Vomiting Cures

Can't stop throwing up? Boy, do we have a fast-working remedy! Our friend Gail from Santa Monica, CA gave us this recipe a few years ago. It's an old Ayurvedic remedy that will stop severe vomiting within minutes.

FRESH ONION JUICE

Recipe
:

1. Prepare peppermint tea and allow to cool.

2. Grate an onion and squeeze the pulp through a cheese cloth (if desperate, just use a paper towel). Make 1 Tablespoon of Fresh Onion Juice.

3. Hold your nose and swallow the onion juice.

4. Follow with just 1 Tablespoon of peppermint tea. Wait ten minutes. Take another Tablespoon of peppermint tea. Wait 15 minutes.

This remedy should stop vomiting within 15 minutes, according to Gail. The peppermint tea helps to re-hydrate you.

ACTIVATED CHARCOAL

2 YEA

[YEA]  11/28/2005: Christine from Lancaster, CA writes: "I have been using charcoal for approx 14 yrs. In our home it has been used for nausea/vomiting; diarrhea; upset stomach; belching; heart burn; gas; indigestion; poultices over painful areas on different parts of the body; pasty poultice over insect bites..over the stomach in a poultice for fevers.. As a nurse, I highly recommend it to all."

[YEA]  04/02/2009: Crista from Pekin, IL replies: "I agree with this completely. My husband just had some serious stomach issues. He normally does not vomit in any way, but on the extreme rare occasion it is never good. So this time I had just bought Activated Charcoal just to get rid of toxins and I thought it might work for this. I looked it up on this website and saw that it would work, so I gave him two capsules of Activated Charcoal. He didn't vomit or have any more diarrea, he was doing both and feeling a lot of stomach pain before I gave it to him. He didn't feel purfect afterwards, but he did stop vomiting and diarrea. By the next day he was feeling fine."

BLACK TEA

4 YEA

[YEA]  12/19/2008: Heather from APO, AE (Germany) writes: "My daughter was throwing up and could not even keep water down. I made her some black tea and added a teaspoon on raw German honey to it. She has been sipping it and the vomiting has stopped. She was throwing up so bad that nothing was coming up at all. She is also telling me that she feels so much better. I am so glad that I found this site!!!!!"

[YEA]  03/06/2009: Lynn from Gulfport, Florida replies: "Regarding the black tea for vomiting and nausea, I had a case of stomach flu that had me throwing up for four days. I couldn't stop and had the dry heaves. A friend told me to take regular tea bags (not black) and steep three of them in one cup of boiling water and sip it. It was very bitter, but it worked like a charm, and I didn't vomit after my first cup. Tea has a complicated chemistry, and some of the chemicals in tea relax the muscles and nerves."

[YEA]  03/20/2007: Kristina from Waukesha, WI writes: "Hi, my grandma used to make us drink strong black tea each time we had the flu, as it would stop vomiting and help settle the stomach. I have tried it with green tea as well and it works the same, and usually you don't need more than a few sips before it starts working. Now I don't even wait for the vomiting to start--I go straight for the tea upon first symptoms of the flu.

I have also used this remedy for severe menstrual cramps and diahrrea and those times when painful gas gets in the way of elimination. One time I even tried it for a headache and it went away. Works wonders!"

[YEA]  05/22/2009: Giuseppe from Sacramento, Ca replies: "That worked great! I am a single dad, with a 6 years old. He had been throwing up for 24 hrs, just sleep and throw up..., could not hold down anything. I was ready to take him to the doctor or emergency room when I found this site. I gave him a big spoon of raw honey that I bought a few months back from an independent honey maker, and gave him black tea. He went back to sleep, and after 1 hour he was up talking, back being himself... then I gave him another spoon and more tea. He has been playing nicely, very energetic. I can't believe that he has not had any real food for 1 day and 1/2, and just 2 spoons of raw honey got him back up and running! And I can't believe that he did not throw up, as he would vomit even a spoon of water! Thanks!!"

[YEA]  05/14/2008: Lana from Morris, New Jersey writes: "Diarrhea (ailment) and Cinnamon (cure): My boyfriend had a stomach virus and was in awful pain. He was throwing up and using the bathroom around every 5-10 minutes. It was to the point where he had nothing left to expell but water and bile. I finally convinced him to drink a tea mix I made. I used- 1 cinnamon stick, broken up with a scissor a big pinch of ground ginger pinch of ground mustard a pinch of ground cloves (or 2 whole) I let it steep from boiling to drinkable temperature. He started getting better almost instantaneously. It stopped not only the diarrhea, but also the throwing up and the incredible pain. I never saw anything work so fast!"

[YEA]  08/17/2008: Tania from Newport Beach, CA replies: "I tried 2 peppermint tea bags with a chunk of ginger, 1 tsp cinnamon powder, 1/2 tsp of clove powder and I tried cutting a small lime and adding salt and pepper and it worked after 24 hours of illness and not being able to eat anything I felt better instantly.
Thank you!"

[YEA]  09/21/2006: Anj from London, UK writes: "Cut a lemon or /lime into halves or slices, sprinkle about 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon of salt and same amount of black pepper. roast/ oven bake/direct on gas fire/ barbecue/ cover it and microwave for 40 seconds, salt and pepper side on top till bubbley juice comes out. Let it cool down but don't let it go completely cold, it should be hot. Suck with the pulp direct from the lemon slices/halves as the peel has secreted some juices that you need. Same method can be used with sour oranges or tangerines.

This recipe came from my mum who used it on all her kids as natural alternative which would not give any side effect, to cure headaches, migrains, cough and colds, flu, as well as when someone feels sick as if they want to vomit. This is a ideal alternative medicine for diabetics and ideal for everyone as you don't have to go shopping, everything you'll have in your home when you have any of these problems. All of us brothers and sisters have been using this all these years, may be it might help someone who wants to try natural alternatives which would not give them any side effects especially if they are diabetics."

GINGER

1 YEA

[YEA]  01/05/2008: Gus from Elko, nevada writes: "I have been sick with some kind of stomach virus when I found something in a pamphlet about using ginger to help cure stomach pains and cramps. I asked my mom about it and she said she had some ginger root and ginger tea I tried the tea but that just made it worse. I tried a pill with ginger root in it and the pain went away within the hour. you can get ginger root at any drug store without a persciption. Also if you are puking so much you can't take pills try some ginger ale it doesn't have as much ginger in it so it won't work as well, but it could calm your stomach enough to take a ginger pill. take one pill wait 10 minutes and take one more pill. This ginger remedy helps with nausea, really works."

08/18/2008: Tania from Newport Beach, CA replies: "I freeze Ginger Root in a ziplock baggie in my freezer and cut a bit off, microwave it for 20 seconds and squeeze it in a bottle of water or a cup of peppermint tea!"

HONEY

1 WARNING!

[YEA]  01/26/2009: Cynthia from Canton, OH, USA writes: "Our 5 y.o. was vomiting; of course water made it worse! My husband gave her honey, recommended from your site and... Walla! No more throwing up and no more tummy ache. In fact, the whole family took a teaspoon of honey as a preventative feature. thanks for the tip and so excited than an "earth" site like this is out there. Cindy"

[YEA]  03/20/2009: Sydney from Denver, Colorado replies: "Tried the honey, I think it's actually helping! I mixed about a tablespood with some decaf green tea about an hour ago, and my stomach has settled a little. I suggest it."

[YEA]  01/06/2009: Doris from Orange County, CA USA writes: "Pediatrician always tells us wait 8 hrs minimum after our child's first vomit event due to stomach flu or virus (usually caught from school). Once, after 2 days vomitting, fever spikes and the Pediatric Nurse casually says 'oh, just wait another 8-12 hours to start BRATS' (aka bread, rice, applejuice, toast, white/clear soda), we couldn't take anymore of seeing our child so weak. Mom's old recipe of a taste of honey, stopped vomits right away. Soda-pop is always way too rich, can't keep it down. For child we give honey, then honey in hot water with a tiny pinch apple pie spices as other blogger mentions in this page - cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. For adult, we use same or hubby likes honey in hot water with 'chicken soup herbs' - I use parsley, sage, rosemary, thyme, sweet basil, or thinned chicken broth (same). Works great now, and don't get fever-bouts or dehydrated or weak like Dr's orders."

[WARNING!]  01/06/2009: Angela from Grosse Pointe, MI replies: "Hello everyone, thanks for this great site!

Please make sure not to feed honey to children under 12 months of age. Honey may be infected with a bacteria that causes Infant Botulism and the consequences may be fatal. Here is a link from the Mayo Clinic regarding this subject: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/infant-botulism/HQ00854"

05/24/2009: Suzette from Ponchatoula, Louisiana replies: "Correction:

It's BRATT diet Bananas - Rice - Apple - Toast - Tea. You should never give soda for vomiting and everything in the BRATT diet should be closest to it's purest form with no additives, even salt and sugar, so plain cooked rice, plain toast with no butter, 100% juice, etc. I can attest to the fact that it works very well with diahrrea but Ive never heard of using it for vomiting.

My 6yo has been throwing up since midnight and it is now 8:02 am, she's thrown up 7 times and it's now just bile. I will try the BRATT diet and if ti DOESN'T work I'll write back. :)"

[YEA]  03/05/2008: Michelle from West Palm Beach, Florida writes: "Raw honey (Garden of Life is my favorite) preferably organic, Raw Honey (unprocessed) helps get your energy back, kills germs of all types, halts diarrhea and intestinal cramps, (including firming stools) helps coughs and lung congestion and aids in the growth of healthy intestinal bacteria. It is a good source of B vitamins and minerals containing potassium, calcium and magnesium. It is quite literally the "perfect food" and can sustain life all on its own! It does not take any energy to digest it because it is predigested form from the bees. They do all the work, we reap all the benefits!

My eight-year-old got the flu, I gave him Raw Honey, 1 heaping teaspoon as soon as he finished vomiting, then nothing for three hours, unless they want more honey. He vomited twice total, and was completely well in a matter of hours! My husband got it, would not eat the honey, has been vomiting for two days STRAIGHT, can't keep food down! Then my four-year-old started vomiting. I gave him 1 tsp. honey, he stopped vomiting and ate honey about 1 tsp every two hours. He felt so much better in four hours, he (against my warning) ate Goldfish crackers and drank a Capri Sun! He vomited one more time and then by dinner, was completely well and ate a light dinner!! Amazing! So, now it's Tuesday, my ten-year-old gets it. Fever, body aches, headache, nausea! Wow, of course, I get the RAW HONEY, I give her a nice big tsp., she mixes it with water (she hates honey but has learned her lesson) I keep her home from school and send her to bed with a fever and no medicine. My husband calls, he is leaving work sick because he can't stop vomiting! Third day, he is in bed all day, eats nothing, and feels terrible. He comes home and sees our daughter, all better in a matter of two hours! (I think we caught it early enough, she is at school celebrating her Birthday!) He eats the honey! Today he is back to work, amazed at the benefits of the honey. You will be too. Special note: My six-year-old (who has autism) and I take the most supplements, eat mostly organic, don't drink soda, etc. we are the only ones in the family who didn't get this FLU!"

RICE

1 YEA

[YEA]  12/05/2008: Eva from Fort Worth, TX USA writes: "Rice is the best way to stop throwing up. No other remedy is as simple and absolutely effective as this one.

Rinse around 4 tbsp of rise and bring to boil with 2 cups of water. Add water if the rice becomes too dry. Drink the rice water at first very slowly, otherwise make your stomach turn again. Rice is very effective for this because it is packed with electrolytes, which regulate are responsible for regulating your stomach. If no rice is available, Gatorade or any other water with electrolytes will work, however it will be relatively heavier for your sensitive stomach to take.

Above all soothe your stomach, do not feed it dramatic, heavy elements or it will turn again, remember, there is a reason why it got to this point in the first place!"

TURMERIC

1 YEA

[YEA]  04/20/2009: Kim from Gainesville, Georgia, USA writes: "i was just finishing a water fast done through 2 days straight, but the night before i was going to break the fast, i got so incredibly nauseous while sleeping. so nauseous in fact, that i actually dreamt i was in the first stages of pregnancy again, telling people "it's just morning sickness." when i woke up, i could barely move for fear of throwing up. i know that vomiting can be a part of fasting as the body is cleansed and detoxified, but this was ridiculous. i could barely move and even lying still i felt so sick.

finally i decided to google my symptoms and found that all of these people on this site really liked this turmeric cure. i thought how weird but i was ready to try anything. i'd already thrown up 4 times upon waking from 7 am - 10 am and i had my 3 small children to take care of, so i was desperate to feel well. i did 1 tsp in about 6 oz of warm water and just the smell threw me off, but i persisted and after only a couple of sips, my tummy felt settled down. i thought "weird that it would work so fast, but let's see..." so i drank the whole cup and about 15 minutes afterward i felt well enough to get the kiddos breakfast!! i even had an appetite again so i ate some simple things and now two hours later, i feel absolutely amazing!! i plan on telling everyone i know about this remedy and i plan to continue it 2x/day for today and tomorrow just to be on the safe side :D"

EC: Thanks, Kim. Where are you reading on EC that people are taking turmeric for nausea or vomiting? It's not listed as a cure on either of those 2 pages!

WATER TO INDUCE VOMITING

1 YEA

[YEA]  07/04/2008: Donna from Janesville, WI writes: "When your vomiting, a lot of people think that they should drink a lot of water to replenish the body....BIG mistake! All you will do is vomit more. Drinking Gatoraid or something like it will stay down.

When your child is sick though, and you KNOW they need to throw up, give them a cup of water. It does the trick for my kids who will do every thing in their power not to throw up! PS be smarter than me and have that bucket ready! lol~ donna"
