is it true that after i cut or chop 1 clove of garlic into smaller pieces, i must leave it expose to the air for at least 15 mins then only can eat it?
if i put those small pieces garlic in my mouth and chew it again, will it destroy the benefit of it?

09/24/2009: T from Maryland, Usa replies: "Hi Chong, leaving garlic to sit after chopping maximizes the beneficial compounds in it. Garlic does not contain allicin per se; it is formed in garlic after chopping or crushing. Letting it sit 10 minutes before cooking with it or consuming it raw is a good timeframe to maximize the formation of allicin. I don't think the chewing you'd do to ingest it is going to take away the benefits. If you're concerned, then just swallow small pieces whole like you would a vitamin capsule (that is what I do)."

I have a 94 year old neighbor who is as erect, incredibly active, looks younger and when I asked her what regiments she thought were helping her she answered that since she was about 25 she began to drink milk boiled with fresh garlic. Can you please explain more specifically how this combo aids in health? I remember Ted had warned that having milk with other foods would block the vitamins and minerals from being processed into the body and that, in fact, milk should be taken alone to get all the benefits of its vitamins and minerals."

Also, garlic in boiled milk is an ayurvedic formula traditionally used for tuberculosis and asthma!

[YEA] 12/27/2007: Shane from Sherman Oaks, California writes: "I have been studying Natural Remedies and herbal cures for years and found only an obscure reference to garlic for the treatment of boils in an old text. I used to get herpes around the mouth really bad where it would sometimes completely encircle my lips by 1/4 to 1/2 inch. The way to use garlic to treat these outbreaks is this (not entirely pleasant) - Take any size clove and break or cut in half. Eat one half immediately and chew completely. Take the other half and rub into the affected areas. THIS WILL STING- That's it! repeat as necessary until the herpes pain is gone. The first time you do this it will take a few applications every day until it stops the progression of the blistering. It will scab up. There will be a longer interval between outbreaks but the next time it happens start the treatment with garlic as soon as you feel it coming on. The blistering should not get very far if it even blisters at all. It takes 3-4 progressions of outbreaks and by they should be further and further between. I have not had an outbreak since 1995. A year ago I felt it a little and used the garlic right away and the feeling stopped immediately. ODORLESS GARLIC GELCAPS DO NOT WORK FOR THIS!!! I TRIED THEM AND THEY ARE WORTHLESS. Must be fresh garlic. Do not cut corners."
12/10/2009: Jennifer from Long Beach, Ca replies: "Vitamin E oil will stop and heal an outbreak, apply at first tingle or itchy feeling. Start adding lemon in your water to balance your ph ASAP do not consume food or beverages that cause acidosis or an acidic environment. Herpes will only break out if your ph is to acidic. I know lemon acid, but once consumed it becomes alkaline. Do some research on alkaline foods and acidic, both are needed but alkaline at a much higher ratio."

I take twelve softgels when I feel the tingling and then three every four hours while awake for the next few days. If I don't get it soon enough to prevent it then it only lasts a few days. I also use the softgels for when I have ear pain. I pierce the gelcap and squeeze the contents on a cottonball and put it in the offending ear for an hour. Then do the same over night. You will feel an immediate response and the overnight treatment only needs to be done for a couple of nights. I LOVE garlic. These remedies I have found through many health and herbal remedy books."

[QUESTION] 03/24/2009: David Aames from New York, New York writes: "I was just wondering if there was a time of the day that you should take the garlic cloves. Does it matter if you take it after a meal or should you take it before a meal. Does it have any less effect if you don't take it on an empty stomach?
Or is it the case that as long as you take it that's all that matters...that one shouldn't be concerned about the placement/time of taking it.
I just started taking the garlic...after I peel 1-3(depending on the size of the clove) garlic cloves I squash them with a garlic press and then scoop it out and drink it with water.

The garlic is absorbed through the feet. Works best over night if you can stand it. This also works great for children."

It can be any kind of broth (no solids) so as to give your digestive system a break. Personally, I love the taste of roasted garlic. So I either sautee/bake fresh garlic and add it to the broth,then finely chop fresh garlic and add it as well (after heating-stir in and let sit a couple of minutes). The amount depends on ones tolerance for garlic. But that way I get the best of both worlds. The flavor of the roasted garlic and the allicin (the enzyme in garlic that fights disease) as well. cooking garlic kills most of the allicin so this is a good way to get it raw in a larger quantity. Ps....What inspired me to write this story ? I was at the dentist 8am Tuesday morning [1-23-07] ..... with a tooth abscess. The pain was incredible......Guess what ? Yep, Garlic. I couldn't do any garlic treatments the past few days on account of my social life so I had to wait until today to crush 14 cloves of raw garlic into a jar filled half way with (good water) not tap water. I would swish the elixir around the infected area....press garlic pieces into the infected area with my tongue.... I feel less pain as we speak. "I ain't got no tooth insurance" so, (I'm sure to cancel the appointment now) but I believe than if I got the bill in the mail from a scheduled appointment next week I would be in much worse pain both physically and financially. Garlic is quite amazing...."

Even when I put my head under a pillow I still saw them, and it was very scarey. I went to a nuerologist and had a cat scan of my brain, his conclusion was he said I have the side effects of a migraine without the headaches. Well, since taking one garlic tablet every day, I am very excited to say, that I have had NO problems for about 4 years. So of course I told the Doctor. He didn't say much, I guess he was a skeptic."

[YEA] 05/14/2008: Mary from Mary, USA writes: "Hi guys. I started the garlic procedure to remove a raised mole on my forearm. I've warn long sleeves for forever because of how much I hated it. About a month ago I heard about this remedy, so I tried it & after about 4 days I wasn't seeing any results besides half of the mole was a bit lighter. I stopped the experiment, & after a few weeks, I decided to try 1 more time so I started 2 days ago, this is my 3rd day now & I definetely see results ! I really think its going to work. The 1st time I tried this remedy I was putting too big of a piece on the mole, about 4 times the sixe of it, which was just damaging the sin around the mole. Now I've been only cutting a small piece to fit the mole perfectly. I've heard you should scratch at the mole just a little bit w a knife or something, not hard, so thats what I did this time [only the 1st time u apply the garlic, not everytime, just once for the whole experiment], so i washed the area 1st, scratched the mole up a tiny bit, cut the clove up, with the knife I rubbed the juice from the garlic onto my mole, I started to feel a tingling because I scratched at it, then wet a napkin & cleaned up any juice around the mole on my skin, apply the garlic piece & put a bandaid on. I go to work & 11 hours later take the bandage off & wash it & do the whole thing over w a fresh bandaid and piece of garlic. I have been using a whole new clove for each application. It is a big waste of garlic since I only use a tiny piece of it, but the cloves dry out quickly, even in a ziplock bag, so I just get a new 1. They are very cheap anyways. Now, my 3rd day, my mole is raised quite a bit more & its a bubble that I want to pop so badly ! There are a couple tiny bubbles on my skin around the mole, but from now on I am going to apply vaseline on my skin surrounding the mole to protect the skin. I will keep u guys updated !"

I was diagnosed with mono and immediately began a garlic treatment of as much sliced garlic as possible a day. I probably averaged a bulb or bulb and one half a day. For approximately 1 year I have had recurring bouts of strep throat and viral throat infections. These occurred every few months or so. 6 months ago I have was sick continuously for 2 months. I had NO energy and difficulty swallowing. My throat was always felt like it was on fire. Often it was bright red and/or covered in white spots. I was prescribed rounds of antibiotics and even had to take 3 penicillin shots. Nothing worked. UNTIL.
For about 3-4 weeks I drank fresh garlic (2 cloves crushed), ginger, honey, and lemon tea. I did this 3-4 times a day. Approximately 1 week after starting this course, I began to feel better. 2 weeks later I was 100% again. I still drink the tea and/or chew a piece of raw garlic whenever I feel a scratch in my throat or a little under the weather.
The best side effect for me was that the garlic tea course has also almost completely cleared up the acute toenail fungus I had on the majority of my nails. It was so bad that my two big toenails were almost completely yellow and hardened with areas of black; they even had begun to separate from the nail beds. For the first time in 3 years I can go nail polish free.

It started with chronic tonsillitis that nothing would help and it would be two years before I could get them out, I am now 31. I was having infections twice a month and in desperation I came to Earth Clinic and found the garlic remedy for infection. I took one clove 3x per day when an infection was starting and one clove before bed as prevention. I have not had a full blown cold since! What I do is slice up the clove and swallow in slivers like pills before bed.
Garlic also cures my recurring cold sores on my lips. As soon as I feel one coming on, I slice a clove of garlic and hold it firmly to the sore until it goes numb. I have to be honest that it hurts like nothing I have ever felt, but because it has worked so well, I endure it for 10 minutes or so. I swear I can feel it burning the infection away! Immediately the bump goes down and often does not even scab, just goes away."
