04/15/2011: Troy from Akron, Oh: "Please help I keep getting severe facial rashes I was on prednisone and it cleared up but it keeps coming back I do not want to keep taking steroids. please help I stopped wearing makeup thought that was the cause need something to stop this."
Replies04/16/2011: Nasira from Springfield, Ma/usa replies: "Troy from OH.. My face and neck arms now have a red itchy rash that is also scaly in places my answer was "chest rub"... Just last night I ran to the drugstore because I could not take it anymore and ask the pharmasist for help.... She asked me the standard questions... Did I eat anything new, change anything ( detergent , perfume etc... ) the same questions I have asked myself... She brought me to the hydrocortizone and the benedryl creams.... When I said "been there.. Done that" she had no real suggestions for me.... Just like I thought... So I purchased what I orginally came to get a product that worked of course.... A product that I read on a blog by a person who heard it from someone else... "Chest Rub" made with 4. 8% camphor calmed my itchy skin.. I found it on a bottom shelf and was suprised to find the price almost doubled from a few years ago when I needed it... It did not cure me... but the point is my body is fighting off something and western medicine is a disappointment to me...Sorry for it being long but I need to vent... How many of us go to the doctor... they say it is one thing and give you something that does not work and then you go back and they call it something else give you something else...
If this sounds familiar you are not alone: itchy skin, black or white grains coming out of your skin ( and more)... Everyone thinks your crazy (not sure if it is morgellens)... When your back is to the wall... Investigate... MMS.. (research and follow directions).... Not cured but better... ; )"
06/20/2011: Jan from St. Paul, Mn replies: "After a good long while, I figured out that hand-shaped grey rash on my face came from touching it often while using a dirty computer keyboard at work. It went away when I stopped doing that - also noticed all the office keyboards were disgusting."

11/17/2010: Chris from Albuquerque, Nm: "Hello,
I am looking for some assistance with a bothersome heat/and or friction rash that appears on my right hand. This rash is caused by my racqueball glove. I have tried playing without one, but it compromises my grip. I have many gloves and change them and wash them frequently. I have tried several ideas to include powder, lotion, applying a cotton ball between the glove and my hand. The rash comes back. It does respond to hydrocortizone, but I don't want to use that all the time. An allergist had told me about someone who did not react to the allergy tests because she was wearing a lotion made with grapeseed extract. Can anyone make any recommendations for a topical solution. Perhaps something preventive to preculde this problem. Thanks!! "
11/18/2010: Lily from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia replies: "Hi Chris, I find that tea tree oil can be helpful for some rashes. It might be worth a try. Lily."
03/06/2012: Kay from Destin, Fl replies: "You may want to microwave ( 2 minutes) and/or freeze (overnight) your gloves after washing them; this kills off any left over fungus and/or bacteria that might live though the wash cycle. Many women, esp atheletes have to do this do this with bras/underwear, swimsuits, and other personal athletic gear."

10/20/2010: Betty from Lubbock, Tx, Usa: "I developed a rash on both arms from elbow to wrist after exfoliating; the doctor said it looks like I got into something. He prescribed tretinoin cream and an antibiotic called minocycline 100mg 2x day. The 5th day of the mincycline I developed a itchy rash under my clothing. About 4 to 6 weeks before all this I had colored my hair and got bumps on my head. At the same time I colored I applied a surgical cream to my upper lip to get rid of facial hair. I'm wondering if all the chemicals caused this. It appears to me that the rash under my clothes is a reaction to the antibiotic but I took it only 5 days and I've been off it a week and the body rash is still here. I'm 69 and in good health and don't take any meds. I've tried apple cider vinegar which doesn't help. I put myself on a good probiotic starting yesterday and hope that helps. Please, let me hear your thoughts."

10/08/2010: Constance from Stone Ridge, Ny, Usa: "Both my husband and I have been experiencing a strange rash. It will begin with a warming sensation on my forearms, and grow to a hot prickly most of body rash... Face, neck, torso, arms, legs. Is splotchy in appearance and not at all raised. After several minutes of intense discomfort, it slowly dissipates. Occurrence is about every 2 or 3 or 4 days. We have recently moved and so one would think it has to do with the new house but my husband's first outbreak was at the old place. One time a shot of vodka brought on this rash for both of us simultaneously! I am thinking it is stress related but it is add that both hubby and myself have been experiencing this."
Replies10/09/2010: Janie from Pasadena, California replies: "Hi Constance,
This sounds exactly like a niacin flush to me! Are you taking a supplement or drinks that contain niacin?"

09/05/2010: Gean from Salina, Ks: "Does anyone have any idea what a rash behind ear lobes may mean? It's only slight; it used to be a lot worse. It has gotten much better since I had my mercury amalgams out and used beets, dandelions, etc. to cleanse. I suspect it's some toxin, since it's in a lymph node area. What is the best thing to cleanse the lymphatic system?"
Replies09/06/2010: Jb from Central, Maryland replies: "Rash behind the ears may be caused by a B6 (pyrodixine) deficiency. Wheat germ is the richest food source. Also, meats (especially organ meats); fish; whole wheat; fresh vegetables; walnuts; and fruit (esp. Bananas) can provide vitamin B6. If you choose to obtain more B6 through supplements be careful to balance all the B vitamins as too much of any one thing is never a good idea and can cause other trouble. There are many fine B complex supplements available. Good luck."
09/06/2010: Blanche from Iberia, La replies: "Use dandruff shampoo and scrub gently behind your ears."
06/19/2011: Rashman from Dc, Washington replies: "A rash around the hair line/scalp with scap itching is usually head lice."

06/11/2009: Linda from Erlanger, Ky: "Hello: I am 45 yrs old and up until now have never had sun poisoning but I am sure that is what I have now. I have several patches of red bumps on my lower legs but no where else on my body. It does not itch, burn, sting, it's just there and quite embrrasing. It popped up a few days after spending 2 days at a public swimming pool and being out in the sun for a couple of hours each of the 2 days. Does anyone have any ideas or cures for this? Thanks in advance"
Replies06/12/2009: Linda from Erlanger, Ky replies: "Since my original post regarding my suspected sun poison rash, I realized there were some details that I left out accidentally. Back in April, I had a terrible case of what I thought was poison ivy. I have had PI many times in my life, but this stuff was awful. I had huge red itchy patches on each lower leg, and my right forearm. Looked like I had been in a fire! I went to the dr and got a shot of prednilasone and also had 1 oral round of the steroid. I was also applying Triamcinolone acetonide cream on the areas. Later I learned that jewelweed was the alternative cure so I went thru 3 bottles of that, which worked great. Anyhow, so now I have what I think is sun poison, and I find it odd that I have never had it before, but now I do after going thru what I did with the poison ivy and I also think I had some sumac since it looked like nothing I had never seen before. I just thought these details would be important for anyone who thinks they may have a cure for me.thanks"

04/22/2009: AMB from Los Angeles, CA: "Rash on Face after stopping Birth Control:
I stopped taking birth control pills(been taking for 10 years) in January 2009. Recently after, my face broke out in this rash or something! It was in areas around the mouth and chin. It's not necessarily pimples... more like a rash. It's been 4 months and I'm still dealing with it.
I searched on here for some remedies and have been playing around with ways to fix this. I wash my face with Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap and moisturize mainly with jojoba oil. Sometimes Burt's Bees daytime moisturizer. I often exfoliate with baking soda, but not every day. At night I dilute Apple Cider Vinegar with water and apply all over my face with a cotton ball. I let that dry and then a couple times a week I will put a Raw Honey Mask on my face. This seems to minimize the trouble that has erupted on my face. I've recently found something not so organic; ____ Drying Lotion - it has Calamine in it. I put this on before going to bed. In the morning my face is so much better! I gently exfoliate with baking soda to get rid of some dry skin and again, moisturize with jojoba oil. It seems fine during the day (not great, still a rash, but not so noticeable), but by the end of the day, my face needs all the remedies again. Does anyone know if this will be an on-going battle? I used to have wonderful, flawless skin until I stopped birth control. Now I constantly have a rash that I end up having to cover up with foundation to be presentable for my job. Is there a fix for this? Is this a body chemistry thing? Perhaps my body needs to adjust to me not using oral contraceptive? My job requires me to have a clean and flawless face (like I used to have). I don't want to take antibiotics or start taking birth control pills again. There has to be a natural way of fixing this. Thanks so much for any insight."
04/23/2009: Anonymous from In, California replies: "You are likely right, AMB. Your body, specifically your hormones, are adjusting to this change. Kind of like detoxing. I went through something similar, and it even prevented me from getting off the pill until one or two tries, because my skin got so bad. Another tell-tale sign (from what I've read and experienced) is the chin/mouth area, which often is indicative of hormone-related/caused acne. In your case it's a rash, but I suspect it is a similar experience and that's why I write.
What I did to finally ease myself off the pill without big problems like this is start to take hormone-balancing supplements (herbs and/or vitamins) before going off. But you can try this now and it might help get your system back in balance. I should have another post listed on EC somewhere, where I describe this in detail. I think it was Vitex or Wild Yam...do a search online and you can discover what can help."
04/24/2009: AMB from Los Angeles, CA replies: "Thank you sooo much for responding and for the advice. I will try patience and supplements. Much appreciated."
06/23/2009: Joellie from Amsterdam, Holland replies: "Hi, I think you have got seborrheic dermatitis..."
06/24/2009: Nobey from Arkansas, USA replies: "I have heard that it can take time for the body to adjust after birth control pills, so hopefully it will eventually go away. I have also read alot of the benefit of the herb milk thistle that can help cleanse the liver which metabolises hormones. I have even read that some women who had acne achieved better clearer skin by using it. Perhaps you could start treating the body also with some of the suggestions that ted has like aple cider vinegar and taking black strap molasses or oil pulling. Although I would take one at at a time to see what is helping since they are both powerful on there own. Another powerful detoxer cleanser that I take and love is barley powder. In the meantime lay off of dairy for a few days and see if it helps. I have read that alot of people got rid of skin problems by stopping dairy (from what I understand it can act as an inflammitory. One of my close friends who has a similar break out pattern (around the mouth and chin) has been helped immensely by stopping dairy!
Good luck"

03/01/2009: Victoria from Agadir, Morocco: "please help a new mom: Hello there, very happy to have found this wonderful website. As I had mentioned, I am a 2nd time new mom with a 3 and a half old baby boy. As you moms out there know sleep is not something that I have had a lot of for the last 3 months. On top of that, however, I have broken in few different kinds of rashes - around my aoreolas, on the inside of my arms, on my eye lids and on chin and neck area. I went to the dermatologist and got a couple of different cremes which took care of my eye issues and neck and chin area issue, however, did not take care of the rash in the breast area and actually quite honestly the little rash under my right eye seems to be coming back, can feel it ever so slightly but its there. (the doctor said its a reaction from some bad nail polish, but I am not sure if I am buying his idea) I am on top of everything a ball of nerves due to I believe hormonal changes which still have not passed. Please if any of you had experienced similar things after giving birth and have an idea how i can help my self, please let me know. Greatly appreciated."
Replies03/02/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "To Victoria from Agadir, Morocco:
Hello Victoria, Congratulations on your new little one. It's been quite a while since I was losing sleep with little ones, but how well I can remember how sleepy you get from lack of the opportunity.
Now let's talk about that troublesome rash. The first thing that comes to mind is the little one is now about 3 1/2 months old. The next thing that comes to mind is that all the areas of your rash are areas where your little one is likely to be touching while you are cuddling or nursing him. So, my first question is, What are you putting on the baby that may be causing this rash in those areas. Try using only water and wash cloth to clean your little one and yourself, leaving off all baby soaps, lotions, oils, powders, etc. If the rash disappears, you will know that whatever you were putting on the baby was causing it."

SODA CYSTALS

[YEA] 05/17/2008: Daniella from Beirut, Lebanon: "Carbicarb remedy which is a solution for many symptoms!! I had painful red itchy hands with pimples after working in the garden and i took 1/4 teaspoon of soda crystals (baking soda and sodium bicarbonate) in a glass of water the trademark is Tricel, made in the Netherlands, and in one hour the symptoms were gone. I also had running nose and the soda crystals dried my nose. My nose sometimes gets blocked and with daily use of soda crystals can return your nose to its normal condition and opened sinuses. Soda crystals does a lot! It helps my mother sleep easily, it alkalises your brain, helps your hypothalamus and help your exhausted adrenal glands to recover. This remedy and advice i got from Ted, he advised me to take daily soda crystals with a lot of water... It is helping my thyroid problem as well as i have hypothyroidism. I hope it will clean my liver too from the fats and clean it like it cleans a dirty plate. Thanx Ted for the great help you give with your advice as always. You are the best website!!! And Ted is the best! What do we do without Ted? What do we do without Earthclinic? We would probably die.. I am telling everyone i know how great Earthclinic is and they are checking your site."

SULFUR AND FISH OIL

[YEA] 01/22/2009: Isabella from Boulder, CO: "I had small, red patches and spots around my eyes that wouldn't go away after 3 or 4 months. I assumed I was reacting to something, developing new allergies perhaps. I've never had eczema. I didn't want to go to a dermatologist, as I assumed I'd be prescribed anti-biotics and/or steroid creams, etc. NO THANKS!
There's a very long story here, but to make it short, I went to a homeopathic doctor who recommended sulphur (small homeopathic tablets--cheap) and fish oil. Never found out what caused the inflammation, but the strange dry, red patches cleared up within 3 days and haven't returned since (over 2 months). Hope this helps someone who was as frustrated as I was! Peace, Isabella"

TURMERIC

[YEA] 09/14/2011: Bev G., Rn from Oscoda, Michigan: "Being a nurse I am often times discouraged with the whole medical model here in the US. I decided to try this websites' homeopathic remedy of turmeric. It was an absolute success story in 4 days use, 2 times/day!
My daughter has had a rash which began on her upper thighs and buttocks, flesh colored, no real pattern, very itchy, for several months. The scratching was driving her crazy at night! She has seen the doctor on 3 separate occasions, expensive prescriptions, oral steroids, cream steroids, antibiotics, all to no avail. The rash has spread to her stomach, arms, chest and scalp. We were at our wits end! This has been going on for about 6 months.
I had some turmeric in my spice cabinet and thought what the heck, it can't hurt. It absolutely healed the entire rash! We mixed 1 tsp in a small glass of water, about 3-4 ounces, twice a day. I was amazed, surprised and thankful for this remedy. It has affirmed my beliefs in homeopathic medicines.
After some investigation but without a real pathology result, I believe the skin infection is MRSA related. This decade has seen an enormous increase in staph aureus and I believe it infiltrated her skin in some way.
Anyway, THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART EARTH CLINIC!!"

WHITE VINEGAR

09/23/2011: Scott from Corpus Christi, Texas: "White Vinegar takes away the itch. Soak a towel in 1/2 white vinegar, 1/2 water and use it as a compress- lay the towel (or rag) over the itchy area. You can press down if you want. I like to squeeze extra on the itchiest parts. A few minutes is all I need for relief. I like to leave some on my skin and let it dry up on its own after I'm done with the compress."

[YEA] 09/07/2011: Stormy 69 from Pueblo, Co: "hi, I recently went through chemo, my hair started falling out so I shaved it. Soon after my head started breaking out with a rash. Asked my doctor what to do he prescribed a pill supposed to take care of it, well it did not work. So when I saw this site talking about the vinegar I tried it. Let me tell you the next day it was already clearing up! I was amazed! It did not hurt to try it, and I am glad I did! Thanks for the heads up!"
