Boric Acid Remedy for Yeast Infections
Home Remedy Ingredients:
- Boric Acid Powder
Boric acid suppositories can be used to restore your body's natural balance. You most likely will have to fill your own caplets, but you can easily get these and boric acid powder from the pharmacy. Insert a 600mg suppository each night, usually for about two weeks, for a lasting remedy. (NOT FOR INGESTION!)
[YEA] 06/05/2006: Mary from Cambridge, MA: "This site saved me a lot of frustration, money, and time. The boric acid in gel caps works wonders for both bacterial vaginosis and yeast infections. I got Boric Acid at a local pharmacy and the gel caps at Ditto's Wholesale online. I may never use another yeast cream or prescription vaginosis remedy again. I am very grateful to you for your suggestions. I also drank the vinegar solution for a time and found that very helpful for the yeast. THANK YOU!!!!"
[YEA] 01/27/2006: April from Steubenville: "Make your own boric acid suppositories by filling size 00 gelatin capsules. insert one capsule in the vagina at bedtime for 2 weeks. To prevent a recurrent infection, boric acid can be used twice a week for 6mo. to 1 year. I am 37 yrs old and put up with chronic yeast infections for the past 10 yrs. I tried this treatment after every medication had failed. I have been yeast fee for almost a year! This really works, I told my gynecologist about this treatment and he is now letting this patients in on the cure! You can go to a website WebMD.com to read more about it."
[YEA] Lorelei from Utah: "After suffering for months with recurrent infections (yeast and/or BV) after every single period, I started using "Yeast Away" Boric Acid suppositories (you can order them thru Amazon). They also have calendula and oregon grape root in them. I just use one every night of my period. I haven't had any problems since. The great thing about boric acid is it helps both conditions, so if you're misdiagnosing yourself with a yeast infection, it doesn't really matter. Also, just like recurrent antibiotic use leads to resistant bacteria, recurrent monistat (or whatever brand) use leads to resistant yeast infections."
[YEA] Laura from SHELTON, CT: "I BOUGHT BORIC ACID POWDER IN THE DRUGSTORE AND ORDERED 00 SIZE EMPTY GELATIN CAPSULES FROM DRUGSTORE.COM. ONLINE. I FILLED THE CAPSULES WITH THE BORIC ACID AND INSERTED ONE IN MY VAGINA AT NIGHT FOR 2 WEEKS, ITS A MIRACLE, IT REALLY WORKS. ITS ALSO GOOD FOR BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS."
[YEA] 06/16/2008: Rachel from Wauconda, IL: "I had yeast infection for over 5 years. i tried colonics taking proboitices anti fungel medicine. nothing worked.
I took caprilic acid, which is a derivetive of coconute oils, and took the first week 2 caps 3x a day and every week i up it by one so the next week i took 3 caps 3 x and so on until i reached 5 caps i did it for 3 months i didn't get a yeast infection for 2 years now."
Childhood Sexual Abuse
10/03/2012: Gglexicon from Riverside, Ca: "Hello, I am a 19 year old living in Southern California. I have visited the sites on numerous occasions to try natural ways of curing the miscellanous vaginal infections that I have Had(and ongoing). It was alarming that so many women struggle with the symptoms that go with having a vaginal infection, that is not sexually transmited.
But what I wanted to shed light on is the fact that alot of women who were sexually abused as children tend to have gynecological problems as they mature, or even immediately following the abuse.
The reason why I mention it is the fact that one in three women have been sexually assaulted/abused in their lifetime. Most of the time, the victims know their perpetrator. ALOT of women go around not completing healing from this past trauma.
This isn't a cure for having Bacterial Vaginosis, yeast infections, or even trichomiasis. I can attest to the fact that immediately after I was molested at age 8, I started to have yeast infections. When I read this fact/or generality in the Book Secret Survivor by Sue E. Blume, it totally made sense that the source of all these infections was that is was stored trauma, taking the form of stress, and the learned habitat of tightening my (sexual) core alot throughout the day ever since the day the molestation happened. What gives more evidence to this is that my mother, and four of my five sisters are all survivors also. I remember as a child folding laundry, and noticing that all of my sisters' underwear were stained just like mine.
I am not asking for pity. I just wanted to share this bit of information, and story to help other women who have vaginal infections to possibly look back at that as the source of all their struggle. Maybe even begin to actively heal if they havent done so.
Peace and Love, G.G"
09/01/2010: Addie from Queens, Ny: "I suffer from recurring yeast infections and would like to know which oil would be best to use.. I've heard that coconut oil is great but not sure. Please help."Replies
11/28/2011: Naoma from Grandy, North Carolina replies: "Nutiva brand extra virgin Coconut Oil... I give my dogs with great results for internal yeast infections... and I use it on my own."
[YEA] 05/29/2010: Sue from Boston, Ma, Usa: "I'm in my twenties and like most women have had my share of yeast infections. I don't like to take medication anymore and a couple months ago I had a bad infection. In the past I have tried numerous methods like the yogurt tampon, ACV and this past time I first tried the garlic clove and that actually made things worse! I then read about how a few people had success with taking coconut oil for yeast infections. I've used coconut oil for various health reasons in the past but never took it consistently. I luckily had some on hand so before bed I immediately ingested 2 tablespoons mixed with OJ( tastes like candy!) The next morning, my yeast infection felt 50% better after just a couple spoonfuls of CO. I continued to take it for a few more nights and it knocked the infection right out. I couldn't believe it. I was so happy!! I would highly recommend ingesting coconut oil if you have a yeast infection. It really works and I've already told several women about this awesome remedy!"Replies
01/26/2012: Shampoo from Los Angeles, Ca replies: "Coconut oil is awesome!!! It does help with infection, and eases symptoms. It can also make sex comfortable again, and is a great Lube!! (but probably won't cure an ongoing infection. I use it in conjunction with other things. ) It smells great too!!"
[YEA] 01/02/2010: Miara from New York, Ny: "I have found a cure for my yeast infections! I have been reading earth clinic for years, and promised myself that I would never post until I found something that was worthy. I don't get yeast infections often, but when I do, it's horrendous. It quickly gets out of control, even when I abstain from all sugars, grains and anything else that would worsen the problem.
So for the last two days, I was in horrible pain, and I had this crazy idea that seemed like it would work. Take the two most powerful antifungals - Coconut oil and acidophilus, and keep them in your vagina somehow.
Here it is ladies :
1. Take a tampon (I know this sounds excruciating but wait)
2. Soak the tampon in coconut oil. Don't need to go nuts, but just enough to coat the tampon.
3. Take a tablespoon of coconut oil and put it into a cup.
4. Next, get a good probiotic( acidophilus) in capsule form and take three to four capsules, open them up and add them to the coconut oil.
5. Stir together to make a paste. Not too thick though.
6. Then coat the tampon with the paste and insert.
7. Scrape up the rest of the paste and coat the labia and just the very outside of your vagina, to relieve any discomfort.
Sit back, relax, and wait :)
I woke up this morning and my infection was gone! No more pain, AT ALL!!!!
I would suggest doing this for a few nights though, just to be extra sure it's gone.
Hope this helps!"
02/14/2010: Casslynn from Cedar Falls, Iowa replies: "Miara- I am just wondering how many living cultures are in the acidophilus you mixed with the coconut oil. I take a probiotic capsule that contains 50 billion live organisms and was wondering if one or two capsules at that strength might be enough. I suffer from chronic yeast infections, about 3 every 2 months, and just discovered the soothing effects of coconut oil about a month ago! I have also been on the candida diet (no sugars, grains, or dairy) for about 3 weeks now because I just can't handle the constant discomfort anymore. I have an infection right now, and I am trying out your recommendation! Thanks!"
[YEA] 08/10/2009: Laura from Ventnor, Nj: "I get yeast infections like crazy- I'm definitely a candida ridden person. My diet isn't terrible, yet I always get them! It may be related to my IUD- I think it gives me bartholin cysts from time to time too. I've tried all of the remedies listed here- the garlic, the yogurt on a tampon, ACV douches, peroxide douches, and everything else. The only, only thing that works for me is this: Coconut oil. I ingest a bunch of it (I eyeball it) approx 2-6 teaspoons. Over the course of about two days it's gone. It's the caprylic acid in the coconut oil. It kills yeast on contact. You can also apply directly to the source and it stops the itching and kills the yeast that way too- but definitely ingest it as the main yeast fighter. I use organic coconut oil, not the virgin one. The regular coconut oil works wonders on me, where the extra virgin coconut oil is only so-so. I put the oil in my coffee to mask the oilyness, and just drink it up. It's easiest that way. You can also put it on toast, or cook your food in it."
[YEA] 08/12/2007: Kate from Newcastle upon Tyne, uk: "Virgin coconut oil tampons stopped my vaginal yeast infections. I have found that soaking an organic cotton tampon in Virgin Coconut oil for a few minutes (non bleached, non deodorized, organic etc) and then inserting it over night for a maximum of 8 hours (the maximum time you should leave a tampon in for) brings great relief. It may take persistence and several nights for the problem to be resolved, but it is an easy, painless way to resolve an uncomfortable and sometimes persistent problem. Of course you need to get to the root of the problem itself - candida, poor diet etc - but this seems to work really well for localised infections"
[YEA] 04/12/2011: Octavia from Knoxville, Ga: "I was suffering from a Yeast Infection for several days just recently (along with a bladder infection, which I quickly cured with Ted's Sea Salt remedy - Thank you, Ted! ), and at my husband's suggestion I tried Colloidal Silver. All I did was take 2 oz. about 4 times a day and in 2 days it was GONE. For good measure I continued to take 2 oz. Twice per day for a few more days. I haven't had any silver for about a week now, and everything is back to normal. I have tried all of the pills and creams that the Dr.s have recommended in the past, to no avail, either they simply didn't work, or caused other problems and STILL didn't work. I am SO RELIEVED to have found this remedy!"
Colloidal Silver, Boric Acid
09/25/2013: Jenni from Miami, Fl: "Hi, this question is for anyone who knows. I was using colloidial silver to treat a yeast infection and uti. I was taking a lot of the silver orally (alternating between a tablespoon over the tongue and a teaspoon held under the tongue for 20 seconds and then swallowed) every hour. Ex: 4pm tbspn over tongue, 5pm tspn under tongue, 6pm tbspn over tongue for as long as I was awake. Internally I was instructed to put 3 oz of the silver solution into my vagina and let it sit there for 20 minutes. Then empty out and wait 30 minutes and then put a probiotic in. After all sorts of ups and downs with the uti and yeast and other symptoms I decided to try the boric acid suppositories. Decided not to douche with the silver tonight and only use the boric acid because I was unsure if these two methods are safe to use around the same time.
Long story short, would it be safe to let's say douche with the silver in the am, follow up with a probiotic after and then use the boric acid in the evening? Would it also be an option to douche with the silver in the evening and then maybe an hour later use boric acid? Any advice/knowledge would be appreciated:) Thank you."Replies
09/25/2013: Lloyd from Charlotte, Nc replies: "To Jenni re interaction of Colloidal Silver and Boric acid:
Any time there is a question of interaction, you can proceed cautiously by first applying a little CS to wrist and then a small amunt of Boric Acid to the same place and judge the reaction, if any. Your Boric Acid application I presume is diluted in water, correct?
I am only talking about a very small amount to first test. Then if no adverse reaction, try more but at a little higher amount. Again, if no adverse reaction try at higher amounts until you are confident that there is no adverse interaction.
Finally, when actually applying to infected area, only apply a small amount of CS first and then the BA. Next day, if no problem, increase CS a bit.
This idea is the same way you test for allergic reactions... small amounts and raising the level over a number of test applications."
09/26/2013: Timh from Ky, Usa replies: "Jenni: I have taken whole-body hot bath w/ Boric acid (also many other minerals) and also drank C.S. to treat a fungal infection, and had no appearance of a reaction. Spacing their use as you spoke of would be the wise way to go."
[YEA] 06/04/2006: Christina from Silverdale, WA: "When I have problems 'down there' as I call it, I always break out the 100% juice cranberry juice. If you're really brave you can try 100% cranberry juice straight, my sister said it cleared it right up, but tasted awful."
01/15/2008: Cal from Topeka, KS: "All throughout this article, women are douching to help rid themselves of yeast infections. This is ridiculous. Flushing water or anything else into the vagina will do nothing but force the bad bacteria further into the uterus, which can lead to worse complications. If you want to help yourself, take a daily probiotic and drink lots of water."Replies
06/14/2009: Mary from Annapolis, Maryland USA replies: "I agree -- DO NOT DOUCHE! ACV gave me slight, temporary relief from my vaginal yeast. However, the douching flushed out the productive bacteria and set me up for a RAGING vaginal bacterial infection, which required an antibiotic cream. That remedy caused a yeast infection to recur. I am now committed to an anti-yeast diet, probiotics, and anti-fungal herbal regime. I work with an experienced herbal practitioner and am 2 months into my program. I urge all with yeast issues to research systemic candida. It's a growing problem."
02/23/2013: Mark from Las Vegas, Nv replies: "This is B.S. Women have used ACV as a douche for years to maintain Vaginal health. Douching is not always bad, especiually if something gets up there that needs to be washed out. Lake water, milk (from a milk bath, anything number of situations. Don't use high pressure.
If you douche with ACV, you should also be taking probiotics either orally or vaginally. I have had girl friends cure their infections using ACV and the women in my family all used it.
The don't douch hysteria is going way overboard."
