Bloodroot Cures
Updated: 05/09/2008
The infamous herb called Bloodroot is a perennial flowering plant native to eastern North America. Bloodroot also goes by the names: sanguinaria canadensis, bloodwort, red puccoon root, pauson and tetterwort.
Medical Uses: (http://2bnthewild.com/plants/H261.htm)
Native Americans, early settlers and herbal practitioners have prescribed Bloodroot for myriad medical conditions from skin cancers to sore throats. Its most persistent and possibly valid use takes advantage of the flesh destroying properties of the root juice or powered root for treating conditions of the skin such as ringworm, warts, polyps, fungal growths and the like. Researchers are investigating the root's value in cancer treatment. An extract has long been used in toothpaste and mouthwash to fight plaque and gingivitis and this use is now sanctioned by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The root has been used internally, in very small doses, to stimulate the digestive system and as an emetic. Self medication should be avoided, as the plant can be toxic. Even small doses can produce unwanted effects such as visual distortions.
BLOODROOT FOR DOGS
1 MAYBE
[MAYBE] 05/03/2006: Deirdre from LA writes: "Last month I ordered bloodroot paste on Ebay. I wanted to use it on my dog who has a few benign growths, but after reading about the pain it can cause, decided to test it on a mole on my wrist first. I applied a tiny bit the first night and covered it up with a bandaid. Didn't do much. The next night I applied the paste more liberally. That night I was awakened with shooting pains in the area of the mole. The pain continued for the next few days on and off. However, within 2 days, all the tissue surrounding the mole had died off and turned gray (if this had been on my face, I would have freaked out!). On one website I researched, this dying off effect is supposed to be normal and only happen if the tissue is unhealthy. At any rate, after 1 week the mole had not fallen off and I had a quarter size of new pink tissue growing around it. Very interesting. I have since been trying it on my dog very very slowly. 1 small application every 10 days or so. It seems to be working but is taking ages. He licks the growth for a day or two after I apply the paste, so I think there is some pain for him. I may just end up having them removed at the vet even though he is quite old. I also read about iodine to treat skin growths, so that may be another option in the future."Reply to this Feedback E-mail this Feedback Print this Feedback Back to Top
BLOODROOT FOR SKIN TAGS
1 YEA
[YEA] 02/04/2008: Debbie from NA, CA writes: "You can still buy it at: !! But it comes in 2 parts and you have to mix it yourself. Very helpful also. I don't think I read this source here, but I didn't read every single post either. Just in case: http://www.altcancercream.com/default2.asp
My husband did try it on a rather large skin tag. It was difficult to cover w/bandaid. It got really gross also but one day it turned BLACK!! and eventually fell off. I guess the tag was too large (about 1/2 inch long???) so he had to do it again. Both time it definitely was painful. But it now is just a little bump but always pink. I don't think he wants to try it anymore. He cut off another one that was smaller and that was the easier way to go."

[YEA] 05/04/2006: Mary from Girard, PA writes: "Black Salve and "Tonic" from yahoo group "blacksalveandpetswithcancer" for a lump. I had a cancerous tonsil removed, but still had an almond-sized lump under my jaw. The lump seems gone. You can see photos at: http://tinyurl.com/zmwos. The tonic has chapparal, graviola, neem and andrographis. I recommend looking at the yahoo group posts and files for more information. Most in the group felt Essiac tea was not as effective as the Tonic. In fact, Essiac tea sometimes enlarged the tumors. I was to have 40 rounds of chemo/radiation; but the salve worked in 20 days and I believe the entire tumor was removed. I will continue drinking the Tonic."Reply to this Feedback E-mail this Feedback Print this Feedback Back to Top
DISCOID LUPUS: WARNING, PIGMENT REMOVED

[YEA] 04/26/2007: Eve (circlebear@hotmail.com) from Atlanta, Ga writes: "I have been studying about Discoid Lupus for some time now. I have had pre-cancer spots removed but was subsequentially diagnosed with Discoid. I used Blood Root oil on several places on my chest not knowing if it was pre-cancer or discoid and to my surprise the lesions went away after about three weeks. The only problem with this treatment is that it removed the pigment from those areas and are now white and it is impossible to cover them. I am presently using the same treatment for the lesions on my face hoping for the same result knowing that I will lose pigment but that is better than the red, raised, scaly lesion."Reply to this Feedback E-mail this Feedback Print this Feedback Back to Top

My state was stable although I was feeling tired all the time and had swollen glands in the back of my neck and behind the ears. I had tried a few natural remedies to try and cope with the virus, but they all seemed so inefficient. Then a friend told me about Bloodroot and how it is used to locally treat some kind of cancers... I said why not... and I ordered the pills, which were hard to find! Every website said that internal use of bloodroot is toxic and dangerous... But I tried anyway, and I took 450mg 3 times a day (and I'm still taking it), it's been 3 weeks since I started and i don't regret it!!! The lymph nodes have almost disappeared, I gained some weight on my body and face. The bags under my eyes are gone! And i have so much energy now! It's crazy...! I told my doctor about it and he said he'll do a blood test to see if I have a toxicity level in my blood. I'll post you the results."Reply to this Feedback E-mail this Feedback Print this Feedback Back to Top
HOW TO MAKE BLOODROOT
1 YEA
[YEA] 08/24/2007: Jeff from Wichita, Kansas writes: "This is regarding Bloodroot. I have made and have used a blood root past also know as black salve. A doctor that I have worked with now uses this almost exclusively to treat warts. I have never seen it not work. Here is the recipe:
1/2 cup powdered Blood Root (Sanguinaria Canadensis)
1/2 cup Zinc Chloride, crystals or liquid
1/2 cup common white flour
1 1/2 cup warm water
100ml Chaparral extract or 100gm of powdered Chaparral (Larrea mexicana)
Pre-mix all but the water, thoroughly, before adding to the water. Using a stainless steel double boiler. Put in water, then stir in the other ingredients. Stir in well using a wooden spoon. Cook for thirty minutes over boiling water, stirring constantly. Application is much the same as cansema. Apply a thin layer (2-3mm) of the paste over the affected area and cover for 24 hours. Then remove the covering but do not disturb the lesion at all, do not attempt to pull the cancer out at any time, it should fall out in 10 days or so. Some people with sensitive skin put Vaseline or antibiotic ointment around the cancer so that the paste does not irritate the skin."Reply to this Feedback E-mail this Feedback Print this Feedback Back to Top

MOLES
9 YEA 1 NAY 2 WARNING!
[WARNING!] 05/09/2008: Donna from Washington, DC writes: "I used the bloodroot salve almost three weeks ago. I only used a little bit on four small moles, probably the size of a pin head and covered the area with a bandaid. The next morning I had redenss and swelling under my eyes and scabs where the moles were. It looked like I was in a fight! I called the company and was very frustrated. The guy told me that the reaction was normal, and that it would heal. Within the next two days the scab came off of one which is healed, but light in color. On the left side of my face was the bigger mole. It was a little bigger than a pin head, but once the mole fell off the area was bigger. That area has also healed, but is white in color with some darkness around the circled area. Once again I contacted the company and the guy stated that the skin would repigment over time. The problem that I am experiencing now is on my left cheek where I removed three small moles. My excema has flared up, which is making my skin look terrible. I am trying to be patient with this process but it is very frustating. I would not advise using the cream on your face."Reply to this Feedback E-mail this Feedback Print this Feedback Back to Top
[YEA] 04/17/2008: Peggy from Gulf Breeze, FL writes: "About a year ago, I decided to use bloodroot to remove a pencil- eraser-sized mole on the left side of my chin close to the jaw line just below my mouth. I chose the bloodroot/DMSO combination since I understood that the DMSO would speed the process through the skin. I have to say that I was not prepared for what happened. Once I had started the process, though, there was no turning back. I covered just the mole with the bloodroot paste and kept it covered. I reapplied the paste for about a week. First, the mole turned a cheesy looking white. Then, it scabbed over and had a white ring completely around the edge of it. By this time, the whole thing was about the size of a dime. My jaw swelled up and there were shooting pains in it that kept me from sleeping. This really scared me and I contacted someone for advice. I was advised after about six days of applying the salve to stop applying it, just keep the scab area covered, swab around the OUTSIDE of it with peroxide and it would loosen and fall off. This seemed to take a little longer than I anticipated, but when I added a little warm compress, it truly did pop right out. You certainly don't want to rush this - it has to fall out on its own. The back of the "mole" was grayish and smoothe with little dots on it that I assume were the tiny blood vessels that had supplied blood to it. The spot where the mole had been looked like I had taken a paper punch and punched out a circle of skin. I thought I was in for a bad scar, but I started putting vitamin E on it and organic coconut oil. It's been a year now and the spot is not very noticable to anyone but me, and that's because I know its there. I continue to keep it oiled and also use anti-scar products just for good measure. The faint of heart should NOT use bloodroot, especially on their face. Using it on a floppy mole in some inconspicious place covered by clothing would probably be a lot less scary. My mole was fairly large and well anchored, and on my face - not the floppy kind on a stalk. I do think it is amazing stuff, BUT extreme care needs to be taken when using it. "

[WARNING!] 04/15/2008: Alex from London, United Kingdom writes: "I tried bloodroot bought off ebay last autum (2007) I do like herbal alternate remedies and was quite excited when reading about bloodroot. Looking at my moles for years (and being vain) I rejoiced at the possibility of having them vanish in an easy and scarless fashion (as proclaimed) Got a bit carried away though and decided to eradicate all about 30-40 off them on front and back of torso at once. Thought if they do take a few weeks to heal and might be unseemly in the mean time (plus I won't be able to use the sunbed to avoid pigment scarring) it would be better to do them all at once, rather than one after the other (which would have taken month and month...) The result was major discomfort - after 2-3 applications my body seemed to turn into a sea of skin irritation and itching!!! It really did drive me up the wall and since there was no position in which I could lie painless and itchfree (forget Paracetamol - won't help a bit), I did not realy sleep for 2 weeks.
Now for the benefit of the procedure. Some moles fell off pretty soon (especially the more raised ones) and have vanished hence. Mostly though - especially the smaller ones were still there when the scabs came off and I still have slight reddening around them. For the bigger flat ones - one fell off (with about 5mm of underneath skin tissue leaving a 8mm itching crater in the skin - took about another 10 days to close up and the result is a reddish smoth round scar as big as the mole there used to be. Several other bigger moles did prevail as well and are now suspiciouse looking, i.e. they are now multicoloured and less regular shaped. It does also seem a bit as if I have a few more tiny moles in vicinity to where treated mole on my abdomen. (cannot swear on that though). The post-bloodroot look of the multicolored moles did get me worried and my GP had two biopsised. Fortunately the biopsies were benign. They will still cut them both out completly to make sure though(ergo in the end the bloodroot did help me get rid of two more big moles, by causing the NHS to pay for their excision). If someone were to ask me - don't use bloodroot for the heck of it. Make sure that the moles you treat are really draining your self worth and not just little beauty spots. Consider the options - when I had the biopsis done the process was much more 'comfortable' that the bloodroot procedure, it did not hurt, did not itch and left less scarring yet."

The area around the mole went quite red about 1cm immediately around the mole it was raised up a bit and creamish colour. I covered it with a bandaid each day as it took weeks to heal, but when the scab finally came off the mole had gone. It has slowly healed and now I'm putting a little lavender essential oil on it each day and the scar is disappearing quite noticeably. I am a real fan of this website....thank you. Maily"

Used it to test it on a small mole that I have had all of my life before my wife used it on a suspicious looking mole on her back. Her "suspicious" mole fell off and healed considerably faster than my mole! Cansema worked very well. It was painful for me, not overly so, just noticeable. Her experience was mild. If you understand the process Cansema is an outstanding remedy. But to use it ignorantly would be unadvisable. Just one of many natural remedies that big pharma cannot profit from. It is impossible to patent natural cures. Therefore, a mainstream cure to cancer has become a money-making machine for the "gods" of this world. Who else would you take your clothes off for just because you are told to do so? Sheeple are to be sheared so become informed and share with your friends, family and neighbors."

It did what everyone else has said - scabbed, turned black, got a white ring, fell out. but now, ive got 2 hideous hypertrophic scars (red and raised) which my surgeon says will take years to fade. the one on my arm is about 1cm diameter while the mole was originally only about 2mm. There are complications with revising hypertrophic scars so for the mean time im stuck with them. Im not usually prone to hypertrophic scarring either. The freaky part is that beneath the scar there is a dark patch where the mole appears to be growing back. Now I feel like there are bigger things to worry about than permanent scars - like has the Bloodroot made a way for mole cells to access beneath the skin? If so am I at risk of melanoma? Someone please help me out."

[YEA] 08/06/2007: Chandi from Fairbanks, Alaska writes: "Hey, I said I'd write back after I finished using the bloodroot paste on a mole on my arm, so here I am! I am mostly pleased with the results. The reason I say mostly is because I seem to have missed a tiny bit of the mole when I was applying the paste, and am left with a tiny speck of mole, about the size of a pen-tip. But the part of the mole that did get covered is completely gone. I had applied a fresh bit of paste to the mole after every daily shower (because the medical tape got wet and uncomfortable, mostly) for a week. A white ring developed around the mole (the part that I had missed didn't get the ring). The surrounding skin was red and felt itchy, rather uncomfortable. At the end of the week, I left the bandage off while in the shower, and when the water hit it the scab that had formed in the center of the ring, it just fell off. I was left with a hole in the skin, not very deep, and it didn't hurt at all. After that, I applied Neosporin and a bandage, kept it changed every day for another week, and after that I stopped applying anything to it at all, not even a bandage. Now it's all healed up,the skin is smooth and there's only a pink mark, and the little speck of mole that I missed. I plan to use the paste again to get rid of the speck. "

SCARRING WITH BLOODROOT
1 YEA
[YEA] 11/01/2007: Cary from Phoenix, Arizona writes: "I have never used bloodroot, however I have read that it can cause scars. Scars such as burn scars are treated by continually keeping the skin moist. Extreme moisture' should allow all of the capillaries to grow back to gather fully, thus preventing scar tissue. The point I am making is that if it works for preventing scars for burn victims than it should prevent most other scaring. Keep in mind that what ever you use, it must contain antibacterial properties. Failure to do so my allow the area to become infected with bacteria and other nasty fungus, etc Neosporin and burn creams such as 1% silver sulfadiazine cream are two product that work well. It would also be beneficial if you can cover the area with a thin plastic wrap. Here in the USA we call it saran wrap. Its' the same thing they put over a new tattoo. Then a bandage, gauze or ace bandage will hold it in place. DO NOT let a scab form or else it will prevent the capillaries from forming new healthy skin. The scab is what causes the scaring in the first place. I have found that it is ok to let the bandaged area dry out a few hours a day. If the skin starts to harden, that's ok. It should soften up once again after you reapply the ointment and bandage.
Ps. If you have pre existing scar tissue you can use the same method, however it take much linger once the scar has already had time to form. God bless..."

I had some skin cancers removed many years ago and have lived a life in the sun but have no health insurance, was basically not dealing with these new spots until a friend told me about black salve and gave me a small amount to try...I tried it on many places on my face and only one reacted at first but in a terrible, painful manner..it burned and swelled' and turned into the ugly mess that so many others have experienced...I kept putting aloe(from a plant, not a bottle) and pure Vitamin E oil on the scab and when it fell off I had no scar.
I have now been using it all over my body and in particular all around the nose area, where the root seems concentrated...I have even used it inside my nose, tho all information says not to put it in the mucus membranes. One thing I do that no one has mentioned...when I am healing a spot and the black piece comes out. I immediately clean out the hole with peroxide and put more salve into the hole it left...some holes have continued to discharge as many as 10 applications...the discharged tumors are progressively lighter in color until finally no more comes from the spot..the hole closes beautifully and as I use Vitamin E oil on the scabs and all around the hole and in the hole, I never scar...and I have taken a LOT of this off my face. It seems to grow like a plant throughout the skin once it gets a hold and I have a lot of it but my body is cooperating with me, we are a team in the fight for our life. I also changed my diet to complete alkaline, stopped meat and all alcohol, eat raw foods as much as possibe. I would like a source of the internal tonic if anyone knows one.In general I would say that this is not for the faint hearted but it is an amazing experience to watch your body expel these cancers and heal itself. But you have to help it by doing everything possible for your immune system."

I had a history of cervical cancer with two bouts undergoing laser surgery and I took two bottles of the stuff and noticed heavy menstual cycles with seemingly black materials. I returned to the doctors for a schedule for surgery and they told me that there was no sign of the growth. I have been fine for a year now. Later I checked the net on bloodroot and found the fda banned it's use in toothpaste and for cancer; personally it appears that USA is heavily influenced by poilitian money and pharmeceutical money for the products it releases to the public, not off their medicinal merit."

So turns out tha ALL of the spots I was pointing out to them were BCC and I had Moh's surgery on my nose and lip, the other 4 spots were removed totally in the office. The result is a horrible scar that looks like I was attacked with a knife, I guess I actually was in a manor of speaking. It has taken time to get used to it, but everytime someone stares I know they are wondering "what the hell happened to her". I believe the plastic surgeon could have done a better job, but that is another story. On a recheck the dermatologist said that there were 2 additional ones and both biopsied positive for BCC. More Moh's surgery was suggested. This time I decided that I would search for alternatives. I probably got the last container of Cansema from altcancer before they arrested that poor guy. I used the product as directed and sure enough, both sites reacted as described. When using it I also have a "control" area with no blemishes, moles, etc., that I also put the salve and these areas have never reacted. I have used various formulas, all have worked. I have treated myself 10 times on spots that gave me concern due to a change in a mole, scaley spots, etc. I know the first 2 were cancerous and suspect the additional ones that I treated without biopsy were cancerous but will never truely know. Each and every time I was treating a spot, my body reacted with extreme pain, fever, edema and swelling at the site. I had to treat one spot on my face 2x but all the spots on my face healed with very minimal scarring. I treated various spots on my arms and hands. I also had some reffered pain when treating certain spots. But my reason for wanting to caution everyone about the potency and seriousness of treating unknown spots is this. Last year I was treating a mole on my back that was itching and had some changes in appearance. Years before this I had noticed a growing lump in the general vicinity of this mole. This "lump" had grown in the years since discovery, but I had asked doctors about it and they said, do nothing, it is a lipoma. It grew to approx. 5 x 1 " and was like a sausage under the skin. I was concerned about it but figured that it was a lipoma because I have other lumps in other places and had some of them removed. Not really thinking about this "lump" I put the salve on the mole above it and YOWZA, the "lump" reacted violently, and came to the surface, I was incapacitated for 2 months, was in regular contact with the makers of the salve I was using. I was ill to say the least. The pain was intolerable. I had to use pain meds that I had on hand. My family wanted me to go to the doctor, but what could they do? If it was cancer there was no way I was going to let them interrupt the process and I had to assume that it was. I was in mental and physical torment for 60 days. To top it off our daughter was getting married and I had to put it together. I was taking enzymes, AHCC, many other suppliments. So this huge sausage shaped tumor came out, just as the small ones did. Gross is too small of a word to describe it. It left a significant scar on my back and is still healing to this day. To add to this, several months later my brother was diagnosed with a rare benign growth that was IN his spinal cord. It was a 7" long and sausage shaped and he had it was successfully removed. When I was researching it, there is also a form of this growth that when it is outside the spinal cord it is normally a very agressive cancer, but I will never know. Several months ago I treated a spot on my forehead and ankle. The spot on the forhead was small and came out within a week. The one on the leg developed into a quarter size reaction area and it would not heal. After alot of trepidation I went to a dermatologist who cauterized the wound. At first glance he said that it looked like a brown reculse spider bite but when I told him how it got there he didn't have much to say and said that I shouldn't use the product. What else could he say? I don't know what happened with the one on my ankle, but it made me very ill also. I have done alot of reading on black salves and other cancer salves and they have a pretty deep history. Like many I just wish there could be some scientific studies done to see exactly what type of tissue it reacts with. I have read small mention of these type products reacting with tissue infected with fungi, virus and bacteria. I am not really concerned about convincing the established medical community. After the 2 very serious reactions I had, I am more cautious in using it. There is a book called "Cancer Salves" that had led me to a better understanding about cancers in general, but what she says is true...approach these salves with alot of respect and research. NEVER smear an area with the salves just to see if something is there. There seems to be a network that I could never connect to that probably has more help and info on the use of these, but could never find a practitioner in Texas. They all seem to be on the west coast. If there are any homeopaths, ND, etc., in my area I could never find one. Well that is my story on cancer salves. I believe they work, but I also believe that there is more to them and it would be nice if I could get some answers on the reactions that occured on my leg and back. Be totally informed before you use the salves, come to your decision to use it by your research, not on someone elses. And have potent pain meds available. You don't want to get half way into treating one of these and decide you can't take the pain. Good Luck."

[YEA] 06/07/2007: Amanda from Salt Lake City, UT writes: "A note of caution on bloodroot salves--they will effectively remove skin cancers, moles, etc; but I wish I'd consulted a Naturopath or other expert before trying it myself. I used a black Cansema-type salve on some red scaly spots on my hand and arm that were worrying me. Be aware before applying it that it HURTS and burns like crazy when it comes into contact with bad/damaged skin. If you have a number of spots you want to treat, start with the smallest one, rather than doing them all at the same time like I did, which was a big mistake. By the next day, brown scabs had formed, and I applied more of the paste. More pain, of course. A few days later, the scabs started to loosen, and oozed lots of pus-like fluid and debris. It is important not to pick at the scabs or try to pull them out (difficult, if you're an impatient, anxious type of person like me), even though it will itch like crazy and be really inflamed. Eventually, the scabs fell off, but I couldn't tell if the paste had gotten all of the bad cells. Now, the spots where I had applied the paste seem to have healed strangely, and I have several ugly scars that crack and peel, and I don't know what to do about them. So, bloodroot is effective, but if you want to try it, you should talk to an ND or someone who knows about it first."

[YEA] 05/29/2007: Rhonda from San Diego, Ca. writes: "Re: black salve killed malignant melanoma tumors... My brother in law had late stage malignant melanoma that was diagnosed in 2000 and he was given 4-6 months to live prognosis at that time. He had tumors under his Rt. arm that disappeared with diet and herbal treatment. The tumors came back a couple of years ago and grew very quickly to the size of large cantelope. I am a retired RN and did daily dressing changes, using black salve to the tumor sites until they came off in large chunks of necrotic tissue. There were times that I had to forego putting salve on them because of copious bleeding but after 6 months of daily treatment with black salve, the tumors were completely dead. He had to undergo plastic surgery in order to have the necrotic masses and had large skin grafts placed over the site, but to him, it was well worth it because of the disfigurment these large masses caused. John fought a 7 year battle and lived 16 more months after having plastic surgery. He died 3 months ago from metastatic melanoma to the upper and lower bowel. He was a very brave man that was able to say "NO" to the medical profession who wrote him off long ago. I believe that he lived for so long because he never had chemo and radiation treatments that MDs insisted upon and stuck to diet and natural medicine. Anemia is what finally killed him. From the blood feeding all the tumors. He had several transfusions but was having more side effects and fast tumor growth after each of these so stopped them. I have photos of the tumors through various stages of salve use if you want to see them. They are quite remarkable. Not for the weak however."

[MAYBE] 04/28/2007: Mary from Ada, OK writes: "Well I have mixed feelings about Bloodroot. Yes I have seen it remove "so called tumors". I have used it to remove moles, etc, and it did a great job. People told me that it would not react if there was nothing cancerous, but this is not true. It did in fact burn skin which I put it on as an experient. I had this "white head" gland under the skin on my face. I hated it because ever so often it would fill up with a white waxy goo. I wanted to see if I could take that gland out with some bloodroot so I put some on, covered it with a bandaid and within 24 hours, my whole face was swollen, eyes swollen nearly shut. It scared me and was very painful. A few days later a hugh tumor like thing came out, but it was shaped exactly the same shape as where I had put the bloodroot which let me know that it was burning ALL the skin I had put it on and then causing a scab, which some people may be mistakingly calling tumors. Could these hunks of flesh simply be scar tissue from the deep skin burns that bloodroot causes? Well it took out the gland which came loose with the scab, but I mashed aound on the scab that came out, and there was no "tumor", just dead burned skin with an oil gland in the enter. So if there was no skin cancer there to begin with, then why did it burn my skin? Now I had something like a third degree burn on my face that has left a huge scar on my face. It's a raised scar called a keloid, and the pigment is gone too, so if my skin tans, I have this huge white spot on my face. So here's what I say about bloodroot. It may work in some cases, but unless you want a huge scar, think twice about using it, and never use it on your face unless you don't care being called "scarface" for the rest of your life. Aren't there some bonified scientists out there who want to do some testing on this powerful herb?? I mean, come on, where's their sense of adventure? There may not be any money in it, but I've seen people spend small fortunes on less exciting experiments. Someone definately needs to test out this POWERFUL herb and see what it's vices and virtues are, because as I say IT'S A POWERFUL herb. PS: I used it on a cancerous tumor on an elderly cat, and it took the tumor off, but she was dead within a month. Seems like the cancer seems to spread within her quicker. I wonder if it was because I disturbed it with the bloodroot, and didn't get it all. I'll never know. It was worth a try as I didn't have enough money for vet surgery, but she died anyway. So I don't know about this drug. In my opinion much more studying needs to be done. I'm sure Bloodroot is great for certain things, and I certainly don't want to be overly skeptical, but... just so little is known about how to actually harness it's powers. I want it to be the miracle that cancer victims all hope for, but we just don't know for sure yet and well....just proceed with caution. Even natural things can kill if you don't know the correct way to use them."

I used this product on a similar spot on one of my legs about two years ago and it did the same way and healed completely. Although I did not have these spots diagnosed by a doctor, I believe they are cancerous. (My family has had many cases of skin cancer, including melanoma.) I know of several people who have also used this black salve with great success. I would recommend it to anyone. Hey, try it and if it doesn't seem to work, get to a doctor! Cindy"

[NAY] 03/29/2007: Eric from Manvel, Texas writes: "One danger of using bloodroot paste on skin lesions (apart from risks of severe scarring) is that the user has no way of knowing if a tumor has been completely removed. As a pathologist, I know that malignant tumors often spread well beyond what's visible to the naked eye. Incomplete removal with bloodroot could result in extensive tumor spread or metastasis (a PubMed literature search (available online) turns up a number of cases where this has happened).
The aftermath of home use of bloodroot could be extensive surgery, plastic surgery repair and treatment for metastatic cancer. Physicians would prefer not to pursue these costly options, but to take care of the problem right away with simple procedures so that patients do not suffer unnecessarily. Please reconsider your endorsement of bloodroot products, as they are dangerous and ineffective."

"EC: Yes, looking at these photos would scare anyone from using bloodroot! That is exactly what these articles on Quackwatch set out to do -- scare the pants off of people who might be thinking about using traditional herbs. Too bad the (clearly biased) author didn't show a few photos of people using bloodroot who have successfully healed their cancer and skin tumors. These success stories and photographs of the healing process number in the thousands. The photos on that quackwatch page represent your worst case scenario. Why don't they post similar articles when popular medications have nightmarish side effects? Mmmm hmmmmm. They only go after the natural cures and therapies which are neither patentable nor profitable."
06/26/2007: Chandi from Fairbanks, Alaska replies: "I just wanted to respond to the person who posted the link for quackwatch.org. I had a look at those pictures, and the people in the before pictures do not look like the same people posted in the after picture -- Not because of what happened to their face due to whatever it was they did, but because the actual hair and facial features such as eyes, eyebrow shape, chin shape, lip shape, etc do not match up. You don't suppose it's possible that maybe, just maybe those photos might not be of the same person, do you?? Gasp! Of course not, quackwatch would -never- intentionally mislead people to believe they say with falsefied photos! (Note the extreme sarcasm with which this is written.) In any case, I am currently using bloodroot paste that I bought off of eBay on a mole on my arm. I will gladly report back when it's gone through the entire process and let you know how it worked for me."

[YEA] 02/19/2007: Shirl from Lakewood, CO writes: "We learned about blood root, also call Black Salve, through my sister-in-law several years ago. I can't even begin to tell you how pleased my husband is with the results. He's very fair skinned and has always worked outside; now in his late 50's skin cancers were becoming an ongoing, painful, and expensive problem. He had several skin cancers removed by his doctor and all of them left large, painful scars. The black salve removes the cancer completely and, even though it leaves a large hole initially, in our experience this fills in very quickly and leaves almost no visible scar. He has used this on moles everywhere, face, arms, back, neck and the results have always been the same -- the cancer is completely removed. What I find the most amazing about the salve is that if the area is not cancerous then there will be no reaction to the salve. It's hard to find the real stuff, but worth the search!"

I had a very small "molish thing" appear about 8 months ago that didn't feel right. I put the bloodroot paste on for 2 nights in a row last Monday. It did its thing and amazingly, healed completely by day 6 (much faster than my forearm, which took 2 weeks to heal). There is some pink skin in that area now, but the mole is no longer there. I don't even need to cover it up with makeup! I experienced a shooting pain in the area of the application on day 2 through day 3, then nothing. I would trust this stuff more than the dermatologists. I have a friend who has had about 4 surgeries to remove cancerous growths. Before the latest surgery that she had several weeks ago, the surgeon had been telling her for the last year (every time she went for a checkup) that it wasn't melanoma and not to worry, she didn't need it removed. She insisted that he biopsy it nonetheless last month and yep, it turned out to be melanoma. So even the best doctors aren't always right. She's thinking about using bloodroot paste now. In my case, I plan to use bloodroot as a tester on all moles on my body since it is an amazing indicator of cell malignancy."

It is sad that the FDA has become as big a problem as the problems it was designed to stop. There is no doubt 99% of the people that work for the FDA have good intentions, unfortunately the system is broken and many of them are in denial that it is. It is their job we are talking about.
It is my belief that they have gone too far in stopping companies that sell bloodroot from allowing unsolicited testimonials from being posted on the web because it might give people the idea that this stuff actually works...

I developed a 'thing' that at first I thought was a zit that wouldn't go away on my face.... I kinda ignored it for 2 months, until I had to admit the possibility that after 30 years in the Arizona sun, I had skin cancer. Having no health insurance, I researched it online, and ran across the bloodroot paste. I decided to try my own concoction of raw, dried bloodroot, pounded into a fine powder, and mixed with DMSO into a paste. Killed the cancer in the spot on my face in a few days- unfortunately, I let it go long enough, the scar is taking a while to heal, because it had progressed pretty quickly before I took action. Last week, a suspicious spot began forming on my hand- I mixed up my bloodroot/DMSO paste, put it on, covered it with a band-aid; the first day, not much, but the second day, after a fresh application, I began feeling a deep down, creepy crawly itch, and when I took the band-aid off the next day, it was nuked! Bloodroot works, but needs a booster to really get it delivered into the skin- just mixed with water, oil or whatever is a very slow process."

[YEA] 03/30/2006: John from Atlanta, GA writes: "I healed 2 skin tags with bloodroot paste. Around Thanksgiving of '05, I noticed a small skin tag on my cheek, and it began to grow in size. I also discovered another one growing in my scalp near my temple. By Christmas, they both had grown and discolored, one the size of a pea and another the size and height of a dime. Not having medical insurance or much $, I decided to try a bloodroot remedy I read about in a book. After searching online, I purchased a small container of Bla-Cansema Black Salve on Ebay. I applied a thin coat on the pea-sized skin tag following the directions. They did say that I should feel a slight stinging/burning sensation. I became a bit skeptical when I felt nothing from the treatment; but decided to leave the dried coating on the skin tag for few days.
I went about my life forgetting about the bloodroot paste on my cheek until a scab that had formed over the skin tag began to peel off. So I removed it; to my great surprise the most of it was gone! After a second application, the whole skin tag disappeared leaving just a slight discoloration. I next applied an application to the skin tag under my scalp. This one was even easier; it disappeared with one treatment. It has now been over a month, and there is no sign of these skin tags on my face and scalp. This paste cost me little over $40; simple applications with no associated discomfort, side effects or pain. I see why doctors and pharmaceutical companies are worried."

THE FDA AND BLOODROOT
8 YEA
[YEA] 09/06/2007: Trish from Kansas City, MO writes: "This comment is in response to the individual [Edit. Note: See Ally's email below] who mentioned quackwatch.com. Yes, the FDA has not spent any money researching bloodroot because it is a natural substance and is not patentable. Most folks aren't going to spend money researching something if there's not profit to gain, especially organization like the FDA and Big Pharma whose only interests ARE profit, not people. Also, you should go back and notice who operates quackwatch.com. Lo and behold, a medical doctor...someone who probably won't make too much money if he tells his cancer patients to take bloodroot and avoid costly surgery and chemo. He also has the following listed on his site as 'signs' of a 'quacky' website: General Characteristics: Any site used to market herbs or dietary supplements. Although some are useful, I do not believe it is possible to sell them profitably without deception, which typically includes:
(a) lack of full disclosure of relevant facts,
(b) promotion or sale of products that lack a rational use, and/or
(c) failure to provide advice indicating who should not use the products.
During more than 35 years of watching the health marketplace, I have never encountered a seller who did not do at least one of these three things. Any site used to market or promote homeopathic products. No such products have been proven effective.
Any site that generally promotes "alternative," "complementary," and/or "integrative" methods. There are more than a thousand such methods. The vast majority are worthless.
Any site that promotes "nontoxic," "natural," "holistic," or "miraculous" treatments.
So EarthClinic.com is now a 'quacky' website?? I think not! No disrespect to nay-sayers or doctors...but I can tell you for several years I have dealt with chronic constipation, severe acid reflux and heartburn, depression, insomnia, acne, and the list goes on....I went to several doctors, had several cameras inserted through just about every hole in my body and was constantly sent home with a prescription or the threat of a future surgery. I had mentioned on more than one occasion to my doctor about possibly getting colonics done, after reading about how insanely importantly it is to keep your intestines and colon clean as they are a major govern in your immune system. I was told that colonics are dangerous. I have been getting them done for over a year now and my health has never been better. No acid reflux, skin is remarkably better, no depression, and so on. Oh, and for the record...those of you who go to WebMD for advice as well, that site is a marketing tool for BigPharma."

The woman that answered the phone told me what to purchase. I never did buy the medicine at that time because my friend wasn't sure he wanted it. Later on he finally did tell me to go ahead and order it for him. When I called to order I was told that they didn't have any products left because the FDA raided their store and took all their products with them when they left and they also put the herbalist in jail. Another thing about this story you have never been told yet is that this Alfa Omega store was in the Bahamas' NOT here in America. They raided his business with guns drawn. I've also heard they've done this to other places that sold natural products. As far as the Alfa Omega web site now that's here in the U.S. You think the FDA is there to protect us then think again. The drugs they sell kill more people then and kind of illness. And they are also controlled by the Mafia. Here's a web site to check it out. http://educate-yourself.org The FDA has also threatened the guy that had this web site about his products too. The FDA also controls our government. I know this sounds like a horror story and it really is. Here's another web site you can look up: www.newswithviews.com
Earthclinic, Please don't use my last name when you put this on your web site. If anyone wants to ak me something they can ask from your web site like i've noticed others doing. Thank you for letting me spout add my 2 cents worth because when i here or read about people being put down for being willing to help others with products that really do cure people of whatever ails them it really makes me angry. As far as the FDA they haven't been testing their new drug for being safe in years, we're just their little guinea pigs."
[YEA]03/11/2007: Net from Middle of the Mitten, Michigan replies: "I found this reason: 'In 2004, Gregory James Caton, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was sentenced to 33 months imprisonment to be followed by 3 years supervised release for marketing several products with claims that they could cure cancer and other diseases. Court documents indicate that from 1999 to 2003, doing business as Alpha Omega Labs, Caton and his employees sold Cancema Tonic III (a purported cancer cure) and H3O (claimed to be effective against athlete's foot, cuts and burns, eczema, fingernail fungus, chronic gas, gastroenteritis, gingivitis and periodontal disease, halitosis, herpes sores, ophthalmia, psoriasis, sore throat, strep throat, and wounds). [YEA] 02/06/2007: David from Charleroi, PA writes: "Blood Root Salve. You asked why the producer of Bloodroot was thrown in jail. You can NOT claim to cure, treat or diagnose any disease, or you are practicing medicine without a licence. It is the law. You can NOT distribute any such substance, making such a claim either. A doctor can NOT use a remedy that is not approved by the FDA. If you tell your doctor you are using Blood Root, he will not stop you, for fear it may actually work. The FDA will NOT approve a "drug" that is not patentable. No natural substance can be patentable. Bloodroot is a "natural substance". Therefore the FDA will never approve it for anything. There will NEVER be enough 'scientific research' for Blood Root. Because no one will ever pay the millions required for the "approved research". Some say in the USA we live in the land of the Free. This is not so when it comes to medicine or your health. Our only hope is that Sites like this remain open to the public. I pray to God that you remain open. Bless you."
