TED'S REMEDY READER FEEDBACK

01/29/2009: Henry from Tijuana, Baja California: "i think that the papules and pustules and inflamacion of the skin in rosacea are caused by the demodex mites, and the redness and the broken capilaries are caused by an nanoinsect not yet identifided that is causing the redness and the broken capilaries not to heal, so when you use borax an peroxide hidrogen in your skin you are killing these two agents organisms, so maybe thats why they say that rosacea is caused by an weakened inmuned system, beacuse you body is not able to kill this agents, so maybe if you give strength and optimized your inmuned system, you body will be able to kill these organisms, and the way to do that its taking a suplement called "cats claw" (uncaria tomentosa) that is known for its antiinflamatory properties and to strength your inmuned system, you can search by yourselfs to see all the benefits that it has, and maybe that could be a good alternative of treating rosacea or it could be the cure. The other one that im thinking is the blood of the cocodrile aplied topicaly to the face since its a new discovery that the blood of the cocodrile are much better and extremely potencial that any antibiotic that exists and you can search in the internet the news of the potencial of the benefits killing these agents, so because of the potencial that it has killing all these agents it could be another alternative to rosacea."

[YEA] 01/02/2009: ROBERT HENRY from TEN MILE, TN: "I have been treated for Rosacea by several Dermatologists for some dozen years and all for naught. Since my Rosacea is restricted to my nose, I concluded that it is indeed a problem with Demodex mites. It has been a long hard struggle as the critters are laying eggs constantly and you got a new crop to kill off constantly. Ted, says it is a nano-insect. I got no clue, but do think it is a critter of some kind. I am not pretty, but look pretty good 300 yards off now that my nose is not full of yuck bumps.
The formula I came up with is borax, HP, and tea tree oil and I mix this formula in a coke bottle cap and spread it on and in my nose morning and night. Since the critters live in you hair folicals , I also spread the solution in my nostrials. Don't look for a quick cure. If your Rosacea is from mites, then it is a long process. 6 months to a year."
Replies02/16/2009: Mahreen from Chicago, IL. USA replies: "Hello Henry, can you please tell me quantities to be mixed, and if this mixture is stored in the refrigerator or it would not matter and for how long? I am not sure what concentration of HP one need to use for this remedy and I am also unsure about the borax, is this the borax used for cleaning purposes?
I would appreciate your reply and also for any of the readers who could suggest me where to find the HP if is different from the one we find at drugstores. I was told that there is a bacteria "like rosacea" but I never got the medical term for it because the Dr. does not know it. I have used all sort of prescribed meds. for it including topicals as Retina. Nothing seems to work. After my renal transplant (1 yr. ago) my Immune system got so weak so this bacteria is attacking my nose hard. I feel so embarrassed to go out with my red nose with lot of bumps specially when they get white. Thanks in advance for any helpful advise. Mahreen"
02/22/2009: Robert Henry from Ten Mile, TN replies: "Hi U Mahreen form Chicago...... I'm a retired Chemical Engineer and have learned not to take meaurements too seriously. I feel your pain because everyone looks at an ugly nose. If you do demodex mites on the web, you will see that they live off the hair folicles in face. You see folks whose eye lashes are red as a beet. That's our mite friends. The process of killing off these mites is like killing the insects in your house. You can kill most of the adults but eggs in various stages are coming on. You just have to keep on keeping on. Finally, you will begin to see progress.
Ok, here goes ..... I just put borax in a coke cap. add a few drops of tea tree oil and then add plain ole Hydrogen Peroxide. Mix and apply to the outside of your nose and also inside. Do this at least twice a day. This mixture will harden and you will have to start over. Laundry Borax is fine as you are not ingesting it. I spent 10 years with the Dermatologists and they did no good except to kill off all my good bowel flora with anti-biotics and leave me with Candidia. But that's another story. Do not take anti-biotics for this condition. It will help temporarily but will leave you in a lot worse shape healthwise. I also use The Face Doctor's soap which was developed by a China Military doctor. I made little progress until I added Tea Tree Oil to my program."
02/25/2009: Peter from Dublin, Ireland replies: "Robert Henry,
I have been taking borax internally for five days, as well as applying it externally with water at night. I am trying to eliminate persistant red cheeks. So far, i can notice the redness subsiding. Hopefully, it will all eventually subside. I've applied tea tree oil topically for a month in the past. I think this helped somewhat. I want to add hydrogen peroxide to the borax solution i apply to my face, but i am afraid that the H202 will cause my skin to bleach or change colour. One thing i have started to do, though, is apply raw honey to my face before showering. Raw honey is a rich source of H202. Also, the only H202 i could find in a chemist is 6%. I wonder is that okay to use."
06/25/2009: Tricia from Ireland replies: "Borax and peroxide equal measurements + 2 drops tea tree oil. 1/8 tsp borax in ltr water for rosacea. Only using 4 days so too soon to tell re cure but definite improvement. My question is - Is there a major difference between sea salt and himalayan rock salt when using borax and salt to de-flourinate tap water?"
EC: From Wikipedia:
Himalyan Salt Mineral Composition
"In 2003 the Bavarian consumer protection agency Bayerisches Landesamt für Gesundheit und Lebensmittelsicherheit analyzed 15 specimens of Himalaya salt sold in Germany and could detect a total of 10 different minerals: sodium and chloride (98%) and other minerals. This agency states that these salts are coming from Pakistan and can, like all salts, cause hypertension (high blood pressure).[1]
German public television broadcaster ZDF presented the analyzed chemical composition of Himalaya-salt who states that the specimen contained 95-96% sodium chloride that was contaminated with 3% polyhalite (gypsum) and small amounts of 10 other different minerals. [2]."
06/26/2009: Tricia from Ireland replies: "Thanks EC. Great info. Hi to Robert Henry. It was your original instructions that I have been following. You were probobly the most clear instructions on the rosacea page and by saying that you didn't follow exact measurenments gave me confidence to attempt this process. I was really terrified that I would screw it up by getting it wrong. Could you let me know how long it took to notice a major difference (one that others might notice.). I saw quite a difference the first night but only minute differences since. I do know it is a long journey to be completly rid of mite and egg. Thank you again for your clear instructions."

[WORKED TEMPORARILY] 09/15/2008: Marie from St Louis , MO: "When I initially tried Ted's borax and peroxide remedy it cleared my rosacea right away. -- But -- It came back. -- My Natural Health Doctor says that is because the REAL cause of Rosacea is a Weakened Immune System.
She says that the mites are a "normal" part of life, and that they cause no symptoms in people with healthy immune systems.
I can believe that, as I have been a dog breeder for many years, and know that dogs get the symptoms of demodectic mange when they are going through periods of stress.
Life in this system is continually stressful for most of us. I guess we must try to relieve that stress to the best of our ability. Also, diet plays a big part in healing our immune systems, so I guess we need to adopt the theory "don't eat junk food" (if you want to be healthy.)"

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 06/25/2008: Kate from Pasadena, CA: "TED..Thank you very much for your advice. You provide a great service to many people.
I am a 49 year old menopausal female. I have had rosacea for about 9 years, but mostly just had redness and ruddy skin with broken capillaries. But about 3 months ago I started breaking out with this little bumps on my chin and upper lip. I avoid direct sun, but it gets much worse after any sun exposure. It looks terrible, like acne, but its not. I started your remedy 25 days ago. It has been like a roller coaster, seems to be getting better, then not, but overall I think it is slowing working. Initially I had a hard time alkalizing. I got some test strips and the lowest ph measure is 6.8, which was an orange color, and I couldn't even get close to that, so I must have been very acid. I tried the baking soda twice a day and it was barely helping. Finally after about 10 days, I was able to find the washing soda. Once I used the carbicarb formula, it went up to 8.0 in two days! So now I do that once a day to keep at about 7.4. Then I do 1/2 teaspoon of borax and 1/2 teaspoon of peroxide in a liter of water which I drink throughout the day. I also do the topical borax/peroxide every night. It makes my skin very dry and is peeling. What else can I use for moisturizer and exfoliation that won't interfere with treatment? My skin is definitely getting smoother, but still a lot of redness. Lavender oil does not help either. In fact, anything I put on my skins makes it immediately deep red in the rosacea area. Also, a peculiar thing is happening. In the morning with a 10x magnified mirror, I look at my skin very closely. These little white "pin heads" are surfacing. With a slanted tweezer I pull them out and they come out very easy. They are white with a fine root-like body, about 1/8 to 1/2 inch long. They are not normal white heads. Could they be these nanoinsects? Or just my pores clearing out? This is only happening is the areas of the rosacea.
I look forward to your advice.
Thank you, Kate"
07/30/2008: AKR from Jersey City, New Jersey replies: "Hi Kate,
Will you please let us know where you bought the washing soda from, and what brand? Many thx.
Also, I would like to learn more about your carbicarb experience. Are you still continuing it? Is it still benefitting you as much as it did initially? Any side effects?
The reason for my curiosity is that I have been using baking soda for some time now, but only with mediocre success. On the downside, my insomnia has worsened. So, I decided to do some research on the net. I saw a study that showed that baking soda alone could cause brain acidosis. Of course, these studies are inconclusive, and you can always find other studies that show the opposite. Nonetheless, the studies seemed to be more favorable for carbicarb than baking soda. Hence, my curiosity in your experience with carbicarb vs. baking soda. Many thx.
Sincerely,
AKR"
08/04/2008: Kate from Pasadena, CA replies: "Answer to AKR: You can find Arm & Hammer Washing Soda at most supermarkets where laundry detergents are located. Yes, I continue to use 1/4 teaspoon of both, morning and night. I just monitor my PH and adjust accordingly if my PH gets too high... guess it depends on my diet too. But it definately works better than baking soda alone. Tastes really bad, so use just a small amount of water and get it down in a couple of gulps, follwed by a big glass of water. I have had no negative side effect either. I sleep better and my husband says I am "calmer" now, so I tell him he should do it then!
I continue to use the borax/peroxide treatments for my rosacea. It is getting better, but is taking a long time."

04/28/2008: Peter from Newcastle upon Tyne, UK: "Hi Ted,
You sound like a knowledgeable fellow so perhaps I am wrong and you are right, however I took some time to find out that baking soda is what we in the UK call Bicarbonate of soda AND Borax is also what we call Bicarbonate of Soda. Baking powder is what we call Cream of Tarter. So as you can imagine your article on treating Rosacea with Borax and Baking Powder is somewhat confusing. Below is one of the articles I tracked down to clarify the terms:
What is Baking Powder and Baking Soda?
Baking Soda is pure Sodium Bicarbonate, also called Bicarbonate of Soda (NaHCO3). It is a white crystalline alkali which reacts by effervescing (fizzing) when it comes into contact with acids, thus producing gasses, namely carbon dioxide. Because of this chemical reaction, it is often used in fizzy drinks and antacid remedies and it's precisely this reaction which facilitates the rising action in baked goods.
Baking Powder is more complex. It is composite of Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda), one or more acid salts such as Cream of Tartar (Tartaric Acid), Sodium Aluminium Sulphate, Calcium Acid Phosphate plus a drying agent such as cornflour and the exact mix determines whether it is "Single" or "Double" acting. The difference between baking soda, single and double acting baking powders, is when the chemical reactions actually take place, and is explained below. However, the rising principal is the same in that a chemical reaction produces carbon dioxide bubbles which expand through the cooking mixture.
TAKEN FROM: www.recipes4us.co.uk/Specials and Holidays/Baking Powder and Soda Origin Uses Recipes.htm"
Replies04/30/2008: Karen from Glasgow, UK replies: "Hi Peter yeah your right about the comfusion with the bicarbonate of soda however this is not the same as Borax here or anywhere else. As you pointed out bicarb has the chemical formula of NaHCO3 however Borax or sodium tetraborate is Na2B4O7.H2O this compound contains boron and is a common ingredient in detergents and is food addative E285 (banned in some contries)."
05/12/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Response to Peter from Newcastle upon Tyne, UK's post regarding my Rosacea remedies: The recipes called for Sodium bicarbonate. You can't use baking powder, which has cream of tartar and can be a real problem if baking powder were used in autistics, ADD, ADHD, and other similar conditions since these people have high levels of potassium tartrate in their system. A borax is sodium tetraborate and it's never a sodium bicarbonate. Even sodium carbonate, or a mixture of it is called differently in the one the Netherlands product, calling it "soda crystals". Some people asked me can baking powder be used since it fizzes also and the answer is no, because it is the bicarbonates that is needed by the body to control the pH, not the tartrates, and aluminum is something I would never use, and even calcium acid phosphates should not be used either because phosphorous is already high in the diets. Adding baking powder into foods or even as a remedy is unhealthy in general."

Also y drink a Lt. of water with 1/8 of borax 3 times a week. The firs week seems everything was going to be great, this week it look like Rosacea is coming back.I"m doing something wrong or it's normal? Why Rosacea is almost non existant in Thailand? what Ted think about? it's the diet? Please post this question on the site"
Replies04/18/2008: Samuel Guevara from Taipei, Taiwan replies: "Well... i was too optimistic. The Borax and HP have not really finish my rosacea problem even with the new TED protocol which i started on my last 10 days. I will take a month rest and start again trying to be very careful with the new protocol and see what happen then."

[YEA] 03/29/2008: Devon from Johnson, VT: "I have been patiently waiting for them (rosacea breakouts) to return as to not have my current conviction be in vain, however, the topical 1% H2O2/Saturated Borax solution applied to my face seems to have given me the most consistent and real cure of my Rosacea in 20 years.
I am 39 years of age and started to have the breakouts off and on since the age of early 20's. When I discovered topical cortisone it was the only thing that had helped up until that point. After using the cortisone off and on for more than 10 years I finally realized that not only did the topical steroids have side effects, but that I was unfortunately experiencing them: thinning facial skin and broken blood vessels-- in other parts of my face where the Rosacea didn't bother me. Although that could be side effects from long term Rosacea breakouts too I know.I would usually get the rosacea breakouts around the eye brows and adjacent sides of the nose. The Blood Vessels are on the upper outside cheek areas. One day this year I was determined to stop the cortisone but I knew that my face was addicted to it and it would be hard to it and it would be hard to stop because of the strange mind-body'connection to having something that I knew could work temporarily to get me through the self vanity crisis of facing fellow employees in the work place-- not to mention nothing else had ever worked!!! The feeling of the slight stinging/flushing sensation of the breakouts was the most noticeable characteristic that the cortisone would alleviate after a day or two. And then I would patiently wait for the redness and swelling to subside. I ended up ordering some florasone-- steroid alternative with a base ingredient of Cardiospermum-- hoping, and trying to convince myself this would be the answer-- while gradually trying to ween myself off of the Cortisone. Unfortunately, the Florasone just bought me a little time before sure enough, the Rosacea breakouts would return. Sometime around this time during my continued research and frustration, I discovered the idea of Demodex Mites being a possible cause for Rosacea which led me to this site and the Topical Borax cure. By the way, I haven't yet had the courage to try the internal version but that is definitely on the upcoming summer healing agenda. To make a long story short, one application of the Borax/H2O2 solution over night gave me successful relief for almost a week, enough to give some hope. I never really noticed the mites running like mentioned can happen; but I can say now, I have applied the solution three or four times on entire face and scalp (even eye lids-- no problem)-- usually spaced out by a week. My condition seems to be gone.
!!! It is gone!!! And now that my face has weaned mostly from the cortisone (haven't used it in 2 months), my face seems happy to receive an organic coconut oil moisturizing session during the interim between what is now a weekly Borax schedule that I am trying to follow. Interestingly I noticed that the condition seems to gradually attempt to return in-between treatments, but that returning has gotten longer and longer; this leads me to believe the Mite life cycle is close to broken in the epidermis. I have also added Tea Tree oil to my Coconut Oil and my face seems to like it a lot as along as the Tea Tree concentration is not to high in proportion to the Coconut Oil. Also, my face used to breakout when applying any kind of oily moisturizer, but now it is starting to like the CC. I can't tell you how empowering it is to get to the bottom of an elusive 20 year half-my-life condition, even if it is just Rosacea. By the way, for those that find the Borax solution to be very drying, I accidentally discovered that cutting the concentration of Borax down, in half or so, can make the drying effect less and one can still receive the benefits, and just apply it more often. Good Luck!"

[YEA] 12/30/2007: Teresa from Sumner, WA: "re: dermodetic mites on face. BORAX and PEROXIDE. Thank you Ted for your wonderful postings. You are truly the answer to peoples' prayers. I have been to many doctors and was told that what I had was acne and' folliculitus. I read your cures and decided to try it since nothing the doctors gave me (antibiotics, steroid creams and even Accutane) have helped. I thought it couldn't be that simple but it was. So to all the skeptics give it a try (borax and peroxide) You are truly an honest man and compassionate. Thank you"

[YEA] 10/28/2007: Lynn from Grand Rapids, MI: "re: demodex mites/rosacea -- I am currently in the process of ridding my face of these nasty mites. I can attest to the fact that they really do move. I first put the borax solution on my cheeks to test it and all of the red spots moved to my chin the next day. It was incredibly freaky! I have felt them move to my eyes, nose ears and scalp at various times. Now there are a few spots showing up on my ankles as I fight to kill them all! I am determined to win this battle thanks to this awesome website and my new hero "Ted"!
I have ingested the borax several times now with no ill effects at all. I was quite leary at first, but I knew that everything else Ted had stated had proven to be true- so I took a leap of faith. I am so glad I did! Now I just need to stay focused and disciplined to follow through on the routine. Thank you so much for your help. You are making a huge difference in the lives of many people."

[YEA] 10/17/2007: Kristy from Lansing, Michigan: "Hi...I was just reading the Borax page to a friend of mine and saw something a little startling in the testimony by Julie from New York dated 10/12/07. She writes that she used 1/8 of a tablespoon. The dosages I've read have said 1/8 to 1/4 of a teaspoon. I don't know if it's enough of a difference to matter but I thought I should bring it to your attention so you could figure it out. Thanks!"
EC: Thank you, Kristy!'You are right -- the correct dosage is 1/8th teaspoon, not tablespoon!

[YEA] 10/12/2007: Julie from New York, NY: "I left feedback for borax saying that it worked for my rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis. It worked initially but it came back today. So I detract my initial claims in the feedback I left yesterday. Thanks."
RepliesTed from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Borax was not taken internally later on of 1/8 teaspoon in one liter of drinking waer and only the borax and peroxide was applied externally. That's probably why it didn't work. Of course, getting the pH to 7 is still important. Dietary sugars and acid forming food is what is causing the seborrheic dermatitis."

[YEA] 10/12/2007: Julie from New York, NY: "I have been struggling with seborrheic dermatitis on my face for 5 years. I have tried everything - drastic diet changes, candida elimination, probiotics, apple cider vinegar, topical steroids, msm sulfur, betaine hydrochloride, pancreatic enzymes, vitamin C, oil of oregano, flax oil, etc etc etc. A year and a half ago, I also developed perioral dermatitis and ocular rosacea. I read about borax and I decided to give it a try, taking 1/8 a tablespoon of borax in a liter of water for 3 days straight. After the third day, things were definitely changing but not noticeably better. I then decided to try to use borax topically. I combined a 1/2 tablespoon of borax with some hydrogen peroxide mixed with 50% water and I put it on my face then rinsed it off after about 30 seconds. It worked! My face feels as smooth as it did when I was a child, and my ocular rosacea is gone too. I didn't even remember what it was like to have normal feeling skin on my face with no rough patches, flaking, or redness. And I can't believe my eyes are back to their normal shape! I am so relieved. I feel and look like myself again for the first time in years. It seems miraculous. I am so so so grateful. What an excellent site. I suppose my problem was demodex skin mites, and the borax/hydrogen peroxide combo has eliminated them. I hope my experience will help someone else.
THANK YOU."

TURMERIC

[QUESTION] 05/13/2010: Pat from Athens, Al, Usa: "I'm interested in the effects of using turmeric for my skin problems. I have adult rosacea type acne and melesma. The acne seems to be the worst. I am fair skined so a topical use would make me yellow for sure. I bought some capsules but I'm not sure how many to take and how often I should take them to have any effect on my skin and I'm also wondering how long it might be before I might see any results - especially for the acne. Thank You."

[YEA] 12/03/2007: Alexandra from Bay Area, California: "I began getting increased trouble with acne rosacea flares (this is quite a different condition from acne vulgaris/teenagers acne). The flares were happening despite my already taking fish oil and an antibiotic ointment from the dermatologist did not help much. Then, I read in the news that acne rosacea is caused by a build up of inflammatory by products in the skin.
At once, I thought of using turmeric. I mixed turmeric spice with water and dabbed it on my flare spots. I had to scrub hard to remove it next day as it stains the skin, but 3 days later, my flare spots were gone. I take 1 teaspoon of turmeric in water each day, internally.
Then, I had to have a dental procedure where they had to do a lot of digging around in the gum to install a temporary crown. I was told my gums would feel sore and to take some ibuprofen. Instead, I swirled turmeric in my mouth after brushing my teeth, letting it reach all my gums, then swallowed it. I did this every night for the next 3 weeks. I had no gum pain at all and when I returned to have the crown installed, the dentist was amazed at how healthy my gums were. I told him I'd used turmeric.
Warning---turmeric stains white cloth and clothing, and it will probably stain artificial dental implants and dentures. But if you have all your teeth and want something extra for healthy gums, turmeric is amazing stuff. Warning..it may constipate in considerable dosages so if you have to use a lot of it, increase both fluid and fiber intake."

[YEA] 01/04/2009: George from Laguna Hills, Ca: "I have had a red rash on my face (rosea) that comes and goes for the past 25 or 30 years. Recently, it's become worse and even appeared to be infected. I had been using medicated creams, but that was not working anymore. I found a rosea cure on this site only last week using vitamin C and L-Lysine. It worked and my rash was gone in a few days. Rather than 4000 mg. of each a day, the dose i used was 1500 mg. vitamin C and 1500 mg. L-Lysine three times a day."
Replies11/29/2009: Nicky from Auckland, New Zealand replies: "Hi Are you still taking the Vit C and Lysine? Or did you stop after the Rocasea cleared? Thanks"
[YEA] 02/29/2012: Onyx from Doha, Qatar replies: "Vitimin C worked wonders for my mild rosacea, sensitive skin and allergies. It was cleared in about a week or so. I can also confirm the amount I took was about 4000mg a day. After clearing it up I haven't been consistent in taking the vitamin C as regulary and only take about 2000mg when I remember to, overall it's kept the condition at bay but if I feel my skin getting sensitive again, I go back onto 4000 mg a day and it clears things up again."

[YEA] 12/26/2008: Karen from Atlanta, Georgia, USA: "Lysine and Vitamin C cured rosacea in 2 days. I've had Rosacea for years. Whenever I quit drinking coffee my Rosacea will disappear in 7 days. However I have had a hard time quitting coffee. My face was sore and continually red.I don't have any noticable enlarged veins from Rosacea. I tried 4 grams each of Lysine and Vitamin C in one dose. Nothing happened. The next day I tried it in divided doses. It worked within 12 hours..Try it. Try a higher dose if this amount doesn't work. Vitamin C alone won't work."
Replies12/27/2008: Emily from Martintown, Ontario replies: "I have Rosasea. Your treatment is not clear to me. How exactly do you apply the treatment with lysine and Vitamin C. (on the top of the face?) "
EC: Taken internally, not applied to the skin...

[YEA] 09/18/2007: Louise from Ocean Grove, Australia: "I have had broken capillaries on my face and neck since I was in my teens. Recently I read that broken capillaries anywhere on the body could be a sign of heart disease as they show that smaller capillaries in the body are under stress and possibly blocked with plaque. Since I have a family history of heart disease (mother, grandmother, grandfather and two great aunts) I started taking 6 grams of vitamin c and 3 grams of lysine daily. This is the basic Pauling protocol for the prevention of arteriosclerosis. It has been three weeks since I started taking this and the thread veins on my face and down near my ankles have nearly disappeared. Also my feet are warmer. Both of these supplements can be bought cheaply in bulk powder form, so for anyone who has a family history of heart disease or broken capillaries this may well be worth trying. For the record, I have taken large doses of vitamin c, complete with biovflavanoids and rutin, for years. The vitamin c by itself has never helped. It was only after I added the lysine that they virtually disappeared."
Replies11/22/2009: Julie from Arlington, Ma replies: "Thanks so much for this information about Lysine and Vitamin C. I have alot of red facial flushing and broken capillaries. The laser treatments have not helped. I'm trying the vitamin C and Lysine now but curious about what form of Vitamin C and Lysine you take. I'm wondering if the Chewable Vitamin C tablets are irritating my skin. Are you taking chewable or a tablet? The Lysine I gound has garlic and other ingredients as well. I may return it and buy a tablet with just Lysine. At 49 I am wondering if the change in hormones is effecting the roscaea? I have also added Evening Primrose oil.."
07/01/2011: Karen from Alpharetta, Ga. replies: "Sometimes I have taken quality tablets of estrogen when I had a flare-up of rosacea. The estrogen greatly reduces the flushing soon after I take it. Cutting coffee out altogether, also has nearly eradicted my rosacea and I before it started. Vitamin C and Lysine work too."

VITAMIN D

[YEA] 05/16/2009: Pam from Santa Fe, New Mexico: "Rosacea and Vitamin D
Have had mild rosacea for a year with broken capillaries on checks. Condition worsened considerably this past winter with pustules within red swellings appearing on face and neck in new places almost daily. I wondered why my skin was calm, with no redness, when I got up in the morning. I read a blog about Vit. D helping rosacea. Hmmm, I took my 1000 IU of Vit. D at night; perhaps that was why my skin was calm in the a.m., I reasoned. I started taking 1000 IU Vit. D when I got up in the morning as well as before bed. I noticed significant positive results immediately. My skin is almost entirely cleared up in one week, even the broken capillaries and redness in the cheeks has subsided. But the best thing is that the oozing pores and pustules have almost completely ceased. I still have maybe one pustule appearing per day, but it's isolated, and not like before where a 1/4" round area of my skin became very red with numerous oozing pores and one pustule within that area that took several days to calm down. I can't believe how easy this was. I'd read that rosacea is worsened by sunlight, so during this past winter I wouldn't go outside without sunscreen and a hat. My rosacea got much worse during this time period. I think I just got low in Vit. D. I'm 58 so that lower ability to absorb Vit. D may be part of it, too."

ZINC OXIDE

[YEA] 09/04/2011: Dina from Forest Hills, New York: "I wanted to write in to thank Carol who posted about the Zinc Oxide. I recently started using this (actually it's my baby's diaper rash cream from Aveeno with 13% zinc oxide) and it's substantially helped with the rosacea. Thank you for finally helping me when the doctors couldn't! What a relief to get my face back. Anyone who thinks that their rosacea was caused by sun damage should try it."
Replies[YEA] 04/22/2012: Olddude from Chattanooga, Tn, Usa replies: "Ok, I was in Wal Mart and was reading different ingredients in Equate Diaper Rash Ointment, and it contains `13 percent Zinc Oxide. I tried olive oil, Vaseline mixture, but to no avail. Today I applied the zinc oxide product( diaper rash ointment ). In 8 hrs my face showed signs of healing and redness disappearing. I will continue using it for my rosacea. ( I have also used the homemade yogurt and honey mix and I will still use it, love the cold yogurt and honey mix, a real feel good feeling and it also clears redness, but the zinc was faster and it is healing my face.I have read a lot on here on remedies for face skin problems and this site has me reading ingredients and learning the definitions of chemicals in our shampoos, face creams and so called factory made meds. Its a continuing education to say the least.
Inactive ingredients in Equate diaper rash ointment: Aloe barbadensis leaf juice( wow, now thats a mouth full, lol, beeswax, dimethicone, fragrance, magnesium sulfate, methylparaden, microcrystaline wax, ( another mouth full), plus 8 more 10 dollar words. I will not give a spelling test on the ingredients, because I can't spell them. I will google them and probably scare myself to death, but at least the rosacea will be gone, yea."

ZNP BAR

[YEA] 01/11/2011: Aubrey from Royston, Georgia: "I have had rosacea for a number of years. I thought I had completely cured it and had no problems for several years after using something called ZNP bar. This is an over the counter bar of soap that has zinc pyrithione in it and is intended for use in seborrhoeic dermatitis. I have not used it in several years and the rosacea appears to be slowly coming back but I have been free of symptoms for at least 4 years with no treatment at all. Use this soap to wash your face 2 to 3 times a day. It will make your skin red the first day... Just keep on using it and that will go away. I used this almost every day for several years... It works... Keep the bar dry when not in use because it will become soft and get used up faster. Do not scrub the skin, just wet the bar in your hands and apply to the face and rinse a time or two with cold water."
Replies02/07/2011: Carol from Hudson, Fl replies: "HI, CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHERE YOU BUY THIS SOAP? THANK YOU"
02/14/2011: Aubrey from Royston, Ga. replies: "The ZNP Bar soap is made by Stiefel labatories... I have no finicial interest in this company and do not sell this product... I have used it well over 10 years with great success.. Also works exceptionally well for acne.. My friend's son just got off of daily tetracycline and has cleared his face using this soap alone..
I started back using it a couple weeks ago when the rosecia flaired up and came back very badly all of a sudden.. Skin it totally clear once again.. Best thing I have ever used for it... Your local drug store can get it for you and keep it in stock... It is over the counter but you do not find it stocked in many drug stores unless you ask them to stock it for you.. a bar will last for several months as long as you keep it dry between applications..."
