11/26/2012: Rere from Mansura, Louisiana United States : "I am taking fluconazole for a yeast infection but I want to stop the smell. Will this help? if not, any suggestions of what will?"
08/25/2012: Marie from Milwaukee, Wisconsin : "I have been having discharge for several months now. There is no itching, no foul scent, no burning when I use the bathroom. Just discharge everyday. I have to use pantyliners daily and I just want it to go away. I've recently started bathing in apple cider vinegar and it's still the same. I've been eating yogurt daily for about 3 weeks and no change. I read everyone's posts and I'm not sure what to next! Can someone please help?"
08/06/2012: Lotus from Greenwich, Ct, Usa: "I need some guidance. I am experiencing symptons like those of a Yeast Infection (I am very prone to getting them), the discomfort started after intercouse with a condom. The feeling of the condom was awful, it felt like a rough plastic. Immediately after I was feeling soreness and pain but it was until the next night that I started to feel an unbearable burning; by the following night I was red down there and the pain is just like a yeast infection. Due to the condom I am inclined to believe that it is a latex allergy, to be safe I bought a generic version of Monistat 3, just used it one night but I am not feeling any comfort yet. Any advice?"
Replies08/07/2012: Sweetorange from Larnaca, Cyprus replies: "Hi, Lotus, I can't comment on the latex allergy; but you could consider going to the pharmacy and picking up a bottle of iodine douche. Iodine kills yeast. The yeast infection implies a couple of things: First, that maybe your intestinal flora are out of balance. A course of probiotics may help. Second, maybe you need to reduce the carbohydrates in your diet, as they cause elevation in blood sugar after meals and acidosis, providing a terrain favorable for yeast growth. I hope you feel better soon!"
05/27/2012: Robyn from Sydney, Australia: "Dear Ted, with fms, cfs, mcs 20 yrs after ross river, glandular fever, barvon forest, just had a sick building syndrome expert come to measure radiation where I am trying to live. He said I had a bad bad yeast infection (kineseology) & parasites. Have taken many parasitic cleansers & clove oil as you suggested. I used to get utis every 2nd day (20 yrs) which have gone since olive leaf extract & B3. No vaginal yeast infection so how would I know. I had been diagnosed with chlymadia pneumonia along with many others 4 yrs ago - no treatment offered - so as my symptoms so extreme & on hemaview my blood shows an invasion of viruses have been treating with 3 strong antibiotics. That will do my yeast infection wonders if I do have one. The only indication is white scum on my tongue (also been there 20 yrs) but I have a bad liver so could be that. Pain has diminished from = to childbirth to a little less since started the antibiotics so any suggestions?"
12/27/2011: Deirdre from Dublin, Ireland: "Ted, I've had chronic vaginal yeast infection for two years. I developed it after giving birth. It never goes away. I also experience smelly gas. I had numerous candida treatments (colon cleanse, anti candida diet, GSE, h2o2, Bentonite Clay, Psyllium Husk, probiotics etc). Nothing to avail. It is so frustrating. Could you please, please help me? I would be greatful for any advice. Thank you so much."
09/11/2011: Eb from Victoria, Canada: "I have tried multiple natural remedies for yeast in the past, but didn't have much success fighting them without using OTC topical treatments. I started developing another yeast infection two weeks ago so I figured I'd just use a 6 day clotromizole treatment right away. It seemed to be almost gone, but I would still get a bit of itching in the evenings while using it. After the last dose, my symptoms started increasing. I tried apple cider vinegar baths and direct vinegar application to the area, which seemed to keep the symptoms down for a number of hours at first. However, after about 4 days of this I was just feeling totally inflamed and sore, and still have major itching that is driving me nuts, and am no longer experiencing any real relief with the ACV. I was also trying garlic cloves vaginally, tea tree and probiotics, and am generally on a good diet (vegetarian, low sugar, low dairy other than yogurt). I gave up yesterday and I am trying another OTC, which has yet to help. I'm also waiting on another lab test - the first didn't show yeast or BV, but my doctor figures it may have been negative for yeast since I had the test right after finishing the clotromizole. I am worried that I have a resistant strain or something! I really wish the ACV worked for me! And I'm open to suggestions! I got boric acid, which I will try after I finish the OTCs if necessary (hopefully not! )"
Replies09/12/2011: Helpyourself from Houston, Texas, Usa replies: "Try white vinegar as a douche. About 1/3 white vinegar to 2/3 water. Use as needed; everything in moderation :)"
08/18/2011: Germanwoman from Tennessee, Millington Usa: "Good Evening, today was the first day ive ever come across this page. I thank GOD I did. I am 31 years old and ever since I have turned this age I have been experiencing the burnning and the iching of what I thought was a yeast infection a week or before my cycle every mouth, It itches more than anything and get extremely DRY. When my husband and I tried to be intimate the very first time this happened I was in pain for years. Not to mention all of the other thing I tried along the way like monistat and vagisil.... OMG when I inserted I thought Satan had invited just my vagina to hell and made her his personal assitant. (lol) but that is the best way I can decribe it.
Well today is augt. 18 2011 and I have two weeks or less till my period shows up and lo and behold here it is again the DRYNESS AND THE ITCHING.. so I went to wal- mart prepared to just buy some of those luqui beads to insert into the vaginal area, but while reading the box I saw a vaginal gel called RepHresh, I bought it because on the box it says it is "clinically show to maintain healthy vaginal pH" so its inserted now as I type and the moisture is there but the Iching STILL Remains.... So as I read on I see where on the back of the box it has the words Lactobacillus which I rememered instantly my doctor giving me samples of one time. So I also bought a bottle. Now ive taken 3 already. Not to mention I have ringworms for the first time ever since I was like 5 years old all across the front of my hair line, my ears and the back of my neck. My doctor percsribed Ketoconazole 200mg 2x daily but it has cause me to Bleed rectally I dont mean to be wordy or gross u out but I am just miserable... ANYBODY that knows how I can get some type of RELEIF for BOTH the vaginal or ring worm problem please help. I wanna try the apple vinegar douche I just dont know how to mix it. PLEASE HELP."
03/17/2011: Shelley Williams from Wenatchee, Washington Usa: "I found your site while doing a google search for issues with my dog having a possible yeast infection. I have recently been diagnosed with systemic yeast (Candiasis) I had been treated with 2 courses of Nystatin and then 2 doses of Diflucan a week apart. Now 3 weeks later my issues are back again. I thought I would search for more practical answers as to why this is a persistant problem for me. I had taken antibiotics a few times in the last several months, pain killers, and a few other medications. I was scoped a few weeks ago and they diagnoses Diverticulosis and removed a pre-cancer polyp from the Sigmoid. I have put on several pounds since Christmas, 25 pounds in the first 5 weeks, then I went down a bit then back up another 10 pounds in the last 2 weeks.
I currently have thrush, vaginal yeast, foot fungus on both feet, serious digestive issues and gas, and it smells like something crawled inside me and died TWICE!
Since my dog seems to have some issues with bad gas and stomach noises that aren't typical, I thought I would do some research. He has had a history of issues with food allergies. I had to put him on a lamb and rice diet about 2 years ago, but he has done just fine with that, no problems with break outs on the skin or anything. He does get a bit itchy sometimes but I figure he's prone because he is a grey and white (dilute) American Staffordshire Terrier, just turned 4 years old. I have been feeding him Nature's Recipe for well over a year now, without any issues.
This last summer I had noticed his claws were turning a reddish brown up at the quick. I wasn't too sure what that was from, but I didn't worry about it too much because he wasn't having the breakout between his toes like before when he was on the other food. However, the skin between his toes has changed color, it isn't that fresh light pink color anymore.
I read on a forum where someone said that indicates a yeast infection. I figure with the other symptoms he is having, and my persistent issues now requiring a more agressive treatment, that maybe there is something that goes a little deeper here.
The house I just moved out of 4 months ago was old and there was a mold problem that I couldn't seem to get the owner to take care of. I later found out she was in foreclosure and had put the house in bankruptcy so that explains why she avoided fixing anything. I am wondering though, if maybe the problems me and my dog are having are due to something we were exposed to environmentally in that house, because these problems started there. I was living in Vegas and 4 months ago moved to Wenatchee, WA.
Please let me know if there is something I am possibly missing here. I'm starting to have some serious issues with my health and I don't want my dog to be sick on top of this whole thing. I've run out of money and can't afford an expensive Vet bill, I can barely afford my own Dr bills right now :-(
Shelley"
Replies03/18/2011: Cwilly from Kennewick, Wa, Usa replies: "Hi Shelley, Sorry to hear about your problem with yeast and your dog, too. I have had problems with yeast since my 20's. After I stopped eating foods I found out I am allergic to, the yeast problem seemed to subside. Recently it has returned and I have found many of the remedies on this site extremely helpful. If you are not already, you may want to take probiotics with reuteri. You can also get probiotics for your dog.You are already on the right track by researching alternatives for yourself. As I said, there are many good remedies on this site. Check out each one of them and give them a try. Just be aware that fighting systemic yeast may require a bit of a lifestyle change as far as eating habits and can take several months even a couple of years to fully get rid of it - but it is POSSIBLE.
Good luck! C"
03/18/2011: Elise from Perth, Wa Australia replies: "have you given apple cider vinegar a try? Its something that both you and your dog can take. My dogs have it in their water and never get fleas or bad breath anymore. It also cures just about anything, partly because of its anti bacterial and anti fungal properties, and who knows why else! People on this site refer to it as magic juice! Its curing my Poly Cystic Ovarian syndrome. My acne, weight, depression, body odour... Basically everything I dont like about myself is just disappearing! If you do decide to give it a go, make sure its from your health food store or chemist, and not the supermarket.... The cheap stuff is apparently really processed and doesnt contain much of the good stuff!good luck! Elise"
Rubbing Alcohol

[YEA] 12/20/2008: Roberta from Los Angeles, CA: "So I get reoccuring Yeast Infections, when i take Antibiotics, when i'm sick, sometimes around my period. Usually I just sit them out and consume lots of yogurt and take some apple cider vinegar. But the itching and burning just kills me, so i got restless and tried something rash. I was in the shower, and i figured what the hell, so i put a capful of some 80% rubbing alcohol on my "lips" and there was a very strong burning sensation, so i rinsed immediately and just as i had regretted it, i noticed the burning and itching were completely gone. the next day it came back a little, so i diluted a capful of rubbing alcohol in about a cup of water and rinsed thoroughly with it and again there was a slight burning sensation, then i rinsed with water and gone again was the itching and burning. So my final advice, just dilute some rubbing alcohol and rinse with it."

[YEA] 03/30/2012: Aeiver from New Braunfels, Tx/usa: "Many years ago after taking a course of antibiotics I developed a yeast infection. That time, and a couple of times since, I have used salt in my bath water. Plain table salt, use liberally, 1 to 2 cups disolved in a shallow bath (to keep the salt more concentrated). The relief is almost instantaneous. I repeated the treatment once or twice and was back to normal. From what I understand, it helps to restore the normal pH of the vagina. It is quick and inexpensive. Have never since used anything else."
Replies04/01/2012: Sophie from Dayton, Ohio, USA replies: "I have to disagree. There is nothing wrong with taking a bath in regular table salt, especially only 1-2 cups. Even though some salt is absorbed transdermally, the thing about that process is that your body will only absorb what it needs, and no more. Soaking in salt water is not the same as drinking salt water. Additionally, table salt is iodized, so really it may be the iodine in the salt that is responsible for the healing effects, more than the sodium chloride itself."
04/01/2012: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "I think what Aeiver is suggesting, that is having a table salt bath... "plain table salt, 1 to 2 cups" in the bath water to rid vaginal yeast sounds a very dangerous thing for anyone to do. Table salt is "sodium chloride" and is very dangerous for blood pressure among other things. If someone has a heart issue or some other health issue (or even if they don't)... This much "salt" into their body at one time could be fatal. Once dissolved it would enter the skin transdermally... Huge amounts. On the other hand real salt or unrefined salt is entirely different and would be safe without having to worry about side affects and it is full of other minerals.
I would be interested if others agree."
04/02/2012: Timh from Louisville, Ky, Usa replies: "Debbie, I very much agree. It is important for everyone who post info at EC to be specific and accurate, or misinformation can occur as a result. Also, in this new age of rapidly expanding info and discoveries, it's critical to be specific. Water isn't simply water anymore; there's tap water, bottled water, filtered water, distilled water, alkalized water, mineral water, etc. Salt isn't simply salt anymore. Also, while on topic, I wish people would also include the common name of a particular illness, not just the medical/scientific name; or maybe I need a e-medical encyclopedia. Also, how many mg, oz, or how many times a day or how many days also helps."
04/02/2012: Dud from Up The Creek In, Wv, Usa replies: "in reply to 04/01/2012: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia --""plain table salt, 1 to 2 cups" in the bath water to rid vaginal yeast sounds a very dangerous thing for anyone to do. Table salt is "sodium chloride" and is very dangerous ....."
I agree. Everyone knows that swimming [bathing] in sea water is nearly always fatal...... Because sea salt is 98.3 % sodium chloride."
04/02/2012: Baldev from Mumbai, Maharashtra, India replies: "Hi Debbie, I fully agree with you. I wish she means the Sea salt. Baldev"
04/02/2012: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "Dud, my point being that table salt is processed and does raise blood pressure etc and is very bad for your health. Raw sea salt or swimming in the sea does not raise blood pressure or endanger your health. Taking in excess processed salt via food or transdermally would not be healthful. If you still add table talt to your food, good luck to you."
04/02/2012: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "Agreed Timh, people need to be specific about things and when someone does post something that may be dangerous for people to try I think it should be corrected. This girl specifically said "table salt" which could endanger someone with blood pressure problems. She may have meant raw salt but she didn't say that."

[YEA] 12/09/2006: Maureen from Vancouver, BC, Canada: "Years ago I saw a doctor in Australia who told me that the only way to cure yeast infection was to douche twice a day for 10 days with a solution of salt and hot water (as hot as you can stand it), holding the solution in the vagina for 5 minutes, then draining and inserting new hot solution, etc. for a total of 20 minutes. Here's the problem ...I can't remember the proportion of salt to water! I think it might have been 1/4 cup table salt to one quart of hot water (boiled and cooled sufficiently). It works great! Does anyone know what the proportions are? Is it 1/4 cup salt to 1 quart hot water, or is it less salt?"
Sun Dry Laundry
07/02/2011: Dulcinea from La Mancha, Spain: "For about three miserable years I had a yeast infection, but one month after moving into a new apartment, the infection was gone. I believe it is because I am now able to dry my laundry outdoors in plenty of sunshine. It seems that even though I always wash undergarments in the hottest water possible, my underwear was reinfecting me with yeast! My mom is a retired nurse and has always said that the sun is an excellent sanitizer. She suggests that ironing one's undergarments with a very hot iron might be another way to kill residual yeast if you don't have a sunny place for drying clothes."

[YEA] 11/22/2008: Alfonzo from Cape Coral, Florida: "My wife suffered from severe and recurring yeast infections as a result of her bad diet(favorite foods-breads, pasta and cheese) and becoming overweight as a result. Both of us became very frustrated as a result of the discomfort that it caused her. She tried all of the over the counter medications as well as prescription medicines, but they all failed! I've studied herbal remedies and vitamin fuctions for years as a hobby. Somehow, I concluded that this [vitamin(A)-vitamin(E)] combination would offer the best possibility for success and sure enough it has'nt occurred again. I's been such a long time that I think that it's fair to say that it was a success.
=======================================
[DOSAGE] 2 softgel caps of each vitamin i.e.(8000iu X 2 of A) (400iu X 2 of E) puncture and squeeze into a table spoon then using a liquid dropper or needleless shringe take into the unit so as to insert mixture deep inside the vigina once a day for about 3 days. Then follow-up only at next occurrance using the same method. Infection should disappear and eventually not return again. Good Luck!
Thanks Earth Clinic!!!
Stay healthy and free!!!"
09/14/2012: Mara from Los Angeles, Ca replies: "After using a lot of ACV in my drinking water for the past year, which did help, I finally came upon the idea of taking vitamins C & E with every meal. It has worked wonders for me. Even if I eat something starchy, I don't get a yeast infection now."
[YEA] 09/30/2008: Ahmed from Toronto, Canada: "Hi, God bless for having such a good site. For people desperate for relief and cure from Yeast, KIRKMAN: YEAST AID POWDER "WORKS". It contains Vitamin C,Olive leaf extract, Pau D'arco bark extract, golden seal extract, caprylic acid, cranberry extract... It is $39.50 USD(454 grams) at www.spectrumsupplements.com.and is $50 USD at www.kirkmanlabs.com. It can be taken orally whenever the yeast hits, (make it last longer) or as a daily supplement to strengthen the immune system. (There is however a warning- not to be used by pregnant and lactating mothers.) Dosage on the box is 1/2 tsp once or twice a day. It has a sour taste but can be masked by honey to some extent. It brings things back into balance. Totally worth it. It is casein and gluten free. Helps children (Autistic or other) with yeast problems like rashes if you can get them to take it. Also available in hypoallergenic capsule form."
[YEA] 05/04/2008: Candy Moss from Ofallon, MO: "I have used L-Glutathione for years for stiffness or joint pain of any type. I works great. I am told it is the key to allow calcium and vit. D amd mag. into the osteoblasts. Without it very little gets in to keep them working properly and it works really well. It also detoxifies the liver. Also I use a product called colon tone by Dr.Eskeland. It is an oxygen based cleaner and one of the great things I noticed it also does is help with yeast infections which I have often, I am guessing the xtra oxygen in the colon kills bacteria. All I know is its great not to have to put up with those yeast infections constantly. I suppose you can find it on the web. Otherwise e-mail me and I can tell you where I get it. Also the glutathione is a very inexpensive supplement."
