Juicing Remedies
Juicing fruits and vegetables into delectable (hopefully) and richly nutritious drinks can be a very effective way to greatly increase your daily nutritional intake without adding all of the bulk and roughage to your diet (if you're already getting enough fiber). With a kitchen juicer, you can mechanically extract the healthiest components of fruits and vegetables, wheat grass, sprouts, and other healthy foods and drink it down in a burst of tasty nutrition!
Juicing is excellent also for increasing the raw foods component of your diet, which can help to bring more phytochemicals into your nutrient intake, since they may otherwise be destroyed by cooking.
The Veggie or the Juice? If it's an either or thing, eating the whole fruit or vegetable is probably healthier than only juicing. Still, juicing can help to take your healthy diet to a whole new level!

ACID REFLUX

[YEA] 04/20/2008: T from Dumont, NJ: "After a long battle, first with prescriptions, then with nearly every suggestion made here on Earth Clinic, I have finally defeated Acid Reflux by juicing. (I love Earth Clinic, & many of the suggestions here helped, but juicing seemed to resolve my problem.) I improved after juicing for the first time and now, after several months, I can eat anything (except I still avoid chocolate, coffee, & excessive sugar). At my worst, even a single mouthful of any food would set off symptoms. I couldn't lie flat for almost a year. I was up all night many times. I had symptoms of a hiatal hernia as well as reflux. Before I started trying natural remedies, I was on 80 mg/day of Nexium with little relief and discontinued when I started seeing blood in my stools.
A typical juice may have kale, carrots, ginger, cucumber, celery, zucchini (+ maybe 1/2 beet or apple). Be creative but don't overdo it with fruits or sugary veggies.
I also eat oatmeal (soluble fiber acts as prebiotic) w/ cayenne, virgin coconut oil. I eat papayas too. I found baking soda in water at bedtime controlled symptoms when I still had them. These things helped but juicing was the key to conquering. Make small quantities (1 glass or less) and sip. If you are prone to constipation, don't drink too much and take a fiber supplement. If you don't have a juicer, some healthfood stores make fresh juice blends by the glass (again, avoid the sugary blends). My juicer cost about $75 and has been well worth it. One more thing- in my experience, there is no substitute for the nutrition of real, whole food. I have had a pretty healthy diet for a couple of years but never was able to consume the quantity & variety of raw veggies I get w/ juicing."
Replies02/13/2010: R.d. from Houston, Texas replies: "Thanks for sharing, so many great ideas here. I was in the hospital last yr.with low potass. and other gastroenteritis symptoms. I changed my eating habits over the past year. I finally got test and results last week were GERD. I had very similar problems as T and some.... Dry cough, breathing problems and inconsistent pain in stomach and back.I tried magnesium citrate(nat. calm) along with potassium (vit. shop). Food has been my medicine and i could not be happier.
If i have tomato, caffiene, wheat, corn these things will throw my day off. I have found natural/organic is tastier and works better. Less meat more veges. fruits, rice, soaked beans and nuts(sprouted when possible)In general less packaged. Juicing or blender is a part of my prep but not everyday. most of what i do is in moderation and variety. Right now i have tried curry blend. Indian inspired food seems to help my digestion.
Whole Foods has been my favorite place to shop! LOCAL produce is ripe and edible :) I find some at walmart now. (figs, mixed greens,) Kroger has things but not as fresh. I find balancing electrolytes very important. I also have clear thinking, energy,no cravings.-- i was so addicted to sugars especially chocolate.
Questions i still have: does anyone know or have unwanted weight loss with Gerd? I have always been thin so it shows on me.sensitive system has increased over the past 10yrs. I do feel much better in general after eating good.
Thanks again everyone for your info."

11/02/2010: T from Dumont, Nj replies: "Following up on my previous post on Acid Reflux, I have continued to avoid acid reflux. I believe celery may have been the most important ingredient in my juice recipe, although all raw vegetables include enzymes that help with digestion -- I think they work better than enzyme pills. I also think celery/juice heals the stomach lining and esophagus. I now eat whole celery, esp. with heavy meals, and still avoid chocolate, coffee, and excessive tomato sauce. Occasionally I juice and drink with my meals. I am sure to add a few pinches of chia seed for fiber. Really helps keep things moving, which will also help you avoid acid reflux! The other night my husband had acid reflux and I suggested he eat some celery. The reflux went away immediately. I juiced celery for him the next day as insurance. I added 2 drops of stevia for taste."
[YEA] 05/25/2011: Kathie from Houston, United States replies: "Juicing for acid reflux makes a lot of sense. Bernard Jensen, Ph. D. Says that we need organic sodium (found in vegetables) to make hydrocloric acid and to protect our stomach lining. He says that we have acid reflux, not because we have too much Hydrochloric acid but too little, thus digestion becomes slow and we are burping food up many hours after eating. The vegetables he said that were highest in sodium content include: asparagus, beets, red cabbage, carrots, celery, dandelion, kale, parsley and spinach. He also recommends whey and veal joint broth.I also juice aloe vera (do not juice the outside, this will surely tear up your stomach). I just scrape out the insides, mix it with a little water and use my hand blender. Drink soon after preparing because much of it's healing properties wane after 15 minutes."
05/25/2011: Meenu from Vancouver, Bc replies: "I think this makes sense in my case now as i've added(apple, celery, carrots, beets) juice in my routine. Although my HBP readings for the past 2 years were 145/95 but lately I landed in ER with 212/110 n oddly ACV didn't work for me. I took it for good 3 months."
05/25/2011: Kathie from Houston, United States replies: "Meenu from Vancouver, that heart rate is pretty high. I have noticed that since I have started the ACV therapy with baking soda my heart rate has gone up a bit and I have a lot of nervous energy. Maybe it is part of our detox... Maybe we should cut back a little bit on the ACV so detox won't be so intense. I do not drink coffee and eat very little meat. Look into Linus Paulins (sp?) vitamin c therapy (you could be suffering from cronic scurvy, causing a build up of cholesteol in your artieries) He recommends high dose vitamin C that heals your arteries and Lysine to cover the sticky stuff in your arteries so they won't stick to the walls of your arteries- it is like tepholone for the bad stuff). Drink your 8 glasses of water (it helps lower your blood pressure). Take care of yourself, Kathie"

ACNE
Ratings:
|
[YEA] 02/12/2009: Theresa from Washington D.C., USA: "I have been an avid reader of Earth Clinic since finding a great sore throat cure here in desperation last winter.
I suffer from moderate adult acne and I wanted to share with you my results from drinking freshly made carrot juice, blended with fresh parsley, apple and ginger.
Anecdotal evidence (my own) suggests that the Vitamin A (Beta Carotene) in carrots is helping heal my skin. Parsley contains high amounts of chlorophyll and Vitamin C, and Apples also contain vitamin C. Ginger is a potent herb known for it's curative properties.
To get the full benefits of this regimen, use ORGANIC produce.
I recommend starting on the juice regimen as a daily practice.
NB: You will need a juicer, NOT a blender! I use the Breville brand of juicers, they are the absolute best and easy to clean.
The recipe I use:
12 organic carrots - do NOT juice the greens - they are toxic
2 organic apples (do NOT juice the apple seeds. They contain a trace amount of cyanide)
1 very large bunch of fresh organic parsley
1 hunk of fresh ginger (about 1 - 2 inches long)
Carefully clean and rinse produce. Chop off the top and tip of the carrots. Leave the peel ON.
Divide the apple into four quarters. Chop off the part where the seeds are.
Wash the parsley and place on a paper towel.
Scrub the ginger well with a vegetable brush. Cut off any dead looking areas.
Carefully inspect the juicer and turn it on.
S-L-O-W-L-Y feed the parsley into the juicer with the safety pusher
then slowly feed your apples through
then slowly feed the ginger through
then slowly feed the carrots through.
STIR THE FINISHED JUICE WELL BEFORE POURING.
DRINK IMMEDIATELY! Juice starts to lose it's vitamins on contact with air. If you do make too much juice, refrigerate it in a GLASS CONTAINER and use it within 24 hours."
Replies[YEA] 01/10/2010: Rainidaze from Los Angeles, Ca replies: "I too use that vegetable mix with very good success.
For increased energy and more mental acuity I make the following juice
5 carrots
1 cucumber (I like the English variety)
1/2 bell pepper
1/4 red,and yellow and orange bell pepper
2 apples
3 stalks of celery
juice of one lime
1/2 bunch of parsley
one inch of ginger root
2 cups Pineapple chunks fresh (optional)
After juicing place juice in a blender add
2-3 hand fulls of spinanch blend until smooth
Drink daily to every other day for best results
Of course organic is best but don't delay because you don't have all the perfect ingredients yet."
[YEA] 04/20/2010: Todd from Austin, Tx, Usa replies: "I agree with vegetable juicing as a potential remedy for acne. I gave Hydrogen Peroxide a go for a few weeks and it did seem to help, but it wasn't stopping the root of the problem, only nipping it in the bud, as it were (not to mention dying a lot of my brown hair blond). My acne would still come, and then the HP would help tame it down sooner. Not really ideal, but I went along with it, because I loathe acne.
THEN I began juicing green vegetables. Actually I began this as an attempt to heal my chronic sinusitis (my number one affliction and arch-nemesis) by way of adjusting my pH. Sinusitis persists (still working on that), but my acne has halted--that is, more or less, gone.
I've been using slightly different recipes than above. I limit the sugary (glucose) vegetables like carrots to one or two. I try to use mostly dark leafy greens like spinach, collards, kale, with a base of small amounts of carrot, celery, and cucumber. Parsley and the like is good too. I've been told (and read), think "green." I experiment and switch it up form week to week, but try to make small amounts of concentrated green juice. I'm talking 10 ozs or less. I take mine on an empty stomach in the mornings. Within a few days, before I could pinpoint what was going on, my acne just stopped forming. It's been a few weeks now and the improvement is substantial.
I'm not sure what to attribute this to; my internet research (what other kind is there?) yields conflicting results. Some say pH! some say detox! others hormones! Fortunately I don't have to know how it works. I just drink it and smile my unblemished face.
Will this work for you? I can not say. Do I think it could? Yes. Do I think you should invest in a $40 entry level juicer and some organic vegetables to see what happens? Yes. Best of luck everyone.
PS I will say this last thing. I read you should be careful with too much greens too soon. I believe this is important. Please start slow. Maybe try some palatable juices first (as mentioned above, carrot, celery, cucumber), then slowly add the greens in. I know you're eager for clean skin, but take it slow and you'll be glad."

CABBAGE JUICE FOR GERD
Ratings:
|
[YEA] 05/20/2007: Sarah from Brussels, Belgium: "A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with GERD and I suffered from acid reflux and heartburn. The medication prescribed by the doctor rather worsened my situation and I suffered a number of side effects from it. I came across a site suggesting that drinking raw cabbage juice cures acid reflux and other problems related to the stomach, such as ulcer.I did further research to confirm this and decided to give it a try.
The general suggested daily dosage is about a quart [800ml] of raw cabbage juice to be taken about 4 times daily. I found that rather too much and I started with 400ml [100ml x 4].I noticed great improvement and after one week I reduced the dosage to 300ml [100ml x 3]. After about 3 weeks of the whole therapy, I decided to take only 200ml a day. Those with stomach ulcers or acute cases of acid reflux might need to take the full dosage.
I have stopped drinking cabbage juice since about 10 months now and I haven't had any serious reflux problems. For those who would like to try it, PLEASE NOTE that it is said to have strong impact on the thyroid glands [the more reason why I never consumed 800ml a day!]. Not to mention the stench - it is better stored in an air-tight water bottle and kept in the fridge. Good luck to all, and thanks for the great site."

CARROT JUICE

[YEA] 11/18/2009: L.sinclair from Boulder, Colorado, USA: "I started juicing about a year ago, when a friend of mine became obsessed with enzymes and their healing properties. At the time I was dealing with severe fatigue, and was willing to try anything.
My favorite juice consists of (all organic):
2 apples
4-6 carrots (depending on size of carrots)
a handful of fresh spinach
I drink this every morning, and sometimes in the evening. I notice an increase in energy, revitalization, my skin glows, acne clears up in days, any congestion disappears, and it also helps suppress appetite."

[SIDE EFFECTS] 09/06/2009: Connie from Manitowoc, Wisconsin, USA: "I noticed one day that my contacts looked rather orange. They're supposed to be mildly blue. After deciding it must have been all the carrot juice I was drinking, I quit drinking carrot juice. Probably a little now and then or diluted would be ok, though. So far the new pair is not orange and I have had almost zero carrot juice. Just a word of caution."
Replies02/04/2011: Pam from Usa replies: "Ha! Ha! Thats a little funny, you must admit! But you are right. When my son was about one years old the only baby food he liked eating were sweet potatoes and carrots among others, but the orange food for some reason he liked best and therefor I would always give it to him because he had a poor appetite. Then when I took him to the doctor for a check up, he went of laughing and told me to take a good look at him and his hands. They were orange! It was funny because here I thought he had a nice summer hue to him! The Doc said you are what you eat (which its true) and therefor you must eat in balance moderation. I guess if I eat to much blue stuff I'll end up looking like a Avatar! LOL... Good advice, for I was a teen mom and rather clueless at the time. Wish I knew all the things I've learned from this amazing website back then!
Love you guys! "

[WARNING!] 10/31/2007: Irene from Hermosa, South Dakota: "Sometimes I wake up at night with one or both feet cramping and sometimes it is my ankle or leg cramping. Sometimes if I am in bed for 1/2 hour or so before going to sleep my feet will cramp. Someone said stretching your feet and legs will help but it didn't. Usually I will walk around for awhile and usually take Vit C, D and E. Within 5 minutes the cramping sometimes stops. During the time I was healing my liver from jaundice I was taking 45-60 ounces of carrot juice a day and then I had a lot of cramps."
Replies01/05/2008: Rathnashikamani from Kalpakkam, Chennai, Tamilnadu, INDIA replies: "Irene from Hermosa, South Dakota wrote: CARROT JUICE CAUSED LEG CRAMPS. It may not be because of carrot juice. It may be due to deficiency of Vitamin-E (Tocopherol). Germinated wheat/green gram are rich in Vitamin-E, which is safer than those pills."
05/23/2009: JB from So Cal, Ca replies: "I suffered from severe leg and feet cramping, as a freediver I found this to be a little dangerous, so as I ruled out with the Dr.s after a long 2 yrs, the conclusion was a potassium deficiency, as I began a regimen in potassium rich foods along with dietary supplements they went away, key lots of water!!
Good Luck!"
05/23/2009: Kay from Somewhere in the USA replies: "A friend who's mother is on dialysis has a problem with leg cramps at nightime and dissolves 1/4 or 1/2 teaspoon baking soda (start with 1/4) in 8-10 oz. of pure water (not arm& hammer- organic bs from a health food store only costs approx. $3.50 a lb. but lasts a long time) and it relieved hers so, I tried it and it worked for me too. I hope that helps."

CORRECT RATIO OF INGREDIENTS

[YEA] 03/22/2008: Maureen from Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada: "My comment is to Gaye from Greenwich, CT. I have been juicing for more than 20 years. You need to make 7/8's of your juice as carrot juice and 1/8 greens. Or 1/8 combination of greens and beets. Beets are a powerful cleanser and you will have to lay down for half an hour after taking too much because of the cleaning effect, no matter how long you have been juicing! So be careful. Carrot Juice is the closest thing to the make-up of your blood. To give you an idea of how much beets to use we juice 4 lbs of carrots, one whole cucumber and a small beet the size of a golf ball. You can judge from that what amount you will need. Maureen"
Replies03/19/2008: Gaye from Greenwich, CT replies: "I find that I have extreme brain fog (and brain fatigue for that matter) when I eat wheat and sugary things. I have made a great effort in the past few weeks to radically reduce my sugar intake and limit wheat consumption. I have also been eating tons and tons of cooked vegetable dishes with brown rice (Indian, Morrocan, etc. -- you can't believe how many recipes there are for vegetables!). I have also reduced my chicken and fish intake. And forget about beef after the humane society's video. NO WAY! Well, the most amazing changes I have discovered in the past week are that I have a very clear mind and sharper concentration that lasts consistently all day! My skin is also softer and my eyes are brighter.. dark circles not quite so noticeable. My husband and I just got a juicer and we have been having carrot and celery juice every few days. My current issue with juicing is that it appears to cause an acid pH quite quickly, but I might be doing the wrong concoction of ingredients. I tried cabbage and beets one day but felt nauseous for the next 12 hours!"

CUCUMBER JUICE

|
[SIDE EFFECTS] 02/04/2011: Jane from Asheville, NC: "Hi everyone,
I am hoping someone can help me. I started juicing greens last month with great results (energy, glowing skin, detoxifying effects, etc). However, on the two ocassions that I added a cucumber to my concoction, I have gotten a strange reaction in the brain about half an hour later. Yesterday I juiced 1 medium cucumber along with a lime, piece of ginger, a green apple, 1 head of romaine lettuce. Half an hour later, I felt a hot, rushing sensation in the top part of my head and then for the rest of the day I had a slight headache. The same happened to me in January, but I didn't figure out it was the cucumber addition until yesterday. In Jan, I thought I might have had an overdose of vitamin d from the 5,000mg supplement I take every day and too much green juice. But now I am not so sure. Do you think this is a pesticide reaction? I feel much better today. The cucumber was not organic. Thanks in advance for any insight you might have."
02/06/2011: Maria from Gippsland, Australia replies: "Jane I don't know about the side effect on the brain but the headache could be a detox reaction. It could also be dehydration or a combination of the two. Cucumber is fantastic at removing some excess fluid, especially if you found that you were making extra bathroom trips that day and not drinking enough water. I juiced two large cucumbers and gave the juice to a young lass who had bad sunburn and as a result her legs were swollen. As she was going to be flying in 8 hrs, to outback Australia to go camping, we needed to get her legs back to normal. After drinking the cucumber juice she lay down for about 4 hrs rest with her feet elevated. Well lots of trips to the bathroom later and she had legs back to normal although still burnt. I also made sure to give her plenty of fluids.
To help remove some chemical residue from fruit and veg use some H2O2 to wash or soak them. Some spay with 3% H2O2 then spray with white vinegar and then wash."

CURE FOR ALL DISEASES

[YEA] 08/02/2011: Blindedbyscience from Asheville, Nc: "I've had receding gums since I was a teenager, I'm now 50 and have gotten by. Lately my teeth are looking pretty good, my top gums have all grown down. About 2 weeks ago I started vegetable juicing again and feel that that has been a big factor. I have an old Juiceman and don't usually buy organic although I also have my own garden. A typical green juice would be celery, cucumber, some greens (kale, mustard greens, spinach, etc. ) and an apple. I was using juices from the Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead documentary. Also since my juicer doesn't do greens too well I also make green smoothies in my $20 blender which works fine. I've been a strict lacto vegetarian for 30 yrs. I feel my health has quite noticeably improved. I was getting a spot on my nose that bled so I think it was basal cell, I'm still watching it but it has almost disappeared. For teeth I highly recommend D3 which I don't take religiously but do take. For vegans there is now a plant source D3 from mushrooms, I guess you can't name products here but I found it in Earthfare. D3 should have k2 with it and you should take it separately from Vit A and with some fat (optimally)."
Replies11/23/2011: Phil from Seattle, Wa replies: "I have managed a dermatology clinic for years and you need to get the bleeding lesion on your nose biopsied immediately. It is probably a basal cell, but it could be a melanoma and that needs immediate attention. Please schedule an appointment with a dermatologist or primary care doc that will biopsy it. Please do this quickly."

GENERAL FEEDBACK
08/03/2011: Breanna from Tucson, Az - Arizona: "Juice Fasting on medications
My parents and I have recently bought a juicer and wanted to start fasting. My stepdad is on medications such as warfarin. I know that we need to be careful with what we juice because of this blood thinner. He has been feeling very light headed today and we are worried the juice is counteracting with the medications. We want him to get healthy but not harm him in the process. We are careful not to juice too many greens. We juice mainly celery, cucumber, beets, apples, & certain other fruits. Not too many greens like I said. Other than consulting a doctor, can anyone give me any advice or info on this at all? it would be very appreciated. Thank you much people of this site!"
Replies04/03/2012: Cat from Austin, Tx replies: "Sounds like your dad may have problems with the sugar from the sweet fruits, particularly if heavy fruit consumption has not been his normal thing. Juicing more veggies would be the ticket if the above is the case. Today's fruits like bananas, oranges, pinapple, grapes... Are high in sugar and dizziness can result if eaten in concintration. I get dizzy with more than 1/2 of a small banana. Here's what I would do for your dad and its simple to do: 1. Puchase a glucose meter & strips at the store (walgreens/walmart) 2. Prick his finger and test his blood first thing before he gets the fruit-filled juice & write down the number reading you get. 4. Give another test about 20 minutes after he drinks the fruity drink. If his sugar jumps 30 , this might be your answer as to why he feels dizzy. I would also test a green drink (cucumbers, parsley, celery... ) and see if there is a difference, like under 30. When we get older, we just don't handle food the way we could when we were younger For example: No matter what she eats, my 30 year old daughter's blood sugar stays under 100. Mine, even when I'm eating healthly (not obsessing on fruit, grain glutens, starches or overeating) rises to 110-120. GREAT since I once ran as high as 220. By the way, this method of testing is also being used to test inflammatory, trigger foods for people with asthma, allergies, celiac, and IBS food sensitivities.
Sorry I'm so long-winded. Good luck on your journey to great health.... CAT"

My husband and I started doing it at the beginning of December when we ordered a masticating juicer online and we feel that it has improved our health. We really crave our juice every day and our nails are growing stronger, my hair stopped falling, a problem I had had all my life and there are I suppose many other benefits. It would be great to be able to exchange experiences and also know what others think about their juicers. I know that one is not suppose to mention brands but it would be very useful to be able to compare notes especially because the good ones are not cheap. Maybe also about books with recipes we bought and love? I am on my first one day juice fast today. So far so good, not really hungry. Next week, as my husband won't be home for two days I will try a two day one."
EC: Hi Francisca, we do already have a page in the remedies section on juicing!

INFLAMMATION

[YEA] 01/15/2010: Nugo from Brentwood, Ny, Usa: "Vegetable juices great for inflammation!!
I've been suffering from inflammation all my life, there is no diet that make lose weight, I have noticed however that all grains: corn, chicken peas, all beans, rice, wheat, potatoes make me to gain from 4 to 6 pounds easily during the night!! My meal doesn't even weight that much! So I just don't eat them. But lately I started juicing and I have noticed big changes in my body. Hands, arms, knees, ankles are now a lot better. I can feel my bones now.
I drink a big glass of vegetable and fruit juice in the morning as a breakfast and that's all. My diet is the same so it has to be the juicing! I don't have a recipe I just put on the blender what I have in my refrigerator that day (carrots, apple, pears, strawberries, banana, any fruit and cucumber, celery, spinach and any other leaves I got. I would say I'm impressed."

JUICE FASTING

11/11/2009: Kelly from Cincinnati, Ohio: "if you need info on fasting.. google "juice fasting" and read alot of testimonials and dr. articles. Knowledge is power. this is not something to go into lightly. I'm moving towards this as well to deal with some health issues. According to a doctor article, he stated that juice FASTING is kind of a misnomer as traditional fasting means "no food", technically juice fasting is liquid food. Your digestive system remains at rest while your body is still recieving nutrition.
---Warning-- I recently put myself on a cabbage soup diet and took the advise of a poster to take the hot soup, and for a change of pace, puree it in a blender. It was DELICIOUS. Unfortunately I didn't know I had gallbladder issues and a gallbladder attack ensued. It was a wake up call to how ill I am. NOT GIVING UP! If this is a possibility for anyone else simply, go to gallbladderattack.com click on the diet link and you will see a list of do and don't veggies. there are plenty of do's for a juice fast. Also, many will try to sell you on their plans. those differ as well. some docs say x amount of glasses/day, others say drink as much as you want because you can't OD on good nutrition. Personally, I am diabetic so my rule of thumb will be to add equal amounts of purified water to the juice and to stick to vegetable over fruit juice to maintain blood sugar levels. Some tell diabetics not to juice fast at all while others have been totally healed of their diabetes. You will see that ultimately it's your decision. read read read and decide. I am w/o insurance and have no money so I am using natural remedies for detox issues combined w/ the juice fasting. I'll update later. GOD BLESS!"

[YEA] 02/01/2008: Gabriela from Pahoa, USA: "I have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis almost 25 years ago and was suffering on and off with painful inflammation in my hands. After taking all the usual prescribed medicines for about a year, I had enough and went on to cure myself. I did 4 weeks of juice fasting and afterwards ate only vegan and mostly raw foods (all organic). I also let the dentist remove all my amalgams. Over the years when my diet got poor and my stress levels high, I would get inflammation again. Whenever I went back to juice fasting (the ultimate detoxification, I would do this for all kinds of diseases) and eating RAVE diet (google it) foods, I get symptom free. Stress in life is often unavoidable, but we have power over the foods we eat. Juice fasting and RAVE diet are my cure for Rheumatoid arthritis. If I find myself eating too sweet (sugar is poison, I use Stevia and Agave syrup only), I counteract with greens. (alalize again). Industrial food (all prepared food) is poison. I don't eat it."

JUICING TIPS
09/06/2009: Connie from Manitowoc, Wisconsin, USA: "Slice Stringy Vegetables for Easier Juicing...
If you've ever tried juicing a hunk of burdock root you know that stringy vegetables can be nearly impossible to juice. If you slice the offender into lengthwise strips about 1/2 inch wide it will be much easier to juice."

N/A BEER FOR JUICING ABDOMINAL PAIN

[YEA] 03/10/2008: Robert from Orlando, Florida: "Non-alcoholic beer remedy
Years ago I began to drink large amounts of fruit or vegetable juices like grape or V-8 or tomato juice, but the acid content eventually began to irritate my bowels. At one point my body could no longer tolerate those juices getting severe intestinal pains if I took any amount.
Then I began drinking juices together with non-alcoholic beer and found that, amazingly, I could drink unlimited amounts of juices that way without any problem whatsoever. I don't know what it is about beer that mitigates the effects of the acid in juices but I have been mixing the two and drinking them for many years now with no ill effects whatsoever. In fact, I find the taste of the combination to be superior to the taste of either one alone. The best way to do it is to mix the juice together (maybe about 25% to 50% beer) but they can be taken separately too."
Replies05/25/2011: Kathie from Houston, United States replies: "I have read several studies that show that alcohol opens your cells up to better absorb whatever you are consuming. That is why smokers that drink are more prone to throat cancer that non drinking smokers. But I would assume that juicing with alcohol could be beneficial if you do not have alcoholic tendencies. My husband will sometimes do a tequila shot in the evening when we juice. I would not recommend it, but it does make you wonder if he is getting more benefit..."

ONION JUICE

[YEA] 02/01/2008: Gabriela from Pahoa, USA: "When I had a cold or the flu in the past, my body could never get rid of it. I always got bronchitis and always had to take anti-biotics to finally stop it all. One day I said to myself with TOTAL determination: I will not allow to get a cold again, because my body can't fight it. Since then I have had only one cold (in 10 years). That one I cured with the juice of one large organic onion per day(made in the Champion juicer) and mixed with fresh orange juice. I had to drink this for 2 days only and was fine again. I regard onion juice as a natural anti-biotic."
Replies09/06/2009: Connie from Manitowoc, Wisconsin, USA replies: "How would you describe the flavor? Can a nice mild Vidalia be used or are the massive hot yellow onions better?"

[YEA] 02/01/2008: Gabriela from Pahoa, USA: "I have had pinworms for almost a year. I tried unsuccessful at first to treat it naturally. I spent $ 300.00 for an internal parasite cleanse (DR.Natura) which did absolutely nothing. I was told it is NOT possible to treat them other than with allopathic medicines. Pin-Ex didn't work. As here on a remote island, I don't have access to a personal doctor, only to a clinic where little time is at hand and only 1 medicine is prescribed(Mebendazole). If that doesn't work, bad luck. After I was sufficiently angry and determined to help myself, it worked again as it always has in the past. I find that this TOTAL determination to help myself is necessary to find my cure. First I drank the juice of one big onion mixed with sweet orange juice (fresh) for 2 days (to alkalize my system). This is my personal first aid with almost ALL illness. Then I ate 3-4 bulbs of garlic during the day. I added Epazote to my herbal teas and meals (one tablespoon over the day). And I drank 2 ginger teas and ate all the cut up ginger (about a table spoon full) at the end with some agave sirup. At night I used one quarter tablet of pin-ex as a suppository to kill the worms in the anus and be able to sleep without squirming worms and stop them from laying more eggs. I had to do this only 3 or 4 nights, then I was symptom free. I hung bedsheets and blankets all day in the sun, every day for a week. Changed towels and clothing daily."

POTATO JUICE

[QUESTION] 09/06/2009: Connie from Manitowoc, Wisconsin, USA: "Anyone who has juiced a potato knows that a paste collects at the bottom of the glass. This is probably potato starch. Anyone disagree? In that case, not drinking the paste would conceivable reduce the carbohydrate value of the beverage. Anyone know if it would affect other nutrient values?
There is a brand of organic russet potato here that tastes sweet, rather than bitter when eaten raw. Even garden potatoes taste bitter in comparison. Do organic standards rule out genetically modified crops? Why do these taste sweet?"
