oils in the evening to 28 patients with dementia (including those with Alzheimer's disease). After 28 days, all 28 patients "showed significant improvement in personal orientation related to cognitive function. " Akhondzadeh and colleagues using tinctures of lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) and sage (Salvia officinalis) saw significant improvements in cognitive function over placebo in 84 patients with Alzheimer's disease over a four month period. Essential oils high in methoxyphenols (such as clove, cinnamon leaf, rosemary, sage, lemon balm, oregano, thyme, and laurel) appear to provide a particular effective treatment for Alzheimer's disease. These compounds scavenge peroxynitrites (convert them into a less dangerous form) and partially reverse the damage that they do to receptors involved in short-term memory, sleep, mood, smell, alertness, and awareness.
My sisters and I began to give our mother rosemary essential oil to smell four years ago (she has had Alzheimer's disease for seven years). This year we added many of the essential oil listed above. As a result of aromatherapy (she takes no medications), she can recognize her own home again, sleeps through the night, feels comfortable around relatives, has some short-term memory (can spell her own name, can sometimes remember the order of days and month, can complete sayings such as I scream, you scream, we all scream for... Ice cream, etc. ), and is much more alert and aware than before she began aromatherapy. Except for allergies or excessive use (my mother smells the oils for just a few seconds under each nostril every morning), there appears to be few side effects from aromatherapy. I have heard that lavender alters your hormones if taken on a regular basis. I would research this before diving in.
😆 That is absolutely false, this info has been floating around for years and people keep repeating the same info.I would be concerned about pharna meds making me look deformed than lavender altering my hormones.
I was doing just that. I am 64 and overweight and happy to lounge around watching tv and resisted any form of exercise. About two months or so ago I started doing Dr Johanna Budwig's protocol and as the days went by I started to get more and more energy. Now I just can't lie around anymore as I feel I want to move and exercise. I can't tell you how good this is.
I was resigned to feeling more and more ill as the years go by, and now my mental outlook has changed too. Whether this is because I have more energy I don't know but I suspect it is. I have got my PT bouncer from its home in a cupboard and bounce three times a day. This is the most amazing exercise and because my hips and knees ache I am being careful, but this ever increasing energy has me putting on my iPod and going mad on the rebounder while listening to a Trance track with a fast beat. I am feeling better every day. Rebounding is wonderful. The more you do the better you feel. Hips and knees are taking it well. I was getting a bit weak and wobbly on my legs which made me feel unsteady. That is nearly gone and I have only been using the rebounder for a matter of days. I forgot to say I started the flax seed oil, flax seeds and quark regime for a painful lumpy breast and that went fairly soon into the regime.
Two months ago my 85 year old father was using a cane and having quite a bit of trouble getting around.
Since then, he has been going to the YMCA 3-4 times a week for an exercise class for Seniors. It is an hour long. Some attend in wheelchairs.
I just got back from a visit with him. I am amazed at how well he is doing. He no longer needs a cane. He can walk much further. He even had some decorative brick work around some flowerbeds that he put in himself! He would walk around his yard picking up stray leaves in the yard!
Anyway, it is exciting to see him improving in his mobility. Perhaps I won't underestimate the value of exercise again!

Dear " Mama to many ". I very much agree with you about the importance of exercise for all people, especially the elderly. I am talking about moderate exercise. I am now an older person at 65. It is all too easy to fall into a pattern of just laying or sitting about doing very little exercise watching TV, reading books and such. Everyone needs to exercise. Bike riding, hiking, swimming and such. I also recommend avoiding jogging because it damages the joint tissues especially in older people. Also drinking plenty of quality water can only help. Sitting on your butt all day is NOT the way to remain healthy....Oscar
One morning I had a message from Google saying the new article in my e-mail might interest me. It showed an elderly lady with a nice cat in her arms in front of her house.
Since I am known as the cat lady in some places I thought it was about rescue. Oh no! I kept on reading about this lady and over three hundred readers replies.
This happened near Vancouver, BC and made the headlines that day. This lady was in her early eighties and had been diagnosed with advanced Als. I forget the terminology. She was an intellectual, so were her husband and acquaintances. She made it public that she would commit suicide not being able to face her destiny by dragging a mattress onto a scenic spot by her residence and take pills. She succeeded .
The gist of this is as I see it: She is not the only one and reading of the conditions in old age homes and that the body forgets even the most basic functions, is too much to handle. Thus her decision. Caregivers gave much account of the heinous effects of that condition .
Our medical community is making money out of this, but no cure. No public education either. No care, period.
When in the best years of life, stress and total ignorance as to the body's basic needs plus spiritual balance, when intellect is thought to be all that makes the man, disaster is in the offing. Some succumb early, others late.
Many of us know through EC the many steps that must be undertaken to prevent such disasters. We are making use of it and get educated. But is seems we are a civilization that sees no other option than suicide in view of the horrors awaiting even before old age. Most of the readers would have followed that old lady's decision and a tiny handful made mention of our creator. There is a serious gap existing and I personally put much of the blame at the present disease mongering system for profit. Please wake up and do your utmost to prevent such tragedies. Study EC and take your life into your own hands - nobody else can do it.
I had read Dr Wright's article on Lithium Orotate several years ago. My husband has been treated for Alzheimer's for several years. I decided to try the treatment. He had an immediate decline, so we discontinued treatment immediately.
We do use several supplements: Hup A (Huperzine), Digestive enzimes, Lions Mane Mushroom tablets, DMAE and lecithin. We had run out of the Lions Mane last spring - his decline increased at that time, and although he's taking it again, he never recovered what he lost. Although decline continues, he gets along pretty well.
I find that changes - travel - even to visit family members for holidays, etc, are the greatest challenge to his functioning.
(His younger brother died just a couple of years after Alzheimer's Disease diagnosis. He didn't have early medications to delay disease progress. ) Their mother and maternal grandmother both had the condition, and the youngest brother, @76, is also taking Alzheimer's Disease medications now.
Hi, I am 68 and have been taking ginkgo for over a decade. I believe it has kept my brain sharp. I started with one capsule once a day in the initial years but have increased over the years to four capsules per day. I also drink at least a liter of water each day.

My Natural Doctor uses a Glutathione IV in his treatment for folks with dementia. He is cheap by comparison, but it is over $100 a pop. I first did this and then I went to compounding and inhaling with a nebulizer. I called a few months ago and my compounding guy said Big Pharma had the rules changed so you can now only get two weeks supply at a time. They are part of the carbol that is about to fall.... along with the demons in the DUMBS.
Since I's SJS, I researched and found an L-Glutathione Plus reduced product that I could mix with saline, nebulize, and keep my brain sharp enough to stay two steps ahead of D. You can find this product on the net and it is dirt cheap. It has the same sulfur smell as my compound stuff, so I feel good about it. I can only work about a couple of hours a day at the farm, but like Wildroot Cream Oil, a little dab will do you. I think I may be able to get our garden in again this year. Hooray, we will not have to go to the PIMA camps and get the vaccine. Maybe I get to live to see the end.
