I recently became the mother of a 2wk old puppy Koda. I notice this am that he had bright red bloody stool which completely freaked me out!!! His stool has been normal up to this point. We did change his formula last hoping it could just be that. He still has a healthy appetite and is happy and alert. I have given him a lil water his gums are pink. I don't know what to do any advice would be appreciated I don't wanna lose this lil guy

Hey Linz!

You have a two week old puppy? 14 days old, is that correct - or is that a typo?

Bright red blood in the stool indicates bleeding at the end of the digestive tract. In a 14 day old puppy being jump started on solid food it might indicate an irritated bowel. If this is the case then he may also have parasites of some type. Worms are common in young puppies - has this puppy been wormed? Ideally you would see your vet ASAP for a proper diagnosis and treatment with the appropriate wormer.

**A note of caution: having such a young pup that is force weaned from the dam puts the pup at high risk for enteritis type viruses such as parvo. Please read up on parvo on EC's parvo page:

It would be a good idea to have activated charcoal on hand *just in case* - JMHO!
