Started using Apple cider vinegar supplement capsules as I hate the taste of Apple Cider Vinegar. Have been taking 3 in the morning and 3 at night. Hot flashes are practically gone.

This site is absolutely the best! I'm in menopause and for the most part have had hot flashes under control through use of Chinese herbs and something called Phyto-B. But over the past few days they started to come back with a vengence. I checked here and discovered the ACV cure and tried it (two doses yesterday and one this morning). The flashes that were starting to keep me up all night completely disappeared and I slept really well last night. Will see if it continues, but so far so good!

Also, I do have serious issues with dental enamel, so am adding 1/4 tsp baking soda and then immediately rinsing my mouth with an extra swish of baking soda in water.

Thanks to everyone here who contributes to making this such a great site!

I have been using ACV for all kinds of remedies. I am 50 and had my last child at 45 yrs of age which caused a serge of hormones to go crazy! I had acne bumps on my face, my hair was falling out, I was constantly hungry. I found out about ACV at that time and it worked great! I don't like the taste, so I only use it for curbing my hunger when I really need to lose a few lbs. I have used it on my face to clear it up. Not pleasant at all! If you can stand some red on your face for awhile, it will clear it up. I also use it all the time for any kind of itch. I am starting the drinking again, I just pour a little in a tall glass. I don't use the baking soda, cannot understand why anyone would do that??? The vinegar is actually less acid than our stomach lining. I was told this by a holistic practitioner in our town. I am getting HF all day long and am hoping ACV will help.

WORKED TEMPORARILY

I got great relief from hot flashes with morning and before-bed dosing of 1 Tbs ACV, sweetened with about 1 tsp pure maple syrup which is easier to mix into about 2-3 ounces of water (don't take it straight! Burns the esophagus over time) followed immediately with a gulp of straight purified water, which I swallow to protect esophagus, and then next gulp is swished around my teeth to prevent enamel decay before swallowing. Only problem was drinking all this before bed made me wake to pee throughout the night.

Problems occurred when I stopped taking it for about two weeks (after many months of faithful dosing). Getting it to work again has been the problem!!!

I tried for over a month and nothing! Anybody got any ideas?

There should be no burning effect. The correct way told by Ted, is 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (the natural one from health food store), with 1/4 tsp baking soda in a glass of water. Let it sit for five minutes or a little longer, than drink it down. This is the alkalizing formula. This stopped my crazy making hot flashes in two days no more hot flashes. Hired a natural plant based bioidentical hormone specialist as well.

Hi would just like to start by telling you I do appreciate reading this site - it is of great help especially with the ACV - I started four days ago and take 2 tbspn in glass of water when I get up and 2 tblspn before I go to bed. It has helped me 90 - 95% - I was waking up so hot and bothered, but now I don't. The only thing now is my body has been used to waking up I expect it will take a little while to get used to sleeping through the night, but will keep you posted in about a month's time.

ACV has worked wonders for me. It took a few days before symptoms started subsiding, and now, 3 weeks later, I have very few, mild hot flashes. Before, I was having several flashes each hour. I have been taking two tablespoons in the morning and evening in water. I have gone from being completed soaked in sweat at night, unable to sleep to sleeping through the night. If you are as desperate as I was, this is so worth a try! The more organic type really is more effective.

Hi, I am having hot flashes every 40 mintues... read this site yesterday and ran out to get ACV but could only get the tablets... which has moved the flashes by 10 mintues.... But it is very uncomfortable expecially as I am very busy in work with back to back meetings... I am going to run out now to the local supermarket and pickup a bottle of ACV, but what dose should I start with??? I am tempted to drink the whole bottle!!!

I have endured hot flashes on a consistent basis for 10 years with no relief. I talked to my doctor to no avail. The sleepness nights, tiredness from lack of sleep and depression were starting to affect my psyche. I felt helpless. But just last week while searching for natural remedies for hot flashes, I found this website listing the ACV remedy and it is a miracle! I take morning and evening and my hot flashes have declined 90% and the ones I have are short and not severe. I am so thankful and although I wish I would have found it 10 years ago....this is a wonderful way to start the new year, with a new me!!

For your symptoms I recommend you take sage. I just read on this topic yesterday. Here is what I found.

"In 1997, the National Institute of Medical Herbalists in the United Kingdom sent out a questionnaire to its member practitioners on the clinical use and experience of sage. Of 49 respondents, 47 used sage in their practice and 45 used it particularly in prescriptions for menopause. Almost all references were to sage's application for hot flashes, night sweats, and its estrogenic effect. The age range of the menopause patients was 40 to 64, with an average of 49.76. Three-quarters were aged 47 to 52. (...) Sage was prescribed as tea (aqueous infusion) by 37 practitioners, alcoholic tincture by 30, fresh tincture by 14, alcoholic fluidextract by 2, fresh juice by 2, and fresh leaf by 1 (Beatty and Denham, 1998).

It is well documented that Sage leaf helps to reduce menopausal sweats. (...) Sage has a strong anti-hydrotic action, and was a traditional treatment for night sweats in tuberculosis sufferers. Its oestrogenic effects may be used to treat some cases of dysmenorrhoea and menstrual irregularity or amenorrhoea and can reduce breast-milk production."

Well I expect miracles however I must be honest...I forgot that I need an empty stomach. I did the 3 times with one tablespoon...I slept until 1 and after that it was downhill. I saw one comment on another website that to had 1/2 tsp baking soda.

My question is this: after several try-outs with it working, is this necessary to continue?

Just had hysterectomy, only so far when I go outside it feels like it's 300 hundred degrees. Will ACV help this?

For hot flashes, the ACV works best for me if I take 2 t. in a half glass of water. It's strong but I don't mind the taste. I then drink water after that. It is so nice not to wake up 'over hot' all the time!

If the apple cider vinegar doesn't work for hot flashes try Lydia Pinkham herbal tablets they really work! And have worked for generations! And for me they stopped nervousness! But it takes about two weeks for the tablets to be effective. Don't stop taking them. Most pharmacies carry them or can order them for you or you can order them from the internet.

I recently turned 45 and started having hot flashes every hour about two months ago. They were making me miserable during the day and keeping me up at night. I tried taking Estroven and it made me sooooo sick! I figured I'd look into black cohosh, etc. , but I was hoping to go with something a little simpler and with less side effects, at least for now. I considered trying ACV for other things, but I can't tolerate the taste. I ordered ACV 450 mg capsules (well-known brand, few additives). I have been taking two capsules twice a day (with food) and after about four days, I am now having 3-4 mild flashes throughout the day! I'll continue taking them and hope to also reap some of the other beniefits that ACV is known for.

I was having 10-20 hot flashes daily. Read about ACV helping. I cannot stand the taste or smell so I went to health food store and purchased the pills. It has been 3 weeks since I take 1 pill per day and I am down to maybe one flash per day that is very mild. Thank you so much for your website and advise. It has changed my life for the better.....

I have found all of your insights to be wonderful. I started taking 2 Tbs of ACV with 1 Tbs of honey today and have not seen a difference yet. I had been taking HRT till my insurance company decided that I did not need it anymore and would not fill my presc. I am desperate and have tried all other things. I am grateful for this site and wish all luck on this horrible journey of menopause.

Try sage tea. I grow it and just pluck a few leaves every day and put them in hot water usually with green tea. It takes a few weeks but you will feel it kick in and the HFs will reduce. You could also try MACA - about a heaped teaspoon a day of good quality product. There is info for both of these supporting use for HFs. In general, Vitamin D daily makes a difference and all the oils - EPO, fish oil etc. You need phytoestrogens from food or if they are still bad, get some hormonal treatment. The HFs could also be due to a thyoid condition so get that checked. Taking plenty of magnesium will help your sleep. All these things have worked for me. The HFs do pass. I have tried the ACV off and on but I have not seen any impact on the flushes. Good luck with it.

Actsup2: it seems as if your Liver/Gallbladder function is amiss. Try taking some Milk Thistle or "Milk Thistle Complex" or "Liver Complex". NOW Foods has a very comprehensive Liver Formula that has got lots of good reviews. The Amino Acid Methionine (which might be found in the Liver Formula) is recommended for women's hormonal issues as it supports Liver detox and Lipid Metabolism. An even more effective form of Methionine is SAM-e (but cost is much higher). Drinking Lemon Water is also effective in promoting "Bile Flow" or improved digestion (which seems to be your problem).

I had terrible night sweats for about 3 months and was very irritable during the day due to little sleep. I tried this remedy first with regular apple cider vinegar without results. It took about 5 days on the Mother kind and WOW I sleep like a baby. I also take estroven nighttime and I believe this combo is a winner. Try both you have nothing to lose.

When I found this site yesterday I was amazed at all the testamonials, so I tried the ACV and my hot flashes are almost completely gone! Thank you all for taking the time to share this information!! Like some of you, I am concerned about the amount of acid I'm ingesting. I think I'll try some baking soda in a couple of days. I take 2 Tbsp in a glass of flavored water which isn't too bad, but I also worry about that much aspartame, so I may go back to honey or stevia.

HELP! I've read so much about ACV and Baking Soda helping so many women for hot flashes but have not seen anyone post about this problem I'm having.

Tried the ACV and BS remedy yesterday evening. Two hours later I had severe itching on my torso area, under my breasts and under my arm pits. Didn't think at the time that maybe the ACV and BS might have something to do with it.

Before bedtime, I took another dose (2TBLSP ACV w/ 1/4 TSP BS in a glass of water). Woke up two hours later from the heat in my body AND severe itching on my hands and feet! It was driving me crazy! It's been an hour now since the itching woke me up and it's subsided a little. Has anyone had this experience?

I used to take ACV (organic, with the "mother") with honey all the time, twice a day, before my pre-menopausal symptoms and never had a problem w/ it.

Hoping to get some responses out there!

I am taking 2 tbls in the morning and then again after my evening meal. I find it hard to take on an empty stomach because it is so acidic. All I can say is that I have experienced a 75% decrease in the number and 90% decrease in the intensity of my hot flashes in the past 3 days that I have taken the AVC. I do take it w/ 1/4 teasp. of baking soda just to cut the acid a bit more. I am pretty darn happy!

Unbelievable! I have tried all sorts of remedies, prescription and natural, acupuncture, etc. , with not much relief. The bioidentical estrogen patch worked for the hot flashes but made me so irritable I was unfit to live with!

I tried the ACV last night and this morning and I have had only a few very mild hot flashes since the first dosage -- perhaps 5 total all day when I was having that many in a single hour! I have been carrying a small towel with me for the past year!

What is it in the ACV that works? It is made less effective by alkaline water (to neutralize the acid a bit -- hard on the stomach! )? Is that what the baking soda does which I was reading about?

Very curious and very grateful! I hope it lasts!

I tried the AVC and so far I have not had any HF's! My hormones seem to be balanced. I should get a saliva test for my hormones to check them. I read saliva testing is more accurate than blood testing. I am reading a book called, "hormone balance made simple" by Dr. John Lee and I highly recommend it. He has other books as well. The next one I buy will be "What the Doctor's don't tell you about perimenopause". U might check into his books if U R going through perimenopause, menopause, etc. I am also going to buy me some black strap molasses. But back to the ACV. It seems to be helping me. A thumbs up for the ACV! Wishing you all the very best!
