Yeast Infection Cures

DON'T DOUCHE

01/15/2008: Cal from Topeka, KS writes: "All throughout this article, women are douching to help rid themselves of yeast infections. This is ridiculous. Flushing water or anything else into the vagina will do nothing but force the bad bacteria further into the uterus, which can lead to worse complications. If you want to help yourself, take a daily probiotic and drink lots of water."

GARLIC

7 YEA

[YEA]  06/10/2008: Justine from Edmonton, Canada writes: "Hello! I'd like to say that after 6+ yeast infections/year, I went off my birth control pill, and it helped a lot (cut my infection rate in half)! Secondly, the acidophilus and garlic suppositories (pessaries for those in the UK) are really, really effective at reducing itching etc. Especially more so that diflucan or OTC treatments. I will try the boric acid with my next infection, but rest assured, some natural help is out there (and on this page!!) Thanks."

[YEA]  01/25/2007: Monica from Winter Park, FL writes: "Clove of garlic works wonders for yeast infections! After inserting 2 small cloves of garlic into the vagina, the itching stopped in about 20 minutes! This was during the day...and no, I do not smell like a pizza. At night, I use the 3 day Monistat. I'm on the second day, and all the symptoms are beginning to subside. I really enjoy your website, and it is very informative. Thanks for the home remedies!!!"

[YEA]  06/13/2006: Yasser from St. Louis, MO writes: "I really was waiting to hear about garlic. it's really indefatigable yeast enemy. I'm really improving with it. i did discover I had loads of yeast infections this month, I have about 50 bad symptoms now. its death experience for me. so I'm starting a war of education toward these infections. I'm amazed as i read now how approach to one matter could be different. I'm covering piece of my mouth now on how hard and easy this battle seems to be, I will write more soon about my symptoms that it also had great deal with skin fungus that fed from inside and outside (running on burning sand on summer). and the eastern remedies (by the way I'm from alexandria egypt) I relieved with, I appreciate the writers and the website for the great systems of research."

[YEA]  05/15/2006: Dot from Buffalo, NY writes: "I too have been suffering from yeast infections for almost a year now. The one time pill does not even touch it. After a morning of burning and itching I thought I would give the garlic clove treatment a try. Within about 15 minutes the burning sensation stopped. I will continue using it for a few days. I know what you all are going thru. It effects your whole self-being. No one can relate until they have gone thru it. I will be stopping at the pharmacy today for my 1000 mg garlic tabs. Thanks for the self-help tips. The doctor couldn't even help me."

[YEA]  01/24/2006: Lizzy from Manchester, UK writes: "Hey everyone! Just thought i'd write to tell you my experiences with yeast infections. I have had recurrent infections for over a year, it would start 4 or days after my period and stay until 3 or 4 days before my period . it was living hell and it was effecting me sexual, financial (over the counter treatment is expensive!!) and my over all mood was low. The worst part was my doc kept sayin "these things happen" she just didn't seem to understand how much yeast infection were effecting me. I honestly didn't know what to do, i had tried yogurt but that only seemed to calm the symptoms temporarily, i washed with a few drops of tea tree oil in a pint of water daily but again it just seemed take the initial itch and soreness away then I read somewhere about garlic and it has changed my life! I started takin 1000 mg a day three months ago and haven't had thrush since (touch wood!) Garlic IS a miracle, i swear by it!!"

[YEA]  Cynthia from Miami, FL writes: "Well, I am a firm believer in garlic, and did some research on Garlic oil Capsules. Little did I know, Garlic was great for just about anything wrong with you. And for some reason I had a bad yeast infection and decided to try garlic as a cure, instead of an OTC. I inserted 1 capsule @ night, until a day after symptoms were gone. And I have been a happy camper since. (Get the softgel capsules because they dissolve)."

GIVING UP THE PILL

2 YEA

[YEA]  01/10/2008: Catherine from St. John, BC writes: "For about 3 years I was having the worst yeast infections ever. They would be ok for one week out of a month, but that was not good enough to feel good about myself. I discovered after seeing many doctors, using and taking many diferent things that once I quit using the birth control pill that after a month or so I was totally cured! I now feel great about myself and am not in so much discomfort..."

[YEA]  12/18/2006: Sara from Toronto writes: "Giving up the contraceptive pill stopped repeated candida / vaginal infections. I had repeated vaginal infection's with vulva soreness for two year's . I was put on liver destroying diflucan on repeat prescription and told i had candida or non specific (we don't know what this is !) Vaginitis. I also had to repeatedly use pessaries that now five years later has let to a prolapsed bladder (the connective tissues were locally very damaged by these products). Anyway, one week i gave up my pill as things were so painful i wasn't having sex. Within two week's the infection was gone never to return."

HONEY, YOGURT, APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, GARLIC

1 MAYBE

[MAYBE]  05/24/2008: MayBelle from Hudson, NH writes: "I am trying this remedy for a yeast infection it is done in 4 parts:

1st: I applied Raw natural honey (not store bought) let it sit and then rinsed it off.
2nd: I put plain yogurt in an applicator but it must have NO sugar and have live active cultures. I left that in my vagina for at least one hour.
3rd: I douched with raw apple cider vinegar and water 1tbsp per 1 liter
Finally: placed the clove of Garlic mentioned here.

My friend told me that this remedy works fast.. So Since OTC doesn't work I figured I had nothing to loose. I am on the last step and I do have to tell you already feel so much better... "

[YEA]  11/13/2007: V from Panama, Florida writes: "I don't normally give comments back, but I am going to this time. I have had a yeast infection or BV for 4 days and thinking yeast first, I treated it with Monostat 1. It did not work, on the 4th day I was more miserable than I was on day one. I do not know how ladies put up with such a nasty condition for so long. Anyway, I dislike going to the doctors very much. I found this site and read your antidotes, then I found a medical site that backed the information about using a certain kind (that most people do not have) of H202 internally. I only have the 3% at home and that is what I used. The medical site does not recommend it for internal use. I do not own a baster or anything else like that. I used a tampon which I tried to soak with a solution of 50% bottled water and 50% H202, but I found it expanded too much in the applicator. In my frustration, I removed the tampon from the applicator and drenched it with straight H202 and used my fingers to push it up into my vaginal cavity. It was messy and a lot of liquid just came dripping back out. I also took paper towels and soaked them in staight H202 and methodically cleaned the entire external area from inside thigh to inside thigh and from start of pubic hair well past the anal opening. I let myself air dry then put on clean cotten underwear with a pad, and went to make a phone call, I talked for 67 minutes. During that time expanse there was a bit of a warm sensation that I felt and a bit of pain (like a cramping pain). After my call was over, I pulled the tampon out, then I literally dumped some more H202 over the entire external area and left myself air dry again. I woke this morning and have checked 3 times so far. No external cheesy stuff, no internal excessive white stuff, no musky smell, and I am pink again. I am going to the store to get some folic acid today also, but I did want to let you know of my success. P.S. I already eat Breyers probiotic yogurt daily regardless of state of health."

[YEA]  08/09/2007: reina (klodian31@hotmail.com) from orlando, US writes: "I started having a terrible itching two days ago. This had never happened to me so I didn't know where it came from, especially now that I am on a good diet. It may have been the bath that I took, and many other things. Anyway, the itching started being unbearable, last night I couldn't sleep at all so I started reading the cures on these site. I did the folic acid, garlic softgel and hydrogen peroxide. The itching really as subsided. Hopefully it goes all away. The hydrogen peroxide seemed to help a lot."

[YEA]  07/27/2007: Veronica from Toronto, Cananda writes: "Honestly for all you ladies you have yeast infections hydrogen peroxide does the trick - for me in a single dose! I googled natural remedies and was told about mixing 1 tablespoon per cup. I used two cups [of water] with 2 tablespoons [of h202] and a turkey baster to get it in there. Relief was immediate and my symptoms are gone after only ONE use! I will never use anyting else but this EVER again. If I had the power to gurarentee it I would! I LOVE hydrogen peroxide and am learning just how effective it is for many ailments!"

LIFESTYLE SUGGESTIONS

1 YEA

[YEA]  07/23/2007: Jay from Jackson, MS writes: "I have very sensitive skin, so condoms, dryer sheets, and of course antibiotics can bring on a yeast infection. Step one is to avoid condoms and spermicide (for me) and using dryer sheets, particularly on underwear or athletic clothing that is close to the skin. To treat, I have had great success with bathing in lemon or lime water. This is probably more gentle than apple cider vinegar. Yeast needs a basic enviroment to live, and a healthy vagina is slightly acidic, so you want to return your environment gradually and gently to normal. Also - sperm is basic, so wash thoroughly after sexual activity to avoid creating a "good home" for excessive bacteria or yeast. There are also antifungal natural ear drops that are a little better than using a strong chemical treatment that you could try. For bacteria, I find that eating yogurt and probiotics during antibiotic courses, garlic, and avoiding triggers like dryer sheets helps as well. Hope this helps someone out there!"

MONISTAT REACTIONS

06/03/2006: Shell from Illinois writes: "I used Monostat 7 and it made my symptoms worse. The burn and itch increased and I was about to go out of my mind. The next morning things were swollen and they weren't previous to the treatment of Monistat 7. I just got through drinking the apple cider vinegar and water. Now I am waiting to see if it works. If nothing else I am glad to know that there is alternatives to the messy and nasty creams."
