09/17/2009: Laurie from Belleville, Ontario, Canada: "Hello
Well I've decided to try the MBP. I bought a bunch of beets, asparagus, apples, carrots & celery today. I did the first "treatment", but had forgotten about the cinnamon (too much of a hurry to start lol )
1/4 cup beet juice, plus 1/4 cup asparagus juice; followed by 1 apple and one carrot. The drink is Very good, no bother at all, I ate the apple & carrot and only ended up experiencing a vague feeling of nausea.
1've just had my second treatment (cinnamon plus the juice) and will have a 3rd later. So far so good.
I'll let you know later how the first week goes
I noticed in Roberts Audio he mention protocol can remove all traces of a smoking habit, including the desire to smoke in only ONE WeeK. I did email him, although in all fairness it was only a couple days ago, and I'm sure he's a very busy man.
So Robert if by chance you are reading this. Can you please give us an exact protocol for removing smoking traces in Only ONE Week.... especially for beginners of the MBP like me ??
Thank you
All the best wishes for everyone here."
09/17/2009: Marie from Philadelphia, Pa replies: "Hi Laurie,
I've been looking everyday on Earth Clinic to see if any one was doing the MBP. I started Saturday, and I'm only doing it once a day. I missed two days but did it again this morning. I'm hoping this will help with my very serious systemic candida problem. I've had this problem for years and have tried soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many different things. I really can't eat sugar or I get a reaction and I feel the yeast in my vaginal area and I feel it before I have to urinate. TMI?????? Sorry. I'm desperate and I'm hoping this will work. I think I'm going to increase taking the mbp. Please keep us posted with your results and I will do the same.
Wishing us both success!!!
Marie"
09/18/2009: Gean from Salina, Ks replies: "I can't say I have been doing the Mini Beet Protocol, but I guess I would call it the Modified Mini Beet Protocol. Here's what I've been doing for a couple of months, off and on: I started with 1/4 beet, sliced and blended well with a little water. Drink this down with an extra large straw (I saved mine from a gas station drink). Then eat a few raw asparagus spears. Then eat one carrot, and then one apple. I figured the extra fiber would not hurt, plus getting the juicer all dirty for 1/4 beet seemed like a huge ordeal. I also felt better about less waste of a vegetable; also I thought the fiber might help push out toxins. I felt a little nauseated when I did this every day, so I went to every other day for a week. Then every day. Then I increased to 1/2 beet, and skipped the asparagus. Liver spots on my face are quickly fading, as well as red bumps around the lymph node areas, which after a while seem to turn into skin tags. I believe that if you have a clean, healthy liver, everything else follows. I found this method to be less time consuming, since the blender is much easier to rinse clean! It's a sustainable habit, in other words. If it's too hard, you'll stop doing it."
09/18/2009: Laurie from Belleville, Ontario, Canada replies: "Hello Marie from Philadelphia: Firstly... I too am wishing you success at ridding yourself of the candida and of good health in general. I will continue to rate MBP here for as long as I can afford to do it (Asparagus here is very expensive)
I DO hope you're feeling much better Very soon
Laurie
Gean from Salina, Ks:
If you don't mind my asking how long have you been doing the MBP including your modified version ?? How long was it before you saw "Liver spots on my face are quickly fading, as well as red bumps around the lymph node areas" ? This is very intriguing !
Please keep us all posted on your results
Laurie"
09/19/2009: Gean from Salina, Ks replies: "I have been doing the "MMBP" (modified mini beet protocol) for a couple of months, though not continuously. I've taken days off, or a week or two off here and there. I've also included cooked canned beets in my diet now and then. I don't know exactly when I first realized the liver spots were fading, but all of a sudden I noticed they were like 50% faded. Now it seems like every day they are a little lighter, same with the lymph spots, where before they seemed to be getting darker and darker."

08/30/2009: Leanne from Brisbane, Qld Australia: "Day one of the MBP - I can't stand cinnamon so have omitted that step - I started with oil pulling, then mixed half a cup of beetroot (as it's called here in Australia) juice and half a cup of celery juice. It smelled just a tad earthy and like Dianna from Texas I've had some really special moments with straight beetroot juice in the past, so I added a splash of apple cider vinegar. I drank it slowly over 5 minutes with no ill effects. It tasted a bit salty, but was definitely palatable. I didn't feel at all unwell, and actually forgot to eat the apple and carrot, but ate an apple about half an hour later when I felt hungry. (Ruddy rabbit food!) I've felt good all day, no side effects, however I have been on ACV and bicarb soda as well as oilpulling for around a week, which may have already detoxed me to a degree.
I think that sipping slowly is the key to beetroot juice - chugging it down pretty much guarantees an instant, violent and spectacular multi-coloured display in the bathroom! I'm using the MBP primarily as a liver detox to aid a weight loss programme, which incorporates ACV and bicarb soda, VCO and oilpulling. I also take about 10 grams of calcium ascorbate daily.
Will let you know how the MBP progresses"

07/12/2009: Silvy from Amsterdam, Holland: "Hi,First I want to say that I love this site!! I have a question regarding the mini beet protocol. I'm wondering if I should first cook the beet and the asparagus before juicing?"
EC: Both should be juiced raw, not cooked!

06/11/2009: Dianna from Austin, Tx: "hi - i just wanted to say that i used to often enjoy beet juice with carrot juice. then one day i decided to try just straight beet juice. about 10 minute after i ate it i suddenly felt extremely ill and had to rush to the restroom to throw up. it was actually very funny because it was a white marble bathroom and you can imagine what it looked like after i was finished. i never drank straight beet juice again! yes it is very detoxifying stuff! maybe i will try it like this. thanks"

[QUESTION] 06/07/2009: Catherine from Seattle, Washington USA: "Questions about the mini beet protocol...can anyone help? I cannot find much information on the internet about it.
1. What is the major beet protocol? The author mentions it but does not say what it is. I imagine it is several cups of beet juice and asparagus per day?
2. Should the juice be drunk on an empty stomach? First thing in the morning? 3 hours after food okay?
3. What is the purpose of the cinnamon?"
06/07/2009: PR from Houston, Texas replies: "Hi just click on the link below and read the whole article. This article will answer all your questions. http://robertvon.com/mbp.html"
06/07/2009: Catherine from Seattle, Washington replies: "Response to PR, Maybe I am missing something, but I read the protocol page 3 times very carefully and did not see my answers questioned!! I know there are 2 video links too, but they cause my browser to freeze so I am unable to watch them. I looked on YouTube and didn't see anything there.I am hoping someone who knows a lot about juicing can answer my questions."
06/11/2009: Robert von from Dallas, Texas replies: "USING THE MBP
Sorry you're having trouble understanding it Catherine... I've made quite a few updates for people but it has not been posted yet, I'll try to see if I understand Earthclinic well enough to alter items in here to make it more easily understood... we'll see...for now, and until I get to updating things in here, here's the simple skinny:
You juice one cup of beet juice then 3/4 cup of asparagus juice (or 1 cup), then mix them together, then drink them IMMEDIATELY, b4 the enzymes die... then eat 3 apples then 2 carrots in that order... I have people usually do the cinnamon before even starting to juice everything (see MBP)...and just like apples, this cinnamon is a potent remover of the side effects of beets, but some can't take cinnamon at all, so feel free to skip that step if you're annoyed too much by the cinnamon.
This drink is to be thought of as a supplement... therefore you can drink it morning, noon or night, in the middle of the meal, on empty stomach, right after a meal, on a full stomach or whenever, etc... as for the eating of apples/carrots right after, can take up to 2 hours to get those done but you must get them into your stomach and in that order, first finish off the apples and then do the carrots... (over time you will need less and less apples to remove the detox side effects of beets.
This drink is so detoxing that if you were to do it without the apples and carrots you would end up hospitalized within days, with the worst side effects known to man, it is after all the single most detoxing substance in existence on this planet... as should be rightly seen from the fact that wrinkles disappear from your face within days to weeks to months depending on your age, right in front of your eyes... it's effectiveness on the human body also depends on if you're a nutrition freak like me who never eats anything bad for him or if you're a pastry and donut type eater that is non-stop with the twinkies (I'm totally not judging you, just giving humorous examples and spreading the love).... what I'm saying is that blood chemistry plays an obvious part in how fast this will work.... blood chemistry being how much filth is in your blood via bleached sugar, and bleached starch, and bleached flour and bleached salt, that might hinder this or any other protocol.... obvious stuff of course but mentioning it anyway.
If you do this drink and experience even the slightest sore throat then please increase the # of apples you're eating and stop doing the MBP til you're perfect again, just eat apples and veggies til throat is back to normal.... never ever push the MBP... take your SWEET TIME. Make sure you're feeling better on this almost every day of doing it for it to work, else take some time off to recharge b4 going back on it again.
Those who are weak with anemia absolutely cannot do this protocol even though it will reverse anemia... why? If you do this in such a weakened state, you will not be able to withstand the cleansing even if eat enough apples, your energy will tank... therefore, first reverse the anemia with beef liver in a few days, and at worst 1 month depending on the type and severity of the anemia and then you'll be good to go to do the MBP...why would you use MBP to reverse anemia over months and months when beef liver done 3x/day will usually reverse it in 3 days... depending on anemia and severity thereof (a Nobel prize was one between two MDs that discovered this fact!!).
Other diseases like Lyme's, Lupus, etc. they might make it so that you can only do the absolute tiniest amount of this protocol to start, then do it for like 3 days as an example, then do it for 3 more then off for 3 and back and forth, - the reason for this is that there are zero nutrients in such people, just to exaggerate a bit... the diseases ate all your nutrients or made you so that no nutrients could get in your body thru the years wearing you down via eating away any stomach acid you have so that nothing you ate over time could be broken down - getting worse every year with less and less stomach acid... Does all that make sense, so to do the mini beet protocol I highly prefer people eat massively BUILDING foods while doing it so that it is easy to do... such foods are called Vegetables... tocotrienol powder wouldn't hurt at all either and I highly prefer everyone doing my MBP to take herbal calcium or otherwise to keep calcium high... (To restate: veggies, tocotrienols and herbal calcium... these are greatttttt to do while doing the MBP and even when NOT doing it.)
I could go ON and ON about all the nooks and crannies of how to apply the MBP haha, but the bottom line is that the weaker your condition the more you need super veggies with which to do something this cleansing...b4 I go I will give two examples...
A Naturopath/Chiropractor in California was infected (I have no idea how) with a number of diseases at once, I never asked how.... Hep C and few others as well as Lyme's, and although he had helped to alleviate and reverse 100s if not 1,000s of his patients of their diseases, even the removal of every disease he had EXCEPT Lyme's - yet this one last annoyance of Lyme's having been with him for 10 years was just destroying him and he wasn't sure how much longer he had to live since it was slowly sucking him down... a good friend of mine and the most charitable woman I know, gave my MBP to him without my knowledge... now remember he has nothing left but Lyme's and suffered with it deteriorating more and more each day for just over 10 years... his left foot is 2x the size of his right foot and has been this way for more than 1 year.... he has little stomach acid to boot... just hanging on there and barely able to work anymore
In 10 days after giving him this protocol, I receive a phone call with my friend, and the g/f of the naturopath calling to tell me the MBP has reduced his foot to the same size as his other foot in 10 days, but it was sooo detoxing and he was soooooo weakened already, that he had to stop it... I told her, "that is totally required! Stop it please, and rest, eat veggies and eat apples and regain strength..." he began again (this time with his g/f also doing this protocol) for another few days and continued on the MBP off and on for 2 1/2 months...each time getting off to recharge himself and rest up and gain some strength at which time I get this little note from my friend.... both the naturopath and the g/f (girlfriend)... have checked their blood... not even the tiniest trace of mycoplasms, candida, germs, viruses or bacteria... cleaner than anything he'd ever seen in blood before...(he's NEVER gotten rid of his g/f's candida b4!) with only a few traces of spyrochete's left in his blood, almost nothing, so the lyme's was almost completely washed away...
So the moral of this story is that it very potent and I guarantee you that if he continues the use of the MBP that it will completely permeate his bones and tissues COMPLETELYYY, to the extent that even the most imbedded spyrochete's of Lyme's disease, no matter how far impedded in bone, no matter how tough or resolute it is, no matter how far imbedded in tissues nor how old or powerful they may be, they will be forced out or vaporized, whichever comes first.
Next, one of my friends in El Paso, has quite a few maids, and asked me down to go over many items on nutrition and supplements and the MBP... I even showed all the maids/cooks/etc how to do it, so that her and her family could have it done for them easily ..... however, almost but not quite 3 months later... I returned to find not one of them had done the MBP even once LOL... how humorous is that... but here's the good part: one of the maids who goes back to Mexico, simple boarder crossing by a few miles, every Mon, Tues and Wed, was using this MBP on her son! He was one big pimple!!! just endless pimples all over his face... when I had returned... I found out that this sweetheart of a maid had been giving the MBP to her son ONLY on those 3 days of the week, NO CHANGE IN DIET AT ALLLLLL! Just added the MBP to his diet (of whatever he regularly ate) on those 3 days per week... he was 99% acne free when I returned < 3 months later... I think you're seeing my point.
But just to reiterate, even doing a little of the MBP say ONLY 3 days per week, I highly prefer doing just this little of it, only 3 days/week - and just keep up with eating a few apples on the days off, adding them to your diet of whatever you usually eat on those days off when not doing the MBP. This MBP does NOTTT have to be done every day to be affective...
I hope these small examples clear up some things for you... most especially how easy it is to do this simple juicing ... 2 cups of juice when combined, then eat apples then eat carrots... simple I hope.
I wish you all, all of you, the best, let me know how your nutrition experiments go, and I'll do the same.
Robert von
(note: cannot juice the apples or carrots in order to remove detox side effects, I've tried, it 100% does NOT work, only eating of apples will remove detox side effects...more details are on the MBP.)"
EC: Thank you so much for this information, Robert. Great!!

[QUESTION] 06/07/2009: Luis from Cali, Colombia: "Beet Juice Lowers High Blood Pressure -- I would like to read opinions of knowing people about this topic, because there are opposing versions. Thank you.
1. High-nitrate vegetables good for cardiovascular health (2008).
2. High-nitrate vegetables bad for forming carcinogenic N-nitrosamines (if combined with a fish meal) (1998).
3. High-nitrate vegetables bad for systemic nitrate exposure (2008).
4. High-nitrate vegetables good for lowering risk of certain forms of cancer and cardiovascular disease (2006).
1. Diets rich in fruits and vegetables reduce blood pressure (BP) and the risk of adverse cardiovascular events. However, the mechanisms of this effect have not been elucidated. Certain vegetables possess a high nitrate content, and we hypothesized that this might represent a source of vasoprotective nitric oxide via bioactivation. In healthy volunteers, approximately 3 hours after ingestion of a dietary nitrate load (beetroot juice 500 mL), BP was substantially reduced (Delta (max) -10.4/8 mm Hg); an effect that correlated with peak increases in plasma nitrite concentration. The dietary nitrate load also prevented endothelial dysfunction induced by an acute ischemic insult in the human forearm and significantly attenuated ex vivo platelet aggregation in response to collagen and ADP. Interruption of the enterosalivary conversion of nitrate to nitrite (facilitated by bacterial anaerobes situated on the surface of the tongue) prevented the rise in plasma nitrite, blocked the decrease in BP, and abolished the inhibitory effects on platelet aggregation, confirming that these vasoprotective effects were attributable to the activity of nitrite converted from the ingested nitrate. These findings suggest that dietary nitrate underlies the beneficial effects of a vegetable-rich diet and highlights the potential of a "natural" low cost approach for the treatment of cardiovascular disease.

2. The aim of the present study was to investigate nitrosamine formation after nitrate exposure at the ADI level. This paper describes the excretion of volatile nitrosamines in the urine of human volunteers after a nitrate load in water in combination with a fish meal, since fish contains high amounts of amines, which are nitrosatable precursors (24,25). This study can contribute to the discussion of the validity of the current ADI of nitrate and nitrite for preventing human health risks.
Exposure to high nitrate levels implies a genotoxic risk for humans due to endogenous formation of carcinogenic N-nitroso compounds. Nitrite derived from nitrate may react in vivo with amines and amides to form N-nitroso compounds. About 300 N-nitroso compounds (NOCs) have been tested for carcinogenicity in experimental animals
Vegetables contain vitamin C and other antioxidants that might prevent nitrosamine formation (45-47). In the present study, nitrosamine formation did increase during nitrate intake in combination with a fish meal, even though the volunteers consumed vegetables. These vegetables (cauliflower, peas, carrots, green beans) were low in nitrate, and their mean vitamin C content was approximately 17 mg of vitamin C per 100 g vegetables (48). Thus, the amount of vitamin C and other antioxidants in these vegetables appeared insufficient to prevent nitrosamine formation.
In conclusion, nitrate intake at the ADI level in combination with a fish meal containing nitrosatable precursors increased NDMA excretion in urine and therefore implies the risk of increased formation of carcinogenic N-nitrosamines. The results of this study suggest that the risk of formation of carcinogenic N-nitrosamines should be taken into account in the currently used ADI value for nitrate and in the drinking water guideline for nitrate.

3. High dietary nitrate intake may pose a risk to human health. Since up to 80-85% of dietary nitrate intake comes from vegetables, the aim of this study was to determine the absolute bioavailability of nitrate from three nitrate-rich vegetables. In an open, four-way cross-over, single dose study, 12 human subjects underwent the following treatments: (1) intravenous infusion of 500mg sodium nitrate, (2) oral administration of 300g cooked spinach, (3) oral administration of 300g raw lettuce, and (4) oral administration of 300g cooked beetroot. The wash-out period between treatments was at least 6 days. Plasma samples were analysed to assess the nitrate and nitrite concentrations, and pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated. The bioavailability of nitrate was 98+/-12% from cooked spinach, 114+/-14% from raw lettuce and 106+/-15% from cooked beetroot. There was no significant increase in plasma nitrite concentrations. This study shows that nitrate from vegetables, whether cooked or uncooked, is absorbed very effectively, resulting in an absolute nitrate bioavailability of around 100%. Thus, reducing the amount of nitrate in vegetables can be an effective measure to lower the systemic nitrate exposure of the general population. However, other aspects, such as the costs to produce vegetables with a low nitrate content and the possible beneficial effects of nitrate in vegetables, need to be considered when evaluating the usefulness of such a measure.

4. A diet rich in fruits and vegetables is associated with a lower risk of certain forms of cancer and cardiovascular disease, but the mechanisms behind this protection are not completely understood. Recent epidemiological studies suggest a cardioprotective action afforded specifically by green leafy vegetables. We here propose that these beneficial effects are related to the high content of inorganic nitrate, which in concert with symbiotic bacteria in the oral cavity is converted into nitrite, nitric oxide, and secondary reaction products with vasodilating and tissue-protective properties.

06/06/2009: Catherine from Seattle, Washington USA: "The mini beet protocal sounds very interesting. I got on the web and started researching beets! My first results: 2 cups of beet juice a day lowers blood pressure.
http://www.webmd.com/hypertension-high-blood-pressure/news/20080208/beet-juice-lowers-blood-pressure
Feb. 8, 2008 -- Drinking two cups of beet juice a day may reduce blood pressure, a study shows.
The British researchers who conducted the study say the findings add even more weight to the importance of eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables.
That's because beets (known as beetroot in Britain) are loaded with the nutrient nitrate. Spinach, lettuce, and other green, leafy vegetables also have high levels of nitrate.
Previous studies have shown that eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables lowers blood pressure. Antioxidants often get the credit, but several recent studies have suggested that nitrates may play a much bigger role. How nitrates work to lower blood pressure has been more of mystery.
How Nitrates May Lower Blood Pressure
In the study, 14 healthy volunteers drank 500 milliliters (2 cups) of Planet Organic beet juice or water within 30 minutes. The researchers checked the participants' blood pressure every 15 minutes one hour before they drank the juice and every 15 minutes three hours after drinking the beet juice. They also checked every hour to six hours and then at 24 hours after they drank the beet juice.
Compared with the water drinkers, blood pressure dropped one hour after the volunteers drank the beet juice. It reached its lowest point 2.5 to 3 hours after ingestion and continued to have an effect for up to 24 hours.
Here's how it works: Nitrate in the beet juice is converted by bacteria living on the tongue into the chemical nitrite. Once it enters the stomach, it becomes nitric oxide or re-enters the blood stream as nitrite. The researchers found that blood pressure was at its lowest when the nitrite levels in the blood were at their highest.
The nitrites, the researchers write, work by protecting against endothelial dysfunction, which means that blood vessels have trouble expanding or contracting to handle changes in blood flow. They also have anti-platelet properties.
"Our research suggests that drinking beetroot juice, or consuming other nitrate-rich vegetables, might be a simple way to maintain a healthy cardiovascular system, and might also be an additional approach that one could take in the modern-day battle against rising blood pressure," says Amrita Ahluwalia, PhD, one of the study's researchers. Ahluwalia is a professor at the William Harvey Research Institute at Barts and The London School of Medicine.
The study is published in the Feb. 4 online edition of the journal Hypertension."
Replies08/16/2009: Betty from Vero Beach, Fl replies: "Not having a juicer, I drink an organic beet juice powder mixed with 2 teaspoons of water occasionally. As I become more accustom to the taste I will drink a cup daily, hopefully, as a blood pressure control. I am 78 years old and my diet is mostly fruits and vegetables and nuts."

06/04/2009: Deirdre from Earth Clinic: "Thank you PR from Houston, Texas, for the mention of the mini beet protocol. I was so intrigued when you sent us the link a few weeks ago, I decided to start the protocol and create a new page on Earth Clinic! I am hoping many of our readers with juicers will try this too since the mini-beet protocol is reported to cure many ailments. In my case I hope to cure a tough case of nail fungus and severely cracked heels. Had the cracked heels for years, but the fungus has appeared more recently. My topical applications of the remedies on EC for nail fungus have not done much. It's time for internal action!
I followed the MBP instructions exactly today and did my 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a small amount of water, followed by a bigger cup of water. I waited 15 minutes while I juiced 1 beet and 5 stalks of asparagus, which yielded 1/3 cup of each (Robert recommendation for the first week). After I quickly drank the juice (didn't taste bad whatsoever, very surprising), I quickly ate an apple and then a carrot. Am happy to report there was no nausea, exactly as Robert reports on his website. I need to make a trip to Whole Foods to buy all organic ingredients soon as asparagus contains one of the highest amounts of pesticides! Our local grocery stores carry organic apples, but not beets or asparagus.
If anyone knows where to buy organic cinnamon in bulk, please send along the recommendation. Thanks!"
Replies06/04/2009: T from Maryland, USA replies: "Mountain Rose Herbs sells bulk organic cinnamon. Love that site/company even though the shipping cost is painful! Hopefully your heels soon won't be ;) Looking forward to your update on the MBP!"
EC: Thanks for the suggestion T! I will check them out for the cinnamon.
Apparently asparagus isn't as high in pesticides as other vegetables... here's a link to a website called Shopper's Guide to Pesticide that someone recommended recently on Earth Clinic Planet: http://www.foodnews.org/fulllist.php
Deirdre
06/05/2009: PR from Houston, Texas replies: "Hi Deirdre, You are welcome and I am glad you are trying the Beet Protocol. Your are right it doesn't taste bad and will bring great results. As Robert would say removing the toxins from our body will help our bodies to stay youthful, and the beet protocol does a great job of this. It is great you created a new page for the Mini Beet Protocol and it will be interesting to see the post from others using the protocol when it catches on.
I like listening to Robert's teachings online as he share some real helpful jewels that I haven't learned anywhere else. Robert has a great way of looking at the over picture of how nutrients work in and with the body. Especially being careful to keep balance in your body when using herbs and nutrients. I am looking forward to your future postings as you progress with Mini Beet Protocol."
[SIDE EFFECTS] 06/18/2009: Deirdre from Earth Clinic replies: "Mini Beet Protocol follow up. I faithfully followed Robert's directions for the MBP for exactly a week, drinking 1/4 cup beet and 1/4 cup asparagus juice. One of those days I got a headache shortly after consuming the juice, but other than that, no side effects. Then, ha ha, I foolishly decided to do a significant increase in the amount of beet juice, even though it was advised against on Robert's website. I was very excited to get on with my detox, you see! On day 8, last Friday to be exact, I drank 3/4 beet and 3/4 cup asparagus. Oh oh oh... The next 20 minutes were terrible! And then the side effects in the ensuing 48 hour were rough! I had to hang near the sink right after drinking the beet juice because of severe, horrendous nausea. I gobbled down 2 apples and 1 carrot, which did help. Finally the nausea passed. I then had severe brain fog for the next 2 days. I couldn't think straight and had a difficult time finding words to communicate. I am not kidding!
Mind blowing side effects - you are not kidding, Robert!!! Uggh. There is NO WAY I could do the Major Beet Protocol of 3 cups of beet juice in one day!! Sad to say, I haven't been able to bring myself to drink more beet juice at the moment. I am instead happily drinking these yummy green smoothies (greens in the blender with various fruits).
So for anyone considerig the mini beet protocol... go very very slowly and up the beet juice in small increments. Otherwise, suffer the consequences like me, the foolish one."
06/21/2009: Theo from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada replies: "Hi Deirdre,
I was a little saddened to read your message about having stopped the Mini-Beet Protocol (MBP). Any chance you are going to try this again? One of the things I love most about EarthClinic is the empirical evidence. Unlike many other websites filled with noise, EarthClinic's members experiment with folk remedies/claims and report the results. This is why EarthClinic is so helpful.
With that said, MBP is making some pretty big curative claims here. I have read Robert's website and listened to all 4 hours of audio posted. To me, the following items stuck out as rather unbelievable:
- Crow's Feet
- Love Handles & Cellulite

[YEA] 11/15/2009: Sophie from Portland, Oregon: "We started MBP and feel remarkably well. Just a side note* we go to our local east indian store and buy the REAL cinnamon sticks from Ceylon, India and grind it because as most of you know the cinnamon at the local grocery in not genuine cinnamon and lacks the required medicinal qualities. We followed most of Robert's instructions, although we increased the dose every five days and I'm not suggesting that others do this. We felt it was safe for us to do, because we've been vegetarians( no meat or fish)for over twenty years, we have a healthy diet, no caffeine, no smoking. Red wine only during the holidays and we eat 75-80% percent raw foods, and we do yoga. In addition to that we have regular colonics and been on a low calorie diet for a long time to slow down aging and decrease illness... we rarely get ill. The reason we adhere to this practice is because when I was in college I was interested in ayurvedic & chinese medicine. So we integrated some of these practices into our life early on.
We started MBP because I suffered an accident at the doctors office that required plastic surgery! Following, that episode I had a strange rash on my neck and some type of strange bumps on face. I thought perhaps it was an hormonal imbalance, the western medical model doctor suggested birth control pills. I declined. After some research, we decided to try MBP six days a week. After one month I've observed the following: my husband's wrinkle's and crow's feet have decreased dramastically; his hair appears darker to me. his eyes look brighter and whiter. For me my acne and rash are gone; my liver spots are fading; my skin is brighter; my eyes are white and bright; the scar tissues and the swelling from my facial surgery both have decreased rapidly because I can finally see the definition. My surgeon mentioned that following surgery for all the swelling to subside, it might take well over a year, but I'm now seeing a dramatic and rapid healing. It is clearly evident that my face is no longer swollen and is becoming clearly defined! I believe MBP expediated the healing process and decreased scar tissue and the swelling. I will report more information at the two month mark."
Replies12/25/2009: Sophie from Pdx, Oregon replies: "We are now at the two month mark on mini beet program. The first month was easy, we just bought two twenty pound bags of beets and asparagas and began juicing away. The second month took some serious "psyche yourself into it talks." It has been challenging for me in the since that at the two month mark, I now cannot tolerate the smell of the juice and I cannot tolerate the cinnamon. It is unclear if it is an instinctive response, due to this new, powerful and perhaps. overwhelming detoxifying process that the body is undergoing or if it is simply an aversion to the unpleasant smell. I should note that I am hypersensitive. Here are a few observations at the two month mark : a noted decrease in appetite. Robert Von has noted that that MBP is supposed to be a supplemental drink. We have found that many times we will do the MBP during the lunch hour and skip dinner and/or have a small snack around the dinner hour. If we do MBP during the dinner hour then we just skip dinner or skip breakfast the next day. Some days I will have only one meal with a snack. When I snack I try to eat half of an apple to help cleanse my bloodstream, and assist in the detoxifying process. While on MBP I have suffered from one headache and that was following a holiday party I attended where I ate sugar, white flour and dairy. For the headache, I drank a glass of water, apple cider vinegar with a little bit of baking soda mixed and my headache went away. Following are the noted changes: we are both slim, although we both havelost some weight which is fine. We are sleeping better, my acne problem has vanished (I also washing and rinsing my face with baking soda follwed by splashing apple cider vinegar on my face in a hot shower so that it will penetrate deep down into my pores and I just allow the ACV to air dry on my face) both of our faces are radiating good health. We have also increased are flax seed oil to 2-3 tablespoons a day since we reside where it is fairly cold. Our skin feel silky soft and clear. 95% of my liver spots have faded away and few subborn ones that remain . I am now applying castor oil and a green biotanical gel made from mushrooms which is amazing to eliminate the remaining spots. We both look 10 years younger. My hair stop falling out by the clumps. Our meditation and yoga practice are much better. My sense is that you can feel the changes happening on a deep level within the body, although it might be hard to describe celluar level changes that are happening even if your aware of it.We did feel some lower back pain maybe for 2-3 days, but nothing major. We were sure to take the supplements that Robert recommends to avoid getting kidney stones. I think it is wise to listen to Robert Vons radio interviews and reading his MBP information before beginning this process."
03/14/2010: Shakti from Toronto, Canada replies: "Hello, I contracted lyme almost 3 years ago. I was not given sufficient antbiotics and developed many further problems in the ensuing years despite additional antibiotics, including heart, eye, weight problems with great fatigue and pain. I have had several bouts with mycoplasma, candida, and ensuing arthritis for years . I healed these issues with a 45 day Master cleanse fast. I have cured the pain and complications of lyme with juice fasting ,also for 45 days . During his time I had a powerful beet detox experience. I made a VERY strong beet heavy juice, and after drinking it I broke out in a horrid red rash all over my chest , under breasts , and up to my neck . I used castor oil packs, bentonite clay and oatmeal, and it subsided after 10 days entirely. I also got better after the 45 days. I had been in unbearable pain and had CFS for 3 months and could not get home to juice and fast, as I collapsed in another city after a period of stress that brought out the lyme. After feasting on champagnes, fine wines and excellent foods at Xmas this year I gained weight, was agin arthritic, and got ill. I returned home, and have been juicing, using beets often, with greens and apples and carrots . All good, am better, have weight loss, etc . But see wrinkles and lax skin like never before. I am aging too fast now. Saturn is on its' 2nd return now, and I knew that would be an issue, but I am vain, and enjoy my beauty ... I have been a vegetarian, and conscious of foods and supplements since 15 when I started yoga ... and look about 18 years younger than my age. I wish to continue to do so.
My questions are ... did your husband's crow's feet disappear? and what kind of surgery did you undergo ? I am considering a necklift , and also a small lower face lift , and eyes to be done - soon . Is there much swelling ? How long does it take to look and feel normal ?
Did the extreme beet protocol cause an appreciable change in wrinkles and skin tightness and youthfulness , and collagen renewal Thank you,
love and light ,
Shakti"
08/29/2010: Sophe from Pdx, Or replies: "Hi Shakti, in answer to your question my husband did use virgin coconut oil as a skin softner and he did the MBP program faithfully! His skin tighten, crows feet disappeared and his hair is darker. I believe you mentioned Saturn return consider a karmic mitigating mantra, very powerful. Saturn is the teacher. I did not have surgery, due to choice. I was at the dermatologist office for a routine visit for acne let's just say... Supposedly a simple routine procedure, that took a turn the doctor is lucky he is still practicing! Anyhow after running to four to five experts and suffering... So on so fourth I required reconstruction surgery. So of course following surgery the swelling was bad and was told that for some it can take over a year maybe two for swelling to go down! MBP expediated my healing tremedously. For skin try Hyaluronic Acid Pills three pills per day 100 mg each of HA along with Vitamin C. This is supposed to assist in reversing the aging process you should see results in two to three months For aging my yoga teacher suggests " continue practicing yoga and non-attachment from the ego and the highest truest form of freedom is automatically cultivated" :)"
