03/24/2011: Justcallmedd from St. George, Ut writes: "I am hoping someone can clear something up for me. I have read numerous posts here about yeast infections and 'cures'. I thought that a yeast infection (vaginal or not) was a systemic issue and something that takes a long while to get rid of. Most of the U. S. population has yeast issues simply due to the sugar that is abundant in EVERYTHING we eat, right? So does the Apple Cider Vinegar that you all talk about cure the systemic problem or is it for "localized" yeast infections?? Please help I need clarification so I know if this protocal is going to help since I have no symptoms of vaginal yeast-but certainty of systemic yeast infection...thanks"
Replies03/25/2011: Esprit64 from North Yarmouth, Maine Usa replies: "Regardless of anything wrong with you, there are two keys to success: #1. Keep your body alkaline; #2. Make sure, either through good diet, good foot choices, supplements, etc. , that you are getting complete nutrition. If the body doesn't get the fuel it needs to work, it tries to keep up, but eventually gives out and creates disease. By keeping the body environment in optimum alkalinity, you further support good health. My yeast (Candida overgrowth) problems manifest as mouth thrush, skin rashes and vaginal rashes. Coconut oil, used as oil pulling, ingested as 1 Tbsp/3x daily, and used topically (underarms and vaginal area) has been instrumental in stopping my problems and preventing them from occurring again. I have also used washes of 50/50 apple cider vinegar and water and baking soda paste (baking soda mixed with some water to make a paste).
If you've never suffered a vaginal rash problem, it is the worst itching/knife stabbing experience, very, very uncomfortable. So, to answer your question, give your body what it needs for its immune system to heal you."
03/26/2011: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "Justcallmedd - re yeast infections, I have been reading up on other problems and came across some very interesting information. One article that I read said people are getting more yeast infections because of the way our food is prepared these days. For example milk these days is pasteurised which means it has been heated (and that kills off the good bacteria in the gut). This causes people to have problems digesting milk.
Also most water is chlorinated. If people drink it straight away (and do not leave the water sit for about 20 minutes for the chlorine to dissipate) it also kills off the good bacteria in the gut.
Thirdly the way that bread products are prepared these days is very bad for your gut. Most bread is not allowed enough time to "prove" so it ends up fermenting in your stomach. Without proper digestive juices it causes problems with digestion as well.
Apple cider vinegar is a fermented product. It has many good things about it re vitamins and minerals but one of the good things about it is that being a fermented product adds back good bacteria into your stomach. If you have extra sugar they end up being eaten by the good bacteria.
The more I read the more I think we need to eat more fermented products so that our digestive tracts can be repaired. Kifir, fermented vegetables, apple cider vinegar are all good. Even yoghurt and probiotics are good.
I have also found a wonderful homemade receipe for a bread that is simple but it is made with a fermented process. Even celiacs can eat this bread.
An alkaline body is what your body needs but the yeast infections are a result of your body's inability to digest food properly.
If you google fermented foods and their benefits you will get heaps of info. Apple Cider Vinegar is a great start."
03/26/2011: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "I meant to say above that milk is pasteurised these days (which means it is heated) and that kills off the enzymes in the milk which help digestion. If digestion is not working properly the body becomes toxic and the toxins wreak havoc in the body.Processed foods, table salt, and preservatives do not help your digestion and if your body is toxic just exacerbate the problems. I have read that eczema is also a digestion issue - toxins getting out via skin.
This is just my opinion but wanted to share in case it reasonates with anyone. I am going to make some fermented veggies in the next week or so and ferment some green coconut milk with kifir to drink.
Cheers & good health"

01/04/2011: Lauren from Indianapolis, In. writes: "I have been struggling with a vaginal yeast infection for about the last three months. Itchiness, yeasty smelling discharge, extreme crankiness. Let me tell you, it has been dominating my life, it is all I have been able to think about, and has been making me want to pull my hair out with frustration. I went to the doctor... Twice... The first time, she's like, "yup, you definitely have yeast! " No kidding right? So she prescribes me diflucan and a three day course of terconazole. The diflucan did nothing. The terconazole wasn't much better. I tried a few natural remedies, tea tree oil on a tampon, garlic oil on a tampon, yogurt, probiotics, I stopped eating bread and sugars, caffine, etc. Nothing was working. I went back to the doctor for the second time. This time she takes a culture and prescribes me a seven day treatment of the terconazole. This seems to work for the first few days, but then it comes right back as bad as ever. She then prescribes me two weeks of ketaconazole. This is about as effective as the diflucan. After calling and talking to the doctor again, she said the culture came back as being a different form of candida (not albicans), and that she wanted to put me on two weeks of the terconazole. However, my insurance would not pay for any more terconazole since apparently I had already gotten the amount they felt I should need. Lol.
I tried the garlic suppositories at this point because I was at my wits end. It seemed to help some, and alleviated some of the itching. Still not gone though. So last night in the shower I squirted some diluted ACV up there, and a strange whitish mucuous-like discharge came out. Today I am less itchy and no yeasty discharge. Hooray! I also started taking a supplement last night which has a lot of natural herbal ingredients which help with candida as well as giving you some probiotic support. I don't know if that is also part of what is helping, but I do think the ACV helped."
Replies06/07/2011: Becca from Atlanta, Ga, Usa replies: "I have had reoccurent yeast infections for the last 7 years due to intercourse. I've had my latest for over 3 weeks now and have gone through several treatments (Diflucan, tetra... , monistat, gynolotramin, etc. ). I read on this site (and a few others) regarding Apple Cider Vinegar. I bought some at Walmart, just the regular Heinz Apple Cider Vinegar and have been debating on using it. I read some where of some one using a small amount on a Q-tip. Since I am going back to the doctor tomorrow, I decided to try it. I dipped a Q-tip into the vinegar and then swiped it along the outside and inside of my vagina tissues. It stung at first, not so much as burning, but stinging. That I wasn't surprised about. What I was surprised about was everything ON THE Q-TIP. It looked like it had thousands of little white crumbs, about the size of a seseme seed, on it. It had to be the yeast cultures. Honestly it was the most digusting thing I have ever seen in my life. I did it about 10 minutes ago and I don't feel different physically, but emotionally I do feel better. Just to have that off of me....ewwwww.I am going to try the bath or even a soaked tampon. I just have to get the courage up. I'll let ya'll know how it goes."
[YEA] 06/23/2011: Becca from Atlanta, Ga, Usa replies: "I used the Q-Tip and ACV a few more times that evening and again the next morning. By the time I went to the doctor at 10:00 my yeast infection had COMPLETELY cleared up. I told the doctor about what I had done, and though she said that she wouldn't recommend it, she'd heard of several people doing it and it correctly the problem within 24 hrs. I feel so much better now!!!"
10/22/2011: Cole from Cali, Colombia replies: "My girlfriend has yeast infection and subsequently I got it from her. She isn't good at taking remedies nor medication and since she doesn't live with me, it is hard for me to control things. So this week I got an infection between scrotum and leg so I tried something new. I have BABA DE CARACOL or snail slime. Used it once yesterday and today forgot about it. I went just now to check and put more slime. It is now completely gone. Also Snail oil is good for burns and if applied will not leave a scar on 2nd degree burns. I don't know how it works on 3rd degree burns but should fair better than regular remedies or medication. It is easy to come by here in Colombia. So 1 YEA for SNAIL SLIME. it kills yeast fast and furiously."

[YEA] 06/19/2010: Katie from Austin, Tx writes: "ACV ROCKS its a YEA for me. Ok ladies, I have had a yeast infection that lasted about 5 weeks, went away, then came back with the same vengeance 2 1/2 weeks later. My yeast infection was spread through my legs, lower back, belly and of course entire vaginal/anal area.It was red, swollen and so itchy i wanted to itch my skin off. It was MISERABLE. Went to the doctor (stupid quack) and she just gave me Nystatin twice. and mine was so bad!!! she just acted like it was not big deal. anyways thank god for this site. Heres what I did:
first of all, an ice pack does help
Acidophilus (3 pills at a time 2-3 times a day with meal).
Swallowed two cloves of garlic a day ( tea or crush it or chop it up like pills and swallow with water).
ACV bath with 1 and 1/2 cups ACV and luke warm water once a day for first 2 days(or to soothe irritation when needed)for about 20-25 min.
Douche with 2 tblspns of ACV and 1-1 1/2 cups water (internally it wasnt that bad for me)-this stung just a tiny bit for a few minutes and it was my first douche. I would do this twice a day for a week to be sure.
2 tbsps of ACV with water once a day.
ACV on cotton balls applied directly to rash whenever irritated(it stings a minute but it is WORTH IT just gradually start with the bikini line and see what you can handle, it helps SOOOO much on legs too)
I also after making sure i was CLEAN AND DRY down there applied desitin to keep it dry while i was at work. (desitin seals out moisture) this helped me get through my the first two days.
I started with all of this 2 1/2 days ago, and it immediately gave me temperary relief right away,70% relief after the first day and 90-95% the second. I will continue all these things for at least a week to be sure my body is back in balance. If yours was as bad as mine it is so important to continue treatment internally (digestive or whatever) for a few weeks to make sure it stays gone. I will continue taking acidopholis regularly from now on. "
[YEA] 09/22/2011: Hannah from Plymouth, Uk replies: "I have been plagued for 2 years by the menace that is recurrent yeast infections. I had been clear for 7 months, but after a recent course of antibiotics it returned two days ago with a vengance. I did the usual OTC treatments and as per usual nothing. By last night I was ready to do some serious damage to myself. So my four hours of research into the early hours and finding this site has been rewarded. I ran down to my local health store first thing this morning, bought some ACV and hey presto! Itching massively reduced in just 20 mins. I also bought some acidophilus and other suppliments so fingers crossed it will go and stay away this time.We think my boyfriend carries it as I never had it before being with him but he is always asymptomatic, and all the GYN tests are always negative for him and have only ever found it on me onece so I plan to introduce him to ACV in his water and the probiotics too. Will keep you updated. Thanks again."
10/05/2011: Something Better from Flanders, Nj, Usa replies: "I had a yeast infection that persisted for 2 months. I couldn't understand why I got it because I didn't have any of the risk factors except for stress which completely undermined my immune system. I have to say that I tried everything--and finally when I started taking large doses of garlic tablets, my symptoms subsided and when I got better I stopped taking them. My symptoms came back with a vengeance. I had persistent almost unrelieved itch for over 2 weeks, although I had the intermittent itch for 2 months. I was crying it was so bad. The only thing that really helped was the ACV douche and bath. I had been douching with garlic and baking soda for almost 3 weeks until I read about the ACV, which I did twice a day for a week, and also ACV baths in between to help with the itch. It took about 45 minutes of sitting in the bath for the itching to subside. I didn't sleep for 2 months because of the itch and had to get up several times a night to bathe. I finally went to the doctor and got the fluconazole 150mg dose which didn't touch my symptoms, along with an antifungal/steroid cream for the itch which also did nothing. I was tired of the baths, the sleepless nights. I was back on megadoses of garlic, oregano oil, 3 types of probiotics, candidase, parasite cleanse capsules, a total vegetarian candida diet and even the ACV baths did not completely relieve me.Finally, I got the book "Who Killed Candida?" and started to follow the program outlined within. It works! Get the book!!!! It's a lifestyle change which includes walking everyday before 7am and going to bed early. I was too weak and tired and ITCHY to walk, but I made myself get up and do it because I was so desperate and each day got stronger and stronger and the itch got less and less, especially after walking. I also did the garlic tampon--just a clove of garlic slathered in vitamin e oil inserted into my vagina every night for 7 nights which controlled the itch the best. I also have been doing contrast showers--3 minutes hot and 30seconds of cold water X3 every day to my vagina which creates almost an unbearable tingling sensation with all the blood rushing to the area, but subsides after 1 hour. After just 7 days of doing the program, I am virtually symptom free!!! You need the strongest garlic capsules--Kyolic to help restore your immunity, and I am doing 8 capsules a day. NOTHING has worked as well as the lifestyle program. NOTHING. The supplements alone will not do it. You need to do the whole program to rebuild your body's immune system to help you fight this stubborn mutating yeast. Few doctors will tell you this, but this is what worked for me!!!"

[YEA] 02/06/2010: J from Sf, Ca writes: "Okay, so I really do struggle with yeast infections pretty frequently. The things I have found most helpful are Apple Cider Vinegar (douching) and Boric Acid powder in capsules. There used to be a natural product that used boric acid for yeast infections but then they re-formulated it and since they brought the boric acid powder content way down, it doesn't work for me at all. I'm afraid to mention a product name because I think it says not to do that. Anyway, it's clear to me from what I read here that the people for who ACV did not work at all are dealing with something other than a yeast infection. Yeast is not a bacteria, it's a fungus. You don't take anti-biotics for it, in fact they cause yeast. Diflucan is prescribed for yeast infections and it's not an anti-biotic. Bacteria Vaginitis, however, is a bacterial infection and they do prescribe anti-biotics for it. I'm still suffering with my current yeast infection but the ACV is really making a huge difference. It's strange to me that some people find yeast infections very painful. It just itches like crazy, makes me crazy, and makes me want to do crazy things like pull my hair out or run through a brick wall or scream at a pharmacy clerk until she might cry (did that today, not proud of it). I'm just glad my 2 year old and I survived the day. I'm putting her off on my husband as soon as he gets home. Anyway, I'm going to do some more douching with the ACV or maybe I'll try a bath. By the way, I also shoved garlic up there, it gave some temporary relief but very temporary. No immediate help from acidopholus in any form but I think it tends to help prevent them. I also have to stay away from my antacids, combined with PMS, my period, or sex they cause yeast infections. YEA on ACV"
Replies[YEA] 02/17/2010: S from Tucson, Az replies: "ACV douching also works well for anal yeast infections. 1 tbsp in 1 cup water once per day for a week or so and the infection was gone! Took care of a recurring anal yeast infection that fluconazole wouldn't kill."
08/31/2011: Anniern from Gill, Massachusetts replies: "After reading many of these posts about yeast infections and cider vinegar, I think it's important for someone to point out that while diet is important and maintaining an alkaline environment in the body is important too, the reason the vinegar works is because the vagina itself is not alkaline at all. The vinegar helps restore the balance of the naturally acidic conditions in that region."

So far I have had 4 this year and the only comfort I have found for them was cranberry pills and tons of water. I figured that once I had her the yeast infections would go away but they did not. Right now I have one that just started yesterday. I usually be in so much pain and itchy I decided I had to find a better remedy as the cranberry pills took a few days to work. I just now heard of the Apple Cider Vinegar remedy and luckily my mom bought a whole bottle of it a while back. It's never even been opened. I just tried dipping a q-tip in some diluted apple cider vingear and it does burn a little but already just about 3 minutes in I can feel it slowly fading away. I do intend on taking an ACV bath and soaking for a while. I will update and let everyone know how fast it goes away. This remedy came just in time, I thought it was going to ruin my New Year ;D."

But if there are any out there reading this (because I was) I got a yeast infection from antibiotics and found ACV to be a huge help. However, make sure it is EXTREMELY dilluted as it will burn and eat through a layer of skin if you apply it directly. Diluted in water and soaking or mixing a few drops with ointment is super effective."

[YEA] 12/14/2009: Jenn from Queens, Ny writes: "THANK GOD FOR THIS SITE!!!!!!!! Im 28 yrs old and I found this site about a week ago in search of relief for a yeast infection. Sorry if this is TMI, but if this helps another person then so be it!...I had extreme itching accompanied by sore rawness after that would just not go away. This went on for about 3-4 days progressivly getting worse. I used OTC Monistat 'one day treatment' that is supposed to be cleaner, faster working, and all together conveient, hense the title. Well i had relief, but only for 'ONE DAY'! The next morning I woke up itching again, so I googled the heck out of finding a natural remedy and found this amazing site.
I chose to try the ACV that the site recommended and just picked it up at my local grocery store.I also picked up a bottle of Acidophilis capsules. The first night I honestly didnt even measure the first amount of ACV i diluted in a glass of water, as I was just desperate for something to work. Then I took a Acidophilis capsule following the drink. Maybe it was just mentally expecting a difference but within about 30 minutes I felt like the itching decreased. So I drank another glass of AVC (minus the acidophilis) before bed (this time i measured about 2 tbsp in 8-10oz water)and by morning I was still slightly itchy but had decreased about 85%! On a side note my menstral cycle had been extremly off for a few months, as this had been a high stress year for me, but my last period was in mid October. Well that day, mid afternoon I began spotting. Did I kill 2 birds with one stone? lol...Now I don't know if the AVC induced my period or if I got it reguardless, but I will say that when I was a few hours late of taking my ACV I began to feel 'itchy' again, as I was taking the same dose (2 tbsp ACV in 8-10 oz water) once nightly.
It has been almost a week of the regimen Ive been using and had had my period full blown for about 4-5 days now. I am almost 100 % comfortable, but the very minor itching can also be caused by the blood alone...I will definatly keep you posted. I am now a believer in ACV! It has also regulated my BM's too...I never realized how good ACV was good for you..if you look at other ailments on this site you'll find ACV pops up quite a bit as a #1 remedy!

I do know that Apple Cider Vinegar works very well for sinus problems, and I don't doubt that it is wonderful for so many other ailments; however, you did take a 1-day Monistat treatment. If you read the insert for information you would see that it takes up to 7 days for the medicine to work. So, for you, it could have been the Monistat that helped your yeast infection--in your case. I'm not saying Apple Cider Vinegar doesn't work. This is just a FYI if you ever visit this site again! Thanks."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 10/01/2009: Sheila from New York, Ny writes: "Apple Cider Vinegar for Bacterial Vaginosis and Yeast Infection
I have been suffering with some sort of vaginitis for the past 3 or 4 months. At first, I had itching and a fishy discharge and it seemed like Bacterial Vaginosis. I started taking P. Reuteri probiotic capsules and it seemed to go away but after sex it always came back. After that I tried taking folic acid. The smell went away but the itching was worse than ever and my vagina was red and irritated.I then tried golden seal suppositories at night while taking golden seal and garlic capsules orally. The itching and redness were worse than EVER. At this point, it was starting to look like I actually had a yeast infection, but I had no cottage cheese discharge. After reading the entries here on yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis I noticed that Apple Cider Vinegar was used to treat both, so I bought unfiltered apple cider vinegar (with the mother) and I folded 2 paper towels together to use them as a rag. I put warm water on them and poured about 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and put it on my vagina. I left it there for about 2 minutes but I noticed it wasn't burning or stinging so I thought it wasn't working. I added about 2 more tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and it still wasn't stinging, but I still kept the rag on for about 2 more minutes. It didn't help right away but about 5 minutes later, I'm sitting at my desk typing this up and I am finally ITCH FREE! The redness has also decreased. I am so happy to finally get rid of this! I'm also going to start taking the apple cider vinegar orally in a glass of water before bed. Just wanted to say that if your symptoms are ambiguous and you aren't really sure if you have a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis, it's a really good idea to try the apple cider vinegar, because people with both types of infections have seen results. You have nothing to lose !Good luck everyone! Don't give up!"

Because of an Existing liver problem(inflammation) yeast was very difficult for me to get rid of no matter what I did. I kept praying to find a natural solution that is fast acting. Looking for a solution for the liver problem I read about using raw potato juice on this site. Here is the recipe:
3-4 uncooked (raw) medium potatoes
First off ensure potatoes are mature by giving the skin a "dig" with your fingernail or a knife to ensure there is no tinge of green under the skin (this green stuff is toxic I understand). DON'T PEEL THE POTATOES. Scrub the skin well to remove any embedded dirt. If you've got a juicer Cut up and juice, OR grate on a kitchen grater, collect grated potato in bowl. Get a clean kitchen towel and put Grated potato in towel and squeeze contents over empty bowl to collect juice. Pour into glass (I used an 8ounce )add a little water to dilute, just a bit, and sweeten with some honey to make more pleasant to drink. Take this on an empty stomach and don't eat anything for at least one hour after.
I did this first thing on a morning for 3 mornings, and it was my husband who alerted me to the fact the yeast was gone as I had kept reinfecting him every time. This is since early December and no sign of yeast. I stopped using the potato after this and still no sign of yeast. Thank God. It worked really fast and well and seems to be permanent."

But I couldnt take it! It was driving me absolutely mad!!! Normally every month before my period I get some sort of vaginosis.. Im sure my hormones throw it off. ive noticed the past few months its been really bad, since I gained weight.
anyhow.. tonight I grabbed a clean rag, dumped about 3 tbsps of Apple Cider Vinegar on it, ran water on it, and put it against my vagina. I felt a little bit of relief after a few mins.. but after about 5 mins, I thought I would try again with more acv.
after about a minute, it started to super sting. I suffered through it for another minute or two.. Removed the rag.. And theres no more itch. Thank heavens. I think I can go to sleep now."

[YEA] 06/23/2009: Michelle from Glen St Mary, Florida writes: "Hello, Ladies. All my life I have been cursed with yeast infections. I have literally tried everything from RX to Home remedies. Until today I had never tried the ACV, O My God!!! It really works. I took a cotton ball and soaked it with ACV and then applied it to my lady parts. It burns like hell for a minute, but after that first minute the itching and burning stopped. Later the same day when I had time I made a sitz bath with ACV and water and soaked for 20-30 minutes. Already feeling much better. Thank You Earth Clinic!!! I will never forget this Home remedy (EVER)!!! Your website is the BEST!"

[YEA] 06/16/2009: Brigitte from Evanston, IL writes: "Hello, ladies! The apple cider vinegar does work better than or at least as well as over the counter remedies. I was taking antibiotics and became itchy and irritated in the vulva area. My external vagina was extremely sensitive and was so raw in between the folds of skin that rubbing it with a cotton swab actually produced a bit of blood! I was mortified at the sight of that and instantly had the creeps. I'd already been reading about acv and it's health benefits so I decided to give it a try. I just dipped the tip of a cotton swab into the vinegar and dabbed it directly on the irritated skin. It burned like crazy for a few moments but then quickly subsided, within a few minutes I felt relief! Less itching and irritation. Later on that evening I did it again after my shower. The next morning when I wiped myself I was 95 percent better! No itching, no discomfort NO drops of blood. I decided to do it one more time just to be certain that it was gone and walla! I only used the Q-tip dipped in apple cider vinegar with no dilution! That may be a bit too harsh for most women so I recommend that they dilute with a bit of water. I'm sure that it will still have the same benefits in a weaker version. Thanks to all the people who took time to post result and testimonies! That is always appreciated by those that are indecisive about trying home remedies. I'm totally satisfied with my results and have now encouraged my daughter to try it. If it works for her then I will post again. Here's to a happy and healthy vagina!"

[YEA] 09/23/2010: Supermom from Rathdrum, Idaho replies: "I got my first yeast infection a month ago and went right down to the drugstore for the "one day treatment. " It got rid of my yeast infection all right- but It gave me the worst cramps I've ever had and I sufferred some intense nausea. Was it worth it? Heck yeah! I think we can all relate to wanting to grind up on some sandpaper and not being able to! LOL- anyhow, this dreaded curse has returned so I tried the Apple Cider Vinegar. I took a bath first, then when I got out I locked the bathroom door, laid down on a towel and basically just doused my goods with the vinegar. I did not dilute- I just wanted to get straight to the issue! Boy- it BURNED, but only for about 30 seconds, after that I felt an almost soothing warmth. I will keep it up for a few days to make sure I've killed it and not just angered it. But so far, so good! Keeping my fingers crossed. Feeling human again right now :)"

[YEA] 06/04/2009: Jamie from Dallas, Texas writes: "hey girls. Yeah so yeast infections must be the worst thing ever, I have never felt so uncomfortable in my life. Mine have always been medication induced after being on prescriptions. This last one I have had for over a month. I got it right after my period, and it took me a few days to realize what it was for sure partly because I had just shaved down there and thought maybe it was just irritated. Anyway I got on a prescription, which last time took over 8 pills to make go away. This time I felt little change on the 2 pills I took. I hate the over the counter creams so I didnt even go that route after my past experiences with them ( not working, burning worse than the actual infection). So after suffering for weeks, I have been online for hours a day, on every website. I tried yogart, both eating and inserting. I actually found it made it feel worse, when I inserted it. However I didnt have as much burning as I have with past infections if I did I think it would of been great. But eating the yogart I could really tell a difference I would eat 4 a day and after I would eat them I felt a lil better. I was nervous about trying garlic, I mean what if I couldnt get it out. So I ate two cloves of garlic instead, till I could get to the store to buy whole garlic pills. After reading on here I decided to try ACV. I was worried because it was midnight and all the natural stores are closed. Luckily the supermarket by my house is 24 hours and has a natural section in it. I found all natural ACV. It was like 5 bucks! I came home and made a bath with warm water, and a cup of ACV. I soaked in it for 20 mins. Then I took 1/2 cup of ACV and 1/2 cup water and poured it on a washcloth, I applied it to the infected area and left it there for two mins. It did burn a lil bit, which made me kinda feel like it was working. I felt a big difference. Even just after the bath I felt a big difference. I went to bed and did it again in the morning. My plan is to keep doing this twice a day till I feel completely back to normal, the only problem is I should be starting my period any day now so that will likely make this all way way worse. Im hoping for the best, and I am thankful for all of you who shared your stories, they were very helpful to people like me. I never write on these things, but I figured if it will help one suffering women I will do it. Thanks girls~"
Replies09/03/2009: Leah from Friendswood, Texas replies: "Garlic will kill anything fungal, use it until it goes away, dont stop when you think you've had enough, keep taking it diligently and the acv. Peroxide will kill it also and acidophilus. Take them all like crazy, and get ready to be happy! No more itching or burning! I had to do this also because I had got a yeast infection when I got a stent put in for a kidney stone. I used all of these and peppermint soap, and it all did the job almost instantly, of course you have to keep on it and make sure it is gone."
10/19/2009: Shampoo from Houston, Texas replies: "How do you apply the peroxide if you have a yeast infection?"
02/01/2010: Proxy from Spokane, Wa replies: "Hydrogen peroxide can either be applied, or diluted and applied. [Do NOT use internally as the doseage is in DROPS. Too much taken internally will cause a dangerous drop in blood sugar level.]"

[YEA] 05/04/2009: Kimberly from Lewisville, Texas writes: "acv cured my insane yeast infection. i am 37 years old and i have never had a yeast infection, until this month. after taking some antobiotics i developed a yeast infection. WOW! i tried monastat 7 and a yeast cleanse from my local health store. well, the yeast cleanse seemed to worked for a while , so i stopped. 2 days later my vaginal area was a deep red, itching , discharge , and unbearable. i could barely function. i found this acv cure on this web site and tried it. i read through a few posts to see what worked for others. so,i did a couple of things. i combined 12 to 16 oz of water with 2 tablespoons of acv and drank it 3 times a day. for immediate relief on my extrenal vaginal area i took a damp wash rag and put about 2 tablespoons of acv on it and held it on my vaginal area for a few minutes. it burned like no other for about 2 or 3 minutes , but i had IMMEDIATE RELIEF. you could actually see the color of my skin go back to normal. thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!! my extreme pain is now a extreme relief. thank you to this site for your awesome information"
Replies[YEA] 02/19/2010: Sasha from Baltimore, Md replies: "Ok so I am currently suffering from a YI or BV which I have had in the past so I figured its one of the two because I am familiar with the symptoms...anyway, I have burning, itching, and musty smelly discharge coming from my cooch but no cottage cheese. I have tried VH Essentials only for 3 days but experienced very little relief so that was a waste of $$. So I started doing some home remedy research and came across the "yogurt remedy" and the "ACV remedy" on this site. I filled a needleless syringe with plain greek yogurt (greek because its texture is thicker than most)and inserted about 1 teaspoon into my cooch. I am on dose #2 and I noticed the smelly discharge is not as strong about 85% gone and the itching was not as intense but still lingering. So I decided to be brave and try the ACV (from the supermarket). I poured straight ACV on a cotton ball and squeezed it so the liquid could drip onto my clit and labi...OMG! It burned like hell for about 60 seconds! However, I am 100% not itching or burning at ALL. ACV works for real!!!! I am ready to just pour the whole bottle down there lol...but yes ladies it does work. As for the yogurt...I will repost in about 3 days since I just started it today (02/19/10)...ACV is my hero!!"

[YEA] 03/21/2009: Veronica from New York, NY writes: "Apple Cider Vinegar for a yeast infection. I've read a lot about home remedies for cures and been worried to try them from all the mixed reviews. However, for the past couple of months, I have been having a very unfamiliar smell and itching sensation in my downstairs area. So I thought that maybe it could be normal since I just started having intercourse considering I got myself a PAP test and it came back clean. But after weeks of my vagina constantly being itching and uncomfortably smelling, I decided that I needed to take action. So I put about 3 tablespoons of ACV in a little dispenser bottle filling the rest with warm water. I put it directly on my outer labia lips and put some on a cloth and held it on for around a minute or so. After taking off the cloth, it stung a little bit for myself but very minimal. I did this twice and right after I felt a relieving sensation. It feels clean and able to breathe but just slightly itchy. With the other comments I would also like to say that no "cottage cheese" discharge came out my vagina and nothing of this at all. I'm going to keep continuing with this for at least 3-4 days, twice a day to make sure it is completely gone."

I had a Yeast infection: itching, and burning, around the outside of my vagina. I get the monthly e-mail from (Earth Clinic )and just my luck there is was in my in-box. Clicked on a few remedy's. However, tried ACV. I poured (neat) ACV on a face cloth (enough to cover face cloth in half), and placed it on the vagina for a few minutes. It stings for a little time. I did this, for a couple days. All good now."

[YEA] 01/08/2009: LIZ from Philadelphia, PA writes: "I truly believe that Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) is one of the most precious liquids on this earth. I should make a little altar in my bathroom just for it.
I had a yeast infection since Sept. 27, 2008. I had never had a yeast infection in my life so after 2 weeks of torture & doubt, I went to my doc. She prescribed Gynazole and Nystatin cream. I admit the Gynazole did calm the inflammation but it didn't get rid of the yeast. Nystatin helped in calming the pain.
I had thought the prescriptions would end my yeast infection but soon after I noticed the little white clumps. The yeast refused to go away so I quickly started eating yogurt, inserting yogurt, Monistat-3, Monistat-7, eating acidophilus pills by the dozen, inserting acidophilus powder, drinking water w/acv each night, inserting garlic cloves and eating 3 cloves each night. NOTHING WORKED.
I decided to reach out to science again so I was prescribed 2 mega doses of Diflucan. Those clumps didn't leave.I decided to be brave and try the ACV douche. I was traumatized from the garlic inserts so I didn't want anything as invasive.
Last night I emptied a douche bottle and put 3 teaspoons of ACV (Braggs Organic) w/lukewarm tap water. As I showered, I douched and immediately felt some tingling but no pain. I was relieved and squeezed the bottle to the last drop.
I noticed there was no slight itch. Also, later in the evening I noticed there were no clumps. I do feel slightly dry but no odd smells from the vinegar. I intend to continue douching for 2 more nights and 1 morning so I can be sure the infection is completely gone."

[YEA] 11/18/2008: Shayka from Tampa, FL writes: "I am 20 years old and I get yeast infections quite frequently. For the most parts my doctor prescribes me a pill to take which usually clears me up in a day or two. But currently I do not have insurance or money to go to the doctor. I have been suffering from a yeast infection for about 2 months now. First I tried the yogurt remedy, it soothed the itching and burning for a few days but it always returned. Then I went and bought the Monistat (spell check) from the drug store. This seemed to have cleared it up for about a week and a half. But it came back to hinder me!! I was really getting discouraged until I was searching the internet and found Earth Clinic!Yayy! I read over the comments and saw the ACV remedy. My Grandmother is constantly using ACV for everything, so I marked it as safe. First I used the ACV douche. Using a never before used douche bottle, I emptied it's original contents and measured 4 TEASPOONS of Apple Cider Vinegar (Publix Brand) then I filled the bottle with lukewarm tap water. This actually did not burn as much as I thought. You could actually see the discharge flowing from the vagina..yeah gross. Then I waited about half an hour and I wet a washcloth in warm water and then drenched it with more ACV. I then held this to the outer part of my "nookie" to ease the itching and burning. This burned SO bad! I wanted to cry. Despite the uncomfortable feeling I held this on for about 2 and a half minutes. Upon removing the washcloth it still burned like hell..but after 7 minutes everything subsided. It does really work!! ACV does leave you dry though, and smelly. I would advise to stay away from tampons and sex for a little while. And NEVER use Summer's Eve douches!!!"
Replies[YEA] 03/26/2009: Marly from Chambersburg, PA replies: "I agree with what others have said. I tried ACV on a cloth and applied it directly. The stinging was painful, but short lived. I appreciate the suggestion as yeast infections can be quite troublesome and difficult to cure. I had one when I was pregnant and did not want to use drugs, but finally could not stand it anymore."
02/01/2010: M Allen from Uk replies: "I would think Apple Cider Vinegar would certainly NOT be a cure for Candida Albicans or Thrush as it`s more commonly known. The reason being that apples themselves are full of natural sugar and yeasts thrive on sugars.
The best cure for Canadida is going on a special diet and avoiding ALL fast foods, sugars (even those in fruit, breads with yeast, stick to basic things vegetables, meat, fish etc., the yeast will die off gradually. This will take about 3 months to feel really better. But you cannot then go back on the junk foods and sugars you used to eat as the Candida Albicans will come back. Candida has been deemed by many physicians a pre-lude to cancers. You`ll feel amazing after being on the diet a few weeks, but persevere and you will not be troubled by it again. Not only that your Immune System will be strengthened, you`ll have lots of energy, better skin and any depression will lift."

[YEA] 11/06/2008: April from New York , NY writes: "I'm a 33 year old woman and I've had two yeast infections in my entire life. The first was when I was 19 and the second was just recently. I got my period and shortly after it started, I started to get symptoms of a YI - itching, soreness around my vulva, swelling, burning. I figured this infection was triggered by extremem stress and the fact that I just got back on the Pill.
At any rate, this particular YI came back FULL FORCE! It was so bad I could barely concentrate. The itching was massively intense and I was so sore, I felt like I was walking funny. I was desperate and willing to try anything - and I did. First, I stopped using the tampons (since my period was on) and switched to pads. Then I went to the sore and got some Vagisil-1 (which really didn't work) and plain yogurt. I inserted the Vagisil and ate like 2 1/2 cups of the yogurt (which I sweetened with fresh berries). I gave it about 12 hours, and nothing! Finally, I decided to go to the internet and see what Earth Clinic had to offer. I had used the site previously for a case of Bacterial Vaginosis I had and the peroxide douche they recommended cured my BV!
I found lots of info on ACV but I was afraid to do the douche, so I did the bath with 1 1/2 cup of ORGANIC Raw ACV. I sat in the bath for about 20 minutes and it relieved my symptoms for about an hour but of course they returned. I had HAD IT! I was at the end of my rope and the itching was driving me crazy. I called my doctor and got an emergency prescription of Diflucan and took it that night. The Diflucan took forever to work and I really wasn't able to get much sleep that night but I was just relieved to have it in my system.
The next morning, I still had some itching but I could tell that the swelling and burning was subsiding. I was desperate and so I FINALLY decided to try the ACV douche. I got Summer's Eve that I had stashed away and poured it out. I filled the bottle with about 3-4 teaspoons of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (try the organic isle in your grocery store) and the rest with warm water. I douched TWICE! I had to say, as graphic as it is, what came out of my vagina was disgusting. It looked like rotting flesh but I know it was yeast.
From that moment on, my itching was TOTALLY gone!!!! I don't know if it was the ACV coupled with the fact that I had Diflucan in my system, but the ACV douche seemed to be the ONLY thing that got rid of the itch, which I think is the biggest culprit of the YI!
Thanks so much Earth Clinic! I am totally hooked to this site for all my ailments. I can't tell you how much money I've spent on doctor's visits, prescriptions and stuff like Vagisil that don't work. My ACV was $3.29! This site not only recommends great advice but it's good to know that others are going thru similar experiences!"

[YEA] 11/02/2008: Sara from Lexington , KY writes: "I've been having a yeast infection for about a month. With all the usual symptoms -itching -dryness -some white discharge -no odor I've had yeast infections before, generally due to antibiotics. So, naturally, I tried to cure it via over-the-counter anti-fungal cream suppositories (I think it was Monostat). From my experience, I should feel relief after a day of using this treatment. I waited about 4 days, but the treatment didn't phase my symptoms. I tried it again, waited about 5 days, still no cure. I went into a walk-in clinic, they assured me I didn't have an STD (which I was afraid of) but a different type of yeast infection that the cream doesn't cure. So, they prescribed me Diflucan (spell check) with a refill just in case. I took the first pill, waited 2 days and took the second. This didn't help me either.
I went to my regular doctor, she took a culture to find out what type of yeast infection it is. The culture took 7-10days. After the 8th day my doctor called to inform me that I didn't have a yeast infection.
Now, it's my belief that doctors are idiots. Both doctors offices took cultures yet only one said I had a yeast infection.
So, I used the old Apple Cider Vinegar method. I ran a bath a little less than ankle deep and poured about 1 1/2 cups of Apple Cider Vinegar. This did not present immediate relief, but after soaking for 30mins, my symptoms had subsided. Thank you Bragg for organic Apple Cider Vinegar and thank you to my ex boyfriend who left it at my house.
There are some draw backs to this remedy. The smell is not pleasant and it made my vagina very dry. So, I recommend some sort of women's lubrication (I used Vagasil 4day moist treatment). Don't use something that's not made for women because that can cause a ph imbalance (which leads to yeast infections). I had to use the Apple Cider Vinegar method twice, once in a day. And I also drank 2teaspoons of Apple Cider Vinegar mixed with 1 cup hot water and honey to taste. With enough honey, it tastes like Apple cider.
This was the only treatment that worked for me. And after a month of being uncomfortable and itchy down there, I think all the women here knows what kind of relief it brings feel normal again."

I have been a huge fan of earth clinic since my mom introduced me years ago when I was a very very poor college student. ACV basically works for everything. Clears up your skin, good for your insides - outsides, and apparently yeast infections. I also have been adding it to my dogs water bowl and it has cleared up her horrible skin (which i have spent HUNDREDS of dollars at the vet's office trying to cure). I have been in AGONY the past 24 hours with this horrible yeast infection. I get one atleast every other month and I always use that stupid, expensive monistat or vagisil. They are messy and unsuccessful in easing the pain. This morning I hopped on earth clinic, and sure enough ACV was the cure. I put some on a wet washcloth and held it on my lady area for about 3 minutes. It burned like hell at first, but it worked!! I'm going to soak in the bath now, as I'm sure that will be much relief as well. I have had problems with 'yeast' since I was a teen. I have been on those "Nature's Cure" yeast pills, but they aren't really helping. I'm going to start taking acidophilus pills cause I heard that they are great. I love you earth clinic!!! i just want to smother you with hugs and kisses!! thank you so much for the relief."

I stumbled upon this website at lunch time and thought I need to try this because this redness and soreness is driving me crazy !!!! I almost went to the supermarket and purchased Heinz ACV that would have been a mistake, [ORGANIC ACV] works best.
I filled the tub up past my ankles with semi hot water and a 1-1/2 cup of organic ACV sat in it and squatted and waved the water upwards towards my vajayjay, (I was too scared to try the douche). Right now I feel at peace! I am typing this testimonial fresh out of the tub in some cotton panties RELIEVED!!!! not to mention I am sipping on a glass of water with 2 table spoons of ACV. At this moment I don't have fire engine red labia minora lips, I will keep you informed if my condition changes."
