And from all the postings, it seems that everyone has a different path towards developing lupus.

I just want to share with you that a nutritionist/medical physician has told me that lupus is either due to copper or zinc overload in the beginning. I must say that I am inclined to agree on that point first as most vegetarians tend to take in more copper from their food.

I am working on copper overload first. An infra-red lamp is recommended in the sauna therapy."

Salt Therapy

02/20/2013: Neal from Asheville, North Carolina Usa: "Hello Ted, I was wondering if you had any information about using salt therapy in the treatment of Lupus? By salt therapy I am referring to a manufactured salt micro climate similar to what is found in a salt mine. I have 'built' a micro climate of Himalayan and Polish salt from approximately 20 tons of salt mined from approximately 1-2 miles underground from salt that is about 200 million years old. This 'cave' is a controlled environment kept at between 67-72 degrees fahrenheit and 50-60% humidity. This mimics the conditions in a salt mine.

This type of treatment has been shown to be beneficial for respiratory problems (asthma, bronchitis, allergies), dermatologic problems (eczema, psoriasis, acne), hypertension, stomach disorders, stress, and some autoimmune diseases, but have not found specific guidelines for Lupus.

Could you let me know of any findings you have that might support this treatment for sufferers of Lupus. Thank you, Neal from Sola"

[YEA]  04/01/2012: Deborah from New York, NY: "Last year I was diagnosed with cutaneous lupus. I have two large skin patches one on my arm and one on my left butt cheek. These are itchy and feel bruised and have also atrophied to leave a concave indentation in my flesh. I am told that this is because the inflammation is in my subcutanaeous fat. I'd like to say I have found a cure for these but I have not - yet. HOWEVER. I began to have accompanying joint pain - terrible nipping pains and feeling constantly like I had been in a car accident - an all over feeling off stiffness and bad bruising. It was debilitating and depressing. Through exhaustive research, trial and error I have found two supplements that are working for me and have decreased the pain SIGNIFICANTLY. One is CM - cetyl myristoleate. I would advise Googling it and doing your own research but I could find no down side. The other is Perna - green lipped mussel extract - a fairly high dose. I began taking these two things together and initially my symptoms worsened but suddenly and quite dramatically the pain lifted. I do think these are worth a try for anyone suffering from chronic joint pain. They certainly changed my life.

One more note on the lupus. I have recently been seeing a new and very good naturopath. Through stool testing for parasites we discovered that I have a very high level of the parasite blastocystis hominis. Also of candida. I knew about the candida and that it was probably part of the lupus causing package but the parasite is a new and interesting development. I will be treating both of these things appropriately with herbs and continued healthy diet (I am completely gluten, caffeine, dairy, soy, alcohol, sugar, nightshade and red meat free; I am a great cook and its really not as hard as it sounds) and will be very curious to see the health benefits of getting rid of these critters. My naturopath feels that they could very likely be a major contributing factor to the jangling of my nervous/immune system that caused the lupus. I will report back with results and would love to hear if anyone else has discovered a parasite/lupus link. If I can help or support anyone else in their healing journey please let me know. Thanks and good health to all."

Ted's Remedies for Lupus

Our resident natural remedies expert offers a regimen that has brought more relief to sufferers than any other Lupus remedy. Ted's remedy concentrates on a few supplements and aims to alkalize the body, since putting your body in an acidic state seems to worsen Lupus symptoms.

  • Twice daily, take a half-teaspoon of baking soda mixed in a small glass of water.
  • Vitamin D supplements. Take 2000 - 20,000 i.u./day, especially during the winter.
  • Avoid B6 and nicotinic acid supplements, as they are acid forming.
  • Drink filtered water to reduce chlorine, fluoride, and heavy metals.
  • Reduce or eliminate acid-forming foods such as sweets, meats, oily foods, white flour, fried foods, etc.
  • Monitor your urine with pH strips to maintain a pH of 7.0 or greater through the above steps.

08/17/2009: Crystalbailey076 from Salyersville, Kentucky: "I have systemic lupus and I have being using the borax and baking soda. I have read conflicting info on the amount of mixture to use. Some state 1 liter divided into 5 equal doses (one dose per day for 5 days), but then others state 1 liter of mixture per day for five days, which would be 5 liters in five days. So which should I be doing? and I would also like to add the sea salt and the acv but can I add it with the borax and baking soda??

Please respond because I really need some relief. One liter a day is alot different that 1/5 of a liter per day and I would not be getting the maximum results. thanks"

I have been doing the Lupus treatments with borax/hydrogen peroxide/baking soda, etc. I just wanted to know with the Vitamin D3, Do you take it WITHOUT calcium? Or do you take it with it? I started taking the Vitamin D3, and noticed that some bottles contain calcium and some do not. But I noticed by reading comments about other supplements, that you say not to get it with calcium. I just want to make sure I am doing it right. Thanks so much again for all of your insight."

[YEA]  12/17/2007: Dessert : "Dear Ted, Re: SLE - Lupus remedies feedback (baking soda, borax, ACV and coriander)

I thank God for you and for leading me to earthclinic when I started researching on lupus to understand what lupus was all about. Numerous renowned medical websites and my rheumatologist claim lupus causes are not known, there's no cure and advocate prescribed drugs are the only way to put lupus under control, some with lifetime consumption. I was deceived by such websites and my rheumatologist initially until I found your contributions in earthclinic. I've got a rheumatologist who is always quick to add dosages in the name of preventing flare-ups, by simply basing on unreliable numbers from laboratory tests which are not lupus-specific, scares me. You have imparted valuable truths and knowledge for healthy living. Thank you very much for being very patient, very kind and very committed in finding lupus cure and with me. I suppose this is not your job and you are doing this outside your working time, I truly appreciate you and all that you have done.

I'm in my mid-30s, I've got SLE with no organs implications. I'm weaning off prednisolone which I've taken for 2½ years, the side effects were getting more unbearable and worrisome and the frequency of pains and inflammation were on the increase without your lupus remedies, dropped plaquenil recently which caused blindness intermittently and I've tried traditional chinese medication for 5 weeks which gave me many other side effects, your lupus remedies gave me strong confidence to wean off prednisolone. I know long-term consumption of prednisolone will shut down my immune system and from a patient's point of view and experience, I concur with you that I should not suppress my immune system. Insofar I strongly believe there's no way I can wean off prednisolone without your lupus remedies. Your lupus remedies deal with the causes and hence the pain reduction or elimination and in my opinion, they do it speedily relative to the other treatments I've tried. I hardly change my diet to know and monitor what works for me and against me.

When I first read about your borax treatment on earthclinic, I had much faith in it even before I tried it. The very mention of lupus nanoinsects feeding on heavy metals caused me to link it with the nose infection I had about 8 years ago and I thought it made so much sense. I developed this nose infection shortly after I joined a MNC selling valves when I had to come into contact with them. I had 1 dent on each side of my nose, they looked like my flesh has been eaten up. Before this nose infection was cured 7 years ago, the scalps were never dried up and were growing bigger by and by. I had a biopsy done 7 years ago and I just found out recently I had discoid lupus then.

Over the last 6 months, I've tried your lupus remedies separately to see and feel my body's response to each of them:

1) 1/8 teaspoon of borax in 1 litre of water on empty stomach - I drank 250 ml 4 times a day and eating fresh coriander on empty stomach everyday to chelate mercury which feeds the lupus nanoinsects

When I first started borax treatment, I took it 4 days consecutively. I didn't see any lupus nanoinsects (tiny black dots) surfacing from my skin and I didn't have diarrhea, I used a see-through glass container to collect my stools hoping to see these tiny black dots. My stools are usually light brown to medium brown but during these 4 days, my stools were totally covered by so much of these tiny black dots (I broke down the stools with water to make sure they were not black stools to begin with) and I also experienced constipation and had piles. I understood from you that the dead lupus nanoinsects also cause inflammation hence the constipation and the piles did not make me stop the borax treatment. No more piles for subsequent borax treatments. I had loss of appetite and I experienced drowsiness whenever I take this borax treatment and I welcome drowsiness because I could sleep only 2-4 hours a day for the last decade. For a few months, I was very aggressive on borax treatment because I knew I had 'sticky blood', evident by the big blood clots from my periods. I made the mistake of not unclotting my blood first to allow the borax treatment penetrate into all my cells. The lupus nanoinsects were kinda wrapped up inside the blood clots. I used asprin as per your advice to unclot my blood and I have much lesser 'black blood' during menstruation now, which I've learnt from you that it is an indication of lowered levels of bacterial infection. I'm less dependent of borax treatment now that I don't see tiny black dots from my stools.

2) ½ teaspoon of baking soda in ½ mug of water on empty stomach once in the morning and once before bedtime in the evening to provide unfavourable terrain for mycoplasmas growth

Recently, I had a very speedy recovery from flare-up using this. I had a huge flare-up (intense pains and inflammation everywhere in my body) caused by eating vegetables not cleared of chemicals previously sprayed on them and sugar intake. The chemicals and sugar seem to fuel mycoplasmas growth very fast, gauging from the speed and intensity of pains and inflammation spreading all over my body. Bearing in mind I've been taking prednisolone and plaquenil faithfully since 2½ years ago, they didn't help one bit in any way whenever flare-ups occur. Then I took baking soda treatment and borax treatment on empty stomach, on an alternate basis with 1 hour interval 3-4 times each and only had one meal for the day before I took medicine, the pains and inflammation reduced by 80% at the end of the same day. The next day and the day after, I simply take the baking soda treatment as per normal without taking borax treatment, no more pains and inflammation by the 3rd day. I didn't see any tiny black dots from my stools during these 3 days, figured baking soda treatment did the job. The existence of lupus nanoinsects or mycoplasmas give rise to the same kind of pains and inflammation.

3) 1 teaspoon of baking soda + 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar + 8 teaspoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice + 250 ml of water on empty stomach

Prior to asprin intake, this ACV treatment has made my blood less sticky, the blood clots became smaller. Together with baking soda treatment, the white coating (candida) on my tongue is getting less concentrated, I see more redness on my tongue. From http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/acvinegar.html#why, I'm sure it also helps me in many areas which I'm not aware of.

I shout "YEA! YEA! YEA!" to the abovementioned lupus remedies.

God Bless You"

Thank God someone decided to be so descriptive about what is going on with stools, menstration, etc. At this point, Doctors are talking by the watercooler about me and even before I step into a new doctor's office, they are talking about me in the hall before they walk through the door. I can hear them, they should at least walk down the hall a little. I just visited an infectious disease doctor for the second time since I have lost 25 pounds since this has begun and he plainly states to me, "you seriously need to see a psychiatrist, there is nothing wrong with you except self inflicted wounds!". To make things worse, I got a secondary staph infection which infected my whole family including dogs and killed one of my gerbels. If that didn't confuse everything, I don't know what else!

Anyway, that is beside the point. I wanted to ask you how you picked out your Rheumatologist and what test results helped you get your diagnosis? I have been diagnosed with Fibromayalgia, Ankylosing Spondylitis, now asthma since i am having trouble exhaling, and anxiety issues and depression.

Good grief. I wouldn't be depressed if people would stop saying that I am harming myself (which I am not, these greasy, sticky, waxy lesions just won't heal) Anyway, my symptoms are the same including what you are calling the nanoinsects (need more info., I am new to all of this and this stuff is everywhere in the house) and it seems to respond to fungal treatment oral and topical. That is why I ended up at the infectious disease doctor 2x. However, when I stop the treatment, it reoccurs.

I am sitting here on Christmas Eve while my family is on vacation without me because I waited to be insulted by the infectious disease doctor, thanking God that I found this site.

Any information that anyone can give me regarding how I approach a new set of doctors along with my previous records. I am now hopeful! And by the way, somehow after reading all of this, I feel enlightened and happy. Imagine how a little bit of validation helps!

Still have alittle brain fog & head pains, some joint pain but all lesser, I did camphor 10% alcohol rub (couldnt find powder), with eucilyptus, and it did help. Im wondering if after 2-3 wks all symptoms are gone if they come back again??"

04/02/2007: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand: "Without getting confused in lupus remedies, I am going to make it simple and concentrate on major supplements that resulted in major improvements.

I have seen lupus to improve most significantly from only four things being the most important. These are the bare minimum:

1. Alkalizing pH. 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda taken twice a day in 1/2 glass of water on an empty stomach. Urinary pH MUST be at LEAST 7.0

2. Vitamin D3 2,000 i.u.- 20,000 i.u./day. Magnesium is synergistic with the vitamin D at about 250 mg of mangesium citrate. Vitamin D I found accidentally after I noticed lupus tend to worsen during winter with less sun, and when early summer arrive, the lupus was reduced. Excess sun exposure is still not recommended for lupus, but vitamin d seems to increase the immune systems.

3. 1/8 teaspoon of borax taken weekly diluted in 1 liter of water taken in divided dose throughout the day.

4. No acid forming supplements! Vitamin B6 (pyridoxal hydrochloride) and Nicotinic acid, were the biggest problems in creating a lupus, not because they are vitamin B, but because they are acid forming. One is a hydrochloride, the other is the nicotinic acid. If they are other that are alkaline forming, they are relatively toxic to both staph and strep.

5. Contaminated water supply. Yes fluoride, chlorine, but I also found free heavy metals contaminants to be the big cause also. Certain water had unknown chemicals and switching them to mineral water did major improvement were seen in the condition of lupus.

6. No sweets, too much meats, pizza, steaks, oily foods, white flour, and fried foods. They make the condition so much worse as they too are acid forming.

Those are the big six that resulted in major improvements. You can do the other things later. I have as yet to fine tune this, but lupus is still rare where I live. If I get any more information on lupus, I will update them as it comes along."

01/11/2006: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand writes: "I am still grieving over the death of my long time friend I know for about 13 years. The reason was that the information of her suffering from lupus was being withheld from me.

Even though my knowledge for such treatment has gone well beyond what I can post at this website, people here in Thailand still don't talk openly about the disease.

When this has happened, and it has happened so many times, the fate is pretty much sealed. It is totally disastrous to die of a disease when the information is held from the person who has it or the person who might have information for a cure or treatment.

The second thing is when you are dying it is best to give yourself a chance to experiment and try things out yourself. Don't try to go down with the ship when there always a chance. To be stubborn at this stage is a disaster. Forget about what authorities say this or that. It is a time when you are cornered that you have two outcomes, a certain death from not doing anything or a slight possibility that you may cheat death if you just give yourself a fighting chance.

So I would like to dedicate this lupus page to Miss Mananya Yodkrahom (b. July 8, 1973 d. December 1, 2005) as a remembrance that people don't have to die of an incurable disease without being given a fighting chance or at least if you do have a disease that people around be informed of it given the possibility that those who are informed, might have leads for possible treatment."

-------------------------------

08/01/2004: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand writes: "Lupus is an autoimmune disease that can affect every system in our body. The body attacks its own cells and tissues and damages your system. One of my theories of aging is this autoimmune disease, side from the other strangulation theory of aging.

If our bodies stop attacking itself we would live longer. Before a dog dies, it develops an autoimmune disorder and its fur and skin degrades. Of course, I also have a theory for treatment of autoimmune disorder and I do not know how well it works but it has been tested in rat study and has done extremely well.

The theory for autoimmune disorder is a nucleic acid deficiency. Our body absorbs a very small portion of nucleic acid. With this deficiency, that means our DNA expression and synthesis is defective and thus white blood cells see this a "a foreign tissue" when it is in fact our own cells. Once we have a pet theory the practice is rather straightforward.

The taking of Cellfood RNA/DNA supplements under the tongue will supply your body with the needed nucleic acid, especially the long chain RNA/DNA. Of course ideally somewhere in the distant future, an RNA/DNA mixed with chloroform injection might be more ideal for treatments against lupus. You can find some RNA/DNA supplements from your local health food store. The trick is not to swallow these RNA/DNA supplements, the key is really to put it under the tongue to allow RNA/DNA absorption - this is the next best thing to an injection.

Also take protein supplement, and vitamin b complex, especially Niacin, only in form of niacinamide. Do not take niacin. My theory is while both nicotinic acid and niacinamide (nicotinamide) are a form of vitamin B3, they each play a very different role in human metabolism. Vitamin B is related to DNA and RNA synthesis. Take an extra supplement in the grams (1.5-2 grams) only for vitamin B1 and vitamin B3 (about 250-500 mg). Others that you have to look for is folic acid, and getting yourself a vitamin B12 injection or getting a vitamin B12 under your tongue.

If you want to eat food with high RNA/DNA, the only way to go is raw foods, (raw fish), sardines, salmon, etc. Brocolli and cabbages might help, as it is high in sulfur, necessary for DNA.

Other important supplements include trimethyglycine (TMG) and MSM. The reason is methylation is neeeded for proper DNA synthesis. I remember people on hormone and steroid treatment are also susceptible to lupus as well as what you mentioned, aspartame. However, I also suspect fluoride toothpaste in aluminum tube. Fluoride compete with iodine in the thyroid and aluminum with fluoride goes through the blood brain barrier and may indirectly cause lupus to worsen due to faulty neurological causes. My suspicion is lupus may have high homocysteine levels which is indicative of a vitamin B and/or sulfur deficiency.

Please understand that I am trying find a treatment for autoimmune disorder but DNA/RNA is not freely available here in Bangkok to do the tests, since buying from internet - at least for me, is unaffordable.

So what you have to do is do your own tests and give me a feedback of the suggestions. For one thing, about lupus, if you take too much flu vaccinations, my thinking is pretty soon our white blood cells have too much information and starts attacking ourselves. To prevent this it is best to avoid vaccination and try to detoxify our bodies from mercury aluminum, and lead using EDTA, malic acid, and selenium. Eliminating these environmental toxins, along with chlorine water and fluoride and aluminum (in alum and antacid) and lupus symptoms should reduce. The reason is that certain metals such as lead, chlorine for example seems to interfere with DNA synthesis. DMSO or MSM will provide antioxidant against DNA. I cannot get MSM here, but I could obtain DMSO, and best dosage for DMSO is one teaspoon per day taken with water. If it is too garlicky, (its really not that bad) mix with more water. Placing DMSO with some activated charcoal might reduce the smell.

Zinc and magnesium are also important against Lupus as well as other antioxidants such as vitamin E, N-acetylcysteine, but also L-Carnitine and Alpha Lipoic Acid. Antioxidants are necessary against DNA damage. Remember for those who have a Lupus caused by vitamin B3 (Nicotinic acid), Lupus symptoms should be reduced within days. Nicotinic acid may cause skin flushing, so take the highest amount that does not cause that skin flushing and take them along with other B vitamins. Remember Lupus is an autoimmune disorder in some ways similar to AIDS. In AIDs patients, just taking N-Acetylcysteine (NAC) alone, resulted in lengthening of life by about 2 - 3 years. Even if my recommendation will not cure lupus, it will nonetheless likely to reduce the symptoms or severity somewhat.

A little bit more on Lupus...

There are actually many cause and many approach towards treatment of Lupus depending on how you look at it. If the treatment is to prevent hair loss caused by lupus, treatment with prednisone might stop hair loss. There is a story of an Australian doctor who successfully treated lupus based on gluten allergies which was to avoid all grains except corn and rice. Here is some information:

Dr Reading, an Australian doctor who cured a hundred Lupus [SLE] patients by [among other things] taking them off all grains except RICE and CORN. Dr Wright discussed the connection between a Lancet article recently reporting a link between the genetic marker HLA-B8 and 17 diseases with what he had learned from Dr Reading. All but one of the 17 diseases [Celiac Disease] arethought to be autoimmune diseases. Dr Wright deduced that if dietary restriction of gluten cured the one gene-linked disease known to have an external cause that perhaps all of the gene-linked diseases had an external cause and that it might just be gluten sensitivity!

I would bet on it!!

Here is the list of the diseases linked to the gene that might respond to restriction of gluten containing foods. My advice is that ANY patient with one of the following diagnoses be taken off ALL grain and ALL dairy products until their involvement is ruled out.

Addison's Disease
Autoimmune hemolytic anemia
Celiac disease
Childhood asthma
Chronic autoimmune hepatitis
Dermatitis herpetiformis
Grave's disease
Insulin dependent (type 1) Diabetes mellitus
Lupus erythematosis
Myesthenia gravis
Pernicious anemia [100% also suffer total lack of
stomach acid]
Polymyalgia rheumatica
Scleroderma
Sjogren's syndrome
Thyrotoxicosis
Ulcerative colitis
Vitiligo

Dr Wright recommends the tTG test for gluten/gliadin sensitivity, a measure of tissue transglutaminase and supposedly the most sensitive test now available. Information from a website is included below for your convenience.

Other tests are the endomysial antibody test [EMA] for short lived antibodies and the antigliadin antibody [AGA] test for the longer lived IgA and IgG antibodies.

Be sure the patient has consumed gluten containing foods right up until test day or the tests might show negative even in gluten sensitive people.

Again there is a story of someone who was "cured" of lupus taking a common medicine available in most pharmacy stores, Calorad.

Some people are allergic to certain drugs and environmental toxins. So stopping certain medications, or drugs might help. Common drugs that induced lupus are procainamide (Pronestyl) hydralazine (Apresoline) quinidine (Quinaglute). Also, its been known that taking nasal vaccines causes lupus to be much worse. Discontinuation of vaccines might also be helpful.

Personally, I suspect that many authorities know what causes lupus and its cures, but they are keeping it mum and for a good reason. There has been many stories I hear of people taking vaccinations such as polio and hepatitis A for example then suddenly wham, lupus! I hear that taking high dose steroids for example cured lupus. Hormone therapy such as prednisone were also helpful.

Let me conclude about treatment with Lupus to make it simple: The main cause of lupus is nucleic acid deficiency. Supplementation with RNA/DNA, liquid protein supplements (e.g. calorad) and Sulfur rich foods and sulfur supplements (MSM, Brewer's Yeast, Selenium) and cofactors for DNA synthesis such as vitamin B complex should help along with TMG (Trimethyglycine).

Finally avoidance of gluten containing foods such as white flour and wheat, sugar, overcooked meats, drug medications, and vaccine should eliminate most of the lupus conditions. Short term treatments such as steroids and prednisone might be helpful. Detoxification is necessary in first stages such as liver detoxification, and reduction heavy metal toxicity by using EDTA for example are the basics. Elimination of environmental toxins is also important. If you just follow this email alone, most of the conditions of Lupus should be alleviated."

I had a question for you regarding Lupus and treatment. I was recently told that I "likely have Lupus (SLE version) and my doctor recommended I take Plaquenil. I have read about it and its side effects and was wondering what your thoughts were about it. She is also testing my vitamin D levels and doing CRP, ESR and complimant tests to get a better piture. I am not opposed to taking medication if I need to, but I like to do things as naturally as possible. Thanks for any help or insights! M. Turner"

We found the information here very helpful but we also wanted to know if the remedies that you share here is appropriate to a 6 year old kid. Please let us know Ted. We are also waiting for a doctor's appointment and they wanted her to start the treatment although she doesn't have any symptoms yet. Your advise will be deeply appreciated. Thank you very much."
07/02/2012: Rsw from Uniontown, Oh replies: "Dr. Gluck, a Harvard educated doctor and advocate of LDN (low dose naltrexone - www.ldninfo.org) had two Aunts with Lupus, and after one month on LDN they were symptom free. LDN will not cure the disease, but no progression of symptoms usually occurs as long as you take it. It is FDA approved and has no side effects except occasionally someone will have vivid dreams for the first week or so. It enables your body to modulate it's immune system to keep autoimmune diseases in check. It has been used successfully in children with Crohn's disease in published studies by Dr. Jill Smith of Penn State. Dr. Jacquelyn McCandless has also used it successfully with children with autism. Best wishes!"

09/19/2012: Finishgirl from Iron Mountain, Mi replies: "I have been studying auto immune diseases and have recently read the book Cancer, Cause Cure and Coverup by Ron Gdanski. The brief consesus about Lupus as well as Fibromyalgia, etc. is reducing yeast overgrowth, Candida, this is in the case of children or adults, that is one of the main connections, reducing "Tartaric Acid", (the main natural source is yeast), with "Malic Acid". Anti-fungal treatment such as Iodine, (must be taken slowly to reduce toxic loads being released) & Olive Leaf can be helpful supplements. Reduce your Candida, by reducing your anti-biotic usage, (a great natural anti-biotic is Olive Leaf 18% oleoprin), sugar and simple carb intake. If you google "Lupus and Iodine" or "Lupus and Fungal" you will come across some helpful info. The Cancer book I mentioned earlier is hard to find, I found mine on Amazon, but through his research he has basically found that Cancers, as well as Auto-immune disease and a host of many illnesses are directly related to Fungal Infections. Lastly for pain, I have come across "Serrapeptase", it has been know to help relieve much pain associated with Lupus as well as menses cramps, etc. Good luck to everyone who is suffering from Lupus!"

03/31/2007: Rhonda from Charleston, SC, USA: "Before I forget to mention, Shara from Philadelphia..if you are still reading this post, I highly recommend you get tested for Pompe's Disease...otherwise, something you are taking is causing the rapid muscle breakdown and brown urine, which is called rhabdomyolysis, ..high fluoride in teas and other sources such as drugs can do the same thing.

Ted, you have some good information posted on this site and I will like to add to it...after developing an autoimmune disease myself, I researched extensively on the issue. In the end, I decided that the majority of all autoimmune appear to be linked to a retrovirus, gluten, mycobacteria, silica, or all of them together. Retroviruses can be kept in check with vitamin E and selenium, and killed with fresh coconut meat. The gluten issue is related to strep and staph. Strep bacteria are used in mice to induce autoimmune disease. You can do what is called a BlAST search on pubmed...for a protein/protein interaction, and you will find that the gluten protein resembles the protein coat of strep and staph bacteria...that can trigger disease....be aware that most yogurt has a harmless strep added..but this is not good for autoimmune sufferers...that is why dairy is an issue...along with the fact that strep and staph bacteria are present in milk and yogurt. These bacteria loves low body temperature...so in a hypothyroid situation, (such as that caused by fluoride or triclosan in your antibacterial soap) they run rampant. Be aware that the reason most autoimmune sufferes have B-vitamin deficiencies is when strep/staph are involved, that is because that is WHAT THEY EAT, in combination with chromium(strep and staph need B vitamins and chromium to survive)...So if you cook on stainless steel and take high doses of B-vitmains..you are feeding strep like crazy..try eating a banana and see if your symptoms worsen..haha .Next comes the silica...this is the one that you probably have never heard of...fluoride is added to water in the form of a fluorosilicate..the fluoride reduces white blood cells, but at the same time, the silicate reduces the ability of a person with autoimmune to fight off mycobacteria. Mycobacteria thrive on silica..and some foods are high in silicon...that is how they form the scar tissue...haven't you heard of the breast plant issue with silicon and autoimmune? Anything ground up (such as seasonings), many medicines in capsules, etc..and even table salt, which also has silica added to it to make things "pour" will be a problem with autoimmune sufferers..and you will form scar tissue. The mycobacteria uses the silica in this way in a destructive manner, especially in the presence of fluoride...to make scar tissue. Studies show that TB patients cannot fight off tuberculosis (which is also caused by a mycobacterial infection) if silica is being consumed. You can research this if you want to. I have read that mycobacteria are vulnerable to citrate, tetracycline, monocycline (which, unlike tetracycline, penetrates tissues),and copper. So what does all of this add up to??? I wanted to see if I can make my symptoms completely disappear WITHOUT ANY SUPPLEMENTS...yes you heard me right. It happened...but the problem is, it is a very restrictive (but simple) diet: Elimate all sources that feed mycobacteria, retroviruses, and strep/staph. This boils down no fluoride, silica, and gluten, and foods with B-vitamins added. No fluoride is hard...spring water low in fluoride, do not cook on non-stick cookware in any form, and avoiding high fluoride foods such as chicken, soy, and canned meats. Reduce silica means avoiding seasonings that pour or that you sprinkle on food, and high silicon foods...(i.e.use fresh herbs only for seasoning). Low/No HCL in the stomach is generally caused by fluoride toxicity...you end up with HF instead of HCL inthe stomach, which sets up hypothyroidism, and that will now allow strep/staph, and retroviruses to thrive...also the problem with red meat is this..the stomach is lined with a sodium layer..when you ingest red meat, it pulls the sodium from the lining stomach, and creates a inflammatory condition...because of lack of sodium...mycobacteria thrives on sodium, making the problem worse...but you need sodium to digest your food. And finally, the gluten issue: by avoiding gluten, your body does not launch an autoimmune response to type IV collagen...gluten once again, looks like the protein coat that covers strep and staph..but also that makes up type IV collagen, which is present throughout your body, including your kidneys...and this collagen gets attacked. This is a very general and short version of what i could say, but I hope many find this information useful. Feel free to email for more info. and clarification."

04/02/2007: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Without getting confused in lupus remedies, I am going to make it simple and concentrate on major supplements that resulted in major improvements.

If I get any more information on lupus, I will update them as it comes along. "

04/12/2010: Jen from R replies: "Ok ted and ec readers.

i am a person who has hyperthyroid. i have written a few posts on here about this and i was reading again teds lupus remedies and something struck me and i dont know why it hasnt before because i have read this post a hundred times. Rhonda from Charleston SC wrote about autoimmunity being connected to strep and staph bacteria. Thats when it hit me that 2 and a half years ago i was diagnosed with Group B strep while i was pregnant. (and i must say that it is not a very pleasant test) Any ways i was told that it was no big deal and that they would give me antibiotics when i was in labor so the baby wouldnt get it. And i never thought anymore about it... until now and i cant find much info about it on the www. other than its part of the strep bacteria family. So my question to ted and others is, What is this Group B strep? Could this be a reason as to why i have a Hyperthyroid? and How in the world do i get rid of it? I dont want it and i dont want to be a carrier of this disease. Or any other for that matter. if anyone knows about group B strep i would love any info. Please, even if it dosent pertain to anything i have asked.

also they say Group B strep is not very common, well of the 4 others who were pregnant at the same time 3 off us had it and were told the same thing.

Thanks so much in adavance
Peace love and life

Jen"
