[YEA]  08/21/2009: Bella from Roselle, Nj: "I have had three yeast infection these past two months. The third just started today. I didn't want to take any over the counter meds so instead I took the natural approach. I took 3 acidophilus pills every few hours, ate a greek yogurt, and my cousin gave me a recipe for a great douche. Acv, peroxide and water. I felt instant relief. Its quicker and better than prescription meds. Try it ladies!"

[YEA]  02/20/2010: Rosie from La, Ca: "A quick cure for yeast infections is to cut off a piece of aloe vera, remove the skin and insert it like a tampon. It burns, so it is difficult to keep there. Just putting some of the aloe vera gel on, also helps. You will have immediate relief, but keep doing it for atleast 3 days to prevent recurrence."

[YEA]  07/26/2011: Becky from Sao Paulo, Brazil replies: "Hi, I also have been using a piece of the aloe gel inserted into the vagina to treat yeast infections. I wrap it in a thin piece of sterilized gouze and tie one end with a piece of dental floss and then I put 2 or three drops of tea tree oil on it before inserting. In the beginning it iches like mad and after 5 mins it goes away. In the morning I pull it out and feel much better!! It really works for me. If anyone has any other ideas to substitute the gauze and the dental floss please let me know! Thanks"

[YEA]  03/30/2008: Christopher from Kirkland Lake, ON: "A few years ago i worked in a kitchen environment and a candy store. Ok obviously i had a bad diet... i developped a rash on the side of my hand. water made it worse and perhaps the plastic gloves for candy didnt help. this rash persisted for over half a year and disappeared only by moving up my pinkie. there it became obvious that aside from cracking skin that there were tiny pimple like bumps.

My dad got me cortisone cream and it flared. apparently i found out at that time that cortisone feeds yeast! i got to thinking i had a yeast infection on my hand!!! i did try ACV it brought relief but i think the infection was too deep. Or that the ACV would of worked better mixed with a cream... it would clear to reemerge once the skin became dryer again. I was so convinced it was a yeast infection...

One day i told my dentist what i thought and she helped me get some cold sore medication... nyaderm/betaderm.. just to say it was antifungal!!! after 3 days the rash never came back.... i know its not a natural cure but just to say had i made a something with garlic or you know something antifungal the rash would of left.

since that time ive formed a belief that almost all health problems stem from mycotoxins or fungus/yeast living in human tissue. i still have a coated tongue and in my best efforts have only been able to partially clear it up. sucking on a tablet for candida did clear it up for a few hours, enough for hope but yeah thats expensive."

12/18/2010: Maggie from Kansas City, Ks replies: "For Thrush, the white coating in your mouth, I have found a good way to stop it for me. First, I brush my teeth as normal in the morning. Important! Upon waking do not swallow any spit (sorry). The spit (IMO) is FULL of candida, the white stuff, especially in the mornings. If I swallow anything, it fuels my gut candida and virginia candida overgrowth, I think. But, anyway, the second crucial part is this: I get some Listerine, or store brand of it, and put in a normal cup-full of it in my mouth. Now, for the fun part! I brush my teeth again gently - the gums, the nooks, the crannys, the toungue, back of the mouth as far as I can get, etc. - to get as much surfaces in my mouth brushed with the mouthwash in there. Yes, I lean over the sink and tend to drool, but I've gotten better at it with practice. My eyes can water from the sting, since it takes me over a minute to get all my surfaces, but I figure the tears go down the back of my throat and help wash things. I end up rinsing and rinsing with water afterwards just to get rid of the stinging, but its all worth it. I have found that the stubborn white coating cant be rinsed with just a half a minute of swishing; it needs to be brushed out!

The benefit of doing this twice a day for a couple days and then daily for a week or so gives me great results all through my body. This means that my digestion returns to normal (no longer constipated) and my vaginal yeasty beasty virgina dies down. In addition, I do take Femdophilus (refrigerated acidophilus from Whole Foods) twice/three times a day when I have a flair. (Once at night normally). I also take Azo Yeast (from any drug store) 4 times a day with a flair (twice a day normally). I have taken Diflucan in the past, once daily for thirty days to get rid of candida. This regimen works just as good for me! The only times I seem to have a flair now-a-days is when I run out of the Azo or the 'dophilus for more than a couple days. You'd think I'd learn..."

Antibiotics and Yeast Infections

05/24/2013: Ac from Houston, Tx: "I'm so miserable right now. I thought I had a UTI since I get them frequently and took the extra round of dose my doctor gave me just in case I got the UTI back. I did not see a discharge. As soon as I took the first day of antibiotics I saw the discharge and I knew I had made a mistake taking the antibiotic. 3 days of the yeast infection suppository treatment and no relief! It did not work this time. The cream that comes with it is also not helping me. I'm super uncomfy and want to go home. I will definitly go out during lunch to get the pills and yogurt. I pray this helps me."

Replies
05/24/2013: Kt from The Usa replies: "What helps me is taking a non-dairy probiotic at least two hours after the antibiotic. I was advised by the pharmacist not to take them any closer together because the antibiotic kills the beneficial flora."
05/24/2013: Mindy from Michigan replies: "Caprylic acid is your friend. I buy the 500mg stuff, and take 3-5 capsules a day if I have an infection. Usually knocks it out in a few days. Than I take two caps a day for another five days. Also, coconut oil works better than any otc cream for the discomfort."

Apple Cider Vinegar Cure for a Yeast Infection

Folk Cure Ingredients:

  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Water

Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) may burn a touch at first, but then it brings lasting relief. Wet a cotton pad, cloth, or cotton ball in an equal parts mixture of water and ACV. Apply it to the labia or any external skin where itching and irritation are occurring, and hold it in place for a few minutes. Generally, Earth Clinic doesn’t recommend douching, but many have found relief from internal symptoms by filling a douche with 2-3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and warm water, or you can also soak a tampon in ACV for internal use as well.

[YEA]  04/11/2013: Ashley from Jacksonville, Fl: "After years of dealing with yeast infections, my new midwife said that some women deal with yeast infections consistently, and that some women can have one after every period because of a ph imbalance your period causes. Not all women have the same symptoms and many things may cause a yeast infection for one and not for another.

Here are my personal experiences:

FOOD
I notice a major shift when I start eating more processed foods, and that it lightens or clears when I eat all vegetables and little sugary fruits.

SYMPTOMS
I have never itched or burned, but have always had a discharge and a yeast smell. I have had BV, but I always get YI.

SOLUTION
I keep a spray bottle with diluted tea tree oil and water on the back of the toilet, and when I go to the bathroom, I spritz everything. It feels great and feels clean. Tea tree smells more fresh than spraying Apple Cider Vinegar. I will also insert some of the tea tree/water solution in my vagina and it makes a huge difference.

Supplements
Priobiotics: I started taking a 15 billion non-refrigerated probiotic that I purchased from a large natural and whole foods store. It comes in a pink box. This has been the best probiotic I have ever taken, and I have taken a lot.

Women's Whole Food Multi: I also take a food based whole foods women's multi 2x day (says 3x, I'm doing good just to remember to take 2).

Douche: I am going to try a Tea Tree Oil and/or Apple Cider Vinegar douche to see if I can get more of the root of the problem with the discharge – which is my main problem.

  • 2 Tbls. Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 8 oz. Warm Water
  • Douche 2x day

Perhaps this will help someone too!"

I tried a lot of fancy things to get rid of the nasties & am getting good results but here comes the jughie part part because these nasties tend to sink to the bottom of the toilet so you have to use a fork to dig them out to see if you are getting them out of your system. Now copper kills everything, search the net."

  • [YEA]  01/31/2013: Eunie from San Antonio, Texas: "So, I was on anti biotics cause of strep, and it ended up giving me a yeast infection. I was so not happy. AFter trying everythinggg I could think of. I finally decided to give this ACV thing a shot. I went a local HEB (super market in Texas) and bought raw ACV. In a small spray bottle, I poured about 1oz of hot water, and 3oz of the ACV. While in the shower, I sprayed my vaginal area until I could feel the ACV dripping down my legs. (my shower smells like vinegar :P) It burned for a few moments, but I already started feeling better. When I got out of the shower, I refilled the bottle because I had used most of it, but no water this time; just the ACV. I soaked a tampon in it and inserted it for about 30 min, and sprayed my vaginal area once more until I could feel it burning. While sitting down, I could actually feel the intense burning from the ACV in my vagina.. Let' sjust saying it really did suck. But after I took it out, I felt tons better. This stuff actually worked. So glad I gave in to it. I'm going to do this for another three days and see how everything works out."

[NAY]  08/15/2012: Secretagent from Oakland, Ca, Usa: "I am 27, and have had yeast infections several times a year since I started dating my ex. They went away when I stopped dating him, and I'm pretty sure he has a yeast issue himself. I also struggle with fatigue, toenail fungus, anxiety and digestive issues that make me believe my problem is candida. I don't eat processed foods and eat very little sugar or carbs. I wanted to address my other issues, so I started drinking the organic with mother ACV and baking soda combo, 2tbsps ACV with 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, twice a day. Within 3 days I had a raging yeast infection. I cut out the baking soda and maintained the ACV drink and went with 50/50 ACV douches, morning and night. The second morning, it was worse than ever, swollen and painful and itching. Garlic helped stop the itch. In any case, this is the 2nd or 3rd time that drinking ACV has brought on a yeast infection, in my opinion.

Perhaps it would have resolved had I continued, but I'm going camping for 3 weeks and cannot be dealing with this out there. I'll be taking diflucan in the morning. Maybe I'm just not one that can handle it, though it does help when I use it externally and I do think it makes me more regular and more perky. Wish I could do it!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  07/16/2012: Misty from Indiana, Usa: "I've had a recurrent yeast infection for several weeks now that I believe was brought on by birth control pills (which I have stopped taking about 2 days after developing the infection). I am fairly sure the infection also exists in my bladder (as I have had frequent urination & have been urinating white specks for 2 weeks) and in my bowels as I've been struggling with constipation for over a month (doc says its probably stuck fecal matter). I'm not sure if this is considered general candida overgrowth. I don't have a coated tongue, rashes, or any other symptoms really.

I've been taking organic ACV orally for about 2 weeks (1 tsp in water several times a day, anymore makes me constipated) and applying nondiluted ACV topically (sometimes the organic stuff, usually the regular pasteurized stuff) by holding a soaked cotton ball under my clitoral hood and vaginal opening for 15 seconds each, then wiping the entire vulva and anal area (front to back of course) and holding the cotton ball on my anus for 15 seconds. When it gets really itchy internally, I will soak a few cotton swabs in ACV and insert as far as I can without letting go of the ends and leave in for several minutes (usually this step isn't necessary as the itch occurs mainly outside the vagina; if you can do without this step I recommend it as it tends to dry me out). The burn is not too intense unless I've been rubbing/scratching and lasts only briefly, then the itch subsides completely. This doesn't seem to help the infection itself; however, it does relieve the itch.

Other supplements/remedies I have been using include: 250 mg magnesium oxide 1-3 times daily; 1 tbsp blackstrap molasses in a 10 oz glass mixed with 1. 5 tsp organic ACV and 2 tbsp lemon juice, then topped off with water and taken in the morning before breakfast and sometimes before bed; 1/8 tsp borax and 1 tsp baking soda added to 1 liter of water and sipped throughout the day (if I take too much I get headaches so I usually only drink about 2/3 of this mixture per day. 5 days on & 2 off); daily multivitamin (vegan) most days; 125 mg lithium aspartate (5 mg lithium) in the mornings most days; gingko biloba once or twice daily; silica complex sometimes; 1 tsp psyllium with 20 oz water once a day; 1-2 tbsp ground flax added to food daily; 1 tsp creatine once a day; borax baths about once a week after swimming or when I see visible culture buildup (1/2 cup added to bath water and filled up to hips), acidophilus tablets twice daily after eating. If you would like any additional info about brand names or anything, email me.

I eat an almost vegan diet: no meat or dairy at all, fatty fish occasionally (though not recently), organic local eggs sometimes. Recently my diet has included fast/processed food once or twice a week, but I try to limit my portion sizes and eat veggies daily. I avoid sweets, eat whole grains, and add sea salt to my food when I can (helps cut down the excessive thirst). I exercise regularly (daily stretching and weekly cardio). I'm a healthy weight usually though occasionally I get slightly underweight.

I hope this helps, and I would appreciate any other suggestions if you have them."

ALSO, look up prebiotic vaginal lubricant. I have yet to us the luvena but so far everything else is working. I am also taking Femdophilus with the FOS to keep them alive. Good luck!!"

[YEA]  07/12/2012: Jessica from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: "For external yeast infections, I put apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle without diluting it. Then, twice a day, I spray the area directly. Yes, it burns initially but then feels so much better. I do this for about 5 days."

[YEA]  06/26/2012: Nomoreinfection from Middleburg, Clay County Florida : "I got my first yeast infection about 3 days ago, I thought it was just a minor itch and would go away.... Until I had sexual intercourse and felt this god awful pain I instantly knew I had a a yeast infection. I came across this site and saw all the open post on what people have done to cure their Y. I and sweet Jesus it may have burrrrrrnnnn but it worked! I douched and 10mins gone nothing no problem!"

[YEA]  04/26/2012: Maz from Philadelphia, Pa: "I had a persistent yeast infection that did not go away after using Monistat, or Diflucan, OR both together. The treatment would clear up the infection for a day or so, then it would return. My doctor told me I needed to see a pelvic specialist. I couldn't get an appointment with a specialist for A MONTH... I thought "well, if I have to wait that long, trying Mom's advice can't hurt. " (My mom grew up poor in rural Georgia where "folk" medicine was all the medicine most people could afford.)

I poured out half a cup of unfiltered organic apple cider vinegar and added a little bit of warm water. I was having internal and external itching and dryness, varying amounts of discharge (from "a little" to "buckets"), and a LOT of yeasty smell.

Day 1: Soaked two Q-tips in the ACV for a couple of minutes, then put them in my vagina and kept them there for 5-6 minutes. It BURNED LIKE CRAZY for about 90 seconds, then I felt... Nothing. No burning, no itching, nothing! I took those out and then used the ACV to wet a paper towel and wiped everything external (note that I trim my pubic hair pretty closely, you might need to use more ACV than 1/2 cup if you don't). Again -- burning for a little while, then nothing! The itching was gone all day, the discharge stopped after a couple of hours, and all that was left was a little bit of the smell.

Day 2: The smell had become a little worse and the external itching had come back a little bit. I repeated the same process. This time, NO burning internally, and only a little burning externally. The smell and itching went away again.

Day 3: A little bit of the smell had come back. I repeated the whole process one more time, and I've been INFECTION FREE ever since!"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  12/03/2011: Debbie from Fernandina Beach, Fl: "I have been suffering with vaginal irritation for over 10 weeks. Went to the doctor before Thanksgiving and it was determined as BV not YI, however, then the antibiotic charged up a massive YI. I tried the Apple Cider Vinegar douche, Apple Cider Vinegar drink and acidophilus this evening. I do feel some external relief but I am still itching inside rather badly. Will do this again in the morning. Hoping for the best. Thanks so much for this site."

01/18/2012: C. C. from Indianapolis, In replies: "Soooo I was put on antibiotics for my BV and it threw me into a wicked yeast infection. Yes I said wicked. I took the diflucan but everyone knows it takes it at least 3 days to began to feel any relief. I was trying to work and the itching, burning and stinging was driving me insane! I was so miserable I wanted to cry. It was not only itching like crazy but it hurt and burned to the point where I could barely sit. I searched the web for something to relieve the symptoms and came across the ACV info.

Desperate and willing to try anything I made the purchase, went home and put it in a spray bottle with some lukewarm water *Never-minding the measuring because I was so uncomfortable* Well, I honestly didn't expect it to work but once I started spritzing I felt IMMEDIATE relief from the itching. I simply sat on the toilet and started spraying. I sprayed so that it would run down and saturate all of my "parts" (I know... Tmi) but it felt soooo good. It did sting a bit, but I dabbed myself dry and laid across the bed to let it air dried. After 5 minutes I had relief. I was able to enjoy the rest of my evening. I got up this morning and felt the itchiness (not nearly as bad as the previous morning).... But I had none of the cottage cheese discharge. I showered and treated myself to another spritzer on the toilet and I was able to come to work today feeling 90% better than I did yesterday.

Now as I sit typing, I only feel a mild discomfort. I am going to do another spritzer when I get home and once again in the morning although something tells me that by tomorrow It'll all be gone away. I wish I would have known about this sooner because anyone who has ever suffered from a vaginal yeast infection knows you would rather have someone jab you in the eye with a blunt object than to suffer this pain. From now on, when I feel an infection coming on, I know what I'll reach for.... My handy little spray bottle :)"

[YEA]  03/15/2012: Melissa from Barberton, Ohio replies: "Ok, I have been on Antibiotics for 2 weeks due to a severe kidney infection. So needless to say I got a YI from Hell!! Burning, itching, discharge, it is a hot mess! Well after reading this site I decided to try ACV. So tonight I got a clean washcloth and soaked it in ACV and water (half and half) and gently wiped the external areas. Then I dipped a tampon (which I had to borrow from a friend because I don't use tampons) in the ACV mixture and inserted it for 15 minutes. It stung a little bit, as soon as I removed the tampon I wiped the area again and now only 20 minutes later I feel so much better!!! I can't wait to do it again in the morning! It was actually refreshing after the slight sting was gone. I highly reccomend it! "

[NAY]  10/29/2011: Ceecee from Austin, Tx: "I was so excited to come across this site when I was looking for alternative cures for a YI. Sadly, the ACV did not work at all. My symptoms have progressed into a full blown YI, so I had to give in and buy Monistat. I tried the ACV spritz, and the bath along with acidophilus pills when the symptoms started. Now I'm in for the long haul. I wish you all luck out there. YI's are not fun at all :("

[YEA]  10/07/2011: Sandy from Carlsbad, Nm: "My name is Sandy, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 2 yrs. ago this Christmas. Ever since then, I've had the most God-Awful yeast infection ever!

I tried everything, including all the so called cures online. Nothing would touch this infection until last night, when I was at my wit's end with this thing.

I bought a small bottle of ACV from Walmart for .64 cents. I used it last night, and again this morning, the infection not only burned, itched, and aggravated me, but upset my balanced lifestyle.

The ACV really works, for those of you who may be skeptics. I like most women, tried the monostate, the vagi-guard, creams, garlic, etc.

I'm so thankful for the ACV, this infection is brought on by yeast, and too much sugar and bacteria in the body, the diabetes doesn't help that's for sure, and the infection is something I've never had before in my life.

It's not pleasant, and is the most serious and disturbing thing that's ever happened to me healthwise.

If you're running out of ideas, time, and patience, like I was, you must try the ACV, you sure can't beat the price, and the results are amazing. Stop wasting your money, time and effort on creams, that are messy, and garlic, it's a waste of time!

The ACV is a true cure and blessing, Thank you, so much! Sandy"
